none of this is new info, but you know I have the "loves to write lists and compile links" disposition, so I thought it might be helpful to share some of the tips I've seen about how to make sure you're sharing legitimate palestinian evacuation fundraisers and bundle all those tips into a single handy reference post.
this is a spreadsheet of legitimate ("vetted") fundraisers on tumblr.
this post explains how the people who maintain this spreadsheet confirm the legitimacy of each fundraiser they add.
this podcast episode ("yousef and the fourth move") explains why evacuation fundraisers are often organized by people who don't live in gaza and/or who may not be immediate relatives of the people trying to evacuate. it's part three of a series about a man named yousef and his family; parts one and two aren't required listening for part three to make sense, but if you have a few hours to spare then I wholeheartedly recommend listening to all of them.
this is the process that I personally have been using to check whether a particular fundraiser has been vetted:
spreadsheet method
open the vetted fundraisers spreadsheet.
inside this spreadsheet, open the "find..." menu. on a windows computer, this shortcut is ctrl+F. on a mac, this shortcut is cmd+F. on a mobile device, click the three dots menu in the upper right corner of your screen, then select Find and replace.
search for the last name of the person or family in the fundraiser. you may get several results because last names obviously aren't unique; keep hitting "next" until you've looked at all the results.
if you find an entry in the spreadsheet that has the exact same name and whose gofundme link leads to the same fundraiser associated with the blog, it's legitimate. if you don't find an entry in the spreadsheet that matches the blog's fundraiser, that does not mean it's a scam. try the next method below!
tumblr search method
copy the username of the tumblr who originally posted the fundraiser and/or sent you a message asking you to boost the fundraiser. (for example, username123)
paste this username into tumblr's search bar.
for best results, click the All types drop-down menu, then select Text. since the search page is often dominated by asks sent by username123 (which people then answer and tag with their username), this helps narrow things down a bit.
look to see if any people who are not username123 have made posts confirming that username123 is legitimate. this includes people who've reblogged fundraisers and added notes, people who've compiled masterlists, and people sharing hyperlinks to other posts confirming a fundraiser's legitimacy. if the message seems to be "yep, looks legit," then it's safe to assume it's legit.
this is not a comprehensive list, but here are some of the usernames I've seen associated with "yep, looks legit"-type posts and who I've come to trust by association. (disclaimers: I am not mutuals with any of the users, and not all of them do the vetting firsthand, but the ones who don't vet posts themselves still seem to be careful about what they share and therefore are a good lead to follow. also, don't bug these people to vet fundraisers for you unless they've specifically indicated that they're open to that.)
90-ghost
el-shab-hussein
nabulsi
appsa
northgazaupdates
retvolution
communistchilchuck
neptunerings
a-shade-of-blue
shimamitsu
neither of these methods yielded anything definitive; what now?
it may just be too early to tell. unless a trusted source has shared overwhelming evidence that a particular fundraiser is a scam (which seems to be a very very rare occurrence), the best thing you can do is ignore it. don't report their blog as spam, because there's a good chance it's a legitimate fundraiser who just hasn't been vetted yet.

⎯⎯ Love Me Not
hamzah x reader
based off the song love me not by ravyn lenae
summary: hamzah has been neglecting his girlfriend y/n due to his busy work schedule. y/n feels invisible and frustrated by his lack of attention.
warnings: sad???
wc: 1.9k
a/n: hello! this is my first time writing, so I’m sorry if it sucks lol. i was listening to this song and thought it would make a great plot for a story! hope you enjoy it! :3
-
The glow of the computer screen cast soft shadows across Hamzah’s face as he sat hunched over his desk. The air in his room was quiet except for the faint sound of his fingers tapping rhythmically on the keyboard. The newest Slushy Noobz video was almost done—just a few finishing touches before it would be uploaded for their fans who eagerly awaited their next upload.
But tonight, Hamzah wasn’t entirely focused.
His thoughts kept wandering to y/n, his girlfriend. She’d been on his mind constantly lately—more so than usual.
He hadn’t seen her much over the past few weeks. They were both content creators, each with their own projects, and while it was something they’d always been able to juggle in the past, recently it had begun to feel like the space between them was growing. She was in the living room, editing her own content, while he was buried in the latest Slushy Noobz video.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be with her, but he found himself getting swept up in the grind, constantly chasing the next big upload, the next milestone for his and Martin’s podcast, Out of Character. There was always something to do, something to edit, something to record.
But now, the silence between them seemed louder than ever. They hadn’t fought—at least, not in the usual way—but something unspoken lingered. Something that neither of them had fully addressed. And it was starting to feel like a weight pressing against his chest.
He glanced at his phone. y/n had sent him a message hours ago, but he hadn’t replied. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, but everything had felt off.
Her text simply read: We need to talk soon.
The simple words made his heart sink. He knew exactly what she meant. She was frustrated. And he had been too distracted to notice.
With a deep breath, he closed his laptop, pushing the editing software aside. It felt like a relief to step away, but his heart ached with the nagging thought of the distance between them. He stood up, walking into the living room where y/n sat, bathed in the soft glow of her screen.
She looked up when he entered, and for a moment, neither of them said anything.
Hamzah opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, y/n stood up, her arms crossed. She looked tired, not just physically, but emotionally. He had seen that look before—the quiet frustration that came from being overlooked, from being too far down the list of priorities.
“I’m sorry, y/n,” he said, his voice quiet. “I know I’ve been distant. I’ve been caught up in work, and I didn’t realize how much it was affecting us.”
y/n gave a small, sad smile, but there was no warmth behind it. “I get it, Hamzah. You’re busy. But we haven’t really talked in weeks. I’ve been here, just waiting for you to notice, but it feels like I’m invisible.” Her voice broke on the last word, but she quickly swallowed the emotion, not wanting to show him too much.
“y/n…” Hamzah stepped forward, but she backed away slightly, a flicker of something in her eyes that he couldn’t quite understand.
“You don’t even see it, do you?” she asked softly, almost as if talking to herself. “I’m right here, all the time, and yet it feels like you’re living in another world—one where I don’t exist. Where it’s just you and the next video and the next podcast.”
He could feel the sting of her words, and he hated the way they made him feel like he was failing her.
“I don’t want you to feel that way,” Hamzah said, his voice barely a whisper now. “I don’t mean to make you feel invisible. I just… I don’t know how to slow down sometimes. There’s so much going on, and I get lost in it. But I never meant for you to feel left out.”
y/n shook her head slowly. “It’s not that you’re busy, Hamzah. I get it, I really do. It’s just that I don’t know where I fit in anymore. I’m here, and I care, but I’m starting to wonder if we’re even in the same place anymore.”
His chest tightened as the weight of her words sank in. He wasn’t sure what to say, how to fix it. He hadn’t been paying attention to what mattered most.
“I don’t need you to change everything, Hamzah,” she continued, her voice soft but firm. “I just want to matter to you. I want to be something real, not just an afterthought that comes second to everything else.”
“I do care about you,” Hamzah replied quickly, his heart racing. “I do, y/n. It’s just… it’s hard to balance it all. I don’t want to lose you.”
For a long moment, y/n stayed quiet, her gaze on the floor, her fingers lightly tapping on the edge of her laptop.
Finally, she looked up at him, her eyes heavy with a mix of pain and longing. “You say you don’t want to lose me, but you’ve been losing me slowly for weeks. I don’t know if you see it, but I miss you, Hamzah. I miss you, but I don’t need you. I miss the way we were before this whole thing took over. I miss you, come here.”
The words hit him harder than any criticism he’d received. The truth of it all hung in the air, like a silence that neither of them knew how to break.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice cracking just a little. “I miss you, too. But I don’t know how to fix this... I don’t want to keep failing us.”
y/n closed her eyes for a moment, taking a slow breath. When she opened them again, there was something softer in her gaze, something that felt like a mixture of hope and resignation. “Maybe we just need to find our way back. I don’t know, Hamzah. But I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep waiting for you to realize I’m here.”
Her words lingered in the air like a shadow between them, a painful truth neither of them could ignore. Without another word, y/n was gone. The door clicked shut behind her, and the silence that followed was suffocating. The house felt colder now, emptier, as if her absence had seeped into the walls, leaving Hamzah alone with the weight of everything unsaid.
-
Hours later, as the quiet of the night settled in, Hamzah sat in front of his desk again. His video was still unfinished, but for the first time, the video felt less important than the empty space beside him. y/n was gone now, her absence heavier than any argument they could have had. The silence in the house was suffocating, and the stillness in the air made his thoughts spin.
He stared at his screen, but the words from their earlier conversation kept replaying in his mind: I miss you, but I don’t need you, Hamzah. I miss you, come here. Those words hadn’t just been a declaration of longing—they had been a quiet assertion of independence, a signal that y/n was done waiting for him to notice.
Hamzah rubbed his temples, feeling the weight of what she’d said. She didn’t need him anymore, no matter how much she still missed him. The space between them wasn’t just physical anymore; it was emotional, deep, and unspoken. He realized she had given him a choice—one he hadn’t fully understood until now.
He reached for his phone, hesitated for a moment, then typed a message to her: “I don’t know what I’m doing, but I don’t want to lose you. Can we talk tomorrow?”
He hit send and waited. The seconds dragged on, stretching into what felt like hours, but no response came.
A moment later, the familiar vibration of a reply lit up his phone. He quickly unlocked it, hoping for some kind of resolution. But when he saw her message, a heavy weight sank into his chest.
“Okay.”
The words were short, almost distant. There was no warmth, no eagerness to reconnect. Just a quiet acceptance.
-
They sat on opposite ends of the couch, the space between them more suffocating than any physical distance. y/n’s voice was calm, but there was a sharpness to her words that cut through the silence.
“I miss you, Hamzah,” she started, her gaze never leaving the floor. “I miss how we used to be, but I can’t keep pretending that things will go back to the way they were. I’m tired of waiting for you to notice me, for you to put me first. I need to move on, for my own sake.”
Hamzah opened his mouth, but the words stuck in his throat. He wanted to apologize, to say he could change, but deep down, he knew it wouldn’t be enough. He knew that something had already shifted between them, something that couldn’t be undone with words.
y/n continued, her voice steady despite the ache in it. “I’ve tried, Hamzah. I’ve tried to make this work, but it’s like I’m invisible to you. I’m right here, and you’re always so caught up in your work. I miss you, but I don’t need you anymore.”
Her words hit him like a punch to the gut. The weight of them sank deep, and he realized that she wasn’t just saying goodbye—she was choosing herself. Choosing independence over the emotional attachment that had once connected them.
“I think... I think it’s time we both move forward,” y/n said, her voice quieter now, but firm. “I can’t keep waiting for something that might never come. You’re not the only one with dreams and goals, Hamzah. I’ve got my own life to live, and I can’t keep holding on to something that isn’t there anymore.”
A silence stretched between them, thick with unspoken words and feelings neither of them could fully articulate. Hamzah wanted to reach out, to say anything that might change her mind, but he could see it in her eyes: she had made her decision.
She was already gone.
Later that night, after y/n had left for good, Hamzah sat alone in the empty house. The space felt colder than it had before, as if her absence had stolen the warmth from the walls. He sat in front of his desk, staring at the finished video, but all he could feel was the heavy silence that had taken her place.
The message he had sent her earlier echoed in his mind—I don’t want to lose you. But as he replayed their conversation over and over, he realized that he had already lost her. He had lost her to the space he had failed to notice, to the time he had neglected, and to the love he had taken for granted.
The realization stung more than he expected. He missed her too, more than words could say. But as much as he longed for things to be different, he couldn’t deny the truth: she was better off without him, seeking her own path, her own independence.
Hamzah leaned back in his chair, eyes closed, feeling the weight of everything she had said. He missed her. But more than that, he understood why she had to go. The ache in his chest reminded him that sometimes, love wasn’t enough to hold two people together.
And for y/n, it had been time to let go.

