When I was little I loved whenever they made books to accompany my favourite fantasy sagas, explaining the magic system etc and adding information to the world building (the most famous example I can think of are the ones made for harry potter but my absolute favourite was this one about an italian fantasy series about alchemy that looked like an old book and had 100-200 pages worth of illustrations, already existing wouldbuilding and new informations that I used to pretend also being an alchemist). Anyway what I am saying is that ever since I have started putting my worldbuilding in a little notebook, using watercolours to make the pages look all old and parchment-like, I am feeling like I am making one of these and I am becoming very nostalgic about it

Also if someone wants a book that has the same vibe but without Rowling shit: I recommend "Nina la bambina della Sesta Luna" series. The author, Moony Witcher, is almost not known and so she isn't a politican and buying her books wouldn't affect anybody.

There's only one problem: as I know, it wasn't translated to English, but there's surely versions in Italian and Russian languages. If someone knows these languages, you can read these books, they're cool! It's not really about magic, more about alchemy, but it's still better than HP.
