Fic Idea 9

Okay so I've been reading a lot of star trek fic lately and just rewatched aos so hear me out:

Half-Vulcan!Katsuki and human!Izuku

Katsuki's parents both died in some sort of really traumatic way when he was a very young child (less that 1-2yrs I'm thinking) and he somehow ends up in the foster system on earth.

I'm imagining that his parents weren't on Vulcan and that Nero didn't happen so the planet still exists and vulcans aren't an endangered species. If they were I think it would be really hard for Katsuki to get overlooked since his vulcan heritage would make him quite valuable and precious.

Anyway, his vulcan parent (probably Masaru) met his mother on some kind of diplomatic mission or science academy deployment or something while away from Vulcan and fell in love with her. Knowing that no one would approve but feeling very strongly about her (they're probably extremely compatible or maybe even soulmates), he runs away to be with her. They're together for several years before starting a family and they're either on a world or ship that gets raided/attacked when they die. Probably a ship that's near earth. Because then it would make sense for earth to pick up the survivors and provide support for them. That puts Katsuki in a brilliant position to be placed into earth's foster care system.

Which is a horrible place for a half-vulcan who's got really big feelings about everything (like vulcans do) and all of this sensory/mental input from the other kids and people that he encounters because humans are very tactile creatures who have no understanding of vulcan physiology since the race is so secretive which leaves Katsuki with no one to guide him through the process of learning to control all of it.

And thus: explosive Katsuki who's very angry about things and super aggressive to keep people the fuck away from him so he can have some peace in his own damn mind is born.

Cue him having a really rough life that is fraught with conflict since he's all at once leaps and bounds smarter than all the people around him but has a hairpin trigger on all of his emotions because there's no one around to teach him control and he's is constantly being mentally assaulted by people touching him and is generally "othered" by all of his peers.

Big points for an estranged vulcan Dadzawa here teaching him how to regulate his emotions and pushing him into starfleet where rank and professionalism will keep people from being overly friendly as well as a broader knowledge of alien species and their customs. Besides, Katsuki is bright as hell and doesn't back down from a fight. With a little bit of guidance and some structure he'd make a great officer.

Which is how he ends up in starfleet and meets Izuku. A bubbly, smart, compassionate, and determinedly fierce human who's pursuing a captaincy once he's completed command track.

A human who Katsuki eventually finds out is his t'hy'la. Which definitely happens during some disapproves disasterous ordeal where Katsuki has to mindmeld with Izuku to save his life and they form a weak bond right away that he can feel buzzing around in his head even after they've separated. He doesn't know that Izuku is his t'hy'la until they've been dancing around each other for a few months and he finally gets a chance to speak with dadzawa again and Katsuki brings it up because he just can't figure it out.

Obviously it ends with them getting together and formalizing their bond via a mix of the human traditions that they both grew up with and some vulcan ones that just feel right to Katsuki (after some research and discussion with dadzawa). Overall the ending would be the toothrotting fluff they deserve after a lot of struggle.

I think Izuku's childhood would be much the same as it is in canon. Pretty much single mom raising him who works a lot. Nerdy and scrawny as a kid. Super smart. Super hard worker. Super determined. Mocked for saying he was going to be a starfleet captain one day. Didn't have a lot of friends or good adult figures. It's probably inspired by All Might, an admiral in starfleet who captains a ship and he up in Izuku's town. He's done great things. They met once when Izuku was little and he was so inspired by his stories that it immediately captured all of Izuku's ample imagination.

This is touching on a much larger "issue" in the vidding/editing community than you might realize (although you do seem to recognize it is an issue) but I'm going to try to tackle it in many points.

These are in no particular order.

Your audience doesn't know how long it took to make something.

I know it's hard to come to terms with the fact that sometimes "crappy" things do better than stuff you personally like more, but unfortunately that happens with everyone, all the time. Memes get more traction than well-written anecdotes, headlines get more traction than the actual article, and short vids are often easier to relate to than longer ones with more of a story.

What the internet zeitgeist grabs cannot easily be predicted and is never a judgement of quality. Throw this logic in the garbage, because what goes viral should never have any factor in your self-worth.

Who is your [main] audience for your videos?

If you're making your videos for you, than whatever you like is good. If you like what you end up with, then the video succeeded. If you are making videos to chase audience interaction (which is valid, btw, just not something I personally do), then they need to appeal to a very wide general audience. You'll need to re-assess why the vids aren't getting as much interaction as they used to and adjust your editing style to increase that interaction.

But your past posts don't seem like that's your target. It seems like you make vids for you. So don't think your videos are "bad" because they're not getting likes. They're getting the most important like: Your own.

Of course, it's always nice to be validated by other people. But that's generally not going to happen based on the amount of effort you put into something. It's generally just gonna be with people who vibe with or relate to your content, and if they don't then it won't be shared as much.

Another thing to factor in is where the people who like the stuff you like are located. Maybe your immediate circle is more about conan memes, and you need to go to reddit or something to find the conan romance fans. It could also be timing. Maybe the people who like conan romance aren't online when you post and don't see it. Or maybe it's just luck because the internet and social media are just Like That and totally random. Talk to any artist about trying to play the algorithm to sell more art! 😆

What is the ultimate goal for your videos?

On a per-video basis, you'll generally have a premise for a video.

Things like:

I want to play with new effects

I want to gain as many likes as possible

I want to make an action video

I want to make a character profile that people who have not seen the source video can appreciate

I want to make a good video for a particular song

A "good" video will balance visual entertainment with story, but ultimately, in my experience, it helps to simplify your video down to one goal, and then base all of your following decisions on if those decisions achieve the goal.

As an example, let's say you want to make an action video but your primary interest is the visual effects. This will affect your scene selection, as you should pick scenes that will work better with effects.

