Am I being territorial? Probably. Will I share? Yes, absolutely! We should petition that at least one character from the actual canon show can do this! (Unless I missed something and someone can actually do this, but I’ll wait till the news reaches me)

But I’m not gonna start anything, I’m just saying that this is very cool and . Anyways, I’m feeling tired and lazy. Gn everyone.

Morning Shenanigans

An Octonaut OC insert tickle Fanfic with Captain Banacles 💕

"Good morning, Wren! I see you're up earlier than the others."  Barnacles greets me with a smile and pats my head while drinking some hot chocolate.

“I’m just an early bird I guess..” I chuckle gently while blushing in mild embarrassment as my ears lower.

"I see. Well, you are a wolf, which are nocturnal creatures. A wolf would need to be up early, to be able to hunt. But of course, you're not a hunter. You're just an adorable, fluffy wolf."  He says, his voice as gentle as usual. He was a big softie at heart, which was a great contrast to his larger stature. Barnacles was still caressing me, he just wanted to make sure I felt comfy and safe on my first day on the Octopod I think… and he was a rather touchy person by nature.

I give a little whine in embarrassment, but I still enjoy his petting and caressing nonetheless while I continue blushing

“I know we’ve known one another for a few years now, but I’m still a bit nervous on how the next few months will go now that I’m living with you all here.. living together is completely different than just meeting up every now and then for missions...” I admit gently with a soft sigh

"I see. I understand it's all very new to you, but don't be so hard on yourself. I assure you, you're not the only one that's feeling a bit anxious. I remember when we all first met, it was a little awkward but, as the missions went on, we got to know each-other and we all became like a family”  He said, his voice low and gentle. He smiles down at me, his expression warm and reassuring. He was trying his best to make sure that I felt like I was part of the Octopod family.

“How about we play a question game to keep your mind off of all your worries, and to get to know one another even better?” He looks down at my smaller form with a gentle smile, still petting me while already thinking of some questions he could ask me.

 "Okay…"  I say, smiling softly while not minding the petting

"Hmm… what's your favorite color?" He finally asks me, his head slightly tilted like a curious puppy.

“Blue. I really like the spectrum~” I chuckle as I duck my head down and scrunch up my shoulders once he starts caressing my ears, making me giggle “ah! it tickles!”

He stopped caressing briefly after I exclaimed that he’s tickling me, his eyes widening in slight surprise. 

"O-oh, you're ticklish?" He asks, a bit of a smile starting to form in the corners of his mouth, a mischievous idea popping into his head that’ll definitely make me less tense.

"How ticklish~?" He asks playfully, his paws now hovering in the air, ready to attack.

I yelp and move back, already starting to giggle nervously once I see him tower over me “not that ticklish..?”

"You're not a good liar, you know that~?”  He says, his smile now a wide, almost devilish, grin. He began to approach me, his hands up, ready to tickle me silly.

"I'll find out just how ticklish you are~"

“Ahhh! No, get away~!” I screech out and quickly make a run for it, giggling all the way down the hall

My Captain immediately started chasing after me, his eyes were now filled with child-like, playful glee. “Come back here~! I'm the captain, you have to do as I say~!” He yelled teasingly, as he was slowly catching up to me.

“Wh-!? that’s not fair, you can’t play the captain card~!” I yell back with a chuckle as I try to stay ahead.

"I can do what I want, I'm the captain~!” Barnacles replied, a wide childish grin on his face. He was in a very playful mood now, and he wouldn’t stop at nothing to catch me!  "You're almost in my reach~!”

“Nohoho~!” I laugh in panic while running as fast as I can, but I unfortunately end up in his grasp anyway once he manages to scoop me up into his arms  “damn it!”

Barnacles was now holding me in his arms, a proud, 'I-got-the-target' kind of expression on his face. "I got you, you can't escape me now~!” He says before he starts to tickle me, his large paws moving over my sides and under my arms.

I squeak before I start giggling as he starts exploring my sensitive little body, making me squirm in his hold “wait Wahahait noho fair~!”

"Nuh-uh, you're not going anywhere~" He said, in a very cheeky tone. Barnacles' paws moved over to my stomach, as he was determined to make me laugh "I'm not letting you go until you're a laughing mess~”

“Noohohahaha-!” I squeak again as he sits down and puts me in his lap, starting to experiment to find my most ticklish spot while I’m already a giggly mess.