If you like The Locked Tomb, listen to these podcasts!

Where The Stars Fell:
Dr. Edison Tucker is having a very weird life. Not being able to die tends to color things that way. Lucille Kensington is the literary scene’s biggest enigma. That’s just the way she likes it. When the pair find themselves sharing a cabin in the strangest town in America— Jerusalem, OR— they’re prepared for a housemate situation from hell. What they’re not expecting is tidings of a stranger sort: Ed is the antichrist, Lucy her guardian angel, and if they can’t find a way to work together soon, the rapture is set to take first the town, then the world… but neither of them know that yet. Welcome to Jerusalem, OR, where what doesn’t kill you is just another mystery.
The creators have a whole post on why WTSF is perfect for The Locked Tomb and Griddlehark fans!
Malevolent:
Arkham Private Investigator Arthur Lester wakes up with no memory of who he is or what has happened, only a nameless, eerie voice guiding him through the darkness. Blind, terrified, and confused, his journey will lead him towards a series of mysteries in the hopes of understanding the truth of what has transpired. As cosmic horrors seep into the world around, Arthur must ask himself whether this entity truly seeks to help him, or are its intentions more… malevolent?
Dathen says it perfectly here: "The relationship between the investigator and the voice is by far the #1 sell of this story. It’s messy and ugly and beautiful and complicated and terribly, wonderfully intimate. It ended up overlapping a lot of my feelings about Harrow and Gideon, and lyctorhood in general."
Hello From The Hallowoods:
Come walk between the black pines! In this award-winning queer fiction podcast, a cosmic narrator follows the increasingly connected residents of the forest at the end of the world. It's a bittersweet story that explores queer identity, horror genre tropes, and finding hope in humanity's last moments.
If you like Gideon Nav, you will love Riot Maidstone. Just look at this fanart!

Matthew Goode "has that fire behind the eyes"
Incredible praise for the performances in Freud's Last Session, particularly Matthew Goode, in this interesting podcast about the film (link below). I must listen to their podcast about The Offer because they loved Matthew as Bob.
I have extracted the most interesting bits from the transcript (that is, the MG bits 😆).
I do agree with them Matthew is at par with the great and the good and that he was snubbed by awards more than once (but I think it's more than twice!).
I love that they have picked up on his non-verbal communication. I love that quote "fire behind the eyes"!
Interesting they think his lack of visibility despite the brilliant acting is because he is in a crowded field (many good actors in his generation). I think it's a bit more complicated than that, a confluence of circumstances and choice perhaps 🤔
📷 Freud's Last session (2023) stills from Sharmill Films
Freud's Last Session, A Discussion | Cinema: A to B (August 2023)
I felt like the acting was operating at a higher level than the source material.
2.46 Amazing neither of these guys got any sort of other nominations for acting and I'm not talking about necessarily Academy Awards but I'm talking like maybe baftas or something else. I think is kind of a shame frankly this is like the second thing I've seen mat Matthew Gooden that he was completely like ignored via nomination
3:35 … the acting's tremendous.
5:11 Watching two masters work and I'm going to use that with Matthew good I've seen him now on enough stuff and how he can change and how he and he holds his own with Anthony Hopkins I did not feel it was like Anthony Hopkins was at this level and Matthew good was at this level or what like you know low that was a little bit lower or whatever like they're equal like they are it's a nice repertoire or you know reper of the two of them going back and forth and I'm just super impressed
5:40 I mean obviously we talked about the offer already I think he was amazing as Bob Evans like really just changed his entire personality to really mimic Bob Evans and here he's nothing like it he's very reserved very intelligent very academic like he really pulls that off I mean Matthew good I really feel like is one of those like that unknown I want to say like the poor man's Benedict Cumberbatch but only in the sense of the Poor Man's because he's not as well known as Benedict Cumberbatch like he's got that acting chops of Cumberbatch he should be playing roles that Cumberbatch isn't heck he's been in movies that Cumberbatch is in imitation game …he held his own there I mean so Matthew good is amazing and it as so fun to watch him
14:13 Freud just wears his emotions on his sleeve and then good is really great at having that restrained but that fire burning behind the eyes which is something that he did so well in um The Watchmen yeah so really spot-on casting
14:31 I mean yeah and he he was able good was able to like internalize a whole lot of that but yet still like you said kind of show it Through The Eyes through the facial features of Lewis's has great respect for Freud
16:44 Matthew's like holding his own and countering properly and yeah they're they're good they're good together
16:52 I'm excited to see what Matthew does what what he goes on to do to see if he starts getting some bigger roles and more important stuff I mean he does have a small body not I don't know small is the the right word for it I know he does have a body of work already but it's not as robust as Hopkins you know and it definitely hasn't the same trajectory as Hopkins did yeah and he I think he lost out roles that went to Christian Bale yeah I can see that or like Bale's a little older but I just looked up Matthew was born in 78 so I think it's kind of just a circumstance you know luck of the draw kind of thing yeah cuz he reminds me quite a bit of Bale the way he kind of moves and Carries himself and the British actor that that category is kind of crowded with like really good actors I mean if you look guys like born in the 70s like mid to late like that's just a ton of them it's super crowded so I think he's run into some of that yeah and there's I mean obviously there's only so many roles and people.

No, Iceland is not up to "dirty political tricks" and neither is Bashar Murad
Hey lovely people, spirits, souls, and ghouls of Tumblr! To those of you who don't follow me on TikTok, there's a video I made just yesterday concerning Iceland (the lil Eurovision Country that Could!), Israel, a certain Irish TikTok-er with impressively horrible media literacy, and our dearest friend Bashar Murad. If you're not on TikTok, that's wonderful and dear god you don't need to subject yourself to that app. Instead, I wanted to make a post that explains what's going on, what's being said, and why one (1) Palestinian is not responsible for the aforementioned "dirty" political tricks.
If you're following Eurovision or just Bashar Murad himself, consider giving this a read.
So let's begin! First: who's calling Bashar Murad/Iceland "dirty"? Where am I getting that word from and why is it in quotes? That's because: it IS a quote! Buck wild, I know. This is a quote from the TikTok account AllThingsAdam.ie, run by the Irish Eurovision...fan? Podcast-haver? Idk, I'm not saying "journalist" because if I wanted to have a laugh, I would just watch the Unicorn edit I made a couple months ago. Did I share that here yet? Just in case, here it is:
Never fails to make me smile. Great edit, Me! Anyway, back on topic: Adam McCallig is a person with a TikTok account that has half a million followers, he has a podcast where he's interviewed Eurovision and NF artists, so he's definitely a "known figure" to a certain point. I can't sit here and say he's some random troll, y'know? So, in a TikTok that has since been deleted from his page, he accuses Iceland of being up to "dirty political Eurovision 2024 tricks." I created a TikTok where I briefly show this video, and here's a link to that! You can watch that for my condensed version of everything I'm talking about here, but this Tumblr post is for those who like reading what I have to say in longer form. Here's that video:
Since Adam's video is now "gone," I will do my best and summarize what he stated with whatever journalistic integrity I have. First: you hear him open the video with the word "dirty." So no one can say I'm putting words in his mouth -- no no, these are lifted from the source material, honey. Next, he goes on to claim that Bashar "has no connection to Iceland whatsoever." As much as Adam wants this to be true, it just...isn't?? Like, let's ignore Bashar's longtime collaborations with HATARI. Instead, let's look at him literally performing on the Songvakeppnin stage in the 2020 NF season:
youtube
Additionally, the claim "Bashar has no connection to Iceland" rings very hollow not only when we know this claim is false, but it's not one Adam brings up about the many artists trying to represent a country other than their own in the 2024 NF season. Adam says he "knows that countries can let artists from whatever country represent them," but he hasn't made any videos about Marcus & Martinus (Norwegian) competing in Sweden's National Final. Tali (Israeli-born) is representing Luxembourg this year, and MEGARA (Spanish) are representing San Marino. "Foreign" artists representing any country in ESC is FAR from new, and if it were a punishable offense, Celine Dion would just have to settle for being Canadian.
However, as soon as Bashar Murad takes the stage and the colors of the Palestinian flag are visible, Adam is ready to take to TikTok and say "dirty political tricks" are at play -- before deleting it later, like I mentioned. In fact, not only did he delete it! Mere hours before writing this post, I used my second TT account to peep his page and he posted a video saying "One of these four songs should represent Iceland in Eurovision!" and showed snippets of four songs competing in the Icelandic NF Grand Finale, which takes place on Saturday the 2nd of March. However: there aren't four songs competing to win for Iceland. There's five. Which four did he show? The fours songs that AREN'T Bashar Murad. And yet, he's the one being dirty in all this? Adam, sweetie, the dirty call is coming from inside the dirty house.
Now, you might wonder if Adam has kept this kind of energy when talking about Israel's Eurovision participation, which at time of writing is still very much up in the air. But thing is: he doesn't. At least, not really. Adam has posted a video condemning the alleged song that Israel is trying to submit to Eurovision titled "October Rain." I won't go too deep into that -- please follow @/IsraelBreaksRules on Twitter for more details on this!! But basically, what Adam is attempting to do is play some sort of "political centrist" take on Eurovision, while simultaneously trying to say "Keep politics OUT of Eurovision!!" And at the end of his deleted video, Adam claimed that while "what happened in Gaza is terrible," Iceland is just as guilty for playing political tricks as Israel might be, and Bashar Murad's participation is just as bad.
Two things wrong with that statement, Adam. One: It's not what "happened" in Gaza. It's not past tense. It's on-going. It hasn't stopped. That's actually -- believe it or not -- WHY WE'RE STILL HERE. And two: JUST AS BAD?? REALLY??
If you watched my TikTok response that I shared the link to, you'll have seen the evidence I shared. But I wanna share them again just so you all can clearly see how the "political tricks" at play this year are not on the part of Iceland, nor would they be "just as bad." Where do we begin? Maybe we could begin with the fact that "Wild West," Bashar's song, has been spammed with negative reviews by anti-Palestinian ESC fans. This is mathematically observable when you notice "Wild West" has roughly THREE TIMES as many reviews as the other Icelandic NF songs on EurovisionWorld.com. You can check them out here and see the numbers yourself.
But it doesn't stop at bad reviews. Israeli ESC fans have begun a campaign to mass vote against Bashar, specifically for Hera Bjork, one of the four other competitors in Iceland's final on Saturday. This is really funny to me though because if Bashar doesn't win, it should totally be Sigga Ozk, right? GO TIFFANY!!! Anyway, I digress. A link to an article covering this voting campaign can be found here!
Not only is Bashar facing backlash, hate, and organized efforts AGAINST his participation, Israel is funneling money and resources into Facebook ads that look like this, claiming to shape the narrative:

...as well as filming "comedy" "sketches" like this "song" called...
*deep existential sigh* "Jews Pua" Link to that video here, if you can stand three minutes of awful propaganda containing just the right combination of shitty, easy rhymes and enough pinkwashing to put "Cops at Pride!" to shame. All of this should make it VERY clear to anyone observing this situation as a whole that the political tricks at play are NOT being done equally from everyone involved. Dare I boldly say: this shit is INCREDIBLY ONE-SIDED and we need to remind ourselves of the awful reality that is Israel's access to the money, ability, and audience of their "dirty political tricks" more so than Bashar Murad or Iceland ever could.
Lastly, let's just acknowledge the racism-shaped elephant in the room. Now, I as a white American am not here to play "Racism Police." That will never be the case. What I am about to say applies to the greater conversation, and it's not just an "Adam" problem. It's a problem we see happen when one (1) Palestinian decides to exist and write a song, and the way the world has been built around us conditions us to see that and scream "dirty political trickery afoot!!" Truly, ask yourself is this is "equal" in any way shape or form, as Adam posited. Adam and people like him will treat Iceland and Israel as equal, but that doesn't automatically make them "equal."
We are living in a world where Israel is currently being sued for genocide. That is not an exaggeration, it's just something we can all see and talk about. Israel is a country that has the money, platform, and bias of the most powerful countries of the world to not be held to the same standards of responsibility for the horrible things they're doing, nor is my own country being properly held accountable for PAYING for these things they're doing. Race is something used as a tool to identify oppressed peoples not just because it's discriminatory, but it tells people who aren't part of that group that people like Bashar Murad are simply political just by existing. Nowhere does Adam mention that Bashar and his song "Wild West" are about his journey as an artist having to leave his home and travel thousands of miles to the global "west" to even have a chance of representing Iceland (not Palestine, not Gaza, just Iceland) in Eurovision while the country responsible for the death of his people are facing MUCH less scrutiny from the Eurovision powers that be, let alone Irish TikTok accounts with re: shitty media literacy skills.
My final message to you is this: if you're someone paying attention to Eurovision and you maybe feel confused or overwhelmed by Israel, Iceland, Bashar, etc. etc. etc., here's what I want to tell you:
This is not an equal game. Iceland/Bashar are nowhere near on the same level as Israel and the money/access they have to GLOBAL levels of propaganda. Israel, in fact, verbally confirms how they want to use Eurovision to "shape the narrative" which is far dirtier, far more political than just the song "Wild West." Moreover, thinking that treating Eurovision as apolitical or that EVERYONE deserves the SAME level of EQUAL scrutiny only helps Israel at the end of the day. The things they've done, are doing, and hope to do are representative of tens of thousands of people they've killed in the last few months alone. Would you genuinely look at Bashar Murad trying to represent Iceland and say "Yep, these two things are the same"? My hope is that you wouldn't, but people like Adam clearly do.
Don't be like Adam. Don't play this weak-ass centrism card that ultimately helps no one and just makes it easier for people to shift blame, suspicion, or anger towards Bashar Murad. This is not the fight being had right now, and don't let it waste your time. Focus on what and who matters, which is obviously: the country doing genocide and wants us all to be chill with that.
PS. As a personal recommendation, "Wild West" and "Into the Atmosphere" are my two favs to win for Iceland, so def go gives those a stream. And while you're at it, let Bashar himself take you on a visual journey that might help you understand his message a bit better.
Much love you all. Thank you for being here. EuroQuision out.

Rose has been squirrely since you got up this morning.
After your late night in LA you decided you deserved to sleep in a bit, given your practice had been moved to the afternoon. This meant that Rose, ever the morning person she is, was already up and running around the house by the time you graced her with your presence.
Blinking owlishly, you yawn out a “good morning” and give her a kiss when she presses a warm mug of coffee into your hands.
“Sleep well?” she asks, fingers toying with the ends of your hair.
You hum in response, not missing the way her feet are tapping at the ground around you. The last time she was this full of energy she kept you in bed for nearly an entire day, only letting you out of the room when you finally tapped out, body fully cramped out by all of the pleasure she was happily giving you. But given that you had to be at training in less than an hour, you knew neither of you had time to work out all of her energy.
Rose hasn’t seen much of the field after returning from camp with a bit of a leg problem, so it made sense that she seemed to have so much energy. What didn’t make sense is the way she keeps switching through the songs on your brief drive over to training. Or the way she can’t seem to sit still in the locker room.
Even Megan seems to be taken off guard, throwing her sock at Rose’s forehead the third time your girlfriend runs a lap around everyone as you all change into your workout gear.
“Have you listened to Sammy’s podcast yet?”
Her comment comes just as you trudge onto the field, lightly jogging your warm up.
You shake your head, laughing at the crinkle between her eyebrows. “Babe, I’ve been with you all morning.” You briefly remember your sister telling you something about finally being invited onto your friends’ podcast, but to be honest you hadn’t really planned on listening to her episode until later in the week during your free time. Obviously you wouldn’t plan on skipping it, but the two of you had your own lives, not everything you did had to revolve around each other.
Before you can ask Rose about her question, Sonnett’s crashing your solitude, throwing an arm around each of your shoulders. “How are my favorite midfielders on this fine April day?”
“Don’t let Lindsey hear you say that,” you snort, shrugging the blonde’s arm off of you.
Sonnett looks like she’s about to say something else, but a quick elbow into her gut by Rose quickly shuts her up. You frown, tilting your head in question at your girlfriend, but she pretends not to notice, starting on a random tangent.
You don’t have a chance to question either of them, as Laura’s quick to call in the team and start doling out exercises.
By the time someone else brings up Sam and Lynn’s podcast, you had already forgotten about Rose’s weird behavior.
It’s near the end of practice. Half of the girls were already back inside, getting iced and doing a quick recovery session. You and some of the others had stuck around to help clean up the field before heading their way.
Sofia slinks up next to you, handing you one of the cones on the ground. You give her a nod in thanks, quick to move onto the next cone.
“Did you know you’re dating an evil mastermind?” Sofia chuckles.
You’re not really sure what prompted her to say that, but you can’t help but laugh and give her a grin. “Tell me something I don’t know. Rose is an evil mastermind but at least she’s an evil mastermind who loves me and wouldn’t dare to prank me lest I make her sleep on the couch.”
You love Rose for so many reasons. Like almost too many to count. But that girl was a bit of a monster when it comes to pulling pranks on all of your friends. The couple of years before you officially began dating was a bit rough, you not ever knowing if you would be met with “friend” Rose or “in a pranking mood” Rose every time you saw each other. It’s been three years since, and “girlfriend” Rose was much more likely to treat you to chocolates and flowers than try to pull a quick one on you.
“What a shame her leniency doesn’t extend to the rest of your family.”
When you look at her with a confused face, Sofia’s quick to meet your expression with one of her own. “I’m assuming you haven’t listened to Alex’s Snacks episode yet?”
When you shake your head, she’s quick to pull out her phone. You’re a bit amused to see the episode sitting paused in her Spotify, but she must’ve been listening to it before coming to practice.
Sofia rewinds a little bit, having nearly finished the episode already.
You’re greeted with your sister’s raspy voice as she presses play.
It’s all the typical stuff you were expecting. Some talk about Taylor Swift, Alex’s favorite songs from her album, Rose’s obsession with Taylor Swift conspiracies--
And that’s when you hear it.
“Yeah, but you can’t ever trust what she says. Like do you think she’s telling the truth?”
“Hot take, you can’t trust Rose.”
By the time Alex’s done detailing her run-in with Rose and Sonnett during camp, you’re laughing so hard that you have to wipe tears from your eyes.
It’s often a rarity for you to not be in camp, but you had missed this past one due to a slight injury that’s been healed since. Everyone’s been home for a couple of days now, but this is the first time you’re hearing about any pranks being pulled against Alex.
“Did she actually--” you question, still trying to catch your breath.
Sofia nods, still grinning like crazy. “Alex got a little pouty when she realized they were playing her.”
Sometimes Rose and Alex’s relationship made you want to laugh. When Rose first met your sister she was terrified. Not even dating yet at that point, you had to reassure Rose time and time again that Alex didn’t hate her. And look at them now. Now most times you have to reassure Alex that Rose didn’t have it out to get her.
It’s all done in good spirit, but it looks like you’re going to have to convince Alex not to eye your girlfriend with distrust again the next time you’re all in the same room.
The two of you are still joking about it when you roll into the recovery room.
It’s a bit cute how Rose perks up when she sees you, hands instantly making a grabby motion. Sofia takes one look at the brunette before breaking out into laughter again, pushing you towards your girlfriend before going to the other side of the room.
Rose frowns after the defender, unfortunately still stuck in her compression boots. She opens her mouth to question Sofia, but you press a kiss to her forehead before she can say anything.
Your kiss does its job, pulling Rose’s attention back to you.
Although she looks up at you lovingly, she’s quick to narrow her eyes at the amusement dancing around your face. “Okay, what did Sof tell you.”
“Babe, you and Sonny need to stop tormenting Al.”
“Alex needs tougher skin,” she snorts in response, instantly knowing what you’re referring to.
“She got got!” Sonnett adds, throwing her arms up in celebration.
You roll your eyes in amusement. “Go away, Son.” You turn back to Rose. She’s looking a little smug at successfully fooling your sister again. “Don’t go acting like you weren’t terrified of her when I was introducing you as my girlfriend for the first time.”
“Alex is scary,” Rose nods. But the smirk is quick to come back. “Until she isn’t.”
Sonnett lets out a hoot in agreement, giving Rose a fist bump.
Sometimes you wonder why you’re friends with literal children.
And then you remember that children are fun to fool with too, and it makes everything so much better.
“You know, she’s not wholly convinced that you aren’t dating me as some way to prank her.”
It takes a second for your words to sink in, but when they finally do, Rose is sitting up in alarm. “Wait, what.”
You let out a hum as you stand up to go to your own table.
“That’s a joke, right?” she nervously chuckles, unable to go after you while she still has the boots on.
With your back to her, you don’t have to worry about hiding your grin. All she can see is your shoulders as you shrug, making your way to the other side of the room.
“Babe! That’s a joke, right?!” Rose’s half terrified voice follows after you.
Alex is going to have a field day when you tell her about this later.