Action videos are generally more cohesive when they center around one particular character or duel. If that "plot" were your goal then you'd pick scenes that created a narrative structure aligning with the character or duel's progression.

But since you want to use as much vfx as possible, you may diverge from that cohesiveness by instead injecting a montage of "powering up" scenes with flashy transitions, or maybe you will sidestep the focus on one particular rivalry and include another fight with an unrelated character because that gives more opportunity for better added animation.

This does not make any quality judgements on what is "good" or "bad" when it comes to videos - instead it comes down to whether this particular editing decision advances the ultimate goal of your final video.

Similar to writing, if you're making a persuasive essay, you shouldn't meander onto your own related-but-not-actually-the-topic-of-the-essay rant. The rant might be great, but it's not the purpose of the essay and ultimately just muddies the point you're trying to make (much like this metaphor probably did for my post about video editing, whoops).

First of all:

"Good" or "bad" is so subjective, there is no overseer that can definitely say this is good or bad, because it's art, and art is subjective and on and on. Which I'm sure you know, but it bears repeating anyway.

I have tried to be unbiased for this reply so far, but I have to disclaim before I continue that I come from the "school" of "raw editing" - which is to say, trying to stay away from a bunch of effects - so while I am trying to remain unbiased, what I say next will probably be biased despite my efforts.

Even though there is not a definitive "good" or "bad" in vidding (and if you're hanging out with people who are making blanket judgements like this... don't), we can instead look at art, cinematography, and editing fundamentals for the general "laws".

As fan video editors, we are also essentially our own directors and cinematographers. We can choose which scenes we want to use for certain goals and sometimes even make up our own scenes through compositing.

I made this playlist that is about half fundamentals and half random editing guides. I do still add to it, but it's hard to find videos that aren't bloated (and also related to vidding somehow), so updates are few and far between.

Anyway, of note are:

These are both highly valuable as they can help you not only choose which scenes to put together, but how to position them if you're framing your own shots through zooms and motion effects.

I watched all the videos you linked, and I think you are a good editor that makes what you like and that may not appeal to a broad audience.

I'm not a conan fan, but your vids aren't boring. I'm not a heavy vfx editing fan, but your videos don't look like most heavy vfx shorts. You're either making stuff your own (what I assume) or using presets I'm not familiar with.

WARNING I'M GOING TO CRITIQUE SOME OF YOUR VIDS BELOW

(I assumed you might actually want answers to some of those questions; if not, skip this part!)

The school of thought I come from with vidding says that everything should have a purpose. If my goal is to make a plot-driven vid, then what does a particular effect add to the video?

In this video at 0:04, you have this kind of cut in block thing, and I'm wondering what is this for? Why is it there? To me it's distracting and interrupts the flow.

But it could be a callback to Yu-Gi-Oh somehow? Maybe it's to give the video a feel like it needs to buffer load or something?

I'm not familiar with either source mentioned in the description, so I can't say, but as a general audience member, there's just so much stuff happening visually that I have no idea what's supposed to be happening story-wise. Maybe it's a character profile?

I'm sure you could extrapolate effects and decisions for all your other AMVs. But deciding if something works for your video's goal has nearly zero impact on the time it takes to complete.

Meanwhile, I look at this vid, which seems like a standard romance vid and it seems like a good balance between the romance and the effects; I'd only maybe change one or two things. Nearly all the effects work together to advance the story of the romance, so I'm not sure what went "wrong" here (in terms of lack of audience interaction).

Is accessibility a concern?

Many vfx-heavy amvs rely a lot on motion transitions, which can cause motion sickness! I've gotten motion sick from more AMVs than I care to admit LOL.

But even aside from that, there are photosensitive people, and their photosensitivity triggers are far more broad than just flashing lights.

I noticed all your vids have captions and that you participate on ao3, so it seems like you're hanging out with people who also value accessibility.

In this way, by making vfx-heavy videos you are probably limiting your audience to people who are not photosensitive and/or sensitive people willing to "gamble" on a vfx heavy vid.

What you can do to help curb this is by adding content warnings about photosensitive triggers in your videos. On ao3 these are typically called "physical triggers," but 2 years ago I made a whole system called Vidding Photosensitivity Relay (VPR) .

Basically is comes down to describing what visually happens in your video. In most of your videos cases it would be motion transitions, quick cuts, and peripheral text. These relays (I'd hesitate to call them warnings) give people a better idea of what to expect when it comes to the videos they're watching.

With a better informed decision they could know if they can watch the video now, or later in a different setting, or maybe not at all to avoid a days-long migraine or something similar-- I was very surprised just how many people involved in vidding are photosensitive!

So that may be something to look into. You don't have to use VPR as a system, but it at the very least does list potential triggers and examples so you could refer to those.

Maybe you're just losing focus? Did you go through a writing phase where you had a massive vocabulary and started inserting all the "big words" into everything? The usage is technically correct but the message gets muddied due to the readers perception?

Maybe it's that.

I think re-assessing what your personal goals are, and deciding for yourself what you want to prioritize - your likes vs other people's likes (for starters) - will help.

There is also a need to decouple internet interaction from self-worth, which I know is MUCH easier said than done. But there are SO MANY great artists, editors, people in general, who don't get much interaction because the algorithm doesn't prefer them and/or they don't market themselves. That doesn't make them worth any less than the people who make it their priority to market themselves instead of create art.

I hope this whole post doesn't come off as patronizing or anything!

lol. I stayed off social media for a day and all I see is chaos and the potential that tom might go to the MET. Lol Im not gonna spoil anyones fun, if they do show up that would be an unexpected surprise.

From my POV, Im not convinced they'll show up. Zendaya style files while sometimes get things right, it strange that they have the sources that can confirm both timothee and toms presence both of which have teams that are very tight lipped and brands who would not reveal that information to a zendaya style page.