"Ooh, is someone a little ticklish~?” The polar bear says in a teasing voice. He was still trying to find the most ticklish spots on my body, his large paws were tickling my thighs now, his paws squeezing and slightly digging into my skin in a non-hurtful way.

"Come on, let's hear that laugh of yours~" He coaxes, his other paw now tickling my ribs.

“Nooo~!” I shake my head in denial as I cover my mouth while growing weak from his coaxing, which was a mean trick.

"I will find it sooner or later..~" He whispered teasingly into my ear with a wide smirk on his face. “I will find what spot makes you lose your mind the most~" His paws were now on both my knees, squeezing relentlessly as he was determined to find my sweet spot and make me laugh.

Lo and behold, I finally start laughing gently while snorting once he goes for my knees, making me kick my legs out and cover my face with both hands in embarrassment “captain~! Hahahahaha~!” I squeal as I blush madly. It wasn’t my most ticklish spot, but it was dangerously close.

"Aww, you're finally laughing, this is great. but, I still want to find your sweet spot~" He said, and now he was wiggling the tips of his fingers into my hipbones, his other hand going behind my back to wiggle in the area between my ribs and my spine.

That does it as I suddenly screech loudly before I break out into hysterical and contagious cackling once he goes for my hips, making me arch my back as I curl up and scrunch up my nose and squeeze my eyes shut  “BARNY~!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA~!!!”

Barnacles' eyes widened slightly, realizing that he had finally found the most ticklish spot on my body, he had found my sweet spot  “Haha~! There we go~!”  My captain laughs and he begins to mercilessly tickle me in that specific spot, determined to tickle me silly.

“OH GOD, NOT THERE~!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAH~!!” I squeal out in delight and playful panic

"This spot makes you go crazy, doesn't it~?" He asks teasingly, with a bright smile on his face. He then leans over and blows a raspberry onto my neck, as his paws were still tickling my poor hips.

"I think you're even more ticklish than me~!" He laughs gently and continues his tickle ‘torture’, enjoying every squeal and cackle he can tickle out of me

“HAHAHAHAH~!! MERCY, PLEASE~!!! HAHAHAHA~!!! NO MORE~!!” I screech out as I trash around in his lap and try shoving at his chest and face, my tail wagging like crazy. 

"Alright, alright~! You can calm down now, I'm done with you~" Barnacles finally relents on his tickle ‘torture’, but he still keeps me snuggly in his arms while smilling down at me.

I’m a giggling and panting mess at this point, tears in my eyes as I lay limply on his lap “y-you’re... relentless…~”

Barnacles chuckles a bit, seeing me so breathless and laughing was quite entertaining to him. "I'm not mean, I prefer the term playful. Besides, you had fun, didn't you~?" He says while gesturing to my wagging tail, smiling at me as he pats my head once again.

I blush some more while my ears lower again in embarrassment once he starts with the petting all over again, my tail still wagging from all the attention and affection “M-Maybe a little bit..~”

Barnacles notices how I lower your ears again and how I’m blushing. He always noticed the little things, the small details. He chuckles, and pats my head even more now, running his paws through my fur

"You definitely had fun. You're blushing so red, you know…~" He teases softly, his expression gentle and fond

I just lean my head against his chest and focus on my breathing, not having the energy to try denying his claims anymore while he lets me rest, even pulling me closer to himself in a nice and comfortable hug. 

He continued caressing me silently, just enjoying the comfortable moment, while smiling down at me

“I don’t mind you doing this again to be honest.. but please don’t tease me too much in the future is all I’m asking..~” I chuckle gently while being a complete flustered and blushing mess

Barnacles smiled excitedly as he spoke "Oh, you don't mind it if I tickle you in the Future~?” He asks and then chuckles a bit with a mischievous undertone. He definitely had a few plans for future tickle fights now that he knew how ticklish I am and that I enjoy being tickled. "But alright, I promise not to tease you too much in the future, my friend~"

“Thank you…” I say gently and gratefully as I look up at him with a soft expression “-and thank you for relieving me of my earlier nervousness, Barny... I’m definitely not nervous anymore about living here...~”

Barnacles looked down at me as well, his eyes softening again "You're welcome, Wren. We're all like family here, and I promise we'll take good care of you. You're safe with us." He says, squeezing me closer. The bear was genuinely just happy to have me here it seems.

