Because this is their NIGHTMARE. Nightmare Parade!

i thought @nebulous-rain s design of arthur in onceler cosplay was really good and wanted to have a go at it myself :)

jokes aside, the outfit reminded me a LOT of the song nightmare parade, and i wanted to draw it with that kind of energy. so arthurs suave look in the original was kinda replaced with a madhatter vibe (give me ANY insane character in a top hat and ill go crazy)

the thing is one of my friends told me THE DAY AFTER THAT. that they thought nightmare parade reminded them of reverb. so i decided 'well shit ill just draw them both' and theres that. this is also a rather experimental piece since i slapped a bunch of blending modes and used two layers for shading (different opacities) instead of one. idk how to feel about it, but it worked really well at more complex parts like the hands!

would dream refer to themself as an angel? would that be a title adopted for them by the public? would it be an initially distancing title that morphs into a kinder nickname? would that name cause others to feel calmer or fearful? arent angels beings to be feared, in all their beauty, horror and existence so unlike that of any human or beast?

would dream see themself as more or less than a monster? after all, the treatment they endured would cause anyone to wish to distance themself from the familiar "self". it's easier to carry out your duties if you view yourself as a being - or even, a tool - unfit to be cherished and loved like any common man. would it be fair for dream to abandon their own autonomy for the sake of keeping others sated?

there has GOT to be a way to explain anne boleyn's proto-feminism and importance to history without absolutely shitting on katherine of aragon and acting as if she was basically set dressing for her entire marriage rather than a person in her own right and an important one at that, but i think a lot of stanne's are just virulently misogynistic so they're physically incapable of doing so