Also of all met galas why would they (tom and zendaya) go to one that is celebrating karl lagerfeld (a transphobic, fatphobic, racist mfer). What fashion house invited tom, hes not connected to any them with the exception of prada but his deal with them has ended. Apple isnt paying for a table to promote TCR why in the world would they.

Lastly, Law is not there. Zendaya is fully capable of styling herself, I also very much think zendaya is receptive to the idea of having LV dress her from time to time but for the MET Gala one of the most important fashion events, I think she would want Law to be there being her stylist as stunning as she is on the met gala red carpets, they have always been platforms for her to show off her collaboration with law.

I hope Im wrong, I would love for them to show out but personally I havent seen enough for me think they'll be there.

You're more than welcome to rant as much as you want, anon! 😆 Actually, I believe you've summarized pretty well Alex's career and his relationship with the fandom, I couldn't agree more. Back in 2020-2021, I also used to have a fanpage on IG about him, but after that interview you mentioned, where he completely dismissed his fans, it dawned on me that he didn't realize how important such things are for his popularity as an actor, and that it wasn't worth the time and energy we spent on finding and editing content, translating interviews, etc... on someone who didn't appreciate these efforts and even felt annoyed by them. Let alone traveling and investing quite an amount of money on attending conventions.

Although, it seems that for the past year more people started to realize this, or just moved on to support other artists, since a lot of the remaining fanpages seem to be a lot less active than before and the mood in general feels different, as if they're posting something here and there just for the sake of it, but the engagement seems to be less and less. So I'm actually super curious to see how the Paris convention next week will go. 🤷‍♀️

Someone’s mad that people are questioning if her butt is real or fake. I mean wasn‘t it just a couple of days ago (i could be wrong) where that someone announced she doesn’t care what the internet is thinking about her. Sigh

Some thoughts: - Shout out to the first commenter I see on the original post telling people not to give her another reason to talk about herself. 😆 - She obviously puts in the work to tone her backside, but *I* think her choice of attire adds to the discussion. Anyone who wears yoga pants or another type of athletic clothing for the lower body knows that a lot of them are designed to lift your butt in order to give it a more "proper" shape. (People aren't/haven't been as quick to comment when she's wearing jeans or sweats, in comparison.) - In an ideal world, everyone would be able to approach one another on the internet with kindness and respect, but we have no control over other people's behavior. I feel the same way about her as I do whenever Oliver gets in his feelings about literal kids (teenagers!) venting because Buddie ain't happening. If you're in the public eye, if you PUT yourself in the public eye and you know you care too much about outsider opinions, you have two choices: Disable comments or close the damn screen. Negativity can only go as far as you'll allow it. [I'll say this, though. Miss G ain't helping herself with the defense attack. The smart ones know not to get offended over stuff that isn't true!]

Crime O'clock - Demo Review

After a lovely day, I was having a terrible evening thanks to a letter from my local city council. I decided to sit down and play the Crime O'clock demo cause it seemed like it would lift my spirits. I think this game was a recommendation from Payton's Corner?? I'd have to go through my youtube and check. I'm pretty sure it was a rec though, as this is not the kind of game I would usually demo. It's marked as a hidden object and time travel game and I would not have looked twice at it if it wasn't recommended. But oh my goodness, I had so much fun and I absolutely adored it.

So the premise of the game is that there exist a True Timeline and occasionally, people try to disrupt this timeline through crime. As a time detective, your job is to solve these crimes in order to preserve the True Timeline. In the game, some mysterious force seems to be trying to disrupt the timeline by doing a lot of little crimes over a spread of time as opposed to one big crime. You have to figure out who they are, foil their plans and save the time as we know it. The demo only scratched the surface of the plot but it explained it very well in the short time and leaves you excited for more. Now, onto my thoughts.

First of all, I want to point out that this is a genuinely unique premise, like I've heard of nothing else like it. I feel like sometimes in gaming (in everything really), things are starting to feel more and more like a rift off an existing idea as opposed to something new and fresh. Crime O'clock is a true one of a kind story that feels like it's breathing a breath of fresh air into my gaming catalogue(or more realistically, my wishlist).

On the technical side, the music was fun and upbeat and matched the mood of the game well. The graphics were very pretty, despite being mostly in greyscale, and the points that used colour were so distinct that it almost feels like each colour palette is distinctly for a certain part of the game. Mechanically, it was a point and click game, so not much there to mess up I don't think.

The actual game is excellent. In the game, you work with your AI, EVE, who helps you, provides guidance, tools, and if you ask, hints. The dialogue from EVE is funny (in my opinion at least) and is a perfect balance of informative and entertaining. The plot is fun and makes you think but it isn't overwhelming. The setting is so out there, and combined with the cute art, animal characters, and combination of past & present with outrageous technology like teleportation portals (yes it sounds wild, but it fits so well), it all makes it just silly enough that you don't take it too serious and use too many braincells.

The puzzles aren't easy but they aren't overly complex. I only had to use the hint system once and there's no punishment for using a hint. Despite it technically being a hidden object game, it didn't feel like one as I was playing, mostly because it's so unlike any hidden object game I've played before.

I feel like, the length of this review tells you how much I loved this game and this was only the demo.  I will definitely get this game once my employment status has been sorted. I feel like the last couple of demo reviews I posted have been "will buy when I have money" like Another Code and Wylde Flowers but that's mainly cause they've been the ones that excite me enough that I have the energy to write a review. I am working on a post called "Games I demoed and did not like" that's currently 6 games and counting, so it's not all 5 stars over here, that's just what excited me right now.

Overall, I definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzle-ly or detective cosy games and is looking for something new.

Recovery Shopping

I went on a little Amazon shopping spree yesterday to get all the items I need for a (hopefully) successful recovery. And as someone who loves to shop - it was a nice little break from all the worrying I've been doing about this surgery.

