Season 8 was like 6 years ago(I feel old) and I know ppl have differing opinions on the Mr Echo thing (but it was intended, made it to storyboard and blocked animation and then dropped, soooo) but. I can see his recruitment p easily tbh. Bc the whole reason Dr J was in that lighthouse was because he was resurrected, forced there, and ordered to build Skulkin vehicles by Samukai. But Samukai in the flashback we see has already been deposed as leader of the Skulkin/Underworld. Which means the orders to do so most likely came from Garmadon.
And since Mr. E is one of the head honchos, he's likely an early arrival to the team, so I don't think Harumi has a whole lot figured out at this point, she's just got her Trauma and some Bad Influence Friends and an obsession with Lord Garmadon. So. Like. Plausible deniability road trip that she's just visiting important markers of Ninjago's recent past, all of which involve Lord Garmadon in some meaningful way; its sightseeing, its cathartic, and it gives her time to develop her dream Motorcycle Gang/Resurrection Cult. She's not looking for anyone at the Lighthouse, but she is looking for vehicle blueprints so she can be the Koolest leader on the block. But oops she looks in the basement and there's an Echo.
And she's flipping out bc??? A Ninja???? In the Lighthouse basement??? I mean it makes sense that it would be this one but???
Except this rusty old robot has no idea what she's talking about with this Ninja stuff, he's just waiting for his dad to come back.
And Harumi pauses.
Because how long has he been waiting? He's not sure, he had no proper way to measure time in the basement, and he doesn't have the best view of his clockwork heartpiece. But it was after his father saw a strange ship docking; Echo was worried it was the People who had locked up his father in the first place, but instead his dad sounded happy when he saw whoever was out there. It could have been a front, though, as clearly it was never safe to let Echo back out. Then Dr J popped down briefly, while everyone above was resting, to tell Echo he was desperately needed elsewhere, that it wasn't safe to bring Echo, but that he'd be back in no time.
And the pieces are fitting together for Harumi. And she's like. Your dad's dead, bro.
And he's like. What? Did he die doing what was needed of him?
And she's like. Oh, no. He died a few years later.
And he's like. Why didn't he come back for me????
And she's like. Probably because they kept him away.
And he's like. Who's they?
And she's like. The Ninja I was talking about earlier.
And it surely can't be hard in universe to find pictures of Zane and Dr J post s2-pre s3, so she pulls one up and shows Echo who is freaking out bc why is that one kind of like him and Harumi explains that that was the droid his father created first, that he became a Ninja, and that hes probably the one who took their father away and kept echo waiting for years.
But Echo has doubts, shocked as he is abt a new older brother, he wants to believe the good in the situation so he's unsure. But Harumi mentions that the Ninja's failures to uphold more than their self preservation/interests has led to uncountable losses and devastation in Ninjago time and time again, before delving into her own story. And she seems so kind, and so hurt, and I do think there's a genuine connection btwn these two that forms from this shared emotional torment that they decide came from the Ninja, and now Echo is more receptive.
And then Harumi gets to start her Garmadon pitch because wait! If Echo was made here, then that could only have happened because of Lord Garmadon. And she reiterates that he's the reason she and her city could have even survived The Great Devourer. And maybe Echo's family-by-creation left, maybe they were untrustworthy and lacking, but that's OK bc if you look at it all a certain way, Garmadon is more of a father to Echo than Dr J was. And Echo is a vulnerable, overwhelmed mess who just found out his dad fucked off for years without him and also died, and also he has a brother??? Who their dad clearly seems to have favored??? Did they even know about Echo??? Did they delight in their life free of him???
Basically. Kinda Spinel-core but getting abandoned and left completely alone does that to you. Especially when the first person to find you after being abandoned is a deeply hurt and misguided teen who is probably kinda desperate for someone, anyone else to see the Ninja the way she sees them.
#i was thinking abt the idea of citrusshipping#and how it could have flowed into Mr Echo. with morro as the vengeful influence tinting these#one sided experiences to associate ninja with loss#but theni was like 'wait a sec tho bc Harumi does that also and its her gang called the sons of garmadon#and if youre very carfeully squinting and cherrypicking out pesky details and nuance. like harumi would be.#echos existence is thanks to Lord Garmadon. and there is no better replacement dad than garmadon. you should be a son of garmadon.#and echo would probably listen and she could get him out the lighthouse and off the island'#and anyway i kinda ship Harumi and Echo now?#i like citrusshipping its funney but i think i actually ship this dynamic now#its. fucked and manipulative but its also like. genuine and just. two scarred young people and harumi gives echo her distorted view#of the world as the gift of her love#so its like she wasnt trying to manipulate echo. not like she was trying to manipulate Lloyd.#but she did take someone in a v fragile state and begin shaping his worldview to match hers. unconciously but still done.#like i can also see her bringing him to the mainland and she and UV and Killow are his tethers which means everything he sees radicalizes#him further...and draws him in closer to the fold#anyway if he and harumi smoochie kiss then shes why he got rebuilt in Crystallized. also i think mr F stands for 'Mr Fun Guy'#echo zane#harumi jade#ninjago harumi#quietmystery?#idk what the ship name would be but im here for it#mr e ninjago#mr echo#echo/harumi#tbh i said i kinda ship it now but it could also be friendship#sons of garmadon#...ok til abt the morro-echo-harumi trio hcs and Yes#this is just more of a like. canon compliant ish take where morro is still gone from the narrative#love the idea of the 3 in a vengeance trio tho

For funny haha reasons I’d like to think when Morro first appeared to Euphrasia to give her the power I think he tried to scare her and is ALSO having his own Sensei:/Master arc, but he’s being even more awkward than Lloyd is.

