Made a few chicken themed pot holders for my mom for Christmas. Can’t wait to give them to her. I will post each one separately for a closer look! 🐓

Somehow I lost most of my previous potholders during the move (not a big loss, they were store-bought hand me downs from my family) and I needed new ones.

Found some old scraps of cotton yarn from my mom in red, yellow, orange + magenta and combined it with some dark purple I somehow had three skeins of. Crocheted both during two work days full of meetings. The most tedious work were the yarn changes, everything else was wonderfully repetitive and easy to make.

It's funny how I only made potholders after years of crocheting and most people recommend this as the first project.

Fashion and sewing week 4 part 1

Nope! Is it for anything special? Nope! Just wanted to make pot holders and since she does a lot of cooking, I’m going to give them to her after I have completed this sewing project. I made some things over the last few days:

I hadn't realised that you can, of course, make your own sanitary pads from old cotton fabrics and an old towel. I tried these different shapes, and I'll see if I like the H shape better than the one with the snaps that I'm using atm. And then I'm gonna make myself a new batch, because the ones I'm using rn are pretty worn through.

The pot holders on the right are also made from scrap fabrics (a surplus market bag, some old jogging pants, an old shirt), and you can also use them as oven mittens as well. They are very colourful atm; I'm debating on dyeing them red at some point to fit my kitchen decor. Or maybe blue or petrol because I love the colours.

I asked my grandfather to make me a loom twice the size of the one I've had since I was a kid 🥹 he did such a good job and I can't wait to play with it! This was my first attempt, I'll have to explore other materials since the knots are not ideal, but what a privilege it is to have a loom made with love!
