Mini Fanfic #1238: Setting Off For Ruby's Birthday Night: Believe It!! (RWBY)

5:31 p.m. at JNPRO's Residence..........

Oscar: (In the House) Alright! I'm heading out!!

Jaune: (In the House) Do you have your phone with you?

Oscar: Yep! (Opens the Door as He Walks Outside the House, Dressed as Kakashi Hatake) Right inside my pocket!

Ren: (In The House) Are the others coming!?

Oscar: Yeah, they're gonna be on their way any minute now, so I'll wait out here for a while.

Pyrrha: (In The House) Be sure to cone back here at what time!?

Oscar: 7:55 to 8:00 p.m. sharp. I remember.

Pyrrha: (In the House) Good boi!~

Nora: (In the House) Don't forget to bring Momma Nora a Chocolate Baaaaar!~

Oscar: (Snickers a Bit While Playfully Rolling his Eyes) I'll try and bring four home for you, Nora!

Nora: (In the House) ('Gasps') Really!? Bless your heart!~

Ren: (In the House) Nora, you're on a diet run, remember?

Oscar closes the door behind him. He then turns his head from side to side for a few seconds before pulling out a small booklet from his pants pocket, with the title that reads "Make Out Tactics"

Oscar: (Takes a Deep Breath) Okay. Let's see what we have in here. (Opens the Book He's About to Read) Developing crushes.....how to ask and take an admirer out on a date.....be brave enough to kiss that said partner......evolve the make out session into something more passionate and se- (Eyes Suddenly Begins to Widens Up as His Both Freckled Cheeks Starts to Flare Up the More he Reads) What is this?....I thought this was a book about kissing not love makin-

Oscar: (Immediately Gets Startled) RUBY! (Quickly Hides the Book Behind his Back While Putting the Most Awkward Smile Imaginable) H-Hey, you made it! (Takes a Look at the Costume Ruby's Wearing) You looking more green tonight. Are you going as Might Guy this year?

Ruby: Close. Call me Might Ruby instead~ (Does a Few Guy Sensei Centric Poses) The Most Powerful and Oh So Beautiful Devil of all of Remnant~

Oscar: (Snickers a Bit) Nice. It would be even perfect if you have the bowl cut though.

Ruby: And have it ruin my already perfect hairstyle? No thanks. (Puts on a More Satisfied Grin on her Face) Besides, I'm starting to dig the whole "Might Ruby" concept. Has a nice ring to it, don'tcha think?

Oscar: Yeah, somewhat. Are you excited for tonight?

Ruby: (Happily Nodded) You know it! Trick-or-treating all around your neighborhood AND a birthday party afterwards, in one night? (Makes a Chef's Kiss) Such a magnificent night for the birthday girl, such as myself, indeed~ (Forms a Bit of a Mischievous Smirk on her Face as She Leans Over to Oscar) And what better way to start it off then to find out whatcha hiding behind that back of yours, honey~

Oscar: (Stares Getting Nervous) Uhh! It's....(Chuckles a Bit Awkwardly) Nothing too special out of the ordinary.....

Ruby: Oh c'mon. It gotta be at least something interesting enough for you to hide from me. Something aligned toooo.....My Birthday present?~ (Starts Blinking her Eyes at Oscar in a Very Cutesy Manner)

Oscar: Ruby, your presents are inside the house. (Gets the Booklet Away From his Back Before Pointing it at his Ruby) And you're NOT gonna open any them until we get back there later toni-

Before Oscar could finish his sentence, Ruby immediately swoops in and steals the booklet from his hand in light speed.

Oscar: (Notices the Booklet is Gone Before Putting on a Deadpinned Look on his Face) Dangit.

Ruby: (Puts on a Very Loud Gasps Before Giving her Boyfriend the Most Over Dramatic and Comedic Glare She Could Muster) OSCAR EVERLYNN PINES!! What on Green Earth are you doing with a Make-Out Tactic Book!?

Oscar: It comes with part of the costume!! (Starts Twiddling his Fingers a Bit Shyly) Besides, Kakashi was reading it throughout the runtime of the series, so i figured I check it out for myself.....

Ruby: Are you nuts!? (Points at the Booklet She's Holding) This is filth you were reading, Oscar. FILTH!!

Oscar: (Rolls his Eyes a Bit) Now you tell me....I really thought it was something simple like romance and kissing.

Ruby: ('Sighs Heavily') Yeah....I did too...till I had to look it up. We're gonna end up doing most of that advanced stuff on this book, once get older, aren't we?

