Some headcanons regarding TMNT physiology

Over the years, I have come up with some headcanons regarding how I believe the Ninja Turtles' bodies work. I thought that perhaps it might be nice to finally share them with all of you.

These don't apply to all the iterations, of course, but they are pretty well universal in my mind, and I tend to incorporate most of them into my fanfics.

The Turtles (like leatherback sea turtles, echidnas, and some dinosaurs) are mesotherms, meaning they are neither warm nor cold blooded. They are, instead, in a middle-ground: they internally generate heat, but not to a constant temperature. In the Turtles' case, they will shiver when cold, and their bodies will not shut down right away when the temperature dips too low, though they may lose some energy and find it hard to concentrate.

Unlike many other modern reptiles and amphibians, who have a three-chambered heart, the Turtles have four-chambered hearts (like mammals and dinosaurs) that are larger and stronger than average human hearts and located at the center of their chests.

While the average human blood capacity is around five liters, the Turtles have about seven. Much of the blood flows under the shell -- a remnant of their lives as ordinary turtles, whose own blood does so in order to warm them when they bask. This means that the Turtles could lose close to three liters of blood before dying, while a human would only be able to lose two.

Their blood is also highly efficient at clotting, but that also means that storing blood for transfusions is difficult, and so must be directly transfused from one turtle to another in emergency situations.

Owing to their extensive circulatory system, they also have a larger lung capacity than humans and more oxygen-rich blood, and so are able to hold their breath for extended periods of time without adverse effects. Other than this, the Turtles' respiratory system is very much like humans', utilizing a diaphragm to inflate and deflate their lungs.

Like regular turtles, they do not have ribs, but rather their carapaces and plastrons serve that purpose, and they have muscles under their shells that keep their internal organs right where they belong.

Also like regular turtles, their spines curve along the insides of their shells. A direct hit on the center of their shells, then, could cause damage to their spinal column and nervous system, but fortunately their vertebral shields offer a fair amount of protection, so it would take quite an impact.

The Turtles are highly resistant to most infections and diseases, which increases their immunological responses. They do not get sick easily, and they recover quickly.

While their scales are not apparent, they are integrated into their skin, making it tougher than human skin. It takes a very hard hit to raise a bruise, and it is difficult to cut through without a very sharp or pointed blade.

Their bones are similar to humans, but are more resistant to breaking. They also heal quicker and stronger if they are broken.

Their muscles are also very close to human-like, but they are stronger than an average human due to compensating for the extra weight they carry in their shells. Because of this, their ligaments and tendons are also tougher, and it is difficult for them to have a joint dislocated.

Their sense of smell is more acute than humans, but not to an extreme degree. They are also not as bothered by foul smells (though this has more to do with living in a sewer than their physiology).

Their eyes are a bit tougher and more resistant to damage than human eyes due to a protective membrane that covers them. They see a bit better than humans in dark places and underwater.

Their hearing is somewhat more attuned to lower frequencies than human hearing, and is not dependent on external ears but rather an internal auditory system (making direct damage to their hearing unlikely).

They are capable of being knocked unconscious, but it takes a significant impact. Permanent or lingering damage to their brains is unlikely due to their structure, and so they also do not tend to suffer the same side-effects that humans would in the same circumstances (nausea, memory loss, etc.).

Although their nutritional needs are similar to humans, they do not need to eat every day, and in fact can get by quite well without food for a week if necessary (though they won't enjoy it). When food is readily available, however, they will eat as much as possible to store up energy. Their metabolism does not slow down when they do not eat, so overexerting themselves when they haven't had any food for a while can burn them out suddenly.

Their sleep schedules are much like most diurnal animals, though they are able to stay awake for extended periods of time and can get by on little sleep, if necessary. There have been times when they have been awake for days on end, getting by on short one hour naps here and there. In general, though, they like to have a regular sleep/wake cycle.

Like other reptiles, the Turtles never stop growing throughout their lifetimes; however their growth is slow, topping off at about 1-2 inches every five years.

HEHE THE HYPERFIXATION CONTINUES this took my several hours bc i draw so slowly and dont realize it so that was great but i really like them ^^

Raph is a great white just bc I thought it fit, Mike is a leopard shark bc of spots and bc little, Leo is a pelagic thresher bc he’s a speedy boy, and Donnie is a shortfin mako bc they’re very smart!