“Hmmm…~” I hum gently as I enjoy and return the hug “there’s one thing though…~” I say gently while my tone gets slightly mischievous

Barnacles noticed the change in my tone, that mischievous undertone, raising an eyebrow slightly "Hm? What is it?” He asks, intrigued and curious as a soft smile spreads across his face.

“I couldn’t help but notice that you said earlier that I was much more ticklish than you.. which I find hard to believe~” I chuckle teasingly as I give him a cheeky look  “I think I’ll need to check that myself~”

Barnacles' eyes widened as he gave a surprised noise, which was soon followed by lovely and deep belly laughs that rang through the octopod as I gave him a dose of his own medicine, giving the others who heard his laughter a sweeter start into the day.

*casually drops an OC from a show made for toddlers*

This is Trixie, a silly fennec fox desert ecologist from the Sahara! (LOTS of lore under the cut)

Her first experience with the Octonauts was when she was woken up by Kwazii after he'd gotten lost in the Sahara desert. She gave him directions to a nearby oasis, where he was found and picked up by the other Octonauts. She had refused to step out of her territory, though, how strange...

Her next encounter with the Octonauts was in the Arctic (A fennec fox? In the Arctic? How could that have happened?). Barnacles found her freezing and trying to stay afloat on a floating chunk of ice and brought her back to the octopod, where Peso took care of her for a while, as she'd been in very bad condition.

They still didn't know how she got to the Arctic, though. And she wouldn't tell them...

After helping out on a few missions (sometimes against Peso's direct orders) the crew dubbed her an official Octonaut. She wasn't a very strong swimmer, but she more than pulled her weight, despite being the youngest on the team (she's like 18 years old and living on her own somehow).

After a while, though, she became an octo agent and went back to live in the Sahara. This was mostly because the constant traveling messed up her sleep schedule really bad (and she's nocturnal, so she probably got less than an hour of sleep each night) and she fell asleep during missions from time to time.

I'm definitely planning on making more stuff about Trixie in the future, so let me know if you want to see more of her on my account so you can learn about her (probably traumatic VERY NORMAL) past!

how do ya think the octonauts crew would deal with being sleep deprived (mainly barnacles 😳) ? i was rewatching the show recently and there’s quite a few moments where they’re woken up in the middle of the night to help creatures so it just got me thinking :O

I feel like Barnacles has absolutely fallen asleep at the wheel once, which was followed by everyone yelling at him until he went to sleep. They all knew he was tired, they could tell, but he insisted he was fine (as he does), and he was not (as he never is).

Tweak is the most fussy about making sure he goes to sleep. Yes, she knows she's a hypocrite. Sometimes if neither of them can sleep for whatever reason, Barnacles comes down to the launch bay, or they both go up to the gamepod, and they play games until they pass out. Tweak also takes melatonin to help her sleep, but she takes it at a specific time, so if she misses that designated time because they're on a mission she just doesn't take them. Cue her playing video games or working on the GUPs until 4am.

Pirates are made for nighttime adventures—or at least that's what Kwazii thinks, so he'll intentionally stay awake long after he starts getting tired. Barnacles and Tweak have caught him doing this several times, and usually invite him to join their games. He's always the first to pass out when this happens. Kwazii also has a habit of sneaking out to go on "monster hunts" if no one else is awake, and similar to Barnacles I feel like he's definitely fallen asleep at the wheel doing this, in the middle of nowhere, freaking everyone out when they wake up and he's missing.

Shout out to Dashi for being the only Octonaut with a relatively healthy sleep schedule. However, Shellington loves to knock on her door just to wake her up and talk whenever he can't sleep. Peso does it too, but only if she's already awake. If he wakes her up he'll feel bad and go back to bed. It's actually hard for her to fall asleep (it takes a while), she's just good at managing it: she takes melatonin, she plays music/white noise because she can't sleep without it, she cleans and makes her bed, she has a whole ritual. She NEEDS this ritual or else she simply will not sleep. The only exception is if she's been awake for 24+ hours already and she's exhausted.

