Could be sketchy, could be the best steak you've ever had…
In Dallas, there was this big parking lot that wrapped around the building, along one of the major thoroughfares, off an alley. And the back of this buildings didn't have windows until you got above the third floor or so. Anyway there was a window cut in the back of this building at ground level. It was a pull up window for a chicken joint. Best damn chicken ever. It's not there anymore, I think.
Out along Highway 80 in East Texas, there was a house in the middle of nowhere with a sign out front for Aunt Kate's Barbecue. You pulled up in front of her house and went up on the front porch to order and pick up your food. Best damned barbecue ever.
You just never know. I was a kid when I visited both of those places, so my memory may be shaded by the rose colored glasses of youth, but the adults that I was with seemed to enjoy the food as much as I did because we did visit those places multiple times.

This was a big challenge for me, I think the concept is cool and the design would be so cool if they lined up more closely. Oh well! Proud of my effort :)

haven't thoroughly analyzed my feelings on the matter but right now my gut feeling is that open sourcing artificial intelligence is a bad idea. but i'm open to the possibility that i'm wrong.
#i just wish we wouldn't rush into this#proceeding with caution isn't a bad thing#but on the other hand#no risk no reward#i am conflicted#it sounded good the first moment i considered it#but then i got this sinking feeling in my gut#and now i'm not sure#i gotta think about things#consider all the angles

I'm sure it's only a coincidence that a few days after Putin says Biden "needs to be undermined from the left" to help Trump win, noted Russian agent Jill Stein, who the Kremlin already extensively promoted in 2016 in the successful effort to hurt HRC, and who already endorsed fellow pro-Russian tankie Cornel West, jumps back into the 2024 race as the "Green Party candidate" talking about how "the two-party system has failed us."
For the love of fuck, let's not do this again.
#hilary for ts#politics for ts#kinda hoped she was dead ngl#can we upfront demystify the notion that she is anything except a russian agent trying to help trump win again#because yeah#putin understands exactly how to manipulate the american left and does so extensively#and they take the bait every time#which is why it is such a low-risk high-reward strategy for him#but as we know#fascism and genocide Good as long as an Anti Western person does it!!!!1

Social transition being seen (by some) as this super easy thing that isn't as hard as real transitioning (medical) is bullshit. Be critical of the idea that there are some trans people who just "have it easy" because they are trans or because they are trans in ways you may not be.
Social transition is just as difficult, hard, and rewarding as medical transition. Maybe it is not as hard for some, sure, but that is not the same as thinking that social transition is inherently easier or lesser. If you're socially transitioning, your voice still matters.
#trans#transgender#lgbt#lgbtq#ftm#mtf#nonbinary#not to mention that so many people DO want to medically transition but *can't*#so it can be even harder for some when they feel social transition is their only option when they don't want it to be#but social transition carries its own risks and challenges and again rewards#and i've seen this idea plenty where it's like 'oh you don't GET my struggles because you're SOCIALLY transitioning'#and while yes i am different than some trans people to say i'm struggling *more* if i'm the only one medically transitioning is??? huh????#i don't buy into this idea that social transition is never scary because you don't have the boot of the medical system on your back#(though non-med or pre-med transitioning people still face issues in medical settings so even THEN we aren't seperate)#like there's very few ways you can separate my issues as a medically-transitioning person and the issues of somebody who isn't...#...and by that i mean there's few ways you can separate our issues so that mine trumps theirs or that i'm seen as like... trans but More#does that make sense?#medical transitioning is important but that doesn't mean it is *more* important or that only *it* is important#you can support us who are medically transitioning without erasing the experiences and struggles of other trans people#and plus... so many of us who are medically transitioning NOW are the people who socially transitioned THEN#and dare i say i despised social transition more because of how hard it was? medical transition has been (more or less) easier...#...in that i can just *be* now

on the one hand the world is burning and everything is terrible, on the other hand the canadian olympic soccer team got caught spying on the new zealand squad with drones and it has provided me with endless spectacular joy and entertainment for the last eighteen hours
#like im sorry canada but this is the most hilariously stupid thing you could have possibly done#i will be laughing about this for the next seven months at LEAST#also like why would you take this risk over nz when you have to contend with colombia and france in your group too#no offense to nz y'all are great but statistically the risk VASTLY outweighs the reward here#asdl;kgha;sldfkasjf#olympics 2024#canwnt#nzwnt#soccer

Matt really said, "Yeah, let's throw the wizard with ninth level force damage spells and a history of crippling guilt into the deeply insecure pvp party to go wandering into a forced pvp zone that preys off of your insecurities, I'm sure this will go well," and he was correct for it 😌
#teven being here is a different story that was all the hells' doing#matt did not make that decision lmfao#the hells were also not aware of the full nature of the forced pvp zone so#cr spoilers#essek thelyss#also to be clear this does NOT decrease the appeal of the force damage spells okay high risk high reward babey

The more time I sink into andromeda, the more I suspect the biggest reason it ultimately failed commercially was because of the massive tonal shift I've already mentioned, and how there was probably a pretty big chunk of original trilogy players who simply no longer fit as a demographic, while the game failed to reach the people who might’ve enjoyed it.
The original trilogy, much as I love it, feels a little bit like a wishfulfillment power fantasy for a very obvious demographic. Almost all women are overtly sexy in design and the f/f relationship in the first game seems to be written along the guidelines of 'what would a straight man find hot'; you play as someone cool and confident and powerful, the most specialest human ever, and maybe you aren’t always respected but YOU and the NARRATIVE always know you're right and you get to be rude to and sometimes punch/murder people who disagree with you so it’s fine. The game then salvages all this by means of genuinely well-written characters and arcs, really cool sci-fi tech and lore, a fantastic story, and meaningful and hard-hitting choices and consequences (which also allow and often encourage you to steer away from that exact macho ideal).
Enter andromeda. Instead of being a super powerful supersoldier from the start, you're the kid of one. You barely know what you're doing. Everyone doubts you, including yourself. You don’t get the assuredness of knowing you are Right and Cool that you have as Shepard. You don’t demand that same respect. And I'm sure there are a lot of people who hated that.
#mass effect#mass effect andromeda#to be clear: i don't think this is an actual flaw of the game but i do think it played a part in why it wasn't a hit like ME 1-3#andromeda has plenty of flaws#some similar to the original trilogy and some all of it's own#the biggest being that it fails to take the same big swings and risks as the trilogy#and therefore feels a lot less hard hitting and rewarding#had it succeeded in that emotional core the way the trilogy did i actually think that original demographic would've enjoyed it too#in a similar way to how i adore the trilogy despite not being the intended target audience. it has enough substance to carry past its flaws#nella talks
