I feel like there's a good amount of the Danny Phantom fandom that would prefer the Space Ghost franchise if they knew what it was and the Space Ghost fandom wasn't a few dozen, not even 100 people, including the few people who worked on Space Ghost Coast To Coast that are still active online (Start with C2C and ignore all comics until you finish it and at least the original series and Cartoon Planet)
Maybe. Probably not. Space Ghost and Danny Phantom are two very different cartoon shows with a massive 40-year gapā€”four decades' worth of innovation in animation, writing style, humor, character designā€”with very few similarities.
Speaking as someone who watched Space Ghost: Coast to Coast in the early 00s, I can tell you that people who enjoy DP are probably not going to enjoy SG, especially the original series, which was the product of 1960s Hanna Barbara animation (read: low-budget, corny-to-the-point-of-camp writing, mediocre voice acting). It would be extremely dated now. And scientifically inaccurate. I mean, this is a cartoon that predated man setting foot on the moon. How well is it going to hold up in 2024? Probably not well.
Furthermore, many DP fans are too young to remember the Coast to Coast era. They may enjoy the humor; I know I did. But one would already have to be a fan ofā€”or at least appreciateā€”old animation and its fuddy-duddyness to be both a DP fan and a SG fan. And I just don't think there's that much of an overlap. Maybe a few pixels.
Tumblr media
I know you've sent several people this same ask, and the fact that all the ones I've seen have been some form of "I have no idea what Space Ghost is" should be answer enough.

Genuinely curious as to if you asked permission to use Rachelā€™s characters and she said yes or if you just decided Lore Olympus is popular enough to make a fan comic of and are hoping you donā€™t receive a cease and desist? Can anyone create a remake comic of original content and just change what you donā€™t like about it and itā€™s considered legal if you say the characters belong to the original creator? There is plenty of disappointing media out there that could be remade. I understand you cannot use their characters for profit so is just posting it ok?
Yes, anyone can, because it's called fanfiction lmao Obviously in my case the term "fan" is being used loosely here as at this point it's more like "foe"fiction LMAO but the same principles apply. Unless I try to claim LO is my own creation or make a profit off Rekindled, I should be in the clear. If legal action was taken against me then it would set a precedent against all forms of fanfiction, rewrite, redraw, etc. content around LO which are all essentially doing the same thing Rekindled is doing. I think people tend to view Rekindled as somewhat of an "exception" that's vulnerable to legal action because it's an actual weekly comic put into practice in the same playing field as LO (though they're on massively different bases obviously LOL), but there's not much more separating it from the LO redraw accounts or even the genuine fan accounts that have learned how to draw in Rachel's style (and use it to make their own LO self-inserts and whatnot). I had the time and resources and experience to do what I do through Rekindled, but every redraw, rewrite, fanfiction, etc. account are making the exact same statement I am, whether intentionally or not - "I do/don't like the canon, but/so here's what I think it would be like if it went like this".
There is definitely plenty of media out there that could be remade, and a lot of them are by the fanfiction writers out there who are filling that niche within their respective fandoms. LO is the one I want to do because it's the one that interests me and compels me the most to rewrite.
Not to mention, it's already a bold statement in and of itself to say that I'm "using Rachel's characters", a statement that likely wouldn't hold up in court LMAO Her "characters" are literally just stylized self-insert versions of public domain figures. She did not write The Hymn to Demeter. She did not create Hades, or Persephone, or Hecate, or any of the other characters she writes about. She does not own an entire religion or its deities. The only thing that she really "owns" is the licensing rights to the name "Lore Olympus", and while the style of LO is very unique and identifiable, you can't trademark/copyright a style because that uproots the entire foundation of what art is (ironically no one has had an original idea SINCE the Greeks, we all just learn and adapt our styles based on other artists that we get inspired by and learn from).
Shit, there are series completely unrelated to LO that get harassed or otherwise warned that they could cross into "legal territory" with LO just because they're Greek myth comics. Punderworld, Theia Mania, H x P Ficlets, all of these are comics that also tackle the H x P myth, and while they aren't attempting to do the same thing as Rekindled (as they exist on their own terms) it's really disappointing when I see people talk about these comics purely through the scope of Lore Olympus as if LO invented Greek myth. If WT/Rachel tried to pull rank over the story's "characters", they'd be picking a fight with every other Greek myth comic, book, movie, etc. and they oughta know that's not a fight they're gonna win lol
So everything beyond LO's branding is, in and of itself, fanfiction. Rekindled is just another level deeper by being fanfiction of a fanfiction. As long as I'm not profiting off Lore Olympus' namesake or distributing my work with the misconception that I created LO, it's legally fine. Morally, I'm sure it doesn't exactly make me a saint to do it, it definitely took a lot of hubris for me to say "yeah I don't like how you wrote your story enough that I felt the need to rewrite it completely" and I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking doing so is icky. There are certain lines I won't cross - I don't use the general LO hashtags because my content is very critical and my work isn't really for the fans, I don't encourage anyone to "show Rachel" what I do here because none of what I do here is obligated to be seen by her (and I know it wouldn't be in her best interest to see it anyways, she's literally said that she doesn't like criticism so why tf would I wanna show her a comic that exists to criticize her work lol), and I'm not planning on posting it to Webtoons because that's Rachel's territory. I don't want to overstep both in the legal sense and in the moral one. I think it's more than enough for me to just post my stuff here for the people who are seeking it, and not profit off it or directly affiliate it with LO/Rachel beyond crediting.
All that said, in a moral and legal sense, what I'm doing is literally the basis of fanfiction, and I wouldn't be going to such lengths and spending this much time every week putting out episodes every week if I never cared about LO and how it made us all feel, even if some of us don't love it as much as we used to.

