notes before we start, this is about *not* about the actual people in the band, just the characters they’ve created on stage.

that being said, here you go! it's a bit short, wish it was longer but this was fun to write :)

I curled up in bed, scrolling mindlessly through my phone, glancing every now and then at III, back facing me as he played his game. Since he’d downloaded Skyrim, he’d been playing it every chance he got. He talked a lot while playing, so I now had my own fair share of knowledge about the game.

“These damned draugr,” he’d mutter every now and then. “Fuck, dragon’s gonna eat my ass!” he’d groan as his character got snatched up. 

He was never one to scream angrily while playing, something I appreciated. He would, however, get very worked up, shaking me around and celebrating when he finally would pass a section of the game that was giving him trouble.

He’d lean over, ask if I saw how many times he’d died trying to pass that specific section, I’d tell him, laughing, ‘yes, I did see you die over and over, you sure you didn’t do it on purpose?’ He’d gasp in mock offense, ‘Seriously love? You think I’d willingly get fucked over by that shit over and over like that?’ then he’d lean in for a kiss, something to make up for the lack of focus on me, and get right back in. 

Tonight however, we played together. He’d recently bought a Nintendo Switch, and we’d spent the past couple nights staying up playing Mario Kart. We sat next to each other, leaning forward on our knees, deeply focused on the race. I’d hit him with a shell, he’d throw a banana peel. Each time I overtook him, or vice versa, the other would cry out in both frustration, laughter, or an attempt to rile the other up. Eventually after we’d played for a few hours, we’d lose count of the score and take a break to go get some snacks from the kitchen. After making our way back to the room, arms full of snacks and drinks, we’d lay back in the bed and he’d talk my ears off about anything and everything he could think of. 

“There’s a new Zelda game that came out, a sequel to Breath of the Wild! Supposed to have two whole new maps and shit,” he’d tell me, running his fingers through his long hair. “Can’t wait to play it.” 

I smile at him and yawn softly. 

“Getting tired, love? Or tired of losing Mario Kart,” he said with a stupid smirk. 

I scoff at his question, “You’d like to think I was losing wouldn’t you?”

He chuckles at me, “Of course I think that, ‘cause it's the truth.”

“Whatever,” I say , rolling my eyes. I lean back in the bed and slip under the covers. “Think I’m done for the night.”

He sighs dramatically, “Guess we’ll have to settle our score tomorrow then.”

“Mhmm,” I hum in agreement. I watch him as he picks the controller up again, and closes the game. He turns the tv down a bit, and opens Skyrim again. I watch through eyes fluttering, trying to stay awake a bit longer as he begins his in-game trek across the map, trying to reach new locations, every now and then stopping to fight some monster, creature or enemy in his path. Carefully, I nudge him with my foot and he glances back at me. 

“What’s up, love?” he asks.

I hold my arms out to him, wanting to cuddle up to him. He smiles at my gesture and crawls across the bed, leaning back against me, head on my chest, still facing the screen. I kiss the top of his head, and run my fingers through his hair, and listen to him talk. He’s always so loud, but now he mutters queitly to himself, perhaps trying to mind my tiredness, perhaps feeling his own tiredness start to take over. 

“Love you,” I murmur sleepily into his mess of red hair. 

“Love you too, lovely,” he mutters and then exclaims loudly, “Motherfucking dragons!”

“III,” I groan, having been snapped out of my almost sleep. 

He chuckles, “Sorry love.”

I smile, taking strands of his hair and braiding them carefully. “It’s ok,” I tell him. “What are you doing in the game?”

And then it begins again, his nonstop talk about the game. Eventually his accent gets thicker with sleep creeping into his voice, and I have no idea what he’s saying anymore. I drift off into my own slumber.

At some point, he’s gotten off the game and shifted to lie next to me, because the next morning, I wake up to him, arms lazily wrapped around me, mouth hanging wide open, soft snores excaping his mouth. I smile at his goofy expression, his messy hair tangles and spread over his pillow, over his face. The quiet moments with III are rare. Odd but not uncomfortable. 