Oscar: Not if you don't want to.

Ruby: (Shrugs) Whatevs. It's only a matter of time before we both reach to the insantly we call adulthood.

Oscar: (Gives Ruby a Reassuring Smile as He Gently Grabs Hold of her Hand) Hey, whatever comes our way in the future and beyond, we'll face them all together, am I right?

Ruby: (Stares at Oscar For a Brief Second Before Smiling Back) Mmhm, Always!~ I love you, Oscar~

Oscar: Love you too, Ruby.

Oscar lowers his mask down as he and Ruby shares a kiss on the lips.

????????: 'Sup, nerds.

Oscar/Ruby: (Turns Their Attention to a Very Familiar Face) Hi, Emerald.

Ruby: Oooh~ I like the color of your hair.

Oscar: Yeah, it compliments the entire costume pretty well too.

Emerald: (Dressed as Sakura Haruno) Thanks. Never been a fan of the color pink, but I do have a soft spot for Sakura for the most part. She could give Yang a run for her money on the strength department.

Ruby: (Pouts at Emerald) No way! My big sis can kick Sakura's butt with her robot arm behind her back.

Emerald: Doubt it. But I gotta ask: you notice something different about me, besides my hair being pink?

Oscar: (Notices Something's Missing on Emerald's Back) Your ponytail.....it's gone.

Ruby: (Eyes Starts to Widen at the Discovery) You're right, it is gone! (Looks Back at Emerald) Did you seriously cut it off yourself?

Emerald: Yep. (Casually Shrugs) I figured now it's the time to finally let it all go. Resembles that of mome moving on from my past and what have you.

Oscar: (Smiles Softly) I like it. Makes you look more prettier than you were already.

Ruby: Hm. It's not bad, it's nothing too special either.

Emerald: (Raises an Eyebrow and Smirking at her Form Enemy) Getting jealous of me already, Rose?

Ruby: ('Scoffs') In your dreams! (Pushes the Bottom of her Hair Up in a Elegant Fashion) My beauty is far more unique and delicate than you can ever imagine~

Emerald: (Snickers a Bit) Really now? Kinda hard for me tell you have any of that when you're dressed as a string bean.

Ruby: (Comically Glares at Emerald) Do not disrespect the drip of the GREEN BEAST!!

Oscar: Would you girls please stop fighting already? You're gonna make a scene at rate.

Emerald/Ruby: (Turns to Iscar as They Point at Obe Another) She started it!!

Oscar let's out a sigh before a smoke bomb suddenly drops down and erupts in front of the trio, causing Ruby to gets startled and quickly hug onto her boyfriend..

Emerald: What the hell?

The smoke itself begins to disappear, revealing a grinning Sun Wukong dressed as Naruto Uzumaki amd a coughing Neptune Vasilias dressed as Sasuke Uchiha.

Sun: Heyyy, Party People!

Neptune: We.....('Cough') Finally......('Cou Cough') Arrived....('Cough') (Turns to his Best Friend) Christ, dude, did you have to use that many smoke bombs?

Sun: How else are we gonna make our surprise entrance believable? We're ninjas! Mostly.

Ruby: (Giggles Softly) Looking good already, you guys!~

Oscar: (Happily Nodded in Agreement) Yeah, you almost look exactly like Naruto there, Sun. I'm impressed.

Sun: Why, thank you, kiddos~ (Grabs onto his Chin in a Sophisticated Manner) It's not everyday you get to be half as good looking as the main character himself. (Chuckles Lightly Before Making Fonger Guns) Believe it!

Neptune: (Raises an Eyebrow) I thought Sasuke was the most good looking out of the team.

Emerald: (Shrugs) Ehh. The guy's too overrated for myself. Even then- (Gives Neptune a Seductive Smirk on her Face) He's not even close of being as handsome as you look tonight, Blue~

Neptune: (Genuinely Surprised by Emerald's Flirting) Oh! Uhh- ('Clears Throat') T-Thanks. (Smirks Back at Emerald) You're looking prettier good yourself, Emerald~ (Notices Something Missing on the Back of Emerald Head) Did you cut your ponytail off?

Emerald: Yeah. For personal growth reasons. It....doesn't look too bad, does it?

