Any games like NITW you like? Similar tone/story?

i've seen disco elysium clashing with nitw a lot, and even though that sounds kinda like a stretch i honestly get it. the way nitw portrays its existentialist and political themes might be a bit easier to identify with, and the setting is more familiar to our world too, but i can't stress enough that if you're a fan of either one of these games, you'll PROBABLY love the other.

oxenfree is another short little indie game that i ADORE, and it's crazy how much it reminds me of nitw on multiple aspects. between loads of unique and interesting dialogue choices (which in oxenfree's case actually matter more in the end than in nitw!), the tone and aesthetic and reality-warping visual effects, the overall gameplay, the comedy, and the story of some troubled but ultimately innocent young people being thrown headfirst into a nightmare that they should never have had to take responsibility for??? VERY nitw!!!!!!

i don't know how much i can compare nitw to oneshot thematically, but i have to mention it anyway just for being another life-changing experience that makes you connect with the world so intimately, and also blurs the line between physical reality, fiction and the subconscious in SUPER SPOOKY AND COOL WAYS!!! you also play as a nonbinary cat(?) with big eyes!

TAKE THIS LAST ONE WITH A GRAIN OF SALT because i haven't actually finished it yet, but va-11 hall-a is a very immersive game that also deals with mental health and the way capitalism and social media/news can affect it. it's also just sexy as hell i really need to pick it up again lol