Hello I'm here to let you know that I'm very slowly making my way through reading the absolute giant that is phoenix and so far im fking loving it it's SO GOOD i cannotjehsjen
(also I'm subscribed to ur ao3 and was absolutely fucking SHOOK at the word count when i got the email and saw the first chapter 😭)
HAHAHA yes I shall feed on your tears and excitement!!! The word count is very long because my brain is working OVERTIME writing the damn thing so people can enjoy the niche I made just by watching a movie!!! I have to postpone the next chapter to July due to WIP scheduling, but let's hope everything goes well for these merry people!
(I also shook myself just looking at my word count, now that you say it...)
Anyways here's a little... something, as a treat!
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BIG REVEAL OF CHAPTER 3 UNDER THE CUT!
Olivia becomes slack-jawed, looking at the screen in horror. "No."
"It's true," Lloyd replies with a shrug, keeping the grief and betrayal he feels underneath his mask of nonchalance. "It makes sense, if you think about it."
“It doesn’t,” Olivia snaps, but her face is filled with fear. Perhaps fear over the fact that she perceives the devil to be incarnated as Kai? “How can he be alive? We… we made sure he wouldn’t survive.”
Cole tries not to feel pissed at that sentence. He oh so wanted to shout at them, tell them that they have forsaken a good person for selfish gains.
“We live in a world where ghosts exist in the same plane as us,” Lloyd tells her gently, but still grimacing about the permanent touches Morro has left for him. His touch on his mind was so intimate he couldn’t think or talk about him without shuddering. “While it also took a lot of time for me to wrap my head around it, the evidence points to him being alive.”
“How?”
“Dark magic,” Garmadon says simply, all four arms behind him as he looks at the picture of Kai, and back at Red Carnage. He dares to ignore the implications that he created this situation, all because he was a megalomaniac and wanted the power he has always asked for. Now, he is not sure what he wants, and why he is so tense at confronting what is actually a young man for the murder he has committed. “Or a cloning.”
“He isn’t cloned,” Cole insists, as Olivia starts to panic, breaths rising and falling at a rapid pace. Her eyes are fixed on Kai’s smiling picture, associating him with the picture on the left, of a gruesome murderer, difficult to endure.
Olivia whips her head around to face her lord, tears forming in her eyes. “This is karma, Lord Garmadon.” Her voice was small and quiet, as the tears started streaming down her cheeks. “We have angered your father on the other side and he sent Kai back to the living to hunt us down.”

If Morro ever came back, the relationship between him and the ninja would be very complicated.
Morro, a few years back in canon, came down to ninjago to destroy it all. He came back and proceeded to possess Lloyd for the max amount of a month, and fought all the ninja multiple times leaving them almost dead. He also ended up losing, and at the end of it all it was only then that he realised it was all for naught. He could’ve gone back to Wu, but he didn’t. He chose the harder route and is now reaping what he sowed. It was at the end that he had a change of heart. Later, on the DotD, he ended up coming back and helping Wu and the ninja. Not because he’s a good person, but because he wanted to. At this point, Morro did not care for harming others nor all of Ninjago, his vengeful nature was thrown out the window.
Out of guilt and for the sake of having some form of peace, he helped the ninja by helping them remember Cole. And that was that, he immediately began leaving and was never heard from again.
Lloyd no longer is all that affected by Morro in the current time, as seen from how he casually brings him up and said to Harumi how Morro wasn’t the worst villain he ever faced. That does not mean he no longer has the trauma or the memories, but it does mean it wouldn’t leave him a crying mess if he saw Morro again.
However, he and the ninja would still be very tense and aggressive if they ever saw Morro again. They would hesitate to attack, mainly because its unlikely Morro is attacking them at that moment and because they recall the DotD. They would hear him out, maybe even ask him for help if the situation calls for it. They would not get along with him though.
Lloyd would actively avoid him, but if he ever did come across Morro they would be stuck in a tense silence, and Lloyd would be very argumentative when it came to him.