I was trying to find an equivalent to sharks for Donnie and his soft shell but i couldn’t think of a species specific thing so I’ve decided that when they were rescued my Lou, he got burn damage to his snout where his sensing organs are and since sharks rely on that organ a lot due to they’re poor eyesight, he can struggle in seeing things. Technically they all have awful eyesight but the others can sense the electro magnetic fields and whatever so they’re good. Hence Don needs glasses and just still struggles beyond that.

Ummmmm yeah so they all have tails and dorsal fins and little fins on their tails. They each have sets of gills on their necks and rib area while also having lungs. They can breathe underwater then, they just have to keep their mouths closed. I also think their lair situation would be the same with more pools for them since they do like water but their human characteristics don’t make them dependent. Maybe just water lovers and avid moisturizers.

Okay it's Saturday here but I'm sure it's still Friday somewhere right?? HAPPY BI BUCK TO EVERYONE!!!! This fic is inspired entirely by That Kiss, and it sparked me to make a 7x06 spec fic. So, please enjoy what will hopefully be the only snippet (godwilling) of the Why Are Buck and Eddie So Dirty At Madney's Wedding fic. This snippet is from the very beginning and yes, it is Bucktommy (for now), no I will not apologise for it. Enjoy!

“You-you’ve never called me that before” he breathes. Tommy brushes the pad of his thumb over Buck’s bottom lip, releasing it from his teeth. He brushes his other hand through Buck’s hair, fingers threading through his yet-to-be-tamed curls. “What, baby?” he asks, grinning as Buck’s eyes flutter shut at the utterance of the name once again. “Is that okay?” ‘Y-yeah,” Buck nods, leaning forwards to brush their noses together again, angling his face up in an implicit request for a kiss. “I kinda liked it.” Tommy hums out a laugh and Buck feels it reverberate deep in his chest. “I’ll keep that in mind,” he says softly, and he hooks his finger under Buck’s chin, just like he did the first time they kissed, and captures Buck’s lips with his. Every time he’s kissed by Tommy, Buck is introduced to a whole other side of the word “soft”. He’s had the feminine “soft” plenty of times, with the way Abby would curl into him after a long shift, or how Ali would brush his hair from his forehead with her nimble fingers, and even on the rare occasion with Taylor, when she was sleepy and would crawl into his arms and fall asleep in seconds.  With Tommy, it’s different. Tommy holds Buck like he’s a fragile egg, smoothing his thumbs over the cracks and balancing him in his palm. He’s soft in the way he holds Buck to his chest, or the way he kisses Buck’s hair while they’re watching a movie, or how he knows when Buck’s had a bad shift and needs to get out of his head for a bit, and will come over with pizza and beer and promises of kisses.  He’s soft in the way he presses his palm to the small of Buck’s back when they’re out together, but not as if he’s pushing Buck in a certain direction. More like he’s grounding Buck, showing him that he’s allowed to be out, happy, with a man.

Random ninjago headcanons

Nya, Jay, PIXAL, and Zane are the most mechanically gifted of the team

Jay used to love building cars and big mechanical things but as he got older he started getting more interested in coding

Now Nya builds the things and Jay helps her code them

Zane taught Cole how to cook and bake better

Lloyd looks normal. Like freakishly normal. Like, skin too perfect of a shade, eyes too symmetrical, hair the perfect shade of blonde, etc.

Kai hates swimming but loves the beach because it’s nice and warm and sunny

Zane follows to the law to a concerning degree

PIXAL…does not

She considers the law more guidelines than actual rules

Jay and Lloyd taught Kai how to use his cellphone

Nya and Zane have who can hold their breath underwater the longest contests

The rest of the team finally started liking cliff gordon movies after Jay told them that was his bio dad

The rest of the ninja had tons of recurring dreams about someone asking them to wish it all away 

Jay and Nya finally told them everything that had happened

Jay’s hair was always curly, he just didn’t know when he was younger and brushed it out weirdly so it was a frizzy mess and then he would tame it with tons of hair gel

Pre-season 8 Jay is the only person to ever come close to rivaling the amount of hair gel Kai uses

No one really has their own clothes at the momentary because everyone raids everyone’s closets