I'm a little confused. From what the Hero's Shade said as well as what the devs revealed in the Hyrule Historia I thought that the Shade really was OoT Link and that wasn't a fandom decided thing. Did I miss something that indicated otherwise? I mean him saying that TP Link was a disappointment to the tunic he wore was definitely odd but otherwise?
I always thought it was originally a fan concept -- I have no idea where I got that idea from tho so I could be wrong. I know that Hyrule Historia did indicate that the concept is canon but since it came out so many years after Twilight Princess I was never sure that was their original idea for the character. The other concept sketches for him in the book seem to imply this too (like, there's a samurai version, a female version, etc. which makes me doubt they were designed with oot link in mind).
I know there's also the fact he teaches you oot and mm songs, but. It wouldn't be the first time songs from past games are featured like that. Unsure whether that was a direct hint or whether that was nintendo being like "they wanted oot 2.0, we'll give them oot 2.0". Overall I think if nintendo actually wanted people to think he was the hero of time, they would've been more heavy-handed with it?? Like from a marketing standpoint that'd make more sense considering oot's popularity? < BIG DISCLAIMER THAT I MIGHT BE BEING STUPID. If anyone who follows me actually knows the answer, please!! let us know!!!!

So some gaylors and swifties are saying taylor is mirroring KK with brittany mahomes now, because she did that lover pose and that she is throwing shade to her. I don't know what to think anymore, I really don't understand what taylor is doing right now
also KK was mocked for being on the nosebleeds by some late night show and they are saying taylor and tree planted this
i'm sorry you feel shaken by this, anon!
i'm not phased by it, though. the anti-karlie contingent will grab at any wisp of an opportunity to dig at her.
i've been around here observing things for almost 4 years now and i am convinced that there is no bad blood between them (quite the contrary). the thousands and thousands of instances of them referencing each other in a loving way has me confident, and the haters can't shake that.
i haven't seen the colbert clip so i don't know the context, but it sounds really weird that he would talk about something that happened 7 months ago ? and the only response i have to that atm is that it proves kaylor is still a hot topic people are talking about !

Why when Matty was with Taylor you didn't like to talk about him but now that he's not with Taylor you spend all your time talking about him lol
first of all, i talked about him/the rebound regularly, my archive is right there (look circa may 2023, or see my #hot taykes tag šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø)
but the silliest thing about these asks is i spend A LOT of time and effort making my own posts about lyric analysis, finding parallels, talking about random stuff, sharing some of my life. and some beloved anons and mutuals share their ideas too, which i love. but many anons want to talk about the muses and so we talk about muses and then i get asks like this. have you sent me anything else to spark discussion? because i'd welcome it. and yet!

do you use gouache when you paint? i'm not very familiar with painting or paints but i want to learn and i really like the colours and general feeling of all your paintings and i think that i might like to learn to use that material as well
I have used gouache in paintings, but not the ones Iā€™ve posted this summer. The lake creature and the canvas w a hole was painted w acrylic, the rest in aquarelle/watercolor! Out of the two of them acrylic is the most forgiving for me lol, since it dries fast and you can paint over any mistakes. Watercolor is either really relaxing or hell on earth, as it dries slowly and you can never paint lighter colors on darker colors, so you need to know which spots that you want brighter and use as little paint as possible in those spots, and the colors spread out when the paper is wet, which can create really cool effects!

A quick question, do you take any commissions by any chance?
If so, how much?
And sorry for earlier!šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜
I've never actually done a commission before actually! I'm a hobbyist through and through
It's mainly just because I'm so busy with school and whatnot, but if you've got something specific in mind you can shoot me a DM and I'll let you know if I could possibly give it a go

OHHHH tell me about the gen 9-1-1 fic ideas!!! (i'd love to read them!!)
Hi Anon! thanks for asking!
My first idea/WIP is a May and Buck sibling fic. Both of them acknowledge that they see Bobby as a father figure and May herself called Buck Bobby's son. But I don't think we've actually seen the two of them interact before... so I want to explore what that dynamic could be like. Originally it was going to be a 5+1 fic, but I've decided to pare it down to the first scene and make it a character study.
My second idea, but not a wip yet, is a fic where Chris, Denny, and Harry try and solve a mystery and, in true 9-1-1 fashion, it becomes something much bigger than any of them could imagine. I'm still trying to figure out what the mystery could be so if anyone has any suggestions lmk
I know I had another idea but it's totally escaping me rn! but yeah :) let me know what y'all think