Neptune: Nah, you look great! Beautiful even~

Emerald: (Giggles Softly While Blushing a Bit) You don't say?~

Oscar: (Watches Neptune and Emerald Along with Ruby and Sun) This is another surprising turn of events. (Turns to Sun) You think they'll get together one of these days

Ruby: A risk I'm more than willing to take. (Lays her Head onto Oscar's Shoulder While Giving Him the Puppy Dog Eyes) You'll swoop me and save me though, right?~ (Starts Blinking her Eyes at Oscar Once Again)

Oscar: ('Sigh') Sure. Been a while since my life was put on risk these days....

Sun: (Notices the Booklet Ruby's Holding) Hey, whatcha got there, Ruby? A notepad?

Ruby: ('Scoffs') I wish. (Gives Sun the Booklet) It's this filthy Make-Out Tactic Book Oscar was reading minutes ago.

Oscar: Ruby!

Sun: (Eyes Starts to Widened at the Booklet in Front of Him) Whaaaaaahahahahahaaa! (Bursts Out Laughing)

Neptune: (Gets Distracted by Sun's Sudden Laughing Along with Emerald) Sun?

Emerald: (Already Has a Slightly Annoyed, Deadpinned Look on her Face) What are you laughing about over there?

Sun: (Tries Dying Down his Laughter) Oscar.....Reading........Make-Out Tacticheheheheee! (Shows the Duo the Booklet) See?

Neptune: (Eyes Widened at the Booklet in Front of Him and Emerald) No freaking way.....It's REAL!?

Emerald: (Forms a Mischievous Smirk on her Face) Oh, this is definitely my night right here. (Turns to her Appointed Little Brother) Whatcha doing reading smut, boy?

Oscar: (Comically Glares at Emerald) It came with the freaking costume!! (Crosses his Arms While Turning Away, Pouting) Besides, the only thing I read was the table of the contents

Emerald playfully raises an eyebrow while Neptune examines the Make-Out Tactic booklet along with Sun.

Emerald: Suuuuuuuuuure you did~

Oscar: (Turns Back to Emerald) I'm serious! I stopped reading the very moment Ruby came over here!

Ruby: (Hugs Oscar in an Over Dramatic Fashion) It's true!~ His sweet, precious innocence would've been tarnished completely if I haven't arrived in time~

Oscar: See? She said it herself. Please don't tell Nora and the others about this, I am begging you.

Emerald: (Grabs her Chin) Hmmmmmmm....I suppose I can keep my mouth shut over this, IF you give me some chocolates in return~

Oscar: (Gives Emerald a Deadpinned Look on his Face) Seriously? Can't you trick-or-treat for some yourself like the rest of us?

Oscar: (Rolls his Eyes) More like lazy......

Oscar: Alright, alright, fine! You can have all of my chocolates. Except for the bars. I'm saving them for Nora.

Emerald: Hmm...A chocolate bar does sound scrumptious right about now~

Pyrrha: (Opens the Front Door From the Inside) Oscar, is everything okay out here?

Oscar: (Immediately Turns his Head to Nora with a Slightly Awkward Smile on his Face) Y-Yeah, yeah. I'm doing good, Pyrrha. Promise. I love you!

Pyrrha: (Hearts Begins to Melt in Pure Happiness) I love you more, sweetie!~ (Turns to Emerald with a Pout) You're not bullying my baby tonight, are you Sustrai?

Emerald: Don't worry, Pyrrha. I ain't messing with him. You have my word.

Pyrrha: Hmmmmmm.......Alright. If you say so. Are you all waiting for a few more people to arrive?

Emerald: (Puts on a More Satisfied Smile on her Face) Well, with that out of the way, I'm more than happy that I did business with you, kiddo. Love you~

Oscar: (Rolls his Eyes in Pure Annoyance) Uh-huh.

Oscar: (Already has His Scroll Out and Taking Pictures Like Everyone Else) She's just playing her role as Might Ruby for a bit, don't worry about it.

Whitley: Might Ruby- (Notices the Costume Ruby's Wearing Before Putting on a Deadpinned Look Again) ('Sigh') Of course.

Ruby: Now then. (Points Towards the Sunset in the Distance) Tonight, let's race ourselves to the sunset and get as many delicious candies we can get, in the Spirit of Youth!~

Whitley: ('Hmph') (Crosses his Arms) You can race yourself if want. I have enough running around the block for one year.

Ruby: (Smiles Brightly) That's cool. I can give you a piggyback ride instead.

Whitley: Yes, well- (Eyes Widened Again) Wait. I beg your pardon?- W-WOAH! (Suddenly Gets Pull and Got on Ruby's Back) What the scalops!!?

