The daily planet runs a front page article calling superman the light of mankind

Cue the batfam launching a counter campaign in support of Signal,  the real Light of Mankind.

It starts as a joke but quickly derails into an all out war.

AU Where the Justice League forms as usual except for one slight difference where Bruce just so happens to have been the one superheroing for the longest. (Excluding Diana, who got up to it in World War 1 and then mostly didn't while she learned about Man's World)

Bruce helps form the Justice League, ignoring all of the comments as they come to the sudden realization that Gotham's baby cryptid story is actually a man in a very intimidating armored suit who can and will break your arm if you cause problems for him. They are unaware that this is not the first team he's led, and actually he's used to teams full of mostly teenagers who also happen to be his children. This should be easier, this team is primarily adults.

He realizes rapidly that he doesn't understand these people.

His kids take bonding activities to mean learning a dozen different ways to break someones leg. That doesn't fly with these people. And that is most of Bruce's ideas, hell when he was a kid Alfred took every opportunity to get him out of his room and mostly that was with the agreement that Alfred would teach him how to defend himself. He's come by it honestly.

This team is not easier. They have more drama than when his house was actually full of kids. It's insane. He doesn't know what to do with it, usually he just sent the kids to their rooms or grounded them from patrol. That doesn't work here.

He comes to a strange crossroads. That falls apart when he forgets who he's working with and snaps at Hal with a full room of heroes that the next person to throw a punch or an insult without a reason too will be sparring with him.

A long standing rule in the batcave that worked two fold to prevent infighting between the kids and too ensure that they were well and truly trained.

It works wonders. No one says a word out of line for the rest of the debrief. Bruce becomes the unofficial mediator of the league over Clark because anytime he walked in on a fight it suddenly became 10 times more civil out of sheer terror of what he'd do to them in a sparring match.

Eventually they actually meet his kids. Well, one kid.

Half way through a mission (one of the rare ones in Gotham) the Bat comes to a complete stop at the edge of an alley. Every single league member on the team comes to a stop behind him. Slowly from the shadows of the alley a man in a red helmet stalks out to greet them.

"You don't call, you don't write"

"Red Hood."

"Don't Red Hood me! We've been worried sick!"

"I was at the cave last night."

"You didn't answer my texts B. You always answer my texts."

Somehow it ends with big and scary following them through the rest of the mission with a running commentary of how much Bats has let him down in his failure to respond in a timely manner to a text send less than an hour before he ran into them in the alley. It only ends when Red Robin shows up.

And even then it only ends because Hood can't keep himself from throwing a punch and Bruce has to snap at him that if he throws another one they're sparring when they get home.

And by god is Jason giving up the chance to punch his brothers.

Jason and Damian stay with the League. They’re basically royalty and functionally generals, completing missions with Talia and serving Ra’s and the needs of their family.

As such, a large portion of that is maintaining a public cover. Talia lives a very public life that she uses for political maneuvers.

Jason attends college and Damian attends school, everything is public record and on visas.

However, it isn’t until Bruce is required to attend one of Lex’s galas in Metropolis that he becomes aware of Talia’s status as a Mother.

It’s also the first time he meets her sons.

Cut to Bruce blue-screening as Talia introduces Jason and Damian al Ghul, who are the very picture of upper class royalty.

Nightwing and Robin are immediately in his ear over comms (teamed up with Uncle Clark to foil whatever plot is going on) asking what’s wrong as Bruce can’t take his eyes off his dead son and a child that looks like the spitting image of his father.

Selkie Jason thought. If their seal form ages at a similar rate to humans, Jason’s gonna be a cute lil pup until late into his teenage years. Seal pups don’t leave their mothers until they’re fully self sufficient (also the same time they’re fully weened). Humans aren’t usually fully self sufficient until around 18-20. Aka, that seal pup still needs a bottle of milk until he’s like 16 human years.

I think it’d be really funny if before he became Robin, Tim saw Batman doing some shit he didn’t like and was like, “Hmm, gotta fix that.”

Then went about it in the most-annoying-kid way possible.

Like, Tim sees Batman send Robin home even though Jason wasn’t sick (he would know) and didn’t have a test (he’d know this too). So the next morning, he skateboards up to Wayne Manor when he knows Jason is at school, Alfred is doing a grocery run, and Bruce is most likely trying to catch up on sleep.

He rings the doorbell seven times.

Bruce watches on a security monitor after being woken up as his neighbor’s kid ding dong ditches him and then takes off down the driveway on his skateboard. He’s so baffled by it that he doesn’t even ask himself why the kid isn’t in school.

This happens four more times before Bruce makes the connection and thinks, “This has something to do with Batman.”

A Goofy Movie, but it's Bruce and Dick navigating Dick's teenager years and desire for independence, with Bruce learning that he will not lose his boy by letting him grow up. They are still vigilantes, not civilians, and Dick is older than Max was in the movie.

Bruce would have probably already known, no amount of voice modulator or body padding would cover up that fact and he doesn't care. He's an equal opportunity ass whooper.