I curl up next to him, and drift off to sleep again, knowing the moment we both wake up, its back to the games again.

‘Gonna need my rest if I’m gonna beat his ass at Mario Kart,’ is the last thing I think before drifting off again.

Whats bothering about this grand festival me is the fact it has every reason to be the final fest

But, again, its been promoted as anything but that.

This season's catalogue has "thank you for playing" title. They are soon to release the switch 2, which is more the reason for them to start working on the next game now more than ever (and I am 99% sure we are getting a 4th game for many, many reason, but main one being that Splatoon has become Nintendo's new cash cow). Like the previous two games, it would have finished its 2 year run and they said they only had 2 years of content planned. The splatfest we are having next is the same one (according to a comment, I haven't checked this one yet) that they had in splatoon 1 before the final one.

It makes sense.

But something feels off.

And I'm wracking my brain over not having that final piece of the puzzle. Somethings missing and I can't seem to tell what that something is! Its frustrating, but we'll just have to see.

Because there are also reasons pointing to them doing it for at least another year. Things I found odd when I first noticed. Those being:

Off the Hook was added so much later, they missed better part of the special events like Splatoween and Frosty fest. It would be interesting if they brought it back one more round to see these two beloved characters have their chance to shine. They obviously know Off the Hook's popularity.

They introduced 2 new spaltfest mechanics way too late into the games life span, to the point we've got to enjoy it very little. It is odd also that they didn't add in sooner.

They only said they had two years PLANNED. Some people had speculated that they might do more.

Splatoon 1 only had two years because the Wii U was dying and they needed to quickly move to the next console. Splatoon 2 exists so that they could bring new stuff along side whay splatoon 1 already had. 2 years for splatoon 2 cuz, well, splatoon 2! Splatoon 3 brought in so many new things to the table. It be cathartic to have the final fest happen in the 3rd year of its life, a fitting end.

This fest is being pointed as "Grand Festival" and has only been said to celebrate the game's 2 year anniversary. Never once was it said to be its final.

Now, these aren't reasons enough to say they'll do more splatfests or catalogues. But it's something to keep in mind, at the very least.

The first point is a little iffy because, as much as I'd love to see reruns of it like many others; commercially, they'd want something new. We might be getting new outfits for EVERYONE if they do reruns, of just OtH.

Another theory is that this is technically the "final" fest, or at least the fest which choices affect the next game. But not the final fest of the game, the final fest might compliment this one. (Less likely, but a possibility to keep in mind)

I can't think of much else besides this, tbh. It's really driving me nuts here XD I like to be prepared for everything, so I've calculated this being the final fest since I first got the game 2 years ago. This is throwing me off incredibly hard 😫.

We'll just have to wait and see what they have planned. Splatoon 3 was already a huge change to the game, I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to do something completely new and different after this Splatfest.

English version DR:THH Gameplay Log #1

⚠️ Note that this Gameplay Log contains many spoilers, not only for THH but also for the entire Danganronpa franchise.

Finally, I started playing the English version of DR:THH, which I had been wanting to do for a long time!

I've only played the original (Japanese) version, and have never seen any playthroughs of the English version. So I am very excited to see how it is translated into English!

The iOS version can be played with English text and audio, so I'll be playing the English version on the iPad and the Japanese version on the Nintendo Switch at the same time. I've only played a little bit, but there are already so many things that interest me that it will probably take me quite a while to finish it. 😅 But anyway! I would like to keep a log of translations that I find interesting. So let's start with the prologue!:

It is interesting that the EN text says, "Which makes Hope's Peak a pretty fitting name", while the JA text says, "まさに、希望の学園と呼ぶに、ふさわしい". The literal translation would be "Academy of Hope", but the EN text focuses on the name "希望(Hope)ヶ('s)峰(Peak)学園(Academy)". In fact, the name "Hope's Peak Academy" is really a literal translation, and miraculously, it works without any special arrangement. XD

