Hey so, does anyone know a good website to read recent comics from dc that is available outside the US?? I know a few, but they either take a while to upload recent chapters, or might be filling my phone with viruses... I would appreciate some recs a lot :)
#i usually buy comics at stores or in amazon but they are expensive and I'm thinking it would probably be easier to just subscribe somewhere#and read them digitally#cause that has to be less expensive than buying singular issues evry week or so...#unless there's a free option that seems safe enough#tanything wprks at this point#dc comics#dc#comics#comic books#new gods#the flash comics#the flash#dcu#superman#superman comics#batman comics#read comics#online

thank you for the ducks, me and my home country also really love Donald Duck and other ducks and Don Rosa is a celebrity to us
i'm so bummed that the ducks aren't very big here in the uk! the rest of europe has it right. the ducks deserve to be beloved. whenever i travel to other european countries i gather all the duck i can find. i have so many books in different languages just because i physically can't resist a book filled with ducks.
the first scrooge book i ever scored on an english bookshelf was don rosa's life and times of scrooge mcduck and it's one of my favourite books i own. i just fell in love with scrooge. i love him so much, he feels like family to me. i love his family, and i love how funny and weirdly honest the familial relationships are. i just... augh. i want to hug every duck book i own. they literally are like serotonin on a page, for me. life can't be so bad, if i have ducks.
i think the thing that makes me love the ducks so much vs a lot of other media is that donald and scrooge especially are just. so. they're defined by their flaws. scrooge is stingy. donald is quick-to-temper. those are their defining characteristics but they're still the guys we love and we root for even though their defining characteristic should make them unlikeable. but we LOVE them. and they're at each other's throats but we loooove them we looove them we love them. they're jerks to each other but we LOOOOVE them...
i think i remember reading something about the success of donald duck overseas vs the success of mickey mouse being that - mickey is the poster child and kind of has to be sweet and sanitised, but donald can get messy and that's why we love him. and i love him.
love a little cutey ducky with anger issues from birth

sighs.. family...
#i found this great online store for second hand books and i've been hoarding up loads of science fiction novels from it lately.#but i didn't see if they have any duck comics there!! maybe they do.#im running out of space for all these books. but i just love having physical comics#i love comics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#i remember having my first scrooge mcduck book in hand and pointing to the pages mom!!! look!!#scrooge mcduck is from glasgow!! just like you!!#as someone with a scottish family i gotta tell you. the clan mcduck can be something so personal.#i read aloud lately (new development) and i gotta tell you. reading the duck comics is a delight.#because a scottish accent is one of the few accents i can pull off with confidence. and so the comics are so fun to read that way#sci speaks

Made my first junk journal spread in awhile tonight and I like how it turned out :) I haven’t touched my junk journal since May, but still was collecting junk and stuff since. I’d still like to get myself some more washi tapes, more stickers and lots of pattern paper/paper pads, but I’ll work with what I got for now
#I used some new stickers I got last weekend when my parents were gone and took my brother out to a couple stores#got them at five below and daiso (which I’ve been wanting to go to for a long time but mom wouldn’t go there cuz she doesn’t like the store)#I wanna go back to daiso soon for more stickers and paper/stationary#also wanna take pictures of a few pages I’ve done so far that I like and post them on social media (soon hopefully)#oh and I start my next 3 online classes tomorrow; I’m a bit nervous but I’ll do my best#it’s anatomy/physiology 1; a lab for that and a sociology class#I’m a bit nervous for anatomy/physiology but I’ve taken them many times before and luckily I still have old books/notes I can reference#I’ll do my best and try to go good grades but it’s also ok for me to pass at the bare minimum of a 75% 😬👍🏼