Shellington falls asleep VERY easily. Like, impressively easily—but he also wakes up very easily. He needs to turn his lab into a sensory deprivation room just to ensure he stays asleep. If he still can't sleep, the Vegimals will climb into bed with him and curl up like cats. It's very effective. If, for some reason, he doesn't want to sleep, he will go down to the launch bay or gamepod to join Barnacles and Tweak, if they're there. He's known about them doing that together since he joined the crew, and if he's bored at 2am he may just take advantage of it. One time, he and Kwazii BOTH joined them, and none of them ended up sleeping at all.

Peso preaches to the others about how important sleep is for your health, but he is more than willing to stay awake for a week straight if he's looking after a patient. He has done so at least a few times. However, Barnacles really doesn't like when Peso doesn't sleep (it's the Dad Instincts™), so he will offer to stay up for him. Usually it works, or so he thinks. Peso has a monitor in the sick bay connected to the screen in his room, it tells him his patients heart rate, blood pressure, other stats, etc. and he'll often stay awake, just... staring at it. Kwazii knows he does this, and will check in on him right before he sneaks out. He hasn't ratted him out yet, but he says he will if he doesn't go to bed (he won't really, but Peso doesn't know that).

Inkling is pretty much nocturnal. He spends so many hours sleeping in his chair during the day, that he's not at all tired when night finally comes around. On the bright side, he does enjoy the dark (being a creature whose supposed to be from the midnight zone and all that), and it's good to have at least one person awake to keep an eye on the ship, or listen for someone who needs help knocking on the door. If they're not with Shellington, the Vegimals like to keep Inkling company. They play board games and watch movies in the library, or sometimes Inkling will read them stories. He also likes to call Min. Depending on where they are in the world, it might still be daytime for her. If not, he leaves her a video message of himself just talking about stuff, or the Vegimals being silly.

New on Netflix: December 2020 Releases

The year is almost over. The Hargreeves kids have saved the world and Beth Harmon has checkmated her last opponent. But in its new releases for December 2020, Netflix still has some tricks up its sleeve.

For starters, Netflix is ending this most curious year with some promising original films. David Fincher’s long-awaited Mank arrives on Dec. 4 to fill us in on the story of Citizen Kane‘s screenwriter. Then on Dec. 11, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and James Corden do their best musical impression with The Prom. Chadwick Boseman’s final film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom debuts on Dec. 18. Then George Clooney rounds out the month with The Midnight Sky on Dec. 23.

But of course, it’s in the original series realm where Netflix does most of its work. The biggest one comes at month’s end this December. The final season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premieres on New Year’s Eve. Prior to that, Big Mouth season 4 debuts on Dec. 4 and Shonda Rhimes first Netflix effort Bridgerton premieres on Christmas Day.

Netflix’s library isn’t swelling too much this month with only E.T. and Jurassic Park being the classic genre movies of note. But with that lineup of original films and series, we should have plenty to ring in the New Year with.

This one was originally going to be part of an ask, but I went against it. But it’s an Orson and Ursa, and Bianca cameo.

I made this sketch for a wattpad user’s story about how all the water in the ocean was missing. And Dashi documented it because her camera is dead from overheating.

Random old wattpad drawing I made on Easter for a fanfic called “Operation April Fools” where Dashi and Barnacles are pranking the others into thinking they’re in a secret relationship when really they’re not. A lot of funny interactions with Kwazii, Shellington, and Peso. While Professor Inkling is totally invested and Tweak doesn’t care. And apparently it spreads like wildfire.

Has anyone considered that Shellington could be walking around with stone paper notebooks and astronomer pens?

The books that he reads could also be stone paper, laminated, or synthetic papers. I think stone paper sounds more in character for him since he is an otter, and the idea that they use space pens (which you can use underwater) is icing on the cake. Because they’re like Astronauts but for the ocean. All this I found in a quick google search, but I don’t see anyone posting anything about this. 😔 I’m sure Shellington would be proud of me.

I think he uses a pencil in all instances of writing or documenting though, probably not as reliant as it’s barely readable. 😂

Hi, I have a question for Kwazii and Captain Barnacles! :3

When Kwazii or the Captain is stressing out what do you both do to calm down?

Captain Barnacles : “Even though Kwazii isn’t a little guy anymore, anytime he acts out or gets really upset, I like to wrap him up in a blanket and give him my best bear hugs. I don’t know a whole lot about ‘healing an inner child’ but I feel as though I’ve filled in some fatherly shoes for him… and I know he has his Grandfather. I will always be thankful for that.”