By the way, the name of a school like "⚪︎⚪︎ヶ峰 " is a common name and sounds quite natural as a school name. As is often the case in other countries, the names of Japanese schools are often based on place names, and words such as "峰(peak)," "丘(hill)," "北(north)" or "南(south)" are often added to the end of the name to describe the location of the school. So I didn't have such a strong impression of the word "峰(peak)" when I was playing the original version, but it is interesting to see how well it is used in the EN version. 😄

Incidentally, the use of the term "希望の学園" in the JA text has an important meaning: the subtitle of the original version of DR:THH is "希望の学園と絶望の���校生 (Academy of Hope and High School Student* of Despair)" *It is quite difficult to decide whether it should be translated as Student or Students! I chose the singular because I think it probably refers to Junko Enoshima. So this is also the text that explains what the part of the subtitle, Academy of Hope, is about.

I feel that this English translation is now a bit inconsistent with the reality of the academy. In the Japanese version, it says that "新入生の募集などは行なっておらず(the academy does not advertise for new students)", but the EN text says "No ordinary student could enroll here." The original version is also inconsistent, as the Reserve Course was probably not initially conceived, but I feel that the EN text is a bit more incongruous.

The translation "a hopelessly average" is nice. Sorry I forgot to take a screenshot of this part in the JA text, so I don't have an image for comparison, but the original text was "どうしようもなく普通". The original text does not have a meaning related to hope, but the EN text is related to hope.

The original text here is quite quirky, so the English translation has changed the wording quite a bit. I'm not sure if this translation is very nice because I'm not sure if this translation is very nice because I'm not sure about the nuances of "I can't even say I'm your "everyday hero" type". Well, it would have been a difficult sentence to translate. (I can't really go into it because it's so hard to explain!)

Hmmmm, honestly, I am not convinced by this translation. What Makoto said here is that the fact that he has the normal idea of starting by introducing himself is in itself proof that he is a very normal person, but the EN text seems to have a completely different meaning... Perhaps it was difficult to put it into a short sentence and had to be changed significantly.

I didn't know that "前向き" translated to "gung-ho"! Was this translated as gung-ho because of the whole Danganronpa image of a gun? 🤔

The pronunciation (or rather the pitch) of the character's name also feels fresh in the English version! "Makoto" is pronounced almost the same as in Japanese, but "Naegi" is pronounced quite differently. I think other characters may have different pronunciations from the Japanese, so I will summarize the differences when I see the introductions of all the characters.

Who's making Mario and Luigi Brothership?

I'm really really excited for Mario and Luigi Brothership! I've been with the series for a long time and to finally see a completely new entry that so faithfully emulates the style of the past game while still having unique character design, and really good animation has me hyped! But after watching the trailer and screaming for a bit I had one question. Who's actually making this game? Alpha dream went bankrupt in 2019, and the studio has been gone since. As to where their staff ended up we know that Hiroyuki Kubota is at Monolith Soft, Yoshihiko Maekawa supervised the Super Mario RPG Remake and according to Stealth40k on Twitter several of the senior staff that worked on Dream Team still work with Nintendo. The director of both the Superstar Saga Remake and the BiS remake ended up working at ILCA as quality assurance support on Sand Land. The point being is that the Alpha dream staff are scattered about the industry and aren't really at one studio. It's possible that some of them are working on Brothership but we most likely won't know until release. So I started to research Nintendo development partners that have experience with RPGs and here's what I've come up with so far. -Monolith Soft( Most notable for their franchise Xenoblade but also worked on Baten Kaitos, they're notable since they've provided support for a lot of recent Nintendo games including Splatoon 3 and Tears of the Kingdom) -Intelligent Systems ( Notable mainly for FE, but recently developed the Paper Mario Thousand Year Door remaster) -Genius Sonority( Developed Pokemon Colloseum and XD Gale of Darkness, are currently working on the New Denpa Men that was announced in the direct) Camelot ( Though they're known for their more recent works on Mario Sport titles, they made the goat Golden Sun) ILCA (Recently worked on BDSP, has an former Alphadream director as well as other staff) Arte Piazza Ltd. (Has a lot, and I do mean a lot of experience on RPGS and were recently on the Super Mario RPG remake) My best guess so far would probably be ILCA? Since I don't believe they're working on anything outside of porting One Piece Odyssey to Switch, they have several previous Alphadream staff and they have at least worked on a Nintendo Franchise before being Pokemon. But it could also be a brand new studio that Nintendo hasn't worked with before or an inhouse team! We really won't know until the game releases. But I can't wait to find out who made this game so I can thank them profusely for bringing back one of my childhood favorites.

