“He likes her,” he says helplessly. Wangji enjoys the company of so few people that even that would be remarkable, but this is something he hadn’t thought he’d ever see again, something he hasn’t seen even a hint of in the past thirteen years.

But it’s there again, like Wangji is fifteen years old again and just discovering what want is. It’s desire and protectiveness and affection too overwhelming to be anything but painful.

Sizhui likes her too. It’s almost perfect.

Uncle’s lips press together. “She is not his to like.”

Lan Xichen has no response to that, because of course Uncle is right. Wu Yingtai is obviously if not publicly engaged to Jiang Wanyin. There’s nothing to be done about it.

He’d killed his brother once. He’d killed Wei Wuxian after A-jie had died to save him, dishonoring her sacrifice. What sin could be worse than that? Whose life could be more precious than that of his brother who their sister had died for? What wouldn’t he be willing to do in order to ensure one of his worst mistakes remains undone? Very little.

She sways and both Wangji and Sizhui reach out to steady her, but Jin Ling wraps an arm around her waist and glares at them. “Come on, Aunt Ying.” Does that glare seem worse than before? More possessive? Does Jin Ling know that Wangji is in love with his uncle’s fiancé? Lan Xichen can’t tell.

“I AM NOT ENGAGED TO A-YING!” Jiang Cheng roars, facing rapidly going from grey to red. “THERE WILL BE NO MARITAL DUTIES!” He reaches for his sword, seemingly barely restraining himself from unsheathing it. The rest of the hall has gone quiet, everyone’s attention on them.

“You knew I was Jin Guangshan’s daughter and you married me anyway?” Lan Xichen’s eyes widen. Jiang Cheng frowns and pinches the skin of his wrist. If he’s in the middle of a dream right now, that would explain several things. The doors burst open. A scarred woman stumbles into the banquet hall and announces, “I was there the night Sect Leader Jin killed his father!” “Darling, please,” Jin Guangyao starts, but is cut off by a dark figure bursting in through the window and heading straight for Qin Su. It’s, somehow, impossibly, Wen Ning. “Oh, I see,” Jiang Cheng says, reaching for Sandu. “This is a nightmare.”

It’s impossible. It’s impossible. It’s the only thing that makes sense. “Wei Ying,” he breathes, soft enough that no one else can hear him. She flinches. He tugs her forward, so she’s pressed against him like that day she ran into him, and curls his other arm around her waist. He lowers his head so he can speak directly into her ear. “Wei Ying.” She breathes out, shuddering in his arms, then mutters, “Lan Zhan. Not here.” He turns his face to bury it in Wei Ying’s hair, attempting to hide his smile from everyone else. Explanations can come later. For now, Wei Ying is alive, and in his arms, and that’s enough

Jin Guangyao has his sword pressed against Wu Yintai’s throat, enough that it’s broken skin, if only barely. Additionally, in the ten minutes since he’s left his brother’s side, it appears that he’s proposed, if his ribbon in Wu Yingtai’s hair is any indication. Jin Guangyao is holding a sword to throat of the woman Wangji loves. He barely survived losing Wei Wuxian, and now there’s no child to give his brother a will to live. He doesn’t know what losing Wu Yingtai would to do Wangji. He doesn’t want to find out.

A Moment But Forever - Episode 15

He's gone from literally running away from her to seeking her out because she's been gone for a bit and he's worried... 😍

Loving Yuanzhong explaining the concept of a social construct.

Oh man, his explanation that what matters is not the length of life but what you do with it, and being able to do what you want with your life... is especially poignant from a man whose autonomy was basically stripped from him as a teenager. He was made host of a divine weapon (and lbr he was NOT given a choice in that) and then used to fight their war for them... and then immediately after imprisoned. He hasn't been able to "live the life you want" since he was a child.

WTF Xie You?!! (But also, why didn't Yuanzhong do anything to defend himself?)

Damn, payback for something that was an accident? Tanyin herself didn't feel the need to take revenge for what happened at Pinghu, but Xie You feels he needs to do so on her behalf.

Is Xie You dying? Is that what the line means?

Damn. So what you're saying is... you were jealous of your disciple?

Ah she worries if she solves the final question for him, he will have no reason to go on living.

Ah man I kinda love when cdramas do this whole thing where they put such emphasis on what it means for one person to kowtow to another... for the master to kneel for the student, or the parent to kneel to beg the child. It's a uniquely cultural emphasis.

Is that why she's been hesitating and pondering over this final question? Not because she doesn't understand the task... but because she was afraid that she understood the implications of her completing it... and what it would mean to Xie You?

And it's a kowtowing-fest...

Oooh who's singing the song over this scene of her heading back to solve the final problem? It reminds me quite a bit of Farewell Love from Love Between Fairy and Devil... is it Faye singing this?

Oooh what's wrong with Yuanzhong? What was he feeling? Was it something to do with what Xie You hit him with and the fact that Xie You is now gone?

Bro's been sealed for 60 years and his first thought on being awakened is FOOD!! Valid, tbh...

Bit fucking rude to just rock up to somebody's/a stranger's house and just head on inside without being invited, Tanghua. Especially when you know the person you are looking for at that house does not want to see you...

Mmmm Tanghua makes a good point. Apologising in the hopes of forgiveness isn't entirely sincere. Apologising for your past actions without expectation of forgiveness, but because you sincerely regret those actions, despite knowing the past cannot be changed, is more so.

I'm still not sure Yuanzhong particularly cares to hear it though. And tbh chasing after him when he's made it very clear he doesn't want to see you still makes this feel somewhat selfish... like you are apologising not for his benefit but for yours, so that you can feel "better" that you apologised sincerely.

