“Princess Kate makes secret visit to Strictly Come Dancing studios – and took Charlotte and Louis”

The Princess of Wales watched Strictly stars rehearse yesterday on a secret studio visit — before her children got the chance to be judges.

Kate took her two youngest, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, along with her.

They were allowed to sit in the judges’ chairs and deliver verdicts with scoring paddles for dancers Katya Jones and Neil Jones.

Kate, 41, and the youngsters were then introduced to presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, and got to meet pros including Dianne Buswell and Nadiya Bychkova.

During their two-hour visit, they were shown the costume department, where Louis tried on a small gold crown, and stood on the balcony where the contestants gather above the dance floor at BBC’s Elstree studios.

A source said: “Kate and Charlotte are huge fans of Strictly so they were delighted to be invited.

“Kate took pictures of the children in the judges’ seats. She seemed really relaxed and was all smiles. She was polite, sweet and charming with everyone and made sure Louis didn’t get over-excited.”

"There was a strict security lockdown on set and staff were told not to take any photos.

“The children were especially excited and got dressed up.

"They were thrilled to be on set and to meet their favourite celebrities.”

King Charles, 75, and Queen Camilla, 76, are also big fans, as was the late Queen.

Montell and Jojo - great movie choice, footwork looked good to me, a good strong start to the show

Toyah and Neil - no hip movement at all, nearly fell over in the samba rolls, timing seemed good

Chris and Diane - fast, it looked like he hit all the flicks and kicks, ok retraction and he seemed like he was having a ball and kept his energy up throughout

Tasha and Aljaž - gorgeous, I don't generally speaking like the rhumba but her timing was good, her hips were smooth and well timed

Paul and Karen - another strange concept, hip movement when still, but none when doing the steps, I think his timing was a bit off a few times

Sarah and Vito - a couple of bumpy transitions at the beginning, the rest looked very smooth and beautiful to me (there's something absolutely stunning about a Viennese that is mostly in hold and whirls around the whole floor)

Pete and Jowita - I mean one big mistake at the end there, and a couple of timing issues (also I was uncomfortable with the amount of thrusting but that's not really his fault) he did go for it and his walk was good diagonally with Jowita

JB and Amy - frame was good, covered the floor well, a couple of timing issues, he handled the lifts well though

Sam and Nikita - it did look a little stiff in parts but the footwork was good and she hit some nice shapes, but she did look like she was just walking in places

Shayne and Nancy - he obviously has good musicality and timing but tbh I found it kind of boring, idk wasn't for me though he danced it pretty well (not the fleckle though he was too far away from Nancy)

Wynne and Katya - hips were a bit hit and miss, I think he was a little ahead of the music but his footwork was excellent, I do think he needs to work on not singing so obviously

Punam and Gorka - I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Bollywood dancing but her timing was excellent, exactly on beat, it seemed a little smaller/less exaggerated than I've seen Bollywood be before but for all I know that's the style and she seemed really really happy to be doing it

Jamie and Michelle - good footwork but I found it a bit frantic and his frame wasn't strong enough to keep the top line still while the feet are going so fast, out of hold he was very good

Themed weeks are always fun and this was a great ride
