I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR EVERYBODY RESPAWNS AU VERY BADLY
thank u for your interest :)! sorry this got kinda longwinded i think. i never write stuff down lol…….
okay sooo i basically wanted an excuse to think about jack being alive post-canon, but i figured if u bring back the guy who had it coming its only fair to bring back other characters who should not have beefed it. and so! the best option seemed like the new-U system! i know they're just a game mechanic thats not supposed to be taken literally but if they're not gonna use it i am lol.
(putting all this under a cut)
roland not respawning after jack kills him in bl2 is kinda weird since he defs uses new-Us in bl1, but i could see jack using a jammer or some chump shit to interrupt the process. maya n lilith's deaths happen in ways were i……. get that they wouldnt respawn but their data could be still in the system somewhere. i also think non-vault hunter npc like scooter would have at least fast traveled once (most of the fast travels are also hyperion? i think? they feel like the same tech) so they might also have digistruct data. sometimes the system trips up, or u cant pay the fee ect ect, and u dont respawn, but ur up there! backed up in the damn cloud or some nonsense.
wilhelm, nisha, n aurelia are all perma-killed in canon, but are replayable fights, so TECHNICALLY they kind of are respawning they're just………… stuck. the new-U puts them back together but they cant move on for some reason. some goes for a lot of the other infinitely respawning bosses/enemies.
so the catalyst for this au now that bl3 is out is that post-canon, tannis is training her siren powers by shifting thru hyperion's systems, she decides familiarizing herself with the new-U system might be useful when she uncovers all these backed up and malfunctioning respawns, and realizes that if she just like. refreshes the system, all these people might come back. she consults with the other raiders about her findings, n that she probably COULD pick and choose profiles to revive their friends but not their enemies, but tannis is trying to AVOID playing god these days thank u very much.
ultimately they all want their friends back too much to pass up the opportunity and have tannis go thru with it. everybody respawns!! everybody gets a lot of confused echo-messages!! everybody cries!! the crimson raiders are reunited!!!
(this is the part where i talk abt jack and angel's respawns bc they're. specific.)
jack not respawning at a new-U is kinda weird with the context that he like. owns them? it tracks that he thought he was too good to need them, but hes also very paranoid, so what if he had his set up different? a failsafe in the Very Unlikely Event something happens to him, where instead of the nearest new-U, he's respawned at a station in a saferoom somewhere where he can be in immediate control of the situation again. it also tracks that he was very confident he could keep angel safe, but again. what if the very very worst happens? angel's respawn is set to be something only jack can activate, but he has to do it manually so no one else can get to her first. his ego was too big to see any flaws with this!
he doesnt think about the chance that something happening to angel while she's so deeply ingrained in hyperion's systems might mess stuff up. so when she dies, the saferoom goes dark, and jack's too far gone to notice. he's going to win the day and revive his daughter into the better, safer world he's going to build. this does not happen, he dies and his data has no new-U to go to so it just sits there. until tannis resets the system, which powers his saferoom up and spits him out. a new-U glitch he didnt care enough about to have anyone patch interrupts the reconstruction process and he loses his arm to it. he manages enough first aid to not just die again, and finally respawns angel, hoping she'll help him.
after respawning, once angel is able to get her bearings, she's devastated by the idea that jack won, but quickly realizes he DIDNT and he's very hurt and weak right now and this is her CHANCE. but she cant bring herself to kill him she wants to so badly but she just. cant go through with it. but she sure as shit can pistol whip him, collar him, and march him straight to the crimson raiders. once she finds them.
(there are some other specifics we have about this au, and lots we havent figured out yet but this post is already so long im sorry……..)
#im trying to avoid retconning too much canon and just working around it#but i never finished tales so. thats not on my mind with this au so much lol#i try 2 have fun......#borderlands#everybody respawns#long post

Negotiations - Adrian Chase x Reader
Masterlist
A/N: fr doing anything but writing requests rn yass slay go me i am so cool for that. idk where this came from i just lose my mind abt adrian being a slut™️ for praise like fr call him pretty or tell him he's a good man and he's DOWN to do literally anything so. here we are. i might do a part 2 to this bc i kinda like the A.R.G.U.S.!reader x adrian dynamic so uh. let me know <3
Warnings: sex references, language (i think that's all)
Summary: recruiting adrian chase into A.R.G.U.S. was never going to be a breaze, but it becomes less of a task once you figure out his weakness.
Word count: 3.8k
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
"I'm not telling you anything, motherfucker!"
You screwed your eyes closed when you felt him slam a gloved fist against the rickety old desk for the seventh time in ten minutes. It didn't scare you, or intimidate you, but it was doing nothing for the pounding in your head.
You understood now why no one wanted to negotiate with the dumbass in a mask sat lounging across from you, known as Vigilante. Or Adrian Chase. The first hint that it'd be hard work should have been when a whole room of A.R.G.U.S. agents fell deadly silent when Amanda Waller asked for someone to volunteer themselves to deal with him. You couldn't cope with the awkward silence, with her eyes scanning across the room, burning holes into everyone's skulls as you all desperately tried to avoid eye contact, so you did a stupid thing. Something that you'd come to regret within the hour. You raised your hand, mumbling a quiet 'I'll do it'.
The second hint should have been the various 'good luck's' you received from your coworkers as you waited outside of the small interrogation room, a folder in your hands. You were sure he couldn't be that bad. Sure they were just exaggerating, and that you'd be in and out within ten minutes. How wrong you were.
You sighed, rubbing your face with your palms. You'd been dealing with him for over an hour now, bickering and arguing and watching him flail his arms around or hit the desk. Exhaustion and confusion were the emotions currently ruling your mind, intertwining with one another to create the perfect headache. All he did was talk. You hadn't been granted a moment of silence since you stepped into the room. He was just talking and talking, but not once did he say anything useful. You'd heard all about how desperate he was for a pet parrot, how his father left his mother for another man (but it's okay because they're in love), and you seemed to know every piece of Fennel Fields gossip there was to know. You were tired now, though, and you wanted to bring things to a close as soon as possible.
"For the last time, I'm not asking you to tell me anything. I'm asking you to sign these forms. I— Did it never occur to you that we already know everything that went down with you, the task force and project butterfly?"
"No..." He mumbled. The thought of being watched had truly never crossed his mind.
"We had cameras everywhere, with our people watching at all times. We had Adebayo on the inside for the most part. A tracker literally inside Peacemaker's skull. A tracker in everyone else's phones. Oh, and we managed to track yours, too. You should really get a secure phone, and I'm being serious. It was so easy to trace you. I actually have no idea how you've gotten away with literal murder for so long."
"Fuck. I told Chris not to call Harcourt from my phone. I told him there'd be fuckin' agents snooping through my stuff. Looking at my selfies and fucking with my Angry Birds progress. Do you know how many hours I put into Bad Piggies?" He clenched his fists, rocking in his seat in anger at the thought of someone deleting his saved data.
"I mean... I think your Angry Birds data is fine, dude. That's not really something we're particularly interested in." You reassured.
He seemed to relax at that, unclenching his fists and allowing his shoulders to sink. "So... what do you know about me? Do you guys like, know my name?"
"Yeah, Adrian. We know your name. And we also know what you look like." You picked the brown folder up from the desk, flipping through it until you came across his mugshot, if you could even call it that. Eyes closed, a smirk on his lips and his hair pushed back. He looked way too content (and pretty) for someone who'd just been arrested. Though you figured you'd probably look that happy if you were about to kill Auggie Smith, too, so you couldn't exactly blame him. You dropped the folder down in front of him. "Look familiar to you?"
He shuffled forwards in his seat, leaning across the desk to get a look at the photo. It was the longest he'd managed to stay quiet, probably weighing up in his head whether lying to you was worth it. His gaze (hidden behind the red visor of his mask) flicked between you and the photo for a moment, before he sat back once again, folding his arms and staring down at the desk. "I have no idea who that is. I've never seen that man in my life. In fact, I couldn't even begin to guess at who that could be, because I've never seen anyone that looks like him."
He was a bad liar. But he'd given you something to work with, unbeknownst to him. You thought back to Leota, and how all it took for her to convince Adrian to kill Peacemaker's father was a little praise. You could definitely make that work to your advantage.
You allowed your shoulders to sink, your lips pulling down into a frown, before breathing out an, "Oh." It was laced with disappointment, and you knew by the way he lifted his head that you'd gotten his attention. "Well, that's a real shame."
"It— It is?"