Ever since I've found out that I was going to have this operation, I have been all over the internet to get tips, advice, and ideas on what sort of items I might need post-op in order to have a successful recovery. I think I got myself a pretty good haul. I don't know how much of this stuff I will actually use, but I figured I'd rather be over-prepared. So, here's what we have. (incase you, reading this, might be going through the same thing):

a grabber - to reach things that might be hard to get, things that fall on the floor, etc.

a bedside cart - tall enough so that I can just reach over and grab whatever is on the cart (cell phone, book, meds, etc.)

a pack of men's pajama pants - large enough so that the waist band will not be rubbing up against or sitting on top of my incisions.

a couple of nightgowns - in the event that pants just aren't working

GRANNY PANTIES - again, so that the band comes up/over my incisions. At least they come in cute colors?

grippy socks - I ordered like 10 pairs of these. I'm clumsy enough as it is. We don't need any falls or other potential accidents while I'm recovering.

a squishmallow - I had no idea what this was... but I cannot tell you how many hysterectomy recovery lists had this item. But, it's just a really cute, really soft, stuffed animal/pillow. Apparently it's great to hold up against your stomach during car rides (so that the seatbelt isn't directly on your stomach/stitches). It also helps I guess to be able to hold this against my stomach if I laugh or cough. And honestly, it's just cute to look at. I got a sloth. 😆

body wipes - pretty self explanatory. for those days where a shower seems like too much work.

peppermint tea - to help with nausea.

ginger candies - to help with nausea.

a weighted heated blanket - I actually ordered this on black friday and it might be one of the best purchases I ever made just in general. So cozy. Anyways, the heat and weight will help with pain, in addition to the ice packs I already have.

Miralax and Gas-X - I wasn't prepared for this. But apparently this surgery can cause a lot of problems with bowel movements. It seems women either struggle with this, or have no problems at all... one extreme or the other. yikes.

On top of this, I've had a few friends give me some supplies too. 🥰 I got a nice care package from Michigan with some Faygo, Tim Horton's Coffee, chocolates, a book to read, some puzzle books, and a card game. It totally made my day and brought me to tears when it arrived. I also had a friend give me a stuffed animal filled with lavender and other good smelling things that I can throw in the microwave - it acts as a nice, soothing heating pad. It's already been used a lot to help with the pain I've been having for the past few weeks.

Anyways, while I'm still pretty nervous/worried about the operation itself, I think I'm pretty well prepared for everything that comes after. I even have a lonnnnng list of movies and TV shows to watch as well as a number of books to read.

@warmmilk-n-honey reminded me in comments about Yana-san's old tweet about Vincent being largely raised by Tanaka. That's probably another good situational hint.

In the past, I'd mostly been focusing on Yana-san's hint that Tanaka must also have quite the dark or evil streak, but him raising Vincent (and presumably Francis/Frances, too) also suggests something else: neither parent was around much.

It's true that Yana-san makes Vincent out to be the typical Victorian father, in that he doesn't interact with his children all that much, but he does have his fatherly moments, even though he's also watchdog, and we never really get the sense that Tanaka has to essentially raise the twins. Rachel spends much of her time at home, and Aunt An also spends a lot of time helping with them. We only see Tanaka fill in when the rest of the family is on the boating trip, while our earl stays home. There might be other situations like that one, but the twins usually have their mother and aunt around, and their father is clearly their father.

But Claudia/Cloudia herself is the watchdog, so she's away much of the time, just like Vincent a generation later. Whoever Cedric turns out to be, he isn't around much, if ever. One could argue he's at the manor but largely ignoring his children, leaving the servants to fill in for their mother... or that he dies soon after Francis/Frances is born (or at least conceived).

It's also possible that he is around... but not allowed to interact with his children as their father. Much like Undertaker hangs around the manor when the twins are young, but he doesn't present himself as their grandfather.

I've posted before that Claudia/Cloudia might have initially told her children that their father is dead, in order to cover up his actual existence as a reaper. And that he does visit from time to time, but either as "Undertaker" or in some other guise or occupational role.

Yana-san even gives us a teaser with an old sketch she did of Undertaker with a young boy -- but just one -- holding a book. Is it supposed to be one of the twins? Probably not. It's likely Vincent.

And it's easy to find other posts about this by clicking the tag for #jonah? or searching "jonah" in my blog. But there aren't many so, here's X, X, and X (though this last one incorrectly says Adrien Crevan came from a fanfic; it actually came from a headcanon blog that got the name from coverage about a true crime).

So, this sketch reminds me a lot of when Mr. Pitt asks Undertaker to help him set up the photo of the twins. Ch131:

In the sketch, the boots might be the same, but the little sailor outfit is a bit different. I suppose it could be one of the twins, but I suspect it's Vincent. And the kid is turned away from us, so that we can't see a beauty mark! 😆 But Undertaker's reaction in the sketch is very similar, like "You mean meee?" And I can completely see him treating Vincent and Francis/Frances the same way he treats the twins, at least when they were very young.

The cover art for ch132 has Vincent reading The Fenian Cycle to the twins. So, I'd love for it to later become canon that Undertaker reads Jonah and the Whale (or whatever that book is) to young Vincent. Even better if Francis/Frances is also there.

So, Tanaka does much of the parenting because Countess Phantomhive is busy in her watchdog role, and Cedric is who-knows-where. If Undertaker is Cedric, then even less chance there was a proper marriage, given the fact that Cedric apparently wasn't filling the usual role of father. Canon could have any number of excuses for Cedric not being around (much), but having Cedric be Undertaker explains a lot. He'd likely pretend he's not their father. Just a weird associate of their mother's who visits for business but occasionally bumps into the kids and gets pulled into interactions with them. And he enjoys every minute of it!