Jason *might* have a moment of hesitation, but it's literally a blink and you'll miss it kind of thing. And then her lights are fucking punched out.

Dick is the one most likely to have even a little bit of a "problem" with it. I say problem, but I use that word very loosely. He'd make a bit of a bigger deal about it, but not by too much, probably some quips about it and trying to deescalate the situation. He has some kind of chivalry to him, he'd rather not but wouldn't keep it from doing his job.

Tim I can see being the same at Bruce, but more that he speculated more than he absolutely knew. But also a tad of Dick, he'd rather not, either from some symbolism of chivalry or some secret third thing. He'd spend less time on it than Dick, not caring either way, the job needs to get done.

Damian gives zero fucks. His mother was a well trained assassin, the best according to him. Fights the same as any male opponent.

No but let’s talk about the whole Apokalips thing in Our Worlds At War. Young Justice 1:35–37, Superboy 1:91, Impulse 1:89.

Kon really, really screwed up. His impulsive and insubordinate actions, expressly against Robin’s orders and in full opposition to the rescue mission they were engaged on, led directly to:

the permanent death of one team member (Slobo is not Lil Lobo even if he does have his memories, and neither are any of the other regenerated Lobos, most of whom also die; original Lobo remains dead)

the partial death of another (Bart is in a coma for over a week after experiencing the death of his speedforce duplicate)

the start of Greta’s corruption arc via Darkseid

and the torture and thorough traumatisation of the rest of team (they are held in VR worlds where they are forced to live through the deaths of their loved ones and their own deaths, repeatedly).

Tim leaves Young Justice over this. Bart stops being a hero altogether for a while.

And we never see Kon apologise.

Okay so yes he acknowledges to himself he is entirely at fault for this. He spends a whole issue agonising over what he’s done and yes, he resolves to apologise to Robin.

But he never does. He gets distracted by some fallout from the war and by Joker’s Last Laugh. Tim gets involved again in World Without Young Justice, when reality has been altered and none of them are who they should be.

And then after that, Tim, who is relieved that his identity has been revealed (something he wanted to do long ago) in a way that he couldn’t control or be blamed for, asks to rejoin the team.

And.

Kon and Cassie do this:

(I’m not blaming Snapper, Ray, or Slobo, none of whom were there when this went down even if Slobo does have the memories of it. They are just following Kon and Cassie’s cues.)

And Tim reacts like this:

Which is not the reaction of someone who has already received a heartfelt apology.

And yes, then they hug and welcome Tim back into the team. But I think Tim ends up fully internalising that his leadership (and his refusal to share his identity, like they have any right to it) is to blame for the whole debacle. And Kon lets him go on thinking that.

Batman has/had some kind of miscommunication going on with every single one of his kids. The bat family is just one big miscommunication trope after the other.

i think it can be argued that due to their different approaches to vigilantism, gotham may need a batman, but bludhaven specifically needs dick grayson.

I bet the JL has a “how fucked are we” metric that’s literally just how many of Bruce’s kids are there.

Like if he pulls up to the alien invasion or whatever with just Robin, then everything’s fine. More than fine, actually, because Bruce feels comfortable enough to bring his eight year old along for the ride. This battle will take approximately fifteen minutes and they’ll all get shawarma after. Not fucked in the slightest.

But if Red Robin shows up too… hmm, okay, this is getting somewhat serious. Tim is one of Bruce’s most trusted partners; he’s the smart Robin, the tactician, the loyal one, and so if Batman brought him along then it means he’s at least a little bit worried about shit hitting the fan and wants one his advisors around. But the combined brain power of Bruce and Tim is pretty much unmatched (DC plot armor for the win), so everything will be fine, basically. Superman might take a hit, but everything’s going to be fine. Just keep calm and you’ll all make it home in time to Door Dash some Panda Express before it closes. So not that fucked.

It starts to get serious after that. When Signal and Spoiler roll up the scene, shit has definitely hit the fan. Batman’s worried enough to call in reinforcements and he’s probably doubting the League’s ability to listen/obey his orders, so he needs a backup plan in case things go really south. But with Signal’s abilities and Steph’s superpower of turning anything into a joke, chances are you’ll be okay. Maybe impaled or something, but okay. But still, fucked.

When Nightwing shows, the JL knows it’s starting to get dicey out on the field. See, Nightwing’s got his own team, his own issues—the fact that he set that all aside to help out his dad is cause for concern. On a scale from 1-10, they are at a 7. Above moderately fucked.

And… oh God. Black Bat? Most of the time the JL doesn’t even see her, but once she makes herself known and starts fighting alongside her siblings, they all start to silently freak out. Black Bat is a fucking machine and if she’s breaking a sweat trying to fight the Big Bad, things are definitely not going to go well. They start praying that Batman figures something out. They freak out. They are intrinsically fucked.

But God Forbid you catch sight of the Red Hood. The prodigal son is a legitimate killer, and if Batman’s letting him blow out brains then the JL knows he’s desperate. And a desperate Batman is not good. At all. They are definitely fucked.