You stared down at the photo, "Yeah, I mean... He's really cute. A pretty boy, for sure. I'm really into the curly hair. I'd love to know what it feels like. To grab on to it, tug on it while he—..." You sighed wistfully. "And his neck. I'd love to bite on it. I think he'd look so pretty covered in marks and bites. God. The things I'd do to him." You looked up, then, meeting his eyes (visor). He had been staring at you the whole time, but his intense gaze did nothing to deter you. You breathed out a laugh, shaking your head. "I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I— I just haven't been able to get him out of my head, y'know? I mean, the way he fought off those fucking white supremacist assholes in prison... It just— Really gets me going. The other night—"
Before you could finish your sentence, he'd reached up and ripped the mask off of his face, slamming it down on the table. Now, instead of a blue mask and a red visor, you were met with wide, sparkly eyes, bright red flustered cheeks and a slack jaw. He was looking at you with such lust and excitement, like you'd just offered to go down on him under the table, then and there.
You scoffed, sitting back and folding your arms, "You're really that easy?"
"Yes." He answered simply. "Can we fuck now?"
"No."
"What?! Why not?!" He whined, giving you the cutest little frown you'd ever seen. "You just said all of those really fucking hot things about how you wanna bite my neck and—"
"I didn't say those things about you. I said those things about the guy in the picture. You told me you have no idea who he is." You were having way too much fun winding him up, getting your own back for the hour you had spent listening to him ramble on and on about Peacemaker, being subjected to dick joke upon dick joke.
"But that's me! The guy in the photo is me! Look at the hair!" He pointed to the photo, then to his own head. "That's my hair! My neck! My face! That's me!" He yelled, gesturing wildly.
"Oh, so you lied to me, Adrian?"
"No! I— No... It wasn't lying. I was just... withholding the truth from you. It's different. It's not—" He sighed, his shoulders dropping as he leant back in his seat. "Look, I'm gonna be straight with you. I'm really fucking horny right now, and you're really fucking hot. So I was thinking, you and I should fuck. Right here, right now."
"What the fuck? Are you—" You stopped yourself from asking if he was being serious. There was no need to ask stupid questions. "No! I'm not gonna fuck you here!"
He raised his hands, "Okay, jeez! No need to get all shouty." A pause. "Would you fuck me somewhere else?"
"I—..." You had to take a moment to think carefully about your answer. He was pretty, and he did have a neck you'd like to latch your lips on to. He was funny and cute and you'd be lying if you said you hadn't watched the video footage from the prison more than once. Maybe Amanda Waller's terrifying stare wasn't the only reason you'd volunteered yourself into dealing with Vigilante. Fuck. You sighed, "I don't... I don't know. Maybe."
"So that's a hard maybe?"
"No, it's—... it's not a hard maybe. It's like... It's a soft maybe? Or just a... regular maybe? I— Look, will you just sign the damn forms?" You flipped through the folder until you came across the papers, pulling them out and placing them on the desk, slamming a pen down on top of them.
"Oh! So that's what this whole thing is about? The forms?" He scoffed, shaking his head.
You stared at him incredulously. You had not been sat in a stuffy interrogation room with the prettiest, most annoying man you had ever encountered in your life for him to have ignored everything you'd said to him. "Yes! This is about the forms! What the fuck did you think this was about?"
"I don't know! I just thought you wanted to fuck me!" He was giving you that frown again, looking genuinely and utterly disappointed that you hadn't brought him into an interrogation room alone to fuck his brains out.
"What?! I'm sorry, what part of 'Please shut the fuck up and sign these forms' screamed to you that I brought you in here to fuck you?"
"You were giving me the eyes the whole time!" He yelled, throwing his hands up in the air.
"What eyes?!"
"I don't know! The eyes you make when you wanna fuck someone! I swear, at one point you were undressing me in your head. Literally eye fucking me, and I'm not gonna lie to you, I felt totally objectified!" He folded his arms across his chest in a huff, looking away from you with a scowl on his features.
"Oh, I'm sure you would feel that way if anything you just said was true. You're—..." You screwed your eyes closed for a moment, sighing deeply when you opened them again. You'd sighed one too many fucking times now. Sure, he was cute, but right now he was frustrating the fuck out of you, and you wanted out. "Look, you have two options here. You can sign these forms and come work for us. You'll leave here a free man, but you'll be required to be on call as and when we need you. Maybe one day you'll get to live a life away from all of this shit. Or, you don't sign these forms and you leave this room under armed guard and straight into a pre-dug grave in the woods. Your call." You raised your eyebrows at him, awaiting his response.
You were just bluffing, at least you hoped you were. To be honest, you weren't sure what would happen to Adrian if he completely refused to sign the forms, if he refused to co-operate with Amanda Waller. She was ruthless, she had proved that when she was more than willing to allow an alien starfish to destroy a whole island nation. She even put her own daughter in danger. Whatever it was that'd happen to him if he left without signing (if he left at all), you knew it wouldn't bode well for him.
He seemed to be considering his options, from what you could tell. He was sat up straight now, eyes downcast and his eyebrows furrowed. You were just grateful for a moment of calm amidst the storm that had taken place over the last hour. He couldn't let you have that for too long, though. You watched as he looked up at you, a grin crawling across his lips, "You have pre-dug graves? That's cool as fuck."
Fucking really? That was his response to you mildly threatening him with death?
"Maybe we do, maybe we don't. You wanna fuck around and find out?" You were losing all patience for him, now. Not that you had much patience left, anyway. It was such a mindfuck, talking to Adrian Chase. You felt like you were constantly bouncing between wanting to punch him, thinking he was cute, finding him funny and wanting to the leave the room and never look at his face ever again.
His shoulders shook with silent laughter, "You're really fucking hot when you get angry."
You pressed your lips together, feeling your cheeks heat up. You were blushing. He'd called you hot and you were blushing. Your body had betrayed you. All this time, you hadn't let him get to you. You'd kept your cool. You'd flirted with him, told him that he was pretty and that you'd love to bite his fucking neck and now you were blushing? Not. Fucking. Cool. "If you think I'm hot now I'm gonna be on fucking fire, soon." You mumbled.
"Looks like you already are." He commented. His grin had turned into a smug smirk, and you wanted nothing more than to lunge across the table and wipe it right off.
"Can you just sign the fucking papers?" You asked, sliding them over to him, but he slid them right back.
"I'm not signing anything. I don't wanna work for you guys. It's nothing personal, I just don't wanna be under government watch any longer than I have to be."
"But if you don't—"
"I'm not signing. Final answer."
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck. It was totally understandable. You could empathise with him not wanting to feel monitored by fucking Amanda Waller on the daily. Hell, some days it even made you feel squeamish. You had no idea if and when she was listening in. You always felt like you were treading on thin ice. You could understand why he wouldn't want to sign the forms, to sign his life away to A.R.G.U.S. and to Waller, but you dread to think what would happen if he didn't. Sure, you were just bluffing about armed guards and pre-dug graves, but the more you thought about it, the more it became an actual possibility.
You had to give it one last shot.
You glanced up at the camera in the corner of the room, making a point to stare at it for a few moments. He noticed, following your gaze. Then, you looked back at him, raising one finger and gesturing for him to come closer. He furrowed his eyebrows, yet shuffled his chair forwards, the metal legs scraping against the hard flooring.
He leant in first, and you had to physically bite back a smile at how easy it was to capture his curiosity. You leant towards him, resting your chin in your hand, leaning on your elbow. "Look..." You started. "Just between you and I, this whole A.R.G.U.S. thing, the task forces it's— It's going to shit, to be frank."
"Okay...?" He mumbled.
"We lost Colonel Flag. Bloodsport, Harley... They're off the grid. We have next to nothing left. Right now, we're weak." You shrugged, tilting your body momentarily to look at the door behind him before directing your attention back to him. "We could really use someone like you."
"Wh— S— Someone like me?" Adrian asked slowly, narrowing his eyes at you.
"Uh-huh. Someone like you. I mean you're—... Just look at you. You're exactly what we need. You're so strong and brave, so... talented and smart." You reached out and grabbed his hand, playing with his fingers. He let out a shaky breath, and that was all the motivation you need to keep going. Slowly but surely, you were breaking him down. "Y'know, things are crazy now. We're up against threats we never could have imagined. A giant alien starfish, a fucking alien cow... We need someone like you to lead us. To really take charge when we need you the most."
"But... But you already have Peacemaker." He argued, albeit weakly.
"Hmph." You smiled at him. "You're cute. You really think Peacemaker has anything on you?"
He shrugged, dropping his gaze to your intertwined fingers, a light pink dusting his cheeks. "I... I don't know. I guess— I mean, he's really strong. And he's... He's good at leading teams. I don't— I don't think you'd need me..." He trailed off.
You weren't sure if it was genuine insecurity, or if he just wanted to hear more praises leave your lips. Either way, you were happy to oblige. You sighed softly, "Hey, don't say those things. We do need you. We're desperate for someone like you. Peacemaker is physically strong, yes, but he can be weak. You saw the way he crumbled when it came to killing Goff and his family. You did the job for him. You're so strong, mind and body. We need— I need you on our side."
He straightened up at that, pushing his shoulders back, tilting his head up to meet your eyes now. "You— You need me...?"