And I should think that Vincent and his sister wouldn't have known at first, but they would have found out... possibly not until Vincent becomes watchdog.

Why I think Undertaker has to be Cedric, revisited

At this point in the series, I'm a bit surprised how many in the fandom not just don't see him as Cedric K. Ros-- but actually rail against the idea.

So, here's a long, somewhat thorough overview of the situational and physical clues that he's Cedric, the father of Vincent and Francis/Frances.

Situational hints

How he cries over the details of Vincent's death. Not just that he died but what became of his remains. I'd cry over my dead son, too, especially if I had the ability to reanimate corpses but his body was destroyed by fire so that I couldn't do that. Let alone the fact his cinematic records were destroyed, so I not only couldn't make a bizarre doll of him, but I couldn't even review his memories to see what happened right before he died. This ties in with what he later says about not wanting to lose any more Phantomhives. But it strongly suggests that whoever set the fire did so specifically to thwart the efforts of a grim reaper. Whoever did that either knew Undertaker was a reaper or was at least following the instructions of someone who knew.

The whole not wanting to lose more Phantomhives thing. Claudia/Cloudia is gone, and so is Vincent. Reanimating real Ciel is the best he can do to not let the older twin go. He tried to destroy Sebastian to release our earl "Ciel" from their demon contract and might try again. Makes you wonder just how many Phantomhives he's really lost already. As well as where others might still be alive. What exactly was his business in France? 🤔

Even his odd comment to our earl (before the attack) that he wasn't sure which twin this was... but that it didn't matter because they were both Phantomhives. Instead of seeing an heir and a spare, he saw them equally. At least he did then. I suspect he now sees our earl as a spare soul... or conversely sees real Ciel as a spare body. I guess both could be true, making them still essentially equal in his eyes. Again, this could be another attempt to save our earl from Sebastian. By putting our earl's soul into the unmarked body of real Ciel, that might void the contract... unless the seal on our earl's eye also somehow affected his soul. 🤔 Anyway. I digress, since that gets into a separate theory discussion.

Standing in to help young Mr. Pitt take a photo of the twins. That's right after telling our earl it doesn't matter which twin he is. Then the other twin and Mr. Pitt arrive, the latter holding a new camera. It's odd that Mr. Pitt would ask a non-relative of the kids (besides a nanny) to help stage the photo, though Pitt is perhaps the non-traditionalist anyway. Undertaker seems like he's shocked to be asked, but he also seems amused. Mr. Pitt likely doesn't even suspect Undertaker is the twins' paternal grandfather, otherwise he might have seen it as a scoop, á la "LOWLY UNDERTAKER IS SIRE TO PROMINENT NOBLE FAMILY" or something equally scandalous. Because undertakers were considered low class citizens. So, Undertaker acts shocked but complies with giddy delight. By asking Undertaker to help stage the photo, he has likely, unwittingly asked a relative of the boys, which would be considered completely appropriate for the time period.

How he treats the Midfords. He recognizes Lizzie's talents and skill with a sword, otherwise he wouldn't have wanted her at Sphere Music Hall as a protector of the lords of the stars, while he kept them and Blavat hidden away. So he probably had Blavat bring her into the cult. Undertaker might see some of himself in Lizzie, but he definitely sees it in Frances/Francis, and I don't just mean physically. Both women fight in a similar manner as he does: highly skillful and graceful. Idk what he thinks of Edward, but I know he got a great laugh from watching the Phantom Five (including Edward) perform onstage. He doesn't interact much, if at all, with Alexis, who isn't a Phantomhive.

What he says to Francis/Frances, as well as how she responds. Again, he hardly acknowledges Alexis' existence, but Undertaker speaks directly with "Lady Phantomhive". That's really important because she's married into the Midford family and hasn't gone by her maiden name in many years. As long as Edward is old plus at least a bit longer, since she strikes me as too proper for a shotgun wedding, even if she weren't a noble. So, he sets her apart from her husband because she was born a Phantomhive. He doesn't want to lose her, either, because she is her mother's daughter. Then, when she nervously states he hasn't changed in roughly four years, he pokes fun at the fact he hasn't changed in a much longer time frame. He says her birth, over 30 years ago, seems like just yesterday. She's sweating bullets, and it's not just his creepy vibes. She knows he means it -- that 30-some-odd years is nothing to him... and that he very specifically recalls her birth. I'm pretty sure she knows he's her father, and she's horribly embarrassed by the fact. Alexis doesn't have a clue about it, and she'd rather keep it that way. But what he says strongly implies that he was present at her birth. Maybe down the hall, like Vincent was when his sons were born, but there... and just as anxious and excited and proud.

How the years for Cedric's birth and death dates are hidden by a speech bubble. Cloudia/Claudia's dates are fully shown because she's a regular human being. Well... a human, anyway. But if Undertaker is Cedric, then the birth and death dates for him would be from when he was a human, before he committed suicide and was sentenced to serve out his punishment as a reaper. That death date could be decades or even centuries before Cloudia/Claudia was even born. Remember that this family tree isn't one prepared by humans; it's part of the dossier that the German reapers have for our earl. The focus is purely biological ancestry, not marriages. Cloudia/Claudia and Cedric don't have to be married to be on this family tree; he is biologically the father of both Vincent and Francis/Frances.

Physical hints

He looks a lot like Francis/Frances and Edward. And Yana-san tweeted years ago that Francis and Edward look like Cedric. Here's a comparison between Edward and Undertaker. Here's one between Francis/Frances and Undertaker.

The place on his right where his hair has a long braid seems to match up with Lizzie's and Francis/Frances' right side locks that tend to stick out. He's got it tucked behind his right ear, but the braid might originate from the same spot. If Lizzie and her mother pushed those locks back, behind their right ears, the placement would be the same as Undertaker's braid.

