The Catholics were really funny to invent saints. Call center employees of heaven. Sometimes the saints invented themselves and the church had to scramble to come up with a cover story. There's one saint that got too many promotions and the church is really cranky about it.

i don't understand the baity "if this gets X notes im gonna Y....hope no one reblogs this!!! tee hee" both because i find it annoying generally but also because a tumblr post surpassing like 32 notes is the worst thing that could possibly happen to someone. you want your blog to breach containment???

I am curious! How do you pick which posts you add image descriptions to? Is it just blogs you follow? Do you search for posts with images? Do you add image descriptions to every post with a photo that doesn't already have one?
Mostly it's just stuff on my dash. Occasionally, I go through submission blogs that get mostly pictures and draft a bunch of posts to describe later. There are people I follow mainly to get posts to describe (I do not endorse anyone I reblog from).
Nowadays, I tend to only describe posts with ~1,000+ notes because many people I follow don't want their posts to "breach containment" and me reblogging them to here would give them attention they don't want.
Beyond that, I don't describe a whole lot of art because I don't consider that a strength of mine, though I have done it before. You'll probably notice I mostly transcribe text.

context: post that went around recently about framing things in ways that appeal to conservatives.
everyone seems to have fixated on it being about the words used, and I think this is not the most effective understanding. I'm sure there are some people out there who figuratively "black out and hit reblog" upon seeing some words, but generally I think there's more to it than that.
the post included someone talking about "jiu-jitsu persuasion" which seems to be referencing this paper: Attitude Roots and Jiu Jitsu Persuasion: Understanding and Overcoming the Motivated Rejection of Science.
(the paper seems fairly meh and I don't believe it constitutes a generally accepted theory of communication as the person suggested but regardless)
I want to note that this is not inherently trickery. if I were someone who didn't believe in or care about climate change, but I did care about jobs and the economy, and someone convinced me to support some green policy on the basis of it promoting job creation and economic growth, that would not be me getting heckin bamboozled by seeing the word 'economy' — it would in fact be perfectly rational.
appealing to people in terms of what they care about, especially if you're not likely to have success in changing what they care about or their factual beliefs, simply makes sense. and is actually productive for everyone involved!
I think one case where it becomes troublesome, is when the basis of your rejection of certain beliefs consists largely of a motivated knee-jerk rejection of anything coming from the other side, and you have not established much else to justify it.
thus, when some argument contains the wrong shibboleths you simply shut it out, but I don't actually think in most cases that if it contains the right ones you will automatically accept it. however you will be receptive in a way you weren't otherwise.
at that point, if you still have a solid foundation for your beliefs, you may be willing to listen and understand and still ultimately reject it. but if you never had a particularly good reason against other than going with the flow or embracing an ideology without interrogating the particulars or etc, you may end up convinced. because the barriers you had were breached.
and they were probably terrible barriers! but they were not where the problem occurred.
frequently it is the case that you actually already held most of the requisite values and assumptions to land on some conclusion. you just had to walk the rest of the way that your barriers had restricted.

i try not to be openly mad super often about tumblr users being obnoxious because it really is a small minority of people & i know that a lot of you guys who are Literally Perfectly Fine but also Very Anxious will be like "oh no. am i one of the people who does this."
so let me give u an example of a wildly obnoxious tumblr interaction i had a few months ago. that sticks with me.
at one point i locked the rbs on a house MD post that had gotten a few thousand notes. no one had done anything wrong or bad, but the post was starting to breach containment into discourse that i find pretty upsetting/draining, so i preemptively shut it down. for the sake of my own sanity.
a few weeks after i did this, some tumblr user who does not follow me commented
"OP TURN ON THE REBLOGS"
hm.
hmmm.
to which i responded, "no 💕"
and they said, "why not?? :("
frowny face included btw. apparently it was incomprehensible to them that i might not comply with an all-caps command from a total stranger.
i replied "because i don't want to 💕" and left it at that. as is my right.
this apparently vexed the tumblr user. who left three long and increasingly nasty messages about how i have a shitty attitude and i'm a shit person who's shit at interacting with people who's "so unserious." i do not remember the exact wording of anything except "you're so fucking unserious" because i was like. Hello.
at this point i simply blocked the tumblr user and deleted their comments and my responses to them. i do this frequently on my popular posts. when i get comments that annoy me or people start debating in the notes, i just delete Aaall that shit. and block everyone involved. not in my house!!
if you are a person who can understand where this interaction went wrong, and who cannot conceive of approaching an internet stranger in this manner, then you are Probably not one of the people who drives us fucking crazy. (and chances are that if you HAVE annoyed someone, it was over something pretty minor and low-stakes.)
the wildest thing is that if this person had just said "hey, could you turn on rbs for a few minutes?? i want this on my blog," I WOULD'VE SAID YES....? WHY WOULDN'T I. YOU KNOW.
sometimes. the internet. is.
.....taxing.