Me: I love what you're doing 🥰
Human: YOU'RE A TRUMP VOTER YOU HATE ME
Me: I barely know you. But I love your talents <3
Human: I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD ENJOY MY STUFF
Me: You have talent and I love that for you
Human: YOU'RE DISGUSTING BECAUSE WE VOTED DIFFERENT
Me: I literally am trying to complement you as a fan
Human: GET BLOCKED HATER
Me: Alright ig?
#its like they want me to hate them#the bias is so deep that they cant see past it#I literally can't understand that#what am I doing wrong?#you know if you put art in a gallery#or sell a book in the store#people will come in#and enjoy it despite political views#how are so many people twisting admiration into hate?#I just don't get it#you put it online#I'm not exactly hacking into a private server#but go ahead and blacklist news fans ig#its literally just becoming segregation for the sake of segregation and not purely for safety#blocking people should be for people actively harming you#my love of your work or posts in not harming you

The childlike wonder I haven't felt in a good while:
Shopping for new sketchbooks and pencils
#Punk Posts#I was always happy when doing that#this one was weak cuz the selection was soooo small#but it was the best I could get cuz there weren't any other stores close by#and I didn't wanna wait a week after ordering a book online#maybe I'll ask for some for christmas#but still I got a new book and I'm giddy

25 ways to be a little more punk in 2025
Cut fast fashion - buy used, learn to mend and/or make your own clothes, buy fewer clothes less often so you can save up for ethically made quality
Cancel subscriptions - relearn how to pirate media, spend $10/month buying a digital album from a small artist instead of on Spotify, stream on free services since the paid ones make you watch ads anyway
Green your community - there's lots of ways to do this, like seedbombing or joining a community garden or organizing neighborhood trash pickups
Be kind - stop to give directions, check on stopped cars, smile at kids, let people cut you in line, offer to get stuff off the high shelf, hold the door, ask people if they're okay
Intervene - learn bystander intervention techniques and be prepared to use them, even if it feels awkward
Get closer to your food - grow it yourself, can and preserve it, buy from a farmstand, learn where it's from, go fishing, make it from scratch, learn a new ingredient
Use opensource software - try LibreOffice, try Reaper, learn Linux, use a free Photoshop clone. The next time an app tries to force you to pay, look to see if there's an opensource alternative
Make less trash - start a compost, be mindful of packaging, find another use for that plastic, make it a challenge for yourself!
Get involved in local politics - show up at meetings for city council, the zoning commission, the park district, school boards; fight the NIMBYs that always show up and force them to focus on the things impacting the most vulnerable folks in your community
DIY > fashion - shake off the obsession with pristine presentation that you've been taught! Cut your own hair, use homemade cosmetics, exchange mani/pedis with friends, make your own jewelry, duct tape those broken headphones!
Ditch Google - Chromium browsers (which is almost all of them) are now bloated spyware, and Google search sucks now, so why not finally make the jump to Firefox and another search like DuckDuckGo? Or put the Wikipedia app on your phone and look things up there?
Forage - learn about local edible plants and how to safely and sustainably harvest them or go find fruit trees and such accessible to the public.
Volunteer - every week tutoring at the library or once a month at the humane society or twice a year serving food at the soup kitchen, you can find something that matches your availability
Help your neighbors - which means you have to meet them first and find out how you can help (including your unhoused neighbors), like elderly or disabled folks that might need help with yardwork or who that escape artist dog belongs to or whether the police have been hassling people sleeping rough
Fix stuff - the next time something breaks (a small appliance, an electronic, a piece of furniture, etc.), see if you can figure out what's wrong with it, if there are tutorials on fixing it, or if you can order a replacement part from the manufacturer instead of trashing the whole thing
Mix up your transit - find out what's walkable, try biking instead of driving, try public transit and complain to the city if it sucks, take a train instead of a plane, start a carpool at work
Engage in the arts - go see a local play, check out an art gallery or a small museum, buy art from the farmer's market
Go to the library - to check out a book or a movie or a CD, to use the computers or the printer, to find out if they have other weird rentals like a seed library or luggage, to use meeting space, to file your taxes, to take a class, to ask question
Listen local - see what's happening at local music venues or other events where local musicians will be performing, stop for buskers, find a favorite artist, and support them
Buy local - it's less convenient than online shopping or going to a big box store that sells everything, but try buying what you can from small local shops in your area
Become unmarketable - there are a lot of ways you can disrupt your online marketing surveillance, including buying less, using decoy emails, deleting or removing permissions from apps that spy on you, checking your privacy settings, not clicking advertising links, and...
Use cash - go to the bank and take out cash instead of using your credit card or e-payment for everything! It's better on small businesses and it's untraceable
Give what you can - as capitalism churns on, normal shmucks have less and less, so think about what you can give (time, money, skills, space, stuff) and how it will make the most impact
Talk about wages - with your coworkers, with your friends, while unionizing! Stop thinking about wages as a measure of your worth and talk about whether or not the bosses are paying fairly for the labor they receive
Think about wealthflow - there are a thousand little mechanisms that corporations and billionaires use to capture wealth from the lower class: fees for transactions, interest, vendor platforms, subscriptions, and more. Start thinking about where your money goes, how and where it's getting captured and removed from our class, and where you have the ability to cut off the flow and pass cash directly to your fellow working class people