Session with Jongin Centric Fic Fest Mods Part 1
Fanfiction preferences may vary, but our love for Jongin is the common thread that binds us! In this episode, we’re diving into the beautiful contrast within fanfiction literature—because different perspectives don’t have to clash; they can coexist and make our fandom experience even richer. Get ready for a fun, thought-provoking ride as we explore how diversity in storytelling brings us closer together!
A very warm welcome to listeners and my guests here today. If you are new here, I am Alexio Sospranio, and you're listening to the kaisoo fic podcast.
These few days we will be celebrating Kai’s military discharge by talking to moderators of the Ultimate Top Kim Jongin and Nini Planet fic fests.
At the point of recording for this episode, Jongin has unfortunately not returned, meaning also that Nini Planet’s postings are already out, but Ultimate Top Kim Jongin’s postings are not out yet.
Part One
What unites the two fests is our most beloved Jongin of course.
The main thing that sets them apart is of course that one fest is top kai and another is bottom nini.
This is going to be a two parter episode, because there is a lot to discover and dive deep into the fic fests these moderators have put time and effort into.
This episode is a two part episode. First part is today, dated the 12th, second part will be on the 14th.
Today on the 12th is the first part where we will discuss how the two Jongin centric fests came to life, how prompts are organised. Managing deadlines, to find that sweet spot in managing expectations and interest of readers and having the writers to have power over their creative freedom.
The second part, on the 14th we will be going through the applications they use, the fests promotion and support from the community and ship statistics.
But as always, before the episode proper, I would like to take some time to introduce the representative moderators for the two fic fests.
First up we have Mod Rose from Ultimate Top Kim Jongin!
Mod Rose has been in this fandom since (late 2016 but only around 2017 stumbled into the ficdom), that's about (9 years?). The pull factor that got her into this fandom was (Jonginie) and (he was told go do an aegyo on a radio show, he said noona buy me chicken and had probably played it 1000 times) when she was (a struggling student). Mod Rose is currently into (naruto shippuden and the song on loop is always sinner by kai).
Welcome Mod Rose, we are pleased to have you on the kaisoo fic podcast! Do you have any opening comments you would like to make?
Well thanks for having me and excited for today!
The pleasure is all mine, i am equally as excited too!
Second guest for today’s episode we have Nini Planet! Neither of the Mods in Nini Planet are on this recording today. Unfortunately, due to schedules being unforgiving for the mods, they are unavailable. But we hope they come next time. For today we have the ever supportive and dedicated Marcus with us to voice over for them today. Marcus will take the persona of both Mod Gommie and Mod Nini.
Mod Gominie has been in this fandom since 2012, that's about 13 years. The pull factor that got her into this fandom was the predebut EXO teasers and Jongin was the first to catch her eye. Mod Gominie’s current obsession is BL manhwa and dramas. The Jongin song that she has been playing on loop recently is Say You Love Me by Kai.
Mod Nini has been in this fandom since 2018, that's over 6 years. The pull factor that got her into this fandom was Jongin and she fell in love with him the moment she saw him in “Call Me Baby.” Mod Nini is still into Jongin’s last album, Rover.
Welcome Mod Gominie and Mod Nini, we are pleased to have you on the kaisoo fic podcast! Do you have any opening comments you would like to make?
Mod Gominie: I’ve never participated in a podcast before so this is all new to me. Thanks for having us!
Mod Nini: Hello! I am happy to be a part of this episode. Though we never really imagined that we will get to share about our fest through a podcast, we will try our best to introduce ourselves and our fest nicely to the listeners.
I think that is the beauty of this podcast. We get to hear from the creatives in the ficdom. From writers to artists to readers to organisers of real life events to moderators like you for fic fests.
And likewise, I will do my best to make everyone’s participation pleasant.
Brace yourselves, this will be a long two episode recording.
Story of the Fest
Let’s just jump straight into the story behind the fest, how did the fic fest come about?
Let’s start with Mod Rose, representing Ultimate Top Kim Jongin in this episode. So dear Rose, what is the story behind the fest? Were there any specific moments during your fic reading days where you decided that, yes this fest must come alive?
In 2017, Top Jongin was a rarity. 2017 was when I officially entered the EXO ficdom, at the time Top Jongin authors and fics were becoming less and less. Soon I discovered fests and one Bottom Kyungsoo fest was posting at the moment. It had some amazing kaisoo fics with some of the best Top Jongin characterization i have seen and it got me thirstier for more Top Jongin.
i decided to make UTKJI fest then for more Top Jongin content! If the mods are by any chance hearing this thanks for the inspiration and for all the support that helped kick our fest successfully! and with that we had our first round in 2019!
That is very encouraging actually. You took matters into your own hands. You wanted something for yourself. You wanted more Top Jongin in a ficdom that at the time had more Bottom Jongin. You bridged the gap of not having enough Top Jongin by being the moderator of this Ultimate Top Kim Jongin fic fest as a solution for this thirst that you had. Doing something for yourself, and it seems evident until now that readers and viewers are very supportive, which shows actually that the work you do, is in service to the Top Jongin community.
What kept the fest going was the amazing support from all followers: authors, artists, prompters and readers. We made ourselves a lovely community and it's always nice to come back despite some of the hardships that come with running a fest!
Thank you Mod Rose for sharing the origin story of the Ultimate Top Kim Jongin fest.
Hearing from Ultimate, I'm eager to know the story behind Nini Planet!
How did you and your team get together, the story behind Nini Planet! What was the starting point or motivation behind curating so diligently the Bottom Nini Fest?
Mod Nini: We felt the same regarding bottom Jongin. Honestly, we cannot prove or disapprove any of our claims, but when we began reading fics at different points of time, we were introduced to top kai first. Both of us. However, we soon realized we wanted different things. Mod Gominie joined the fandom first, so she was well-versed with bottom Jongin by the time I joined the ficdom. In a way, she introduced me to the world of bottom Jongin, and I was eager to be a part of it. We came across many bottom Jongin writers and readers who had similar stories. It was after that that we decided to create this fest, to make sure we each have a platform to share what we have wanted to in all these years.
Prompts
One of the biggest differences that sets the two fests apart is not just the nature of Jongin in ships, but also the fact that Nini Planet generally have set guided prompts and Ultimate Top takes in prompt suggestions from readers.
In 2022, Nini Planet according to your archives it is reflected that you had challenges every month. Specifically for 2022, it seemed like a busy year for you, talk us through the process.
Firstly, when do you decide what type of challenge to do for the month?
Mod Gominie: For our monthly rounds, we decide the theme of our challenges near the end of each month, where we look through the theme suggestions provided by our creators and followers. For some of our longer rounds, we asked the participants to create their stories based on Jongin’s albums. They can take inspiration from lyrics, MV, or Film: Kai.This is either to celebrate Jongin’s birthday or him releasing a new album. We also do special rounds where there’s no theme restriction and creators are free to choose whichever theme they prefer.
It is very comforting to know that Nini Planet looks to their creators and followers in the ficdom. It is important to tap into the ideas of the people who are already in the community to garner support and gain strength.
From there, how do you choose and streamline the type of prompts found in the monthly challenge?
Mod Gominie: For each round, we have a set time–usually one week starting from the second day of sign-ups–to post prompt suggestions from ourselves and our followers. We only choose the prompts that relate to our theme for the month.
For the sake of those who are not familiar with your monthly challenges, could you give us a brief run through on the variety of it from the summer au, youtuber au, collage au. Feel free to talk about as much or as little as you like. You can list the monthly challenges as well.
Mod Gominie: As previously mentioned, we mostly choose the themes from the suggestions submitted by our joiners and followers. This is done near the end of every month. We aim to try out as many themes as we can, whether it’s popular ones like royalty and omegaverse, or less popular ones like YouTube AU and cottagecore. I feel that this is a nice challenge for our writers and artists, especially if they’ve never created something based on these themes before.
And with 2022 being the peak of you constantly engaging with the fest, how different is round 29 from all other monthly challenges?
Mod Gominie: I wouldn’t say our current round (round 29) is much different from our other monthly challenges, as we still provided a theme for our joiners to follow. The only difference is the duration. I believe it’s one of our longest rounds up to date.
Would the longer duration for round 29 be because of Jongin’s military discharge?
Mod Gominie: Yes, we prepared round 29 to celebrate Jongin’s return. We noticed a decline in the number of joiners in 2023, and we felt that Jongin’s absence might be one of the reasons. My co-mod and I have gotten busier with our jobs since then, so we decided to take a hiatus last year and tried to keep our fest active by doing two longer rounds. As mentioned in our announcement before the hiatus, we are planning to officially come back after Jongin’s military discharge.
Talking about prompts, now a question for Mod Rose: for the previous three rounds of Ultimate, when do you decide when to open for prompts?
It honestly depends on when I have time and motivation to start a new round. Once the round’s schedule is decided, we share it with the followers. usually that starts a wave of excitement for the fest and make sure to open Prompting as soon as possible while everyone is in the spirit to share their amazing ideas!
I agree, time and motivation is usually the first push you need to ever start on something. I notice based on your archive that there were actually thematic prompts like Christmas special, New Years special, Jongin’s birthday. So what makes the general round different from the special ones?
Our fest is mainly a general fest, we do main rounds that take months and we focus on making lengthy fics that can have any trope or theme.
The special rounds were just bonus rounds after the main ones or during them, for people who couldn't join the main rounds or for people who were still hyped up by the main round and wanted to do more. Also since we typically do one round every year, it's a lot of waiting so the bonus rounds are like little snacks for our dearest followers until we can do a new one!
I see, the thematic prompts are special bonus rounds. Love that for us, keeping us on our toes and gives us something to enjoy.
And as Nini Planet is known to have thematic prompts, what do you think is the biggest challenge when having to come up with prompts?
Mod Gominie: Definitely sticking to the theme, especially ones that aren’t as popular, like cottagecore. It’s a challenge for us to come up with prompts based on rarer themes but we do our best to give our potential joiners some inspiration.
What I love and I deeply appreciate from your themes Nini Planet, is the creative exploration. Writers when there is a goal to work towards, it is exciting. It is of course a fun challenge to see how writers can really make the prompts their own, adding their own creative flare to it.
Mod Gominie: I agree. That’s part of what makes it so exciting and fun to read over their submissions. As both of us are writers and readers, it is a way of indulging our souls into something new and different. We hope our joiners and readers feel the same way when they go through each other’s works.
As we are talking about prompts, do you have any where you wrecked your brain really hard for but no one took that up? Or a prompt that you wanted to see but it didn't come to life?
Mod Gominie: Yes, there have been, and sometimes we do hope on certain ones. Then again, they are simply there as an inspiration for our potential joiners. In the end, we really enjoyed seeing how our writers and artists worked with the different themes and the amazing fics/fanarts that came out of it. Though sometimes it can be hard to come up with prompts, especially for less popular themes, I think both of us enjoy doing it anyway.
How about you, Mod Rose? From your archive did you have any personal favorites from the prompts itself that you were sad it did not come to life as well?
All of them.
Check-ins and deadlines
We were talking about prompts, now let’s move on to planning for check-ins and deadlines.
Maybe let’s look at thematic prompts first? For time sensitive prompts like Valentine’s Day and New Years and Birthdays, this question is for both of you, how strict are you with deadlines with the authors if or not at all?
Maybe we can have Mod Rose to share for Ultimate first?
So having a special round means we have a much more rigid schedule to post the fics. it's something I am worried about for this round for example because we wish to post during Jongin's long awaited comeback. but we know how life is and how hard writing can get, and I am sure drawing too. so we try our best to give as much as possible extensions and honestly our participants are mostly so good at keeping up with it!
for normal rounds we might extend it another month if that's what the majority need. We know some pressure is good for motivation but too much might ruin their creativity.
We are very excited for Jongin’s long awaited comeback indeed. Of course, it is always a juggle to find that balance of pushing the artist and writers and sticking to the appropriate deadline.
And how about you Nini Planet , how are things run on the Planet?
Mod Gominie: Just like other themes, we try to be flexible with deadlines for time sensitive themes as well. Life happens, and we would rather have creators feel excited about participating than stressed about submitting on time. If a creator needs an extension, we encourage them to submit their work three days after the deadline. In general, we lean towards a “soft deadline” approach, having an exact date but letting joiners know it’s okay if they wish to drop out or need more time.
Soft deadline approach, that gives the writers a checkpoint in a way. Realistic and supportive.
And for prompts, Nini Planet, what is your time frame like?
Mod Gominie: Our time frame is slightly different depending on the duration of our rounds. For our monthly rounds, we have the first week of the month for sign-ups, the second and third week for creating, and the final week for posting/guess who/reveals. For rounds that are two or three months long, we still have the first week for sign-ups.
I see, it depends on the duration of the rounds. That’s very practical.
What about for Ultimate, you are more or less free and easy with the prompts, but there of course must be some deadlines for authors to meet. How do you gauge planning for the overall timeline?
We tried long rounds like 6 months and shorter ones like one month and we found the sweet spot is something more in the middle. 4 months is for most people the best, a month to kick off the fest, gather prompts and sign up, two and a half for the writing/drawing with a check in in the middle and around two weeks for final submissions and extensions. it's not too long that participants lose interest in their work and not too short that's impossible to finish on time.
Knowing when the sweet spot is, it reflects just how long you've been at this and how you have grown with it too.
Vetting Content
I am aware there are guidelines and rules to abide by specifically for Nini Planet. Could you talk a bit about that? What are strictly banned tags and characters that are refrained from being used?
Mod Nini: The most necessary ones like non-con, bestiality, pedophilia, and incest are strictly banned. Any fic containing these content, whether in the characters’ past, present, or future, is immediately rejected by us. Tags like dub-con, when properly explained, are accepted; character death or violence require appropriate warnings, the same as dub-con. If the warnings or tags are not properly marked, we inform the writer or reject the story altogether. We allow Jongin pairings outside EXO fandom, however, pairings such as kriskai and lukai are strictly banned, whether as the main, side, or past pairing. They are not allowed to be mentioned in the stories either.
I understand, it is important to set boundaries and rules.
And for Ultimate, how is your moderation like, if any?
well we do have hard rules against non con and pedophilia for example, bestiality etc. those are stated in every round. the fic should be Jongin centered, he cant just be a secondary character and obviously only Top Jongin is accepted (or what's the point of the fest you know) but mostly we are open to everything as long as it is not harmful or any of the mentioned above. and writers have to be careful and responsible with their tagging.
With these rules laid out, encouraged guides for authors to follow, for the both of you, how do you vett fics?
We can have Nini Planet share their ways first:
Mod Nini: Either one of us has to go through the story at least once before accepting it. Sometimes, because of lack of time, we only have time enough to skim through the stories, the characters, the plots, and the tags. If we find anything objectionable, we immediately contact the writer through whatever medium they have shared with us. Until we get confirmation or the writer makes the necessary changes, we do not accept the story.
And how similar or different are the workings in Ultimate?
Pretty similar to Nini Planet actually. Well, checking fics before posting is honestly my least favorite part of the fest for no other reason than it's me spoiling all the fics, I awaited for months for myself, by having to check all of them in a short time span lmao
but yeah i go over them and check and read before posting. If there is any problem we contact the author and talk about it. if the fic breaks one of the hard rules it's instantly rejected. we don't contact them or anything. That thankfully happened only one time, where it was a very traumatizing experience tbh, the fic was literally non con and it was rejected.
and yeah some regular authors have our trust, we merely skim over their work and we know they are very responsible!
Oh dear… non con is scary… thank you for rejecting that fic, it would have been traumatising for readers… but you unfortunately had to go through that for us. And we thank you for your service.
Ending Ment
This is actually the end of the first of two episodes for the month.
We started this episode with the story behind the fic fests, the two different types of prompts the two fic fests have. Their different ways on how Nini Planet mods support writers in giving guided prompts and Ultimate Top Kim Jongin pushes for deadlines, enough for excitement from readers and passion for their creative freedom by writers. How these two fests vett through the fics, be it skimming though and spoiling themselves for the fics they were most excited for.
Now mods, let’s take a pause here before diving into the creative aspects and promotions of the fests and support from writers and readers alike. Second part will be uploaded on the 14th!
To reach me I am kaisooficdrunk on twitter, and if you want you can drop me questions on my neospring with the same username. There will also be another link that brings you to my tumblr blog with the transcription for today's episode. There you can also find the other scripts for other episodes as well.
Thank you for listening, have a good day, dear kaisooist, and we look forward to tomorrow's tomorrow's episode. Stay tuned.

