I’m a shameless Rivalshipper so I actually added a Rivalship scenario in it (AND COOL ALLIE AGREED WITH IT THANK YOU) but they’re kinda the Bad Guys, so if you’re into that here some detail/ramble under cut:

Seto, Atem, and Yugi were childhood friends. With Seto and Atem as princes and Yugi the royal Magician or something, they live in the palace.

So Seto was Atem’s cousin and his father Aknadin was Thirsty for Power and he wanted Seto to take the throne. Seto was under a lot of pressure and Abused since he’s a kid (Mokuba is there too yes, this is pretty much just Gozaburo but it’s Aknadin and he’s plotting to dethrone Atem etc etc) and Yugi and Seto had always been in That kind of relationship and Yugi knows all about Seto’s struggles and all: He’s willing to do Anything for Seto.

SO ANYWAY AKNADIN found out that Atem the crown prince is having an affair with a lowly dancer at some bar and he’s plotting to take advantage of this weakness!!

Long story short, Aknadin wants Seto to kill Anzu, and everytime Seto was Overwhelmed and Desperate he came to Yugi: Seto came to Yugi one night, handing him a picture of Anzu, “Kill this woman for me Yugi” AND FUCK YUGI’S CONFLICTED!!!!! But he did make a poison anyway, but in the end he couldn’t Do It. LONG LONG STORY SHORT Aknadin’s plot got Discovered, and he’s Executed. Meanwhile Seto, Yugi, and Mokuba ran away, and kinda lived in the Nowhere. Sometimes they exchange letters with Atem and Anzu (now King and Queen). The letters got no names, but they just know who send them <3

Viego meeting a Noblewoman

Being the head of the house is never easy, especially when you were a woman. Men often looked down on you, saying you were incompetent and underestimated you. Having had enough of it, you dressed up as a man; as a nobleman, worthy of being the head of the household.

     Exactly two days ago, you received an invitation from the King of Camavor. In celebration of his coronation, he hosted a masquerade ball and you were invited to join. You felt hesitant yet willing to go. No one would know who you are-except for the palace staff checking the invitations-and you could go as what you truly were; a woman. In the end, you did go to the party and as fate has it, met the King.

     There he was, glass of champagne in hand, talking to a noble couple. You stood in the corner, watching. Then, he noticed you. You adverted your eyes from him, looking over to the far right, scanning a portrait of a random woman hanging on the wall.

     Viego excused himself and walked towards you, chuckling to himself. “Forgive me but it seems I do not know you.” The King wore a simple dark emerald green suit with a domino mask to support the idea of a masquerade ball. Simple but classy. While you wore a beautiful evening gown of your favorite color with a matching butterfly mask that concealed your eyes. “You don’t think it’s just the mask?” He chuckled, “Probably.”. The band started playing, you knew the song all to well “Kreutzer by Beethoven in Adagio”. Viego offered his gloved palm to you, “May I have this dance, my lady?” You smiled, accepting his hand and allowing him to lead you to the center of the dance floor.

The rest of the night went smoothly. You and Viego talked and laughed, bidding each other goodbye at the end of the night.

The next morning, when you opened the door of your manor, he was standing there, a bouquet of roses in hand. “Viego?”

“I might be stepping over the line but I would like you to listen.” You urged him to go on. “Last night was a magical one, I have never laughed so much like that and I think you’re the reason behind it. I want to...confess my love for you. It may sound absurd but it’s what I truly feel.”

The ask about the Sloth's era made me curious about something. Are the designs of the main sinners heavily influenced by their time periods? Like, I know there'd be artistic liberties that might make some of them less accurate, but how much of the design was taken from their respective eras? Can you also go a bit in-depth on which arc corresponds to which real life era (I remember you answering this before, but it's been a while). The designs of Gluttony and Sloth I'm most curious about. Thanks!

Yes, for the most part. Venomania's tailcoat looks pretty Victorian to me, but Conchita's dress is I think medieval in style, Riliane's dress is based on the styles of pre-Revolution France, Margarita's is Victorian of course, Kayo's outfit is obviously traditionally Japanese (pre-Meiji Restoration), underneath Gallerian's judge robes he wears a lounge suit which was becoming the fashion in the 1910s-1920s, and Nemesis...uh...