Omg the reblog person is so real for that. I understand that Tumblr doesn't have an algorithm so liking doesn't functionally do anything but I get extremely anxious about reblogging so the guilt trips are really awful for me (and I assume it's the same for others with similar issues.)
Uh- bit of a tangent/rant below. For context I'm an "Audhd-er" (I think that's the term people use, it means I'm autistic and I have ADHD)
I understand most of the time they are over-exaggerating their feelings on the matter. In posts about reblogging stuff from writers and artists it's always kind of a "LIKES DO NOTHING SHOW YOUR LOVE WITH REBLOGS LIKES MEAN NOTHING"
I've always found that a bit odd. As someone with two mutuals (one of whom is rarely online) and 1 normal follower my reblogs really aren't gonna do much so I mostly reblog stuff my mutuals might like and occasionally make my own posts. (Keeping everything else private for the most part) When I get a like it always brings a warm fuzzy feeling because it means someone enjoyed my reblog or post enough to share with me that they liked it.
I've only had one post that breached containment and it was a fun weekend of checking out the blogs of people who liked it! All in all I think maybe people are just unaware of the anxieties that come with being online and the people who experience those anxieties are too anxious to really speak up about it. I mean look at me I'm chilling behind an anon mask rn (I rarely send an off anon ask lol.)
For a website dubbed by its users as the neurodivergent website, some people forget to consider that learning and working within the culture of a social media platform can be extremely stressful for many types of people, let alone an autistic person such as myself (the ADHD doesn't help either). Some of us would prefer to lurk in our private blogs, only coming out of our comfort zone when we feel ok to do so.
All in all, a reminder to reblog is perfectly fine, but please refrain from the guilt-tripping and social obligation type of thing— or at least be aware of it and try not to be offended if one of your mutuals struggles to reblog.
Now this is all my personal perspective, other people will likely have completely different experiences but I wanted to share in case people were confused on why it's an issue for some people. Thanks for reading this whole thing and I hope you have a lovely day <3
I think I get what you're saying -
For a lot of people it genuinely takes a surprising amount of guts to put themselves out there on the internet in any way, even if it's anonymously, and that includes things as simple as reblogging a post.
It's not just Tumblr either. You also see it on Reddit and Twitter, and in online games where people just want to keep to themselves and not interact with strangers. Some people just want to lurk, maybe liking or upvoting, but not commenting or reblogging, because that feels like making yourself more "visible" somehow, in a way simply liking posts doesn't.
It's difficult to put into words, but I feel it's kind of like being in a university lecture with 50+ strangers. Liking is sitting in the back quietly taking notes. Reblogging is like putting your hand up and giving an opinion when the professor asks for one.
It's true that only reblogging actually contributes anything functionally, but there are plenty of people, especially neurodivergent people, who might struggle with that kind of thing, but still want to show some appreciation, or just save it as a bookmark.
So, I think that's partly why that kind of guilt-tripping or threatening reblog bait can be so stressful. Tumblr is a comfort app for a lot of people, who just want to curate their own little private space. Reblog baits are like someone banging on your door, telling you that you're actively doing something wrong by keeping to yourself, and (in the case of "I'll block/unfollow you if you like/read but don't reblog" baits) people will hate you for doing it.
It also implicitly takes away the sense of control you have over your own personal online space. Ideally, you should be able to do whatever you want with your own blog - no one should dictate your own online experience. So, if you just want to reblog things you like or want to share, at whatever pace you feel comfortable with, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that.
But reblog baits seem to suggest that you shouldn't have that control, and there are certain things that you have no choice but to put on your blog, and it has to be right now. And I feel that sense of having control suddenly snatched away from you without warning could also be a major source of anxiety for a lot of people who see Tumblr as a source of comfort.
With all that in mind, while I do believe that it's not quite this simple, considering artists and writers, and especially those who rely on commissions, do need exposure from reblogs, I also feel it's difficult to blame people for finding very aggressive reblog baits stressful, especially when you're suddenly blindsided with them.
At least, those are just my initial thoughts based on what you said, but absolutely let me know if you disagree with any of this or feel I misrepresented what you meant <3