Podcast episode discussing DS9 "Past Tense" & "Far Beyond the Stars"!
My friend Laura invited me onto their podcast to unpack Deep Space Nine episodes 3x11 & 12: "Past Tense" and 6x13: "Far Beyond the Stars," using them for a broader discussion on the role of science fiction in dreaming better futures into reality.
In our conversation, we:
compare the 2024 of "Past Tense" to our 2024
share our theories about historical events that may have inspired both episodes, as well as their relationship to other works of speculative/science fiction
point out and offer revisions for parts of "Past Tense" that somewhat undercut the story's intended messages about the evils of capitalism, ableism, police / military violence, and anti-homeless laws
gush about the artistry of the filming and acting in "Far Beyond" (Avery Brooks monologues my beloved)
and more — with a dash of humor as we go!
Give "Sanctified Imagination Far Beyond the Stars" a listen wherever you get podcasts — or read along with the transcript!
(CW: Christianity) — please do go in forewarned that Laura's Autistic Liberation Theology podcast centers around reinterpreting the Bible from a trans & disabled lens. If you skip to 44 minutes in you'll miss most of the religious commentary, except for when it makes sense to bring it up re: Joseph Sisko's 1950s incarnation as a street preacher.
If you are interested the full episode, some of the places we go in our winding conversation are:
Womanist midrash & sanctified imagination, which enact this call to imagine possibilities for the oppressed — to "make a way out of no way"
How Jesus's use of parables to teach about his envisioned "Kingdom of God" —where there's access for all, oppressors reformed and oppressed liberated, all needs met and all gifts celebrated — invites people to engage their sanctified imaginations to join in the work for a more just world, here and now
AutScape's & Crip Camp’s modeled possibilities for a fully accessible, disability-centered world
various directors / show writers who, through writing, discovered something new about themselves (think the Wachowski sisters & The Matrix, Dan Harmon and Community)
If you give it a listen (or read), I'd love to hear what you think! Did you connect with the concept of imagining better futures into reality? Any other Star Trek episodes you think encapsulate that well?
____
Transcript of the above audio clip:
Avery: I definitely think the writers of this episode were thinking about how When Deep Space Nine was coming out, people's response to seeing Sisko was, Yeah, is, you can't have a black space captain. A black man can't be the hero of Star Trek!
Which just shows, like, for the viewers, like, Yeah, we've come a long ways here in the 90s. But we still think it's ridiculous to imagine a black space captain and it's only just becoming possible now.
Laura: yeah the um, , editor of the magazine says "put it in a drawer for like a couple of decades and might be--" it's like, yeah, that's
Avery: Yeah.
Laura: inside joke.
Avery: At the end, when, um, Benny Russell breaks down after being fired and everything, the street preacher comes back and, Benny says, "Tell me, please, who am I?"
Don't you know?" "Tell me." "You're the dreamer and the dream."
Laura: ah, this is so amazing.
Avery: And, like, yeah, that fits on so many different layers with, uh, Benny Russell is dreaming Sisko and dreaming Deep Space nine, and also Sisko is dreaming him, and also breaking the fourth wall,
Laura: yeah, because they're, neither of them are real, they're both fiction and yet they're, yeah. real.
Avery: Yeah. Yeah. Breaking the fourth wall, the writers and Avery Brooks are the dreamers, and the dream. This is, this is what, people have been dreaming of, this even the possibility of this. And they're making it true.
Laura: and at the end, you see him looking out the window and seeing Benny Russell in the reflection of the glass and
Avery: it's such a good shot. It's so good. It like gives me chills
Laura: you Have to cast something into the space you're not there yet to-- that becomes you.