He has the exact same baby hairs at the nape of his neck as Lizzie and Francis/Frances. They might be a bit shorter, but they are definitely there. Here's an old post about it. Edward possibly does, too, and we could tell if his hair was grown out and pulled up, but his hair is short and a bit shaggy on the nape of his neck, so we can't be sure.

And if you're a sorcerer, he would absolutly love training with you, even if it is just to brag about how strong he is.

Gojo would love your voice. He's a super talkative guy, so when you get to talking, especially a lot, he would absolutely melt.

He would also love the way you present yourself. Just how you walk around with him or even alone, he's just obsessed.

And because it's Gojo, he would obviously love how much you love him. He can't get over the way you pet his hair or tell him how beautiful his eyes are. He turns into a little puppy.

You cannot tell me that this man's love language isn't physical touch. He knows that if you're having a bad day, the best way he can think to cheer you up is pulling you into his long arms, running his fingers through your hair and waiting for you to tell him what's up.

He's not the best at cheering someone up through words, so he'll usually just listen to you and then take you to get some food or something. Because let's be real, food helps with everything.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Gojo could never see himself growing apart from you. He definitely wants a pet of some sort and knows that he wants to live with you forever, even if marriage isn't in the equation. He always does see you being a major part of his life though.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

Gojo acts like the dominant one, but it's most definitely you. I mean, you would have to order for him at McDonalds, let's be real.

But other than that, the relationship is pretty equal. Gojo doesn't see himself better than you in any certain aspect except for strength and because of that, he becomes dominant whenever he feels like he needs to protect you. So if there is a situation where you need help or are in a lot of danger, his goody act disappears and he will go into complete serious mode to save your life.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

This man is such a baby. If the two of you get into a fight, he will get super pouty (if you've seen Haikyuu when Bokuto goes into emo mode, it's a lot like that). He will cross his arms and pout at you, saying that he's waiting for an apology. He also always thinks he's right for some flipping reason, so he is like an impossible toddler.

He would be awful at forgiving. And apologizing. It would always end with "I guess". You would have to step up as the mature one and try to figure stuff out, but Gojo, being the baby he is, would make it pretty impossible.

Arguments wouldn't last long though. They always last like a day of some pouting and then he gets mad that you aren't hugging him, so it always ends with a really long cuddle session on the couch.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

Gojo loves you more than anything, but I don't think he notices some things you do for him most of the time.

You'll take care of him after a long day by healing him up if he got injured and giving him a bath, but he doesn't really notice it until it dawns on him and he goes through this whole crush on you phase all over again.

After that, he is so thankful that your his and vise versa.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

This man overshares. He will tell you his whole day inside and out, but he will not bring up the past (I haven't read the manga, so I don't really know about his past, but I know it's pretty spicy I think???). He doesn't even drops hints. He'll just tell you his entire day and that's it. You don't know about his past before he met you.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

I think Gojo taught you how to be more laid back. You were always so serious and working, but he brought you out of it, that smile, that laugh, he was such a goofball that it was contagious, and for that you are thankful.

I don't think he changed all that much when he met you, but I think you may have helped him be a little bit more mature, but let's be real, you just speak for the man baby now. But you love him more than the world, so it doesn't matter.

You did make him happier though. Much happier. He couldn't imagine a life without you.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

In his heart, he thinks that he is a very composed guy when it comes to that kind of stuff, but he definitely isn't. The man will lose it when he sees you talking to another dude.

I think, back to the pouty thing, he would get really upset. He would ask what you were doing with that dude, and it doesn't matter what answer you give, he still get's a little misty eyed with his bottom lip poking out and quivering.

And if he saw you talking to another sorcerer who could protect you, for example, Nanami, he would just be pissed at that point. It's one thing if it's just a dude, but someone who has the capacity to protect you when that's his job? He hates it. He wants to be the only one who can protect you, no one else should even think that they could. Which leads him to get jealous when he sees someone help you fight. It really gets under his skin.

I'm going to be honest, I don't think Gojo would think about marriage. He knows he wants you in his life forever, but he won't consider marriage until you bring it up. Then he's all over the idea. He would want a big cheesy wedding with all of his friends and just make it so over the top and goofy, but he would just be crying the whole time the moment he sees you walk the aisle. Would 100% shove the cake in your face.

This buttface would have the goofiest nicknames for you. Goober, cupcake, four eyes (if you wear glasses), red or ginger (if you have red hair), goldilocks (if you have blonde hair), doofus, dork, cutie pie, cutie patooty, etc. He's a menace and you definitely have more than one nickname.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

Absolutely over the moon for you. He would constantly wrap his arms around you, pulling you in for a hug.

It is way too obvious for others. They see the way he looks at you, even if you're just sitting and doing work.

This man is not shy to kiss you in front of 200+ people. He will tell everyone and everything about his relationship. He never fails to mention you in conversation. He definitely brags about you saying how cute you are or smart you are or strong you are.

If anything, a crowd makes him want to kiss you more, showing everyone that you two are together and you are not up for grabs.

Gosh, this was a really long time ago I either wrote something or just came up with something that he would have that stupid trail of rose petals leading to the room to find him in his boxers and a pair of thigh highs as he does the eyebrow raise and the "been waitin for you to get home".

He would buy you chocolate and take you out places (nothing fancy though). He would rather go bowling as a date than to a fancy restaurant (which, like, same). So he is super romantic in a cheesy way whilst being creative, which makes going out with him the best time.

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

I think you are both very separate when it comes to goals. You are okay with doing your own thing and he's fine with doing his. If anything, it's better that way.

But he'll ask how it's been going and he'll be super supportive. He will never step in though. He doesn't want to ruin your momentum, he'll just leave you alone and watch from a distance with a big smile on his face.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

This relationship is dependent on the craziest things. Skydiving? Yes. Trips to different countries? Yes. Going to theater shows"? Absolutely.