"Yeah. We have a real nice thing going here, right? I think we'd make a great team." You slipped your pinky finger between your lips, biting down on the tip gently.
"Fuck yeah, we would." He breathed out. He was so flustered, every word winding him up in the best way possible. Every praise pushing him closer to saying 'fuck it', to picking up the pen and signing his name on every page. He'd even sign the table, just to make sure.
"Call me crazy—"
"Never." He grabbed your fingers gently.
You felt heat rise to your cheeks for the second time. The whole situation was so... intense. In a really strange way. You were straight up manipulating him into signing the forms, using his weakness to your advantage. But part of you meant every word. You wanted him to stay, for his own safety and because you maybe, sort of, kind of wanted to keep him around. Possibly. Definitely. He was the most infuriating person you'd ever met, but he was cute and you wanted to know him. Outside of the interrogation room, outside of the suit, outside of the snark and bickering and the talk of fucking. You'd like to get to know him.
"I know we've only just met, and we've spent the last hour or so yelling at each other, but... I actually think you're really fucking cool. Funny. Pretty, too. And I can tell that you're a good man. That you'll do the right thing when the time comes." You let out a sigh, "You could be so much more, here with us. With me."
He blinked at you a few times, lips parted, his breath shaky. Then, he let go of your fingers, scrambling to pick up the pen. "I need to—... Need to fuckin' sigh these papers." He mumbled under his breath, pulling them towards him and signing the first page with no hesitations.
You sat back and watched him sign each and every page, a small smile on your lips. He didn't read any of it, it was like he was on autopilot as he flipped through the thin booklet. It was a good job you had read the terms of the agreement beforehand. There was nothing in there that you wouldn't agree to, and you weren't lying when you said he could walk away a free man, only contacted when he's needed.
He dropped the pen when he signed the last page and pushed the papers towards you.
"All done?" You asked. When he nodded his head, you picked them up from the desk and slipped them back into the folder. "Thank you, Adrian. For your cooperation. I'll send someone down here to escort you out while I get these papers back to the boss." You stood up, folder in hand.
"Wait, what?" He asked, so quietly. "You're leaving? I thought—..."
You walked around the desk, coming to a stop next to his chair. He was looking up at you with wide, doe eyes. He looked so fucking adorable. "You thought what?"
"Well— You just— You said all those things and now you're leaving. I kinda... I don't know. I kinda figured that we'd— Y'know. I thought we'd have some romantic moment where I bend you over this desk and fuck you senseless." He said it so innocently, like he had just suggested dinner and a trip to the movies rather.
You had to chuckle, though. It didn't surprise you that his idea of romance was fucking you over a desk. "Adrian, there's cameras in here, and audio recording."
"I don't care. That doesn't phase me. Not one bit. Actually, that turns me on even more. Let's fucking do it right here, right now." He slapped his hand down on the desk. "Get on."
You raised your eyebrows, "Dude, for the last time, I'm not fucking you in here, okay? I have to go drop these papers off." You bent down and pressed your lips to the corner of his mouth, running a hand through his messy curls (which felt fucking fantastic, you'd been resisting the urge to reach over and touch his hair the whole time). "I'll call you, okay?" You stood up straight and made your way to the door.
"But how are you gonna call me when you don't have my number?" He paused. "Wait... Is this one of those things where you say nice things to me and tell me that you'll call me but really you just wanted to manipulate me into doing whatever you want me to do? Because if it is then I'm cool with it because you're really fucking hot. Like, smoking hot. I've never met anyone like you. But I'd appreciate if you just told me."
You furrowed your brows, staring at him for a moment, "I... No, I meant everything I said. I'm gonna call you when I've finished work. We... we hacked into your phone so we have your phone number on record."
He broke out into a grin almost immediately, nodding his head, "Pulling it from the records. Fuck yeah. That's so hot. Okay, if you're gonna call me could it be in the next two to four hours? No pressure, but I've had a hard on for the last half hour and I'm not sure how much longer I can wait before I—"
You pulled the door open and slipped through it, pushing it shut before you before you could even hear the end of that sentence. You couldn't help but grin, eventually breaking out into quiet laughter as you made your way down the hallway.
Looks like you'd be sneaking out of work early. Definitely within the next two to four hours.

Okay yes hi hello this is me gracing y’all with my writing Bc I’ve had this idea forever!! This is going to be multiple chapters, here is chapter two. Enjoy :)
~
Technical Analyst (ch.1)
~
Short description: Spencer works as a technical analyst alongside Garcia and Kevin, though he hasn’t ever really worked directly with the BAU team, he works more in filing and researching. But when Garcia goes on vacation leave, and Kevin is busy with his own work, Spencer steps up to help- and that’s when he meets Derek Morgan.
———————————————————————
Spencer hated technology. He hated computers, tablets, cell phones, he hated it all. He hated everything and anything that isn’t on printed onto paper. So how the fuck did he end up as a technical analyst- whose entire job was based around proficient use of technology? In very short, budget cuts.
He originally worked in domestic terrorism, though he never fit in well there. He was a good worker, fast and able to do a lot. But his coworkers never let him feel included. He would hear them make plans without him, ignore him in conversations, only reaching out to him for his great memory to help solve a case. It was dehumanizing. He was just a brain for them, nothing more.
Then, the budget cuts came. And he got removed from the team, as he had the least amount of hours in the field- which wasn’t his fault. The rest of his team always forced him into the research position, so while they were off chasing the bad guys, he was stuck researching with a computer he doesn’t trust.
So yeah, he wasn’t an asset to them. But the bureau knew a mind like his in general was an asset, a fountain they’d like to keep a tap on. So they made work for him. It was mostly menial. He would assist with intense cases when necessary, but even then it was just research. No one knew what he would be like in the field, because they never gave him the chance.
Spencer tried not to think about how unfair this was, how stupid and purely tedious it was. He would rather be working as a T.A. at this point- which wouldn’t even be that bad. At least he gets heard and seen then.
~
Spencer’s normal day consists of going from his apartment to the bureau building, to directly into his cramped little office that was about the size of a jumbo walk in closet. A nice size to store clothes, but not so nice when you have to have a person, a desk, a chair, three computer monitors, two filing cabinents, a trash can, a fax machine, and a printer all crammed in there.
Yeah, his workplace was entirely too small. Thankfully it didn’t impact his ability to work, though, most the time Spencer finished his work quickly; and would end up reading. Spencer didn’t venture out from his office that much at all, (he always brought his own coffee so he didn’t have to worry about bugging the field agents.) the exception to leaving his office was to go across the hall to Penelope Garcia, his only sort of friend that he had at work. She was always so bubbly, it was a breath of relief for him to go see her- she reminded him of all the positive things, he definitely couldn’t do the job without her.
Not to mention, she had to train him from starting point zero. Spencer hated technology, after all. So he never made an effort to learn coding, hacking, how to re-route and track things. He knew nothing like that, hell, he struggles with his cellphone turning on sometimes.
Thankfully, she was able to get some sense into him, and he was pretty good at what he could do. Though he was still working out python coding, he was enjoying the learning process of using technology.
That being said- he still despises technology, and he hopes that once he leaves the job, he can throw away his very unnecessary but work mandated laptop.
~
Spencer made his way into the bureau building, messenger bag slung over his shoulder awkwardly as a thermos of coffee was held tightly in his right hand, while the left one reached for the door handle to enter. He got in no problem, security didn’t stop him anymore, thankfully. Though in the beginning, they did check him constantly, verifying that he belonged there. After all, he looked young, and he definitely didn’t belong in the bureau building. But then again, Garcia didn’t look like she belonged there either.
Security just made presumptions about people, he shrugged that thought off as he made his way to the elevator. Thankfully no one else was in there, he pressed the button for floor six, and the elevator doors shut.
The elevator whirred to life, taking him up to the sixth floor slowly. Thankfully today was a slow day, there wasn’t really any important case he had to work on. (Not like he ever really got given cases to work on, anyways.) So Spencer was hoping he would be able to finish his work quickly, as he had some books he brought with him that he wanted to read and re-read before the day was finished.
The elevator dinged, a signal it had reached its necessary location, before the doors finally slid back. He stepped out, taking his usual left down the hallway immediately. Forward through the glass doors was the bullpen with the agents who worked in the BAU. And god, what he wouldn’t give to be a field agent, working as a profiler. That’s why he wanted to join the bureau, and yet he was so close- his office only down the hall. But he was simultaneously so far, not being trusted by all the bureaucratic bosses, who didn’t know if he would be a good agent to warrant being put out into the field.
He hated it, but he tried not to think about it as he reached his office, Garcia’s door was shut, she was on vacation, or so he had heard. Spencer pulled on his office door, entering with ease as he moved into the cramped workspace.