ESPECIALLY Nya and Lloyd

Lloyd started it when he was really little, Nya started it as a show of power

Now everyone steals everyone’s clothes

The only way PIXAL can change her hair is using welding

She only trusts Nya to help her with that

Jay and Nya take weekly ballroom dancing classes

After Prime Empire the rest of the ninja will sometimes join them

Lloyd calls Kai and Nya his brother and sister in his head but he hasn’t had the guts to call them that out loud

Every so often the ninja do karaoke

Jay and Nya always do some sort of romantic duet (with varying degrees of success) 

Kai, Cole, and Jay team up to sing rock songs

Zane is a surprisingly good singer 

So is Lloyd

Jay stayed in touch with Unagami after prime empire 

Cole and Vania write letters to each other on the regular, usually filled with whatever dumb stuff the ninja did and what the Upply and other inhabitants of Shintaro are currently up to

The ninja have a giant groupchat with all the elemental masters and the only texts ever sent are usually embarrassing photos of someone screwing up their own element 

Zane might be the mom of the group but Kai is concerningly good at any and all type of housework

Cole is the middle child. I stand by this

Jay has way too many pins and buttons on his backpack

Lloyd has a massive sweet tooth

He and Cole go for candy and cake runs whenever they can 

Jay is not allowed to go shopping because he buys the most random things

Kai and Jay are the clumsiest ninja

Ever since PIXAL became part of the ninja Cyrus Borg has begun to consider the ninja as his children as well

All of the ninja are insanely competitive

Nya helped Cole get over his fear of water after turning back to human

Dareth and Ronin are the ninja’s weird uncle 

Jay loves musical theatre

Kai, Jay, and Cole recreated the Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon versus Maul fight while Zane sang/played the music. young Lloyd recorded it and now threatens to show it to Nya and PIXAL whenever everyone’s being stupid

PIXAL curses the most out of everyone

Kai doesn’t curse because when he was younger he tried to keep Nya from learning curse words and that transferred to Lloyd as well

Jay’s natural freckles are super light and unable to see unless you’re super close up

Nya was the first to find out he had freckles one of the first times they were cuddling together after season 6

She absolutely adored them and so he draws over them with a darker pencil so that they’re more visible 

Jay loves drawing and doodling but doesn’t get into painting until after seabound 

Cole and Nya have arm wrestling contests 

Zane almost always wins paper rock clamp, the only people who can ever beat him is PIXAL and weirdly Kai

Kai is great at riddles. no idea why

One time Jay put food dye in Kai’s hair gel and he didn’t notice 

Kai’s hair had a blue sheen for weeks

The resulting prank war nearly destroyed the monestary 

It ended when someone managed to fill each person’s room with things relating to their elemental power

Zane’s room was full of ice and snow, everything in Nya’s room was soaked with water, Kai’s furniture was on fire, Jay’s blankets were so full of static electricity he nearly knocked himself out, Cole’s room was packed full of boulders, PIXAL’s room was somehow full of a ton of remote controlled robots, and Lloyd’s room was full of green balloons. 

They never did find the culprit

seven sentence sunday!

“I just feel we don't hang out as much as we used to.” Eddie murmurs quietly. So quiet Buck almost misses it. “You're always with Tommy, which is— good. You deserve to be happy. And if he makes you happy, then that's… good. It's good.”

Buck wants to argue and say he doesn’t go on dates with Tommy. He did, twice. And then that ended and now sometimes they hang out and Tommy gives him flying lessons or invites him for a drink— most of the time they fuck in Buck’s apartment and then watch whatever's on Netflix and drink beer. Not exactly romantic..

Eddie probably doesn't want to hear any of that, though, and Buck isn't sure how to begin to explain it. Why is it that he doesn't go on dates with Tommy? Why doesn't he want to go on dates with this perfectly fine and nice man that seems like a good match for Buck on paper.

Yeah, that's a Pandora Box Buck isn’t particularly keen on opening over the phone at two in the morning with Eddie drunk on the other line.

“Okay?”

“But I miss you. Miss spending time with just you.”

“I thought you liked Tommy.”

“It's not that I don't like him, it's just—”

“Okay, stop.” Buck snaps and then immediately softens his voice. “Tell me where you are so we can have this conversation in person.”

Eddie mutters something unintelligible under his breath.

“What was that?”

Eddie sighs and Buck can picture it so well, as good as if Eddie were right in front of him and pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration and embarrassment. “I'm at The Sanctuary.”

