my first og post since 2017 huh? hey guys! i haven’t posted for so long because although i’ve been working harder than ever, my notes haven’t been worthy of a post. but now i figured, my studying is so much more important than notes or followers--i’m using studyblr again as motivation to start grinding on the sat and preparing for school, and if the notes i take aren’t as pretty as i would like, so be it! i’ll do my best to produce good content for you guys but right now i’m just trying to be able to be productive every day :) hope y’all have been well!

I finished finals yesterday, so I’m officially done for the summer, but I realized I never posted these photos from when I was reviewing for finals!! These notes are from my Introduction to Communication class; they actually match my new laptop case a little bit, which is cool, and I think I did well on the exam, which is even cooler : )

I know I’ve neglected this blog a little bit this semester, and I apologize, but this summer I’m hoping to revamp it and get in the habit of posting more often so that by the time next semester starts, this blog (and my study habits overall) are even better!! I can’t wait!!

In the meantime, I’ll still be here reblogging and writing some original posts, so feel free to come say hi anytime!! I’d love to make some friends in the studyblr community.

october 31st: happy halloween, everyone!

i spent most of the day working at a cafe– it was a great experience! there was a lady sitting ahead of me who is exactly what i inspire to be (really charming, focused on her work, smart as a whip). she helped me power through apush work!

some summarizing notes on the great war. these are my rewritten notes as all my classes are in Dutch so I rewrite them to help me memorize the information better.

i’ve gotten so many asks about how i stay motivated enough to work hard even when i don’t feel like it. the reality is that motivation can make you feel like wanting to work, but discipline is what will actually force you to get up and work.

the rest is under the cut!

1.gtfo of tumblr. ik!!! it’s hard!! all that studyspo,,,and those notes,,,and white topped desks,,, i know. but get off. it’s not motivating you, it’s really just distracting you (we’ve all gotten lost in our dashboards before ok).

1.a. gtfo of any social media, period. turn off snapchat notifications. mute instagram. hell, uninstall them temporarily if you need to, but stop!! getting!! distracted!!

2. have all your materials that you know/think you will need with you.  you keep getting up to get a pencil or a snack or an eraser and as a result you’re not getting anything done!! not having all your supplies gives you an excuse to wander around your room/house until you forget about your work completely. no. don’t do it.

3. plan your time. lots of times you end up procrastinating because you don’t have a specific plan. honestly, organizing your time into some kind of schedule has a placebo effect: that timetable on your phone or in your notebook will make you feel more organized and in control, and as a result you will act upon that feeling and actually get stuff done!!

4. break up tasks. it’s really intimidating and overwhelming to look at a huge task such as “read and annotate all of wuthering heights by friday”. split it up into tiny, more accomplishable tasks such as “read chapters 1-3 and annotate as you go along” and so on and so forth. 

4.a. set realistic/achievable goals. if you’re writing things in your bullet journal like “read more” you’re going to look at it later and go “??”. rather, say something like “read 10% of a book every day.” that’s much more logical and your brain won’t want to neglect that goal because it’s more realistic.

5. stop relying on motivation. like i’ve said many times before, motivation isn’t what forces you to do work that you don’t want to do!! discipline does!! many of us make the mistake of searching for “motivation” when we should really be looking to get better at self discipline. this isn’t to say that the #motivation tag isn’t nice to scroll through sometimes. just don’t let this be your only source of hard work.

a pic of my first complete bujo spread in december since early summer 2017! i started a “system” where i rate my productivity out of 10 every day. this is based off of the whole idea that you sleep more when you track your sleep, so i’m hoping this will help!

The break is over and the semester is back, I’m trying not to freak out about some really tough subjects I’ll be taking. Here is the first bujo spread I made since I got back, I thought I’d put my pressed flowers to good use, since it’s spring ✨

day 2 of 100 ~ october 9, 2017 so i did day 1 in august and then just... didn't do any more. but here i am with day 2!!