fic: beautiful oblivion (part three)

A/N: happy holiday time to everyone. I hope you all enjoy this next part. Shout out to @poppyfamily and @shesmore-shoebill for all the support and input on this fic.
She wasn’t hiding. In fact, all she’d done was go back to her own desk, nursing a bottle of water and the beginnings of a migraine. She wasn’t mad. She knew Amanda was in her own way trying to make Courtney happy. And yes, she wasn’t opposed to the scheme of making Shayne their third, but Amanda hadn’t helped that cause. Quite the opposite. She’d almost scared the man away.
“Hey, Court.” Amanda was maybe the softest-spoken Courtney had ever heard her, her hands in her pockets, her footsteps hesitant. Everyone else was at lunch, so they were alone in their little corner for now. Thank God.
“Hey.” Courtney watched as Amanda sat down at her own desk, parallel to Courtney’s, and then slid her chair back so they could be face to face.
“I’m sorry.” Amanda leaned forward, one hand reaching out to brush Courtney’s hair behind one ear.
Courtney nuzzled right into her touch, eyes closing. “You’re forgiven. I should’ve expected you to be this intense about it.”
Amanda laughed, but it was quiet and resigned. Yeah, the carriage kind of always came before the horse for her. “I just…I love you…”
She had more to say, but the way Courtney’s eyes popped back open, and her head turned and her whole body froze made Amanda stop, too.
“What?”
Courtney blinked. “Sorry. Just run that by me again.”
Amanda smiled big, honestly taken aback that Courtney didn’t know. “I love you. Is that not obvious?”
“I mean, I guess so.” Courtney demurred, her eyes losing Amanda’s.
“Stop that.” Amanda scolded. “I love you. And I’d give you anything you ask for. Besides, I can tell you and Shayne aren’t over each other. I want to help.”
Amanda paused, her gaze scanning Courtney intensely. “I don’t want you to deny yourself anything on account of me.”
Courtney leaned in even closer, her lips brushing Amanda’s, her hands finding purchase along the arm rests on Amanda’s chair to effectively tug her in even more. “I love you, too. Even though I think you’re insane.”
“Thanks.” Amanda replied, giggling.
“Nothing happens without you.” Courtney had already explained this the night before and now she was realizing that was the reason Amanda had dove in headfirst. “You and I are a team.”
“I know, honey.”
“Also? Maybe just follow my lead.”
Another laugh. “You got it.”
__
TWO DAYS LATER
Courtney knew what she had to do. Or at least, she knew what she could do. Amanda and Shayne were at their most natural together on Smosh Mouth. They were such different people, but the podcast had shown them their commonalities in a way that made it clear they were more compatible than they – or probably anyone else – thought. They could launch into a conversation about literally anything at any given moment. They never talked over or insulted each other. They listened and they learned, and they were willing. It was all Courtney needed for her plan to formulate. She knew it needed to happen on the podcast set, where the chemistry between Shayne and Amanda was freely flowing. Where neither of them would have the chance to overthink – particularly Shayne.
She’d known Shayne for a long time, and she was privy enough to his tells to know that he was smitten with Amanda just like Courtney was. Maybe not as deeply – yet – but he was certainly fixated. His gaze always lingered on Amanda a little too long; she made him laugh the loudest and the hardest of anyone (and yes Courtney understood how easy that was but regardless). Every time he read a book or played a game or watched a show, he went on and on about how Amanda would love it. And he was giddy as hell every time he showed her something and she ended up loving it.
The plan was simple: that day, they were filming another ‘Advice’ episode of the podcast. It was perfect. And Josh could just edit out whatever. The Smosh editors were notorious for leaving them all to look stupid as hell. Thankfully, this was a far more sensitive topic, so she knew Josh would take pity on her.
She shot him a look as she strolled onto the set, anyway. He didn’t know what the look meant yet, but he would. She ran a hand along the back of Amanda’s chair on the way to her own, making momentary and intense eye contact. Amanda smiled that gorgeous, dimpled smile at her and she nearly melted into a pile of goo. She needed to get her shit together. Losing her mind over Amanda on camera wasn’t anything new, but she couldn’t afford distraction right now. She took a deep breath as she sat down in front of the mic, her gaze clicking over toward Shayne. He grinned at her, too, and her heart did that dumb fluttery thing it always did around Shayne.
Well, shit.
“Hi.” It was hard to be casual. They both looked so fucking good. Shayne was wearing one of his big flannels over a white t-shirt, his blonde hair an adorable mess, his beard immaculate. His blue eyes were sparkling at her, and Courtney couldn’t breathe.
“Hey.” He chuckled, his eyes lighting up so bright they were dazzling.
Looking at Amanda made her condition worse. She was watching them knowingly, her expression reading adoration that was worsening Courtney’s quiet frenzy. Affection burst inside her toward her lover. Her mind wanted to fling her back into memories of their nights together, but Courtney forcibly smothered it. Those images were not something Courtney was equipped to deal with without wanting to climb Amanda like a tree in front of Shayne.
Actually, that probably would’ve solved all their “problems”, but still. The crew did not need to see that.
“So, what brings you into our office today, Court?” Amanda leaned further into the microphone,
“Well.” Courtney began, eyes flicking between the objects of her affections. “I have these two friends, right. And they are like, so into each other it’s crazy. The problem is, they’re both too dumb to say anything. So, I guess the question is, how do I get them to spit it the hell out so they can be happy?”
She made pointed eye contact with Amanda, who didn’t flinch. Courtney knew this was where they needed to start. She herself was the common denominator between Shayne and Amanda. The feelings for her were there, and clear. If anything was going to happen between the three of them, Courtney knew she had to bring Shayne and Amanda to a place where the spark between them became something steady and real.
“Ohh.” Amanda said. “This is the kind of stuff I like. But I guess my first question is, how sure are you that they’re into each other?”
“Yeah.” Shayne jumped in. “Have they actually told you that’s what’s up? Or are you just assuming?”
Ugh. They were both so annoying.
“I’m very sure.” Courtney replied, once again trying to say most of what she had to with her eyes. Blurting it out for the whole room to hear wasn’t the best idea. “They text each other every single day. And they’re always bringing each other up in conversation.”
Even after I eat her out. Courtney added mentally, smothering a laugh.
“Friends can do that, Courtney.” Shayne said.
“Yes, of course, but this is different. I know my female friend is into this dude. She’s always saying how attractive she finds certain qualities about him. And he’s a dumb ass who can’t take a hint, but I know he likes her, too. He’s always sending her TikToks and recommending stuff he knows she would love and bringing her gifts. I know for a fact that’s something he does when he’s crushing.”
She stared at Shayne intensely, and something seemed to cross his face. Maybe he hadn’t fully caught it yet, but he was getting there.
“I think the solution is just to sit them both down and make them communicate if you’re this sure.” Amanda offered. “I don’t condone getting this involved in someone else’s relationship, but if you’re close with both of them…”
“Yeah. Yeah. Super close.” Courtney said with a raise of both eyebrows. “And you’re right. I think I need to be the middle man here because they’re both being oblivious.”
She looked between them again and went silent as they looked at each other.
“Okay, well, pretend me and Shayne are these friends. What would you say to them?” Amanda’s smile hid in the corner of her lips.
Yeah. Courtney loved her.
“I would say that I love them both and I’m tired of watching them dance around each other. I would tell them that none of it changes how I feel about either of them. They’re safe to say it. I’m here to help them navigate in whatever way they want me to.”
Shayne’s eyes widened. Had he realized yet that Courtney was perfectly describing him and Amanda, no matter how vague she had to make it for the other people in the room? “I think that’s a good, healthy way to go about it.” Shayne said, arms crossing over his chest. “You should do that.”
“I agree.” Amanda was smiling bigger. “It can’t hurt to show that you care.”
Courtney splayed her hands on the table, satisfied that she’d accomplished the hardest part of her plan: throwing the ball into Amanda and Shayne’s court. So to speak. “Thank you, guys. I’ll try it.”
“Please do.” Amanda looked over at Shayne. He was still a little pale. “You all right with that, Shayne?”
“Yeah. Definitely.” He put on the falsest bravado Courtney had ever seen, but at least he was there mentally. He knew now and that was all Courtney needed.
The operation was a go.
--
Shayne wasn’t angry. In all fairness, he couldn’t be angry. Courtney was doing what she thought would help them all. Besides, she was right. He was dancing around Amanda. Every day, it got harder and harder to handle. He felt so much toward and about Amanda, it was increasingly harder to sift through. His stomach was in knots around her; his heart always jumping around like it wanted her to know. The strangest thing about it was that it wasn’t the cause of nerves. In fact, he felt more comfortable around Amanda than he did around anyone not named Courtney. He didn’t know what Amanda’s sorcery was, but she made his whole being calm. He couldn’t be jealous or angry or insecure around Amanda. He understood why Courtney chose her. Amanda’s magnetism was off the charts. There were no boundaries with Amanda, and certainly no filter. They talked about any and everything.
Almost any and everything.
The crew had left the room. They’d quickly moved into ‘next video’ mode. The podcast set was quiet for the moment. They didn’t have to shoot on this stage anymore for the day. Shayne thanked whatever deity existed for that because there was no way he could talk about this with an audience around. Jokes were one thing. The very real possibility that he and Courtney were both falling for Amanda was something else.
Amanda was staring at him from the other side of the table, her soft eyes trying to gauge a reaction. Her expression was even softer, her lips turning up into a reassuring smile. Courtney was gone from the room, too. She’d left them to be alone in this, and Shayne was surprised his breath was coming so easy. Then again, maybe he wasn’t because it was Amanda’s voodoo, after all.
“You okay?” Amanda asked, her voice quiet.
Shayne smiled at her, his hands knotting together on the table. “I think so.”
“Is Court right?” That question was a little quieter, Amanda’s eyes losing Shayne’s.
Was that…insecurity?
“You know I care about you.”
“Yeah of course. Duh.” Amanda scoffed. “I’m talking about…”
“I know. I know.” Shayne inhaled deeply, his heart suddenly doing so much in his chest. “She is right.”
“Really?!” Amanda’s surprise widened her pretty eyes.
Shayne laughed. He couldn’t help it. “I mean, yeah. You and I…we kind of just click, don’t we?”
“Yeah!” She said, maybe a little too enthusiastically. “Sorry.”
“I guess Courtney’s pretty good at reading us.”
“I’d say.” Amanda giggled. “The choice is still yours, though, Shayne.”
Now he was starting to understand just what Courtney and Amanda were up to. They wanted him, and it was a little insane and maybe a bit bewildering.
“It would take a lot of communicating.” He said, his psychology side coming out automatically.
“We know.” Amanda grinned. “And we don’t want to pressure you.”
He told himself to keep breathing, but God, his heart was going bonkers, jumping around in his chest like it wanted to launch itself at Amanda. He wondered what it would show her, honestly. “Can I have some time to think about it?”
Amanda immediately leaned back in her chair. “Of course. Of course.”
“Thank you.”
He didn’t think he would have to contemplate it for too long. The two women he cared about most cared about him just as much. And wanted him just as badly as he found himself wanting them. Sure, there was a chance it wouldn’t quite work, but…
Amanda stood up. “Any time, Shayne. You know where to find us.”
She left him with an affectionate squeeze at his shoulder.
He found himself following her all the way out of the room with his eyes.

