Theo James made an excellent point which may get lost because of a wild ride that the show offers. He explained that his character, Edward, gets corrupted by power and violence.

This dark theme is neatly deepened throughout the show and very well resolved at the end. Think about Eddie’s transition from a captain striving to avoid unnecessary border conflicts to a drug lord always having his way. It takes a really unsettling turn. Explored before, famously in the Godfather, the Gentlemen’s new reimagine serves justice to this trope.

The point of the story is that they are not gentlemen. It is just a cover they exploit to justify their horrible deeds.

ARGHHH so…

There are thousands of pop culture articles about “the real life serial killer that inspired Dexter” and it’s just so incorrect!

so these articles often site a brazilian serial killer that focused on killing other killers and following a similar code to Dexter

But (and huge But) Dexter is based off the novel series by author Jeff Lindsay to which he has never referenced this aforementioned brazilian serial killer.

When asked about the true origins of the Dexter character Jeff Lindsay has sited being at an insufferable white collar business event to which he thought to himself “i wanna kill everyone here” which lead him down a psychological psychopath rabbit hole and how seemingly normal people can turn out to be killers. Yeah he did a bunch of researched and interviewed a bunch of criminal psychologists and sat down with killers too but it still remains there is no actual credible link between the brazilian guy and the television Dexter.

Jeff Lindsay in multiple interviews says that Dexter doesn’t mean anything it’s just a bunch of books who cares. but yeah i just hate seeing screen rant or any of those push out an article at all costs websites that don’t do any actual research other than an initial google

IMAGINE HAVING A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE TO WATCH EVERY WEEK FOR 8 WEEKS. i’m just sold on that statement alone just saying

(this is also bringing back event television like that’s just peak 80s TV culture imagine being that authentic to make the last season of a show set in the 80s so special whaaat)

I don't have a name for him yet, but he's an 8 year old boy who lives in zaun, an inspiring artist who mainly does graffiti or large designs in chalk on street grounds. He's learning how to do portraits after seeing the rise in Jinx portraits all around after she became the figure of freedom

And small details that always make me smile, he 'dyed' his hair with chalk, and has belts around his shoes because he never learned how to tie shoes, oversized old overalls that he fixed up after finding them somewhere, jinx socks, and scars on his knees from learning how to jump rooftops. Also his hair is based on my hair irl

Am very curious of the characters/ character designs you were thinking of for that last post?

the example that sticks in my mind is rey star war. the first film wasn't so bad, though it would've been neat if they gave her some scarring or general wear and tear/'lived in'-ness to show that she grew up on a junkyard desert death world (sunburn, ragged nails, weathered skin, BODY HAIR???), but in tlj and tros she was literally wearing visible makeup and her hair was just far too neat and tidy and it was so disappointing because like. she's literally a half feral desert child in a ragtag rebel alliance and you sandpapered her :(
