I particularly love Kitaro with silver/grey hair! He looks so cute like that, even if him with brown hair is equally as appealing, I can't help but prefer the OG option; same goes for Neko Musume! I like the purple hair approach but I LOVE the OG black short hair with the undercut, it looks so cute on her... I did end up giving her hair a purple hue regardless hehehe

The character sheet for Toshio Furukawa’s role in the upcoming Birth of Kitaro movie has been revealed 💛🩶

Although the staff play coy by describing him merely as ‘a mysterious boy’, this is no doubt a younger Ratman! It’s possible Kitaro won’t learn his name during the movie events however, and thus the mystery. Very curious to see how involved he’ll be! Kitaro has had quite a long past with him after all.

They’ve made some tweaks to his design here which interest me - it’s probably in an effort to give him a more youthful look, but his head isn’t as egg-shaped, and his ears far less pointed.

This supports a pet theory I’ve had based on the 2018 series, which is:

Hanyou predominantly start off looking human-ish, and become progressively more youkai-like as time passes.

Basically, I figure their human cells would die off and be replaced by the youkai portion that continues to persist.

Is this to explain why I draw Reiji with rounded human ears?? Maybe!!! But I also appreciate good lore expansion.

There’s this Gegege no Kitarō commercial where Nezumi Otoko does a similar face and it’s equally as jarring on him. Hold on, lemme try to find it

An artwork on Nezumi's body, especially his shoulders (not the whole body). I observed at his concept art as well as images from the anime when he's naked. He's quite skinny, but as soon as he wears his dress, he has a beautiful silhouette (that's my impression). I love male characters wearing dresses, I find them pretty and sexy. :D

I think Kitaro would like any holiday that celebrates monsters. I am excited to carve a pumpkin this year and felt like drawing some spooky kids having fun with it.