What was your reaction to the trailer? I honestly love everything! The remixed ost, the fact that the professor is still protecting Luke (feel more confirmation than that that he considers him his adopted son I don't know what it takes xD), them as a figurine instead of the usual motion foot, the map design...EVERYTHING! And honestly I wouldn't mind seeing the scenes in 3D sure, I know not everyone might like to see it in 3D being used to 2D or mixed but by now half the video game world uses 3D or mixed because Layton doesn't? Also with NS2 coming out doesn't mean it won't improve the graphics right? There is to say that when he said that he is creating new puzzles with them for the next generation of Layton game, that is good news right? It means that there is a possibility that after this there will be other games no?

I was so very happy watching through the whole trailer that relaxing today. You can say I'm very ecstatic through the whole thing. I'm pleased with what we're getting with the new game especially since with how big Steam Bison is compared to older maps we explored in the past entries. It almost seems to be semi opened world kinda. Like you I love everything within the trailer.

I agree with you about the 3D cutscenes as many people do prefer the old 2D ones. The 3D looks absolutely phenomenal but to me it won't replace the old 2D cutscenes. The 2D cutscenes has a certain flare that is hard to replicate in 3D as everything is hand crafted compared to computer generated. If we do see 2D cutscenes it could be for special moments.

And for the possibility of there being more after Nwos I believe that really depends upon how Nwos sells and how it holds up to fan expectations. I believe that the new puzzles just refer to Nwos as Mr. Hino is trying some different. If Nwos does well in sells and with fans there might be more in the future, we could be seeing a new trilogy, or this could lead to another spin-off along the lines of Lady Layton or Lbmr with Luke as our main lead. The future is unknown at this point in time but it's definitely a bright one for our favorite puzzle series.

With out official confirmation on the Nintendo Switch 2 its hard to see what the graphics would look like. For right now I think the graphics look amazing even if it's just for the regular switch.

How I've collected an Army of Mews. :3

@puzzled-zebra asked me in a chat how I get my Mews, and it made me realize something. While I did make a post awhile back talking about how I easily get my Mew characters in-game, there are a few aspects that I feel need more attention (some of which I've learned since that post). So I figured I'd make a new and improved, deeply in-depth post about it! :3

It is important to know, though, that the Mews (and Jirachis) obtained this way are SHINY LOCKED! You cannot reset for a shiny this way! (I have a post about how I got Akoya here~)

The Lindens, the Branch crew, and my first gift Mew Pearl. All safe and sound in Scarlet. :3 Every Mew here except Akoya was obtained in Shining Pearl.

What you need: Nintendo Switch/Lite Brilliant Diamond OR Shining Pearl Let's Go: Pikachu OR Let's Go Eevee (For Mew) Sword OR Shield (For Jirachi)

First off, it's best to do do this on a user with HOME access for a few different reasons. First and foremost, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has a lock that makes it so you can send ONLY ONE Mew per file into HOME! I learned this the hard way, as I made the mistake of stockpiling my Mews in a Shining Pearl file, only to find out that I had go through convoluted hoops to get them all into HOME. XD This issue is ONLY present in BDSP--Sword and Shield, and Scarlet and Violet do not lock you in this way and you can transfer as many Mews as you want to your hearts content. (Currently--please don't change it GameFreak!) (I don't fully understand the mechanics of it all, but Mews obtained in previous games pass through this lock--Akoya and Randy were consistently able to be put in HOME together from the same file. It's only when they're obtained in BD/SP that the lock applies, or so I understand.)