These people show their true values when they ignore the voices of POC to scream accusations of racism. Something tells me these same people would not like it if the Southron looking Starks were drawn as POC, because they ignore canon to make the "plain" Starks (Jon, Arya, and Ned) brown, but they never ignore canon when they depict the Tullies do they.
A post saying it made more sense for the Southern-looking Starks to be darker got called racist so yeah, they absolutely hate that idea. Mind you, there would be literally no issues if people decided to draw all of the Stark children + Ned darker but that's literally never the case. It's only ever Ned, Jon, and Arya being drawn as POC and everyone else being drawn white. We're just supposed to ignore the "coincidence" of fandom drawing Jon and Arya darker while constantly talking about them as dumber, plainer, and wilder than their siblings šŸ˜. Obviously, not every single person who does this thinks like that but it's still problematic either way. There's nothing in the books to support Arya and Jon being any darker than their siblings, it's the exact opposite, yet they're always the ones being singled out. I would just like all of the "it's racist to call this out" people to explain to me why it's okay that it's only ever them being drawn darker. And since we're on the subject we can also talk about the optics of portraying the Starks, who are colonizers, as POC when the COTF are right there and actually indigenous-coded.

opinions on valve rarepairs:
chellyx, valhoun, shepvance, shephoun, and uhmm gordon x chell, and uh any others ig
Not sure what prompted this, but here you go, I guess! Obligatory disclaimer that all these ships are great, even if they're not for me.
Chellyx: 5/10
I understand the appeal conceptually (there's something inherently neat about two similarly smart, hot, brave women getting together to save the world and make out), but as someone who doesn't typically enjoy crossover fanworks, it just doesn't do much for me. It would take a lot of exposition to get me invested in a fic featuring this ship, and I'm hesitant to engage with fanart from people I don't know because of The Discourse. (Specifically, that trend from a few years ago where the most annoying people in the fandom would post chellyx once in a blue moon just to say "See, I don't hate Alyx! I just hate those nasty freaks who ship her with men!!!!")
... Hm, maybe I'd be more interested in this ship if I saw more people, like, earnestly shipping it?
Valhoun: 8/10
The dynamic between Alyx and Barney appeals to me because they have the shared experience of having lived through the Combine occupation, but their roles within that society are very, very different. Alyx has virtually no concept of the Before Times and is an important figure in the Resistance, but in a kind of sheltered way, whereas Barney does remember life before the Combine and is also an important member of the Resistance, but god at what cost? It's fun to imagine how they'd try to navigate a sexual and/or romantic relationship in those circumstances and I'm tired of pretending it's not. They also have twice the snark potential compared to the mainstream ships, so bonus points for that.
(Shameless self-promotion: May I interest anyone in some porn with feelings? Or some semi-consensual voyeurism that may eventually get a sequel?)
Shephoun: 0/10
I do not care about Adrian Shephard. Sorry. His character just does nothing for me, and I don't see the version of Barney that lives in my head going for this guy. IMO, putting a military corporal and a security guard together in the early 2000s would generate the absolute worst political opinions you've ever heard... and not much else.
Shepvance: 2/10
I still don't care about Adrian Shephard, but I can kind of see the potential here. Two confused, scared young people bond with each other in stasis? The right person could probably sell me on this.
Gordon x Chell: 4/10
See chellyx, above. Still not a fan of crossovers, and this pairing has 50% less women compared to chellyx. Also, most of Gordon's appeal as a character (to me) comes from his interactions with other, more fleshed out characters, so a ship between two underdeveloped silent protags just doesn't work for my brain.
You didn't ask but I'm adding Lauren x Barney: 7/10
Lauren is barely a character, but I'm a sucker for pre-rescas content and making Barney sad. :)

Is it so bad that I don't really like ships of characters I simp and I only like the reader insert fics with them?
Yeah I can't deny I'm jealous of the canon x canon ships with my faves, knowing that they possibly can be together while I can't. I know it's dumb,so that's why I never hate on someone who likes those ships I just ignore it
Like Sefikura for example, I don't like it cuz I'm a massive hoe for Sephiroth, also bcuz sometimes they make the ship pretty icky, also bcuz Cloud is baby and I'm still angy at Sephy for mentally torturing my Babyboy like that
IT'S CHAOS WITH MY FICTIONAL FAVES!!!!!!
Nothing wrong with that, personally! I get wanting to indulge in the warmth of a good fantasy-- That is what alot of fiction is for, after all.
Bless you, anon. Alas, as someone also plagued with my own Dumb and Horrid Fictional Feelings, the brain can be such a little bitch when it comes to that stuff. Good on you for recognising how and why you feel that way, ignoring the stuff you don't like and focusing on what you do.
LMAO I get that completely. I should mention, though, that I am one of those people who indulges in the nastier side of the ship, lmaooo. Even so, I get why it wouldn't click with you.
(FR when is it not?)
