Nipson - John Tavener
Am OBSESSED with this track! You have Fretwork with the mysterious viol melodies and Michael Chance singing COMPLETE GREEK! I can’t only picture a Byzantine baptismal font with the palindrome inscribed over it. I also imagine those partially submerged temples, mysterious rivers, and flooded grottoes.

Herbert Nipson (July 26, 1916 - December 10, 2011) was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and grew up in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn State, where he majored in Journalism. The first known colored Penn State Collegian newspaper reporter (1936), he was selected as assistant sports editor in 1939 and joined the paper’s Managing Board. He lettered on the cross-country track team and participated in the wrestling squad. He became the first Colored student in the nation elected to Sigma Delta Chi, the National Journalism Honor Society. Because Penn State did not note his race on the nomination, Sigma Delta Chi did not realize they had a colored member until 1946. In 1949 he was hired as associate editor of Ebony magazine and was promoted to executive editor in 1972.
When he joined Ebony magazine’s editorial staff in 1949, the publication, founded just four years earlier, had a target readership of urban African Americans, and its stories reflected that interest. As the civil rights movement surged to the forefront of American consciousness, he helped push the magazine to a broader audience, with more focus on rural African Americans, and branching out into sports, the arts, and entertainment. By the time he retired in 1987, after 15 years as executive editor, the magazine enjoyed national recognition and mainstream appeal for both its issue-oriented reporting and its cultural coverage.
He received the Capitol Press Club’s Outstanding Journalist Award in 1965 and after 38 years and 456 issues of Ebony, retired in 1987. He married Velvin Nipson (1842-2002). They had two children. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

(Sator Karesi, Kaynak: M Disdero, CC BY-SA 3.0, Wikimedia Commons)

emcads:
𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 as he failed to turn ‘round as she’d expected soon bubbled away into shared, somewhat AWKWARD laughter –– the brushing of skin to skin sending that SAME THRILL that it always did, heightening into the dull roar of the ocean surf as he shifted closer. It’s the same body that it always is. The same one you’ve known and touched before. But it wasn’t. Not really. Not with his water-slick skin that flushed in the evaporating heat, tiny soap bubbles clinging to his chest. Oh, God help me. He’s beautiful.
❝ yes, I … I can’t say I’ve shared one before either. ❞
With decision, Esmeralda changed tactics –– involving considerably more accidental brushing and bumping, though she couldn’t say she truly minded, as she moved away from the back of the tub to meet him in the center, rising to her knees to better reach. ( and to save him the ache of bending his neck. ) No, of all the intimacies she’d had before this marriage, a BATH was certainly not one. Natural consequence of lovers engaged in piracy.
She allowed herself a beat, a moment of rest to take in the very lovely sight before her in their new proximity, eyes drifting from eyes to lips and back again, then resolved herself to the task at hand. At this rate of distraction it’d take them all evening to conclude a simple bath. Esmeralda cupped her hands, scooped up the warm water, and without looking away, let it fall in gentle cascade over loose brown locks. Nipson anomemata me monan opsin.
This was odd.
Very odd. But it wasn’t a sense of oddity that settled wrongly inside him. In fact, that was what was so strange about it, for it was a pleasant oddness that took root in his heart.
James kept his gaze focused on the bubbles that rested on the water’s surface, refusing to allow eyes to roam, not even when the water stirred and familiar skin brushed against his own as Esmeralda came closer.
His fingers twitched almost automatically as the small distance that separated them was reduced, almost as if it were written in the stars that James had to reach out to Esmeralda the moment she drew near, and he found himself clenching them in order to stop them from drifting. The demand to touch her was loud, far too loud. Had they been under sheets instead of water, James would not have hesitated, but here? Like this? Doubt plagued him.
So, James kept himself still as water soaked his hair and trickled down the back of his neck, washing away the last bits of Commodore that clung to him and leaving only James to be free of the weight of duty until the morrow.
There was no stopping his hands now, as his eyes fluttered close so as to avoid the sting of soap. Calloused palms slowly drifted through water until they found the curves of her hips, settling there like they were always meant to be there.
#{ emcads }#{ v: i found love in your laugh | marriage verse | emcads }#{ t: bathtime with the pirate wife }#{ queue actually were telling the truth }#// this is all going to end innocently i'm sure

Reliquie come talismani
Mystére, spettacolo simbolico in Francia; auto sacramental, sacra rappresentazione in Spagna; passionsspiele, mistero della passione in Germania; myracle-plays, rappresentazioni sacre in Inghilterra.

