it had been exactly a week since the girls stayed at the moons' humble home, and things had taken a strange turn, really strange.
yn returned to the dorms a couple of days later, though this time, she didn’t have much of a choice. their comeback preparations were in full swing, and her absence wasn’t an option.
but ever since their visit to yn’s family home, something felt… off. it wasn’t anything anyone could point out directly, but the shift in the air was undeniable. with everyone back together, practicing and prepping for the comeback, the strange energy became even more apparent.
yet, no one mentioned it. it was as though everyone had silently agreed to ignore the unsettling vibe that lingered between them, as if pretending it didn’t exist might make it go away.
no one noticed.
except sakura.
the first thing sakura noticed was how frazzled chaewon seemed after leaving the moon house. she had gone back to grab her phone and returned looking visibly shaken. when sakura asked what was wrong, chaewon brushed it off with a shake of her head.
the next thing she noticed was yunjin. normally the one to eagerly join in on chaewon’s rants about yn, yunjin had suddenly become... quieter. she didn’t even want to hear it anymore, shutting down conversations with comments like, "let’s just focus on this," or, "it’s really not that serious." it was strange, yunjin had always been vocal when it came to their shared thoughts about yn.
well, all of them except for kazuha, sakura thought.
but now, it seemed like yunjin was distancing herself from anything related to yn, actively changing the subject whenever her name came up. sakura couldn’t fathom what could have caused the sudden shift. what happened at the moon house that had made yunjin so... different?
sakura didn’t know where she found the courage, but she finally asked yunjin what was going on with her. the younger girl’s response was short and cryptic, “we’re a group, we should act like it.”
whatever that means.
you see, sakura had worked incredibly hard to get to where she was now, and she continued to push herself every single day. that was her problem with yn.
yn was the embodiment of having it easy. the brand deals, the fans, the love, it all seemed to fall into her lap without much effort. sometimes, it looked like she didn’t even have to try. she just had it, effortlessly shining in a way that made it hard to look away.
sakura liked to call her teruhashi. whenever yn asked what she meant by that, sakura would just laugh it off, shaking her head like it was some inside joke yn wouldn’t understand.
so yeah, sakura felt like she had every right to feel the way she did about yn. everyone in the group had put in years of hard work to get here, sacrificing everything to make it. and then came her—this rich girl whose dad conveniently got shares in the company, who was plopped into the group last minute before debut, only to become the most popular member overnight.
it wasn’t fair.
the room was filled with heavy breaths, the squeak of sneakers against the floor, and the steady rhythm of the music.
"one, two, three, four, all the girls are—"
"sakura, straighten your arms. make sure your lines are clean," the choreographer called out, scanning the group. "actually, all of you— wait, yn, come here."
they gestured for yn to step forward before turning back to the others. "this. this is exactly how you should be doing it."
"can you demonstrate?" the choreographer asked, turning to yn.
all eyes were on her now.
she stood there, unfazed, wearing bedazzled sunglasses so dark it was a mystery if she could even see. paired with baggy pink sweatpants, a top that barely passed as a shirt, more like a bikini top and, of all things, a pair of low moon boots.
what the hell is she wearing? chaewon had muttered under her breath when they left the dorm that morning and how does someone where that and still look good yn did, gosh she was a mess, a mess who was still the best in the room.
she unpaused the music, and immediately, yn started moving.
yn was versatile. no matter what concept was thrown at them, she adapted effortlessly, slipping into each one like it was made for her. sakura wasn’t going to lie, she had to mentally prepare every time they switched concepts, had to push herself to embody something new.
so watching yn do it so easily… it always made her feel a certain way.
like now.
the choreographer clapped after yn finished the part she instructed her to do, “that’s exactly how I want you guys to do it, keep your eyes on yn for now on.”
sakura kept her eyes on yn the whole time, noticing how the girl didn’t seem all that pleased with the choreographer’s praise.
why was that? if it were her, she’d be basking in it.
“yn you can go back, let’s start from the top.”
the rest of practice was a disaster, not in terms of their dancing, but the energy in the room. it didn’t feel like teamwork. it felt like competition.
sakura didn’t just want to match yn’s movements. she wanted to surpass them, but she couldn’t and that was the problem.
sighs of relief filled the room as the girls took sips of water, exhaustion settling in while they packed up their things.
sakura slung her bag over her shoulder, ready to leave, when she noticed something, yn was the only one who hadn’t packed up yet.
she stood alone in the corner, quietly sipping water from the dispenser, as if in no rush to leave.
sakura wasn’t the only one who noticed.
she watched as kazuha’s gaze landed on yn, her brows furrowing as she said something to her. whatever it was, sakura couldn’t make it out over the chatter of the other girls.
her curiosity only grew when kazuha suddenly shook her head, turning away from yn and heading back toward the group.
"let’s go," she muttered, not looking back.
"wait, wait, what’s up with yn?" sakura asked as the rest of the girls filed out of the room.
kazuha let out an annoyed sigh. "she’s staying to practice more. said she’ll be home in an hour, but knowing her, that probably means tomorrow."
"hasn’t she done enough?" sakura scoffed. "she already embarrassed us today. does she even realize we’re supposed to be on the same level?"
if yn wanted to be that good, maybe she should’ve just been a soloist.
kazuha opened her mouth to respond, but she just let out a sigh and shook her head.
most nights, sakura was the first to head to bed or at least the first to retreat to her room.
but not tonight.
it was nearly 1 a.m., and instead of sleeping, she sat on the couch, mindlessly watching netflix, barely paying attention to the time.
she flinched at the sound of the front door creaking open, instinctively pulling her blanket tighter around herself.
she had just finished a horror movie and was already onto the next so this was definitely not an ideal situation.
sloppy foot steps was heard making her furrow her eyebrows until it hit her, yn.
yn came into view, the sunglasses she had worn earlier now gone, revealing tired, red rimmed eyes. an oversized sweater hung loosely over her frame, swallowing her up.
she stumbled slightly as she walked through the entryway, one hand reaching out to the wall for support.
"yn?" sakura called out, her voice laced with confusion.
yn looked up at her, her eyes barely open. when she saw sakura, they widened in surprise. "um..." she mumbled, unsure of how to respond.
“I thought you came back hours ago, were you still practicing?” sakura questioned, yn’s whole body language setting alarms in her head, “how did you even get back?”
“it was one of my family’s drivers. It doesn’t matter what time, it's their job." yn mumbled, her words barely audible as she completely avoided sakura’s eyes.
"that sounds pretty privileged," sakura scoffed, her tone sharp with disbelief.
"it was either that, or I would’ve passed out with no one around to help." yn snapped back, her words laced with frustration.
"huh?" sakura muttered, finally noticing the hospital bracelet wrapped around yn’s wrist. "yn... were you just at the hospital?"
"what does it look like?" the younger girl shot back, heading toward the kitchen without a second glance.
sakura followed her without hesitation. “what? how? why?”
yn opened the fridge and grabbed a cold water bottle. “you know, the usual, undereating, overworking.”
“the usual?” sakura echoed, disbelief creeping into her voice.
yn let out a heavy sigh, leaning against the counter. “why do you even care?”
"because one of my members was just in the hospital, didn’t contact any of us, and then just casually calls it the usual?"sakura shot back, her frustration clear, “why would I not care?”
"because it is the usual. not my fault you haven’t noticed," yn shot back, her voice tinged with irritation. "and why would you not care? because you haven’t before, sue me."
sakura let out a frustrated sigh. "yn... this is different. this is important. this is your health."
yn shook her head, taking another sip from her water bottle. "it really isn’t different. with all the stuff you say about me, all the things you probably think about me, why on earth would you care about this?"
“yn-”
"well, since you’ve gotten me started, I guess I should finish, right?" yn cut her off, taking another sip of water, her movements sluggish like someone trying to sober up. "you know, you were probably the one who hurt me the most." after chaewon of course but she wasn’t going to say that out loud.
sakura furrowed her brow, confusion flooding her expression as yn continued. "I mean, you’re the older, motherly one who takes care of everyone... but you never even batted an eye at me. so, sorry for being freaked out right now by you suddenly caring."
the words hit sakura like a punch to the gut. she felt a sharp pang in her chest, she didn’t know how to respond.
"and when I found out you and chaewon were former idols, I thought, great, I have someone older who can guide me through this crazy industry," yn rambled, her voice thick with frustration. "but I guess I’m just too rich and perfect for that. instead, I had you laughing along with everyone else while old men belittled me."
sakura opened her mouth, but no words came out. it felt like everything yn said was just pouring out, and she was left speechless.
yn leaned further against the counter, taking another sip of water, and sakura couldn't shake the thought, was that even water?
"maybe it’s just me being dumb and craving that mother figure but it was such a shock for me," yn continued, "because when I was at sm, the girls I was with took care of me so well. you know aespa, right? you probably know I was supposed to debut with them?"
sakura nodded, her mind numb, her stomach sinking. guilt consumed her, she felt sick.
“yn-”
"did you also know I was forced out of the lineup because of my father?" yn’s words were laced with venom, and sakura flinched, the sharpness stinging her more than she expected. "I don’t want to be in this group as much as you don’t want me here."
"yn-"
"I have a question for you, unnie," yn said, dragging out "unnie" with a mocking tone. "do you hate me, or is it your insecurities getting the best of you?"
sakura was speechless. yn was right. yn was rich, pleasant, and constantly praised, yet that was just the surface, what sakura had seen from the outside. she didn’t know the full story, but the proof was standing right in front of her.
sakura wanted to be her in some ways, and that desire had only gotten in the way of building a connection with her.
"yn… I-"
"what’s going on?" chaewon’s voice broke through the tension, rubbing her eyes tiredly as she stepped into the kitchen. "I heard noise—what the hell, did you just get here?" her words were aimed at yn, who just shook her head, walking past chaewon and down the hall.
sakura’s gaze lingered down the hall where yn had disappeared, her chest heavy. chaewon’s questioning tone snapped her back to the moment. "what happened?"
a lump grew in sakura’s throat as she struggled to find the words. "um, nothing. just go back to bed."
she finally understood yunjin.

