Camp jupiter has 1 demigod for every 15 legacies
Thats not to say that the roman gods are having fewer children than the greeks but that the camp is much bigger
So if the legion is 400 strong there are only 27 in the legion that are demigods, plus most of the legacies are the great and great-great grandchildren of the gods, some prestigious families even going back 6 generations ie octavian
Its rare that a legacy has significantly magical based powers, they're mostly blessed and gifted in certain areas but cant manipulate reality and the elements like demigods can
This means that even though camp jupiter as a whole has 3.5x more campers than camp halfblood, camp halfblood is more of a force to be reckoned with because they are 100% 50% god and they actively train their powers
Because there are so few demigods and so little connection to the gods themselves, camp jupiter literally does not have the knowledge or resources to train each demigod individually and so the idea of visible powers is ostracised and feared. Most roman demigods never find out the true extent of what they can do as an individual
Theres a hospital in new rome but it has a very low stock of ambrosia or nector, its worth more than gold. Its hard to obtain godly food when the gods dont want to interact with you and the average legionnaire would burst into flames if they had a nibble. Instead its diluted and administered intravenously
Imperial gold is rare, again its hard to create godly metals without the gods present, so their stock is preciously guarded, passed down from when rome used to mean something. Now, only centurions are allowed to have their own golden weapons, most legionnaires train with steel that they leaves in communal armouries - they only need it when training, its not like anyone will fight a monster any time soon when they can't even leave the camp. The only monsters they do fight are in the amphitheatre where they can rent a sword for the match.
Most people speak latin as their first language, having grown up in the city of new rome, going to school there. Most legacies of old families have only seen the mortal world once or twice on quests so the language has lasted in an isolated community through the millenia. In fact, the idea of mortal world has become like a boogeyman to the more traditional families or is looked down upon as a savage world. Why would they ever want to leave?
Godly parentage is important, obviously, but no one introduces themselves by it. Its treated more like an icebreaker, interesting fact than a tenet of people's personalities. A lot of families are descended from mulitple gods over the decades, so the attatchment to one particular god is rare unless youve been blessed by them or are called to become a priest of theirs. They treat cohorts like they're hogwarts house personality test though and it remains a social marker way after you retire from the legion.
Romans dont have dyslexia because it's the latin script. They do have dyscalculia though

think it'd be really cool if percy could teleport using water. just needing to be in direct contact with a water source to transfer from one puddle to the next. cornering monsters in damp alleyways like it's no one's business. foregoing the subway when the forecast calls for showers. crossing the ocean quicker that you can say pacific. quality content.

I hate the way the Greek campers were viewed in hoo like these literal kids who made up a grand total of 40 (maybe 100 max with hunters + party ponies + satyrs) defeated an army that consisted of hundreds possibly thousands of monsters on their own including a couple of rouge titans and Kronos who was their leader. And won. Don’t get me wrong the Romans destroyed the Palace and all which was probably filled with their remaining resources but there were hundreds of them including adults who had retired after a decade of experience. And the army they fought was probably smaller cause everyone was off at New York in the main fight so give the Greek campers their due respect cause not only did they win, they pulled off the impossible

just imagining being all cuddled up with jason grace in his dorm at new rome on a stormy afternoon. wearing his scent-infused hoodie that’s too big while both your legs are buried underneath fluffy blankets, limbs all tangled together to trap in the heat. a comfort movie playing in front of you as the rain pelts the windows and thunder booms in the background. his strong arms tightening around you each time you flinch at a particularly loud crack of lightning. his stupid jokes about his dad being pissed off that he tells just to make you giggle. eventually falling asleep in his embrace and him just admiring your face before pressing a loving kiss to your temple and nodding off himself, happy as ever.

Um this is sooo random and is probably gonna get like 3 notes, but can we headcanon the Roman and Greek students at New Rome University starting a little baseball league? Or softball. Either one. I may or may not have been inspired by grey’s anatomy, but that’s besides the point. I think I just love it because it’s friendly competition between the Greeks and Romans that they can do to blow off steam, and get out all their built-up energy. Also it has absolutely nothing to do with being a demigod. It’s a totally normal human thing. It’s not dangerous or violent, it’s not life or death, it’s not combat training, its not gonna bring back trauma or stress them out. It’s just fun.
Percy mentioned once that he has a good arm and that if he played, he would pitch. So Percy could be the Greeks’ pitcher. And that’s all I‘ve got because i don’t actually know baseball that well. But i just think it would be so dam funny.
Just a bunch of young adult adhd demigods, in jeans and jerseys, smack talking each other in ancient languages. Over freaking baseball. And like everyone at the college, and in the legion, and local families could come and watch. It would just be such a fun community thing. Maybe even the gods show up sometimes
It brings me joy. Okay?