Buck literally hears a disco scratch in his head. “Y-you're at a gay bar?”

instead of working on my existing wips i started a new one last night, so get ready for another drunk buck fic! hehe!

Buck stumbled forward suddenly, moving into Eddie’s space and Eddie had to grab him around his waist to keep him steady. Eddie’s heart felt like it was beating out of control. He was very aware that Natalia was watching them, an expression on her face that he couldn’t really decipher and didn’t spend too long trying. Buck was in his space, warm and alive and he was touching Eddie, his breath fanning across Eddie’s cheek. “Eddie,” Buck whined, pressing closer. “I wanna go home.”

“We are, sweetheart. Don’t worry,” Eddie soothed, the pet name slipping out unbidden. Shit. He was fucking it all up. Here he was, with his hands all over Buck and calling him pet names right in front of Buck’s girlfriend! God, he was a dick.

Clearing his throat, Eddie pushed Buck away as gently as he could, studiously ignoring the wounded sound Buck made. “Um, okay, let’s go. Uh, Natalia, do you want a ride?” He offered, trying to make it up to her. Like sorry I’m in love with your boyfriend, can I give you a ride home?

Nya Jiang-The Omnipotent Guardian.

While the Fire Ninja turned into The Conqueror through insanity and his insecurities, his sister, the Water Ninja fell from grace in a different manner.

The Green One focused more on her guilt, grief and shame. Causing her to lose focus the moment her brother turned to evil.

Feeling guilty for causing the loss of her brother, The Water Ninja lost all ability to focus during one of her missions, upon which she encountered her brother and lost.

Being thrown into the sea, many believe she drowned in her own element, however few already knew the aftermath.

Once sunken into the deep sea, the Green One tried to tempt The Water Ninja beckoning her to join his side, slowly he began to drown her, bargaining her own life, in an act of desperation, The Water One became one with the Sea once more…

Due to the fight for control, a portion of the Water Ninja’s soul remained intact and unaffected by the transformation. Now in the deep depths of the sea, she rules with an iron fist, signaling out outsiders who dared to enter her domain.

The original inhabitants fled to the Sea when The Green One fell, causing them to worship her as a benevolent Sea Guardian.

And so…with a heavy heart, she guards the sea with all her might, tearing away those who dared trespass into the dark depths of the Ocean.

This took me a long time due to my endless search for references and design ideas (Still not final on the throne) but finally I was able to do her.

So for Nya I decided to bring back Seabound her but mix it in with the DTIYS I saw a few months back that held the inspiration of Nya going evil and getting control over Merlopia.

For me, it was hard to make Nya turn evil without brainwashing her or making her too bland, so I decided with this twist.

Funnily enough, only The Jiang Siblings actually wear armor in the Ninjago Villain AU and that was a complete accident.

For the purposes of this AU almost every single Ninja gets a complete power buff so they’ll be able to do things in a much grander scale than ever before. For Nya this instance she can make it so you can breathe underwater.

She believes every single Ninja or anyone from the surface world is either corrupted or dead which is why she doesn’t care who ends up coming up to her shore, they just die. Most notably she and Lloyd have the same goal except for Nya she has a plan to drown literally everyone on the surface and remake it into Ninjago 2.0 (Aka bring it back to when Ninjago only had two inhabitants with The Merlopians and The Keepers)

Sh doesn’t move from her throne, but you bet that she’s listening if you are one of the lucky ones who end up living in her waters.

You're a strong Ninja, of course you are as you're from a powerful—but also rare, almost extinct—Clan, but there's always someone who might could beat you in a moment of battle—because the opponent is just a tiny bit more stronger, surpassing your strength in a much higher, different, league than yourself are capable off—and Sasuke, whenever it happens—not constantly, but often enough—is reminded that you're not invincible like him, that you could get fatally hurt one day.

Just like now.

Sasuke had decided last minute to take a different path, a more time consuming detour actually, to the City you and Sasuke wanted to visit next during his Wandering journey, than what actually path had been set up on the map before.

Walking along the river, your fingers holding Sasuke's, a grand and broad one, was calm—beautiful view, much better—and you did said it to Sasuke, to which he only replied in his hn mannerisms and saying curtly afterwards something about scenery changes—than the constant walking through thick forests.