Angela could admit that she wasn’t very observant. Hell, half the time, she refused to wear her eyeglasses, so how the fuck was she supposed to see, let alone pick out little differences in facial expressions or whatever else. Arasha was the opposite. She was far too observant, to the point of being a little nosy. Okay. Very nosy, but Angela usually loved that about her, because it led to weird and hilarious stories about Arasha’s family or her close friends or random acquaintances. Not this week. This week, all of her observations were about their coworkers. Most importantly, their closest coworkers.
“I’m telling you, Ang, there’s something going on with Shayne and Court and Amanda.” Arasha was whispering it to her at their favorite lunch spot. They’d decided to make a kind of date out of it instead of staying in catering with their crew and everyone else.
Angela did not think this would be the topic of their conversation.
“Well, yeah, Court and Amanda are dating.” She said matter of factly even as she laughed herself through the sentence.
“I know that.” Arasha gave an eye roll. “I’m saying that they’ve both been acting weird with Shayne. Or haven’t you noticed?”
“Nope, I haven’t.” Angela had another thought. “Wait a minute. Is this why you wanted to eat lunch outside of the studio?”
“Yes!” Arasha said it like it was obvious. “They’re being weird! And I want the tea!”
Angela made a face in her attempt to hold back a laugh. She loved Arasha dearly, but Jesus Christ. “I do not have any tea. Amanda seems fine to me.”
“There is something going on.” Arasha repeated. “And I think we can get to the bottom of it this weekend.”
Angela’s brow furrowed. “This weekend?”
“At our pitch party! Please don’t tell me you forgot.”
Angela had definitely forgotten. Not because the pitch party thing was a bad idea – in fact, she thought it was a great idea. They were all more productive when they were wine drunk. It was just the truth. No, she’d forgotten because Arasha had decided to throw the party a month ago, and they’d just recently found a day that was good for everyone.
“No. I didn’t forget.” Angela said, waving a hand. “What’s your plan?”
“It’s very simple, Ang: Wine.”
Yeah.
It was really that simple.

I deleted that. It was stupid and I don't mean it that way and I have never wished anything bad for him. I think he's a decent guy who has mentored a lot of people and is a good friend to many more.
On the other hand my intellect abhors the academic part. It really offends me on a deep level. But the personal part, the human part, thinks about him a lot. I wrote him an email, not yet sent, but in it suddenly I was just talking to him like I'd known him all my life. But I do feel like I know him from studying him so closely. After one podcast where he talked about his son I couldn't write for like a week. It weighed on both of us. I didn't hate him. Neither of us ever did.
I didn't mean him, personally, but I do mean we kicked out the whole foundation of Beatles' historiography and we've got serious cleanup to do. We can't leave everything just lying there in ruins. Do you know how many books cite Lewisohn as a source? Like, ALL OF THEM. (That's only slight hyperbole.)
And that's what has brought me back to deal with this. That was always the draw for me. Taking that seriously.
My dream is every Beatles Con with a booth or two uploading Beatles' treasures to the web. My dream is books and magazines and ticket stubs popping up online and Beatles scholarship changing and growing in ways we can't even imagine, all accomplished while the conference goes on. And as far as where it will be uploaded to, my dream—(since we're on the subject)—is a Beatles' archive accessible to anyone with an internet connection—and I'm sure Paul McCartney would fund the hell out of it. But until then archive.org exists, is awesome, and made our work possible. (And makes all my work possible.)
This has been a hit to the whole community and a serious hit to Beatles' historiography, but it can be an opportunity as well. Peter Jackson got a lot of Beatles' scholars and fans licking their chops about what could be, created a lot of new fans and showed how much life there still was left. Showed us, really, that we were just getting started. It built new connections, got people talking and thinking and exchanging records. It also made me a fan of Robert Rodriguez (SATB) who cannot stop talking about Beatles' scholarship either. He is intensely focused on it.
I wrote “History cannot be hoarded,” but I want to be clear, I don't think that's what's happening. Not in the Beatles community as a whole. But it is siloed, and that's an obvious problem. Thankfully it's one with the easiest solution on earth. It's one we know how to solve with scanners.
It has been my experience that Beatles' fans will share anything you ask for, no questions asked. Early on listening to the Nagras I suddenly needed to know—just absolutely had to know—what Doug Sulpy had written about this particular day and I put out an SOS tweet saying
I desperately need to see what Sulpy wrote about January 14th 🙏🙏
but unfortunately like only two of my followers happened to be Beatles' fans back then. Within an hour and a half Joe Wisely of Beatles Books had DM'd me the pages.

*I would have screenshotted the tweet but unfortunately Musk has destroyed one of the best things about Twitter: the accessible record it provided.
Anyway, from now on I will always separate the man from the work. I stand humbled on that front and don't know what in the hell I was thinking.

James' opinions on the other creeps/proxies p.1
"Toby, hm? He's alright. It took some time for him to open up a bit and actually indulge in conversations but I appreciate him nevertheless....However it is quite unfortunate how much of a trained guard dog he is though, for the Slenderman I mean.....Barking and biting at anything, almost as if the entire world were a threat to him......But I've seen more sides of him, he can be very pleasant to be around. Sometimes he just talks about the most random things but I like that, it makes me smile.....I do hope that he'll get better and that he'll start to actually start to live and not just survive. Oh well, he'll eventually figure things out on his own, the only thing I can do is to stay beside him."
"Jack is actually a very sweet and kind soul, it was quite the surprise to be completely honest. We talk a lot about life, art and books, he's like a lost shard of my soul in a way.....I like being around him, he makes me feel comfortable."
"Oh, that girl? Natalie is alright, a bit stubborn and quiet but very nice once you talk more. I like her drawings, they interest me.....She hangs a lot around Nina and Toby, right? Well I guess I like her, she seems nice.....Tough young woman, that's for sure..."
"Nina is like a beaming ball of sunshine from what I know and I appreciate her for that. She often just talks to me about all kinds of things and I actively listen to what she is saying.......Like listening to a podcast......Oh, and her sense of fashion is absolutely gorgeous."
".....Hm....Well, we don't talk a lot, Kate and me I mean. But Nina often rambles on and on about her.....Maybe she's into Kate..?....Well, in any way, she doesn't talk much and neither do I but I never had any bad experiences with her."
"Oh, Sally! Yeah, she's a sweet girl but oh god, she has some really bad temper management issues. It's fascinating how much rage and despise is stored inside such a young soul......Scary in some way.......But we get along great, we also live in the same territory of the woods. She's like a little sister to me."
"Brian and Tim...?......Oh those two proxies...I haven't talked to them all that much but they seem okay. Toby sometimes talks about them, annoyed how they act so 'authoritarian'.......But, isn't the Slenderman more authoritarian than Brian and Tim? So why does Toby do whatever it makes him do yet gets all pissy when his two colleagues need something from him?.....Weird...."

I don't have a lot of thoughts on Jet after the "Clean break" but I have a whole bunch of feelings.
Junoverse doesn't strike me right into my heart, doesn't hurt no matter what is happening there, unlike some other podcasts, and is very entertaining. In other words, I really enjoy listening to it, it's nice having a safe story like that.
But it also means a lot of things just fly past me unless I stop and consider what I've just listened to. Maybe it's because I'm binging and most of it is while working, so I don't have my full focus on it. I generally grasp the essence of what's going on but not the details, and the details matter.
Luckily I've listened to Clean Break on my day off. So... I need to untangle this mess in my mind but oh my is Jet the character ever. He's probably the only one in junoverse who made me feel so much and more... personally, I guess.
First of all, I admire how masterfully the script is written and acted. Because Jet wasn't exactly the most prominent character before, and we went a bunch of episodes without him at all. "The Tools of Rust" was enjoyable to me (maybe more than I realized because that episode made me type a few posts) but I didn't care for Jet all THAT much. In other episodes his screen time is relatively modest, and I liked him overall but was mostly neutral and didn't think much of him. Was worried for him when they were getting the curemother orime tho.
AND YET the creators made sure that the whole situation in the Clean Break would MATTER to the listeners. That we WOULD care for Jet just as much as Buddy and Juno. That the major issue for the Aurinko family's jailbreak consisting of one person wouldn't just seem like a waste of time and a lot of fuss out of nothing.
When Vespa relayed the situation - that they CAN get out just fine if they leave Jet (who seemed to want that himself atm) or try to get him and end up in this jail forever, - I internally screamed "IS THIS EVEN A CHOICE GO GET HIM N O W". There was litelerally no other option, and that was a fact. So of course they decided so, but the fact that I as a listener felt the same flame inside? Great job.
To me the breaking point was Rita's 4Ever Love minute. I guess because there Jet didn't have to battle anything - neither any outer forces nor his inner demons, - and was just relaxed, comfortable and caring. People often say to know someone you need to see them in trouble, and this is true in a way... although there are counterpoints as well... but to me it's important to see the person when they're at their most relaxed, when they feel safe and just let themselves unfurl their self. That's when I can really connect to them.
And that's what that episode was. I already adored Rita (since season 1 actually), maybe exactly because she lets herself be her unapologetic self very often, and it's beautiful, - but this was the first time when I witnessed Jet just enjoying himself. He clearly adores Rita, too, so helping her while having crazy fun adventures looked like a really fun day to him too, no less so than to Rita. This episode showed me that he isn't just a stoic person with some inner battles and a great sense of humor, but he actually likes having crazy adventures, he has fun this way! It's like he let that part of his past self free that time, and felt generally more relaxed and free. I think he may be overdoing his self control a bit usually, actually... And the whole aroce thing going on that episode helped too of course. *waves in aroace spec*
Anyway, that episode shifted my perception of him enough to make him one of my 3 fave characters of the whole show, and he feels to me probably more like an actual living person than any of them. So of fucking course I was invested by the Clean Break and felt furious when his upcoming execution was revealed.
But I didn't understand all the implications of the way he was being contained in his cell. The only way I came across an addition was my grandfather and trust me I spit this word with all the disgust I have in me, and that was enough to be allergic to any kind of it. Unfortunately it turned out one can be addicted to people and relationship patterns too, so working on that yeah, but anyway, the point is - I can only somewhat understand it. Juno's input was helpful, but only when I've read some posts here (short and emotional, not very informative, but I think that was exactly what did it) I've started to come to the realization.
And it's... horrifying. I think I've realized like 1/100 of the pit Jet was in back there, and even this makes some feelings stir inside. The jail system was cruel as is, but to use Jet's addiction he has beaten once against him, to use him as an exacution example while it wasn't even him - I mean yes his past self is him too, like a person driven into a corner and pumped up with potent agression inducing drugs is the same person, only driven into a corner and pumped up with drugs, - that was something else. I hope Jet's treated properly after this and Buddy won't spare him from her therapy sessions, because to beat your own weaknesses and demons once just to be broken like this, to be bought to your lowest against your will and endure this for months... ugh. Yeah. That's. Yeah.
I need all the comfort for Jet 💔