Spencer sat his messenger bag down onto his desk, sitting himself down in his office chair and taking a minute to breathe in and out before continuing. Spencer hated this job. It was mind numbingly boring, he was so close to quitting. He knew the bureau would fight tooth and nail to keep him, however, but if that was the case, why not give him a better job- he didn’t want a nicer office, he wanted to help people.
He sighed, today was just one of those days where he was extra mad about not being treated right, he tried to ignore this thought process as he got ready to work; setting his coffee down by his computer mouse to his right, setting his messenger bag onto the floor next to him, pulling off the scarf that was wrapped loosely around his neck and hanging it over the back of his chair. Now he was ready for the day.
~
Penelope didn’t mean to forget to tell the team that she was going to be gone- she assumed they knew. At least Hotch did, all the rest of them knew was that she was going to take a week off to relax, they just didn’t know when (she had too many vacation days saved up, so she had to use them or lose them. She chose the former.) It was just a total brain fart moment on her part, so while she decided to hit up her favorite stores, spas, and websites; the team had no idea, they assumed she was holed up in her office, hacking away at whatever she normally does.
This would only show itself when Derek needed her, calling her office number and it going to voicemail “Hi, this is Penelope Garcia with the FBI and I’m too awesome to come to the phone right now, if it’s an urgent matter please call Aaron Hotchner-“ yeah, Derek hung up his phone by then, deciding to call her personal cell.
“Hi, hot chocolate!” She answered cheerfully, the sounds of people talking and laughing could be heard in the background, which Derek took note of. “Babygirl- your work phone sent me to voicemail, where are you?” Garcia was quiet for a second, before practically blowing Morgan’s eardrums out; “Oh- damnit! I knew I was forgetting something!” “Care to fill me in?” He asked her curiously, “Yes-“ Garcia sighed before continuing on, “Sorry. I’m taking those vacation days Hotch told me I had to use or else I’d lose.”
“So you’re not at the office.” He stated, “That I am not, I’m sorry I forgot to tell you! But my pal Spencer Reid should be covering for me.” “Spencer Reid?” Derek asked, unfamiliar with that person, “Why not kevin?” “Ugh, I don’t know- he’s doing that thing where he’s actually busy with other work for once. But Spencer is good, I taught him everything he knows- and I’m pretty sure he’s got three PhDs, so yeah, you replaced one genius with another- so don’t worry!” “Okay, well...” Derek took a second, “You sure I can ask Spencer about everything I’d ask you?” He meant work related, within being able to hack and get everything that Garcia would be able to get. Because Morgan knew that her talents were very special, and having someone else replicate them seemed near impossible, so he was a bit hesitant to trust someone new.
“Oh yeah- he’ll find everything easy peasy lemon squeezy. Don’t worry yourself, sugar.” “Okay, thank you mama. Have a good week of rest.” “I will! I have an appointment for a spa, and oh my god Derek- they do a seaweed wrap thing, isn’t that crazy?” “So you’re gonna get rolled up like sushi?” “No! Ew! Don’t compare me to raw fish!”
The phone call continued for a bit after that, as Derek wasn’t in an urgent matter. It was just a filing day at the office, before he hung up he asked where Spencer was, though; “Oh, he’s in the office next to mine, across the hall!” Garcia told him happily. Derek had thought that was a storage closet, but he didn’t tell her- instead thanking her and hanging up.
Now to pay this mystery computer whiz a visit.
~
Spencer was in the middle of re-routing a bunch of information that Garcia needed to send to her boss, Aaron Hotchner. Spencer didn’t share the same boss, since he was technically working in a more basic division of the bureau, he instead answered to Strauss- which was a royal pain in the ass, but he always turned his work in on time, came in when needed, he had never had to face her wrath yet, thankfully.
Spencer typed away, trying to get all the data to get to Hotchner as quickly as possible so he didn’t have to wait, though it wasn’t crucial the work did get completed right now. Spencer just liked to get things done.
A knock sounded Spencer out of his methodical typing, it wasn’t Garcia, obviously. And he knew Kevin was in a meeting right now with some IT people over his keyboard acting funky (Kevin could fix it by himself, but office administration forced him into talking to IT.)
“Yes?” Spencer asked curiously, turning around in his office chair, because he had no clue who it was that could be interrupting his work. The door pushed open, revealing a tall, classically handsome, muscular man carrying some files in his hands. Fuck, that would be Spencer’s luck. An attractive guy swooping in and making his IQ of one hundred and eighty seven go down to sixty in two second flat
“Hi- you Spencer?” The man asked, stepping forward into the cramped office. Spencer stood up instinctively, “Yes, I am. How can I help you?” The man handed the files over awkwardly, “I’m sorry, I usually ask Penelope Garcia for this but she’s on vacation and she referred me to you- I just need these put through VICAP, I’m not too familiar with the system as a whole, ‘cause Garcia usually handles it.”
Spencer nodded, taking the files and looking through them briefly, there were nine of them. “I’m sorry, I know that’s a lot of work to do... I’m sure I can figure it out myself-“ Derek started, doing his best to apologize. Little did he know Spencer could get this done within an hour or so.
“Oh no- not a problem at all, this should only take me about an hour, two at most, but that’s a generous estimate.” Derek raised his eyebrows, “An hour or two? Garcia usually finishes up this many files within three or four. How are you able to get this done faster than her?”
“I have an eidetic memory, which helps me recall anything that I read. I can read these files once and put all the information into VICAP knowing it’s accuracy is one hundred percent without having to double check, that cuts down my speed by half per case file.”
Derek looked confused and shocked. Yeah, Spencer could understand why. “Sorry, um. That’s a weird explanation, but it shouldn’t take me as long. I’m assuming you’re out in the bullpen?” Spencer asked him, putting the files down atop his keyboard.
“Yeah, I’m Derek Morgan with the BAU.” Derek finally introduced himself, reaching his hand out. Shit, this was Derek Morgan? Garcia has mentioned him a few times to Spencer, saying he’d love him “oh he’s so handsome, but so sweet and loving, like the hottest man on earth- I’d marry him in a heartbeat, but we don’t roll like that, Y’know?” That’s how she described him once, and of course Spencer remembered that word for word. Spencer felt like it was just his luck, that his only work colleague was best friends with a man so attractive that his mind isn’t working fully.
Not to mention he was in the BAU, Spencer guessed he was, since Garcia was their technical analyst. But still, it would be just his luck to know this insanely attractive man was part of the team he wanted to belong to so bad. Spencer wasn’t sure how to respond as he kept his composure. After all, yeah, Derek was attractive. But they probably wouldn’t speak again after this exchange. It wasn’t worth Spencer thinking about him, or how Garcia described him.
“I’m sorry, I don’t shake. But it’s nice to meet you, I’ll find you once I’m done. If you need anymore help, feel free to let me know.” Spencer told him, looking back at the files on his desk as a distraction away from this hot guy that was just standing so calmly in his office, as if Spencer ever had any visitors into the cramped space besides Garcia and Kevin.
By the time spencer looked back up, Derek’s arm was back down by his side. “Okay, thank you.”
~
Derek was surprised by their exchange, to say the least. How did he not know about this genius before? How was he not more well known, a memory thing, three PhD’s- that would be a useful asset? How come he was hidden away in a closet sized office? He had to know more. Even if it was nosy and stupid.
Normally, he’d call Garcia and ask her if it was about an employee. But in this case, he couldn’t. And he couldn’t go to Spencer, that would be weird.
So, he did the next best thing. He asked Hotch.
~
He knocked slowly on Hotchner’s door, hoping he wasn’t going to tell him to mind his business and not ask about employee facts when they definitely were irrelevant.
Derek was smart though, he figured out a foolproof way to play this. So when Hotch said, “Yes?” He came in, starting his plan into motion.
“Hotch, where’s Garcia?” He asked him, as if Derek hadn’t immediately checked up on his babygirl when he couldn’t find her. “Oh,” Hotch started, setting a file down that he had been looking over, “She took some vacation time.”
“So, who am I supposed to go to for computer help?” Derek asked, “Well,” Hotchner started, matter of factly, while he reached for a thin, unopened file on his desk. “We have a new guy helping us. Kevin’s busy with helping the child abduction unit reset their computers, as well as he’s in an IT meeting right now, so we have..” Hotch stopped, looking down to read the name off the file; “Doctor Spencer Reid. I’m sure he’ll be just as good.”
“Hotch. No ones as good as Garcia.” Derek pointed out, Hotch shrugged. “Maybe not. But this guy has a glowing personal history- and Garcia told me she taught him everything he knows.”
“What’s his personal history?” Derek asked curiously, stepping a bit closer but still trying to play nonchalance. “You know I’m not able to disclose that. You can go ask him for yourself.” Derek sighed. Of course Hotch wasn’t gonna tell him shit. He should’ve expected this. But sue him, call him hopeful. He was hoping he could’ve gotten some information on this mysterious doctor.