So This Is Love (Cinderella AU) || Logan x Reader
summary: You've spent most of your life being your stepfamilies maid and nothing more. But a chance encounter and an announcement of a royal ball could change everything.
warnings: fem!reader, toxic family, loss, angst, arguments, abusive household, fluffy ending. Typical cinderella story stuff
a/n: Okay so I am so excited for this!! I adore cinderella. Both the 1950 and the 2015 one. I kind of mixed both for this story and then added a few things myself. Also the dress I had in mind was the one from the 2015 movie because it's fucking gorgeous. I hope you all love prince Logan and that I was able to do the classic cinderella story justice. I also tried adding some x-men related names to keep the logan vibes but idk if its weird or not im sorry afasdfghj
Kindness.
Your mother always told you how important that was. To be kind even when the world looked down upon you for it. Treat everyone and everything with a gentle hand a nice smile. That's the way she lived her life. Always with a smile on her face. She just glowed. Your earlier memories of her were filled with joy and laughter. Going to the town market and greeting every one who ran the stalls.
The flower merchant was your favorite. Every time she had the prettiest flowers of all sorts of colors. Your mother always let you pick out one and place it in your hair. You had never felt more beautiful. Your father was just the same. The two of them were in love and everyone could see just how happy the little family was.
Then one day your mother got sick.
She fainted in the yard. You were only a child, your mother wouldn't wake up. You rushed to get your father and the next thing you knew you were sitting outside of her room being told it was time to say goodbye.
The light seemed to dim that day. Your father, he did his best. He loved you and tried to make you smile but things grew tougher and tougher for the two of you. He remarried to a woman who was cold at best. Distant and uncaring towards you with two daughters, Cassandra and Raven, who never gave you the time of day. But your father cared. But sometimes life was just too much.
The day your father died was the day the light truly left your world. Kindness. How could the world be so cruel to a family that only showed the best to everyone around them? Your stepmother grew cold and mean, your step sisters even crueler. You became the maid for the house. You cooked and cleaned and did the laundry.
The attic became your home. But even after it all, you could never forget your mothers words. So even when it was hard, you smiled. For it was all you could do.
The clock tower wakes you up just like it does every morning. The sun shines through the window and you sit up. You sigh as you try and hold on to the wisps of your dreams. It was of your mother this time. You loved those dreams. But there was no time to dilly dally. Getting up you open the window to let the fresh air in. A few little robins land on the window sill.
"Hello little ones, it's a lovely morning isn't it." You reach down into the small sack of bird seed and place a some in front of their feet. You hold out your finger and one of them hops onto it.
"Time to start another day," You hum.
Once they had eaten you watch them fly away, a part of you wishing you could join them. Wondering what it was like to be free. But there was no time to wonder. You did your chores like clockwork. Making the morning tea and breakfast for your step mother and sisters. Gather their laundry, feed the animals, tend to the garden.
"Hello mister, what are you doing here?" As you pulled fresh carrots from the ground you found a little field mouse hiding between the greens.
"Are you hungry?" You don't reach out, not wanting to scare him.
His big eyes looked up at you and his nose twitched. Sometimes you wondered if they could understand you, your animal friends were lovely company. Reaching into your pocket you pull out some left over chicken feed.
"I know it's not much but I hope it will do." The mouse gathers it in his little paws and scurries away. You smile as you bring back the veggies.
"Perhaps we'll do soup for dinner, how does that sound?" You ask Bruno the family dog who was sitting at your feet.
He lets out a low huff and you chuckle. A loud ring echoes through the kitchen. The bell on the wall signals you were needed at the front door. You hurried up the stairs to the door.
"Hello sir, how can I help you?" The man wordlessly hands you a letter and leaves.
You turn the letter over in your hands. You could just tell this was no ordinary letter. The envelope was cream colored with beautiful gold lettering. On the back rested a solid red wax seal with the royal crest pressed into it. At once you hurried to the study where your sisters were practicing music. You weren't supposed to interrupt but this was a letter from the castle. You cautiously open the door and three sets of eyes rest on you.
"Ma'am I'm sorry to-"
"What have I told you about interrupting us? You insolent child." Your step mother berates. You hold out the letter and lower your head.
"I know but a letter from the castle came and-" Once again your cut off as your step mother rips the letter from your hands. Your step sisters squealed so loud you swore the glass would break.
"A ball is to be held for all the the eligible maidens of the Kingdom." Your step mother announces to your step sisters. Cassandra grabs the letter from her mother and continues to read.
"The prince will take a wife!" Raven rips it from her sisters hands.
"The ball is to be held in two weeks! That's not enough time, we need new dresses and make up." The two girls are sent into frenzy at the news.
Meanwhile you were still processing the news. All the eligible maidens, well that meant you too! Oh your mother used to tell stories of going to balls. Dressing up and dancing to the music.
"Go to the village at once! Place an order with the seamstress for three dresses. And get the girls whatever they need." Your step mother commands and hands you the money. Your step sisters were busy writing down all the things they needed.
"Three dresses Ma'am?" She stops and looks at you in confusion.
"Yes three, for me and your sisters obviously."
"But the invitation says all eligible maidens...may...go." Your voice trails off as the three of them stare at you.
A moment of silence passes before all three of them burst out in laughter. You want nothing more than to disappear. Shame creeping up as they laugh like the idea of you going anywhere was just so amusing.
"You? Go to the ball in those rags?" Raven cackles. You smooth down your dress, trying to get rid of the wrinkles.
"What prince would ever want a peasant girl for a wife?" Cassandra adds on.
"Girls please, it's not her fault she's so...imaginative." Your step mother walks up to you. You feel so small under her gaze.
"Look at you, be serious. You are not worthy of a prince my dear." You feel tears pool in your eyes but you refuse to let them fall in front of them.
"I just want to go to the ball, What if I made my own dress?" You ask quietly. Your step mother thinks for a moment before a smirk crosses her face.
"Perhaps if you find your own dress and finish all the chores, you can go." Protests erupt from your step sisters but one look quiets them down. She takes their list and hands it to you.
"Now run along now, only the best for me and my girls." Without another word you turn on your heel and leave.
Your step mothers words replay over and over in your head. Worthy of a prince, you don't care about the prince. All you want is one night away, to enjoy yourself and forget about the hardships. The fabric for a dress would cost a pretty penny that you don't have. Not to mention the chores. But it wasn't impossible.
There's a dress hidden in the attic, it was your mothers. It wasn't anything impressive but it was a dress and it held a lot of special memories. The town was bustling with excitement from the news. The castle hasn't held a ball in years, ever since the Queen had passed unexpectedly one night the King had shut the doors of the castle. No one had even seen the prince. They knew not his face, only a name. James.
"Hello Eden, It's lovely to see you again." You greet the town seamstress with a smile.
"I assume you've gotten a plethora of orders since the announcement." Eden was the best seamstress in a hundred miles of here. She was older but her skills never wavered. She used to patch up your dresses when you came with your mother.
"Yes my dear, thank goodness for my daughters or I'd never finish it all in time."
"I'm afraid I'm here to add to your list. My step mother wishes to order three dresses for the ball." You hand Eden the money and she sighs. Your family was not easy clients. Always nitpicking her work and treating her like dirt.
"Only three?" You smile sadly as she adds the order to her stack.
"It's alright, I have an old dress of my mothers somewhere. It just needs to be fixed up and It's ready to go." Eden smiles softly and places her hands on top of yours.
She was always kind to you since your parents passed. She was like the grandmother you never had. "Here my dear, perhaps you can use some of these." She reaches down beneath the counter and hands you a box filled with scrap fabric and some jewels.
"Oh Eden thank you, this is perfect." You take the items and place them in your satchel.
You leave Eden's and begin on the list of things your step sisters have asked for. You bounced from shop to shop buying all of their strange requests. Your bag grew heavy as the sun moved through the sky.
"Hey! Get back here!" You turn your head to see the baker yelling at a little girl. She was dressed in rags, dirt on her face with a loaf of bread in her hands. He has her by her wrist and she was trying to get free. Without thinking you storm over.
"You little brat! I'll show you what happens to thieves like you!" The baker hisses and before he can do anything else you get between them.
"Stop that! She's a child!"
"She's a thief." His grip tightens on her little wrist and you feel yourself growing angry.
"She's hungry, can't you spare her some kindness." You plead.
While the baker is distracted the little girl bites his hand making him yelp in pain. He lets go of her and she runs away. With the girl gone the baker's anger turns to you.
"You stupid girl! You owe me for that bread and more. I hope that little girl was worth it!" You don't have any money left and the baker was growing more and more upset.
"I don't have the money sir but I can pay you back tomorrow." You tell him but he doesn't like that answer. You gasp as he grabs your arm tightly.
"You aren't leaving until that bread is paid for!" Before you can say anything else a large hand grabs the bakers.
You look to the side and see a man glaring at the baker. You don't recognize him but from the looks of his clothes he was most likely a nobleman visiting.
"Unhand the lady immediately." His voice is stern as the baker does what he says.
"That girl cost me a loaf of bread!" The man steps between the two of you, almost like he's acting as a guard.
"So? Are you that desperate for money that you can't spare a loaf of bread for a needy child?" The man asks.
The baker begins to stutter but the stranger seems to not care at all. The stranger relishing him to a nervous mess. You wonder just who this man was.
"You're embarrassing yourself sir, I would go back to your shop if I were you." The baker does as told, mumbling to himself as he retreats back into his shop. The man suddenly turns to you.
"Are you alright?" He stands so tall as he looks down at your arm. The man before you was unlike anyone you've seen. A handsome face but a stern aura. His clothes were woven with intricate detail and he was well kept.
"Yes, thank you sir." You bow your head to the man in thanks.
"That man was out of line, you were only trying to help." He states. You grew nervous under his intense eyes.
Out of the corner of your eye you see a pair of eyes watching you. It was the little girl, she quickly ducks behind a wall and you follow her. The man following you.
"Hello sweetheart, It's okay I won't hurt you." You say gently as you kneel down. She looks at you and then at the man with cautious eyes. You reach into your bag and pull out a few apples you had bought for a pie.
"Here, take them." She quickly grabs them from your hands and hides them away.
"Thank you." She says quietly.
"What's your name?" The man asks, he kneels down just like you. For some reason she doesn't seem afraid of him.
"Laura."
"That's a pretty name, where do you live?" He offers her a kind smile and she seems to relax a little bit.
"The orphanage." She replies.
Your heart breaks as you watch her small figure devour one of the apples. The orphanage was filled with too many kids and not enough money to help. The kids were often left starving and lonely. She must have snuck out to get food.
"Want to go back." She looks at the two of you and you reach out your hand.
"Come along then." Her tiny hand fits in yours as you walk her back to the orphanage.
The man comes with the two of you, his presence enough to deter any stares or rude comments. When you bring her to the front gates she rushes into the yard, pulling out the bread and breaking it apart to give to the other children. She looks back at the two of you and waves.
"That was a very kind thing you did back there." The man says, watching Laura with a frown.
"I just wanted to help her." You adjust the bag on your shoulder, its heavy weight taking a toll.
"Allow me." Before you can protest the man takes your bag and effortlessly puts it on his own shoulder.
"Oh it's okay sir, the walk back is far and I don't want to burden you." You try and reach for the bag but he doesn't let you.
"I don't mind. I would like to walk you back if that's alright with you. A gesture of kindness for earlier." You want to accept but you're hesitant, you don't even know who this man is. But he seems kind and you could use the help. It's been a long time since a stranger has shown you such kindness.
"Okay, but before you go I must ask your name." He begins to speak but stops himself, his eyebrows furrowing for a moment.
"Logan, my name is Logan."
"Are you from here Logan? Or are you only here for the ball?" "I grew up here." His answers are short but you don't mind. It's nice being able to talk to someone who doesn't stand on four legs.
"Are all these things for the ball, a little excessive don't you think?" He's very straightforward but you appreciate that.
"It's not for me, it's for my step sisters. They wanted all new make up and a new dress and anything they could think of." Logan chuckles and looks fondly at you.
"I don't understand the appeal of a ball to be honest, it seems like a place for obnoxious people to be around other obnoxious people." Logan states plainly.
"Perhaps, but for people like me it's exciting. My mother used to love to dress up and this is my chance to do the same."
"Used to?" Logan asks, his gaze softening as he notices your eyes flicker with sadness.
"She passed some time ago." You say sadly.
"My apologies." He looks at you and then looks forward at the path.
"My mother passed too."
"Oh Logan I'm so sorry." You place your hand on his arm in a moment of comfort.
"It’s okay, that’s just how life goes sometimes.” You wanted the talk to last forever.
But far too soon you reached the edge of town. You didn’t want him to know where you lived, if he walked you all the way back your stepmother might see him. It's better to keep him away from your mess.
“This is good. I can walk the rest of the way.” You tell him. He frowns as you stop dead in your tracks.
“Are you certain?” He asks in a confused tone.
“Yes, thank you so much Logan but I really must be going.” You take the bag and hurry off, leaving him standing alone in the road.
You were scolded for returning so late but you could care less. You had a dress to make. For the next two weeks every spare moment you had was dedicated to fixing your mothers dress. The spare fabric was perfect to patch up holes and add a satin neckline while the jewels made the whole dress shine. You powered through the chores and the lack of sleep for this.
Every now and again your thoughts would drift to Logan. Wondering if you’d see him at the ball, if you could get to dance with the man who came to your rescue. He was a very handsome man that you couldn’t deny. Would he even be interested in dancing with you? Would he care that you were nothing more than a peasant girl? He might take one look at you at home and run for the hills. But a girl can dream can’t she.
The day of the ball you were buzzing with excitement. Your chores were all done and all that’s left was to get ready. You hear the stomping of the horses outside and you hurried down the stairs.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Your step mother asks. Eyeing your dress with a disgusted look. The smile on your face drops.
“I finished my chores and I have a dress…you said I could go if I did all those things.”
“You call that a dress?” Raven scoffs. She circles you like a predator.
“This is nothing but a disaster. Imagine you dancing with the prince. Tripping over your own two feet and then oops,” She grabs a piece of your dress and rips it apart.
“Stop!” You cry as you try and grab the piece in her hand. Cassandra grabs the newly sewn neckline and rips it off.
“See? Nothing but a cheap imitation of real class.” You beg them to stop as they tear apart your dress.
Your mothers dress. All your hard work, your hope was gone. Tears stream down your face as you grab the scraps from their hands.
“Oh dear, it appears you don’t have a dress anymore. What a shame. Come along girls.” You watch through blurry vision as they leave.
Cackling with joy as they board the carriage. You don’t understand. Why do they hate you so much? What did you ever do to you? You’ve tried your whole life to be kind, to make your mother proud but it feels like the world is punishing you for it.
Your mother is gone. Your father is gone. The only family, if you can even call them that, hates you. They treat you like dirt. You race through the house. Running to the backyard and collapsing onto the ground. You sob into the scraps of fabric as you mourn the life you’ve missed. The hurt bubbling to the service.
“I’m sorry mother, I can’t do this anymore. I’m trying to be like you but I just can’t.”
“My dear, please don’t cry.” You scream as an unfamiliar voice speaks into your ear. You scramble back as a man in a red mask and a poofy white dress stands before you.
“W-Who are you?” You ask in disbelief.
“Well I’m Wade, your fairy godmother of course!” He says happily, pulling out a wand and sending sparks into the air. You watch in awe as the color bursts into the air.
“My what?”
“Fairy godmother! Corset and all sweetheart. My organs are all touching.” He whispers that last part to you.
“I don’t understand, You can do magic?”
“Uh, the magic wand here isn’t just for show.” He says while waving it around. A burst of magic shoots from the tip accidently and goes right through the attic window. He makes a noise and looks back at you.
“Whoopsie. Still working out the kinks.” He says while slamming the wand against his hand. You can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
“Anyways, It is my job to get you to the ball and to get you to the hot prince who’s waiting for you.” He leans in and nudges your shoulder.
“You’ll have to tell me if he really does have hair, everywhere.” You squeak at the implication and Wade just skips off. He points his wand at the pumpkin patch.
“Ive always wanted to do this!” He says excitedly. He speaks the magic words and before your very eyes a pumpkin grows and grows until he becomes a carriage. You gasp in amazement. Rushing over admiring the gorgeous white carriage.
“Okay now we need some horses!” Wade looks around the garden and sees a few field mice watching in the grass.
“Okay I haven’t done mice yet but what could go wrong right?” He shoots his magic at the mice and misses, causing a carrot to crawl out of the ground and run away.
“Will you just stay still! The cartoon mice were much more cooperative.” It takes him a few tries but he eventually gets them all.
Four beautiful stallions at the front of your carriage. A goose sitting by the fountain finds himself victim to Wade’s magic. Becoming a footman in an instant.
“Now we need to fix. All of this.” He gestures to your dress.
"Yeesh, would not say yes to this dress.” He mumbles as he starts to wave his wand.
“Oh! Please be gentle with this. It was my mothers.” You ask. You don’t want a full replacement. Just a little touch up.
“Don’t worry. I know what to do!” He cracks his knuckles and neck.
“Okay, maximum effort.” Magic surrounds you as you feel the dress change.
Your jaw drops as the torn rags turn into a beautiful blue ball gown. It was the prettiest dress you had ever seen. The way it swished and sparkled in the moonlight. It was beyond your wildest dreams. You lift your dress only to find crystal glass slippers adorned on your feet.
“I never understood glass slippers. As if heels weren’t hard enough to walk in. Trust me. These are killing me.” He lifts his own dress to show you heels taller than you’ve ever seen.
“It makes my butt look amazing though.” You laugh as you twirl around.
“Oh thank you Wade. How can I ever repay you for this?”
“Aw don’t worry child, You deserve this.” He pats your head and takes your hand, helping you into the carriage.
“First things first, I will hide your identity to your family for plot convenience so they won’t recognize you.” He taps his wand on your cheek and you wince as it pokes your skin.
“Second, to keep things interesting, this only lasts until midnight. Once the clock strikes 12 everything will revert back to the way it was. Except for the glass slippers. For some reason.” You nod, you don’t need this to last forever. This was enough. Just one night was enough.
“Thank you Wade. For everything.” You lean over and kiss his cheek.
“Awe, you really know how to make a guy blush. Now hurry! You don’t have much time. Mush horsies mush!” The horses take off and you watch Wade disappear in the distance.
You can barely contain your joy as you head to the castle. You couldn’t stop touching the dress or the plush seats of the carriage. It was unbelievable. A part of you was afraid if you blinked it would all go away or that this was just a dream and you were still back home. But as you near the castle it feels all too real. As you reach the steps of the castle your footman helps you out onto the ground. You turn and curtsy to the horses and to your footman.
“Thank you all.” Your heels clack on the marble stairs as you race up to the grand hall.
You’re awestruck at the beauty of the castle. Before the ballroom you stop in front of a large portrait of who you assume to be the royal family. The King sits regal as ever with the Queen standing by his side. A kind smile on her face as her hands rest on the Prince’s shoulder. The prince is only a child but you see he had his mothers hazel eyes. You bow to the portrait and then move to the ballroom.
The doors open and suddenly everyone's eyes are on you. A hush falls over the crowd as you walk up to the balcony. You see the King sitting at the front of the room, bowing in respect. You effortlessly glide down the stairs to the main floor. Whispers are shared throughout the guests but you pay them no mind. You were truly here. The music starts up again and the party slowly goes back to normal. You weaved your way through the crowd. Sneaking a chocolate covered strawberry from the dessert table. It was the sweetest thing you had ever tasted.
“That was quite an entrance.” You feel a hand on your shoulder and you turn around, your dress moving with you.
“Logan! You came.” You say with a smile. You weren’t sure you’d ever see him again. He’s dressed in white with accents of blue. His clothes are crisp and fitted perfectly.
“I thought you didn’t care for these.” He shrugs and looks around the room.
“I don’t, but I was hoping to find a familiar face.” Your breath catches in your throat as he reaches up and wipes chocolate from your lips. A half smile on his lips.
“I love chocolate too,” He says with an amused look.
“You know I never caught your name.” He remarks and you smile.
“You never asked.” You reply. Logan raises an eyebrow but chuckles at your response. The music dies down as the song comes to an end.
“Dance with me.” He holds out his hand but you shake your head.
“Oh I don’t dance Logan.”
“You can’t come to a ball and not dance love.” Your heart flutters at the pet name. It just sounds so sweet coming from him.
“The last time I danced I was a little girl standing on my fathers toes.” You admit shyly. Logan hums and tilts your chin up with his hand. The distance between the two of you closing in.
“Just trust me my love, I won’t let you fall.” He takes your hand and you follow him. He glances at the band and subtly nods his head. They start to play a new song as Logan positions your hands.
“Don’t look at anyone else but me.” He whispers in your ear.
You’re horribly nervous as the music starts. Just don’t step on his toes and you’ll be fine. Your feet move clumsily at first but with an encouraging smile from Logan you find your footing. The two of you glide across the ballroom. Capturing the attention of everyone in the room. You barely even noticed as you found yourself getting lost in his hazel eyes.
True to his word he never lets you fall. You don’t know how you’re dancing like this but you don't care. The two of you dance like you’ve been partners for years. Matching each other's movements effortlessly.
“You’re a natural my love.” He says with a grin.
“Only because I have you.” You say with a smile.
Happiness threatens to burst through your heart as the music comes to an end. Applause fills the room but you only pay attention to Logan. More couples join the dance floor as the music starts back up but you and Logan stay still in the middle of the dance floor.
“Prince James!” You hear a voice call. You pay no mind but Logan seems to tense.
“It’s far too crowded here, let's go somewhere quieter.” He takes your hand and guides you through the room. Weaving between people until you’re out of the grand ballroom.
“Logan, are we supposed to be here?” You ask worriedly.
“Don’t worry, trust me.” He says with a wink.
You admire the portraits and paintings on the wall. Logan brings you through the castle until you find yourself outside in the royal gardens. Colorful flowers fill the courtyard along with a marble fountain. You can’t help yourself as you admire every plant and flower.
Logan watched you with a smile on his face. You really are something special. But there's something he needs to confess. He wishes he didn’t have to but he cannot hide it any longer.
“My love, there’s something I need to tell you.” He says cautiously.
“Yes Logan?”
“I haven’t been completely honest with you about my identity. The truth is…” He trails off. Unsure of how to tell you.
“You’re the crowned Prince. Aren’t you?” There’s no anger in your voice. Only amusement. Logan’s jaw falls as he tries to gather his words.
“Did you know the moment we met?” He asks in disbelief. You shake your head, eyes turning back to the roses in the garden.
“I didn’t know until right now. Well a couple minutes ago. You led me through the castle without a second thought, you’re wearing the royal crest, and there are paintings of you and your family in every hall of the castle.” You explain with a giggle. Logan groans, of course you’d notice all of that.
“But most of all, you have your mothers eyes.” You reach up and cup his face, staring into those enchanting hazel eyes.
“Are you not angry with me for lying about my true identity?”
“No my prince, I understand why you did so. It must be so hard sometimes. So lonely.” He sighs and covers your hand with his.
“It can be yes, no siblings and a father who has shut you out since your mother passed.”
Logan’s life wasn't what all his subjects thought it to be. Perhaps when he was a child it was. His father was a cold man. Only caring about ruling his kingdom and nothing more. The only time he would talk to Logan was to berate him or remind him of his future responsibilities. No rough housing, no crying, no coddling. He will be the future king which means he must act like it.
It didn’t matter that he was only a child. His mother was much kinder. She stayed with him when he was sick or when he had a nightmare. She taught him everything he knows. Gardening, cooking, reading, dancing. All his mother. She would tell him stories of brave soldiers who slayed dragons and tales of prince’s meeting their princesses.
When she died, he was only a teenager. His father who was already a cold man grew even colder. His heart was frozen by the loss of his wife. Since then Logan had to become the model King his father wished him to be. Locked in the castle walls with no one. It didn’t take long for him to learn how to sneak out from under his fathers rule. He swore one day he’d leave and never look back. But that day never came.
The day his father got sick. He knows what’s coming. There’s no doctor in the world who can cure what his father has. It’s why his father planned the whole ball. Logan was to become King soon and he needed a wife. But this wasn’t how Logan wanted things to go. He doesn’t want to marry out of obligation. But despite being the prince, he’s utterly helpless.
“I’m so sorry, my prince.”
“Logan, please call me Logan.” He begs, he’s not your prince out here. Not when it’s just the two of you. You nod and he leads you through the gardens.
“Why Logan? We were told the Prince’s name was James.” You ask.
“James is my fathers name. But my mother gave me the name Logan. I prefer it to my given name.” Logan explains, his hand reaching down to pluck a white rose from one of the bushes. He carefully picks the thorns off the stem and holds it out to you.
“A pretty flower for a beautiful woman.” You bite your lip as he gently places the flower into your hair.
“Perfect.” He whispers. The falling vines shield you from the prying eyes of the walkway.
“Logan, aren’t you supposed to find a wife tonight?” You ask and his face hardens.
“My fathers idea. He wants me to be married for the good of the kingdom.” Logan huffs as he rolls his eyes.
“It doesn't matter what I wish for myself.”
“What do you wish for?” He looks at you with a look you can’t quite place. His hands cup your face and he brings himself closer to you.
“I want to marry for love, to find someone who cares for me and not just my title.”
“I see,” You squeak out. Your heart pounds in your chest as Logan edges ever closer. His gloved hands hold your face with such care. His lips just ghosting over yours.
“I believe I’ve found it.” He mumbles. Your eyes flutter closed as Logan closes the gap. You can barely feel his lips when the clock tower chimes through the courtyard. You gasp as you look at the time.
Midnight. You have to leave.
“Logan I, I’m sorry.” You turn and run as fast as you can. Through the garden back into the castle to the front doors.
“Wait, please don’t leave!” Logan calls after you. He’s running after you with all his might.
The carriage is waiting for you at the foot of the steps. You rush carelessly down the stairs. You feel your shoe fly off and you stop to grab it but Logan is close behind you. You can’t risk it. Before you can get into your carriage you hear him call for you again.
“Your name, I never got your name.” You turn back to see him on the steps.
He’s silently begging you not to leave. You almost tell him, almost. But reality has come crashing down on you. He’s the prince. He must marry someone important. Someone who can become queen one day. Someone who isn’t you.
“I’m sorry Logan.” You jump in the carriage and before Logan can do anything you’re off.
Logan bends down and picks up the glass shoe. He kicks himself for never asking your name. From the moment he saw you he felt a connection. You didn’t know who he was but you were so nice. Protecting that little girl without a second thought. Logan is normally a stoic man but you were easy to talk to. He wanted to talk to you.
The doors open as the guests start to file out. He feels a hand grab his arm and drag him back into the castle where his angry father awaits him.
“James! Where on earth did you go?! Do you know what a ruckuss you caused? Dancing with a mystery woman just to disappear for the rest of the night?!” His father yells but Logan could care less.
“She is my future wife. I know it. You wished for me to marry well I found a wife.”
“Well where is she?” His father asks. Logan looks down at the slipper and then back to his father.
“She ran. But I will find her. That’s a promise.” He says but his father just sighs.
“Son. Why can’t you just pick someone else? Princess Jean from the Grey family of the neighboring kingdom is interested and your marriage would be great for both our kingdoms.” His father says like its a matter of fact. Knowing his father Logan wouldn’t be surprised if he had already agreed to the marriage without even speaking to him.
“Because I love her father!” Logan roars. He is sick of being controlled by his father. He will rule the kingdom. He will be king one day and he will do it his way.
“Love doesn’t matter! Look what love got you son. She left you. She’s gone.” His father shouts.
“How could you say that? Did mother mean nothing to you? Did you not love her?!” Logan challenges. His eyes burn with intensity as he marches right up to his father. Logan’s chest heaves as his father sinks into his throne.
“Your mother was the love of my life.” He starts.
“But she died. My love could not heal her and now she’s gone. Please, I am doing this for your own good.” King James pleads. For the first time in the last 20 years Logan saw a hint of vulnerability break through his fathers hard shell.
“I love her. It may end in heartbreak, she may not want me. But all I know is I love her. Give me one week to find her. That’s all I ask. One week and if I fail then I will marry Princess Jean.” Logan drops to his knees.
His one last desperate effort to appeal to his father. His mother would want him to marry for love and he’s found it. He can’t give up on it now.
“Deal. One week James.”
True to what Wade had said, everything turned back to normal. Your dress, the carriage, the horses, and the footman. The gooses waddled by your side as the mice sat inside of your glass shoe as you walked back to your house. That night was something out of your wildest dreams.
Dancing with the prince, with Logan. The smile wouldn’t leave your face. How could it? You hummed the song that was playing as you danced to yourself. It didn’t matter how much your feet hurt, you were happy. The glass slipper sparkled in the moonlight.
You’re glad you have something to remember the night by, to prove it wasn’t just a dream. After letting the mice free you ran back to your room, just as you heard the carriage pull up. Prying the loose floorboard up you place the shoe gently inside, a keepsake you’ll hold dear forever.
The next morning you went back to your old life, being treated like dirt once again but it was okay. For when you had the chance you would daydream of the night before. Your sisters would not stop talking about the ball. Angry that they never got to speak to the prince and that some mystery woman stole him away. They’ll never know that was you. That the prince had chosen you to spend his night with.
No matter how cruel your family was, how much work they gave you, you were still happy. News had traveled quickly that the prince was looking for the mystery girl, a single glass shoe his only way of finding her. Your step mother had alerted your sisters this morning. A week to find his true love, how romantic.
You tried to balance your feelings. Could he really find you all the way out here? Would he even look past the town? He didn’t even know your name. What if he saw the true nature of your life, that you were not the woman he thought you were? What if he thought you were a princess or a noblewoman? That day in the town you had spent a lot of coins. Would he want you as just a peasant maid girl?
”I expect the house to be spotless for the prince’s visit.” Your step mother demands.
Not a single speck of dirt is allowed. You worked tirelessly day and night. Even when your step sisters would spill something on purpose or tip over your water bucket, you managed to get it done. The prince was to travel to the outskirts of the town by mid afternoon. You were absolutely exhausted. You trudged up the stairs to your room. To your shock your step mother was sitting on your bed, your glass slipper dangling from her finger.
“Where did you find that?” Your voice quivering with fear. You hid that away, you only brought it out in the dead of night. How could she have found it?
“Do you think me a fool, my dear?” Her voice is cold, void of any emotion as she swings the slipper back and forth.
“Please don’t!” You reach forward but she pulls it back. Your steps falter, her stare grounding you to the spot you’re standing in.
“It’s fragile.” You whisper.
“You really are dreadful at keeping secrets. Humming a tune, swaying to the imaginary music when you think no one is looking. And this.” She holds out the slipper.
“The mystery girl at the ball had shoes made of crystal, my dear. I wonder just how fragile it really is.”
“Please, I don’t want anything from you. I've done the chores I’ve kept quiet…” Your step mother stands up and marches over to you. She leers down at you in utter discontent.
“Silence! You insolent girl. You have ruined everything! I knew I should have thrown you out the minute your father died. All he cared about was you, I was his wife but he gave you all his attention. Probably because he was still in love with that wretched woman.”
“Don’t talk about my mother like that! You know nothing of who she was. She was kind, strong and loving. Everything you aren’t!” You shout back.
Your step mothers faced into shock and then to anger. But you couldn’t stop, once the gates had been opened it’s all flooding out.
“Why are you so cruel to me? What could I possibly have done to you? I was a child! A child who had lost both her parents and you couldn’t find an ounce of sympathy. Not one.” You fall to your knees, years of built up emotions flooding out of you. You wince as your stepmother grabs your arm, her nails digging into your skin.
“Don’t you dare speak to me like that.” She snarled.
“You are nothing but a worthless little girl and you will never be anything more than that. Do you understand me?” Her eyes are burning with rage. She tightens her grip on the heel of your slipper. Your eyes widen as you realize what she’s going to do.
“No!” You scream as she slams the slipper to the ground.
It shatters into pieces before your eyes. Scattering across your floor. You sob as you grab at the pieces you can still hold. You look up at your step mother with tearful eyes.
For a second, perhaps it is your imagination, you see a flicker of regret. But it disappears just as quickly as it came. The sound of horses comes rumbling in the distance. Your stepmother walks past you. The heel of the slipper is still in her hands.
“Make a sound and you’ll never step foot outside again.” She slams your door shut and you hear the click of the lock.
You cry and cry your heart out. Holding the broken pieces of crystal to your chest. The one happy moment in your heart has been shattered just like everything else. Why couldn’t they just let you be happy for once? You spent your whole life trying to live through kindness and you thought that maybe the world would show you a little too.
But it’s done the worst thing. It gave you a sliver of hope, a sliver of happiness and then it crushed it. Crushed it until there’s nothing left.
Maybe this is just the life you’re meant to have, perhaps the happiness wasn’t meant to be. Logan was too good to be true, he’ll find a new wife after this week. He’ll become King and forget all about you. Even when he’ll be all you dream about for the rest of your life.
You gently place the broken pieces on top of a piece of fabric, bundling them up and placing them under your bed. The tears have slowly stopped falling. You rest your arms on the window sill. A light breeze comes through to dry your tears. You stare at the castle in the distance.
Replaying the night over in your head in hopes that it brings you some peace.
“Hello Prince James.” Logan stands at the door of the house. Your stepmother and stepsisters bow in his presence.
“These are my daughters Cassandra and Raven.” Logan nods as the two girls eye him shamelessly.
“Let's get this over with.” Logan mumbles to the guards who were standing beside him.
He’s searched through the whole kingdom. Today marks a week since that night of the ball. Today was his last chance to find you and he’s almost given up hope. The shoe hasn’t fit anyone, he knows if he sees you he won’t even need the shoe but it was a way to make sure in his fathers eyes.
“My aren’t you handsome.” Raven purrs, reaching out to touch his chest. He steps back and lets the guards step in front of him. Holding the shoe out to Raven. Raven sits down and holds out her foot. The guard tries to put the shoe on but it’s too small.
“Must have shrunk since last week.” Raven says with gritted teeth.
“It doesn’t fit Raven, now move over.” Cassandra pulls her sister out of the chair and sits down instead.
Gloating at the way Raven pouts. Once again the shoe is placed on Cassandra’s foot and once again it doesn’t fit. Logan holds back the urge to roll his eyes as Cassandra tries to fit her foot in through force.
“Thank you for your time.” He starts to leave but he’s stopped by your stepmother.
“Wait! My prince, I promise you the shoe belongs to one of my daughters.” She pulls the heel of the slipper out of her pocket. Logan’s eyes widen as he sees the familiar glass slipper.
“Where did you find this?” He demands.
“As I said before, it belongs to one of my daughters.” Logan doesn’t believe her for a second. He knows who he danced with and it wasn’t the two girls standing before him.
“My prince, listen!” One of the guards says. Your stepmother opens her mouth to protest but one look from Logan silences her. His ears strain to hear what the guard was talking about. There’s nothing but silence at first, but then he hears it. A soft hum of a familiar song. He knows that song, that’s the song he danced to at the ball.
“Where is she?” He growls, his polite front dropping in an instant.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. There is no one else here.” Your stepmother tries to argue but Logan pushes past her.
Running up the stairs to the attic. Stopping every now and then to hear you sing. At the very top of the stairs sits an old wooden door. Without thinking he slams his shoulder into it. The wood shakes and creaks under his force.
“Logan?” You ask in disbelief, your voice muffled through the wall.
“Stand back!” Logan says before ramming his shoulder against the door again. It splinters with ease. You stare in shock as Logan stands before you.
“It’s you.” He says breathlessly, uncaring of the dust and grime that now stains his perfect suit.
“You found me.” You whisper.
“I haven't stopped looking for you since the ball.” Logan walks over to you, striding across the room in need. His arms wrapping around your waist pulling you close.
“I have fallen madly in love with you.” He confesses.
You reach up and wrap your hands in his hair, pulling him in for the kiss you didn’t get to have in the gardens. His hands squeeze your waist softly as he groans into the kiss. You’re both desperate and passionate. Trying to speak a thousand words with only your lips.
“Do I finally get to know your name?” He asks with amusement. A smile on his face as he cups your face. You laugh and tell him. He repeats you, your name rolling off his tongue with ease.
“What a perfect name.” He hums, his thumb brushing your cheek softly. Logan takes a step back and drops to one knee, pulling out a gorgeous ring from his pocket.
“Marry me my love.” He holds out the ring and you feel your heart jump.
“Of course I will.” You cry. He places the ring on your finger and spins you around. You laugh with pure joy as he pulls you in for another kiss.
“Your stepmother is an awful woman.” He mumbles, if he could he’d kick them out of his kingdom for treating you like this. Locking you away like a prisoner in your own home.
The two of you hand in hand head back downstairs. All eyes are on you as Logan leads you through your house. The house that was once filled with happy memories of your parents, now tainted by years of abuse and cruelty from your stepmother. Logan stands at your side, blocking their view of you as you walk out the door.
“Wait! Please you can’t just leave us. I won’t allow it!” Your stepmother hisses as she follows you out the door.
The guards step forward but you call them off. Logan looks at you, silently asking if you’re sure and you nod. Reluctantly he lets go of your hand, letting you walk up to your step mother. You hold your head high, a feeling of complete freedom.
“You don’t control me anymore.” You stand tall, watching as your stepmother's face morphs through different emotions. Your whole body is shaking. But she can’t hurt you anymore, she doesn’t get to destroy your life. Logan laces his hand with yours and gently pulls you back to the royal carriage.
“Are you alright?” Logan asks as he sees the tears in your eyes. He reaches up and brushes the stray tears away.
“Yes Logan, I’m perfect.”
In an instant your life changed. Your wedding was a grand affair. The whole town was thrilled to have a new princess and the celebration was amazing. Logan was a model prince, using his power and status to help the town orphanage so that all the children could live happy and comfortable lives. He wasn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and work to help his kingdom.
After years of being locked away he was discovering what it meant to be free just like you were. The two of you were beloved. Praised for being kind, fair, and happy rulers. You spread kindness through everything the two of you did together. He’s everything to you and you are his whole world.
The view of the kingdom from your bedroom window was nothing short of breathtaking. You place birdseed on the window sill and a few birds fly up to the castle window. They chirp happily and you watch them with a smile on your face.
“What are you thinking about my love?” Logan asks as he wraps his arms around you from behind. His chin resting on your shoulder.
You look back at his handsome face, seeing the man you love with nothing but content on his face. He brought the light back into your life and it shines brighter than ever before. Then you look back at the kingdom, your kingdom. For once your heart does not ache watching from the window. Now you feel only love and peace.
“Nothing my prince, I’m just happy.”