had to stare Very Hard at one of the bookcases just now because there was a Gap where there shouldn't be one and it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that I Was The Cause when i set some manga on top of the books and kinda tilted some of the taller ones apart to make room. Because I need to re-sort my shelves. Mostly because I stack my unread novels on top of the manga so they don't stop being unread in my mind by merit of not being with the other novels. And it's a small-ish bookcase. And one of the books i need to read is a hardcover collection of all of Shakespeare's works. And it's big. my life is falling apart,,,,,,,,
#spiced#and it's shakespeare's fault!!#no but really i do kinda hate this bookcase because its shelves are too short for some of my books#so my comics are split between that one and the bookcase with shelves you can move up and down and i don't like it :[#like the ikea shelves were SHIT but at least i could fit all my comic and art books in the same place#the new manga is blood sucker legend of zipangu i found it at the used game store#and i know the scans online are only available up to like chapter 17 or something?#so even tho they're middle of the series volumes i wanted to get them mostly in hopes i can get others and finish it out#if nothing else i have them in case i can get in touch with someone who wants to scan them maybe? they're in really good condition#so it's like a selfish little preservation effort of sorts#it's kinda weird that the scans end so early in the series when there are english volumes for i think the whole series?

Museum SOS
I just saw the news that the Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, NY is facing foreclosure after a group of donors failed to produce about $30 million USD that they had promised.
The museum is run by the Paleontological Research Institution, whose collection has about 7 million fossil specimens—one of the largest in the US—and is one of only a few natural history museums in upstate NY. PRI runs both the Museum and the Cayuga Nature Center, which is also dealing with the budget shortfall.
The organization is working on restructuring (namely downsizing) to improve their financial sustainability but they still need funds, and one thing they've said could help is if people shop at their store!
The foreclosure news broke like two days ago and their shop is already selling fast (testament to how many people want them to survive!) but there are a few items left in stock, including some prehistoric plushies. If you want to make a purchase to help maybe keep them afloat, their online gift shop is here and is honestly extremely reasonably priced.
so how about a FOOT LONG TULLY MONSTER
OR A DUNKLEOSTEUS
OR SOME
TRILOBITE SLIPPERS
They've also got some books, shirts, toys, etc. and I'm sure those sales numbers will help the authors/artists as well.
(Regular donations are also welcomed)

I will have my Sacred Bodies books back in stock in my online store tomorrow (Jan 9th) at around 6 PM GMT.
Wolvendaughter will be restocked at the same time, and Extinction will be restocked on the 11th. I'll hang onto extra copies of SCRB and WLVN to restock/top up along with the Extinction restock on Saturday in case you want to get any of the books together.
Canadian folks - now that the Canada Postal Strikes are over, I can dispatch to Canada again! EU folks - due to the new GPSR rules I can no longer send anything to the European Union.