Oh wow, so the two generals who were part of the fake possession plot didn't die after all? Yuanzhong had Zi Fei save them and hide them away! He really is two steps ahead of everybody isn't he?

Oooooooh Yuanzhong is getting closer and closer to finding out the truth about Tanyin...

Ooh well I’ve talked so much about this one (see “oc: morgan wells” and “morgan wells au”) 😂 but I have some updates since then! I’m currently working on the 2x11 oneshot, and making headway on some of the s1 stuff, so that’s exciting! Jesse and Morgan are officially going to be at odds now, since they have to be before Jesse is rescued…and Jesse, in her anger at Morgan, may have figured out a way to (temporarily) block off their link 👀 (this is gonna be important for when they’re on the same Earth and need to do it to avoid debilitating migraines. Jesse and Morgan vibrate at different frequencies, so their link isn’t stable/compatible unless they’re on their own Earths)

Oh also, Barry and Morgan may become stepsiblings in the future 👀 that’ll be fun! Especially with the Savitar arc incoming (the stepsibling thing will happen after that, but since my reimagining of Savitar is Future Barry, he already knows that this will happen)

This is the WIP that’s been in my folder for a year now 😂 I’ve talked about it here, but basically, Iris takes a calmer approach to Barry in 5x18, empathizing with him and validating his feelings but also reminding him that Thawne is manipulative and Nora probably doesn’t know everything. Which…I hope is what she was trying to say in canon, instead of “maybe he’s not that bad” and dismissing Barry’s trauma along with her own for nothing more than cheap drama 💀

It also uses this post to attempt to explain some of Iris’s reasoning for dampening Nora’s powers. Grief is one reason, but…it occurs to me that metas being illegal could be another. Because…where is Team Flash? Where are their meta allies? Their biggest threat in the future is still Cicada, someone who steals metas’ powers…a villain like that would have an easy time finding a foothold in the wake of anti-meta laws, wouldn’t they?

(Also Nora is 18, as she will always be when I write about her, because I reject her being in her late 20s)

Iris opens her mouth to argue in Nora’s defense…but then reason sinks in. Nora’s a teenage girl, newly independent, and already on strained terms with her mother. There’s a very real possibility that she doesn’t know everything about her mother’s decision—or at least, that she doesn’t understand it. God knows I was never the most perceptive at 18.

the CK time travel AU!! If you’ve read the series, you know the gist: Sam, Tory, and Aisha stuck in the past after being transported from 2x4. So far, we’ve had them winning Daniel and his mom’s trust, antagonizing the Cobras, befriending Ali (Sam did, at least), saving Dali’s relationship from briefly exploding by forcing the explanation conversation to happen earlier, and Sam winning the AVT.

In the next installment…well, it’ll have an enemies to friends arc for Sam and Johnny, who are undoubtedly one of the cornerstone relationships of this series, Samguel will be hinted at more than a few times, the trio + Daniel will befriend the Cobras…and Sam will meet some familiar faces in the past!

Sam sighed, hopping around on her left foot as she slipped on jeans and a shirt. She’d gone shopping with Ali, Susan, and Barbara a few days before the tournament, but she’d only had a little pocket change from her own time, so she’d had to rely on the girls buying stuff for her.

It had felt a lot like charity, and it stung. Especially since she vaguely remembered that exact discomfort mirrored on Miguel’s face a few times, in the short time they’d dated.

Amelia Parker AU

Ooh well basically, Amelia (fc Millie Bobby Brown) is Peter’s 4-5-years-younger little sister who doesn’t get Blipped. She gets put into foster care and bounces between a few families before finding a home that she grows to love.

She’s friends with Gwen Stacy (fc Lana Condor) in her childhood, who moves away during the Blip after one of her parents gets Blipped. However, she comes back for college!

She is close friends with Norman Osborn (fc Xolo Maridueña), they meet in high school. Norman’s twin brother, Harry, was Blipped (possibly his mom too, I haven’t decided), so now his dad’s pressuring him to take up business as a career, which Harry has been primed to do, which Norman had not until now. Norman and Amelia bond, and presumably become something more eventually 👀

There’s going to be some Tension between Amelia and Peter in NWH, because Amelia finds out about Peter being Spidey…not from Peter himself, but from Mysterio’s video. Understandably, she’s hurt by it. Peter, meanwhile, still sees her as his baby sister, instead of who she is now, which is a few months older than him. It’s a trip 😂

“Uh-huh.” Her brother, as usual, couldn’t keep a single thing from her. “Well, May says you must like MJ, because she’s over all the time, and sometimes you get flustered when you talk to her, and your cheeks go all red—yeah, like that!” She pointed at him with a grin, as his blush grew by the second.

“It-it’s not—she’s really—stop laughing!” Peter protested, but Amelia’s laughter persisted in earnest.

As she said, it hasn't been exactly nonstop for them since they left, but she’s right. Even before they met, he’s almost always been on the move. And it does wear on him. He used to retreat to the coven on Nevarro, but that’s no longer an option. So he’s continued to throw himself—and now her—into his work.

So he’s tired, too. Can no longer deny it. And there is someone who could help refresh the both of them.

“Okay.”

Coordinates are punched in, out of her line of sight, and he makes the jump into hyperspace. She wordlessly watches him, an eyebrow quirked and face full of mild curiosity. When he doesn’t offer an explanation or response of any kind, she shrugs to herself and relaxes back into her seat.