PLEASE do more storytimes of ur 15 days in ur dr 😩😩 like literally talk about anything, what food did you munch on, outfits, small details of your life that anyone else would find mundane but were so important to you... yap your soul away I BEG 🙏
✶ the basics of my shift to my better cr.
◞ when i shifted : september 3rd to september 18th.
◞ my time ratio : i went to sleep in my cr at about 1 in the morning (oh, quiet !!!) and woke up around 12 am. so i'm not really sure about the time ratio. it has always been 1 hour = 1 week, but i suppose it was different. time is fake. calendars are a conspiracy. moving on.
◞ where i shifted : new york. more specifically my room !! more specifically...... my mom's penthouse in fifth ave which looked absolutely the same as my pinterest board !?!?! uh I DID check google maps to find my house, only to find out that in this reality, it's a hotel ?!?!?! so. yea. kewl.
◞ backstory stuff : so, in my better cr i am basically me. everything is the same except that like everything's amplified. like i am me, but on dolby atmos surround sound with a slight film grain, ykykykykyk? my mom has a billion dollar worth foods-company (which primarily specialised in sugar-free and sometimes gluten-free stuff). she’s like if gwyneth paltrow actually had taste, and her whole brand is “eat like a decadent queen but without the sugar crash.” my dad, who is divorced from my mom, is somehow involved in auction houses & art dealing. not in a shady way, just in a “I inherited this Monet and I suppose I should do something with it” way. he’s always at Sotheby’s, slightly overwhelmed, always one step away from getting scammed. his great-great-grandma was like...a duchess in russia, and then fled during the russian revolution. so...that's that. i live with my older brother, who is very much a VERY GOOD (and i mean very, very, very good) tech bro who parties way too much and my mom. my younger brother lives with my dad in the west village. the custody arrangement was quite literally dictated by vibe.
◞ some of my friends : as always, i scripted in lily rose depp (she isn't an actress, though). our moms were really good friends, and that's how we met. when i shifted, i did gain some memories (!!!! and they were all so kewt) that we shared. i think my favourite one was when we were 12 and walking around galeries lafayette and just trying on heels. in chanel. and dior. heels that cost more than a small car. we were 4’10 and wobbling around, but we swore we were women of the world.
oh, and the most unhinged friend situation?? blair waldorf and serena van der foocking woodsen. YEP. so my better cr WAS inspired by gossip girl, but obviously i didn't want to be stalked n all, so i didn't even bother scripting them in, but my brain did it anyways. SO. yea. i even went to blair's slumber party (but like earlier, not during this shift). it was absolutely perfect. silk sleep masks. monogrammed pajamas. a slight air of menace, because blair is blair. i respect it.
◞ about loml, coryo : soooo, i didn't get to talk to him much :( cause we were at the rivals stage of our whole....saga. but, like, flirty rivals. the type where he would look at me in class like he was plotting my downfall, and i would look back like i was considering letting him. a classic. we didn’t do much !!! sadly !!!! although he DIDDDDD put his arm around me once !!!! when i was walking to classsss.sss/s/s//!??!?!?!?!?? so. YEA. hehehehehehhehe. ALSO. watched him play basketball......which was..........definitely not an out of body experience.
more important things !!!!
◞ food : okay. very important. let’s talk snacks. the cafes in my better cr are like little jewel boxes, and they make the best hazelnut croissants known to mankind. flaky. golden. would cause riots if taken away. also, i drank so many iced matchas i swear my bloodstream was 50% soy milk. my favourite meal was this ridiculous dinner at le bernardin where my mom and i ordered like four courses and just gossiped the whole time. opulence and secrecy, baby.
talking about my mom !!! on day 7 ish we went to louis vuitton for no absolute reason, and i experienced euphoria when we walked out there with new LV handbags. no special occasion, no nothing !!! (i start rioting cause i want to be back in my dr)
◞ outfits : what i wore daily was basically........MMMM. my closet was so massive. so so so so massive. and everything, and i mean EVERYTHING from my pinterest board was there. YEA, YEA!!! cashmere cardigans, tiny skirts, knee-high socks, vintage designer. most of my weekend nights were just me changing outfits. cause. AAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!
◞ small details : the smell of my apartment in the morning was always coffee and expensive candles. i had a balcony, which is insane considering it’s new york, but we move. i spent most evenings perched there with a book, looking over the city like some sort of melancholic heiress.
◞ school : st. lazarus international college (i am gonna introduce this one because i swear there has never been a kewler sckewl). yeah. the most competitive, the most exclusive, the most "if you don't know someone, you simply won't get in" school in new york. my mom basically donated a library to make sure i never had to worry about a waitlist. the building looks like an old château got plucked from the french countryside and dropped onto the upper east side, except it has a state-of-the-art technology lab and a rooftop garden where people pretend to study. the halls ARE buzzing. the classrooms ARE ivy-league rigorous. the drama IS constant. the uniform IS exquisite. crisp white button-downs, navy skirts, custom blazers with embroidered crests, knee-high socks, and a distinct air of inherited wealth.
◞ classes : philosophy was my favorite. not because i actually cared about the syllabus, but because the professor was clearly going through something existential, and it was just funny to poke at his worldview with hypotheticals that made him question reality. history was a battlefield, literally, because coryo and i sat across from each other. french? easy. literature? divine. mathematics? completely unnecessary to my future, but tolerable because my notes were meticulously colour-coded.
◞ social scene : so you already know about my girl lily-rose, but there were so many more. the usual suspects: the impossibly rich, the impossibly gorgeous, and the impossibly charming. social hierarchy wasn't rigid, but it was understood. there were the future ceos, the legacy kids, the ones who summered in capri, the ones whose last names could buy small countries. my niche was effortlessly magnetic. somewhere between the literati and the scandal-makers, sipping matcha lattes while discussing nietzsche, only to abandon the conversation halfway through to plan a party. the sheer drama of it all. the only thing that mattered was that i was KEWL.
◞ parties : iconic. thrown in penthouses, brownstones, luxury hotel suites when someone’s parents were away. they started with sophisticated cocktail hours and always descended into beautifully controlled chaos. champagne in crystal coupes, whispered conversations on private terraces, someone always ending the night dramatically (usually not me, but i did have my moment.......we'll get to that later). i attended two, excluding day 12-13 when i went to athens with my friend to celebrate her birthday (it was.....very fun. believe me).
◞ moments that i'll never forget : buying my first designer bag (chloé tote), gave coryo a nosebleed (i talked about that already but you know......so...wow moment), discussed halloween with my friend group (and then shifted right before it UGH), overheard a woman complaining about the declining quality of caviar. felt like i was in a tv show. rich people are SO weird. i felt like i was in crazy rich asians.
◞ books i read during my shift (literature is important!!!) : bonjour tristesse andddddd started reading ulysses.
◞ random things that made my shift feel real : the specific way my balcony doors creaked when i opened them. the sound of a coffee being stirred at my favorite café. a pinch i gave my forearm everyday i woke up there !?!?!?
that’s the shift report, lovies. let me know what else you wanna hear, cause trust me, i could talk for hours. cause i remember EVERYTHING. not every second, but, like, every hour at least. mwah xxxxxxx and thank god for self made this method that helped me do this like yip yip hooray !?!?

Okay but what's crazy is that the episode does subtly reveal that Adrien did keep it a secret from Marinette that he's more than silent jogging buddies with Sublime
In the beginning, Marinette says that when she asked Adrien if he and Sublime talk when they go running he always says "no". This is factually correct as we find out in the end through Sublime:
But there is obviously something not adding up here. Sublime literally says "Outside of running, of course Adrien and I talk". They just arent talking in any of their morning runs because Sublime in particular is doing it as serious training. So no talking because that would impact their breathing, but outside of that? Well, yeah, duh.
And that makes sense
Adrien and Sublime are in the same ancient Greek class, of course they would talk. I'm gonna go with the assumption that this is why Sublime started running by his side, because they vaguely knew each other from Greek class and when they crossed each others running paths one morning they were familiar enough to just run together in silence
Look, I- I dont know how to put this more elegantly, so I'll rip off the bandaid. The vibes I'm getting from this episode are that Adrien was more than cool with not talking anyway because he deliberately keep his friendship with Sublime a secret from Marinette because he knew Marinette would be weird about it and that made him uncomfortable.
He knows his girlfriend and she's peanut-butter-and-jealous.
And the thing is, as much as this certainly is a complicated topic with a lot of factors to consider for both sides, the way the episode had Marinette go about all this...
... the episode proved him RIGHT. He was right to be too uncomfortable with letting Marinette know about being friends with Sublime. She merely found out that they were running together in silence and proceeded to not only keep watching them each morning and taking photos, Marinette even proceeded to stalk the hell out Sublime:
No, this isnt normal. This isnt a "quirky girlfriend" thing to do, or "funny haha". Its one of the reason why Adrien didnt feel comfortable letting her know.
And, I mean, yeah. I can't blame him for it, can I? :I
Later on, Sublime is very quick to piece together that the girl hiding behind them is Adrien's girlfriend. Not the thing I would immediately go with, unless of course Adrien did already vaguely mention having a girlfriend to Sublime at one point. Then yes, her coming to this conclusion after Marinette followed her all day makes a lot more sense. Even if those are not.. nice implications. The episode does go on playing it straight at first that Marinette is the weird and a bit alarming girlfriend.
Look, you can pretty this up if you like, but for me, Adrien is clearly a solid bit uncomfortable and very apologetic here to Sublime because of Marinette's behavior. Sublime too is being nice about it to a degree you shouldnt take for granted. She would have had been perfectly justified in saying something else entirely. Adrien is trying to be a good boyfriend about this, but Marinette is out here proving him right in having struggled with wanting her to know about Sublime. Marinette has been following her around all day, Sublime noticed, and Adrien is doing good faith damage control here by telling Sublime that Marinette has good intentions and only wants to be her friend.
Something, though, that the episode clarified 3 times wasnt really the case:
It is so weird that at the core of the problem for both sides of Adrinette WAS Marinette being peanut-butter-and-jealous.
Marinette did NOT try to befriend Sublime out of some pure-hearted desire to know her. She did so because she feared that Adrien could end up not loving her anymore if she doesnt gain some control over the Sublime situation real quick
And Adrien DID keep his friendship with Sublime a secret from Marinette because, well, was he wrong?
And thats the thing. The episode just DROPS this in favor of saying that Marinette only had these pure-hearted intentions to know her when that isnt true. The episode proved Adrien alarmingly RIGHT in his gut feeling to keep Sublime a secret from Marinette, they just-
They just didnt let him know about any of it as if that makes it any less true. I would understand it if this episode had been entirely about tackling this issue for good. Adrien not being wrong for feeling uncomfortable with letting Marinette know about any new female friends and then Adrien gets proven right, but the situation is saved by Marinette's secondary desire of befriending Sublime.
Sure, not the plot of my choice, but I would GET IT because it would actually cover the given problem. Here it is... they didnt do it. Adrien was proven right, Marinette did everything wrong to Sublime that was possible and ended up breaking her prosthetic and ruined the sponsorship with a combo of Marinette's and Ladybug's harmful inconsideration.
Marinette did exactly what Adrien was afraid of... and they just DON'T resolve the initial Adrinette core of this issue. It's still ongoing. Marinette didnt even get to react in the end to finding out that Adrien did keep her in the dark about talking to Sublime:
I guess for now the explanation for that will be that Adrinette switched positions in this for once and now it's Marinette who isnt questioning it enough that Adrien only said the truth to her going by the technicality of "She only ask him if they talk while running".
Obviously, this is not how it works. He kept her in the dark. And whether he was right to doing so or not isnt important for the feeling I'm getting that this is just the beginning of a streak of similar problems like this. The postponed resolution to this will happen at a later point, and knowing Miraculous, they'll do it after it escalates to hell.
We already saw it in "Illustrhater" and the synopsis for "Werepapas" for example also sounds like Marinette will not stop here being a questionable girlfriend
I just dont understand why they would keep on DOING that?

⋆。°✩ jake pulls you into a kissing booth
would you kiss me? | sim jaehyun x male!reader
pairing: jake x male!reader genre: fluff words: 1.8k notes: my first jake fic! honestly wanted to write about him for a long time because he's one of the first guys i saw from enha ... he just has that hot popular kid vibe ... i HAD to make this ... AAAAA ALSO SHOUOUT TO @kaiyunsim! THIS ONE'S FOR YA BRUH
Your days at school began like any other student's. Each day was a repetitive cycle of subjects you had to endure until the semester ended. You had memorized these lessons long ago, yet still found yourself sitting in class, trying to absorb the material. It was exhausting, but deep down, you loved the thrill of academics. School was a place of peace for you, a welcome escape from home, which felt far away. It was a place you cherished, filled with the laughter of friends and the buzz of youthful dreams.
However, if you could choose to be anywhere else, it certainly wouldn't be your school, especially not during the school's founding celebration fair. To make matters worse, your friend had signed you up to help out at your class's assigned booth — the kissing booth.
You rested your head against your hand, manning the busy booth with an aloof gaze. It wasn't that you disliked helping; it was just that you hadn’t volunteered for this. You watched the chaos unfold around you, the energy of the fair buzzing like a live wire. Everywhere you looked, students were laughing, playing games, and enjoying the festivities. But here you were, stationed at the kissing booth, a reluctant participant in this social spectacle.
"Thanks again for helping out!" a classmate chimed in, trying to lift your spirits. His bright smile was infectious, but you only managed a half-hearted nod.
"Ugh... it’s not like I had a choice. Joey signed me up before I could protest," you replied, rolling your eyes.
"Joey did? She's a riot!" your classmate laughed nervously, glancing at you. Your glare silenced him. "Oh! I mean... she's just so... um, enthusiastic, right?"
"It’s for fun!" Joey interjected, crashing into the conversation, her energy palpable. The other student bolted away as if he had just seen a ghost.
"Aren't you allowed to have fun, Mr. President?" Joey turned her gaze to you as she held her hands onto your shoulders.
You sighed, leaning back in your chair. Making friends in high school was challenging enough, but when people clung to you like they were your lifeline, things got complicated. Joey had always stuck to you like glue. As you grew to tolerate her presence, she introduced you to 'normal high school things'—experiences you had only read about in books or seen in movies. You felt like you could only refuse her so many times before she'd throw a tantrum.
"Again, it's ACTING president. I've only been called that since the new semester started, okay?" you corrected her, a hint of frustration creeping into your voice.
"Yeah, right. You'll definitely win again if you ever run. It’s your calling!" she teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"That’s why I can't be here," you said, standing up, feeling the weight of tiredness settling on your shoulders.
Joey grabbed your arm, pulling you back down. You knew this would happen, but it never hurt to try and escape, right?
"Hey! Not again!" she sighed, exasperated. "You've only been here for two hours! I promised you food, right? Just help out at the booth."
You shot her a glare but couldn't keep the corners of your mouth from twitching upward. "Fine, but I can’t promise I won’t try to escape again. It’s exhausting watching people come in and out of this booth."
Joey looked where you pointed, a smirk growing on her face. "Why? Curious about what happens there?"
You shot her an incredulous look, but she only saw the red flush creeping across your cheeks.
"What?" she defended, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Ding ding ding?"
"No one’s interested!" you exclaimed, covering your face in embarrassment. Joey just laughed, the sound ringing like music in the chaos around you.
"Sure! It isn’t a big deal. Not at all~" she sang, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit of warmth at her playful attitude.
As you chatted with Joey, a commotion erupted nearby, followed by a wave of cheers.
"Aahh! It's the soccer team!"
"The boys! The boys!"
The crowd erupted as the campus soccer team made their entrance, radiating an undeniable charm. With their impressive recent state champion title win for the nth time, and their unrealistic and striking looks, they were the stars of the event. You could see the excitement in the air, students gushing over their favorite players, the thrill of being close to someone so admired.
One of them, clearly the leader, locked eyes with you and bit his lip. "Hey~" he called out, confidence radiating like a warm sun on a cold day, having brushed his hair back, a gesture that seemed to send the crowd into a frenzy.
You blinked, looking to your side. "Uh... who are you talking to?" You felt your heart race, unsure if he was really addressing you. "Me?"
The guy grinned, stepping closer, and you could feel the heat radiating from him. "Oh definitely. You're really adorable up close, huh?"
You rolled your eyes, convinced this must be one of those pranks online. But he didn’t back down; instead, he moved closer to your ticket table, his presence both thrilling and intimidating.
"Ahem ... To purchase a ticket for the booth, please ensure you have your partner with you. All pairs come first," you stated, reading the fine print from the paper in your hands, trying to maintain your composure.
"Good then." He flashed you his ID. "Jake Sim."
"Jake Sim," you repeated, scribbling his name down. "Who would you be taking to the kissing booth?"
You looked behind him as his members stood still. "One of them?" You snickered.
"Kissing booth?" Jake's eyes widened in surprise, who seemingly haven't heard you talk for that second. "This isn't just a regular dating booth?"
You sighed, feeling an exasperated laugh bubble up. Of course, it isn't. The dating booth idea was scrapped due to budget constraints, leaving this more intimate alternative. There wasn't anything you can do at that point, even though you were the council's ACTING president.
"Yes."
"Shoot..." Jake checked his breath, a sudden look of concern washing over his face. You couldn’t help but chuckle at his sudden panic.
You laughed lightly. "Mint?"
He shot you a look, as if to say don’t look at me right now.
"Huh? I'm good!" he declared, spraying some fresh mist into his mouth. "See? Nothing happened." he smirked, spreading his arms wide, clearly trying to charm you.
"I still can't give you a ticket," you replied firmly, crossing your arms.
"Why?" he pressed, a playful challenge in his eyes.
"You have no partner—"
"I can take you with me, can't I?" he cut in, blunt and straightforward, his eagerness palpable.
It felt as if time had frozen. He looked at you with eager anticipation, and you could only respond with confusion, your heart fluttering unexpectedly.
"Me?" you stammered, flustered. "You can't possibly think of me as—"
Suddenly, you heard a whirlwind of chaos behind you, like a storm brewing in your booth.
"Two dollars, and he's yours!" Joey shouted, tossing you toward Jake with a mischievous grin.
"That's more like it!" Jake said, handing over the bills to Joey and waving goodbye as he led you toward the booth.
"Thank you for the donation!" Joey called after you, her voice fading as you felt your heart racing faster than ever.
"Two dollars?!" you exclaimed, shooting a death glare at Joey, who simply smiled and waved goodbye, leaving you feeling wronged yet slightly amused.
"Trust me! You’re worth more than that!" she whispered dramatically, retreating into the crowd.
You felt your blood boil at the suddenness of it all, yet something else stopped you in your tracks. It was as if time had paused again, leaving only the two of you in this moment filled with tension and unspoken words.
"This is ridiculous," you mumbled, avoiding Jake's gaze. Beads of sweat trickled down your forehead, and you wiped them away with your hands, feeling the heat of embarrassment creeping up.
Jake laughed, drawing closer, his presence overwhelming and oddly comforting.
"What?" You looked at him.
"I'm just trying to understand why you don’t want me kissing you," he said with that playful grin that made your heart skip a beat. "I mean, everybody wants a piece of me."
So bold?! You rolled your eyes at his audacity. "What an airhead you are..."
Airhead? I thought people liked confident guys. Jake pondered, trying to maintain his charming facade.
"Heh. Am I an airhead?" he scoffed, a playful smirk on his face. "Isn’t it just because I know what I like?"
"Ugh." You mimicked your friend's signature sassy move. "Do NOT tell me that."
Am I already screwing this up? Jake’s mind raced, unable to keep up with his facade crumbling under the pressure.
"Can’t we just enjoy this moment between us, babe?" Jake said, leaning in and pressing his hands beside your head. Your eyes widened in shock, and you felt your heart hammering in your chest.
That's it, look flustered… please? Jake thought desperately, a hint of vulnerability breaking through his bravado.
You stared at him, disbelief washing over you. He was already making a move with something as cringeworthy as this? And calling you by such a boring pet name? You couldn't even imagine the other ridiculous things he might do. Maybe he would—
KISS YOU?! In a blink, his lips met yours, soft as a cloud brushing against your skin.
In that instant, something snapped within you. You tried to push him away, but he only deepened the kiss, and you felt something strange sliding between your mouths.
"Hey!" you exclaimed, trying to pull away.
"What—"
"A tongue?!" you gasped, staring at him, bewildered. Jake chuckled, clearly enjoying your reaction, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"What? I’m not doing anything," he smirked, knowing full well what he was doing.
"You snuck that devilish tip of your tongue into my mouth!" you accused, covering your face as heat rushed to your cheeks, embarrassment flooding your senses.
"Oh come on, you liked it," Jake teased, his confidence unwavering.
Did you? He wondered, feeling a mix of hope and doubt.
"That’s it! You had your time!" you declared, storming away, embarrassed and flustered. "Enjoy, then get lost!"
As you walked away, you shot one last glance over your shoulder, throwing out something Jake never thought he’d hear directed at him.
"Weirdo..." you muttered, shaking your head in disbelief, a mixture of confusion and exhilaration swirling inside you.
Jake stood there, feeling like a lost puppy searching for its owner. The thrill of the kiss lingered on his lips, but the sting of embarrassment washed over him.
Somewhere on campus, you could almost hear his loud screams of agony.
His friends rushed over, concern etched on their faces. "Hey, Jake!" a couple of teammates called, finding their captain lying on the ground, kicking his feet in shame.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Jake screamed again, all his efforts feeling wasted, his face buried in his hands as if he could hide from the world.
"Oh my god, he’s breaking down..." Joey remarked, stepping into the booth. She quickly closed the curtains, glancing at the curious onlookers, knowing too well the rumors that would fly around.
"Shh! People will get the wrong idea about our booth! This is NOT a screamo booth; the main stage is down by the garden pavilion."
Jake grabbed one of his larger teammates, his eyes wide with despair. "He looked at me like I was DIRTY!!!" he cried, trying to wipe away his tears, but failing miserably.
"Are you ... crying?!" Joey exclaimed, her eyes wide in disbelief.
"Yes, I’m crying!" Jake declared, wiping his face in a panic, his emotions spilling over.
"Captain, your image—"
"Who cares!" Jake slumped back down, defeated. "He probably thinks I’m a loser at this point... What gives?"
A heavy silence blanketed the booth, the weight of the moment pressing down on him.
"It’s not like it’s the last chance you’ll ever get, you know cap?" one teammate said, trying to console him, though the words felt hollow in the air.
"But..." Jake murmured, his confidence wavering.
Another teammate stood up, raising his fist in determination. "You’re Jake Sim, our all-powerful soccer team captain! You can do anything!"
Jake slowly lifted his gaze, intrigued by their words, the fire within him beginning to reignite.
"And you can make up for it!" his teammates urged. "Then you’ll get that chance!"
He considered his situation. If he could somehow make up for what he did with you, it would earn him some serious brownie points, right? Maybe then he'd finally get the chance to ask you out.
"Okay!" Jake declared, standing tall and raising his fist triumphantly. "I’ll try better this time!"
"That’s the spirit, Captain Jake!" his teammates cheered, ending with a loud burst of laughter, their camaraderie lifting his spirits.
"Ugh... you guys are hopeless." Joey facepalmed, shaking her head in disbelief as she tried to suppress a smile. "Whatever... that’s not my business..."
As the fair continued around them, Jake felt a newfound determination swell within him. He couldn't let this moment define him; he had to make things right. With a deep breath, he plotted his next move, ready to win you over, one awkward attempt at a time.
I really wanted to make Jake someone who tries too hard to get someone's attention, only making himself a pitiful sack of potatoes by the end of the ordeal. DONT WORRY he should be able to get the guy right ...right?!
hope you guys enjoyed it! please like, comment, or reblog~