Sasuke wouldn't dare to admit to you, because if he does he would flush so redden hard in embarrassment, that he had listen to your—albeit meant as playful jests—complaining and wishes of not wanting to constantly only see trees and bushes and even more trees, because you two always choose the Forest route when you're encountering one during the wandering.

But the calm day didn't last long as you two had been ambushed by outlaw Nin's and Sasuke, such chances are always high and mostly the reason, suspected it was because of your bloodline—there's a reward bounty placed on you, whoever captured and brought you back—after all your clan's Kekke Genkai is still considered a rarity in—your once former home country—the Land of Water.

At first it looked good, you having the upper hand in the fight—easily able to defend yourself and attack the opponent Ninja's with efficiency damage, thanks to your Kekkei Genkei—but than Sasuke hears you screaming out in pain and, barely able to see what's going on as he himself is busy with fighting his own opponents, get a glimpse of how the Ninja throws you—having you in a tight chokehold—and himself into the depths of the river.

And Sasuke kills off the remaining enemies, before dive jumping into the river as well—there's no current flow to be careful about, but it's the depths which worries Sasuke as he knows—despite you growing up in a land surrounded by water and your Kekke Genkai consisting based entirely out of water—you aren't a good swimmer, terrible at it to say and there's this slight fear of drowning in you.

Squinting his eyes, swimming deeper towards the ground—the water is clear, but blurry enough to not have a proper view at all—Sasuke sees you struggling with the enemy Nin as he tries to choke you, air bubbles escaping so fast from your mouth—just like his own oxygen in his lungs and Sasuke had to swim back up to the surface, taken a deep breath once more, before diving back in and down—and these wounds on your body, blood still leaking out, aren't looking to be something like a tiny stab.

Using Chidori would be a terrible idea to do so, it's a no-go attack right now, you would definitely getting hurt by it as well—but there aren't many options left to free you without bringing you more harm.

Kicking away the guy from you, to have you free from his choking hold—your eyes are closed and now you just lay motionless on the sandy ground—and giving the guy a quick, deep, stab into the chest, fighting underwater is not Sasuke's fortune—it's more yours, but at the same time not—and he does struggle a bit here.

Sasuke heaves you up, one arm around securely around your waist, swimming back up—having to take a deep inhale of breath first, his lungs burning from the deep diving—pulling himself and you out of the river and back onto the ground.

Checking your pulse and Sasuke's breath hitched just a little bit, when feeling none—places his ear onto your chest, where your heart is supposed to be, but it's still and doesn't beat.

Sasuke performs CPR on you—just how you have taught him years ago, when you met him the first time and decided to tag along—doing chest compression, moving your head slightly up-and backwards, pinching your nose and doing mouth-to-mouth—repeating the process a few times.

Taking a gaps of breath, Sasuke closed his eyes in relief for a second, you sputtered out the water from your lungs—but you weren't completely fit, wound still oozing with blood and Sasuke didn't waste anymore time—because there might could be still other Enemy Ninja's coming as backup—scooping you up into his arms and disappearing into the thick forest, searching for a safe spot.

For a moment Sasuke had thought, when laying you down onto his coat—after finding a small cave and these minutes of finding such safe enough place, felt agonising slow—he had lost you for real now, your heart stopped beating again and he had to perform CPR once more.

Sasuke is thankful that Sakura had been so kind to taught him some bits of Medical Jujutsu as well—he really needs to search for a gift for her to show his gratitude, when you and him are back in Konoha—otherwise Sasuke wouldn't have been able to heal you, because you're the one who does all the medical care in the first place.

»[Name].«

You hummed in response, snuggling closer into Sasuke's arms—when he had laid down next to you, after finishing up his first-aid work.

»Maybe we should go back to Konoha.«

»Already?« you ask, »But we're not even halfway through our wandering.«

»It's better, considering you're still a Target and–«

»I'm a target.« you repeated with a defeated sigh, interrupting Sasuke, »I know I am.«

His arms tightened around you, giving you a squeeze of comfort, »It's safer there. You're not a refugee anymore, but a citizen now, don't forget this.«

It's the best option—Sasuke concludes—once back in village, Sensei Kakashi will appoint a few Anbus as your guards—just like it had been done with Satoshi, Shikamarus husband, whose also your best friend and Sasuke knew—even though you don't say it out loud in his presence—you miss your friends and the fun, the bounding of meeting at lunch and talking, you (still) get to experience.