Without any rhyme or warning, Whitley let out a more fearful scream as Might Ruby uses her semblance to zooms across the neighborhood in high speed.

Sun: (Watches Chaos Ensures Along with Everyone Who're Still Present) And they are off without a bang.

Neptune: (Turns to Weiss) You think your little bro will be okay out there?

Weiss: (Simply Nodded) I believe so. He's gotten more toughest than he looks these days. (Notices Neptune Holding Something) What kind of book is that you're holding?

Emerald: That Make-Out Tactic Book Oscar's been reading.

Oscar: Emerald!!

Emerald: (Casually Shrugs) Oops~

Trying to add more information to the Maria Robotnik's Fast Track AU.

The first post didn't really have much information regarding the AU, so hopefully this next post can add more too it. A little justified since I just made the AU pretty much.

This one will attempt to... well... add more information to it, mainly ideas for the paint schemes, tracks and a few other characters as well.

Paint scheme ideas.

I orginally said ideas for the cars, but I actually ment to say paint schemes, since the cars themselves are 90s NASCAR stock cars.

I also headcanon that they're specifically based on the CES prototype cars seen here:

Yeah, they're pretty much the same as the cars from the regular arcade game, just with a more basic look and without the rear tires popped out.

Anyways, I don't need to explain Maria Robotnik's car, since I already mentioned that her car is literally the player's car in Daytona USA. Specifically the AT colors. You've all probably seen this car before, you know what it looks like.

Now... onto the others...

Melody [LAST NAME SPOILER]: #13, Scorpio Plasma

The sponsor is a reference to the one seen on the normal level car from Daytona USA 2, while the number is a refrence to the Hornet's number in Daytona USA Deluxe/CCE.

Helen: #67, Chaos Cola

Frances: #68, Chaos Soda

Just felt like Chaos Cola and Soda should be sponsors really. Plus, Sonic X is mostly based on the Adventure-era games, so it'd fit.

Princess Elise: #06, Balance

This one I brefly mentioned in the last post, but the car is pretty much one big Daytona USA Deluxe/CCE reference, as the #99 Balance car is one of the cars that you can drive in the game. The number is a pretty obvious nod though.

This catgirl's sponsor is the company that made Sonic themselves! I know that Sara is a gamer in some of the OVA's scenes, so I thought her sponsoring a video game company would fit. The number meanwhile is a reference to Sonic CD's release date (1993). The Sonic OVA does have Metal Sonic in there, so it makes sense to me.

Hope Kintobor: #14, SOAP

Hope's number is ment to be a reversed version of Maria's number, and the sponsor is based on the SOAP Shoes ad seen in City Escape.

Molly: #58, Emerald Notwork

Sponsor is just another reference to an ad seen in City Escape.

Merlina: #00, Phantom Full Force

The sponsor is a reference the one seen on the hard level car from Daytona USA 2.

Sage: #51, Eggman Empire

The number is a nod to Roudy Burns' number in Days of Thunder, and I figured that Eggman would definelty sponsor his empire on the car, he is a narcissist afterall. And to fit with the retro vibe, the Eggman Empire logo could be the same on seen in Sonic 2 down below.

Claris Sinclar: #16, Oriole

Helen Cartwright: #2, Max

Like Elise's car, these two cars are playable cars in Daytona USA Deluxe/CCE. Though, they actually have the proper numbers of course.

Hatsune Miku: #01, Greatsmirk Racing

I mentioned this one in the previous post, but for those unaware, the sponsor is a parody of Goodsmile Racing, something that Miku is commonly assosiated with. The number is a reference to to the number seen on Miku's shoulders.

I'm still unsure if they will actually appear here, but Hyperdimension Neptunia was published by SEGA, so it's still a possibility. Regardless I'll tell you the ideas for their cars anyways.

The tracks are pretty straight forward, they're mostly existing tracks from Daytona USA and Virtua Racing. And while they don't really matter in this AU, I did mention before that this could work better as a fangame, so track list is as follows:

Other Characters

Alright, time to introduce other miscellaneous characters.

The Mobians (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty, Ray, Shadow and Amy Rose), Madonna, and Dr. Eggman.

The crew from Sonic The Hedgehog of course, as well as a scrapped human character from the Tokyo Toy Show build. They all utilise their classic designs to fit with the overall 90s vibe the AU is going for.

Currently, Shadow is the only modern-era mobian included in this AU. He will have a custom "classic" design to fit with everyone else.