Well, she'd be another outlier like Venomania, I think.

Bear in mind, a lot of the design choices in the series boil down to "it looks cool/it references the VOCALOID", hence why they are inspirations only. A corset would never be worn on the outside the way Conchita wears it (it didn't even exist back then), detached sleeves was not the norm in most European fashion, etc. Similarly, no time period choice is going to be an exact match because not only is Evillious history heavily condensed compared to ours, but it also draws inspiration from many anachronic periods. Like, Daughter of Evil is clearly French Revolution in design, but Arth's expansion campaign feels (to me) very heavily based on Charlemagne (his song is even called medieval by mothy in the video title). Obviously these two things were NOT one right after the other in real life history, but they are in Evillious.

But, to give a rough estimation (and please be advised I am not exactly a historian here),

OSS is clearly classical era, albeit again with a ton of anachronic elements like television. There's a lot of obvious Roman influence which I've talked about elsewhere, drawing from several different periods of its history (Etruscan rule, Republic, Empire), as well as a little bit of Greek.

Venomania's is a little bit trickier for me, pretty much none of the outfit styles in it feel early medieval and I'm not as well versed in the structure of society for back then. Venomania is a Beelzenian noble, Asmodean having been colonized by Beelzenia at the time, which makes me think it's meant to be Byzantine era? The Venomania manga does have some medieval looking outfits in it, so it's not like there isn't anything to it at all (also clear generic Arabian influence in some places). --I don't know, timeline wise it's obviously supposed to be early medieval but I just can't get over Venomania's outfit, which feels like it should be from a much later time period. Lukana says it's becoming the fashion in western Evillious, but if you look at medieval outfits of Europe at the time it's obviously not inspired by any of them.

The Conchita novel feels easier to pin down in medieval history if only because Marlon is currently undergoing a civil war with Lioness at the time, which takes obvious inspiration from England’s War of the Roses. So, probably around the 550s or so.

Daughter of Evil is French Revolution with some medieval mixed in as I've said (Allen's outfit looks almost directly copied from the styles of the time, even).

Sloth is Victorian, though it does draw inspiration from earlier periods as the newspaper is a recent invention, Maistia is a more recent discovery, and so on.

Enbizaka is the most obvious one, featuring a clear Admiral Perry knockoff who is planning to force open Jakoku's harbors with warships the next time she visits, making it obviously shortly before the Meiji Restoration (I believe that's the Tokugawa shogunate?) around the turn of the century. There are elements that feel like they're from older fairytales though, specifically Kokutan's adventures.

Greed and Wrath are both roughly around the same time period, with Gallerian's story taking place around the 1910s (WWI) and Nemesis' story being more around the 1940s (WWII), however it does also take bits from earlier in history as well, such as Maistia having their civil war over slavery around that time (the real-life American civil war being in the mid-1800s).

so! we have one overarching universe (wotog) that almost everything falls under, with the exception of the chromatica crew and the Project 83 kids. and, because we have so many kids and so many ideas, naturally, we’ve come up with (entirely too many) alternate universes to put them in. designated tags for each au are after each description.

this is also gonna be really long so i apologize in advance. everything is under the cut.

pirate: this is actually set somewhere in the beginning-middle of True Canon, after the og crew (minus anne and viren) went around the continent, witherhurst, and decided “yknow what? there’s nothing else to do here, let’s go be pirates i guess” so they proceeded to steal a pirate ship and go be pirates. #pirate au

ccak: cats, coffee, and kink. this is the generic modern au, and i love it so much. to me, this is True Canon but for the modern aus. set in fantasy-modern new york city, it’s basically slice of life as the kids just kinda exist together. #ccak