»Can we at least–« a groan left your lips, when you moved a bit—the pain spiking up and Sasuke hushing out a small apology—in form of a kiss—when he used medical jujutsu again, which isn't as gentle as Sakura's.

»–go to the city first, before we go back?«

I gave in and started writing a Bucktommy fic because I love them so so much. Someone tell me to study instead of obsessing over these men. Please… I have 5 assignments and 2 tests. I need to stop thinking of these boys. Bucktommy kiss has been watched so many times I see it when I blink.

Anyway… I love bucktommy so here have this:

When Eddie leaves Buck waits approximately 13 seconds before he’s taking out his phone and calling Tommy.

“Evan?” Tommy answers. And fuck, Buck can not get over him saying his name. It’s just his name. But also, it’s his name!!! There’s something so right with the way Tommy says it. He’d never really cared for his first name. It was too associated with his past and his parents. But— but Tommy says it and it has him feeling something he isn’t yet able to explain. He’s discovered this amazing part of himself, and to properly acknowledge and appreciate that side of him he needs to be Evan. Because healing starts with Evan.

“I- I told Eddie,” Buck starts. “About- about us. Or well, about me.”

Tommy’s silent on the phone for a moment and Buck wonders if he’s made a big mistake in calling. He should have let it go. Tommy doesn’t want him—

“Oh yeah?” Tommy says, and Buck lets out a small breath of relief.

“Um, yeah. And- and I know you said I wasn’t ready. But- but listen, I really like you, okay? And I want to go out with you. And I’m sorry I hid our relationship but-but I told Eddie now, okay? So would you- would you go out with me again?” Buck says, stumbling through his words, trying and failing not to let his desperation show.

There’s another pause and then Buck hears a light chuckle on the other end of the line. “Yeah, Evan. That would be nice.”

“It’s you who made this conversation about Chris. And I-I said to myself ‘ok, I’m not here as the romantic partner, so it’s good Taylor is here because it was stupid to think Eddie might love me.’ ‘I really should move on’ was inside my mind on repeat when I saw Ana at your welcome home party. And I thought I did. For a really long time I believed I moved on from you, especially when I couldn't take anyone's grief about my death,” Eddie flinches as if Buck hit him. 

“I-I couldn’t take even your grief, Eddie. Especially yours. Because I was on the other side not once, Ed...”

“YOU DON’T KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO SEE SOMEONE YOU LOVE IS DEAD. YOU DON’T KNOW HOW IT FUCKS YOU UP,” Eddie screams, but after a second his face pales.

Buck lost his voice for a moment, looking at his best friend as if Eddie hit him hard in his solar plexus. Buck wishes he did. It would hurt less that the deep knife Eddie drove into his heart with his words.

How dare this man tell him he doesn't know what it is like to believe someone, you love more than life, is dead? To him? When he was there all the time Eddie was close to death, but for Buck he was dead? Even if just for minutes but Buck lived in the world where Eddie was dead. Because no matter what he never gives up and tries to stay optimistic he still hardly believes the universe will let him be happy and have Eddie alive and always with him. 

How dare Eddie say him he doesn’t know how it fucks you up?

Eddie himself is sitting so perfectly still that it looks uncomfortable, like he’s hardly daring to breathe for fear of waking Buck up. Even with only the light of the projector illuminating the room, Chimney can see the blush high on Eddie’s cheeks. Chimney gently nudges Maddie to get her attention, then subtly inclines his head towards her brother. She glances over at Buck and Eddie quickly, and turns back to him with a smirk on her face.

HERE ME OUT ON THIS IDEA.

I'm thinking Randy should have a team, maybe even a new generation of the Finja's Norisu 9! I had this idea puzzling in my head that despite being Norrisville's hero, Randy is also its only protector, meaning he has little time to balance both his lives while trying to handle large and insane monsters.

Hence why the Nomicon or The Creep decides that he needed a team as more chapters open up, which allow him to develop trust and relationships between each one. Some you may not expect and others you may.

Yeah, it's a bit cliché like Miraculous, but unlike that show, it's not a part time thing and they have better chemistry!

So about the Mantles

The Nine Mantles are given to the Norisu 9 in order to gain more abilities to fight The Sorcerer and any foes that come in their way. Each of them hold a significant power to the spirit they're connected with, and they will continue to increase whenever their bonds grew close.