hi lea RELEASE THE OAKWORTHY TAPES bye lea
(also what’s aasimar’s and aunties???? :o)
HI OK THE TAPES. also tagging @hermanunworthy cause i know you asked too :3
(slightly edited because i was completely incoherent when i sent this originally it was like 2 am)
so basically hermie is doing some fuckass shit, poking fun at normal and his teeny obsession or quoting the joker or something. doing classic hermie things. maybe even flirting w scary (which is canon now??? god i need money to listen to sophomore slump)
and normal just grabs hermie by the jacket and pulls him (way) down and kisses him (bc in my mind hermie is a lot taller than short king normal and it’s adorable - my favorite oakworthy pose to draw is herm using norm as an armrest i literally eat that height difference dynamic for breakfast lunch and dinner)
and it’s like. objectively the most awkward kiss ever and god it’s not good. neither of them have done this before but i mean when the voices compel you… but anyway normal lets hermie go and hermie is just windows bluescreening and like. incapable of moving. and normals really giddy now like hehehe ive wanted to do that for so long and it finally shut you up! maybe that means im getting to you with this whole teeny thing!!
and hermies just like. “that wasn’t in the script.” (i have literally imagined him saying that in EVERY kiss scenario i dream up to fall asleep to) and his face is RED bro and normals face is RED bro and they’re both like really awkward about it, but later they’re just like yeah no that was kind of a long time coming. because they are the mutual pining trope to ME!!! but also they both completely freeze up at acts of affection and normal gets super giddy every time and hermie secretly really likes riling him about it and AAAAAHH ANTHONY WHY DK YOU HATE ME
so yeah i got possessed and sent this to my poor friend who knows like. hardly any dndads <3
edit: forgot to add my delirious artists rendition:

—
AASIMARS AND AUNTIES!!! MY BELOVED!!!!! so basically it’s a season 3/au thing! starring aunts from the podcast (either literally or because the vibe fits) who have to fix heaven after willy fucks it up. honestly the plot is not really fleshed out yet but eh. so it’s casey wilson, mark likely, and birdie oak for the canonical aunts, and ellory and erin o’niel for the “yeah they have that vibe” aunts!! also shaderin is canon <3
anaunts is the delusional depressed mind child of me, @thedndgoblinwholivesinyourwalls, and @koymoa !! :D
#I AM RUNNING AROUND AND BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS THIS PODCAST MAKES ME FERAL#OAKWORTHY SAVE MEEEEEEE#augh yeah that’s the tapes hehe i really want them to kiss <3#also ANAUNTS MY BELOVED YAYYYY#ask#giraffeskull#dndads#aasimars and aunties#oakworthy

hardlaunching the yandere cartman masterpost
cartman genuinely, hand to god, believes that stan is in a relationship with kyle to spite him specifically. he believes that he did something in preschool that pissed stan off, and for that, stan is now committed to fucking cartman over by dating, then proposing to, then marrying, then having children with kyle
one time while drunker than he’s ever been in his life he pulls stan aside to confront him, begging him to admit to this longcon. stan is so confused and has no idea what the hell he’s talking about. this drives cartman up a wall because he is allergic to seeing reason.
stan also (much like kyle) can’t process cartman being in love with and psychosexualy obsessed with kyle because it is way too weird and fucked up for him. it makes him VISCERALLY uncomfortable and he is constantly begging kyle to just get a restraining order, which kyle can’t do, because his livelihood is literally tied up in having public arguments with this guy for money
needless to say, stan and kyle’s relationship (or, to him, “relationship”) makes cartman feel insane levels of rage. he usually just takes this out on stan and kyle in the normal ways, but there have been multiple times where he has tried to murder stan in earnest
his entire life, cartman believes that he Can get stan and kyle to break up, there’s just something he hasn’t figured out yet. he kind of believes that if he succeeds in one of his stan murder attempts that this will woo kyle. for some reason.
one of the stan murder attempts ends like this: cartman is all giddy right before going on the pod that day because he is certain that his most recent attempt worked, so he’s anticipating kyle showing up sobbing, inconsolable because his boyfriend just died of eating poisoned food. instead, kyle shows up perfectly fine and normal. cartman is already mad about this, but it gets worse when kyle offhandedly mentions that a fan sent him and stan and cake, but he says that it “looked like dogshit” so neither of them ate. now cartman is mad about TWO things.
“well you’re WRONG. the cake DIDN’T look like shit. WHATEVER it looked like. and i bet it was a GOOD fucking cake. i’m sure whoever made it put a LOT of effort in and filled it with LOVE and absolutely ZERO arsenic.”
cartman was not invited to their wedding. he still came. kyle factored this into his wedding planning because kyle factored every possible outcome into his wedding planning
kyle paid cartman off to make sure that he didn’t object.
“FINE. HERE’S $600. NO OBJECTIONS CARTMAN. DON’T RUIN MY FUCKING WEDDING THAT I DIDN’T EVEN INVITE YOU TO.”
once the cartman issue is dealt with, kyle can get back to picking colors and accents for the tablecloths
when cartman sneaks into the wedding he brings cupid me as his plus one because he thinks this may help him to break them up. cupid me is just thrilled to finally have that date -> cartman forgets about his objection plans because cupid me keeps foiling them by making sure the wedding goes PERFECTLY
the months following the wedding re: cartman’s kyle fixation are so bad that listeners start to kind of PITY him
kyle makes a whole point of referring to stan exclusively as his husband on the podcast like listeners don’t know who stan is. this ENRAGES cartman. he responds to most of kyle’s comments with snappish one word answers and then rants about absolutely nothing over and over again. he’s never been this upset over stan and kyle in his LIFE. it is getting harder and harder to believe that this is stan’s longcon but he still is able to convince himself of this because he’s ridiculously delusional
cartman keeps calling him sobbing begging him to leave kyle, threatening to kill himself, the works. he climbs into their window the night before the wedding to try and convince stan to change his mind
stan: *takes long drag of a cigarette* if you think i’m ever going to actually leave kyle, you’re wrong.
when they have children, cartman is incapable of being a “fun uncle” because he is so horrifically jealous that he just acts evil to the style kids
also, tweet about anna khachiyan’s baby that reminds me of this whole thing:

cartman engages in increasingly cartoonish attempts to murder their babies, such as dangling one of them off a balcony, putting them on one of those moving saws, etc.
he claims it’s a bit. it’s not a bit.
when they have their second child he’s so mad because the only thing harder than getting away with murdering one infant is getting away with murdering more than one infant
he is so so mega furious that the kids aren’t his, again, he believes this is part of stan’s longcon. whenever they exhibit stanisms or whenever he notices just how much they physically resemble stan this increases his rage
the older the kids get the more verbally nasty he is, but he makes fewer attempts on their lives because its harder to get away with
cartman will do fucking anything. but he is unfamiliar with stan and kyle’s game. as in, the fact that they are legitimately in love and that kyle finds cartman repulsive on every single level.
#microceleb au#one sided kyman is always funny as fuck to write about. his delusional ass truly believes that he can pull kyle. kyle who despises him.#ONE SIDED. PSYCHOSEXUAL OBSESSION. CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.

hello in an earlier post you mentioned listening to academic history oriented podcasts. if youre willing, can you please share a few of your favourite podcasts? i'd love to give them a listen. btw i love your blog and i always look forward to seeing your posts on my dashboard !
Ooh, this is such a great question, thanks for asking! And I'm glad you love my blog :)
Most of the history podcasts I listen to regularly are hosted by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, which is affiliated with George Mason University where I used to work until about a month ago. I've been really impressed by their podcasts in terms of content, historical research, and production quality.
Their podcasts are hosted here: https://www.r2studios.org/
The ones I've been following are Your Most Obedient And Humble Servant, which examines letters written by women in the 18th and early 19th centuries, and Worlds Turned Upside Down, which is the "story of the American Revolution as a transatlantic crisis and imperial civil war." I particularly like Your Most Obedient and Humble Servant because I think the format with the letters is really interesting: every episode, the host and a specialist she's invited on for that specific letter read a letter written by a historical woman, usually but not always to a female friend or relative, and then discuss the letter's historical context and its place in the life of its creator and recipient. This is not a podcast you need to listen to chronologically, as they jump around in place and time. Pick whichever letter authors or topics interest you most and start there! If you want to listen to Worlds Turned Upside Down, though, start at the beginning.
Another Rosenzweig Center podcast I want to plug, even though I haven't actually started it yet, is Antisemitism, USA. It's about the history of antisemitism in America and it's written by John Turner and Lincoln Mullen, who are religious history professors at Mason. (Specifically, Dr. Turner is in the religion department but also teaches courses in the history department, and Dr. Mullen is in the history department and focuses on the history of American religion.) I have taken classes with both of them and I cannot say enough good things about them as both historians and people, so check out their podcast. (And I will too! Eventually, lol.)
I am also a fan of the Sunstone Mormon History Podcast, which is hosted by Sunstone, an independent (ie non-church-affiliated) Mormon studies magazine that's been publishing since the 1970s. Unlike the Rosenzweig Center podcasts, neither of the hosts are academics, but I do think they do a solid job with delving into primary sources. It is presented in a roughly chronological order, but it's not as much of a directly linked narrative so I think skipping around based on what topics most interest you is probably fine here (and, in fact, is what I do.)