The second reason for HOME access is, you have to beat the first Gym to do this method. I have in the past done it using the starter Piplup and catching Starlys and Shinxes, but if you have access to HOME and powerful Pokemon, then you can borrow some to help you get through. I use the Linden Shiny Squad since their levels are between 65-70. They scarcely listen to me, but when they do, it insta-KO's their opponents. (I recommend having Piplup or a Lv. 10-ish powerful Pokemon on hand, especially for Roark's Onix, as it has Sturdy. I have had them all disobey themselves to death.)

Make sure you put your borrowed 'mons back into HOME before deleting the file, if you want to do so!

How it works is, there's a lady in Floaroma Town that will give you a Mew, at Level 1. (The guy next to her will give you a Jirachi at Level 5 as well.) In order for her to give it to you, you need to have save data of LG;P or E on the same user. It doesn't matter how far in the LG file is; it just needs to be to the point that you can save the game. And you don't need to touch it after you save--One LG save gets you as many Mews as you restart BD/SP for. (For Jirachi it's the same, but instead of LG save data you need Sword or Shield save data.)

So you start BD/SP, play up to Floaroma, and boom, Mew! You can save by the lady and reset for a specific nature, and even name it! With the Shiny Squad's help it takes me roughly an hour of play time to get to that point.

Anyway, a little long-winded, but I thought I'd put this out there for peeps who have the means and want to build their own in-game army of adorable pink cats. :3

Though accounts ALSO transfer data,Everything I unlocked in the game isn’t there. I even unlocked Gold Mario but he isn’t there!!

I’m also playing as my mii…and usually their face changes,like making that ^O^ face when happy,but mine isn’t emoting at all!!

Is something wrong? What should I do to fix this?

I beat the final boss of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door last night! Overall, I found it to be a super fun, engaging game with a lot of fun game mechanics (though the audience-members-throwing-stuff-at-you-in-the-middle-of-battle thing is something I could have done without). 10/10, would highly recommend to those who enjoy Mario games. Also, I will continue my posts about Paper Luigi: The Marvelous Compass (which I still think Nintendo needs to make into its own game); I just have to find the time. It's a real pain in the butt to get photos off the Switch when you can only do ten at a time.

Perfect timing, too, because I ordered some more video games and they arrived yesterday. I got a used copy of Super Mario 3D All Stars, which was pricey, but I figure that getting three flagship Mario games for the price of 1 1/3 high-end Switch games isn't a terrible deal, especially seeing as Super Mario 3D All Stars was only sold for six months (booooooo). Of course, one could also argue that I already own two out of the three games in some form, so I really just got the one game for the price of 1 1/3 Switch games, but honestly, I worry about the longevity of our Wii sometimes, and since Super Mario Galaxy is probably my favorite Wii game, I feel better having it twice.

I also got Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (also used, of course); I'd never gotten it because I hadn't finished Mario & Luigi: Dream Team or Paper Mario: Sticker Star (and I still haven't finished either, oops) and I thought that the idea of a crossover between the Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario series was kind of silly, but now that I have (and have beaten) the Superstar Saga remake and they're coming out with another Mario & Luigi game (!!!), I figured I might as well complete the set. I should probably go back to Dream Team before starting up Paper Jam; I think I'm finally getting near the end.

(I promise, I don't usually spend all of my money on video games, but that's what happens when you get a new video game console XD)

no cus i totally understand your frustration, ive also quit splatfests for the moment until they get an overhaul

i suggest if you feel close to getting hateful to either shiver or shiver fans then maybe quit for a while for your own sake cus ive felt a lot better after doing so, im still really sensitive to negative comments towards frye or rude ones about shiver winning but taking some time for myself has made me feel infinitely better

ive been close to hating shiver before bc of how cocky and rude them and their fans can be but it doesnt really do anything but sour your enjoyment of the game more, so its really not worth it

i do have to say though, anyone who says "its just a game" reaaally needs to understand the frustration of people OTHER than them, sympathy is something a lot of people forget about when it comes to things that arent real life. just because it doesnt affect you doesnt mean everyone can shut off their attachment to the game or a character like a light switch; a lot of the time you dont know whats going on with them. i myself am really attached to frye cus i am hashtag autism creature and he brings me comfort, so anyone being rude to me about shiver winning really REALLY gets under my skin. its not entirely (if they were serious, if they werent then its not at all) their fault, but nintendo fixing the frustration of splatfests constantly keeling in one direction (which theyre supposed to do anyways but they havent) would definitely fix the issue. we need to find a way to have nintendo fix this, not attack anyone else for what bundle of pixels and text theyre attached to.