Kai would avoid him too, but if they were ever in the same room best believe those two are fighting.
Cole or Zane wouldn’t avoid him, but they wouldn’t acknowledge him either. And when they do, they’d be very uncaring? Ig? Like, monotonous, i suppose.
Nya wouldn’t avoid him, but she would always argue and cuss him out.
Jay is the one who avoids him and also never is actually stuck in a situation with him unless someone else is there.
Morro would also argue with all of them if they do, and actively avoid them all. He would start and participate in arguments too, just like them.
Their personalities and traumas would clash, and to be perfectly honest, forgiveness is not on the table when such an old would is opened back up.
However, i DO think second chances or at the very least becoming friendly with each other is on the table. Through a long journey of self sacrifice and talking because they have no other choice and through understanding they are no longer the same people. And because of Wu.
Let’s be honest if Wu (alive or in his weird orb ghost form) was there they would be a lot more cordial with each other.
But yeah, it would take a LOT to get the ninja and Morro to actually get along, but i do think it’s possible. It would start off as a huge mess for a long time, and it would probably get worse too, but eventually they would get along due to the situation they are likely to be forced into.
Like in a battle, or someone sacrifices themselves for the other, or they get into one of those cliche situations where two of them are stuck in a room or smth together and they have to talk it out or they’ll go insane, or they have an argument that no can stop or they can’t just run away from and end up spilling how they actually feel and shi.
I am TELLING YOU. It would take all those cliches to make them get along.
OH LIKE HOW ZUKO DID WITH THE GAANG THATS HOW.
It would take Morro proving himself to have changed for any of them to get along. But knowing this guy he wouldn’t try and it would happen by accident.
I’m using Garmadon and Harumi as examples as they both were horrible people who hurt Lloyd and the ninja a bunch, but they gave them both a second chance and Lloyd (somewhat) forgave them both after they changed and proved it. I think it is possible the same could happen with Morro, because they’ve done this multiple times. With Harumi, Garmadon, Pythor (still became evil again tho), Skylor, Pixal, and so on.
Another reason why is because each of those characters had a unique connection with another ninja or someone in their group. Skylor with Kai, Pixal with Zane, and the other three with Lloyd. Who does Morro have a relationship with? Wu. I find it likely that with Wu supporting Morro the same way those three did with their ‘villains’ the others would be just a tad more willing to at the very least hear him out.
So pretty much the relationship between Morro and the ninja is like a married couple about to divorce because they were in a shi situation and Wu is the marriage councillor who’s doing his best.
Sorry i was just thinking about how they could actually get along man and i trailed off on to this, forgive me 🙏

FSM during march of the oni, how they feelin'?
Eeeeeee I'm so glad you asked because the thoughts I have had about this.
First of all some (potentially unnecessary) background info.
1. So Mystake is one of The Oni Warlords. This is canon. What isn’t canon is which one. While I haven’t fully decided on which one she’s going to be I’m leaning towards Venge because of a whole backstory and character arc that I haven’t written yet. But it’s not overly important right now.
2. Mystake and the Fsm have a parent-child relationship in this au. Mystake is also one of the people he learnt to fight properly from.
3. In this au the Oni Warlords are gods. But unlike Fsm, who simply can't die, they can be killed. However their deaths aren't permanent, and they always find a way to return, whether its by healing their own bodies, or by simply constructing new ones. Though depending on who kills them it might take longer to come back.
4. Because Mystake is a Warlord herself, it the other two they took around a thousand [the time may change] or so years for them to come back after she killed them. As a result, there was enough time between the Warlords leaving to chase the Fsm across The Sixteen Realms, and all three returning to the First Realm, that The Omega had time to rise to power. However, they were no where near as as powerful or beloved as the three Warlords were, so it didn't take long for them to be overthrown again, and The Warlords restored to power. The Warlords, along with the Fsm, ended the war between the Dragon and the Oni.
But The Omega had already gained a following of Oni who either did not want the war to end, or were outraged at The Omega being overthrown. So they bided their time, waiting for the perfect moment to get revenge on The warlords beloved half-breed. This revenge, of course, involved invading Ninjago. The reason there is such a large gap in-between the ending of the war [while I haven't got an exact timeline yet, I'm thinking it ended a few thousand years before Garmadon was born] is because they were waiting for a) the Fsm to be out of Ninjago and/or distracted (the Overlord's return fits this category nicely) and b) for a natural pathway to open between the First Realm and Ninjago (like the one in the Wailing Alps.)
5. Garmadon never died, and Mystake never died either (not that is would have been permanent if she had).
6. Wu and Garmadon lost their powers when Garmadon got banished to the underworld (this is also what caused the rapid aging). Since the Overlord's second defeat, they've slowly been coming back. But during March of the Oni they are on the same power level as a regular elemental master, otherwise the probably could've have taken out The Omega's army themselves.