genuine question because youre one of my favorite writers, you seem to really have a thorough grasp of the characters: what do you see in rafayel that makes him appealing? i try to get past his entitled brattiness because i really want to enjoy all of the guys, but i cant see anything else. please help me understand 🥲
Oh boy, baby, darling, sweetheart, you opened a can of worms. Come do a little bit of character analysis with me~
About Rafayel:
Rafayel is a brat, yes. But that means he wears his heart on his sleeve, outright when he needs your attention or sulking when something is bothering him or faking a dramatic accident to get your attention. There's no silent guessing or fake "I'm fine's," just his overdramatic, raw emotion that's easy to read. He's has anxious attachment stemming from hundreds of years of betrayal and loss.
Rafayel is a romantic, a yearner. And yes, while I also agree his attitude was annoying at first I am very unfortunately into people who get on my nerves, especially when they are flirty and funny as well. I folded during his hospital scene.
Entitled? He is a god. He has been trying and failing to save his entire civilization for over 800 years and still simply can't because he refuses to hurt the one he loves. While all the boys have been through pain there's something about Rafayel's story that really gets me. I think it’s because if I— as mc— knew the sacrifice he was making, I would give myself up. So to have someone selfish enough to place me first is heartbreaking, devoted, and cruel.
Also there are plenty of scenes where Rafayel is serious, especially if you read between the lines. The brattiness and sass is a playful cover to someone who's been through pain and understands it. Someone who chooses to still see joy and happiness in his life while fully understanding how cruel the world is.
Simply, I'm a sucker for doomed character archetypes. There is no version of Rafayel's and mc's story where they both end happy. Millions of people will die or if mc kills herself Rafayel will live forever as a husk of his former self. Using a sassy, filirty, bratty attitude to cover up such a genuinely depressing story is so juicy to me.
About Me:
I'm a Zayne irl. Work is honestly the most important thing to me outside my family, I'm devoted to my hobbies and leadership positions, and I have a close circle of friends I would do anything for. I'm also fucking hilarious subjective.
I'm the eldest sibling, the guard dog, the de-facto leader for almost everything. I'm the person who had to grow up fast, to parent my immigrant parents at times, who never made space for love, and who is by default independant and comfortable with it.
I prefer to listen-- I love my yapper friends. Don't get me wrong I can talk for hours about anything, but day to day I tend to get exhausted talking after a while so I surround myself with people who can do the easy talking for me.
My irl partner is a mix between Rafayel and Sylus I'd say. He's the one who pulls me out of my work spirals by nagging me until I give in, someone I'm comfortable yapping about my current hyperfixations too, someone who my inner child can come out to. But I also enjoy being a caregiver, that's always been my role and I relish in it, I like being relied upon as much as I appreciate having someone in my life that lets me take a step back. The only part that's Sylus is how his love language is bullying me and his vibe/looks lmao, but usually I am more into raf-stereotypical pretty boys.
So, overall, the appeal of Rafayel to those that choose him:
Rafayel is for the eldest daughters who needs their inner child to be free, who needs a little bit of ridiculousness and impulsiveness in their lives.
Rafayel is for those who never got praised for their effort or strength, for those who success was the only option, who had to be perfect, reliable and serious all the time. He makes it so clear how much simply being with you means to him, constantly complimenting, flirting, and reassuring you just how much he needs you. Showing you how obsessed with you he is.
Rafayel is for those who didn't think love had a place in their lives due to shit family or life circumstances. He proves time and time again that you're the only one he loves. Even though he's lived forever, you were worth the wait and that he would wait again for you, no matter how long it takes. He proves you can be loved, and that it comes easy.
Rafayel is for those who always placed others first. He's more than willing to show you again and again you will always be first in his mind. He needs you more than he does water. Sure, you can take care of him, but he wants to be with you and take care of you, too.
Rafayel is for those who need someone else to drag them out of work/school/spiralling even when they don't want to admit it, bringing in laughter, color, and a little bit of dramatics.
Rafayel is for creators who dedicate themselves to their craft, who are scared of losing this "spark," who want to get better but constantly feel that what they create isn't enough or must be more.
Rafayel is for hopeless romantics, those that go out of their way to surprise their friends during their birthdays, those who plan platonic dates for those they care about, those who put out so much love into the world and suddenly break when they get that love back.
Rafayel is for those used to having little siblings or those to take care of in our lives. Only while Rafayel relishes in the attention, he's also ready to give it back five-fold.
Rafayel is a switch for switch (brat for brat) lmao. He's for those who like to start on top, teasing and pushing his buttons to get all those cute reactions out of him, just until he breaks. Then he can take control and finish us up. We love vocal men.
Maybe projecting, but Rafayel is the perfect bi-girl's boyfriend. He's a classic pretty boy, unafraid to be in touch with his feminine side, a little dramatic, a little artsy. But he's also super romantic, sensitive, loving, and intense. And gosh, who could say no to those big puppy eyes?
I could probably continue to talk about Rafayel for hours, but ya, hopefully this helps answer why I and others love this man. Just continue on with the main story and read between the lines with his dialogue and I'm sure you'll pick up on it too~

warm scents and cold hands
lynn wilms x reader series
last chapter - next chapter
chapter four
two weeks later.. the walk to the restaurant was short but brisk, the cold air biting at your cheeks as you clutched your phone in one hand and your bag in the other.
you hadn’t anticipated how chilly wolfsburg nights could get, and your hoodie, as comfortable as it was, did little to shield you from the wind.
you mentally scolded yourself for prioritizing style over warmth, but it was too late now. at least your outfit was cute!
when you spotted the restaurant up ahead, its glowing sign casting a welcoming light on the sidewalk, a small smile tugged at your lips.
the idea of trying sushi for the first time had you excited. you weren’t sure what to expect, but sveindís and lynn had talked the place up so much throughout training earlier that you couldn’t help but feel a little eager.
stepping inside, the warm, savory scent of the restaurant immediately wrapped around you. it smelled like soy sauce, sesame, and something you couldn’t quite place but knew you’d enjoy. you scanned the room and spotted sveindís sitting at a table near the window, already scrolling through the menu.
“hey girlie!” she called out, waving as you made your way over.
“hey,” you greeted back, slipping into the seat across from her.
“have you been waiting long?”
she shook her head, setting the menu down.
“nope, just a few minutes. lynn’s on her way, though.”
you nodded, feeling the warmth of the restaurant starting to thaw your chilled skin.
“how was your national break?”
sveindís smiled, leaning back in her chair.
“it was good. busy, but good. those matches against denmark were tough, but it felt nice to be back with my team. how about you?”
“same, honestly,” you replied.
“it’s always refreshing to be back home, you know?”
she nodded in agreement, but there was a mischievous glint in her eye as she tilted her head at you.
“so... are you excited for tonight?”
you frowned slightly, unsure what she meant.
“yeah, i mean, i’ve never had sushi before, so i’m kind of excited to try it. why?”
before she could answer, the door to the restaurant opened, and a familiar figure stepped inside.
lynn.
you glanced over, and there she was, dressed casually yet effortlessly stylish in a hoodie and matching colored coat, her hair slightly tousled from the wind. she spotted you and sveindís almost immediately, a warm smile spreading across her face as she made her way over.
sveindís leaned toward you and whispered, “you’ll see what i mean.” then, she winked.
you blinked, confused, but before you could question her, lynn slid into the seat beside you. the slight brush of her shoulder against yours sent an unexpected warmth through you, and you found yourself suddenly hyper-aware of her proximity.
“sorry i’m late,” lynn said, pulling off her coat and draping it over the back of her chair.
“there was a bit of traffic.”
“you’re fine,” you assured her, your voice a little softer than you intended.
lynn turned to you then, her gaze lingering for a moment before she said, “you look beautiful.”
your cheeks flushed instantly, and you managed a quiet, “thank you.” your mind couldn’t help but note that she hadn’t said the same to sveindís, though you quickly pushed the thought aside.
the three of you settled into the evening, the conversation flowing easily. sveindís kept things light and fun, cracking jokes that had you and lynn laughing, while lynn chimed in with her own dry humor that only added to the easy vibe.
when the food arrived, you hesitated at first, unsure of what to try.
“here,” lynn said, using her chopsticks to point at one of the rolls on the platter. “start with this one. it’s a salmon roll…simple but good.”
you picked it up carefully, mimicking the way she held her chopsticks. your first bite was tentative, but as the flavors hit your tongue, your eyes widened slightly.
“oh, wow,” you said after swallowing.
“that’s actually really good.”
“see? told you,” lynn said with a small smirk.
“you’re officially a sushi girl now,” sveindís declared, grinning.
the rest of the dinner passed in a blur of laughter, warm conversation, and trying new dishes. the restaurant’s cozy atmosphere, combined with the delicious food and the company, made you forget all about the cold waiting for you outside.
when the three of you finally stepped out onto the sidewalk, the chill hit you immediately.
you shivered, pulling your hoodie tighter around yourself and rubbing your hands together in an attempt to generate some warmth.
“you okay?” lynn asked, her voice tinged with amusement as she noticed you practically vibrating from the cold.
“yeah, just... wasn’t thinking when i left the house,” you admitted, exhaling a visible puff of air.
“clearly,” sveindís teased, zipping up her coat.
“come on, let’s head to that clothing store down the block.”
the three of you began walking, the cold air biting at your exposed skin. as you reached the store, sveindís ducked inside immediately,
however, lynn stopped just outside, turning to you.
“wait,” she said, pulling off her gloves.
you shook your head quickly.
“lynn, no. it’s fine. i’ll survive.”
she raised an eyebrow, holding the gloves out toward you.
“your hands are freezing. just take them.”
“it’s my fault for not dressing properly,” you insisted, trying to wave her off.
lynn rolled her eyes, her tone teasing as she said, “don’t be stubborn, y/n. here.”
you hesitated, but before you could protest again, lynn grabbed your hands gently, her warm palms covering your frozen fingers. your breath hitched at the unexpected contact, and for a moment, all you could do was stare at her.
“see? freezing,” she said softly, her eyes meeting yours.
your cheeks burned, but before you could respond, she lifted one of your hands and pressed a light kiss to your knuckles. the warmth of her lips against your cold skin sent a jolt of something electric through you, and you bit your lip to keep from smiling too wide.
“all better,” she said with a smirk, sliding her gloves onto your hands herself. once they were on, she rubbed your gloved hands briefly, her touch lingering just long enough to make your heart race.
“thanks you,” you managed to say, your voice barely above a whisper.
“anytime,” lynn replied, her smirk softening into a genuine smile. she gave your hands one last squeeze before stepping back.
“now, let’s go before sveindís buys the whole store.”
as she turned to head inside, you stood frozen for a moment, still processing what had just happened.
your heart felt like it might burst out of your chest, and your mind replayed the feeling of her warm hands on yours, the press of her lips against your skin.
as you walked in the store, you realized something undeniable: you were falling for lynn wilms, and there was no stopping it now.

When people talk about Severus as a father, I notice that the same ideas tend to repeat. And while that’s entertaining, wouldn’t it be fun to explore other scenarios? To see how he would handle different situations?
Lately, I’ve been thinking—what if Severus’ son was that fun, laid-back guy who’s the crush of many girls? A total flirt, you know what I mean. One day, the boy tells his dad that he needs his help to drop out of school because he has to find a job as soon as possible. When Severus asks where he got such a ridiculous idea, his son just says, "You're going to be a grandfather. I got a girl from my class pregnant."
And Severus OMG 😭 At least his son is a responsible idiot... Does that count for something?
Oh no, but I’ve never imagined that if he had a son, he’d be some kind of Severus 2.0. Because for me, the only way Severus could be a father is in an AU where he survives—I just can’t picture him having a child before that, considering all the baggage he was carrying. Plus, I don’t see him as a single father; I imagine him with a partner.
So whenever I think about this, I picture a kid who’s very similar to his father in looks but raised in a decent environment, with family support and a normal childhood. That would mean he’d develop social skills and self-confidence. I totally see him as the kind of kid who could have multiple friends or even be popular.
I find it hilarious to imagine him as that typical teenager who tries to be all mysterious, reading super niche books and giving off that tormented intellectual soft boy vibe—someone who seems really smart because he knows a lot of random things but, deep down, is just another dumbass teenager trying to look interesting. And Severus losing his mind because his son didn’t end up emotionally crippled, but he did end up dumb as hell.
I can perfectly imagine him having a pregnancy scare with some girl who’s late, and Severus just facepalming, wondering why—after everything he’s suffered—the universe has decided to keep punishing him with such an idiot of a son LOL.

Kayce, she's just showed up, back off!
I thought you said it was only kissing but the way you write it I pictured her kissing something else than a mouth to me 👀 wait did she run from him without letting him know she knew what he did? Surely he must know now?
Yeah, why is he still wearing the ring?? So if she didn't show up he would have continued wearing it? 🧐
Girl your vagina is talking too loudly, calm down madam! You're less than a day here!
So not just kissing? Kayce you whore! How to explain this? Huh? Well you were horny and just went for it because you were selfish and stupid. Of yeah don't forget you were young 🙄.
I mean she might as well have stayed if she's going to fall for that so easily! Talked to him, forgiven him and started with him. Until the next mistake🥲
Vagina calm down! I know he's looking sad, and he has gorgeous long hair and a cute smile, but we're better than this! We don't listen to stupid hormones and make bad decisions for sad boys!
Sad boy, I fucked that man. I fucked him all over Texas! I'm here now talking to you, reminiscing him, okay? Is that what you want to know?
You got married, jeez dude the irony of jealousy here.
He's full of himself at least, around her!
On the other hand she's defending a relationship she's left, and moved back here to him, and she's doubting if she loved him now she's looking at Kayce again. He's probably is reading her like an open book.
The vagina isn't thinking clear, stop listening to his beautiful eyes! And his sad boy vibes, you came here to figure things out! (That confidence sure is sexy though)
Lol his dad "give her some time but tie that shit down"
Noooo is over, I wanted to continue reading🥲
I can just imagine him looking at me like that and saying all these things pretending to be cute, but we know he's a menace!
I was going to just comment shortly but alas I got caught up again 😮💨🤌🏻
Weight of My Sins, Part 1