not everyone has really thick skin and if we want splatoon 3 to be more hospitable then we should try to cut down on the general splatfest bullassery in public spaces (being overly cocky and rude/blaming others in a way with no basis or truth behind it). its not something everyone can always do since we arent all perfect, but if we make steps in that direction then we could help more people enjoy the splatoon community rather than being eaten up by toxicity and spite

I don't want to quit playing it, I do enjoy splatfests, to a certain extent, i like going with my friends and i made a lot of new friends through it, it's like, the online community that I'm having a problem with

I don't hate shiver, I thought I did but I can't, she is still a comfort character (tho Frye is like, my obsession besides being my comfort character cuz I am also part part the 'tism XD), in a way, I like her dynamic with the group at least, she annoys me, yes, very much so, but I don't hate her

And I don't hate people who like her either

Who I do hate is people being mean about it, I had turned off anon cuz of a stupid person who was going around every frye support account anonymously just saying mean stuff and praising shiver as the best, I just forgot to turn it on, so thanks for reminding me 😅

Saying that "It's just a game" is so annoying to, tell that to the football fans, they go just as crazy if not more so

Splatfests are ment to be fun! You should be able to enjoy the splatfest without having to worry about people fighting

At least she won in Japan, so that is one other win under her belt, I just wish she'd win more in the future 😔

Oh also I almost didn't participate in this splatfest either and I did only because I haven't had time to play and I haven't finished my catalogue yet 😅 I usually use splatfests to up my catalogue quicker lmao

So just got home and watched the Direct:

Was never the hugest fan of the Mario & Luigi games but they do always look fun so excited for that.

Never played the original DKCR so may look into that one at some point idk my backlog's already so bad XD

Same with the Dragon Quest games, it's neat that they're on the Switch now and they look nice but I was really hoping for Chrono Trigger

I'm kind of baffled that there's a Funko Pop video game and I have no idea how Funko and Fortnite can get liscences for everything to put them in their low-effort stuff and crossover games that actually want to put effort into their portrayal always seem to have to jump through enormous hurdles.

I'm actually really excited for the Four Swords/Zero Mission release, believe it or not my actual experience playing Metroid Games is kind of limited and I've never finished Zero Mission so I may legitimately play that sometime soon. Never played Turok or Perfect Dark either so might check those out, feels odd to have a "17+" category for something you get for free anyway but if it means we get a wider variety then sure, just wondering what makes those two 17+ but Goldeneye's fine.

New Super Mario Party sure is a Super Mario Party.

Echoes of Wisdom looks kinda fun, like I love the idea of making Zelda a protagonist and using her wisdom stat to make it a puzzle game but I am kind of wary of the "magical item makes it so they don't have to directly fight and can basically be magical girls and zap everything away" being the only way girls are able to get protagonist roles but whatever it takes I guess.

My mom's been really into the Lego games lately but she has no idea what Horizon Zero Dawn is so I may or may not recommend it to her.

I am REALLY hyped for Stray, I've wanted it on the switch for so long now why can't it be sooner like the game's been out so long why is it still six months away I wanna play the kitty game now.

Both my mom and Little Sister have been playing life/farm sims so the Hobbit Stardew Valley Thing(tm) may be another recommendation for them.

The creators of Danganronpa create Danganronpa again for like the fifth time, this time with Tower Defense I guess? Nintendo really wants their own Danganronpa series but isn't willing to lean into the raunchier stuff that made horny teens love Danganronpa in the first place.

FINALLY news on Metroid Prime 4, it's not much but I love how they give a date at the very end just to keep people from going "oh, no new details?" the landscape looks beautiful and I'm excited to have Samus around again, hoping for those Metroid 2/3 remakes sometime this year so people who haven't played games that released literally twenty years ago can fill in the blanks.