Ten bucks says they won't even see your reply because they were just that removed from this blog. They were a drive-by asshole and nothing more lol. x)
No, but I actually wanted to point out, since people using the anonymous feature on this blog was kinda scrutinized recently...One of the benefits to using anon to contribute and share opinions (like I'm doing now!) on this blog is that you're way more immune to harassment, and randos picking fights with you, if your ask, reblog, etc breaches containment. The attacks don't feel as personal. And if you're on anon, you don't have a target on your back and the takes you make won't follow you around.
Actually, that's another benefit: you won't be continually defined by takes you made but no longer agree with, or by takes that may be cool and honorable, but petty losers try to warp for drama! Fandom's pretty rife with chronically grass-deprived people who try to fabricate excitement in their lives by stirring up drama where there is none...And as someone who's been targeted once before (and go figure, it was in the last year due to all the new purity culture crap, after like 15 years of pure bliss), it's just way easier to be on anon.
Posting as a response to a previous ask.

Intro post I will prolly edit later, lol
Figured I needed to make a pinned post at some point for people checking out my page.
Here's my ko-fi - And yes, I do commissions. The prices are based on the time and effort it takes me. If you want something cheap and fast, I offer '$2 per minute' sketches. I can do more with that time than you might think. (Granted, I also worry way less about pesky things like anatomy and outfit details.)
Here's my Ao3 - My stuff is dark and unpleasant, because my life has been dark and unpleasant, and thus what I write is not meant for either children or people who think censoring dark and unpleasant things helps anyone. :) My stuff is also Pretty Dang Queer.
Here's my original art tag - I tend to stick to just a few hyperfixations, and rotate between them, sometimes with overlap. Current hyperfixation is Breach, and a bit of Heavenshine. On hold is The Spirit Marauder, Starlight Killer, and Bleached Canvas, among other stories that I may or may not have posted about. Sometimes I forget to tag character and story names and such, though, because I am bad at tagging.
Here's my fanart tag - Again, I tend to stick to just a few hyperfixations, and rotate between them, sometimes with overlap. Current hyperfixation is Gravity Falls (specifically Billford). I may sometimes still draw for Cult of the Lamb, Among Us, Pokemon, Zelda, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, and Tokyo Mew Mew, among other things, but most of my older stuff doesn't have the fanart tag (because again - I am bad at tagging). I no longer draw for Homestuck, though I may still reblog posts about it that I find funny, and while I don't think I ever posted art for it here, anyway, my InuYasha hyperfixation died the moment my comfort character was turned into a pedophile. It is liable to never recover. u_u
Here's my art reblog tag - I very rarely reblog other folks' art. Not because I don't like it, but because if I reblogged every bit of art that I liked, I would probably overwhelm all my followers' dashboards. 8|; If you want to see all the stuff I like, anyway, my likes are public.
Here's my everything else tag - I'll usually stick this onto my ramblings, or on reblogs of stuff that isn't other folks' art.
Quick n' dirty deets about me: Filthy socialist (meaning ACAB, fuck MAGA, terfs can GTFO, from the river to the sea, and so on). Also, gendervoid aro-ace aegosexual with rampant AuDHD.
FAQ:
NO, I do not do drawing or writing requests. I do not have the time or energy. I may do random gifts for other artists or writers if I get the inspiration for it, but that's at my own discretion.
NO, I will not mark any of my posts as mature. I do not post smut art, I make clear what my writings contain in both the writings and posts themselves, and the internet is not a safe space for children. If you're a minor, best to steer clear of my page, and if you choose not to - because goodness knows I would have done the same at that age - then heed the provided warnings and proceed with caution. I am no one's parent or babysitter, and no one on the internet should expect me to be.
NO, I will not turn on anonymous messages. The moment my InuYasha comfort character was turned into a pedophile and I spoke out about it, I was harassed en masse by the grossest part of the fandom. If you want to be an asshole at me, you can do it with the full knowledge that I'll be outing you for your assholery the second you do. :)
YES, you can message me, provided you've been following me for more than a week. I don't always know what to say, though, so if I don't reply, that's on me and not you. (It tends to take me a while to reply to things, anyway. I am consistently tired and overwhelmed, plus a massive introvert.)
YES, you can draw or write stuff based off of what I've drawn or written! Of course you can!! Please do!!! Just share it with me first!!!!! OuO
YES, you can spam me with likes and reblogs, I do not mind at all. I don't even care how old the post is, so go nuts, my dude - like and reblog to your heart's content.
Krys is pronounced the same as "Chris", not "cries". If we start chatting and get to the point where we start talking over mics and you call me "Cries", I can promise that I while I WILL roll with it, I will also NEVER let you live it down, so if it's easier for you, just call me Terri. It's pronounced like normal, but short for Terrible.
I know it says 'she/them' in my bio, but gender is a nebulous void for me, so I don't actually care what pronouns you use for me.
As of June 17, 2024, I am 36. And yes, I feel fucking old.
Don't bother me with pro/anti-shipping garbage. I do not care about shipping wars. I cannot possibly care about shipping wars, not when half of my own ships are toxic garbage. What I do care about is whether or not a toxic garbage ship is framed correctly, especially when it's aimed at a young and impressionable audience. (LOOKING HARD AT YOU, YASHAHIME.)
If you know me from DA, NO YOU DO NOT. I just went through all my old posts on there, and good GRAVY was I fucking annoying. I should show all that shit to my mom and be like, 'Are you SURE I didn't have ADHD growing up??? Cuz it sure READS like I had ADHD growing up!!!'
I don't know what else to add here at the moment, so I'ma go back to recovering from weeks worth of working on comic stuff now. <:]