So as of March of the Oni, the ninja are all fully aware of both Fsm being alive, and Mystake being an Oni Warlord. However, when the Oni attack, both of them are taking a vacation in another realm, so Ninjago City is still covered in darkness.
At this point Wu and Garmadon have switched to their true forms but with their powers being weakened, it only helps a bit. They are also trying desperately to contact either their father or Mystake through either prayer or magic. However, they don't succeed until they've already been barricaded in the monastery.
When the Fsm hears his children screaming in his head for help, he is understandably worried, it's not often that their kids are in true peril after all. When they finally manage to get the story out of their kids, they are furious in a way they haven't been in thousands of years. They quickly explain the situation to Mystake, who is (almost) as livid as Fsm, before teleporting them them to the monastery.
(They cause a lot of commotion once they get to the monastery. The civilians who had sheltered had not expected two massive beings to randomly appear in there midst. Especially since one looks similar to the beings they just escaped, and the other resembles the children of God. So it's up to the ninja to calm them down. Unfortunately telling them that the First Spinjitzu Master himself has arrived has the opposite effect, but at least they're less scared now.)
Upon arrival Fsm is momentarily thrown off by the civilians in the monastery, but they have spent their entire life being noticed and stared at, so the awe and fear that the civilians express doesn't bother him.
Fsm quickly transforms their clothes into proper armour (think crystalized style) and launches themself over the monastery walls and into the battle (Mystake doesn't follow him, she knows better than to get in the way of her child when he is on a warpath). Fsm proceeds to absolutely thrash The Omega and their army; burning them, freezing them, and throwing them off of the mountain. He makes the Oni regret ever conceiving this idea. The Fsm pays special attention to The Omega, and rips out their heart with their bare claws, because how dare The Omega think that they can just take his home, his family from him. They will pay for this in the life and blood, and no being in the sixteen realms can help them now. He will wipe them from the face of Ninjago.
And for the first time, The omega truly realises that just because the First Spinjitzu Master put an end to the war, it does not mean that they are a pacifist. It does not mean that they cannot rage with all the fury and savageness of a full-blooded Oni. They are balance incarnate, this does not make them good, and it's The Omegas fault for assuming that they were.
And so the Oni are banished and destroyed by the god of the land they sought to conquer. When the fighting stops, Garmadon creaks open the monastery gates to look outside. Fsm is covered in the Oni's blood, looking (and feeling) like one wrong move from someone is going to send them into a fit of madness. But they relax a bit at the sight of their eldest child safe. After making sure Garmadon is all right, the Fsm stalks back to monastery to find the rest of his family. And also to change out of their armour and clean up because there is blood in the seams and on his face and it's gross.
Once he enters the monastery he herds Garmadon, Wu, Lloyd, and even Mystake into the monastery, and they are wise enough not to argue with him. The First Spinjitzu Master is understandably agitated, and Mystake, Garmadon, and Wu know him, and their general Oni instincts well enough, to understand that they will barely be let out of his sight for the next few days (Lloyd, at this point, hasn't really experienced the full might of an Oni's possessiveness, but he will just have to get use to it).
Eventually the rest of the ninja sort out the civilians, and set them up in a nearby village while Ninjago City is still covered in darkness (the monastery has enough room for all of them, but the ninja aren't willing to find out what the First Spinjitzu Master will do to any "intruders"). At some point, Mystake sends for the other two warlords, who clear Ninjago City of the dark fog.
So yeah, Fsm is absolutely enraged that The Omega is attacking their home, and ends up reverting to the base instincts of 'defend your territory', 'defend your pack', and 'destroy anyone who harms them'. After he calms down he ends up a bit embarrassed about how he handled it, but before he can dwell on it too much he collapses from exhaustion.
But what a way to re-introduce themself to the wider population of Ninjago.
And in case you’re wondering where Morro is in all this, he's busy vibing with Nyad, who has all her memories because this au is incredibly self-indulgent.

Yeah so I did a think and an AU for Ninjago sprouted into my brain, it’s criminal for how long I’ve been watching this show (since the pilot came out) that I’ve never done an alternate universe for the show.
This is that AU, it’s not fully thought out but the basic gist is the answer to the question: “What if ghost Morro was not vengeful because he met and befriended Lloyd back when Lloyd was on his own?”
The answer is while buncha fun changes! The cat was originally just a fun visual, but I figured it would also be fun to incorporate that. The story behind that being ghost Morro saved this cat from getting killed, has been taking care of it, and in return the cat allows Morro to possess it willingly. Allowing Morro to travel around without worry of being seen in his ghost form.
He meets Lloyd as this cat, when Lloyd is alone crying in an alleyway after having just ran away from his boarding school. Cat Morro is hesitant at first, but sits by Lloyd giving the kid some much needed comfort. After this Lloyd discovers Morro’s true form and the two bond, becoming their own little found family. The ninja eventually find Lloyd years later and that about as far as I’ve gotten in my thinking, I might do some writing for this AU just to expand it. But it’s more likely I’ll do art for it.