hiiiii chb chronicles (pjo/hoo/toa) fans, who's a god (no matter how big or small) who's kids you would've liked to see develop (more)? or just in general a concept you find extremely cool, and are forever sad that it wasn't expanded upon?
for me personally it's the dionysus kids - bro has always been my favourite god, and we only got to see castor and pollux, one of which died later on. dionysus isn't just "grape guy", but also god of madness, mental illness, orchards, harvest, fertility, religious extasy, theatre and in some interpretations patron of all transmascs/enbies. those are all so interesting!!!!!! he also seems to have only them two kids and chb, and dakota (which is a gender-neutral name, nudge nudge) (they're nb in my mind) at cj, which begs the question, did he really just have so little children (quite plausible, his and his wife adriane's marriage is sometimes desribed as the perfect union of the divine and human), or did we just not hear about them? (or he's just the only god who knows what a condom is lmao)

Pjo headcannon:
New Rome Hospital (which obviously has universal healthcare) has lots of issues with the 7 and co.
Annabeth doesn't go to the hospital unless Percy forces her in the door. According to her it's never that bad, she can power through. It's usually that bad and is fast tracked through the process upon arrival. The doctors know her and vividly remember the time she walked in complaining about stomach pain, waited in the waiting room for thirty minutes till her appointment and it turned out to be appendicitis. She described it as a three on a scale of 1 to 10 because it's not even close to the worst pain she can imagine. Dam it's not even the worst pain she can remember.
Percy doesn't need to go to hospitals that much because he can heal using water. But he needed to know his blood type to fill out a form so he went for a test. Everything went well but he kept trying to pay them cause he didn't realise it was free. He goes wide eyed and asks if the hospitals insurance covers family. They explain there is no insurance. It's just free. Sally, Paul, and Estelle never have to pay medical bills again.

Author’s Note: Alright, when I was writing the Greek demigods h/cs, I did keep in mind some of them and their Roman counterparts (i.e. Hera demigod), so when that one anon asked about doing Roman demigods, I got curious and this is my attempt. I do understand why there isn’t a lot but I gave it a shot. It’s not going to be the same for the Greek version and it’s not going to be very detailed since Camp Jupiter and New Rome is more limited than the Greeks, so that’s why. I'll also may update this overtime with more Roman gods, but who knows. Hope you like it and enjoy!

Does anyone have fun headcanons for some random events that happened at Camp Jupiter during the time of the Titan war? Because we know next to nothing about the Romans but I refuse to believe they didn't have any crazy weird events and quests.
Like, if the Seven were to talk about the time before HoO (or generally any Romans and Greeks) and Percy and Annabeth would go like "Oh and we went through the sea of monsters and ended up on Circe's Island that one time" or "and that's how Percy showed up to his own funeral", sure, that would be a crazy story. But Jason also defeated a Titan on his own and Reyna only ever went to CJ After Percy and Annabeth were at Circe's island, what was the crazy stuff that happened in between?
Also what did the Romans think Caused the Titan War since they obviously couldn't have known it was Luke?