~
Derek made his defeated way back to his desk in the bullpen. And Emily, whose desk was directly across from his, immediately noticed his slight annoyance at Hotch. So she asked in a hushed voice as soon as he sat down;
“Did you get yelled at by Hotch?” Because in her mind, that was the most logical explanation that made the most sense. Derek just shook his head as a response, “No,” he clarified, “I was asking about our Garcia fill-in, and Hotch wouldn’t tell me anything.”
“Garcia fill-in? She’s gone?” Emily asked confusedly looking back to the hallway that led to Penelope’s office, as if she’d magically appear. “Yeah, but just for the week.” Derek explained, “She’s using those vacation days she had saved up. And Kevin isn’t our standby, ‘cause he’s busy. Instead it’s some new guy.”
“Who?” Prentiss asked, this time she was curious. And as if on cue, Dr. Spencer Reid came through the glass doors, and into the bullpen, carrying Morgan’s stack of files.
“Him.” Morgan pointed back simply as a response as he waved Spencer over.
~
To say Spencer felt out of his element by being in the BAU bullpen was an understatement, he felt like a fish out of water. Like he was suffocating and everything around him was too much.
He purposely avoided the bullpen, first reason being because he didn’t have any work with the BAU. But the second reason was he knew if he stepped in, he’d be more upset that he couldn’t be on the team. And the last thing he wanted to do was make his job worse for himself.
But, this experience was an outlier. And though Spencer can remember almost anything and everything, he planned on doing his best to purposely forget all of this. Every last detail.
He wasn’t going to let himself remember how there were field agents with real life guns holstered at their sides, how they were all sitting casually, looking over cases and drinking coffee, how they had the title of SSA (he only had SA, which he still was bitter about.), and then how at a moments notice they could fly away in a jet. How astonishing their work is, how jealous he is.
But Spencer entered through the glass doors nonetheless, looking around quickly before seeing Derek wave him over. Derek was sat at his desk, talking to a woman whose head was turned away from Spencer, all he could see was that she was his desk mate, and that she had black hair.
Spencer made his way over at a brisk pace, he just needed to get in and out. If he stayed for too long, he’d let himself remember to much.
“Hey, I- I got these into VICAP no problem,“ Spencer started as he handed Derek the case files, “But I noticed some errors on the date stamping on when you found the unsub so I corrected it myself, I hope you don’t mind.”
Derek shook his head casually, “Not a problem at all, I have a habit of messing that up. Thanks doc.” Fuck, ‘doc’? Spencer hadn’t been called ‘doctor’ in months, let alone ‘doc’. This was turning into a tailspin moment for him as he smiled awkwardly, feeling a blush rising to his face, he wasn’t sure what else to do. But he wanted to get out of there.
Thankfully, the woman with black hair introduced herself, as once he had rounded the corner to see Derek, he also saw her face. She was pretty, and had bangs. “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met. I’m Emily Prentiss.” She reached her hand over to shake Reid’s expectantly, “Oh I-“ Reid started, hands down at his sides, he wasn’t going to move them.
“He doesn’t shake, Prentiss.” Derek explained casually, “Oh,” Emily said, dropping her hand down, “Sorry! It’s still good to meet you, though. So I hear you’re covering for Garcia?” She asked Spencer, who nodded as he pushed a piece of hair back behind his ear.
“Yeah she’s taking vacation time, and Kevin is currently busy with helping the child abduction unit. So I’ll be you technical analyst for the next week or so.”
“I’m sorry, but how long have you been with the bureau? You look really young. I don’t mean to be rude I’m just-“ “You’re really asking him the rudest possible question, though, huh?” Derek joked to her, and she just smacked him on the arm lightly before turning her attention back to Spencer.
“No you’re fine to ask I- um, I’ve been with the bureau a year and a half, but originally I was on the domestic terrorism field unit.” He explained shortly, he didn’t wanna go into how he got on the bureau to begin with, or how he left the domestic terrorism unit. All he wanted to do was have this conversation end, or else it would just be that much harder to forget.
“Domestic terrorism? So how do you end up doing technical analyst work?” Derek butted in curiously, up until now it has been Prentiss asking all the questions.
Spencer stayed quiet for a moment, before finally responding, “If you need anything else, my office is next to Garcia’s. It’s been nice meeting you, Emily.” All he gave to Derek was a curt nod before walking out at the brisk pace he had entered with.
~
“Wow, well you fucked that up.” Prentiss spoke to Derek once she saw Spencer exiting through the glass doors, and turning down the hallway.
He sighed and rolled his eyes at her, “I’m just curious about him, can you blame me?” Emily just chuckled softly in return, shaking her head as she turned her chair around to face him more head on.
“Are you curious about him because he’s cute, or because he’s replacing Garcia for the week?” Derek blinked at her in surprise; “I never said he was cute.” He protested, more confused than anything else.
“You didn’t say it, but your body language did. You think he’s cute. You called him ‘doc’ and he almost blushed, and I have a feeling you’re gonna try and call him ‘doc’ again to see that same result- and you watched him the entire time, even if I was talking.”
“You think random bureau agents are cute all the time, what’s it matter?” Derek rebutted, trying to deflect and ignore, because Prentiss wasn’t making sense. Derek wasn’t attracted to Spencer, he didn’t think he was cute. Spencer’s level of attractiveness had nothing to do with his curiosity.
Derek did have a right to be curious for other reasons, anyways. This guy was replacing Garcia for a bit. It made sense Derek would wanna know more about the guy, even if he was or wasn’t attractive.
“Yeah, I find agents cute. But I don’t go asking Hotch about them.” Prentiss said with a smirk, Derek just shot her a glare. “I asked Hotch because he’s replacing Garcia. And I’ve not heard of the guy before.”
“Whatever you say, man.” Was all Emily replied with as she turned back to her work, Derek just rolled his eyes at her again before turning to his own computer.
Okay, so he knew Spencer was in domestic terrorism. It couldn’t hurt to just search it up, right? It wasn’t anything classified, he’d be able to see it, Derek hoped. He wasn’t meaning to be nosy, but he was just so curious and confused. He just had to know more.

Astronaut theory
first of all, I am confusion lol
SKZ broke me in a way that my mind is overthinking so many things that now I believe that anything from their MVs might be a sign. And may I add that Chan's recent live only made me even more confused PLS BOY IF YOU SEE THIS DROP THE THEORY YOU SAID WAS QUITE CLOSE TO THE TRUTH cause I'm nearly losing my mind, I need answers!!!!

so here I am again trying to understand their concept and trust me, it's not easy or short and I don't even know if it's right which makes me even more frustrated... also, we may have lost some important pieces to connect the whole story bc we don't know what was taken from the original MV with ot9, so yeah…
anyways... let me put a guide for you guys cause I'm not gonna write the title of the songs all the time, so AS = Astronaut; DK = Double Knot; MH = Miroh; SE = Side Effects; VS = Victory Song; YW = Yellow Wood (teaser); D9 = District 9; IAY = I Am You
Alright, let’s go back to the beginning! In I Am Not teaser we see that each one has a specific function inside the system or is doing sth very particular, Felix is dancing in front of mirrors on a rooftop (where they always are on their MVs) with a building nearby that shows a sign with FAKE on it – clearly indicating that either Felix is fake or their reality is fake, or maybe both; Changbin is in a room full of TVs like MIA; Seungmin is drawing sth that looks like a map (but I guess it was supposed to be sth else?) but he’s also the one in charge of the maps in Double Knot; we have Hyunjin trying to control a VR system, he looks quite frustrated with it, and after Hyunjin removes the headset, we hear a sound similar to when a program is being interrupted on tv and his image is frozen, probably bc he was disconnected from the main system.
and the most intriguing part: we have Jeongin in a bus – also sth reoccurring in their MVs – and he sees another Jeongin sitting on the bus stop, as if waiting for him. We all know by now that it’s a double, a clone, or whatever you may call it (like I mentioned previously on my Side Effects analysis that clearly shows they have ‘shadows’ like other selves copying their moves).
we don’t see what happens afterwards, but I’m gonna assume he finds out something is not right in the system and probably tells Chan (their leader) about it. Why I think this? Because in MIA they both sing the following lines: “Something is different, carefully look around you” (which is exactly what Chan does in D9) and “Something is changing, even if you hide it so hard, I can see it all” (which is what Jeongin does on the bus and also in Miroh, cause he’s the one in the control room, right?). But the thing is… I believe that the fake Jeongin is the one with SKZ in District 9. The double took his place after he got off the bus and is acting like Jeongin would, helping SKZ and all, but his line “better watch out” shows sth different, it seems somehow too menacing, almost like a threat – at least to me. So SKZ better watch out now cause there’s a fake among them, but SKZ is unaware
moving on.. it’s also in MIA that we see SKZ being duplicated – it looks like it can’t be helped. We know for sure that there’s a double for Chan, Woojin and Felix. In the MV it seems like Hyunjin also has a double that is watching himself from the other side of the door while the one inside the room says “Why are you staring at me again?” and then we see a surveillance camera (they’re onto Hyunjin, but Hyunjin seems to notice it).