“Stop fidgeting,” Rip’s gruff voice bellows in the truck, and you press your hands under your legs. Continuing to stare out your window. The closer you get to the ranch the worse the feeling in the pit of your stomach gets. This has got to be a bad idea, and nothing good can come of it. You need a job just as much as you need a place to stay. And Rip did you a solid in getting John to allow that for you. Under different circumstances this would be the perfect solution to your problem.
“You’re going to stay in the bunkhouse, so I’ll have to go over some ground rules with the wranglers,” you roll your eyes as you turn to look at him. Ever the protective big brother role. He isn’t your biological big brother. Just a man that felt sorry for you as a kid, and helped out when he could. You were his pet project. And one of the few people he was kinda nice to. Some things never change.
“I don’t want you fucking around with them. And believe me, they’re a bunch of lonely, horny cowboys.”
“Aww, but you’re not interested in me. Are you still lonely and horny?” He gives you an eat shit grin, shaking his head. You are not the least bit worried about the wranglers. They are the least of your worries. “What if this doesn’t work out?”
“Grow a pair of balls and make it work,” he shrugs as the ranch comes into view. Immediately your fingers start fidgeting under your thighs. So many memories remained here. Up until the point that you left for veterinary school. Anything to help out the ranch. That’s Rip’s philosophy, even if he won’t say it. Anything.
“Quit fidgeting!” He growls at you.
“I’m not!” You don’t want to admit that being here is turning your stomach inside out. Don’t want to admit what just seeing the last name Dutton does to you. Some things just are better left unexplored. Especially now that you’re going into his territory. His home.
Rip puts the truck into park, and you inhale slowly. Letting the fresh air fill your lungs before you slowly exhale. Popping your neck for good measure before you sling the door open, and jump out. Time seems to stand still here. Very little has changed, except your age. “Come on,” your adopted brother says, and you follow along with his long strides.
Slinging the door open, Rip drops your meager duffle bag on the floor, and every man in there turns to glare at you. Lloyd gives you a slight dip of his chin, “Welcome back, Bronc,” you nod to him. The others you don’t truly recognize.
“This here is like a little sister to me. You treat her with fucking respect, and you stay out of her damn pants,” clearing their throats they return to their card game, leaving you puffing out a nervous breath before giving Rip a head nod. “Yep. That’s it,” he says, turning on his heels, and leaving you in this den of bears.
“Which bunk is available?”
“One of those back ones,” Lloyd points in the direction without removing his eyes from his hand. You didn’t expect a grand welcome, but this is pathetic. Your eyes roam around each of the bunks. Examining the spaces, looking for anything familiar.
“He’s not here,” Lloyd answers, finally looking at you.
“Who?” the old man’s eyebrows lift, as he nods at you sarcastically. Judging asshole. You weren’t looking for anyone. You were trying to figure out how you fit in with these men. Reaching into your bag, you stuff a few peppermints into your pocket. You sling your duffle bag onto the bunk before turning to go towards the door, “I’m going out.”
“Uh huh,” Lloyd answers knowingly. You didn’t care what the man thought of you. You need to get out of this room. It’s stifling being in this bunkhouse. Hell, it’s stifling being here. With all these memories. But ones that you love so much. You miss it.
Sighing at your contradictory thoughts, you kick gravel as you walk to the barn. Getting away from humans, and joining animals. They were better than humans. They didn’t offer any words of wisdom, or judgement. They are just there. Lifting up a peppermint to one of them, he eats the treat off your hand, and you lean your head against his nose petting him.
“First night here, and you’re already spoiling my horse, Bronc,” you didn’t have to see him to know that voice. The one voice that makes you weak in the knees, and sick to your stomach all at the same time. The one voice that has stuck to you like a bad habit, and you seek comfort in it with every sylablle.
“Dutton,” you respond before starting to walk away. He steps in front of you, and you turn to walk the other direction, but he jumps in front of you again. His mouth turns up into that irresistible smile, and ‘it just makes you angry, and also makes you want to touch him. The conflicting emotions just don’t stop.
“Why are you feeding my horse treats?”
“Why are you hiding in the dark?” He shrugs. A cute smile creeps onto his face, and you bashfully look away as heat flares your cheeks, “Did you follow me out here?”
“No, I didn’t know you were going to be here. Why are you here?”
Somehow him not knowing you are going to be living here floods you with relief. “This baby wanted a little treat, and I doubt you were giving him anything.”
“You’ve not changed,” smiling, you let your eyes coast down his body, freezing at an ugly ring on his finger, and your blood turns cold. Why is he even here giving you any ounce of hope? He notices where your sight is, and hides his hand, but it’s too late. Everything from that last night boils in your chest.
“But you’ve changed,” you try to smile, and it just hurts. You didn’t expect Kayce to not have a life and live it, but moving on with a wife is not what you expected.
“It’s complicated,” is the only thing he says as he stuffs his hands in his pocket.
“It always is with you, Dutton,” you respond, starting to walk away. This time he doesn’t follow. You can almost see him standing there with his pretty puppy eyes.
“We’re separated,” you stop in your tracks, but don’t turn around. Saying something like that is almost a death sentence. Separated did not mean they weren’t going to get back together. It could mean they needed space. And you weren’t going to be the space he filled. You sigh, turning to look at him.
“Mmm, I don’t know if that’s good enough, Kayce,” his smile doesn’t falter. You used his first name. Using that name is so much warmer than using Dutton. When you bring out the last name, he knows you’re slightly annoyed.
Walking up to you, his calloused fingers brush over your cheeks, and he pulls you in for a familiar embrace. Caressing your back as he brings you too close. Like your bodies were made to meld together.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish,” you respond, pushing out of his hold and you turn to give the horse a kiss.
Your body is on fire. Trembling as you take a step back from him. His scent of sunshine and leather blinds you. The want for him is almost too strong. “What do you want?”
He grunts, “You,” but you shake your head no. Everything is always so damn complicated with him. “We are separated.”
“And yet, you’re still married.”
“Do you think that if I was happily married I’d be out here after midnight? I’ve moved back to the ranch, and we rarely talk, unless it has to do with,” his voice goes softer, and your eyes slowly close, “My son,” the twisting of that knife hurts so much worse than hearing he’s married. “I never meant to hurt you.”
“Yeah. And I can imagine how it is with you. You come here to be separated, and somehow you end up feeling sorry for yourself, and lonely, and then you're driving out wherever, and right back into her arms to play house. Is that how it goes?”
“Not exactly.”
“Why is it different now?” There’s no answer that he could give you that would make you feel better. You’re left feeling like a junkie, and your drug of choice is Kayce John Dutton. Always was. Probably always will be.
“Because of you.”
“Oh, no. I just got here, and you don’t get to come here with your pretty words when I’m trying to do a damn job. You and your cute ass need to keep things professional. I don’t need this Kayce. It’s my first night.”
“So you don’t hate me?” You could never truly hate Kayce. You could have your heart broken by him. Again. But you’ve never hated him.
“No, but I’m also not fucking you,” he chuckles as you walk backwards, and out of the barn.
“Again!” He yells, too loud, and you hope that no one hears the two of you out here alone. You didn’t need any rumors going around about how you were fucking him in the barn on the first night.
“It was a mistake,” you wink at him. Lying in this instance is a way to protect you. There’s nothing that you regret with Kayce. Not on your end.
“And why was it a mistake?”
“Premature ejaculation,” he looks down at his feet, as he toes the ground, “Due to the fact that neither of us knew what we were doing. But it sure did get us into a lot of trouble, huh? Have a good evening, Dutton.”
“That wasn’t nice,” he peeks up at you, smiling anyways.
“Nice? Was it nice that I saw you with some girl in our spot? You sure were curled up, and enjoying her with your mouth. Was that nice?”
“Wait…” you have to rip the bandaid, and let him know that you knew what he was doing. You should have confronted him then. Maybe you could have truly moved on and healed. Maybe you wouldn’t have longed for Montana, and those pretty brown eyes still.
You shake your head, because you need space from him. He is crowding your thoughts, and your vagina. If you didn’t get away, you’d be rolling around in the hay with him. “I get we were teenagers. Too young to be fucking. And too stupid to remain faithful.
“So I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Like we have a choice,” he stands there smiling. Not fully defeated by your words. You weren’t bending to his words and charm, but you also weren’t refusing to talk to him. “Don’t wear the ring.”
“Whatever you say, Bronc,” you wouldn’t forgive him if he kept showing up with that ugly thing. It pains you to know that he went off and married someone and had a child with someone that wasn’t you, and you couldn’t blame him either. He’d moved on, and in so many ways you haven’t.
You hope you don’t regret this decision to be here. Hope that Kayce doesn’t infect your mind, and heart in the way he’s always done. Knowing that he’s married, even if separated, helps. And he has a kid. Time didn’t change your feelings because you still ache for him.
Separated.
What did that even mean? How did he define that word?
How long has he been separated? Were his sweet words anything more than that? Would he return to his wife? He has a kid with her, so it’s not like he can just walk away easily. Unless he already has. But how can you be sure that this is it? It’s the end and he’s never going to be with her again? And if he was sure, why not going through a divorce?
No. You’re here to do a job, and doing a job is what you’re going to do. You want to be treated just like everyone else on this damn ranch. You weren’t going to become a love sick puppy for him. You’re going to enjoy the Montana air. The view here. And finally doing something with your life. And for you.
“Bronc and I are going to take the back,” Kayce smiles at Rip, and the older man’s eyes narrow at him.
“Why?” he asks, giving you a quick look as you saddle up a horse, ignoring the conversation. You’ll go where you’re told. “Why are you bringing up the rear, and why is she even coming out with us?”
“Because if something happens, we have a licensed vet right with us. She’s bringing up the rear because she’s never gone out with us before, and this will give her a chance to learn.”
Rip places his hands on his hips, gazing out to the sunrise, sighing, “I’m still not sure why you’re with her. Put Jimmy in the rear with her, and — why the hell are you shaking your head at me?”
“She doesn’t know Jimmy.”
“And yet she sleeps in the bunkhouse with him,” Kayce clears his throat, and only because the last place that he wants you to be is with Jimmy. “What the fuck is your problem?”
“Bronc and I are taking the rear. Jimmy’s got flank. Is the bunkhouse really the best place for her to be?”
“Hell, Kayce, she’s not going to learn anything by getting special treatment,” you aren’t getting special treatment from him. He just wants to make sure you stay comfortable, and be with him. He needs more time to talk to you. “Fine,” Rip growls, getting on his horse. “She’s your responsibility then.”
“I’ll try to keep her out of trouble.”
Rip turns his horse around and heads towards the front, “Bronc, you're with Kayce in the back,” you sigh, climbing onto the horse. Kayce gives you a wink as he climbs on his own, and waits for you.
“You’re not subtle, you know?” He shrugs, and you can’t help but take a peek at his hand. The ring thankfully is gone. He kept his word. And while it does ease your stomach, there’s still a part of you that knows that still isn't enough. It’s easy to not wear a ring in private. It’s easy to pretend it doesn’t mean a thing, but it does. It should.
“Are you planning on making sure we’re always together?” He shrugs again. He’s the one that wanted you in the rear with him, and now he’s not talking. But maybe you’re just not asking the right questions. “So how have you been?”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m better now,” you scoff, keeping your eyes on the cattle. “What? Is my response not satisfactory? Remember you left Montana.”
“And you had your hands in some other girl's pants.”
He winces, sucking air through his teeth, “Are you ever going to let me explain, so I can maybe get your forgiveness? I told you I was stupid?”
“Are you ever going to do it again?”
“Are you ever going to go on a date with me?”
“Not anytime soon,” you click your tongue, and tap your heels on the horse. Speeding up a bit more, but he keeps his pace with you. “Things can’t go back to how they were,” you wonder if he thought any relationship can return to how they were before, or if you’re just the lucky one. Did he still carry a torch for you, like you did him?
“So no more sneaking off into my room, doing things we were too young to be doing?” Him and his stupid little smile get you every time. Not to mention the passion you always felt with Kayce. You were never going through the motions, you loved every moment with him. Even your fights that quickly were resolved, and you went on loving each other anyways, and loving harder.
“Why did you leave?” His voice darkens, and he turns his face away from you.
“I needed air,” he nods, understanding. You needed to get away from him. “Why did you do it?”
“Kiss someone that wasn’t my girlfriend?”
“You weren’t just kissing.”
“Yeah, that’s all we did,” you shake your head no. That is not what she implied happened. And just kissing is enough anyways. “It was stupid. And I quickly realized that she wasn’t you, and did I say that I was stupid?”
“You did,” you look over towards him, smiling, “But you can keep saying it,” a comfortable silence settles between the two of you, and you breathe in the fresh mountain air. Realizing all the reasons that you missed Montana, but also the Yellowstone. Things are peaceful in their way, of course, but there’s just this home feeling here.
“Did you miss it?”
“Do you mean did I miss you?” You turn to peek towards Kayce, and he chuckles, shaking his head.
“I asked if you missed it as in this?”
“Every day,” you enjoyed school, and you would do it all over again for the experience, and to say you have a skill. You did miss some of the people, and now that you’re here you miss some of the people in Texas. One of the people.
“What did — did you — I mean,” he clears his throat. Looking up to the clear blue sky, before back over towards you. You already know exactly what he’s struggling to ask, and it’s due to the fact he doesn’t really want to know. “How was Texas?”
“You want to ask me the real question?” sometimes it’s best to just know the truth, and lay it all out there. Even if you’re scared to know the answer. You can learn ways to cope or just get over it.
Kayce sniffs deeply, and tilts his head to the side in thought, “Did you meet anyone there?” Not the right question. He’s such a coward.
“Cowboy up, Kayce. You can do better than that if you really want to know. Just ask me like a man.”
“Are you dating anyone?”
“No.”
“Did you?”
“Was that so hard?” Surprisingly he nods his head. He can respond but just asking was like pulling teeth, and it kinda gave you a bit of a confidence boost. “I did. Was. I was dating someone. It was pretty serious, but he wanted to stay in Texas, and I wanted to be back here. We split amicably, and I packed up my stuff, moved out, and now I’m back here.”
“What was he like?” His jaw flexes when he asks. He doesn’t truly want to know what he is like, but you’re going to tell him anyway. Kayce always had a possessive streak. It never reached toxic heights, thankfully.
“He’s a mechanic. Older than me. He’s a good guy. He didn’t have much growing up, but he made something of himself, despite his setbacks,” Kayce just nods his head, refusing to look at you. You like seeing him squirm a bit. Not that you’re into comparing, but you didn’t have a child with him, nor were you married. “I think you’d like him.”
“Not likely.”
“He played football.”
“Definitely wouldn’t like him then. Let me guess, he’s just a regular ole pretty boy that treated you okay, but it wasn’t great? Maybe borderline annoyed you?”
“He’s a good guy. We were getting to a more steady part of our relationship. It wasn’t too exciting. And we never fought,” Kayce snorts, causing you to look towards him. “We didn’t.”
“Sounds like there was no passion.”
“You mean it doesn’t sound like us?”
“We’re adults now, Bronc. We’re not going to act like two lovestruck teenagers anymore. We were figuring ourselves out. We didn’t know the meaning of compromising. Now we’re grown,” no, you weren’t teenagers anymore. He’d definitely grown. At times you and Kayce just didn’t want to see eye to eye. There was absolutely no compromising in your relationship. So him admitting that makes you feel happy. You left something steady, albeit boring at times, because the two of you couldn’t compromise on where to live. He wasn’t leaving Texas, and you wanted to be in Montana.
“So just how boring was this guy?”
“Tell me about your son,” you counter. Kayce smirks while looking up ahead to the herd. You aren’t supposed to go out with them often, but you wanted to see the land again. “How old?”
“He’s eight.”
“You didn’t waste any time did you?”
“He wasn’t planned, and I was distraught. I don’t regret him though. He’s perfect. Reminds me of myself.”
“Did you love her?” He goes silent. His puppy dog eyes scan over everything as he contemplates. “I think I loved him,” Kayce turns to look at you, his smile now returning. “What?”
“Did you ever tell him?”
“Yes.”
“So did you lie?” It’s an odd thing to say, really. It shouldn’t be hard for you to admit that yes you loved him or no you didn’t. It felt right at the time but hindsight is always twenty twenty. Now, you’re unsure just how you felt about him, “So what you mean is you didn’t love him like you loved me?”
“No,” definitely not what you meant. Right? All those years weren’t a lie. You had fun. You enjoyed yourself. You loved, and felt loved, and — so easily left it for here. And Kayce. “I didn’t say that.”
“You didn’t have to,” he looks towards you, slowing his horse down, but your mind is racing too much to try and look at him. You need space again, and yet have to stay. You want to run, but towards him or away from him? You knew that the forever there complicated feelings towards Kayce would return the moment you saw him, but you weren’t prepared for this. And if you left again, those feelings would remain. Eventually you’ll have to explore those feelings.
Questioning your relationship was not something you had planned. You loved him, but could live without him. It’s why you chose to come here. Back home. And to him. So why is it so hard to admit that out loud, and to Kayce. Why does this man crowd your brain space, and make you question every decision you’ve ever made.
The only reason you left Montana was to get space from him. You needed to breathe and make sense out of everything going on. And to find yourself without him in it. Without anyone in your life. To know you could do it. Kayce was supposed to give you time to figure this out. You could have a life out of this bubble.
This beautiful, amazing bubble.
“Why did you come back?”
“This is the place that has always felt like home.”
“Because it’s where I’m at,” he sure is cocky. Brazenly full of himself. Part of this being home is him. But that doesn’t mean that you are referring to him as home. It means… “You can deny it all you want, but…”
Kayce clicks his tongue, and starts a faster gallop, leaving you contemplating what he said. It’s what he does. He weasels into your brain, and makes you think and question things. And then he finds himself in your pants, and then in your heart. But that isn’t the concerning thing, the concerning part is not fully knowing if he is correct. And do you want him there?
“You know what I always liked about that girl?” Kayce looks up at his dad, confusion laced in his eyes. “She never tried to change you.”
“Who?”
“Oh, are you still denying that you had a thing with Rip’s little orphan project?” Instead of responding, his son takes another bite of food. The two of you weren’t exactly quiet about your feelings for one another, but you also didn’t parade it around. “I see. So she comes back to town, being hired on as a personal vet or wrangler, I can’t keep up. And the first thing she does is go on the trail with you, and rides right beside you? Okay.”
John eats a piece of meat, smiling at his son who still says nothing. “You speak more when she’s around.”
“Are we going to talk about Bronc this whole dinner?”
“Still got that same nickname for her. How do you feel about her sharing a bunkhouse with a bunch of men?” Kayce despises it. Hates even thinking about someone getting too close to you. He’d offer for you to stay with him, but you’d immediately jump to conclusions. You could sleep where you wanted to, but he did have an extra room. “I see. Must make you sick to think about all those cowboys around fresh meat. We know Bronc can take care of herself. But she did just get out of a relationship because he didn’t want to take things to the next step.”
“He didn’t want to move to Montana.”
“Where she wanted to get married, and settle down with him,” John shrugs as he wipes his mouth with his napkin. “She’s quite vulnerable. Don’t push her, but don’t have her too far away from you,” he nods as he pushes his chair back from the table. “You should offer her some of the food Gator made. I’m sure it’s better than whatever microwave food she’s got there.”
—
There is a lot of freedom being here. However, the food sucks. You’ll have to remedy that soon. Sitting out on the porch, you kick up your feet, and inhale deeply. Letting the mountains absorb your problems. Hope that they will, so you have some clarity.
Even with everyone in the bunkhouse carrying on and playing a game of poker, you feel relaxed. Today felt good. You didn’t exactly know what your job here would entail; maybe you’d need to travel to some other ranches and tend to their animals. But tonight, it’s just you. And the annoying music coming from somewhere.
You won’t let it bother you.
You don’t care if it’s annoying ‘country’ music. What even is that shit? Nope. It won’t bother you. You’ll just sit and eat your microwave Mac and cheese, and ignore whatever is going on over there. This is your bubble. Your safe space. You are calm and collected. Not annoyed at all.
That music is just very obnoxious, and you swear it’s getting louder. You could ask them to be quiet. You don’t even know whose cabin it is. Someone that works here, obviously. But it’s like they're purposefully trying to get under your skin.
You sigh as you stand up stretching. Going inside the bunkhouse would involve you trying to ignore the wranglers. While not impossible, you’re now more curious as to who is being obnoxious. It won’t hurt to go check it out.
Making sure to throw your garbage away, you start to head towards the door, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Lloyd calls after you, but you don’t listen. Don’t even turn around. You have some exploring to do.
You have to know. Need to know who it is. You don’t have far to walk judging by the sound. It’s close. Far enough away from the bunkhouse for some privacy. There’s nobody here that would hurt you. There could be other things that could be dangerous.
“What are you doing out alone?!” You spin around, and hit him due to your veins coursing with adrenaline. “Ow, you still got an arm on you,” Kayce winces, rubbing his arm.
“Why the fuck are you sneaking up on me in the middle of the night?” Whisper screaming as you hit him again. “What is wrong with you, and what is the deal with this shitty music?”
“So the music worked?” You stare at him dumbfounded, trying to figure out what he’s meaning. “It got you over here, didn’t it?”
“You ass, Kayce Dutton. I was minding my business, eating dinner, and looking at the stars.”
“Your dinner wasn’t good enough,” you have to look away when he licks his lips. Causing every fiber in your body to heat up. Being with him alone in the dark is a sure fire way to get you in trouble. You’re resisting the urge. You could fall for Kayce again, just not tonight.
“Yeah, and what are you going to do about it?”
“I brought a plate from the lodge,” bare minimum. Don’t fall for this. This is barely anything. You want him to work if he wants to get you back. And you know you shouldn’t rush into anything serious. With Kayce it will be serious. “I can heat it up. We can dance, talk, watch a movie, sit out here?” he smiles sheepishly, shrugging his shoulders.
“We’re not dancing to this shit.”
“Of course not.”
“And I don’t think dancing is something we should do,” he nods his head yes, agreeing to that. “We can sit out and stare at the stars, and I’m going back to the bunkhouse.”
“I have an extra bed.”
“But I won’t stay in it.”
“Why’s that?” Kayce steps too close to you, invading your bubble, and it’s hard to breathe. Be strong. Do not fall for this. If you want to be with Kayce the wait will be worth it. You want to be able to give you and him the best possible chance. Start from the beginning.
“Because I am weak when it comes to you, and I don’t want to be. So my happy little ass will walk right back to that bunkhouse, and I’m going to sleep there. And tomorrow is a new day, and you’re going to stop flirting so hard.”
“I can try and do that,” his hand brushes away the baby hairs off your forehead, and you fight not to lean into him. Glancing down to his left hand, you count this small moment as a win.
“Thank you,” you whisper to him before spinning around, and walking towards the cabin.
“Why?”
“If I have to tell you it doesn’t have the same gravity,” he smiles serenely before jumping in front of you to open the door. He’s had that ugly ring off twice now. It’s a small thing that should not mean much, and yet it does. You just hope that he keeps it off. Because you can’t handle another heartbreak like that.

oh my god your blog theme is so beautiful it’s giving temptation 🥰🥰
I follow your bnd acc and I love love love the way you write them! And I see you write for &team which is great since not many people do 😭
So I was wondering, if you take requests, how do you think Nicholas would deal with coming home to you after a long day of practice? I see him as a switch so in I think in this case he would let you take control and make him feel good but I ask for you to expand on this idea!
If you don’t take requests that’s fine too, I’ll be supporting your future works 🫶🏽
EEEEEK nonnie tysm for your sweet compliments!! 🥰 i'm so happy you're happy with my work!!! 🤧🤭 also i definitely did use txt’s temptation concept as inspo hehe. and i do take requests, yes yes! i LOVE this idea when i saw it i squealed n giggled… kicking my feet, twirling my hair, etc. but anyway let’s just get into it. hope you enjoy! <3
warnings: smut, mdni!, switch!nicholas but really only focuses on him as a sub in this scenario, just some thoughts not a full fic, afab!reader but no pnouns used, praise, oral (reader receiving), edging (idol receiving)
wc: 550
nicholas gives me switch vibes too! sometimes domming is too much work, so he just wants to be subby for you. :( in any case, he loves things to be taken slow. i think he’d be a pretty romantic guy in the sense that for him, sex is more than just the physicality. it’s about the emotions as well.
when nicholas comes home to you after a tiring day of practice, all he wants is to be coddled. this man lives for giving you compliments, and also receiving them from you. when you run your fingers through his hair with his head on your lap, telling him about how proud he makes you, he immediately goes into a subspace.
nicholas has a tendency to get overstimulated after a long day–who wouldn’t?--and his best way to cope with that is via sex. there’s something about combating a negative overstimulating environment with a positive overstimulating one that has him hooked. even if he’s had a long, tiring day, he’s still got enough energy to last him for a couple of hours.
he loves to eat you out on days like that. he loves it when you’re a bit rough and needy about it too–bucking your hips into his face as he desperately tries to keep up a rhythm. he eventually gives up though, instead just allowing you to use his face.
he also likes to bury his face in between your boobs. it’s both comforting and so hot to him. he loves marking up your skin too while looking up at you with adoration as you ride his cock.
i think he’d be a soft sub, not very bratty. especially when he’s tired–he’d rather direct his energy toward making you, and therefore him, feel good. he loves putting a lot of care into making you feel good because sometimes he feels like he could just cum from the sound of your moans alone.
he does appreciate being told what to do, but he would be a bit whiny if you told him to not touch you. nicholas loves to always have his hands on you–whether it’s holding your hand or fondling your boobs. i think that’s the only time he would be “bratty.” he knows that he’s sexy, though, so he knows that even if you try to be more strict during sex, you’ll probably fold for him.
extra thoughts:
he wouldn’t mind edging–especially if it means he can still touch you.
he would prefer, whether he’s dom or sub for the evening, to light some candles and turn on music to make things even more romantic.
he is desperate when it comes to making you cum. he prefers for you to cum before him, maybe even twice or three times.
he’s big on power imbalances, so i think he’d always like things as either he’s dom and you’re sub or he’s sub and you’re dom. sometimes the positions may switch during sex, but they’re still present nonetheless.
speaking of positions… i think he’d love trying different ones. one position i think he’d really like is when making out, having you straddle his lap while on your knees, hovering above him. he’s really tall, so he kind of likes it when things are flipped and he’s the one looking up at you.