Study Abroad ~ Percabeth
Percy paced around the square of New Rome, unable to relax at the thought of seeing Annabeth. She’d been away for sixth months in Italy, studying the architecture abroad for her senior year thesis paper at New Rome University. Her focus was the role of mythology in the urban planning of Ancient Rome, or something like that. Percy had heard her talk about it countless times over their Iris calls, but to be honest the words went in one ear and out the other. How could he focus on anything she was saying when she looked that good? And Percy had noticed that she’d been looking extra good as of late. What was it? Percy couldn’t quite put his finger on it. I mean, Annabeth has always been gorgeous, with her curly blonde hair and her stormy eyes and her loving smile. Percy could go on for hours about how beautiful she was. So why was he so obsessed with her recently? He didn’t know, and he didn’t care as he waited for her to enter the city. All he could think about was hugging her after 6 torturous months of being away. It was the first time they’d been apart since high school.
“Percy!”
Percy spun around to see Annabeth making her way towards him. He wasted no time as he rushed towards her to embrace her in a hug.
“Annabeth,” he mumbled as he buried his face into her curls. She smelled like citrus and felt so soft in his arms. He missed her so much, he couldn’t find the words to tell her. She was his everything, and he almost felt like crying now that he could hold her again. Percy was choking on his emotions as he held her until Annabeth began to giggle and pulled back. Percy reluctantly loosened his grip as Annabeth looked up at him.
“Are you going to cry, seaweed brain?” She giggled, her own eyes a little teary. Percy couldn’t respond, but this time it wasn’t due to the lump in his throat. As he released Annabeth from his death grip, his eyes scanned down her body. She looked different. She looked… good. Really good.
“I- uh,” Percy cleared his throat, trying to meet Annabeths gaze. But of course, his eyes defied him as they fell back onto her legs. Since when was she so… grown up? Percy didn’t remember her having those thighs when she left. And her face. It almost seemed as though she’d gotten more beautiful; more mature. Her lips…
“Percy? Do I have something on my face?” Annabeth frowned as she tried to snap Percy out of his trance. He cleared his throat again.
“No, it’s uh- it’s just that you look super fucking hot right now,” Percy laughed, letting out his breath that he’d been holding. Annabeth blushed profusely as Percy reached down to grab her hands. He lifted one up to his lips and kissed it, watching Annabeth blush again as he did so.
“Percy,” Annabeth said warily. She had missed Percy so badly, to the extent that she was having dreams about him every night. Her heartbeat sped as he looked at her with that smile that he always had when he was up to no good.
“Annabeth,” he said in response, moving his hands up her arms to cup her face. He stepped closer, pressing his forehead against hers. He would worship her like a goddess now that he finally had her back in his arms.
“Do you want to get out of here?”

(Totally incorrect but whatevs) headcanon that after the war with Gaia, Camp Jupiter and Camp Half Blood merge.
Hear me out. (TL;DR at the end bc I talk too much)
CHB was never meant to be a permanent home for demigods. Sure, there are year-rounders, but it's not really designed with that intention. There's no formal schooling, and no combing cabins, so the kids who stay with heaps of siblings over summer break are now alone in a massive cabin, and alone at meals.
It does, however, work excellently as a summer camp. There are heaps of activities, the kids learn battle skills through (only mildly life threatening) fun, older kids act as mentors to younger ones, and the whole vibe is easy-going and informal.
On the other hand, CJ is designed for long-term living. It assumes that the lives demigods have in the mortal world are secondary, and that once you get to camp you're going to stay. They are also much more organised, strategic, and strict about their training (and honestly everything) than CHB. And, to their credit, they end up with Roman demigods living a hell of a lot longer than Greek demigods.
Both camps have their strengths and their weaknesses. So why don't they embrace that? CHB becomes a summer camp only, catering mostly for younger campers and run by college-age demigods. CJ/New Rome becomes the central hub for demigods, with a boarding school that offers both formal schooling and demigod training, just like New Rome University, and neighborhoods of older demigods living relatively normal lives in the safety of New Rome. Both camps are open to both Greek and Roman demigods alike.
Demigods with loving mortal families and low-risk heritage can attend CHB in the summer and go to school like a normal kid during the year. Demigods with no family and/or high-risk heritage have a permanent home at CJ where they can grow up going to school and making friends and feeling relatively normal.
This also ties in nicely with my headcanon that Jason settles down in a huge house and starts formally fostering potential demigods who have ended up in the mortal foster system. His fostering acts as a gentle, loving transition into the demigod world for traumatised kids, and when they're ready he moves them into New Rome Boarding School like the proud father he is to start their new lives. They all come back for the holidays, and sleep chock-a-block in sleeping bags on the floor because there aren't enough beds for them all. Percy sees this and shudders at the memory of the Hermes cabin...
But this isn't that. It's not forgotten, unloved demigods fighting for a tiny piece of home and belonging. It's a huge family, each and every one welcomed and loved and giddy with the joy of being home for the holidays.
TL;DR: Camp Jupiter/New Rome runs a boarding school and basically an entire town of demigods, while Camp Half Blood only runs a summer camp. Greek and Roman demigods alike are welcome at both camps. Jason fosters potential demigods before they transition into the New Rome Boarding School. Every single demigod has a home.