this may seem dumb, but Changbin is duplicated in Get Cool (and like I said, any evidence is evidence lol). I don’t remember seeing Jisung, Seungmin and Minho being duplicated in any MV, and isn’t it weird that they’re the ones we see on the cage in AS?
in My Pace we have seven numbers shown behind them when they’re dancing: 137, 163, 191, 223, 241, 271 and 307. I thought they wouldn’t put this randomly so I searched what these number might mean and I found that they’re prime numbers (as you know, prime numbers can only be divided by themselves), and that prime numbers are very useful for creating keys to decrypt data by hackers. So I thought… what if Jeongin and Chan were trying to decrypt the system in order to mess with it but they need a key and Hyunjin was the key? And after DK happened, they managed to create glitches even more powerful than before? (like I explained in my theory).
anyways… moving on to Astronaut. ASTRONAUT = a person who is trained to travel in a spacecraft. But what if in SKZ concept an Astronaut is someone trained to travel their realities? And as we can see in I Am Not, Hyunjin is the one being trained in the VR apparatus.
also, he’s the one with an airplane behind him in Victory Song (and by now I think every little thing in these MVs are clues, sorry)
so what I take from this is that Hyunjin is like the tester of the realities they’ll have to face in order to escape District 9, like he is on a trial mode, if that makes any sense…
in the Astronaut MV, as we all noticed, we have some references from past MVs such as I Am You (the spinning thing); Victory Song (the red flares Chan & Jeongin are holding); Miroh (the boxes); Side Effects (the cart) and Chronosaurus (the plastics)
it’s interesting that Jeongin and Chan are the ones together when the music begins and I think this might mean sth because they’re always referenced as one, like in IAY; and Chan in AS is probably talking to MH’s Jeongin, because if they know what’s happening in the system, they might be able to keep in touch with each other even from different realities – but this is just me speculating too much!
in the MV we see 3 orbs: the 1st one is blueish with a green center; the 2nd is dark blueish/purple with a yellow center, and the last one is transparent with a black center.
so I googled those orb colors and found out that the first one may signify communication, neutrality, healing – might be applied to a master/guide; the second one may signify caution, insight, notice; while the last one may signify insecurity, being trapped or tortured. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I put it in here bc I strongly believe that these orbs represent Chan, Hyunjin and Jeongin, since they’re the ones that seem to be the focus of this storyline (and the color scheme of the scenes the orbs appear reminded me of IAY, 19 and SE)
going back to the AS MV, we also see Felix glitching like he did in MH and I was able to see in the background glasses being smashed, lightening, buildings, a road and a bridge, storm, moon, etc., and these are all elements that are present in their MVs, like showing what they already faced so far.
the cage scene made me think of District 9. When we first see it, Jeongin is the only one inside, but then we also see Han, Minho, Seungmin with him – and they’re slightly glitching, btw.
some other things happen to Hyunjin, he keeps on running, and now he’s outside on a dark road with a storm coming up – which reminded me of SE a lot, especially because of the two moons -, but he seems quite peaceful facing all those terrifying elements
he runs towards the end of the road that he can’t even see what’s waiting for him there – but maybe it’s because he already knows what happens next.
Hyunjin finds Chan in front of a door (maybe the exit?) and they all go through – to me it looks like Felix is the one about to close it, like he did with the gate in D9. Chan then shoots sth towards the sky like he did in VS (which caused a storm), but here it only makes a beam of light appear for them – as if they’re asking to go up? Like ‘beam me up Scotty’? you guys know this Star Trek reference, right? lol
and now we see the sky, but we don’t have two moons… I know it’s probably bc it’s morning, but in SE it was also morning and we saw two moons, so I’m assuming Hyunjin was able to find the finish line of the VR simulation (because I’m assuming that everything with the two moons is actually the VR)
at the end, we see Jeongin walking to the spinning thing like a glitch – like Chan also did when he went to the door, as if teleporting from here to there – and he’s alone, probably left behind. But why would SKZ leave him behind? Probably because they didn’t know he was there...
alright, so what does it all mean? I’m gonna try my best to comment everything and try to link the MVs with the lyrics to create a somewhat decent storyline.
on the released picture of the AS track list, this is what is written (it’s a rough translation, so I’m sorry if it’s wrong): “when we were happy together, we could do anything, where we chatted and laughed carelessly until dawn. Suddenly, I saw a bead… what is it? As soon as I got close, I heard a strange sound. At the end of the sound was a faint mixture of familiar voices calling my name. Without thinking, I started getting drawn by the sound”
To me, the first part means the I Am You setting. They were all happy after being free, they created their own world where they could do anything as long as they were together. In AS we see Hyunjin in this same environment and that’s also when the first orb appears. Hyunjin is attracted by the orb that could possibly be SKZ’s way to communicate with him inside the VR. Because remember, Hyunjin is there but what he’s seeing and experiencing is not real. He’s testing the ways out for SKZ. But he was so happy in that reality that he lost himself, he didn’t know what he was supposed to do anymore. And SKZ sent something to guide him out of this fake environment as we see in AS. He then started his journey back to where the real SKZ are, going through all the tokens from the realities he’s been through (like the boxes with the confusing mazes, but that are easily destroyed bc is not real; the cart from SE, the gate from D9, etc…). What also gives him hints is how the members start to act after he begins his running in AS. After he destroys the boxes, Felix is standing there like a heroic figure, glitching with Changbin, looking almost unapproachable or as if he can’t see him. we see Chan on the floor, so Chan is probably grounded like Hyunjin.
then he sees his friends trapped inside a cage. But the thing is that this cage is really ridiculous, any of them could climb or help the other to get out of there, so I think they’re trapped bc they’re not real, it’s all a simulation, – except for Jeongin, but I’ll get to this point later on, hold on!! – and this cage represents D9.
Hyunjin runs endlessly until he reaches the road I mentioned already, and he finds Chan, they all go through the door (how could they if four of them were trapped? unless nothing of that is real) and they are all dressed in white, like when they escaped D9, dancing happily on the rooftop.
to me, after Jeongin got off the bus he realized the system’s plan and told Chan (their leader), and they came up with ideas to escape, but they needed someone that could control the reality, and Hyunjin was being trained for it – although he was frustrated with it - so they asked him to go unlocking worlds (or roads, or whatever) and he did it, but as farther he went, he started getting lost in the system bc he didn’t know who he was anymore, was he a clone already? What he’s seeing is reality or virtual reality? What’s the truth, what’s the answer?
Chan and Jeongin were able to guide Hyunjin throughout the MVs to continue with their plan, but Hyunjin’s mind was starting to lose itself, although he had a feeling that something seemed off… And Astronaut is nothing more than a recap of all what they’ve been through and Hyunjin’s journey to the unknown in order to find SKZ again and help them escape.
so what about that last scene with Jeongin? Well, I think the Jeongin in white clothes with them at the end is not the real Jeongin, and the Jeongin we see sitting alone is in fact the real one that is trapped inside the VR. Chan was guiding Hyunjin but lost Jeongin in the meantime and didn’t realize it or Chan knows it and is also a clone anything is possible, because to me the Jeongin we see in their MVs isn’t the real Jeongin since D9, like I said in the beginning of this analysis. Maybe the reason Seungmin and Minho were found on DK by the drone is bc Jeongin was with them and he’s part of the system? The others weren’t seen except for these three. I also believe this hypothesis because the gate in AS represents D9 and Jeongin is the only one moving after Hyunjin leaves, probably showing that the real one was lost in D9, but since there can’t be two “Jeongins” in a same place, he needs to wait for them to realize that they’re dealing with a fake one and come back for him.
alright, to summarize this huge analysis...
EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED DIDN’T HAPPEN!! HYUNJIN WAS DECRYPTING AND TESTING THE REALITIES (IN THE VR THING) THEY HAVE TO FACE IN ORDER TO ESCAPE AND OVERTHROW THE SYSTEM AND NOW THAT HE’S FINISHED THE TRIALS HE’S BACK TO DISTRICT 9 AND CAN SHOW SKZ THE RIGHT PATHS TO FOLLOW BUT HE DIDN’T REALISE THAT THE REAL JEONGIN IS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VR AND HE LEFT HIM BEHIND AND NOW SKZ WILL HAVE TO GO BACK TO GET HIM OUT OMGGG I CANT ANYMORE
how else would we explain Hyunjin, Jeongin and Chan’s hairstyle looking almost the same as the one they had in D9?

some other thoughts I had: what if they’re duplicating themselves to leave the clones on the system so the real ones can escape?