NAAAW: A Magical History
Upon the ratification of the thirteenth amendment, African American wizards decided to come together and create an organization focused on their wellbeing, currently known as the National Association of African American Wizards aka NAAAW (previously known as NANW). Haywood Bellgrove, Clara Little, Willie Nipson, Ruth Anne McCoy, Mamie Freeman, twin brothers Herman and Thurman Gott, and Josephine Delonge are the founding members. This group of formerly enslaved conjurers, freedmen, and Underground Railroad participants gathered to ensure the safety of their people throughout the United States by working together to fight against unjust laws both in the No-Maj and magical community. NAAAW’s founders felt that they were best equipped to handle community grievances and the mounting racial tensions that went largely unacknowledged by the current magical government.
Originally modeled after tribal councils, the representatives from each region of the United States gather together to vote and make decisions on behalf of their constituents. With the abolishment of Jim Crow lessening its grip on the African American Community, NAAAW has become more willing to work with MACUSA (The Magical Congress of the United States of America), especially members in Washington D.C. and New York. However, the vast majority of African American wizards are unhappy with this arrangement. The decision to reveal the presence of Black American wizards to the world was not well received by all. A few wealthy Black wizards within the organization decided that they did not want to live in the shadows anymore and thought that the best way to move wizarding kind forward was to join forces with MACUSA. The decision was made without a vote and on July 4th, 1965, when Jeremiah Ratliff exposed the world to the deep secret of magical Black American people. He was believed to have been paid handsomely by wizards in both the D.C. and New York regions. Unfortunately, the truth of their potential involvement has not been unearthed as Jeremiah was assassinated only two days later. These events plus racial tensions in America has led to distrust in both NAAAW and MACUSA.
The Civil Rights Movement
Due to the prominence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other ministers, it’s almost impossible to separate Black Christianity from the Civil Rights Movement. In the Black No-Maj community, magical ability was greeted with strong dislike, causing most African American wizards to hide their abilities from their peers. However, after the sobering kidnapping and murder of a young boy named Emmett Till on August 28, 1955, the magical and No-Maj community put aside their differences and began working together.
NAAAW members joined in non-violent protests throughout the United States, secretly protecting their non-magical brothers and sisters. Using defensive spells in Haitian Creole such as “Dezame,” a disarming charm, “Konfizyon,” a spell which causes confusion upon its recipient and “Pwoteje,” a shield charm, the wizards were able to protect their peers while still being under the radar from both wizards and No-Maj. These spells, while working in agreement with the methods of resistance, helped save many lives, though they were not able to save everyone.
The spirit of resistance and the desire for freedom and community well-being has continued to be a major part of NAAAW’s guiding principles. Members have been linked to Vietnam War resistance efforts, the Black Panther party, and most recently the Black Lives Matter movement. Not limiting itself to efforts in the United States, NAAAW is part of The International Congregation of Colored Wizards (ICCW) which unites Black and African wizards around the globe. Most notably, they have worked with the ICCW during the Civil Rights movement in Britain and Apartheid in South Africa. Currently, NAAAW is working together with ICCW to find solutions to humanitarian crises such as rebuilding efforts in the Caribbean and the treatment of the Windrush Generation.
The British anti-Muggle movement led by Lord Voldemort that gained traction in the 1970s-1980s and again in the mid-90s has once again found itself in the forefront of ICCW’s activism in the 21st century. By intermingling with the general anti-immigration sentiments in both the United States and Great Britain, the movement has become far-reaching. Black American and other non-white wizards of today are working together to find solutions to combat the growing number of Dark Marks, a symbol of fear and hatred, that have been appearing in the sky, along with other intimidation tactics.
Building and Community
Hidden in the coastal wetlands of what is commonly known as the bayou, NAAAW headquarters is a beautiful marble underwater facility. The enchanted windows make the inside of the building feel and look like an aquarium. Annually, the building is brought to the surface for Juneteenth celebrations that attract Black wizards from all over the country. The celebrations usually last for several days and are filled with music, laughter, food, and preparation for the upcoming magical school year.
In 2012, after over three decades of hostility from MACUSA, the Beauvais family has regained their status as a high ranking wizarding family. As far back as the early 1800s, the Beauvais have been an integral part of NAAAW’s success. Amity Beauvais, nee. Bellgrove, used her connection to younger brother and NAAAW co-founder, Haywood Bellgrove, to assist in opening her home as a station on the Underground Railroad. The Beauvais home was used as an early meeting place for NAAAW council hearings and as a training post for wizard civil rights activists. This familial legacy and prestige has led to the Beauvais Family Wand Shop becoming a popular destination for wizards that work within MACUSA and those that are headed to Ilvermorny.