flowers: ah yes, the soulmate au. [redacted] actually came up with the idea for this one: everyone is born with at least one soul mark. they have one that’s their own, and it takes the shape of their favorite flower somewhere on their body, and is filled in with the actual colors of the flower. but, because this is a soulmate au, most people have more than one mark. okay this is gonna be a little hard to explain so. person A has a rose on the back of their left hand, and that’s their soulmark. they have a romantic soulmate, person B, so they might have a red lily on their right forearm (or wherever it is on person B). they also have a platonic soulmate, person C, so they have a blue daffodil on their leg, and a familial soulmate, so maybe a green peony on their back. and a person doesn’t know what kind of soulmate they’ll have until they meet their soulmate and their marks start to fill in. a person’s personal mark goes gray if they go against destiny and love someone who doesn’t share a mark with them, and their mark fades almost completely when that corresponding soulmate dies. (in addition, fantasy races don’t exist in this one, and if i remember correctly, magic isn’t a thing either.) #flowers

wings: this one is pretty straightforward. everyone has wings (and everyone is human, rather than fantasy races), and it’s great. #wings au

wolf/vamp: so in this one, everyone is human, but can be turned into (or born as, i guess) a werewolf, a vampire, or, in some rare cases, a cross between the two: a vaewolf. this one is kinda grittier to me, but that’s just the impression i personally get from it. #wolf au #vamp au

outbreak: the obligatory zombie apocalypse au, feat. low magic and a very soft magic system. Zombies are made of a mix of magic and disease, so a cure is virtually impossible. Typical gritty ‘everyone’s depressed and just doing their best to survive’ apocalypse shenanigans. #outbreak

hanahaki: self-explanatory. a modern au, i’m imagining it as similar to ccak, but in which the hanahaki disease is a thing and occurs. #hanahaki au

fae-u: a modern-ish au, in which mythical creatures exist! has heavy ties into japanese folklore and myths, with some more western ideas as well. this one is pretty xander-centric. #faeu #fae u

pantheon: the kids are deities! based more on greek mythology, and takes place in ancient greece, if i’m not mistaken. #pantheon

vigilante: heroes and villains are a thing, and where there’s heroes and villains, there’s vigilantes! this one is mostly centered around xander, hatch, and glo. #vigilante #vigilante au  

reaperverse: set in a world where reapers come to collect souls when they die, one stubborn woman (spoilers: it’s eve) simply refuses, and forgets, to die, and shenanigans ensue. #reaperverse

prince and the gardener: based on a tumblr post i'll look for later, the palace gardener falls in love with the prince. they are, of course, none other than hatch and xander. they have therai, palace guard, and eve, reluctant queen, on their side, and life is good. #prince and gardener

warrior cats: the guilty pleasure au. (for me, anyway.) the kids, but set in the warrior cats universe, so they’re all cats. sue us. (actually please don’t, neither of us have any money.) #warrior cats au

dark carnival: Based on the vocaloid song Dark Woods Circus (i lost the link im so sorry), this au is Pippin-centric. Focuses on Pip as they’re dragged to a twisted hell by a demon that goes by the name of Ringmaster (Intem). Everyone in the carnival is a sinner, who was sent to hell for crimes they committed in their lives. Eve and Vik are the twins (Also based off ‘see no evil speak no evil’), Dante’s the deformed diva, and Therai is the blue beast??? He’s the cannibal guy. There’s a happy ending I promise. #dark carnival au

accidental summoning: based on the fic Twine (x) by CrunchyWrites on ao3, hatch is a witch and accidentally summons xander, a demon. they kinda fall in love, but also stuff happens. you’ll see. #accidental summoning

reputations au: ah yes, an au based on an au. this one is based on the fic Reputations (x) by Tromper on ao3. two empires have been at war for the past ten or so years, and it’s been a bloody one. until! each side decides to have their best warriors marry each other as a sort of peace treaty, and it’s a slow burn enemies to husbands to friends to lovers. #reputations au

class swap: basically, we were like “hey what if everyone swapped classes” so! this was born. gotta remember who swapped with who. vik and pippin switched (vik is now a rogue and pippin is a bard), therai and tal switched, i think eve and intem switched, and xander and maybe hatch switched? i think. #class swap

merfolk: everyone is a merfolk! their society is essentially made up of lesserfolk, higherfolk, serpents, and leviathans. anyway it’s life under the sea and it’s great. #merfolk au

pokemon: a pokemon au! we came up with our own region for this one, based on alaska, and it’s actually really good and a lot deeper than i thought it would be! #pokemon au

fairy au: different from FaeU in that everyone is a fairy, instead of mythical creatures. this one is pretty straightforward too. #fairy au