ASTRONAUT also has 9 letters... this might mean something?
why is Chan singing all the time “I’m not me” in the background of Mirror? can he be trusted? I’m still not sure about Chan’s role in all of this bc he seems shady like Jeongin lol sorry Chan
from the Victory Song unveil track we have Chan saying this “we are Stray Kids, the owners of Clé. Roll the dice. Our beginning is District 9. We break the frame, escape from the system, and go beyond the fixed line towards STAY. We came to listen to Victory Song. So ring the 승전가”. Isn’t it weird that he says “break, escape, go” instead of “broke, escaped, went” ?? he only says “we came” bc the question is about their entrance in Miroh and Victory Song is after it, but if everything else also happens after D9, shouldn’t the other verbs be on the past tense too?
in Chronosaurus we see someone picking up three keys from the floor and I’m pretty sure it’s Jeongin.
one key for each – Chan, Hyunjin and him. But what can they do with the keys? I thought that maybe they could go spread themselves through the realities these keys unlock and place signs for them so they don’t get lost or forget about what they’re doing, like easter eggs? there are some black balloons on SE that reminded me of 19
in TMT there’s a billboard that Chan sees saying “do what you wanna do” (a message he left for himself there? and look at the background, it’s the space)
and what about Hyunjin? I’m not sure, but maybe the scene where we see him laying on the grass at the end of SE is actually because he just arrived in that reality and lost the key of that reality on that weird pond??? is the easter egg in SE himself??? I still think it’s weird the way Jeongin looks at him and smiles brightly in this scene lol
this is just what I was able to put together, but I still have a lot of questions and a lot of concerns, but unless Chan spills the tea I don’t care if it’s hot we’ll stay clueless about all of this lol
and he says we’re not clowns… right…

week-by-week playback: crash landing on you.
just to preface, pardon that some of this may not be cohesive. i made this a separate post because otherwise the collective review would be insanely long. and i wanted to keep a space where i just let my thoughts from each episode exist, so here it it.
if you want to see my semi cohesive thoughts from the themes and characters here is my actual review. crash landing on you.
*spoiler alert*
ep 1-2 my goodness this man, hyun bin (aka ri jung hyuk in this drama) is dreamy as ever. *like swoons*. son ye-jin is perfect, i loved her in "something in the rain” and this character is completely different and i am loving it. this free easy going aide of this actress. she is adorable and i love how in a crazy situation the first thing she thinks is ‘you’re totally my type’ bc seriously a girl after my own heart.
now the concept is completely ridiculous but i’ll jump on the band wagon and live my best life bc i think this is going to be a unique concept that i fall for. the fact that she doesn’t listen to him and goes directly into north korea i’m like girl you’re crazy.
i love how they added the clips at the end of the episode and how he was laughing at her. precious how he’s already falling for her quirky side. i am intrigued to see where their relationship first started like how did they meet before how did he leave north korea and enter back in as a general captain?!? so many questions and i’m so excited.
ep 3-4. kim ju-meok (captain ri’s company of 5) saying i haven’t seen any drama characters that don’t fall in love in that situation. hahaha same dude same. when the guy was spying, jung man-bok, and trying to keep up with the drama plot. hahaha
i loved when the ladies tried to see her and she made him act all sweet walking him out the door.
he said all nice things to the plant!!!
ep 5-6. his relationship with his fiancé is soooo weird. and her family must be super high up in north korea. same to his family though. his mom has an ostrich in her yard!!! i love how they got stuck on the train on their journey to pyeongyang. i love how he jumps to his feet to get her anything she wants. they’re precious together. i’m excited to see where it takes us bc now that the man on the run knows that she is there, there is leverage. he was the first guy she waited for TT. i’m really enjoying the little tidbit scenes at the ending.
he’s gonna keep a photo of her even though he said it was silly to get a momento. the clarification between destiny and coincidence.
ri jeong-hyeok do you want to be my destiny. ‘as long as you stay in my sight you’ll be safe, as long as she is in my sight i will protect her.’
ep 7-8. her character growth since meeting him is extensive and i love to see this side of her not as callused and closed off but rather vulnerable.
‘so happens that you’ve become a special person to me
for once i had to protect you too.’
the heart on his uniform she stitched up.
it’s his brothers song. TT
him going to find her bc she might have been waiting in him. he’s not wrong. and her being concerned with him not being in the hospital bc of his injuries.
your life here might be shattered bc of me.
and i don’t like that.
she’s gets kidnapped. after all this. she even decorated a christmas tree and got him a gift.
held my breath for a solid minute after that gunshot.
ep 9-10. yes his freaking dad in these moments where i’m crying just provides the perfect comedic relief bc he can’t freaking believe what’s happening in front of him. “you make my heart flutter. the other dude.” even when you didn’t know it you saved my life. when he played the song for the first and last time for his brother.
how would i forget about a woman who feel from the sky? -jeong-hyeok
i didnt fall. i descended. -se ri
she freaking wrote i love you with the books.
his brother was such a good person and got the medicine for his friends baby.
when they had to say goodbye to each other. and when their eyes met once again.
ep 11-12. this episode. i loved seeing how the comrades reacted to the daily living of those in seoul. they were too precious. absolutely terrifying that cheol-gang made his way into a security. like what kind of background check did they get?!? like. come on.
cannot believe that jeong-hyeok found her in an echoing parking garage. it’s destiny.
seo dan got the term ‘sweetmeat’ from seri stop it!!
all of the almost encounters had me dying, while the boys were trying to track down captain ri. the gaming to ignoring the call for chicken.
they wanted to recruit kwang-beom for an agency. they’re like your cover was blown bro.
talking about a future when he didn’t go back. married with twins. and he’ll play piano again.
them dresses as south koreans got me like. my goodness. they’re too much. them all hugging was beautiful. he missed them all so much.
her mother left her at the beach. like what the even. her sister in law gave him her address what the even, this side of her family is wack.
they surprised her for her birthday. my goodness. this moment i’m weeping then it’s like dang that would have been cute.
i’ll be thankful the person i love is still breathing.
and it will be a good year.
-ri jeong hyeok
ep 13-14. the couple rings.
our boys. slaying it. my gosh. when they’re all surrounding her after she was shot. and crying my heart broke.
i never played the piano. and i’ve never told anyone. until you crash landed into my word one day. that’s how i lived. but now i’ved changed. even if i have to worry about losing you, i want to have you in my life. even if it breaks my heart bc it’s a dream that can’t come true, i’d like to sincerely dream of a future. so please live. and listen to my words i still have stories that i haven’t told you yet. -ri jeong-hyeok
when she finally woke up and he ran in. the fact that the mole wire tapped the room while she was unconscious. and then the tape of her mom telling her and wanting to thank seri and ask for forgiveness, and also the fact that her oppa and sister in law wanted her gone...wack.
when he was showing her his scars and the boys walked in and thought something scandalous was up, i died laughing.
i love them together. “they’re curious about your face. i understand bc you look great from the back.” -seri with regards to the paparazzi posting a photo of him online.
the split second after cheol-gang died and ri jeong-hyeok contemplated ending his life, because he didnt know what would happen when he went back to north korea.
while seung-jung was hiding in the market after he ran away from his captors, and the orphans collectively sang that sad song to distract the officers and protect him.
when seung-jung gave seo dan the ring that she picked up from the store so he could give it to seri who gave it to the pawn shop, and he picked it back up and proposed to seo dan. i weeped, because why does this have to be so hard.
when the NIS was collecting data on the ‘spies’: purchases at internet cafe, downloading videos of his favorite drama star, chicken restaurant, etc. i can’t.
him deciding to go protect her even though he missed his chance of leaving the north with his life. and that she would be the one crying for him once he died made him sad and happy.
seri would make the same decision again. to meet the people and keep the experiences she had. “the wind blows to move in, not to stay.”
the exchange at the boarder was all too much. they all had to say goodbye so quickly.
ep 15-16. her family is wack. thank goodness seodan was able to get her revenge and get all the information from the chinese gang to turn over her older brother.
he wrote her back in the bookshelf. and is sending her notes after he’s gone. her breakdown in the kitchen when she saw all that he left for her. and receipts.
them going for walks at the same time of day to have a shared moment.
all of captain ri’s men reminiscing of the good things seoul had. internet. electricity.
i love that seri made a limited edition product to pay tribute to the ladies that helped her in the north.
he got her a freaking plant. i can’t. she is carrying for the plant like a baby and taking it around with her. got to say nice things to it. i knew it the last thing she said was rihoseok. (honestly wanted it to be a tomato plant)
“season changed but messages kept coming.” i really love this.
“it was eldewiss let’s meet in the country where these flowers bloom.” tell me they meet. please. oh please.
when ri jeong-hyeok broke the news that he was moving on to become a pianist and that the new captain is not a handsome man. the ladies of the village faces just dropped. i can’t.