About 8 of the Mantles had been sealed, with the exception of the ninth who had thought of it as a battle than an understanding. All of those seals remained the backbones of what aided The Ninja's journey.

Only 8 of them sworn the breaths to protect the world from danger... died protecting it.

Only 1 remained the longest...

-THE TENGU -

The Tengu, or you may remember, is The Mantle for the Red Ninja - Primarily known as The Ninja of Norrisville. Even so, the Ninja suit and mask are created using the key bindings of various Yokai, mainly The Tengu.

This mantle is for the dutiful, but its true strength is for the heart of gold. Even after certain... Mishaps and contradictions, the mantle ends up in the hands of its rightful user.

The mantle gives the power of all elements, mainly Fire as its usage; however, to unlock the other elements, the user has to take time, patience, and understanding in the studies.... Unless the user has ADHD and tends to overthink or ignore said lesson.

At least, he's quick to learn his mistakes and fix them...

The Tengu Mantle remains as the longest mantle used, specifically for the purpose of The Norrisville Ninja Legacy; however, not many people have gained its true form except for one.

- THE ONI -

The Oni is the Mantle for the Orange Ninja. It is made by the thunderous orge themselves after the original user taught a young Oni the power of rebellion. Unlike the Ninja, they only have the mask, which acts as a semi-sentient companion to the user when needed.

This mantle is for the rebellious but protective - the wolves who will tear down flesh of their hunters in order to protect their young. They do not stand for any rules, oppressions, or signs of tolerance if that's the only option to win a fight. To fight for peace, you have to strike down with all your strength.

The Oni mantle gives the user the powers of the Oni, mainly thunder and force. They also act as an amplifier or enabler, upgrading the other mantles' abilities if they needed to. Kinda like a.. Machine, but they have enough sentience to be human.

The Oni mantle has been used for 4 times during the long legacy of the Ninja, but the current user is still pending...

The Kappa is the mantle used for the Yellow Ninja. The mantle is crafted with the help of the underwater creatures, including the Kappa, designed specifically for the Heart of Compassion.

As stated before, this mantle is for the compassion, those who chose kindness and empathy rather than merciless slaughter and rage. They help protect other allies from going too far with violence and soften them up in order to focus. Even though they do not react with violence themselves, they still use strength and power to weaken their enemies rather than to resolve it with peace. Even if it makes them look weak, they are still powerful in the eyes of the Ninja.

The Kappa Mantle gives the users abilities of the Kappa, using magical energy rather than physical strength. They have hydrokinesis and can control or manifest any forms of water at their will. They are also one of the few members that debuffs any curses or uncontrollable effects inflicted at their allies.

The Kappa mantle have been used 2 times, and the current user is still pending...

Before she inherits the mask, she must twirl around her conflicts while maintaining her heart pure from temptation.

Using powerful gauntlets, The Tanuki can make one soft punch into a heavy blow instantly. They can adapt quickly to their new sense of power, shifting their abilities with every creative usage and transformation. The Green Ninja uses this to defend their allies or themselves if enemies surprise them. They also use it to stun enemies if necessary.

Between the chaotic tricks and brute force, The Tanuki rely on ground mana, manipulating the pressure of the earthbound physically or magically. They can also solidify or liquid any earthly material if they focus hard enough.

Their ninja stars can attack various enemies while floating in the air, without any specific aim or structure. The user can also manipulate the control of the atmosphere, removing any excessive effects or confusing their enemies. Opposite of the Tanuki mantle, the Kamaitchi can manipulate forms of gas if there is space in the matter, using them to their advantage if possible. Sometimes, the user of this mantle can battle through interactive forms, such as imitating, shadowing, or break-dancing. Whatever works, works.

To counterattack or prevent this situation, the Kamaitchi must pace themselves, learn masterful techniques in order to stay vigilant.

THE BAKENEKO

The Bakeneko, or Neko, is the mantle for the Purple Ninja, manifested by the sacrifices and curses from the paws of the Bakeneko and its helpful twin, the Nekomata. This mantle is specified for the Heart of the Mind.