Part 1 The Seventh Stone - Supernatural Fanfic
You were hanging out one day with your bff and your male best friend one day. Walking in the Montana mall. Your bff walked up an escalator. You watched as she road up, laughing. "Mara what are you doing we need to go to the car!" She giggled going up, you and your male friend , Justin, watched. "Come one more store!" You shook your head at her, she got off the escalator and went to the other one going down. "Your no fun Y/N" She went down and you waited.
Suddenly something went wrong, these escalator started shaking. Your eyes widened as you watched the escalator fall through the steps crashing, the bottom opening up to reveal big gears. Sending Mara and a few other people into the gears. Screaming, makin a human smoothie of them all. You and Justin stopped everything and you began screaming of the horror you just witnessed.
**********************************************
You were in your apartment. In sweatpants and a oversized t-shirt, sitting on the sofa, watching Doctor Who. Why, cause your a nerd, judgy shit. You sat there, tissues in hand, cheeks dry from your tears. You were angry, sad, mourning the loss of your Mara. Suddenly, during the doomsday episode, you heard a knock on your door. You muted the tv, and walked over to the door, opening slightly.
Standing there were too guys dressed in nice suits. One with short spikey hair, a little stubble, green eyes. The other one was taller then the other. They showed you FBI I badges, "FBI, I'm Detective Dean Nipson and this is my partner Sam Byrson. Can we come in and you questions on your friend's death?" You nodded quietly and opened the door the rest of the way. They came in, and took a look around.
"Sorry about the mess, I haven't cleaned up lately. Could I get you a soda? Beer? Anything?" I asked, politely. "No, thank you." Dean said. You nodded and sat down on your couch. Sam looked at me and asked, "So...what's your name?" You answered watching them sit down, "Y/N.....L/N." Sam nodded, "Y/N," he smiled looking agitated, "So you knew Mara well. Did she have any enemy's, anyone who may have wanted to hurt her."
You shook your head, "I don't understand police said her death was just a mechanical failure." You looked from Sam to Dean quickly, noticing him looking at the picture you had on a shelf. Sam looked at his brother then cleared his throat. Dean looked back, as if he got caught. "Sorry," he quickly apologized ",We just want to take in all the possibilities." You thought for a minute. "She did recently just break up with her ex, names David Locket. Real control freak."
Sam asked interested ", Control freak, what do you mean?" You clarified ", She broke up with him cause he was obsessed with her. Wanting to always know where she was at all times. He hardly wanted her hanging out with me. Had a real temper." Sam and Dean nodded. "Good, thanks. You wouldn't happen to know where he lived do you." You pulled a scratch piece of paper an quickly wrote down his address, giving it to Sam. "Thank you, now if anything weird happens, call us." Dean gave you a card with they're number on it ",Anytime." You nodded and lead them out. Then you went back to watching Doctor Who.
**********************************************
Sam & Dean's POV
"She seemed nice," Sam said walking down the stairs to the passenger side of the Impala. "Yeah, ashame she lost her best friend," Dean got in Baby and looked at Sam ", maybe this David guy is a demon." Sam nodded and they both drove to the address Y/N gave them. It was a short distance, Dean and Sam getting out and knocking on the door. A gruff stern voice came from the other side of the door. "Who the hell are you and what do you want." The brother's held up there fake badges. "Fbi we have questions on the resent death of you ex? Mara?"
The door opened to reveal a shocked man, with a white t-shirt with food/ grease stains on his shirt. Whisky bottle in hand, joint in other. "Mara Stevens? She's dead?" Sam nodded looking oddly at the messy man. "It was all over the news. In news papers. On radio." David nodded hesitantly, stepping inside the house leaving door open. "Mara and I didn't leave off on good terms I know. But that doesn't mean I killed her!" David shouted. Dean noticed pills on the coffee table, sleeping pills, pain relievers, Bipolar medication. They all sat in the living room. "Y/N told us that you wanted to know where Mara was all the time. That's why she broke up with you." Sam spoke first. "That's right, the bitch was untrustworthy. I had to keep her in line." Dean nodded. "Did you ever hit Mara?" David looked shocked "I know I'm bipolar crazy. But I loved her, I'd never put a hand on her if I could help it."
Dean got up, "Look where is your bathroom?" David told him the direction as Dean went of to search for any signs of demons. Then suddenly he got a call, picked it up.
"Hello?" Dean answer, still looking around. The voice on the other end came out scared and shakey. "Dean? You told me to call you if anything got weird..." Y/N's voice came out, stopping Dean. "Yeah, what's up?" Y/N pleaded "Dean it's my guy friend, Justin. He came at me with a knife. His eyes turned black." Dean walked out to Sam "We have to go, now!" Sam nodded getting up. "Where is he Y/N? Are you hurt?" "I'm fine, I shut the door on him. He's outside." "Y/N, put salt on all the exits and go to your bedroom. Sam and I will be there as quick as we can."
To be continued.