Two of Hearts (Declan x Reader)
Pairing: Declan x fem!reader
Word count: 7K (I've never written anything this long brace yourselves)
Genre: Mutual pining, enemies to lovers kinda vibes, smut in the end(that was the whole point), hella cliche
Warnings: Some bad words here and there, sexual themes obviously, fingering, handjob, unprotected sex, exhibitionism (I should be locked away), english not being my first language, me rarely using a full stop
Summary: You and Declan are sent on a trip to Como in Italy to attend an award ceremony. After a series of events you end up revealing your feelings for each other.
A/N: I totally did not get this idea as soon as I read that Aidan got secretly married to Caitlin in Italy (somebody lobotomise me). I should mention that I'm not following the timeline of the series, I mixed things up, good luck with that. Also play along with me and pretend it's normal for the british tv awards to be taking place in Italy, alright? This fic took an unnecessary long amount of time during which I was hopelessly sitting in front of a blank white screen with a blinking cursor every single day for 2 weeks. It took every bit of sanity left in me, I was contantly going between "this is so good" and "this is the crappiest shit to ever be written" . Still leaning towards that secong option but, I shall end my yapping here and let you read.
"You're going to Italy with Declan next week." Tony Baddingham casually told you after calling you to his office.
"What? Why?!" there was nothing in Tony's expression that indicated there was any space for negotiation or a way out of this, but these questions involuntarily came out your mouth with a clear protesting tone.
"British Television Awards, special edition taking place in Como this year. Declan has won an award and I can't send him alone, there needs to be some sort of representation from Corinium. And before you open that pretty little mouth of yours again, neither me nor Cameron can go because there are some issues that need to be settled, regarding the next season of Four Men Went To Mow." Tony finished that last sentence with a roll of his eyes. He obviously would have preferred a nice trip to Italy and a chance to show off his power and success infront of all the other producers and station owners that would be attending. Four Men Went To Mow was all Corinium had without Declan, so he had to make sure everything was arranged for its next season.
"I see..." you slowly nodded with a smile that wasn't really hiding your annoyance and turned around to exit Tony's office, barely catching a glimpse of him winking at you with that smug face of his before ligthing a cigar.
You've been working with Tony for a long time at Corinium, you were used to his 'manners' and how much of an authoritarian he was. That didn't mean he wasn't driving you mad, you just had found your ways of putting up with him. That had changed, however, when Declan O'Hara, the ruthless, irish journalist joined Corinum's picture. You had been assinged as his personal assistant, much to his dismay because, like he'd said: 'he does his own research'. Nevertheless, he did need someone to keep him a bit organised and Tony insisted you reported to him about any ongoing research because Declan tended to get quite uncooporative at times. So now, not only did you have to put up with a dictator of a boss, but also this arrogant, excessively proud workaholic you were supposed to be 'assisting'.
"What's wrong?" Declan asked upon seeing you storming in his office after exiting Tony's.
"Nothing." you tried to sound unbothered as you reached for some papers in hopes of distracting yourself. It wasn't really working.
"Oh I know better than to believe a woman answering this question with 'nothing' while she's looking clearly bothered by something." he replied with an amused tone while crossing his arms, accent thick and textured like crystallized honey, making you huff in annoyance.
"Did you know Tony is sending us to Italy next week?" you turned to him.
"Yes, somebody has to go and get that award. And see the look on the faces of all these idiots that never appreciated me." that smirk on Declan's lips was doing things to you. Things you were sure would send you straight to hell if one was to know of them.
"It doesn't sound like you really need me in any of this, though. Or do you think the award will be a bit too heavy for you to hold it all by yourself?" it was your turn to sound smug and the subtle laugh you earned from Declan felt like a reward.
"It's better for the station's image to not just send me there alone and I'm sure Tony explained how he can't send anyone else right now. Besides..." he paused and took a few steps until he was directly in front of you. "I want you there." he locked eyes with you causing your gaze to quickly shift to some other spot around you. "You're part of this show, you worked for this award too." your eyes met his again and you could really see sincerity in them. It felt like this was the first time he was genuinely recognising your work. Always too proud to let a single compliment about your contribution slip past his lips. Was he resorting to simple flattery for the purpose of the trip, you wondered.
"Could you at least tell me you'll be a bit less of a pain in the arse during those 3 days that we're going to be there?" it wasn't unusual for you to express how irritating Declan could get every now and then and you were sure not giving in to any potential tricks of his just yet.
"You know I can never promise such thing, sweetheart." there came that sinful smirk again as he patted the side of your arm before taking a step back and walking to exit the room.
There was no denying you had caught feelings for Declan over time, but you kept trying to find a way to persuade yourself that it was just a stupid phase. None of this was right. He was technically your boss, married even though his wife had just left him, with 3 children and quite older than you. You never had a chance with him and you never even should. You had it all under control up until then, partially hiding behind you constantly being cross with him. But only god knew how you kept longing to feel his toned back and shoulders under your touch, or taste his lips on yours. No, this was so wrong and just a phase, you constantly lied to yourself. A business trip with just the two of you alone, however, could easily reveal the truth and that was the actual reason why it was making you so nervous. As much as you'd wanted to let Declan know how you felt instead of letting it eat you away you dreaded the possibility of making things awkward between the two of you.
-
"You don't mind me sleeping through the entire ride, do you?" you were up on basically no sleep at an ungodly hour in the morning before the sun was even up, for a 2 hour drive to London to catch your flight to Milan. From there you'd be taking the train to Como for about an hour. 'Why did the British Television Awards had to take place in Italy?!' you kept thinking to yourself, your eyes barely able to stay open and then remembered Tony babbling something about it being a special anniversary edition or whatever this year.
"Of course not, but don't expect me to not do the same as soon as we're on that plane." Declan chuckled softly. He was relieved that the circumstances of your trip were such, that allowed, required even, either one or both of you to doze off during most times. He didn't want to make it awkward between the two of you now that you weren't sitting together for work. And he hated to admit it, but he was glad you'd be sleeping while he was driving, because he could easily steal glances at you without getting caught. He liked you, there was no denying that he did, but this felt so new to him and he feared it all might just be some sort of weird reaction to the fact that Maud had left him, sinking in. All these years married and he'd never even thought about looking at another woman, the way his wife did at another man. But now you had come in the picture and Maud had made her exit and it felt so different. You were different, you intrigued him, excited him. The way you carried yourself, the way you opposed him. It wasn't in the way Maud did, because she never liked him for what he truly was, she just wanted attention, whereas you understood Declan. Your 'insults' were innocent, just there to remind him when he was crossing the line and he knew that. What he didn't know was if there was any chance you saw him the way he saw you.
-
"Just a quick question, what do you find more appaling in this situation, me or Italy?" he turned to you with a playfull tone after you'd found your seats on the plane.
"You of course." you joked causing both of you to laugh. "Don't mind me, really, it was just the way Tony announced it, nothing else." you assured him before going back to whatever book you had picked to keep you distracted, surprised that for once you were thankful for Tony's actions upon realising that he'd booked business class seats, which granted space in-between you two. There was no way you could stay sane with Declan being any closer to you than he already was.
The remaining part of this long trip continued in equal silence. You'd only exchanged a few words on how magnificent the green scenery that occupied hundreds of kilometers outside the train window was, or on some new information about whatever research was currently in progress for the next show. And after what seemed like an eternity, in the late afternoon, you had finally arrived at the hotel you'd be staying for the next 2 days.
-
"Would you like to join me for dinner later? I'm sure we can find a nice restaurant nearby." his all too familiar voice stopped you before you opened the door to your room right next to his. Oh how he wished he could openly ask you out, reveal his true feelings for you, now that you were away from all the familiar faces. Instead he had to make do with this question and hopes you'd accept.
"I don't think Declan O'Hara, almost officially divorced, should be spotted having dinner with his assistant alone in some restaurant in Como, don't you think?" as much as you wanted this, you had to put your reputations above it. You might be away from the closed society of Rutshire, but Declan was still somewhat of a public figure and was expected to be here for the awards. You couldn't afford seeing your names on the front pages of tabloids, or be the one having to deal with Tony's rage if that were to happen. He gave you this job because he knew you were the one who could stop Declan from acting on impulse and that's what you were determined to do. Besides, it helped keep your irrational thoughts at bay too. "You can go alone on this, I'll probably just order room service, I'm quite tired anyway."
"Then, I'll order room service too and we can sit on my balcony. I've been told the view is exquisite." he saw you preparing to protest and was quick to continue "Come on, love, we can't act like total strangers until we get back. You got dragged here because of me, let me try to at least make it even a bit enjoyable."
Hearing the nickname 'love' fall from his lips had your knees feeling weak. He called you things like 'love', 'darling' or 'sweatheart' every so often and it was the way he seemed to use these words so naturally with you that had you melting. "Only because you're asking me so nicely." your expression softened. "Anything along the lines of meat, salad or pasta would be perfect. But make sure there's wine." because not in a million years could you handle dinner with Declan sober. "And I'll be over in a minute." were your last words as you dissapeared behind your door leaving Declan in the hallway, before he had a chance to say another word.
Alone in your room, you couldn't help the shy smile that found its way to your lips as you let out a deep breath. You had to compose yourself, it was just dinner on a business trip. Declan seemed to mirror you with one of his signature smirks at the thought of getting to spent some private time with you outside the context of work. Last time he had gotten anything close to that was months ago at the NYE party at his house, where practically the whole of Rutshire was invited and he couldn't recall saying anything more to you than a 'hello' , 'happy new year' and 'goodbye". Did he even see you when you left? He couldn't say for sure. Of course there where times when he was tempted to invite you over to the priory. To have you finishing up work at his study and things escalating to... well, other things, but he knew how irresponsible that was, with Taggie and Maud potentially a few walls away. How it would probably make you believe he was a pervert.
-
"So, ready for the big day tomorrow?" you asked in an attempt to keep some sort of conversation going and avoid the thick awkward silence that kept threatening to fall. Your eyes followed the red wine in the glass you were placing back down on the table, as the sun was setting behind the green mountains surrounding the lake, painting it in hues of orange. The early September breeze setting the perfect temperature for open-air dining. If anyone were to see you and Declan sitting on that balcony, they would, without a doubt, assume you were a couple sharing a romantic dinner quite possibly on their honeymoon too. But the truth was far from anyone's assumptions.
"There isn't much to be prepared for anyway." Declan said nonchalantly before taking another bite off his plate.
"Well, do you know what you are going to say? Won't you get nervous in front of all these people?" your eyes met with his.
"I'll tell them how pleased and thankful I am for the award, I won't forget to mention Corinium and I think I'll be just fine." seeing you nod, he proceeded to add the one thing that was actually making him nervous "And I want you up there with me." his doe eyes had yours widening in surprise.
"What, me? Why?" as much as you were surprised there was no doubt you found this quite flattering.
"Because, like I've told you before, this award belongs to you too and you didn't come all this way just to sit there and watch me take all the credit, did you?" was he compromising his image by choosing to have you on stage with him so soon after his wife had left him? He didn't care. Besides, you were representing Corinium and your contribution to his show was undeniable.
"Who am I to say no to you, I guess?" two glasses of wine in and rather tired, you smiled in defeat. If only you could stop resisting him in other ways too. Him taking you right on that balcony for any prying eyes to see that he was yours, would have been a true delight. It was moments like this, that you realised you were capable of surprising your own self with such wild thoughts. Luckily, they where soon cut short by the one man conquering them.
"Speaking of which, I have something else I've been meaning to tell you." he was hesitant. Why? Had he spoken to Tony about firing you? That would explain why he kept mentioning how much he appreciated your work. "I want to leave Corinium and bid for the franchise with a team of my own." you didn't say anything, unsure of what that meant for you and your job. "I was hoping you'd be part of it." he chose his next words carefully.
"Y-you're asking me to go against Tony and risk losing my job and any chance of even getting another one?" your blood run cold just thinking about such thing.
"I'm asking you, to help me go against Tony and possibly make televison history. I've got Rupert Campbell-Black on this, we stand a great chance if we work smart." he kept his voice low, forearms on the table as he leaned in closer giving you a stern look. He was definitely serious about this.
"A 'possibly' and 'a great chance' are not enough for me to put my future at stake. If Tony finds out I helped you out with this and then your little venture fails, I'm done. He will make sure I never find a job again, ever." you stressed that last word. Getting fired suddenly sounded a lot less terrifying than Declan's proposal.
"Why do you always have to bend to his will? Can't you see this is your chance to finally leave that bastard?" he raised his voice and huffed in annoyance, unable to undertsand your obsession with being so loyal to Tony.
"Because, that bastard is the one giving me this job which is mainly to deter you from making stupid decisions and keep things running smoothly." you fired back.
"Sounds more like your job is to do anything he asks you to, to keep him pleased. I wouldn't be surprised if he had you bent over his desk every other night." as soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted them. The pain in your eyes violently brought him back to his senses. He should have never said that, but the thought of that brute having his way with you just for fun was torturing his mind. He wanted to take you as far away from him as possible, he loved you too much to let you stay working for Tony. He needed you for himself.
"Do you really think so low of me?" your voice was barely above a whisper, your brows knitted together in dissapointment. The sun was now long gone behind the peaks, there was no color reflected on the water anymore and the air suddenly felt sharp and cold, perfectly matching Declan's words.
Ηe struggled to form his next sentence. The man who had each and every one of his show guests at his fingertips, who knew how to speak his way through any situation, sat defeated before his most trusted colleague.
"No, look, I'm sor-"
"You know, if this has anything to do with Maud leaving and you feeling the need to take it out on somebody else, I can try to understand but by no means accept it." with firm hands on the table, you pushed your chair back and stood up, ignoring Declan's useless efforts to apologize.
"I'll see you tomorrow for the ceremony. I'll be ready by 5. Good night." with a final glance at him you made your exit. All this time you'd been working together and it seemed like this was the very first moment he'd witnessed genuine hurt and anger taking over you. He sat there, unable to move an inch but instictively reaching for a cigarette, taking it between his lips and lighting it with slightly shaking hands. Why couldn't he separate his TV persona from his real self and refrain from dissecting people just to feel something? Why couldn't he stop hurting the people he loved and cared for?
-
Your reflection in the vanity mirror opposite the room's bed had begun turning into something unfamiliar after you'd zoned out for the umpteenth time while getting ready.
The walk you'd taken earlier by lake Como, had helped you clear your mind a great lot. You had found yourself unable to get enough of the breathtaking view that stood before you. A vast body of water so calm and still the entire sky was mirrored on it and on its edges, like antexifes, beautiful houses in vibrant colors, all engulfed by the rich green, imposing mountains in the backround. This place felt as if it didn't belong to earth, as if it was a piece of heaven that had fallen from the sky, or was magically accessed through some sort of portal that went unnoticed.
Your mind kept travelling back to those images, your heart still a bit sore from Declan's false assumptions about you, as you fixed the final details of your hairstyle - an elegant updo containing far more bobby pins and hairspray, that you'd usually go for. You'd hoped this fairytale-like town would have been the catalyst for a much more pleasant series of events, but maybe this was all for the best. A sign that you should deny and bury your feelings for good. How naive of you to expect anything else.
A knock on the door, though gentle, startled you interrupting your train of thought. Withought questioning who it was, realising you must have lost track of time, you were quick to get up and open it. And the sight it revealed was a true eye candy. You could have sworn you were ready to forgive Declan right on that spot just because of that tuxedo he'd chosen and the way his raven black curls were so perfectly slicked back.
"You look ravishing." for a split second you thought he was reading your mind, but the compliment was for you instead. The black velvet v-neck dress that hugged your body in all the right ways certainly did not go unnoticed by the handsome irishman that stood before you. He'd never seen you all dolled up before and that certainly had him feeling something stirring up inside him. Your eyes, carefully outlined with black, looked more enticing than ever and your lips, painted scarlet red suddenly felt too inviting. Was this his punishment for acting like such a jerk the previous night?
"You don't look half bad yourself." you returned with a mischievous look and moved past him to continue down the hallway, but stopped just a few steps in after noticing Declan wasn't following you.
"Are you coming or not?" you turned around to see him in the exact same spot you'd left him. You'd forgotten that the best part of your dress was its open back rather than the v-neck cut in the front and Declan was definitely pleased with this discovery. Your voice pushed away all the unholy thoughts running through his mind and without missing another second he was striding to your side.
"I know you still might not want to hear it, but I have the right to apologize formally for what I said yesterday." he began once he caught up with you. "I didn't mean it and I don't see you like that." he added, looking straight ahead as you both walked to the elevator.
"The words weren't the ones doing the damage. After all, I've been working for Tony for a couple of years now, I can handle insults. It was the fact that you, of all people, said them. And I know better than to think they were chosen without thought, so what was the matter?" stopping in front of the elevator doors, your steady gaze fell on his features that always seemed to be burdened by troubles he rarely revealed to anyone.
"It's just that I think you deserve better, so much better." he admitted with a heavy sigh.
"Allow me to decide that myself, next time." you replied with a tight-lipped smile just as the familiar sound signaling the elevator had arrived, was heard.
"If you ever change your mind, there will always be a place for you in Venturer. I want you to know that." he let you enter first and followed close behind, taking the space right next to you.
"I appreciate that. Is that how you'll call it, Venturer?" you shot him a curious look.
"Yes, you don't think it's suitable?" he frowned at your question.
"No, I just think it sounds...dreamy!" the doors opened once again after you last word and you both stepped out to get to the car that was waiting outside the lobby. You may not have caught a glimpse of it, but Declan did shoot you a puzzled look upon hearing your answer. It wasn't really what he was expecting to hear, a simple 'no' or a 'yes but' would have made a lot more sense, but then again he wouldn't have fallen for you if everything you said came straight out that little box in his brain containing everything that made sense to him.
-
"And the award for best TV interview show host, goes to..." this was your queue, the big moment had finally arrived and you turned to look at Declan sitting next to you, only to find him doing the same. His demeanor had changed, though. With a half smoked cigarette between his smirking lips and a glint of confidence in his eyes, there was no doubt that you were now looking at the 'vicious Irish Wolfhound of Corinium'...
"Declan O'Hara!" the room erupted in applause after the presenter's announcement and you hugged each other in the most effortless and natural way possible. A feeling so new, yet somehow neither strange nor unfamiliar.
You walked up to the podium, with Declan leading the way and found your spot just a few steps behind him. You couldn't hide your smile as you watched him recieve the award and despite the fact that you'd be standing behind him for his little speech, you could almost see that sparkle in his eyes, the pride that made his shoulders feel lighter than ever.
"It's a true honor to be receiving this award. I'd like to thank the audience that showed their support time and time again both live at the studio, but most importantly from their homes through the TV. Of course I would also like to thank Corinium, none of this would have been possible without its hard working people. Their contribution has been invaluable." with that last sentence he briefly turned to look at you, to make sure you knew exactly who he was talking about. Like all these times during his show when he searched for your eyes. He always found you in a corner somewhere by the audience. You were his anchor during any fleeting moments of uncertainty, even if you weren't quite aware of it.
Turning back to the audience once again he raised the award with a proud smile, proceeding to leave the stage with confident strides and you following close behind.
The rest of the night went smoothly. You watched and applauded all the other winners. Declan introduced you to all sorts of old colleagues of his that came by to congradulate him and if you weren't so caught up with the idea of him seeing you as nothing but his assistant, you'd swear you'd spotted jealousy in his eyes when any of then attempted to flirt with you.
Once you were back at the hotel, stood right outside, you told him you fancied taking a quick walk around the lake.
"I won't take long, just want to get a good look at it by night. And then we can get a drink maybe?"
"Oh so now it's not controversial to be seen having a drink with my assistant?" he teased, taking a step closer.
"Her boss just got an award, I think they both deserve a celebratory drink." you replied in the same tone, motioning to the trophy he was holding.
"I will have to agree with you." he gave you a smug smile.
-
After about 15 minutes you were back. The scenery had indeed looked serene with the light from all the houses resembling fireflies on the surface of the water, but the air had gotten a bit too chilly for the outfit you'd chosen.
Walking through the lobby you caught a glimpse of an all too familiar figure with the corner of your eye, sitting at the bar further away to your right. You were expecting to find him in his room, but it seems like he was to impatient to wait for you.
"Celebrating without me?" you asked in a playfull teasing tone once you approached Declan, his back facing you. He was slow and reluctant to turn around and when he did your smile faded.
"What's wrong?" your worry peacked once you saw his glassy eyes "Declan, what happened?" he was still taking his time to compose himself before he decided to speak.
"Maud called. She must have found the hotel from Taggie. She's been settled in London and she's filing a divorce." his voice lacked emotion. Either he was still in denial, or had fully accepted what was happening and given that this was Declan, it all pointed to the latter. Silence fell, only the distant chatter of some group of friends further away could be heard. You were unsure of how you were supposed to reply to something like this, but Declan continued on his own after nervously running a hand through his hair. "I knew it was foolish to believe she'd come back." he scoffed bitterly, then took a large sip from the whiskey sitting on the bar counter. A sheer contrast. Just a few hours ago he was the happiest you'd ever seen him, proudly recieving the recognition he deserved for his work and now... You were witnessing his most vulnerable moment. If you were being honest, you never thought Declan was capable of letting his guard down, or even be affected so deeply by something. That didn't mean it wasn't painful to actually see it. To see how much he truly loved his family that was falling apart.
"You can go, I'll just finish this and be up too. I won't do anything stupid, this time." he couldn't bare to look at you, you weren't supposed to be the one having to deal with him while he was like this. He wasn't even expecting you to say something, but eventually you did.
"You know, I'm not the best at giving advice, but I have this one saying I keep going back to when things get a bit rough. 'It's probably for the best'. I mean, sometimes shit just happens and you don't get anything good from it, but other times..." uncertain if you were doing any good, you placed your hand on top of his on the counter. "If it's of any use, I know how much you loved Maud. I saw it all in the way you looked at her during that New Year's Eve party." you took a seat next to him, your words forcing his eyes to bore into yours. He wondered how you had noticed such detail and held on to it all these months later.
"Love was never enough for her, or at least my kind of love. All she ever wanted was attention, money." you remained quiet, watching him as he let his gaze wander somewhere along the multicolored glass bottles on the bar shelves. "I gave her a second chance after she literally slept with another man, because I believed we could work it out and now she goes and does this just because I was trying to provide for her and the kids." he shook his head irritated. He'd never spoken to you so openly about his marriage and you were starting to feel a bit uncomfortable.
You weren't quite the fan of his wife, more like you hated every piece of her vain character. She had your blood boiling with her behaviour at that party. With how she craved and thrived from everyone's eyes being on her. With how she refused to be on the same wavelength as Declan and the way she so shamelessly cheated on him. This situation was only making you more furious, more depserate to let Declan know your deepest feelings about him. Still, you tried to refrain from using his divorce for such purpose.
"You can't really change a person, but you can change the way you react to them." he let out a heavy sigh, probably still too lost in his own thoughts to actually process what you were saying. "I can only begin to imagine how all this must feel. I'm really not the person to help with it in any way, unfortunately, because I never understood what you and Maud had. Jesus, I never understood Maud's mindset, because if I had a husband like you I'd never..." you trailed off. This was so wrong, you where taking it too far. You were inappropriately taking advantage of the situation. This was not the right moment. Hell, was there ever a right moment?!
Declan's fierce eyes were immediately back on yours. All sobered up from his aches in an instant. "You'd never what?" the words rolled off his tongue inquiringly. It reminded you of times during his interviews when he'd had his guests right where he wanted them, ready to reveal some big secret of theirs.
"I'd never even think about looking at another man." you admitted with a pounding heart. At that point there was nothing to loose and before you could register what was happening Declan's lips where crashing hard onto yours, letting you taste a dizzying mix of tobacco and alcohol as his sturdy hands cupping your face.
Placing your palms on his chest you wanted nothing but to loose yourself in the moment you'd been fantasising about for so long, but once again you had to put your morals above this and were quick to push him back. Slightly out of breath and anxiously, he waited for your explanation.
"If this is just some kind of reaction, a way for you to feel like you're getting back at her, we should stop now." you drew your hands back abrubtly, fighting the burning urge to simply kiss him as hard as he did.
"This isn't about Maud. This is about you and me. Are we on the same page?" it was your turn to choose to reply with a feverish kiss, much to Declan's relief. Just before he was ready to deepen it, however, you stopped him again, leaving him confused. "Not here. At my room in 5'." you had already risked being seen, you shouldn't push it.
"You never break character, do you darling?" he smirked to which you playfully rolled your eyes before making your way to the elevator.
No sooner had you entered your room than you heard a quiet but determined knock. You were quick to open, locking eyes with Declan and not once breaking contact as you let him walk in and pin you against the door when you closed it. The collision of your lips was harder than before, if that was even possible. Tongues already eager to explore more. Your arms flying around his neck while you felt his hands on your waist and soon one of his palms travelling south behind your thigh, urging you to lift your leg up and let him press against you. The change in position had you letting out a small whimper simultaneously with Declan's grunt.
His mouth greedily trailed down to your neck and you pulled him closer with the leg you had around his hip. He could feel your heated pulse under his lips. Or was it just his own vibrating through his entire body? Unable to say, he let himself get drunk in the feeling of your soft skin for a little longer before he retreated, freeing your body from his touch but not his presence.
The only sound that could be heard was that of your laboured breaths as you stared into each other's eyes with a spectrum of emotions: hunger, lust, anticipation, uncertainty.
"You can't imagine how long I've wanted to have you like this." he was the first to break the silence, with a low growl.
"Is that why you basically called me a whore the other night? Was that oddly specific image part of some fantasy of yours?" you were starting to put two and two together. Your hands, still on his shoulders got to work, sliding off his black suit jacket.
"Would it be so bad if I said yes?" his voice was just a whisper, his hand travelling up your torso to one of your mounds, while the other found purchase on your waist. The idea of you bending over for Tony did infuriate him, but partially because more often that he'd like to admit he fantasised about putting you in such position.
"Abdolutely not." you sighed feeling his palm squeeze you in such perfect way, further igniting the heat in your core. The fact that Declan actually saw you in such way was making you feel light headed.
What followed was a hot mess of kisses, touches, pulling and groping, until you'd discarded each other's clothes down to your underwear, leaving everything in a heap on the floor. Declan sat on the side of the bed and took your hand to guide you to straddle him as he settled further up. Shooting you a dirty look he decided to take control.
"The other way around, darling." a bit confused, but too hot and bothered to further question his command you did as he said and let out a chuckle once you were on his lap and caught sight of the two of you within the frame of the vanity mirror on the opposite wall.
"Hope there's no objection to me watching you come undone like this." his voice was sinfully low next to your ear as he hooked two fingers on your black lacey underwear and started pulling it off.
"Who am I to say no to you?" the use of the same phrase you'd said during dinner the other night, drove him crazy, gave him a sense of power over you that was intoxicating and you felt him harden through his boxers against your back as he growled "Good girl" with that delicious accent of his.
Once your last article of clothing had succesfully been discarded, his strong hands were on your thighs, spreading your legs further to reveal your folds. Caressing his way back up he made you lightly jolt once he found your clit, lazily circling it, watching your reaction through the mirror with lust clouded eyes.
"Dirty little thing, you've wanted this too." he murmured before leaving open mouthed kisses on your shoulder. You confirmed his statement by tilting your head to give him better access to the spot. His free hand once again found its place on one of your breasts as the one working on your clit moved south, two fingers gathering your arousal before slowly entering you.
A moan was bound to leave your lips and Declan was instantly addicted. He continued his ministrations across your whole body, eager to hear more. His mouth on your neck and shoulder, his palm on your breast and his fingers slipping in and out of you. The sight was lewd, filthy but without a doubt far better than anything that had crossed either one's mind.
"Let me see your eyes, sweetheart." his touch not once loosing its pace as he waited for you to meet his gaze on the mirror's reflection adding a thumb back on your sensitive budle of nerves, once you did.
"Declan..." you moaned. It was all getting too much, you felt your release approaching, eyes fluttering closed as you let one of your hands, that had been gripping the sheets, reach behind and pull Declan's hair, earning yourself a grunt.
"Let go for me, darling." his velvety voice was all you needed to reach your climax, moaning a mix of his name and profanities, your body writhing in his steady embrace.
Once you had regained control of your body, you were quick to switch your position to face Declan and get rid of the last piece of frabric separating you, just in time to see him bring the two fingers he used on you to his mouth.
"Delightful" sheer satisfaction was painted across his features as he moaned then let you get a taste of yourslelf with a sloppy kiss. It wasn't long before your hands were on his erection, eliciting a string of heavenly sounds from him.
"I'm starting to think you were getting pissed at me all the time on purpose." he was at your mercy the way you pumped him but still tried to get the upper hand. "Were you imagining me loosing my composure and fucking you senseless against the nearest wall?" and it was working you were getting undenianbly wet again.
"Other scenarios were further up my list if I had to be honest." you slowed down your movements but squeezed harder. Two could play this game.
"Such?" he was stifling a groan.
"Us here, in this hotel away from anyone who knows who we are." with each word you positioned him at your entrance, too impatient to finally have him fill you. You moaned in unison once you relaxed and let him get buried in your walls. Relishing the moment he kissed your lips and every part of your skin he had access to and you welcomed his insatiable hunger by finding purchase on his chest.
"Ready when you are, love." he broke character momentarily to let you adjust to the stretch, but honestly, nothing sounded sexier than checking in on each other. You started moving, lifting and circling your hips as he matched you with slow shallow thrusts, while lowering you back on the sheets.
The change in angle had you whining. Declan's movements began getting harder and deeper. Words where made redundant, both too far lost in each other's touch, in each other's bodies to make a coherent sound.
His fingers returned to your clit causing your back to arch and allowing him to reach a new spot that had you seeing stars. He was close, desperately chasing his own release but determined to bring you to your second orgasm.
"Give me one more, sweatheart, I know you can." he groaned once he felt your hands on his broad shoulders pulling him closer, letting his lips find that sweet spot on your neck.
With an obscene moan of his name you were coming hard once again, your mind going blank with that euphoric feeling and Declan whispering sweet nothings in your ear that soon turned into profanities as he reached his own climax.
Was this wrong, you couldn't tell, but you were sure that if it was you never wanted to be right.
"You do realise we have some talking to do." he pulled out and plopped down next to you trying to catch his breath.
"Can we do that when we get back? Preferably with me bent over your desk?" you replied with sass, chest heaving and mind still a mess.
"Christ, you'll be the death of me."