The wielder of the Bakeneko has the power of alternating reality at their will. They can create and summon spells and cast curses upon their enemies while they sleep. They can also control shadows and teleport in the dark, popping out when you least expect them. If they are not using powers, the Bakeneko can either shape-shift their scarves into claws and whips, or they can use the bladed hat to cut their enemies. If the user is cursed or stanked, the Bakaneko can control their stanked form and vaporize it away with focus and control. They also can summon minions, ordering them in battle when necessary. Despite this destructive and obviously not heroic deed, the mantle is picky on its user.

The user for this mantle must be open-minded, learning the white, black, and greys of the world around them. No matter what ill-witted lies or deceits their thoughts sprouted out, the user chooses to control the darkness rather than the other way around. No selfishness or unwanted attention, but the need to balance the world if the darkness overwhelms it.

THE KITSUNE

The Kitsune is the mantle specified for the Pink Ninja, and it's made by the deal and trickery of the powerful Kitsune itself. The powerful deity swore that this mantle would be the most powerful for the Heart of the Soul.

Like the Bakaneko, the Kitsune can alter reality and shapeshift; however, they can also split themselves, making 999 clones. The Kitsune can also turn the user into an actual giant fox if tempted, able to stomp through trees or climb the highest of mountains. Along with their magical powers, the mantle gives the users magical daggers, which can be thrown and controlled by orders. Unlike the other mantles, the Kitsune can jump into people's minds and read certain memories and feelings for information. Additionally, in their animal form, they can manifest visual presentations by eating the memories of their target and spewing out a magical mist, turning the target's perception against them.

The user for this mantle is a wild card, known for their ideals to either protect their friends or seek the truth through the fog, no matter the cost. If it's the latter, then the Kitsune must acknowledge their reasons, whether to judge, manipulate, or understand their targets' inner selves. They are not prone to their own idealizations or illusions, so they must attach themselves to reality, even if reality holds bounds to their faults and flaws.

this is from buck is an idiot fic im writing rn <33 i wanted to finish it today and post but its not looking good so im probably gonna post tomorrow.

Just then, before a full protest can fall from Buck's lips, ‘Cowboy Take Me Away’ by The Chicks starts blasting through the ambulance, filling the space with the cheesy tune.

Buck's cheeks flush and he sits up a little straighter, stifling an embarrassing whimper as he reaches his hand out and makes a grabbing gesture with his fingers.

“That's, uh— my phone. Can you hand it over?”

“We need to take you to a hospital. And clean your wound. And—”

“Just give me my damn phone, man.” Buck most definitely does not whine.

Pain is still washing over him in waves and his abdomen feels like it's burning from inside out— although the intensity of it is slowly, oh so slowly, fading away as the seconds pass. Or maybe the blood loss is making Buck too dizzy and weak to notice. Whatever.

When Adams reluctantly passes the phone over, Buck takes a deep breath before answering, only hissing a little when the slight movement makes the gash in his abdomen sting with a sharp pinch.

His thumb shakes and it takes him a couple of tries before he finally answers the call, just as its about to send Eddie to voicemail.

“Hey, man. What's up?”

Buck tries to make his voice sound calmed and unbothered, casual— and he thinks he mostly succeeds if the paramedics' annoyed and unamused stares are anything to go by.

“Hey, Buck. Are you busy right now?” Eddie's voice sounds strained and has an edge to it, that immediately has Buck frowning with worry and concern.

“Uh,” Buck looks down at his exposed abdomen where blood is still, even if slow and thin, gushing out of his wound. The skin around it looking red and… not good at all. “Nah, man. I'm not doing anything, why? Is Chris okay?”

“He's fine. We're fine.” Eddie sighs and Buck can picture the man pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration so well that it's like he's right in front of Eddie, watching him instead of just on the phone with him. “He's just really testing my patience today. Turns out there's a bake sale at his school tomorrow for a trip? And he has to take fifty cupcakes.”

“Ah,” Buck nodes. ignoring Miller and Adam's raised eyebrows. “Say no more. I'll be there as soon as I can.”

“You're panting. Are you sure you're not busy?”

“I went for a run, but it's okay. I'm done with it anyway.”

“Oh,” Buck can't be sure, but Eddie sounds… disappointed? But then he's talking again, and Buck pushes that little moment to the back of his mind. “Can you swing by the grocery store too? We need ingredients.”

Buck looks down at his wound one more time and sighs. “Sure. I can totally do that.”

“Thanks, man. See you in a bit?”

“Yeah, see you soon.”