There is never really a routine unless they have work, but even then, he'll find a way to surprise you with something new. He loves spontaneous things and it's even better to try them with the person he loves most.

Sure, Gojo may be good at cheering you up, but emotions? Nah. This man cannot get a hold of what you could be feeling. It's confusing to him. He doesn't want to mess anything up, so if it's super serious, the most he can provide is a pat on the back and a big hug. He is still trying to learn what you could be feeling at certain times, and it's hard for him to deal with you when you are super down because he is happy and optimistic most of the time.

Gojo did not realize how much he needed you before you showed how much you needed him. He needs you in order to keep his life happy and rolling. He didn't realize that without you, he literally can't operate.

You went on a trip to visit your family one time and his whole world felt empty. He couldn't get his day ready because he was so used to you being there. It's not like you were doing everything for him, but the little you did provide made a big difference in his life.

He values you more than life itself and will take 20 bullets to protect you and keep you in his life.

YES!

This man cannot keep his hands off of you. There is always a moment when the two of you are together that he has his hand on your hip or around your shoulder. I don't ever see him without his hand at least touching your hand or something.

He loves kisses and cuddles and just having his body pressed to yours. It helps him sleep at night and that's what he loves the most.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

He will cry. I just see it.

As I said earlier, he can't sleep without you cuddling him, so that would be the hardest thing for him. He needs your weight on the bed. You offered to get him a weighted blanket, but it's just not the same.

The whole world feels empty when you're gone and it's kind of hard for him to handle. Oh what a sweetheart.

Gojo will do ANYTHING for you. When he realizes how much he needs you, he will do anything. He will protect you, he will use his strength. He will even let you go if he needs to. I agree with you about the Hades double standards - like, I absolutely have my personal sticking points of "NO, I absolutely LOVE this prominent male Greek God and I WILL square up to defend His honor!!" but.... doing that by pretending the myths aren't the way that they are is just gonna make things worse, and it's so frustrating to see that happen. I can relate to the impulse!! But talking about actual religious practice is much more productive than misrepresenting mythology, yknow?

EXACTLY!!! And I totally feel you about defending a gods honor! I mean I do that a lot here mainly with Zeus but exactly what you said I defend him by using the actual religion as well as trying to educate people on the function of mythology. I also don’t villainize other gods in order to defend Zeus. But that’s the problem when you take mythology literally. In order to absolve a god of their sins (and I’m speaking that way on purpose bc this is ALL influenced by Christianity whether they realize it or not) those sins have to be placed elsewhere. So in order for Hades to be the goth boy of their dreams who has done nothing wrong his entire existence, Demeter and Zeus need to bare all the weight of those “evil doings”.

But just as you said, all this could be fixed if they just LISTENED to us when we said the gods are more than their mythology. They can still have their version of Hades (whether I agree with it or not that really isn’t my issue here) while leaving Zeus and Demeter out of it. And maybe I’ll stop getting shitty comments on my Zeus posts…probably not but a guy can dream 😆

I'm about to try making my own bubble tea 🧋 from scratch.

(I would like everyone to acknowledge that this is @staykimchay's fault. If you haven't yet, go read the insanely good "my bubble tea brings all the boys to the yard". And then all her other insanely good stories.)

I couldn't find any tapioca starch in stores so I ordered it on Amazon. (Went with "Cock brand" because it makes me laugh.)

That's a 400g bag so it should get me through 4 attempts if this goes horribly wrong. The recipe looks simple so I should be fine 😸

Ingredients:

Started with not enough water (dough was too crumbly) then added too much (too sticky, half of it stayed on my hands when I started kneading it) and it was all lumpy 😿

It's also likely that the heat instructions aren't good for the type of stovetop I'm using. So I'm going to adjust that on the next try too.

The 2nd attempt looks (and feels) a lot better so I'm going to go ahead with the next steps. I used barely a 3rd of the tapioca in it though… we'll have to see what happens.

Some notes:

The recipe asks for 80ml of water in the ingredients but 30ml in the cooking steps. One of these is not like the others 😆. Given what happened to both of my attempts I'm going to say 80ml is the right one. (I used about 50ml in the second but not all the tapioca.)

Making a lot at one time is not a good idea. The dough becomes increasingly harder to shape as it cools down. Some of my tapioca pearls are not pearl shaped at all 😆.

I used maybe 60/70g of tapioca for the dough but used a lot while shaping the pearls to make sure it didn't stick so I had about 15g left.

Alright, the pearls are cooked and taking a brown sugar syrup bath for added flavor. (Note: don't forget the ice bath between cooking and flavoring or the pearls stick together.)

While that's going on, I'll prepare the tea 🍵.

I'm going to test one with Green Sencha tea 🍵 and one with Earl Grey tea ☕. I'm letting them both steep for a while because I want a strong tea flavor.

I'm going to let the green tea and half the pearls cool down to drink cold later.

It's a lot of work for 2 servings of bubble tea. I need to see if the uncooked pearls can be frozen (or conserved in some way) for later use.

It's really nice to sit down and write this post from my "in-action" notes with a cup of bubble tea in hand.

The green tea has taken a lovely brown color from the tapioca pearls. I added about a teaspoon worth of honey to sweeten it and some ice cubes to make it really refreshing.

Washing my Dolls Hair:

Our system has been trying to dedicate some extra time for looking after our dolls, and it has worked, but we haven't managed to post it like we wanted to. So, we're posting all together some of the stages. This is the hair washing stage.