@askstormscall
A bottle drifts to a soft fall in the library. Its weight is heavier than normal as if it was carrying something other than letter. Inside was a letter and a warm iridescent feather, its rainbow hue bright beneath the light.
"Dear Goomy, I am... not good at this! I have never made a letter before. You will be my first! I'm so glad I have met you at the party. You helped me in a way I would have never thought about. Mo'o says this was a best way to maybe reach you. I hope me and my brother will keep to work things out and I hope your days will flourish after helping me!"
*Cepheus was awfully confused by the bottle that had drifted in through the sky light in the library. Where has it come from? Why was it here? He gave a looked to Kel who shared the same expression. Seems they were not expecting anything like this to happen. The duo slowly approached it, getting a much clearer look at the contents contained within. When Cepheus saw the delicately iridescent feather in the bottle, his face immediately lit up. There was only one Pokémon who had that stunning colouring - the unique lugia he had met at the beach event! Seems she had sent him something.*
Cepheus: Yo Kel, seems things are chill with this. It’s from that Lugia I’d met.
*Kel was still confused but trusted Cepheus. They immediately floated to the bottle, carefully levitated it with their psychic powers and took both the feather and letter out of the glass container. The subtle rainbow shine on it was truly beautiful. Not something Kel had ever seen before. Ah, of course, that Lugia with the dazzling feathers. How kind of her to leave something for Cepheus. They began reading the contents of the letter to the arceus.*
Kel: What a lovely way to be thanked. See? You helped someone on that beach.
Cepheus: Yeah yeah. It is nice she gave me one of her feathers. I mean, just seeing her in real life. Wow. Most radiant, I’m telling you.
Kel: I’m sure she was.
Cepheus: Would you be able to put the feather in the treasury please? Something like this can’t just be left out in the open. Gotta store it in the right place, you dig?
Kel: Of course.
*With a quick wave of their hand, Kel teleported the feather into the safest area of the treasury - somewhere where it would rest without fear of being damaged. They grabbed a small ballpoint pen and a sheet of paper from one of the shelves nearby.*
Kel: I am to assume you want to write a letter back?
Cepheus: It’s like you can read my mind or something! Of course I do. And maybe I should add a little something in it too from me. Could you do the writing?
Kel: Sure Ceph.
“Dear most unique lugia,
Thank you for your letter. It is most kind of you to write to me! It’s been ages since I’ve had one but I dig the vibes of it! There’s just something most excellent about writing letters. Just has this vibe, you get me?
I am glad to have met you too! It’s not often you get to see a lugia of your colouration out in the open! Truly a most radical sight to see. I am also thrilled that my words were able to help you out. That’s just what I like doing, helping others who need it. I’m sure things will go well with you and your bro but remember that it’s ok if it’s not a completely smooth journey. Sometimes these things take time, you dig? Definitely wishing you luck on everything.
Absolutely dig the gift you left me. That feather? Wow. I am going to treasure it forever. So, I’m leaving you a little something from my personal collection. I’m not sure what size you are but-“
*Kel had to pause because they knew exactly what Cepheus was going to give to the lugia. They turned to look at the arceus who had already got the item next to him. A pair of lugia-shaped crocs. Oh, why did it have to be crocs? It could have been any gift. Cepheus was obsessed with them. Kel just could not understand the obsession and shook their head when they spotted them. Cepheus looked at them with his usual chill smile, ushering them on to continue with the letter. Kel rolled their eyes, adjusted their round glasses and continued writing what Cepheus wanted them to write.*
“here’s some of the most excellent footwear you’ll ever have. You see, I just so happen to own the largest collection of crocs ever. I just love them and figured you could do with a pair for your own. And look, they’re lugia-shaped! Isn’t that just the most radical thing you’ve ever seen in your life? You can do what you like with them!
Hope to meet you sometime again soon,
The most radical goomy ever.”
Cepheus: Yeah! That sounds like a most excellent letter! Thanks for writing it!
Kel: You’re welcome. I know you struggle with spelling so I’m glad to help. Though, I have to question how you’re going to see her again. Are you going to visit her?
Cepheus: I was thinking she could come here. She’d get along with Genera I think and it’d be nice to see what progress she’s made with her brother, if you get me?
Kel: But she doesn’t know where here is. That’s why she sent the letter.
Cepheus: Oh, you are most right. Yeah, ok. Just hold the letter close to me.
*Kel did as instructed, holding the letter close to Cepheus. Using one of his levitating arc pieces, he touched the letter and it immediately began to glow a soft golden light with small sparkles lining the edges of the paper.*
Cepheus: Ok, could you add a PS to it?
Kel: Sure.
“PS I’ve been able to, through mysterious, magical means, give you a way to find me through this letter if you wanna speak to me face to face again. Like, the letter will, if you request it, become a magic portal that’ll lead you to me if you want to. I know it seems completely wild but the power of goo is strong. I’m chill with keeping up with letters but just wanted to give you the option just in case you needed someone to talk to or whatever.”
*As Kel had finished scribbling away, Cepheus was looking over their shoulder, making sure everything came out ok. He seemed very satisfied by what was written. Kel rolled up the letter and gathered the rather large (well, large in comparison to them) crocs from near Cepheus’ feet. They proceeded to attach a bow to the crocs which held the letter firmly attached to the odd footwear before giving them a tap. They disappeared, leaving no trace of ever being there in the library.*
Kel: Ok, I’ve been able to send the letter and your…lovely…pair of crocs to the location where this lugia wrote her letter. The letter should adjust to being the right size for her to be able to read.
Cepheus: Excellent work my most excellent friend. Hopefully they’ll arrive without getting damaged or anything.

THE CHOCCY POTATOES EXPERIMENT
idk what else to call this
First off, many thanks goes to @foursixtwonineoh-pizzas-of-lego for taking one for the team and trying this first. I saw ur post, and went like hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Kudos to you for being an accurate peer review, but I wanted to try and give them proper justice. Because: hypothesis, it's essentially the same thing and wouldn't taste that bad, just maybe a bit sweeter. but also 2) mashed potatoes tastes better if u use real potatoes not the powdered, instant kind (personal preference).
So I did what any other bored human being would do an immediately conscripted the Birb Bestie(TM) to join in my cause (namely to let me desecrate her kitchen and her potatoes for food crimes and i'd supply the choccy milk).
(is this really even a food crime if we are still following the three chief guidelines of highests of chefs and bestests of traveling companions, samwise gamgee? Boil them, mash them, stick them in a stew?)
(ok so now that that's out of my system, we continue)
The very scientific process:
peel potatoes (apparently i do this wrong and was not allowed to continue to further steps, So i plan tumblr post and take pics that i can't end up using bc phone died on my way home from dropping friend off)
chop potatoes in excruciatingly smol pieces so they cook faster.
enjoy quality time with bestie and get Hyped
Bestie Remembers that You Must Add Water to Potatoes and goes to put smol amount of water in pot (she is more exact with measurements but also we only did two potatoes so didn't need a lot).
quick vibe break while things cook, also try the Drink One of the Tumblr Moots Recommended
6. Mash and add choccy milk
The Results:
looks slightly pink but also same vibe of "ITS THE GREY STUFF" from beauty and the beast (I used true moo choccy milk may have affected results)
It tastes like normal
no seriously, it tastes like normal mashed potatoes there's no real hint of chocolate
*add butter and salt* WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT TASTES LIKE NORMAL MASHED POTATOES
*adds more choccy milk* ⇾ proceeds to taste like chocolate milk with stuff in it. like orange juice with pulp kinda vibe.
kinda relieved it didn't taste bad but also kinda wished it did *something*
took one trip to grab actual lunch and one screening of the barbie movie.
Had to come home and explain to my mother why this was worth going out and spending 1.89 on chocolate milk and consider this an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon (she still doesn't get i; i think she thinks I'm an idiot, which yk, not an unreasonable conclusion.)
@cygnusdoesthings @walkthruthewords my final update on the choccy potatoes saga.
#brb rambles#brb-life#choccy potatoes#didn't end up doing the coffee potatoes tho although those woul've maybe been fun#i don't think they would'veworked either bc i think potato sucked up too much of the chocolate flavor somehow.