Hey how many of y'all would be interested in like... A blog of mine that I started recently (without mentioning it here) that has some more personal, more "out there" UPG content. I could link it here, I'm just nervous that it'd get associated with me as a tarot reader and... Tarot is one thing, this is another, y'know? They're very different levels of "strange."
I'm gonna take any interaction with this as a "yes" bc I don't want to make anyone comment or anything and I hate reblog bait with a seething passion- plus, I'd rather this post not breach containment and get reblogged a bunch lol. I just want to gauge how well it were to go over if I were to like... Link the blog or reblog a post from it to let you all know that's also me.
It's not appropriative or fucked up or inappropriate okay guys plz don't freak out. I'm just quiet about it because it doesn't apply to most people and is ALL UPG. That's why I'm posting this.

this is also why i should know better than to have these biweekly multi-post rants where i get annoyed and start throwing out thoughts that aren't necessarily fully formed or just don't fully make sense outside the context of that particular string of posts. sometimes one or two parts will breach containment and people will start nitpicking my phrasing and making assumptions about what i think abt related issues when the whole time it was just part of one of my little 1am rants that was supposed to get 3 notes from my californian mutuals and then stay there (hence the imperfect phrasing and failure to account for every possible counterargument in one post). like yeah ok i should turn off reblogs if i don't want to read people's dumb comments but also like cmon man if you hate what i have to say that much just block me

Disclaimer: I'm approaching this from a detached perspective and have no desire to "game" the system. I post random thoughts from my head with no consideration and if we're mutuals it's because I enjoy your posts, my posts going viral is fine but not why I use this website. I have no grand schemes of clout chasing, pretending to be human when interacting with others is hard enough as it is.
I feel like if you were actually trying to promote yourself on Tumblr, blazing is not a terribly effective way of doing it? The main requirement for a post to go viral on tumblr seems to be that one or more people with a five-or-six-digit number of active followers reblogs it. Hypothetically, blazing a post might make it more likely that this happens, but at some point there's a hard limit in that it actually needs to be something that other people (and specifically, people with a large follower count) actually like, and people seem less likely to reblog a blazed post they like than one that their mutuals put on their dash. So trying to become mutuals with people who have large follower counts, or at least tailoring your content to what those sort of people like so that they reblog your posts if they end up on their dash, is going to be far more effective than Blaze.
And if you are someone with a large number of Tumblr followers, Blaze is of course useless to you as anything other than a prank - you're the person who can make a post go viral for free, by reblogging it! And blazing posts that have already breached containment largely seems to do.... nothing? If it's already been reblogged by someone with 10000 active followers, it's basically already received 10000 targeted impressions, rather than the 10000 random ones. Given that people tend to follow and reblog from the same people who like things they like, by blazing an already popular post you probably aren't even putting it on the dash of very many people who want to see it but weren't otherwise likely to.
Basically the only use case I see here is for brand-new artists who are trying to promote themselves on this website. These don't strike me as the sorts of people who have a lot of disposable income, though, so unless they're already successful and coming from another website, this will mostly manfiest from the ability yo blaze other people's posts, which I think is still an interesting option for people who want to help other artists get discovered. But in the grand scheme of things, it seems unlikely that this will be the thing that helps Tumblr break-even on maintenance cost.