“he found me every time. and i’m sure he’ll find me again someday.” -seri
“edelweiss symbolizes precious memories. what should i do jeonghyeok? it’s impossible for me to herons your just as a memory. so even if we don’t meet this year, maybe next year. if that doesn’t work too, i’ll anticipate the year after that. until the day you find me i’ll be waiting and praying.” -seri
stop it she is going to go paragliding and meet him again. come on.
eun-dong saying he misses his sister. i love them.
most wonderful two weeks of the year. stop it they have a house together in switzerland. and they are living happily ever after.
i really don’t want it to end...

How are you staying active during quarantine? I just tipped into 180lbs, highest I've ever been, and I'm getting really depressed about it 😔 I've only gained about 7-8 pounds due to the quarantine, but back in January I was at 163, and I'm really struggling with the fact that I'm back up again after how hard I've been working. It feel like I can't get the weight to stay off, now esp. (Sorry for the mini rant, but I actually followed you Bc of your fitness posts, I appreciate them a lot
Many hugs to you, Anon, and there is no need to apologise 🖤 You are definitely not alone. I have also been struggling a lot with my weight recently (I have deliberately been putting on muscle, about 25lbs of it, but it is still a struggle to do so and to feel sometimes like my work getting down from 210lbs is being reversed--I am up to 145-150lbs myself, even though I still fit most all of my clothes from when I was 122lbs), but please do not be too hard on yourself! Some of that weight gain might be muscle, but I understand how frustrating and demoralising it can be nonetheless, I really do. Like... I really, really cannot emphasise enough how much I understand and how much I get what you’re going through right now, and I wish with all my heart that you weren’t going through it, because it hurts and it makes you just feel awful and so I am really and truly wishing you all the best right now, but also I have the utmost faith in you and despite the setback it is nothing that you cannot fix going forward 🖤
To answer your question, I’ve been doing a mix of things, but the two biggest things for me are that I built myself a routine, and I try to just walk everywhere that I can. Also, I track in an app called MyFitnessPal, because I need to hold myself accountable. The gyms in my city have recently opened back up and I have usually been going five times a week (reduced capacity and you can only go for an hour, but I use every second of that hour because cardio is how I best manage OCD/PTSD/anxiety, and I love love love seeing some beloved familiar strangers at the gym--we all wave happily to each other, since we tend to book the same time slots 🖤), but before they opened up my biggest friend was just walking. I have a lot of joint issues due to my improperly healed torn hip flexor and my former obesity, so I can’t run, but you don’t need to run. Walking is your best friend. Or even household chores. I used to work for a landscaping company, so when I can I will help with the yardwork (even though I dislike it--I try to find ways to make it more fun, and I genuinely enjoy being out in the sun, so there’s that at least). I make sure things stay tidy, I’ve been writing a lot and trying to see friends when I can, or get out to hike in the mountains. If I go grocery shopping and I’m waiting in a line, sometimes I’ll lazily bicep-curl my grocery bags. I’ll walk to the mailbox, I’ll walk through the neighbourhood, I’ll walk to the grocery store or to the nearest gas station. My dogs are old so I cannot walk them anymore, especially since we are under a heat wave, but I’ll get up and play with them. Bottom line: if I could find somewhere to walk and an excuse to walk there, I would. When I couldn’t, I would sit down and exercise by following my favourite home workout YouTube channel. (Seriously, she is amazing; I’ve followed her for years, since her channel was just starting out. I just got a half-sleeve tattoo and cannot use a lot of gym equipment at the moment so I have gone back to her videos, as she provides a lot of modifications and alternatives and just so many good at-home exercises that you don’t need any fancy equipment for.)
The routine is the most important part, though. I need structure, and if I have structure I find that I am less likely to binge, because my brain won’t freak out as much (whether out of boredom or something else).
You might know this already but I’m a (recovering) binge-eater and I also eat when bored or stressed, so I’ve just been trying to occupy myself with things other than food. I had a really bad spot for awhile where I was doing really, really poorly in that department an binged every day, but I finally put my foot down last week and this is the longest that I’ve been binge-free in months. I also have BDD, which I am working on (hard going when my attempts to ask the people around me for help often fall on deaf ears).
I think it’s important to realise that fitness and weight loss isn’t always linear. There will be times where you falter and stumble and when that happens it’s important not to punish yourself--instead just accept and acknowledge that it’s happened and adapt for the future. Like a little AAA battery! Bodies are also weird, and sometimes they react to things strangely. I’m not a professional in any way, but since working to put on some muscle I have noticed that women’s bodies at least like... they are strange things sometimes. And I know it sounds weird, but try not to put too much emphasis on a number on the scale. I’m not saying “get rid of the scale!” or “smash the scale!” or anything silly like that because I think to some people having the scale is really important, so long as it doesn’t become something obsessive you fixate on (I have severe OCD, professionally diagnosed, so easier said than done, but it’s doable by adding it to the routine and picking one day a week where I check in), but make sure it doesn’t become a focal point of your weight loss.
Instead, just notice how your clothes are fitting. If you have body tape, you can use that too. Pick a favourite pair of jeans and just see how they fit over time, or a favourite bra, or something that doesn’t stretch as easily as yoga pants. Again, some of your recent weight gain might actually be muscle mass, especially if you aren’t noticing a lot of change in how your clothes from January fit. When I first hit 145lbs when I was first losing the weight, I didn’t look like I do at my current 145-150lbs, after having got down to 120 and then making the decision to put some muscle back on. Save for some jean shorts that I bought at my lowest weight, because I build thick muscles in my thighs, I still fit all the clothes I bought and wore at 120lbs--including my fitted dresses, my Stampede jeans, most of my bras, and the pair of “check Lulus” I bought because those things are without mercy. I also have a couple really good friends I check in with who know me and who I can trust to tell me the truth when I cannot perceive it myself. And, when I’m being honest with it (which I am trying really hard to be again), I have MyFitnessPal, which has been with me through thick and thin.
If you can, I would recommend a good fitness tracker, too. Fitbit is really good and user-friendly. I have a Garmin now, because Fitbit doesn’t make adult watches or watch bands small enough for my ridiculous baby bird wrists, but I had my Fitbit for years before that and it saw me through the vast majority of my weight loss/fitness quest. It can be very helpful to just help you gauge where you are; most people grossly overestimate how active they actually are, and if you’re up for it, a tracker can be helpful in giving you empirical data from which you can base some better decisions around.
And just do you best to stay active. I do not know if you have any gyms where you live or if they’re open, but I would really recommend getting a membership, though I totally understand that gyms are not for everyone. If not, I really do recommend checking out that youtube channel I linked (Koboko Fitness), and just doing your best to walk wherever there’s the option to walk (and it won’t cause undue hardship/pain/etc). Lift some boxes around the house. Turn doing the dishes into a stretching exercise. If you’re familiar with yoga, do yoga (I do not because I am not familiar with it and it can be dangerous to people like me with joint issues to start if you don’t have anyone around who can tell you if you’re doing it right, but my younger sister is working on a cert and she does yoga daily, even with the baby bump). Many gyms are offering online classes right now too, including the gyms I go to (GoodLife Fitness in Canada), so they can be worth checking out too!
But also just know you’re not in that boat alone. Many people are struggling right now, including myself, so if you ever need to chat my inbox and my DMs are always open (and I can toss my Discord handle out too if that helps), because a support system can really make all the difference. I never had one for the longest time, and so when I fell back on old, bad habits it took me awhile to pull myself out of it (again). I really can talk about this forever but I will stop myself now because I am a chatty cathy but! Please feel free to send messages whenever you want, Anon, and please be kind to yourself! I know it’s scary and I know it’s disappointing because I have been there many a time but you can do this, I believe in you! You’ve had a setback but it isn’t anything that can’t be fixed/corrected and I have faith that you will be able to get back on the proverbial horse and mow down Alexander’s armies in a way that would make the Achaemenids proud 🖤 I hope this helped in some way and that I was able to answer your question!

|| so uh... as you can see, I added a lot of muses. Why? i wanted to make a comeback with style, hence why so many, i was thinking deeply about children i wanted to write during my exams and here we are now. the other reason why i took a bit to return after my mid-terms were over was bcs i had the *brilliant* idea of moving every single bio to google docs so... that took many days to accomplish...
but here i am! i am free ( mostly ) and wanting to write and get back on track of things. not even this update will stop me. what i will say tho, is that my usb drive, where i had all of my icons, went poop. if this friend of mine can do literal magic and recover all of my data, i won’t be roleplaying with icons for a good while. remaking all of those will take a while and now the motivation to do so is on the floor, losing them was NOT something i wanted. i apologize if you’re someone who uses icons, i miss them too, but i will embrace the iconless life to not go INSANE over the lack of icons. i just want to write, not worry over my lack of icons, if the lack of icons bothers you so much, you’re free to unfollow me.
