BP: dirty deals with Israel for Gaza’s gas

Dozens of activists from Fossil Free London assembled outside BP’s London headquarters to protest Israel’s approval of 12 new licences for natural gas exploration off the west coast of Gaza to six companies, including BP.

BP not only received this licence but is also set to acquire 50% of the Israeli Delek Group-owned NewMed, who have also been granted a licence. NewMed owns 45% of Leviathan, the largest gas field in the Mediterranean, situated off the coast of Israel. Israel’s occupation of the Gaza Strip denies the besieged population access to natural resources within its waters, in violation of international law.

Back in 2017 I didn't like myself. I didn't like my husband. I didn't like my life. I spent all my time giving all of me away, turns out I didn't have anything left. I didn't know who I was. So I decided to find myself, my happiness, and my purpose. I don't know if I found anything at all, but I made a transformation. Hopefully a good transformation, but I guess only time will tell. At the very least I learned a lot. So I'm out here now ready to shatter illusions and social training. Time to wake up and smell the hypocrisy we all live in every day. Maybe I can spread some knowledge, or understanding, or human compassion. Honestly, I just have to get this out there for the world to see, whether they want it or not. So here I come world! My intention is to come in like a wrecking ball, but who knows I may just be a whisper in the wind that never finds its ears. Hopefully not. Let's see if I can turn my not so quiet whisper into a weapon of mass destruction. That is if anyone out there is listening or using their brains. I may be loud and crazy, but humanity has become accustomed to ignoring elephants, rynos, and bears, OH MY! They are literally weighing down billions of people and killing community and progress, yet everyone pretends, quite painfully I might add, that they aren't carrying immense burdens imposed by the government and the media by virtue of lies and the chains of imprisonment we carry in a prison without bars we call life.

Cerita Pulang

Pulang kali ini membawa banyak cerita unik dan menarik yang membuat senyum sendiri. Jangan bayangkan aku pulang dengan menggandeng tangan pasangan. Tidak. Aku masih melangkahkan sepasang kakiku sendiri.

Perjalanan pulang tahun ini berbeda karena aku merasa segalanya terasa ringan dan lega. Meski sedikit berdebar dengan jadwal penerbangan yang lebih pagi dari sebelumnya, ditambah lalu lintas menuju bandara yang padat tanpa celah. Namun, akhirnya langkahku membawa cerita berbeda kali ini.

Untuk kesekian kalinya aku memberanikan diri memulai pembicaraan dengan orang asing. Sebuah prestasi yang membanggakan bagiku sebagai seorang dengan dominan introvert. Biasanya memulai obrolan dengan orang baru mengundang sakit kepala dan ketidaknyamanan, tetapi kali ini aku bisa melaluinya dengan tenang tanpa keraguan.

Obrolan dengan sopir taksi online yang ternyata belum tidur sejak malam, sebab siklus hidupnya yang berteman dengan kelelawar. Perbincangan dengan penumpang pesawat random yang satu tujuan dan kebingungan bagaimana cara check in mandiri. Obrolan dengan sopir Damri yang mengajakku keliling Kota Padang sebelum menuju Bukittinggi.

Rasanya aku lupa dengan sisi introvert yang selama ini membuat sulit berinteraksi dengan orang baru. Walau pada akhirnya, dua hari kemudian energiku habis tak bersisa.

Energi yang kutabung berminggu-minggu dengan berdiam diri di dalam rumah, menikmati waktu-waktu sendiri, habis tak bersisa.

Aku kehilangan keinginan berada di keramaian. Lalu menarik diri kembali dalam kesendirian, mengisi energi dengan kesibukan yang tak melibatkan banyak orang.

Terlepas dari fakta aku masih seorang introvert yang energinya selalu tersedot habis saat berinteraksi dengan orang lain, nyatanya aku merasa banyak hal telah berubah dalam diriku. Aku yang baru, aku yang lebih nyaman dengan diriku sendiri dan aku yang sedikit banyak berani berinteraksi secara langsung.

Curhat alay ini kupersembahkan untuk diriku sendiri, yang sedang terus berjuang memperbaiki diri. :)