Can someone more knowledgeable with DID answer please? We are having... a very interesting morning.
Can either a) a part purposefully cause another to split into many, as a defense against leaking information, or b) can a split naturally occur due to 'reaching a tipping point' and simply be contextualized as having been done on purpose by someone else inside?
Bonus question: in either case, could this cause a subsystem to itself be 'divided up' between the new splits? (Assumed; I myself am not sure if I'm the only ... new host!Wolf, or if there are other host!Wolves with their own subsystems)
...I suppose the answers are 'yes', given how each system is different from each other, so what I'm really looking for is a response to 'has ANYTHING remotely like this happened to anyone else?'
Further context below the cut but TLDR-- a potential mass splitting incident has occurred along with the system (potentially specifically the higher ups and not simply the subconscious brain???) shuffling people around drastically due to what is essentially a containment breach, and I want to know: has something similar happened to anyone else, and what did you do about it?
(Note: We call them higher ups because they live somewhere 'higher' on the inside, on a different layer. It is not referencing any specific kind of abuse or trauma, it is just a coincidence.)
Wolf Wolf put their nose where they shouldn't and now I (3.0/Canis) am here, alongside 2 other preexisting (or potential copies of) subsystem members (I guess I am the... copy of Wolf Wolf), a new subsystem member, one preexisting separate part (or a copy of them), and someone entirely new and separate (ie not in the subsystem).
Beyond that, I am convinced we are not the only result of Wolf Wolf being, for lack of better words, 'torn apart'. I don't have any evidence for this though.
We cannot hear or feel or see the old lobby. We are in the void. The brain and what happened says the higher ups split Wolf Wolf up, and potentially scattered the entire known lobby across a much larger inner world (and potentially even across other layers) as well, as punishment for Wolf Wolf putting something new together when they explicitly said they would not do the putting things together thing.
(It wasn't consciously done-- they just kind of... slotted stuff into their understanding. And the higher ups didn't like that at all. Not that this response to their figuring stuff out has been effective, in my opinion. I still know what we learned. Or what we think we learned. It's still remembered.)
Anyway I'm unsure if this all is possible however-- very much confused on if we are real and permanent right now.
Please, if you have insight, reply reblog or send a ask. Thank you for reading.

Statement of Intent.
Tumblr media
Preemptive QnA:
Q: Do you live in Kansas?
A: Regrettably.
Q: Have you even actually watched K-ON?
A: No.
Q: Can I @ you?
Q: What is your main blog?
A: Yes!
Q: Are you an adult? What are your pronouns?
A: 26. She/Her/Boss.
A: I think it's funnier to keep it a secret. That being said, it's probably not that hard to find my main. I've reblogged from it more than once.
I've alluded to the idea of this blog having criteria for what posts i will and will not reblog, so here those are.
No Kansas City Chiefs posts. They are, as of writing, based in Missouri and therefore not Kansas. Even if they weren't a Missouri based team I still would have a blanket ban on them as the blog would be overrun with them. This is a blog about the state itself, after all.
As a continuation of the previous point, posts that are only about Kansas City but don't mention if it's referring to KCMO or KCKS are also banned. Kansas City is so different from the rest of the state that it'd be misleading too allow it without context, anyway.
No posts about the band, Kansas. Yes i know they come from Topeka but that doesn't change the fact they otherwise have nothing to do with it.
Wizard of Oz is not banned but the phrase "We're not in Kansas anymore" is. If that is the only mention of Kansas in the post than the post does not meet the criteria.
Posts that only mention a specific city or town, but not the state, are valid. I'm scraping for content as is I can't limit myself to just the exact word itself.
Posts that are just pictures of Kansas weather or the sunrise or sunset or whatever are banned since like, the post is specifically about Kansas which makes the joke not really as funny.
Extremely personal posts that only tangentially mention the state are banned. Yes, this technically fits the requirements, but I am not barging onto someone's post about their experience growing up a lesbian in a fundamentalist household or coming out to their parents. Even if its technically in a public space, i am not derailing their self-expression to make content for a silly gimmick blog.

#Kansas Mention - What you're here for.
#Not Kansas - I accidentally reblogged the post to the wrong blog or i deemed it important enough to break character. Rare either way.
#Special Edition Version - A special edit of the usual K-ON girl I use, these are typically one offs.
#will delete upon request - This is for posts that fall into a grey area with rule 7. Posts that are still from some random persons' personal blog but aren't talking about anything serious or strictly personal to them. It's a courtesy in case they don't want it "breaching containment."