Chapter Sixteen: The Big Sissy
Planning a wedding was no small feat, but Y/N was thriving in it.
She had meticulously thought through every detail—the venue, the flowers, the food, the vibe. She wanted something simple yet breathtaking, a celebration that felt intimate but still lively, filled with love and laughter.
The ceremony would take place outdoors, in a sprawling field of wildflowers with a perfect view of the Montana sky. Wooden picnic tables would be set for the reception, fairy lights strung through the surrounding trees, creating a warm, dreamy glow by the time the sun set. It would be perfect.
Beau had, of course, kept his input minimal—his only firm requests were that he could wear his Texan tuxedo, Eliza got to be the flower girl, Caleb to be the ring bearer and they served damn good food. Beyond that? He just wanted to marry her.
Which, honestly, was enough to make her melt on the spot every time he said it.
She had just settled at the kitchen table, poring over seating arrangements, when Beau’s phone rang. She glanced up from her notes as he pulled it from his pocket, checking the screen.
A slow smile spread across his face.
“Well, look who finally remembered she has a father,” he teased as he answered.
Y/N arched a brow as he put the call on speaker.
“Ha-ha, very funny, Dad,” Emily shot back. Her voice was warm, teasing, but it made something tighten in Y/N’s chest—she had heard so much about Emily but hadn’t actually met her yet.
Beau chuckled, leaning against the counter. “What’s up, sweetheart?”
Emily hesitated for a second before exhaling. “I was calling because… I was wondering if I could come visit before the wedding. Like, a little trip. Meet Y/N, the kids, spend some time with you before the whole big event.”
Y/N’s heart soared.
Beau grinned. “You better be visitin’ before the wedding, Em. Damn near thought you weren’t gonna make time for your old man.”
Emily snorted. “Dad, please. I’m making plenty of time for you.”
Beau smirked. “Oh yeah? I don’t know, sweetheart. You’ve been all about that college life lately.”
Y/N laughed softly, and before she could stop herself, she said, “Emily, I love this idea.”
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, then—
“Is that Y/N?” Emily asked, her voice lighter.
Beau smirked. “Sure is.”
“Emily,” Y/N said warmly, leaning toward the phone, “I would love for you to stay with us while you’re here. If you’re comfortable with that, of course.”
There was another beat of silence before Emily answered, “Really? You wouldn’t mind?”
Y/N scoffed. “Not at all! I mean, if you’re coming to meet me and your siblings, you might as well stay with us.”
Beau watched Y/N with pure adoration, warmth flooding his chest. He had always known she wanted Emily to be part of their family, but hearing it? Seeing the way she immediately embraced the idea?
It made him fall even harder for her.
Emily, on the other end, exhaled in relief. “That actually sounds really nice.”
Y/N grinned. “Perfect. I’ll make up the guest room for you.”
Beau smirked, nudging Y/N playfully. “Careful, Em. She’s gonna spoil you.”
Emily laughed. “I think I’m okay with that.”
Beau chuckled before softening his tone. “It’ll be good to see you, sweetheart.”
“Yeah,” Emily murmured. “I miss you, Dad.”
Y/N felt her heart clench at the emotion in her voice.
Beau’s throat bobbed slightly as he exhaled. “Miss you too, Em.”
Y/N reached for his hand, giving it a small squeeze.
Emily cleared her throat, shifting the energy slightly. “Okay, so I’ll book my flight for next week. That work for you guys?”
“Absolutely,” Y/N said.
“Sounds perfect, sweetheart,” Beau added.
“Great,” Emily said, and Y/N could hear the smile in her voice. “Alright, I’ll text you my flight info when I book it. Love you, Dad.”
“Love you too, Em,” Beau said softly before the call ended.
The second he set the phone down, Y/N turned to him with a beaming smile.
“Beau,” she breathed. “I’m so excited to meet her.”
Beau chuckled, tugging her into his arms. “Darlin’, I know. She’s gonna love you.”
Y/N pressed her face into his chest, letting the warmth of the moment settle between them.
Their family was growing, blending in a way that felt so natural. And as much as Y/N had looked forward to their wedding day, she was just as excited for the days before it—where Emily would finally step into their home, get to know them, and truly see that she had a place with them.
Beau kissed the top of Y/N’s head, murmuring, “Damn good idea puttin’ her on speaker, huh?”
Y/N laughed. “Best decision you’ve made all day, Sheriff.”
And as they swayed gently in the kitchen, excitement buzzing between them, Beau knew—this was exactly how it was meant to be.
The airport was buzzing with activity, travelers moving in every direction, rolling suitcases, greeting family members, and making their way toward the exit.
Beau stood near baggage claim, hands tucked into his pockets, rocking slightly on his heels. Y/N stood beside him, her excitement barely contained as she scanned the crowd.
And then—
“There she is,” Beau murmured, spotting Emily making her way toward them.
Y/N turned just as Emily spotted Beau, her face lighting up. “Dad!”
Beau grinned, arms already outstretched as Emily reached him, wrapping her in a tight hug. “Hey there, Em,” he murmured. “Missed you, kid.”
Emily squeezed him back. “Missed you too.”
After a moment, she pulled back, turning toward Y/N, a slightly nervous but excited smile on her face. “And you must be Y/N.”
Y/N stepped forward, grinning. “Guilty.”
Emily let out a small laugh before they both stepped into a warm hug, and Beau watched with pure joy as the two most important women in his life finally met.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” Y/N said sincerely.
Emily smiled, stepping back. “Me too.” She glanced between them, her expression playful. “Hope you guys are ready for me.”
Beau chuckled, throwing an arm around both of them. “Darlin’, we’ve been ready.”
And as they left the airport, heading back home, Beau felt a sense of wholeness settle in his chest.
This was his family.
And it was perfect.
The truck rumbled steadily down the open Montana road, golden sunlight casting long shadows across the rolling fields. The scent of pine and summer air drifted through the slightly cracked windows, the radio playing softly in the background.
Beau sat in the driver’s seat, one hand on the wheel, the other resting lazily on Y/N’s knee. She sat beside him, scrolling through wedding notes on her phone, while Emily sat in the back, stretching out after her flight, looking out at the sprawling Montana landscape.
“So,” Emily said, breaking the comfortable silence, “where are my adorable new siblings?”
Y/N turned in her seat, smiling. “With my mom, Margaret.”
Emily raised an eyebrow. “Your mom’s in town?”
“Oh yeah,” Y/N said, nodding. “With the wedding just two weeks away, I definitely needed the extra help, and grandma was more than happy to come spoil her grandbabies rotten.”
Beau chuckled. “That’s puttin’ it lightly.”
Emily smirked. “So, she’s one of those grandmas?”
“Oh, absolutely,” Y/N said with a laugh. “She got here three days ago, and the second she stepped through the door, she had Eliza in one arm and Caleb in the other, declaring she was never leaving.”
Emily grinned. “So, full grandma mode?”
Beau shook his head in amusement. “Full grandma takeover.”
Emily chuckled, shifting forward slightly to lean her arms on the back of their seats. “Sounds like the perfect gig.”
“I tried warnin’ her,” Beau added, shaking his head. “Told her she’d never get Caleb back once Margaret had him. Kid’s livin’ the high life—constant cuddles, being rocked to sleep, and I swear I caught my future mother-in-law whispering, ‘You can do no wrong’ to him.”
Emily let out a laugh. “Sounds about right.”
“And Eliza?” Y/N added, turning to glance at her. “She’s thriving under all the extra attention. She’s been showing my mom everything. Her favorite toys, her hiding spots, and—oh—she’s convinced she’s the bride.”
Emily snorted. “That tracks.”
“Oh, it definitely tracks,” Beau muttered, shaking his head. “I’m just hopin’ she doesn’t try to take over the ceremony.”
Emily smiled, glancing between them before exhaling slowly. “I can’t wait to meet them.”
Y/N beamed. “They can’t wait to meet you either.”
Emily hesitated for a second before murmuring, “I hope they like me.”
Beau caught the flicker of uncertainty in her voice and immediately reached over to squeeze her hand, keeping his eyes on the road. “Sweetheart, they’re gonna love you.”
Y/N nodded, warmth in her voice. “Eliza’s been calling you ‘Big Sissy’ since we told her you were coming.”
Emily blinked, visibly touched. “Really?”
“Oh yeah,” Y/N assured her. “She’s claimed you already.”
Emily swallowed, nodding slowly. “That’s… really sweet.”
Beau smirked, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. “Told ya you didn’t have to worry.”
Emily rolled her eyes but smiled. “Alright, alright.”
Y/N reached back, squeezing Emily’s hand gently. “You’re family, Em. And they already love you.”
Emily let out a small laugh, but Beau could feel the tension in her shoulders ease.
For the rest of the drive, they talked about the wedding—the plans, the chaos, the excitement. Emily wanted to know every detail, and Y/N happily filled her in.
By the time they pulled up to the house, the porch lights were glowing softly, the windows warmly lit inside.
Beau grinned as he parked the truck. “Welcome home, sweetheart.”
Emily exhaled slowly, a smile tugging at her lips as she took in the sight.
Yeah.
This did feel like home.
The second Beau opened the front door, warm light spilled out into the night, welcoming them home. The house smelled like something sweet—Margaret must have been baking—and the distant sound of tiny giggles echoed through the living room.
Emily stepped inside, taking it all in. The cozy warmth, the scattered evidence of children—tiny shoes near the door, a stuffed animal abandoned on the stairs, and the soft lull of a baby’s coo.
And then—
A blur of curls and energy came bounding toward them.
“Bo-Bo!” Eliza shrieked, her tiny feet pattering against the floor as she launched herself toward Beau.
Beau laughed, bending down to scoop her up effortlessly. “Hey there, wolf-child,” he murmured, kissing her curls. “Miss me?”
Eliza nodded enthusiastically, wrapping her arms around his neck before spotting the new person standing beside him. Her wide, bright eyes blinked curiously at Emily, taking her in with the serious expression only a toddler could manage.
Emily smiled, crouching to Eliza’s level. “Hey there,” she said gently. “You must be Eliza.”
Eliza squinted, as if assessing, then turned to Beau. “Who dis?” she asked, pointing a tiny finger at Emily.
Beau chuckled. “This is Emily, baby girl. Remember? Your big sissy?”
At that, Eliza’s whole face lit up.
“Big sissy?” she echoed, turning back to Emily, her previous caution gone in an instant. Without hesitation, she threw herself at Emily, wrapping her little arms around her neck.
Emily barely had time to react before she was enveloped in an enthusiastic toddler hug. A breathless laugh escaped her as she caught Eliza, hugging her back. “Wow, okay—hi!”
Eliza giggled, patting Emily’s shoulder like she was approving of her. “Mine,” she declared proudly.
Beau snorted. “Told ya. She’s already claimed you.”
Emily pulled back slightly, grinning at Eliza. “Well, I guess that makes you my little sister, huh?”
Eliza nodded rapidly. “Uh-huh!” Then, without missing a beat, she turned toward the living room, cupping her hands over her mouth and shouting, “BABY! BIG SISSY HERE!”
Margaret appeared from the hallway, laughing softly as she cradled Caleb against her chest. “Alright, alright, Eliza. No need to yell in the baby’s ear.”
Emily’s eyes widened slightly as she stood, watching as Margaret walked toward them with Caleb in her arms. “Oh my God,” she whispered. “He’s so tiny.”
Margaret smiled. “He’s got a little more weight on him now, but he’s still Mama’s little boy, aren’t you, sweetheart?” she cooed, kissing Caleb’s soft head.
Y/N stepped in then, smiling as she gently took Caleb from Margaret’s arms. “Emily, would you like to hold him?”
Emily’s breath caught slightly. “Really?”
Y/N chuckled. “Of course. He’s your little brother.”
Emily hesitated, nodding slowly before holding out her arms. Y/N carefully transferred Caleb to her, and the second his tiny body settled against her, Emily felt her heart squeeze.
He was so small.
His tiny fingers curled slightly against her arm, his breaths soft and steady. “Wow,” Emily murmured, her voice full of awe. “He’s… perfect.”
Beau wrapped an arm around Y/N’s waist, watching the scene unfold, warmth spreading through his chest.
“Told ya,” he murmured.
Emily smiled, brushing her finger lightly against Caleb’s soft cheek. “Hey there, little guy,” she whispered. “I’m your big sister.”
Caleb stirred slightly, his tiny face scrunching up before settling again.
Y/N exhaled softly. “I think he likes you.”
Emily grinned. “I think I like him.”
Eliza tugged at Emily’s shirt then, looking up at her with eager eyes. “You stay?”
Emily glanced at Beau, then at Y/N, then back down at Eliza.
“Yeah,” she said, smiling warmly. “I’m staying.”
Eliza let out an excited squeal, hugging Emily’s leg before scampering off to find one of her stuffed animals.
Margaret chuckled. “Well, I think that went well.”
Beau grinned, pulling Y/N closer. “Yeah,” he murmured. “Yeah, it really did.”
And as Emily continued to cradle her little brother, Beau felt something settle deep in his bones.
His family was finally whole.
And he wouldn’t trade it for anything.
The night had settled over the ranch in a blanket of quiet, the sky a vast stretch of deep blue, stars scattered across it like flecks of silver. The house behind them was still alive with warmth—Y/N and Margaret tidying up in the kitchen, Eliza and Caleb fast asleep, their soft little breaths filling their rooms.
But outside, Emily sat alone on the porch swing, gently rocking back and forth, arms folded against the slight chill of the evening.
Beau stepped out onto the porch, his boots scuffing against the wooden boards as he took in the sight of his daughter—his grown daughter—lost in thought, her face unreadable.
He knew that look.
Without a word, he moved toward the swing, settling beside her. The old chains creaked slightly under their combined weight, the rhythm of the swing steady, slow. For a few moments, neither of them spoke, just sitting side by side, staring out at the moonlit landscape.
Finally, Beau broke the silence.
“You okay, sweetheart?”
Emily exhaled, shaking her head slightly, not in disagreement, but as if she didn’t quite know how to put it into words. “Yeah. I mean… yes. It’s just…” She sighed, looking down at her hands. “It’s a lot.”
Beau frowned slightly, turning toward her. “A lot?”
She nodded. “The love. The warmth. The way everyone just is together.” She gestured vaguely toward the house. “It’s so natural. So… effortless.”
Beau studied her, his chest tightening. “And that feels overwhelming?”
Emily let out a small, breathy laugh, but there was no humor in it. “Yeah. But not in a bad way. Just in a way I wasn’t expecting.” She paused, then said quietly, “I didn’t realize what was missing when I was growing up.”
Beau sucked in a slow breath, guilt creeping in, curling around his ribs.
“Em…”
She heard the weight in his voice and turned to face him, shaking her head before he could go any further. “No,” she said firmly, reading him like a book. “Don’t. Don’t apologize.”
Beau clenched his jaw, glancing away. “I should. Because I feel like I failed you.”
Emily frowned. “You didn’t fail me, Dad.”
Beau exhaled, running a hand over his face. “I tried to be a good father, Em. I loved you with everything I had, but your mama and I… we just couldn’t make it work. And now, sittin’ here, hearin’ you say this, I—” He shook his head. “I hate the idea that I didn’t give you enough.”
Emily swallowed, her eyes softening. “You did love me,” she said. “I never doubted that. Not for a second.” She hesitated before continuing, “But seeing you now… seeing this—you, Y/N, the kids, the way everything just flows—it made me understand something.”
Beau turned, waiting.
Emily inhaled deeply, her voice quiet but steady. “I get why things didn’t work between you and Mom.”
Beau’s breath caught slightly.
Emily gave him a small, knowing smile. “You and Y/N… you fit together. You love each other in a way that’s easy. Not that it doesn’t take work, but it’s… real. It’s not forced. It’s not you carrying everything alone, shutting the other person out.” She sighed, shaking her head. “I never realized how much that was missing between you and Mom until now.”
Beau stared at her, his throat tight. “You don’t resent me for that?”
Emily shook her head. “No. I used to wonder why you two couldn’t figure it out. Why love wasn’t enough. But now? I get it. Because this?” She gestured back toward the house. “This is love. What you have now… it’s what you were meant to have all along.”
Beau felt something inside him crack wide open, something that had been sitting there for years, weighing him down.
And now, looking at Emily—his smart, strong, incredibly wise daughter—he realized she wasn’t just saying it to comfort him. She meant it.
He let out a shaky breath, then reached over, gripping her hand. “You know I love you, right?” His voice was rough, full of emotion. “No matter what, no matter where you go or what you do—you’ll always be my girl.”
Emily’s lips trembled slightly before she nodded. “I know, Dad.” She squeezed his hand. “And I love you too.”
Beau exhaled, his grip tightening. “I’m real damn proud of you, Em. For who you are, for who you’re becoming.”
Emily blinked rapidly, then huffed out a breathy laugh, nudging him lightly. “Okay, stop before you make me cry.”
Beau chuckled, releasing her hand and leaning back, draping his arm across the back of the swing. “Can’t help it.”
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the night air cool against their skin, the quiet hum of crickets filling the space between them.
Finally, Emily sighed contentedly. “You think Y/N will let me steal Eliza for the whole day tomorrow?”
Beau snorted. “You might have to pry her outta grandma’s arms first.”
Emily grinned. “Challenge accepted.”
Beau smirked, then reached over, ruffling her hair like he used to when she was little.
“Dad,” she groaned, swatting his hand away, but there was a smile tugging at her lips.
“Sorry, sorry,” he teased, putting his hands up in surrender.
Emily shook her head but leaned into his side, resting her head against his shoulder just like she had when she was a kid.
And Beau sat there, holding his daughter close, knowing deep in his soul—
Everything was exactly as it should be.
The house was finally quiet.
Eliza and Caleb were sound asleep, Margaret had turned in for the night, and Emily had gone to her room after what Beau could only describe as a perfect day.
Now, as Beau stepped into the bedroom, tugging off his shirt, he let out a slow, tired sigh.
Y/N was already in bed, sitting up against the pillows, wearing one of his old T-shirts. She watched him as he crossed the room, something knowing in her gaze.
“Long day?” she asked softly.
Beau chuckled, tossing his shirt into the hamper. “Hell of a day.”
He crawled into bed beside her, immediately wrapping an arm around her waist and tugging her into his side. Y/N let out a small, contented sigh, her fingers lightly tracing over his bare chest.
They lay there in silence for a moment before Y/N murmured, “You talked to Emily tonight, didn’t you?”
Beau glanced down at her, his brows raising slightly. “That obvious?”
Y/N tilted her head up, smiling. “You’ve got that look.”
Beau exhaled, running a hand over his face. “Yeah. I found her outside on the porch. She was… overwhelmed, I think.”
Y/N frowned slightly, shifting closer. “Overwhelmed how?”
“Not in a bad way,” Beau assured her, wrapping his arm tighter around her. “Just… the love, the warmth. The way everything flows here.” He let out a slow breath. “She told me she didn’t realize what was missing when she was growing up.”
Y/N’s lips pressed together, her fingers stilling on his chest. “That must’ve been hard for her to admit.”
Beau nodded. “Yeah. And it hit me hard. Made me feel like I failed her somehow.”
Y/N sat up slightly, resting a hand on his cheek. “Beau,” she said gently, her voice full of reassurance, “you did not fail Emily.”
Beau sighed, leaning into her touch. “She stopped me before I could even apologize. Said she understood now.”
Y/N’s brows furrowed. “Understood what?”
Beau met her gaze. “Why Carla and I didn’t work.”
Y/N’s lips parted slightly.
“She told me that seeing us—seeing how we are, how easy it is—made her realize how much was missing between me and Carla.” His voice was soft, almost raw. “She gets it now. Not just in her head, but in her heart.”
Y/N exhaled slowly, her fingers gently stroking his jaw. “That’s… huge, Beau.”
He nodded, a small, almost disbelieving smile playing on his lips. “It really is.” He let out a small chuckle, shaking his head. “She also said she was stealing Eliza for the whole day tomorrow.”
Y/N chuckled, rolling onto her side so she could face him properly. “Oh, she thinks she’s stealing her? Eliza is going to be attached to her hip.”
Beau smirked. “I told her she’d have to pry Eliza outta grandma’s arms first.”
Y/N laughed, shaking her head. “Mom does have a firm grip on those grandbabies.”
“Oh, Emily loved the challenge,” Beau muttered, smirking. “Said she was ready.”
Y/N giggled, nuzzling into his chest. “I love that they’re bonding already.”
Beau wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin atop her head. “Yeah,” he murmured. “Me too.”
For a while, they just lay there, wrapped up in warmth, in home.
Then Y/N smirked. “So… should I be worried?”
Beau raised an eyebrow. “About?”
“Emily and Eliza against us,” Y/N teased. “That’s dangerous territory.”
Beau let out a deep laugh, rolling onto his back, dragging her half on top of him. “Oh, we’re doomed.”
Y/N giggled, resting her chin on his chest. “At least we have Caleb on our side—for now.”
Beau smirked, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “For now.”
Y/N sighed happily, tangling her fingers in his hair. “I love you, Mr. Arlen.”
Beau exhaled, contentment filling every part of him. “I love you more, Mrs. Arlen.”
And as the night stretched on, wrapped in warmth and love, Beau knew—this was the life he had always wanted.
And it was damn good.

Bro. For. REAL.
I think about this so much. There is so much interesting political world building going on that's never addressed directly. The Sand Village definitely becomes an vassle state to the Leaf Village post Konoha Crush. Point blank. That's obviously what's going on.
Sunagakure never financially recovers. We know this from Gaara's Novel and the filler episodes in Boruto. The novel tells us directly that they don't get paid for the Fourth Ninja War. In the filler episode of Boruto were told by citizens around Suna that people are still recovering from the war that happened 15 years ago.
I mention this a lot. I'm suprised Suna is even standing in Boruto.
Sunagakure is financially reliant on Konoha. This greenhouse exist in the Rivers Country(I have a whole rant on this), and was a gift from Konoha. Idk why they are doing flowers, it's supposed to be farm land... But whatever.
We are told that Konoha has too much work post Konoha Crush, because of all the murder that happened. There's essentially too many contracts and too few qualified Ninja to fulfill these contracts. It's why during the Sasuke Rescue Arc they had to send a bunch of Genin and one newly made chunin to rescue Sasuke. So we are told that because of the Sand Siblings assistance in this mission, it created an alliance with Konoha in Suna.
I've said this several times, if any one died on that mission, the entire series changes. Everyone on that mission is related to or the heir of an important Clan in Konoha. So by saving their lives the Sand Siblings forged a very important relationship with Konoha.
Konoha still has this problem where they have too many missions and not enough people to fill them... Suna has a problem of too many people and not enough missions. So this is where the formal alliance takes place. We can safely assume that Konoha has lessened in taking Sunagakures missions. Mostly because they physically can't sustain overworking their work force for a prolonged period. So it's an easy treaty item to add.
(This alliance is further cemented with the marriage of Sunas Princess Temari, and (future Hokage) Shikamaru. Because the position of Kazekage is an inherited title, Shikadai is in line to inherit it. He has a legitimate right to claim that title right now in Boruto with both Gaara and Shinki out of commission btw.)
---
Sunagakure citizens have mixed feelings about this alliance. We can see that in the Gaara rescue arc, where Granny Chiyo is very opposed to the alliance. It takes Naruto and the gang saving their Kazekage for this alliance to gain more favor in Suna.
There are still attempts on Gaaras life in the future(novel). Which does extend from his past, but also the political unrest of them never fully recovering from the war.
---
Now it's time to look at this on the international political stage.
First let's look at the chunin exam. Suna is the only Village from the Five Great Villages at Konoha's Chunin Exam. Which is odd and means we can assume means the other villages don't fuck with Konoha like that. It establishes early on that Suna and Konoha have always had frienemy vibes.
I've talked about this before, but having any alliance on the international level is important. Especially if they were to ever meet up in a Gokage Summit. Which is why why Konoha would benifit more from keeping Suna it's own Village rather than taking over completely.
Now the greatest thing about Orochimarus terrioist attack, Konoha Crush, for Suna. Is that outside of Gaara, Suna wasn't involved with it. Suna held back their troops, and Gaara was just supposed to go on a rampage. They intentionally set it up this way incase Orochimaru betrayed them. Another thing that works in their favor, his siblings were trying to take Gaara away from the action. Then we have Naruto keeping him away from the action. Orochimaru also killed the Kazekage. So for all intents and purposes, from an outside perspective, it looks like the Sound attacked both Konoha and Suna (and Gaara just had a really bad day, which given his history of attacking his own village like that is believable).
Then Suna gets a child Kage with Gaara. He's anywhere from 13-15 when he takes the position of a Kage. Probably closer to 13, because Suna can't be with out a Kage for too long. As soon as he takes over he starts adopting Konoha Ideals. This is also post retrvial arc, so we can assume their treaty involves them getting left over missions from Konoha. Which looks sus af from an out side perspective. It looks like an indirect take over, and hoenstly it functions like one.
Konoha then saves Gaara, making him the only jinchūriki who survived an Akatsuki attack. But again looks sus AF. We know from the Gokage Summit, and lack of jinchūriki, villages don't help eachother out like that. So it can very easily look like Tsunade wants to keep the child leader on the throne to maintain a relationship that benifits Konoha.
Then we got the Gokage Summit, where Gaara is Dick Riding Naruto so hard it's embarrassing. Honestly he, and Suna, is lucky Danzo was in charge at that moment and making such a fool of himself. Because if it were both Gaara and Tsunade advocating for Naruto's saftey at that moment before the attack, it would look so sus.
Then we have Gaaras little speach to the troops where he bassicly is singing Naruto's praise, but is also publicly aligning Suna with Konoha.
Then we have Boruto where he gives Konoha Shukaku. Obviously it's for his protection blahblahblah. From an outside perspective he's giving another nation control over Sunas biggest power source.
Gaara is so dickmatized by Naruto that it is politically irresponsible. Like even his adopted son has to be like, "stand up dad."
rereading naruto and it's wild how the sand's worldbuilding disintegrates the MOMENT shippuden starts.
In Part 1, the village was peaceful. The Wind Daimyo was using that as an excuse to cut the Sand's funding and also to hire the Leaf, who could now afford to charge lower prices, instead. In Shippuden the Sand has made peace with the Leaf and furthered its alliances... but ALSO solved its economic problems somehow? It's never explained how they did it IIRC.
Also the Sand basically looks like the Leaf's vassal this arc. They solved their troop strength problems too, but only by just adopting the Leaf's training methods which were apparently way better than theirs. They need Jiraiya to tell them about the Akatsuki even though their most famous criminal is a member, and they immediately agreed to enter an emergency just because Jiraiya-sama (they literally call him that) said so. Once Gaara is beaten, they're powerless to even inconvenience Sasori and Deidara. The only people who do anything are Leaf ninja and one retired woman who clearly only took the case out of personal interest, and the Leaf were there because the Sand gave up tracking the Akatsuki and called for help the moment Kankuro got beat. Sakura easily makes an antidote for Sasori's poison after less than three years of medic training when the best medics in the village couldn't do anything.