But honestly this isn’t anything angst filled (though that will happen, it’s bound to) just a nice calm, nice, fluff filled AU with a happy ending. Because Lloyd has been traumatized enough canonically, I want him to hug his cousin

Ninjago Western - Kai
Kai
Kai has a cold and sharp appearance that he shows towards everyone, but deep down, he is a good man, but he just had bad luck.
Normally his favorite weapon is the revolver, and everyone knows him for always using two revolvers and a single shotgun. One of his revolvers belonged to his father, and he carries with him a knife that also belonged to his father. The second revolver belonged to the leader of the gang Kai worked with.
Kai uses no other horse other than Flame, his most loyal horse and one that has accompanied him on each of his trips.
Kai met Flame as a lone wild Mustang and the two found themselves in dangerous situations. During a storm Flame had been injured after he was attacked by a wild cougar, Kai was nearby when the attack occurred and confronted the cougar to save Flame, the cougar managed to hurt Kai a little but he finally got rid of the wild one feline. He honestly didn't have the heart to leave Flame abandoned, so he healed his wounds as best he could and waited for Flame to recover. When Flame finally recovered, Kai set him free, but for some reason Flame wanted to stay with him, he began to follow him as if he were a dog and having no other choice, Kai decides to take him as his own horse.
Kai loved his family and his people very much, losing everything because of the Clinthon family filled him with a vengeful hatred that never went out within him. That he did not travel a tortuous and bloody path around him was thanks to his promise to keep Nya safe, but apart from meeting his friends and Skylor. And meeting Lloyd, little by little, made the hatred in his heart reduce.
After being orphaned, Kai began stealing food and some money, most of the food and money he gave to Nya. But sometimes he worked in a small stable taking care of the horses, and so he was able to get some money. But when he was with Nya, he took it upon himself to give her a good education, so he taught her to read and write. And every time he could he gave her a book that he sometimes found on the street. And so as not to make her forget her parents, he told her many stories about them, he also gave her a photograph where the four of them were together, since at that time, Nya was a baby.
Sometimes he let Nya help him take care of the animals in the small stable where he worked.
He let Nya fall asleep near him every night.
When Kai tried to steal some money from the leader of a gang of outlaws, they caught him in the act and if he wanted them to let him and his sister go, he had to work for them.
The leader of the gang was a mysterious man, he never told Kai his name but he took him under his care.
Kai was already good at using any type of weapon, he knew how to hunt with his parents when he was very young, and his father taught him how to shoot and ride a horse. Thanks to these skills he turned out to be useful to the band.
Morro was in that band, at that time he was 11 years old, but he was a rather proud and cruel child at that time. Morro never loved Kai, as he thought he was a useless and weak child, but Kai showed him the opposite.
Kai couldn't stand Morro either, since he always insulted him, bothered him and even got into a lot of fights with him.
The reason why he didn't let his sister join the band was because he didn't want her to follow that path, the boss accepted Kai's condition and didn't let anyone in the band touch Nya. But that was something Nya didn't know, since Kai lied to her about him taking small jobs outside of the town where they were staying.
So that he would not forget his education, the boss almost always forced Kai to read and write anything.
The gang Kai worked with was not that bad, but they were well known to the authorities, they only stole money and sometimes gave it to other people who needed it, and they did not coldly kill people, they only killed those that they deserved, since the gang was also a bounty hunting group.
The group leader helped Kai improve his fighting and shooting skills.
After lasting six years with the gang, Morro, out of pure jealousy and hatred towards Kai, murdered the gang to obtain the reward they offered for the entire gang, whether to all living or dead members. Seeing this and knowing that Morro was responsible for the massacre, Kai decided to find him and stop his misdeeds.
Fearing that Morro would go after Nya, the two traveled to Ninjago City to stay for a few days. After meeting Wu, an old friend of his father, Kai asked him to stay with Nya and protect her. Wu accepted, but Kai told him that he should follow another path, so he left Nya with Wu.
Kai never gave Nya an explanation as to why he left her with Wu, he only told her that it was for her own good.
Kai began his career as an outlaw by beginning to hunt down various criminals, either capturing them or killing them on the spot, then began attacking Ouroboros to get rid of several of Chen's men, while also stealing several of Tyrrant's profits in different Ninjago banks. Becoming a hired gun caused him to earn a large reward from the law, and people began to call him "Red Shogun".
He is not an official member of the resistance, but sometimes he helps Ronin with some jobs, which is how he met Cole, Zane, and Jay.
He met Skylor when confronting some members of the Serpentine gang in Ouroboros, at first the two fought because Skylor thought that the Red Shogun was a ruthless killer. But because Kai was too gentlemanly, he didn't count on Skylor kicking his ass in a minute. Kai is still insisting that he let her win.