a pirate’s life for me: okay so we were both involved in our school’s production of the musical A Pirate’s Life For Me ([redacted] was cast, i was crew) and after a couple showings we were like “hey new au idea” so. this happened. long story short: eve is a lady, bored of noble life, and decides to go become a pirate to spice things up. her suitor, tal, is heartbroken and says yknow what! if it’s a pirate she wants, it’s a pirate she’ll get! so he goes and becomes a pirate too. eve runs into the notorious Captain Scars (intem) and Captain Vex (vik), and carves a place for herself in infamy as the pirate queen. #pirates life au

warrior princess: [redacted] came up with this one and it’s really cool actually! so, eve is a warrior princess, a role she filled after xander, the kingdom’s warrior prince, mysteriously vanished one day. she fills this role quite well, even if she isn’t particularly happy with her life, until a ~mysterious stranger~ offers to whisk her away to the feywild, so she can be free. (spoilers: she goes with him.) #warrior princess au

the witcher: this has been our hyperfixation for the past couple of weeks (at the time of writing this). marlowe and i decided to watch the witcher netflix series and said “hey new au idea”. i read copious amounts of fics and [redacted] is consuming frankly scary amounts of witcher media, so, this au was born. therai takes the place of geralt, and where would he be without his bard, eve? #witcher au

On Valentine’s Day the symphonic metal band Versailles comes in with a new release, about four years after their latest new work. Following up a powerful greatest hits release, this new mini-album confirms their unique style, with powerful themes, worth of their noble image, and some surprise along the road, result of the influences coming from the members’ side project. So, with another brilliant work, we can only hope that they will continue as band such in a way.

Following up the debut in the previous project, Soan continues his solo path, this time with a great vocalist, Temari, known for being the singer of Amber Gris, who gives a great contribute with his warm and chilling voice. Differently from the previous one, this second mini-album features slower and nostalgical melodies, showing another side of this compelling project.

One of the first disbandments of the year comes from one of the best bands under Starwave Records, Misaruka. They wanted to depart with this third album, filled with the dark and enigmatic vibes already seen in the great mini-album -Floride Umbra-, here empowered by mature vocals and some interesting experimentation. We will certainly miss them, that’s for sure.

Among the newcomers of this year we have the metal band Orcalade, a name which probably won’t say you anything. But if you check the line-up, made of members from bands like Eat You Alive, Carat, Deathgaze and ClearVeil, you will surely be hooked into them. Their debut work shows that they are quite skilled in bringing adrenalinic and engaging melodies and we hope that they will last even more.

Asa - Reijin Automata (Beauty Automata) (15.02.2017) [★★★]

Known for being the bassist of Wagakki Band, Asa has even a solo project, who he reprised with this second album, bringing something from his band and the rest from himself. In general the sound mixes folk-rock elements with electronic, vocaloid and pop themes, but the most interesting part is the versatility shown by this musician, as singer and composer at the same time, for a quite interesting product.

The first mention goes to another newcomer of this year. The visual band Aiolin debuted with a mini-album, already showing that they are not a typical rock band. The singer Hikarito plays violin in each song, making it a fundamental component of their sound, strong and engaging, with a nice electronic touch, making them fresh and innovative for the genre.

Schwarz Kain - Complex (22.02.2017)

The second mention comes from another Starwave band, which you will find quite familiar. In fact Schwarz Kain has three members from the band Tokami and not by case they are named like an album of theirs. In the debut album, they show a meaningful difference with the mentioned band, which is the heavier and adrenalinic sound, accompained by mature vocals and dynamic rhythms, for a good metal release in its own.

Serenity in Murder - The Eclipse (08.02.2017)

In my personal experience, I usually prefer death metal bands which use some dynamic approach for making the songs more listenable and don’t stick with the death vocals all the time. But this final mention for the melodic death metal band Serenity in Murder has not been made by case. Their third album caught my attention not for the vocals, raging and quite enjoyable, but for the complex themes around them; whirling riffs, strong rhythms and unpredictable melodies make this album interesting even for who is keen to powerful instrumental works.

But besides that entire fucking catalog, I find myself and the rest of the female population well under-represented.....Except of course for the huge fucking roster of female characters available.