Romans: The last time an Olympian visited us was centuries ago, our only contact with the gods is through stuffed animals, most of us go our whole lives without meeting any god except for Terminus -
Also Romans: The entry requirement to New Rome is 3 transcripts personally written by gods, preferably olympians to ensure a seat

i have a silly little headcanon (HEAD CANON) that is just very silly in terms of canon, specially with greek demigods.
SO!
As all may know, demigods can go now to camp Jupiter to well- live- , anyways, well, I don't like that. Being frankly (see what i did there?) i just don't like the whole Percy and Annabeth in New Rome? Like i get it, finally a "safe place" for them, to hopefully live and stuff but... Camp Half Blood was such an important place in both their lives, specially Annabeth's. Also, i haven't read ToA or Chalice of the Gods, yet.
But to me it just seems... unnatural? i feel like Annabeth after graduating she would just come back home. Cuz that's her home. And Percy would do it too, he's closer to Estelle and his parents, and his family at camp (Chiron, I'm talking to you). And New Rome is great, i loved it from the second i read it on SoN. But i feel like Camp Half Blood needs another chance.
So in my head (other than forgetting half the canon) there is a safe place for Greek demigods nearby camp, something like New Rome for example, something like Athens for the name, New Athens if you will.
This city/town was created by older civilizations of half-bloods, and a secret to the little ones, and if you got older enough, the city will somehow call out to you. Or something, I'm not sure.
The point is, the city isn't that big or even protected yet, but after Annie and Percy graduated, they help around and over the months it goes from over a population of 100/200 to a over 600 people living in this new safe place that demigods can call home without going to far away from camp.
They somehow get a bigger University, more houses, shops, places to go around and learn what it feels to live without looking behind your back every two seconds.
Like, Leo and Annabeth will go absolutely batshit crazy, Silena and Charlie (THEY'RE ALIVE YOUR HONOR) finally graduating together, JASON (very much alive, thank you spoilers) going back and forth between New Rome and the town's University, Calypso (not with Leo) studying and learning about new things, Thalia is somehow there studying something chaotic and everyone being free. Hazel and Frank being part time students at both universities alike since they're Preators, but fuck that too, they get to experience life with their friends.
I just need my little babies (grown 16/17 year olds like me) to be in peace
also, Percy gets a Trident, Annabeth can fuckin move things with her mind, Hazel can do magic (Nico too) Frank can shapeshift more easily, Leo controls his fire more, Piper (MY QUEEN) can sing like a badass and her powers just keep getting stronger and stronger! Reyna (my dear girl) visits alot and her burdens disappear.

did the Romans get any rewards for their efforts in toppling Mt. Othrys?
Tumblr media
Ok but, hmm how can I put it into words.
Chb and Camp Jupiter work in opposite ways. The other camp is more dependent on the gods in their internal working such as their cabin system and whatnot but more independent in general and their outside working, due to their demigods being trained as independent heroes.
We do have more independence when it comes to New Rome and Senate politics but the legion is the gods's soldiers. First and foremost. It's not made up of independent heroes but an army. No offence to Percy Jackson but why should we get a reward for doing our job? The families living in New Rome is safe and the gods are pleased with Saturn's defeat; that's rewarding enough.

Silena, like Piper, had told herself she wasnt going to be a heartbreaker. She told herself she wasnt going to fall into the vicious cycle of hurting people who love her.
The entire Aphrodite cabin knew of her promise, knew about Piper's promise. After Silena, they never made that promise to themself like Piper had. But Piper didnt know Silena, didnt know that she did break the promise.
Piper knew Silena died.
She didnt know Silena's heart had broken with Beckondorf's death. She didnt know Clarisse's heart had broke with Chris's mentality and Silena's death.
Piper hadnt know the hit Will had taken from his siblings deaths during the Second Titan war, she hadnt known about Will's grief from Silena's death either.
Piper didnt know Annabeth had been close to Silena, Piper didnt know that many survivors of the Titan war were close to Silena like the Aphrodite cabin. Piper didnt know that Silena too had fallen victim to the cycle of heartbreakers in the Aphrodite cabin.
So Piper promised her she wouldnt break anyone's heart.
SPOILERS BELOW
Piper broke that promise too, before Jason died. And then he died, and Piper understood every emotion that Will would vaguely hint at, or why Clarisse stared at the Aphrodite cabin and Apollo cabin with regret and self-hatred, or why Chris would frown when passing the Aphrodite cabin. or why Annie would zone out, and mumble to Percy about Silena at times (She noticed Annie mouth the name "Luke" a few times too, and she would notice how Percy's face would fall when either name were mentioned to him from her. She never asked.)
She understood now, that the curse of her cabin isnt just the heartbreak of other campers – its the heartbreak of Aphrodite's children too. Its there so that Aphrodite children know the pain of having a broken heart, its thete so that they too know what the other is going through when the curse strikes again.
And Piper wishes she never made that stupid promise, because maybe Jason would be in New Rome with Percy and Annie, at college. or maybe he'd be eating with Thalia at New Rome when the hunters would stop by with Reyna.
She wishes she hadnt been foolish like Silena.