He met Nya again a year after all of Ninjago knew his outlaw name, the two met at an old abandoned ranch where Kai had the mission of ending or handing over some criminals who had stolen several of the farmers' properties, Nya also had that same mission, only when they met they faced each other, at the same time while they faced the gang of criminals. It was there that Nya discovered that the Red Shogun was Kai. Nya didn't catch him or anything, she just turned a blind eye and let him go.
After the encounter with his sister, Kai knew that Nya would stop at nothing to find him and demand answers, he has already had small encounters with her, and knowing that she became sheriff and that she helped the resistance fills him with pride, but when the two are close the atmosphere around them becomes tense.
When he feels frustrated or angry with the world, Kai goes to any bar so he can get drunk.
After saving Lloyd from a gang of bandits, while heading towards one of the resistance hideouts, he had no intention of letting Lloyd accompany him on his journey, but knowing that he was Wu's nephew, and Since Tyrrant had men looking for the boy, Kai made the decision to take Lloyd with him.
Becoming Lloyd's personal nanny was not in his plans. But what other alternative did I have?
Kai knows to be careful with Lloyd every time he uses his slingshot. The boy was a real danger if he had his slingshot in his hand.
She gets irritated when Lloyd bothers him, whether in front of girls or with his friends. And she tried not to feel affection for the boy, so she acted in a cold way towards him. But over time Kai begins to warm to Lloyd.
Every time they go to bars, Kai gives Lloyd a juice and forbids him to see the almost naked dancers who are dancing or singing on stage.
Kai and Ronin once played a little prank on Lloyd, offering him an alcoholic drink so he would know what it tasted like. They both laughed a lot when they saw the child's expression of disgust.
Sometimes he is reprimanded by Nya, Skylor, Pixal and Vania, as they see him acting in a rude manner towards Lloyd. He even gets reprimanded by Cole's father.
Seeing that the boy was good at getting into trouble with other people, the first thing he taught Lloyd was to not bother people so much, so he could avoid problems in the future. After that he teaches him to ride his own horse, something that did not turn out to be so difficult, since he could see that the boy was a good rider.
If he wanted Lloyd to overcome the dangers he faced, he had to teach him how to shoot. At first the boy turned out to be a little nervous when holding a gun, but over time he got used to it. But he only gave him the weapon on the condition that he defend himself and not kill people directly.
When he became attached to Lloyd, he would sometimes take him hunting in the forest or take him fishing in any river they found. The two of them even got to see the stars together, as well as the sunsets.
Sometimes she would get angry at Lloyd if he embarrassed him in front of people.
She is worried that Lloyd is in dangerous situations, and she is very afraid that Lloyd will die because of him. Since it would be something he couldn't stand.
I may act harshly towards Lloyd at times, but he knows that he does it for his own good. He even becomes a role model for Lloyd. And there are moments when the two joke with each other.
Kai very much wants Lloyd to live the life that was taken from him and his sister. Since sometimes Kai accidentally acted like a second father to Lloyd.

I have many thoughts on Morro and Wu and feel the need to explode about it. Woah be upon ye
Their entire story is so tragic and grief-filled to me it gets me every time man.
I feel like Wu's "he was my greatest regret" line is often misinterpreted as placing the blame on Morro but I never took it that way? I always felt like it was an admittance of Wu's own fault. I also try and keep in mind the context of the line, like Wu is telling this story about Morro to the *ninja.* The ninja aren't gearing up to fight Wu's former student/kid he loved, they're gearing up to fight a vengeful spirit who's threatening the lives of their friend and all of ninjago. The purpose of that story was to be truthful about what Wu knew about Morros past so the ninja could understand who they're dealing with and what he has to do with Lloyd and Wu, not so that Wu could express his own genuine emotion. He IS Wu's greatest regret because Wu failed him and now it's coming back to bite everyone he cares about.
And then when Morro died, God that scene always gets me but it's not even because of Morro's last lines (though they still hit like a truck) it's because of Wu's heartbroken yell of Morro's name after he lets go. He was pleading with Morro to stay and take his hand even after everything but Morro would not let him fix this, he didn't think he should be saved. It just gets me man it's so painful. And then there's Wu's feverdream/vision in s7 in which the version of Morro he has in his mind calls him out as having made many mistakes and failing him, like dude that guilt has stuck with Wu since Morro died and probably even since he left the Monastery. He's so viscerally aware of how he failed Morro and you can see that reflected in how he taught the rest of the ninja, going to find them, keeping the green ninja prophecy from them, making them rely on each other as a team unit from the beginning. He did not want to fail another.