Trigger warning for semi doll nudity. They cover themselves in the pictures, but they aren't wearing clothes, because, well... water 😅😆

Day 1

This is the first time we've washed a dolls hair in ages. It was trial and error, but we did okay. We forgot to get a before look, so here are the after picks;

Day 2

We had our order rolled out by now. Like, dish wash, shampoo, condition. So, the pacing was fast. Bella went in again for a hot water soak, which was awesome! And it was done smoothly. It was interesting really looking into the parts and dealing with the girls hair coming down from their pigtails too. And I did a little plat into Phaedra's hair too, which is why it's tied back in the final shot. There's before and after the clean. Also, Bella's hair was still too curly. She's here because we run her under some hot water also at the end.

Day 3:

I am a relatively new European army determined to see them live (kkkk we’re a lot i guess 😅) and i’m smelling the possibility for a new tour in 2022 after those LA concerts announcements… 🧐 i was wondering if Army membership worth it in order to have tickets? I getting ready to fight 😆 my ultimate goal would be front row or/and soundcheck access but I guess I’ll take anything as long as I can attend kkkk. Do you have any idea how the process to get tickets goes? Does the army membership help for that (I think you have access to pre-sale with the membership?), especially for the front row/soundcheck? I’ve read contracting things online so I’m a bit lost. I hope you’ll be able to attend a concert as well! I’m so happy the boys are going to see Army soon!

Hello! I definitely won't be as much help as someone who HAS been threw the process before. But to my knowledge, yes having the membership will help. You get first dips to getting in line for tickets with the membership I believe. And BTS sold out Wembley in under 2 hours.... soooo getting tickets is HARD AF. I would recommend trying to have as many advantages as you possibly can if you are trying to enter that blood bath at any point. Especially because you really aren't just fighting people locally for tickets. People travel all over the place. Like for this PTD concert in LA, I have heard of a lot of K army who are also going to be trying to get tickets in and travel here as well as other international ARMY. And tons of US army are making travel plans to try and get there as well. If anyone has any better advice, feel free to let us know!

4 - what’s an inside joke you have with your family or friends?

I'm not sure if I mentioned this somewhere or not so I'm just going to expound on it in case I did. So, when I was in college, Deo knew a person named Pavel. He was okay, until he kept talking about killing cats (supposedly as a joke) well after I asked him to stop because it bothered me, so I warned him I would hit him if he didn't and then he egged me on and on and on until I was basically beating the shit out of him and he finally caved and turned to Deo and said "aren't you gonna stop her?" Deo laughed. "Dude, you literally asked for it. I ain't stopping shit."

Second instance. It's 3 weeks before finals and Pavel knows I'm a math nerd and that I'm interested in tutoring for some side money, so he asks for help. I make it clear that I will help and not do his work for him (because he's that kind of guy) and ask where he is in the book. He says 1.6, as in chapter 1 part 6. I'm thinking, okay, maybe the teacher taught it out of order because sometimes they do that.

No.

This m***f*** thought I'd be able to tutor him the entire freaking math book in a week and a half and still have him magically pass his final. So I told him that we're starting on 1.6 but there's no way I'm going to be able to teach him in 1.5 weeks what would take a teacher to teach in 3 months and that we probably wouldn't get far enough for him to pass, unless he lives, breathes and eats math 24/7 until then. And I have my own classes, so I can only help him out maybe an hour or two a day. He gives up right then and there and drops out of college that semester.

Okay, so inside joke.

There's this answer card in Cards Against Humanity that says "My Uber driver, Pavel". Besides the fact that he has an orgy with Stag and the pizza guy in one particular game, Deo and I just see it as "of course that's all he amounted to" and "never thought I'd see him again" and "think he still needs help with math?" and "he better not be running over any cats or I'ma beat the shit out of him again". No one else knows him in our little world. Just me and Deo. And every time that card shows up, we just snicker to each other and maybe add "at least he still has his Uber job". 😆

Maybe that's mean, but like, two bad impressions, man. You are not my favorite person. Glad you're still with Uber though! 👍

40 - any bad habits?

Plenty. If only I can remember them all… Current irritating one: I have the beginning of arthritis in my hands and feet but can't stop stretching (good!)/ popping (not good!) them. I'm a notorious procrastinator. (As in I decided to answer this instead of doing my Character Tuesday post. >.>) I'm almost always late to things, work, chiropractor, other work. They just kind of accept it because I'm good at my job and I'm not that late overall. And my chiropractor puts up with it because I'm a party of one and I've been going there longer than the current chiropractor's been working there and that's impressive.

Um… I shut down and start a negative (and hugely unrealistic) downward spiral during fights. Sometimes I go down so far so fast that it's paralyzing, I guess. I'm very chatty, but I rarely talk about the stuff that really matters. I'm trying to get better about that. (Hence me even mentioning it here.) I'm a people pleaser in the work environment… A person or two know what I'm referring to when I say that. And I'm sure there's more. All my bad habits are WIPs that I'm trying to fix right now. 😆

Yea I def think that they would have reconnected over the Emmy nod REGARDLESS. Plus, let's get real, the pandemic made all of us think about what is really important in life. During this pandemic I have reached out to friends/ppl that I haven't spoken to in a while, and those who I may not have ordinarily reached out to just to see how they've been doing and are holding up.

I kinda feel like Tom and Z would have reconnected one day even without the Emmy nod tbh. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I just honestly felt like they had unfinished business, and the way they broke up was just...... idk.... you could just tell that there were a lot of emotional things that maybe weren't said, maybe even a lot of hurt feelings, and "stuff" that had built up over the years...... like it was just....a LOT. It just always felt "unfinished" to me for some reason. Almost like they needed to have a serious talk with each other at the very least. I feel like the FFH press tour left them in a really weird situation cuz it was obvious that they still loved each other. 😔

I also kind of wonder if on some level they were at some point just trying to see who could "win" the breakup lol 👀 I think Tom and Olivia were def caught off guard, but I wonder if Z took that as a cue to do tit-for-tat in a "two can play that game" scenario. I've never actually seen that movie before lol 😅 but an Anon told me about it, and they said it kinda reminded them of TZ lol.