dakota campjupiter headcanons
hi! in my 13 years of age, i was a proud cabin 12 kid, so you know what that means! i was sad we never got a properly developed child of dionysus character
uses they/them. obviously. dionysus is the patron of transmascs and enbies (at least according to percy jackson's greek gods), and dakota is a neutral name
just. properly fat. doesn't feel bad about it. they got it after their father, and they love their belly and chubby cheeks!
a really laid back half-blood. there isn't a lot that can rock them, they're mostly just happy to be here, and you'll find yourself also catching their relaxed attitude when spending time near them
knows a lot, if not all of the other campers by name - they're very sociable, and often the life of the party. they love a good prank, but often chose to deliver their humour to the faces of the one or more recipients by words. theatre is in bacchus' domain, after all. though this is usually exacerbated by the kool-aid sugar rush, when they do sometimes get really silly ideas
their outlook on life is the one you'd find when having a conversation at the campfire with someone. there's a beauty to living, and it's worth it to enjoy the birdsong and the sun, and swim in the ocean and love your friends. just a stark contrast to all the ambition often seen in roman campers
relatedly, they aren't that much of a sportsman. they do enjoy the occasional game of frisbee (which has become very popular at camp jupiter in the recent years), or a good dance at a party, but they aren't too keen on physical exercise in the hot californian sun (tbh, who would be?) they do like a good swim though, especially in the sea
despite this, they do know how to wield a sword quite well. they have been through the standard training, after all - they know how important these things are, it's just that they'd rather do other things
not only do they know the campers by name, they also know most of the fauns and spirits that exist around cj, and often stop and strike up conversation with them - don the faun is one of their good friends
they're the centurion of the fifth cohort, and they're happy that way - they don't usually talk much at meetings, but do make sure to stick up for their cohort and anyone who needs it
the near-constant stain of red kool-aid around their mouth seems even redder because they have quite red lips, naturally. i'd say quite plump, too - they have this face that kinda has almost cherub-y features, with the dark curly hair and everything
sugar helps them gain energy (i do the same trick with sugary drinks and my adhd), but caffeine makes them sleepy. they got offered a coffee by jason once when they had to wake up early for patrol, and poor dude had to patrol all by himself, next to a sleeping child of bacchus
they come from a family that has their own vineyard and have been making their own wine for generations. they'd always helped with the winemaking process and the grape harvest since they were little. they do, of course, know that they have the power to help vines grow, it's just that they hardly ever use it - the terrain of their vineyards has been used for them for a long time, and things work just fine without magical intervention
they do host many gatherings and parties for the campers of camp jupiter (post boo, they do have parties that invite the camp half-blood campers as well once in a while, which is usually coupled with a senate meeting for greek demigods to sit in on if they're interested, and discussion of exchanges between the camps. there's tours of new rome for those interested in potentially moving there after their tenure at chb, and there's an obligatory war games evening. there's usually a handful of greek campers who are interested in a tour of the camp itself, to take some inspiration from it.)
one thing they're pretty cool and good at is the connections they make. adhd helps a person connect pretty much everything that's going on in their head, and sometimes, there's even a point to it! in this case, i mean with how many campers and new rome residents they know, they'll often help someone solve a problem by listening to them vent and then interrupting them with "oh, i know who can help you!" and dragging them across half of new rome to meet some guy with a bakery in need of an apprentice
and it's not like that's an uncommon thing! people do genuinely find themselves gravitating towards dakota's easygoing nature, and conversation just flows and they often find themselves talking about what bothers or tires them
please ask me about dakota and camp jupiter i'm rotating them in my mind always