Another thing is that I'm always skeptical of Wu characterization that involves making him out to be a terrible teacher/father figure in the context of Morro especially because it's normally used to minimize or justify Morros actions/try to make him more redeemable yk? I'm definitely not saying Wu's a blameless saint but at the end of the day Morros is capable of making his own decisions and boy did he. It's part of the point of Morro's character that he was unable to move past things no matter how hard Wu tried. If you still want a figure to blame for Morro's descent into rage and malicious intent, the Preeminent, literal embodiment of Ninjago hell whom he spent decades with and all her cursed spirits, is right there.

Never Trust a Snake - A Lloyd Character Study Fic
Summary: A long time ago, Lloyd learned to never trust a snake. Unfortunately, that lesson did not stick with him when he met the Jade Princess
Tumblr media
When Lloyd was a young boy, he met a snake named Pythor. He was the general of the almost extinct Anacondrai. He carried himself with dignity around Lloyd. He held his head high, he spoke with confidence -  he was the perfect henchman to help the young evil mastermind achieve his villainy. An experienced Serpentine general who was willing to do whatever Lloyd pleased.
It was obvious by the skeletons scattered around the tomb that Pythor wasn’t trustworthy. Perhaps Lloyd should have realized Pythor’s glances towards the map sticking out of his pocket sooner, or the forced happy tone of his voice when talking with him. It wasn’t the first time a snake betrayed Lloyd, but it was the first time one had offered to be his friend.
For how long was Lloyd running around Darkley’s alone? Brad was the closest friend he had, but even Brad would ignore him in the hallways or play viscous pranks on him. Pythor was different. He hugged Lloyd. He listened to him. He was willing to be seen with him. He held Lloyd’s hand as they walked back from Jamanakai village, their bellies full with all the candy they stole. Pythor’s hands were cold, but it was the most warmth Lloyd had felt up until this point.
Lloyd should have learned his lesson, but he was lucky. He met the ninja, and while Pythor didn’t fulfill Lloyd’s desire for friendship, he managed to find others who did. Growing up as the Green Ninja meant saving the world, but it also led to getting your hair ruffled by Kai, geeking out over Fritz Donnegan with Jay, or coming home to experience Zane’s cooking. It meant finally having a mother to give you hugs and an uncle to read you bedtime stories. The best part of all was finally having his father in his life. The young boy who met Pythor back in the tombs would have killed to experience what the Green Ninja had now.
Who wouldn’t want to be the Green Ninja? Who wouldn’t want to have incredible power and ride on a dragon, with all eyes on Ninjago on you? Who wouldn’t want to be on Master Chen’s Island, witnessing the boy you considered your brother point a weapon at you and claim your powers should’ve been his all along? Or to have a vengeful spirit possess you, their jealousy clouding your brain because they finally got the Green Ninja gi all to themselves! Isn’t it every boy’s dream to someday fight their father to save the world? At least Lloyd was lucky his father was purified after the final battle, but he wasn’t lucky enough to have his father still standing beside him after the Second Serpentine War.
Then Lloyd met the Jade Princess Harumi. She carried herself with dignity, befitting of her royal status. Her shoulders and back were straight, but her voice was soft. She hung her head low, only keeping it high in public when all eyes in Ninjago were on her. No one could see her discomfort aside from Lloyd. He could hear his ninja teasing him about his feelings for her, but Lloyd didn’t realize what made him so drawn to the princess. Was it her gold jewelry that sparkled in the daylight? Her magnificent cape that made her appear regal?
He realized it was her witty comeback when she saved him from falling. It was her soft smile she had as she walked the streets of Ninjago, or the gentle words of reassurance she gave the children as she handed them food. Lloyd enjoyed seeing children smile upon receiving fruits from her. Their faces were glowing, just like the princess herself. The lights from the hanging lanterns illuminated the princess as she escorted Lloyd to a bridge over a canal. He felt relief when Harumi discussed how being a princess is not as wonderful as people think it is.
For a split second, Harumi grabbed onto Lloyd's hand as they walked along the canal. Her hand was cold, but Lloyd did not notice. He felt warmth around him, from the lanterns hanging over the canal to the fires the poor lit to keep themselves warm. There was warmth from the children running around, rejuvenated from the food Harumi provided for them. Lloyd wanted to believe Harumi was warm too.
Harumi didn’t have scales or could turn invisible. She didn’t try to steal Lloyd’s map to the Oni mask or force herself to sound cheerful around him. She had a natural soothing voice. It could soothe the baby Cole found. It could soothe Lloyd. He loved that about her. He loved how she stayed close to him as they traversed through Primeval’s Eye, sometimes burying her face against his shoulder when she got startled. He loved how she tended to his wounded arm, protecting him when he was supposed to be protecting her. She wasn’t a snake. She wasn’t Pythor.
Harumi was like Lloyd, and that is why he wanted to trust her. She understood being forced into a position of power with little to no choice. She understood the pain of losing your family. She inflicted that same pain on Lloyd, mocking him as she forced him to watch the Colossus destroy Destiny's Bounty and kill his friends. He should have learned his lesson with his Pythor. Perhaps Harumi didn’t snatch the map because Lloyd was already willing to lead her to the Oni Temple regardless.
