the hitch in van helsing's words when he says "i beseech you" im going to cry for real this time. it's not even simply that he knows how important it is that he gets arthur to trust him, that he's conscious of their duty to all living souls and lucy herself to do this to her and how difficult this will be physically and emotionally. it's that arthur now distrusts him, cries at him in anger - arthur, the man who looks like his lost son and whom he loves because of it. the man whose love and respect he may now never get back after suggesting mutilating lucy's corpse. he isn't just desperate for all the men in that room to trust him so they can give lucy peace and keep the living safe. that's the sacrifice of his father's heart splitting in two right there. wtf alan burgon.

This cast will forever be who I hear when I reread the book. This was such an amazing experience. I'm just so happy re: dracula exist.

I live near a marsh, and consequently, a very healthy no-see-um population has found a way to enter my bedroom at will. I don’t believe they intend on finding an exit. They’re swarming on the ceiling in a manner where I can very much see-um, and then hear-um, and then feel-um and hate-um.

And I’m thinking about the food chain and how I can find myself a little guy to eat all these flies. I’m talkin’ spiders. I’m having a Renfield Moment.

how long is it going to take for dracula to drive his stupid little boat over to the other side of the stupid little lake so that we can hear from our favorite monster hunting gang this is taking too long.

I can’t decide which reason I like better for Dracula showing up with a white moustache this entry.

1) He genuinely has lost his dark hair/youth temporarily because, for some reason, he prefers to hold off for long stints and then enjoy the blood buffet. The same way a snake will have one good meal and hold off for a long while. 

2) He’s pulling a ‘No I’m Definitely a Humble Coachman and Not Count Dracula in a Fake Beard’ routine again, only this time he’s wearing an old man moustache and beard while he runs around making dirt deliveries like the world’s fastest and strongest grandpa

Dramatically, it should be 1.

But in my heart, I know this man is as fond of shitty dress-up ploys as he is of terrible puns. Isn’t that right, Count de Ville?

catching up with Dracula Daily, part 2

(listen. listen. sometimes, you just forget things for almost two months. it happens. and I know that I am over a month late to the party. but I'm still here anyway, and I'm going to finish this. so, again, have some reading/listening notes.)

1st Oct: LADS. Listen to your doubts! You have so many! Jonathan especially, just- ugh. Boys. What the hell are you even do- ... oh. Renfield is singing. Oh my. Oh no, it's beatiful. Oh no.

2nd Oct: I swear, the look on my face when I recognized the voice of that fucking clerk guy- I cannot be jumpscared like this, alright?

3rd Oct: I did not remember how gruesome this scene was. Holy fuck. Also, re:dracula is so good, you guys. It's so fucking good.

11th Oct: I get the polycule thing now. I get it. This day is so heartwarming. Also, just in general, I love the trope of "promise you will kill me", and the fact that the entire group agreed, ugh- I love it. It hurts, but I love it.

28th Oct: Whoop whoop, Mina is free, let's fucking go kill Dracula!! Hell yeah.

I finally fell behind on dracula daily, last entry I read was September 17. This year I've literally only ever been a day behind and always caught up the next day (the last time I was this behind was about halfway through May of last year where I had to give up and restart this year), so, I think this may be it for my dracula daily reading this year ;-;

I'm still debating if I can maybe catch up, it's a shame to give it up only 2 months from finishing, but part of the appeal was pacing it with the dates. I really really wanted to finish dracula this year ;-;