Sonic and his pals (and Shadow) usually hang out and have their own adventures outside the race track, but they also hang out near the garages and watch the cars zoom by. Sonic and Tails also often help out in the garage or within the popcorn booths as well. While Shadow goes to see Maria.

Amy Rose and Madonna work as race queens, they do race queen stuff, nuff said. (And yeah, the idea of Madonna being one of the racers is retconned now.)

Dr. Eggman isn't really an evil mad scientist here, he's more of a goofy nuisance who likes to cause trouble while still being a self-centered narcissist like in canon. To sum it up, he's JP Eggman with elements of Dick Dastardly if he were the owner of a race team instead of a driver.

Tom West and Mr. Virt McPolygon.

The race announcers who work for SEGA Sports Channel, you can probably guess what they do.

Tom West comes from Daytona USA 2 while Mr. Virt McPolygon comes from Virtua Racing.

And that's all there is to this semi-extended post about the AU. Now I'll admit, there still isn't much here, but then again, like I said in the previous post, there isn't really a "story" for the AU by any means.

Hey KitKat I have a question and sorry if this is a weird question:

Is there anything wrong with liking certain rwby characters that are not as popular?

I like Neptune even with the small scenes he had in canon yet I have met fans that didn’t like my opinion because of the whole dance arc.

I understand he is not perfect but I think the part that really bother me is that when I try addressing their character flaws apparently I was the bad guy?

Why is their character immune to criticism when they have just as much flaws?

I don't think there's anything wrong with liking pretty much any character so long as the flaws the character has are acknowledged and (if included in writing) are actually written as flaws.

Neptune is a great example and I also happen to like him, so this is a great place to discuss it. XD Neptune in canon severely suffered from the RWBY writers' misogyny, as he was written as a giant douchebag partially to prop up Jaune's 'nice guy' thing, but since the writers were misogynists, Neptune's own cool guy dudebro 'womanizer' thing was treated as not a big problem and not a deal breaker to the other characters even when he made women visibly uncomfortable and kept flirting like with Team NDGO and with Ilia. And since he was a side character without a lot of screentime and like zero growth, that's kinda like sixty percent of his character at least and the rest of it is pretty thin. In canon, there isn't much to him. And it's important that no one defends or refuses to admit that Neptune in canon is a douchebag who doesn't respect women. But also... Neptune is a fictional person. he isn't real, 'condemning him for his actions' seems kind of ridiculous, and making him better or making him get better in fanfics or just liking the rest of his non-douchey character traits and his design and wanting to have fun with that shouldn't be treated as bad. It's the same with any RWBY character, even much worse ones who have done worse things morally speaking than making women uncomfortable, like Ironwood, Adam, Emerald, Mercury, Roman, Neo, Cinder, Salem, JACQUES SCHNEE even. Like, I hate Jacques with the power of a thousand burning suns, he's evil and trash and I would never redeem him or have a better version of him in my headcanons (even though I love and value redemption arcs, I also personally think having characters that don't get redeemed and instead demonstrate examples of how even though everyone can be redeemed, some people won't be redeemed is beneficial) but if somebody else did... So long as they aren't excusing or defending his actions, so what? I write fanfictions about redeemed Kylo Ren and redeemed Count Olaf, so I have no space to judge.

People have this weird tendency to treat fictional characters like they're real people, like they need to answer for their crimes, like they 'can't change,' and it's so strange to me. Fictional characters are whatever people want them to be, and they don't exist, so their crimes are all fictional, so... Why would they 'need to be punished?' XD Also, the same people who have this 'we should condemn fictional characters,' 'how dare you like this character when they did X bad thing,' 'writing anything except hate for this character is abuse apologism' people... They almost always like a villain themselves. XD Whether it's a villain in RWBY like Cinder, Salem, Tyrian, Watts, Hazel, Raven, etc, or whether it's a villain outside of RWBY like the Joker, Harley Quinn, Azula, Darth Vader, Sephiroth, Catra, Lotor, Maleficent, etcetera.

But yeah, in general, I think you should ignore those people. If you like Neptune, more power to you! If you want to write fics or headcanons or what have you about Neptune realizing that the way he acted was wrong, even more power to you! If you write things where Neptune was never a womanizer or misogynist to begin with, cool! If people get angry at you over something like writing a teenage boy to deconstruct his misogyny or making said teenage boy not that way in the first place, then they're probably not people you want to know. Hope this helps. :)