After Emperor Garmadon’s defeat, Lloyd stood by the remains of a collapsed building. His younger self would’ve loved the friends and family he had now, but Lloyd was still the young boy awakening serpentine tombs, who failed to learn to never trust a snake.

oh yeah it's ninjago - specifically season 5, possession. the situation there is basically that the protagonist is The Chosen One (green ninja) but in the fifth season it's revealed that the Wise Old Mentor had a student wayyy before him who he trained to be the chosen one. Unlike your idea, this was a honest mistake on his part. Unfortunately said student couldn't cope with suddenly NOT being The Chosen One anymore and their relationship deteriorated from there until the student ran away and died in a cave shortly after. The mentor never told anyone about this because of bad memories so everyone is VERY surprised when in season 5 he comes back as a vengeful ghost, kidnaps the protagonist, possesses his body and tries to summon what amounts to an evil god to curse the world forever.
You’re right there’s definitely no csa there. Anyway if someone fucked up my psyche with chosen one nonsense and then went “oops my bad” I woulda died in a cave too. Of embarrassment

Ninjago if the Overlord didn’t exist
My favorite pastime is overthinking random ninjago lore, so here we go to remove one character and watch the entire series fall apart!!
If the Overlord doesn’t exist then neither does the Great Devourer, thus Garmadon isn’t evil
This means Wu has no need to hide the Golden Weapons pre-series or to assemble the og ninja considering no one’s trying to steal them
Also if Garmadon wasn’t evil then he wouldn’t have gone to Chen, intercepted Wu’s love letter, and eventually married Misako, so Lloyd doesn’t exist
Season two as a whole doesn’t happen
Neither does season three
Chen still exists tho. Presumably the serpentine wars would still occur as they did more or less as they did in canon
However, since the ninja have had no reason to be brought together, they meet for the first time during the tournament of elements (assuming they all unlock their true potentials on their own at some point prior to this)
Chen’s plan doesn’t work because Lloyd didn’t exist to free the serpentine, so no Pythor to make the spell permenant
Since Garmadon didn’t go off to study under Chen, either Wu never took Morro in, or Morro was trained by both brothers. Either way, I imagine his story to have a softer end in this au
Regardless, Lloyd doesn’t exist so there’s not a green ninja (and probably not even a ninja team at all at this point), and even if Morro did die vengeful, he wouldn’t be out and about considering Chen’s army failed on their own and Garmadon didn’t have to open the portal to the Cursed Realm
Someone could still have found Nadakhan’s teapot and freed him, but he would’ve just got his crew back and then gone back to Djinnjago, minding his own business and moving on with his life considering s5 didn’t happen and Nya didn’t kill the Preeminent and Djinnjago didn’t fall as a consequence
Season seven still happens tho!! In the sense that the time twins are here and causing problems on purpose, at least. We still don’t have a ninja team tho. I propose that Wu still loses that fight against Acronix and the disturbances in time cause concern across ninjago, leading the elemental alliance (that still formed in s4 (with Nya instead of Lloyd) to come together to figure shit out. The plot still mostly happens but since none of them know Wu, no one finds him and he just kinda dies (or Garmadon comes to rescue him and then joins the elemental master sin order to get the time blade to save his brother). Uhhhhh stuff plays out mostly the same except Garmadon gets lost to the time stream instead of Wu maybe
None of the elemental masters really know or care about Garmadon so they say some nice words about his sacrifice and move on with their lives
Seasons eight and nine don’t happen for an abundance of reason (removal of Harumi’s origin story, Garmadon ever being evil, and the Great Devourer ever existing in the first place)
The Oni still cause problems on purpose tho, but without any active FSM family members, the gang just kinda suffers. Maybe the og4 learned about the tornado of creation at some point, maybe Wu’s around to tell them about it now, whatever, we’re gonna assume they figured something out and the world didn’t end
Ok, so the ninja team consists of Kai, Nya, Jay, Cole, Zane, and a revolving door of other elemental masters that pull up from time to time (I like to think Skylor and Karlof are permanent members, but that’s just me). The squad is minding their own business
Because they haven’t been a proper team that long, they don’t have the same burn out they do in canon, and thus never release Aspheera out of sheer boredom, thus season eleven doesn’t happen
Prime Empire my beloved, she remains almost entirely intact unless I’m just missing something
Season thirteen also still happens
The Island doesn’t because neither Wu nor Misako are characters that have much presence in this au
Seabound still happens I think
Crystallized does not (refer to title of this post)
DR still happens -ish (since Lloyd never existed, the details are a bit iffy, but all the major conflicts still occur besides that)
And that’s on me still being awake and brainrotting legos at 2am
