Anyway shout out to Dewey who constantly looked like he was having the worst time of his fucking life in the pitches

Just an 11 year old pissed off at the world it seems😭

#insane he ended up being so happy go lucky in canon #like in the art book they talk about the character shift dewey had once ben auditioned #and he made them realize they could take a more comedic approach with him #but initially dewey’s character seemed very negative and irritable #they had the label ‘the bad boy’ of the 3 on him for a bit too #bc of the massive chip on his shoulder and how unsatisfied he was at the time #and tbh you can see bits of that in the pilot #dewey’s character and overall demeanor is very different in the first two eps of s1 #i LOVE my boy as the bright impulsive ball of sunshine and danger that he is #but this original pitch of him intrigues me a lot #like i can talk about pitch!dewey for hours bc #kinda feels like wasted potential idk LMAO #bc he didn’t entirely disappear at least in s1 so #just a lot of dewey thoughts #bc that’s my boy🫶#ducktales #ducktales 2017 #dewey duck

i swear my stepdad is so illogical AND stubborn it hurts

#okay so strap in coz this is a wild ride #tl;dr we have been without heat and warm water for years and i mean literal years #because he refuses to pay off some debt he built up with the company #because he feels unfairly treated (let's not get into this. it absolutely makes no sense) by the company #so instead of doing the logical step of growing some balls and admitting he made a mistake and paying off his shit #he's been looking for a new supplier all over but the deal IS #that he's been doing this with a couple of places before and people are hesitant to even make him any offers #and you'd think that learning about THAT at least now he'd be like. idk willing to just pay off his debt and be done with it #but you'd be WRONG #now he's looking to just have our entire heating system replaced for the teeny tiny price of 25000 bucks #mind you his debt isn't even a THIRD of that #and obviously he can't afford those 25000 bucks #so what's his next step now you might wonder?#well good thing you asked. his next step is going off on ME for not paying towards the new heating he wants #and now that that's not working for him guess what he did next?#that's right. he bought shit expensive 'space heaters' that are pretty much just small little boxes that you plug into an outlet #and he swears up and down that they're going to heat up our house (it's negative degrees outside)#(it's obviously not working)#and genuinely. all i can think of is how much money he shoved into trying to macgyver this house into a house with warm water and heating #and how he blew off ten thousands of bucks he got paid when he retired within the span of two weeks #when this debt could have been paid off ten times over by now #so now you might be thinking. okay tiago. why don't you move out #good question you see. my mom is disabled and reliant on someone who cares for her #something that he can't won't and shouldn't do because the last time he sorta kinda tried she almost died and we had to call an ambulance #she wouldn't eat a thing if i weren't there to cook. the house would fall into disrepair if i wouldn't do maintenance all around #i've set up (functioning) heat in some areas she occupies and i've gotten a boiler going so she at least has warm water #i'm paying off their bills to make sure he doesn't skip on paying any others. i'm buying groceries for them because again they wouldn't get #any for themselves #and finally. i've offered to pay off his debt so that we can finally live like normal fucking people do #and guess what. guess WHAT. he just got mad at me for not adding money to that 25000 bucks pool for that new fancy heating he wants

The couple would use their kids as arguing points more often than not, but hearing Fidds say it calms him down in ways he can't really explain

Mr. Pines: Oh, you're kidding me! Don't start me with this again!

Mrs. Pines: Just face it! We may as well send them to him! He'd be better company in the home than us!

Mr. Pines: But he's just like Mason! Antisocial, always buried in something outside of the real world- What if he makes the kid worse?! And Mabel! She'd tear him to pieces!

Mrs. Pines: Don't talk about our kids like that! Now, there is nothing wrong with being different! Both of them are!

Mr. Pines: But the last thing they need is-

Dipper: *Grunts as He Falls Onto the Floor*

Mr. Pines: Mason! Oh, gosh, how much of that did you hear?

Dipper: Nothing.

Mrs. Pines: Oh, Mason. It's okay to tell us. We were being loud anyway, weren't we?

Dipper: *Nods*

Mrs. Pines: We're so sorry, we didn't mean to upset you. Is Mabel with you?

Dipper: *Shakes His Head*

Mr. and Mrs. Pines: *Sigh with Relief*

Fidds, quietly: So, they're just here now, huh? Poor things, must be so scared.

Stan: Eh, I dunno. Seemed pretty okay to me.

Fidds: You didn't even take the time t' pay attention t' that; what with all yer hollerin' and such. Stanley Pines, you could be a professional hog caller if ya tried.

Stan: Ha-ha. Very cute.

Fidds: *Giggles* So, what are their names?

Stan: Uh... If I remember correctly, I think it was... ah, c'mon... Oh! Dipper and Mabel!

Fidds: Dipper?

Stan: Yeah, some sorta nickname. Real name is... Mason, I think? I forget why they call him Dipper. Just know that he's started preferring that name lately.

Fidds, calmly: Mason? That's a sweet name. I'm sure they're both real nice.

Stan: Who knows? I never got to spend time with 'em. Could be skittish like Pointdexter.

Fidds, with a smirk: There is nothin' wrong with bein' skittish. Long as he's got a kind heart. Just one look at him and I can tell he does.

Stan: *Snorts* Okay, Honey Bunches. That thing make ya psychic too?

Fidds: Now, Stanley, I'm gettin' a little miffed with ya.

Stan: Ah, sorry. So, what d'ya think they're doin' right now?

Fidds: I dunno, but I think it's best we give 'em time t' settle in, make a home o' this place.

Dipper: *Runs Straight to Fidds and Hugs Him*

Fidds, caught off guard: Oh! Um, Dipper, was it? What're you-

Dipper, bashfully: You can call me my real name.

Fidds: Oh... alright?

Stan: What, nothin' for your great uncle Stan? C'mon Ma-

Dipper: You don't get to call me that.

Stan, surprised yet impressed: Alright. Got it. Dipper it is.

Dipper has mainly associated his real name with grief of some sort (his parents' arguments, bullying at school, Stan's gruff tone), so hearing Fidds say it so kindly, without any hint of teasing, anger, or unkind motive; It was enough to make him want to hear it more, but only from the vampire.

He's also incredibly grateful that Stan respects his wishes, even when upset.
