Jim Starling and Drake Mallard in DT17 negaverse?

OK so NegaDrake is like this but he's dead now cause he can't take a punch at all and as soon as Negaduck / regular Jim came to the Negaverse he killed him so he could take his place. NegaLP moved on very quickly cuz he’s fucked up like that

I love my oc Jake Mallard, being a Negaverse counterpart to Drake (2017). That being said, I never had a chance to write out Primary Drake as NegaDuck while Jim takes on the role as DW for real.

The idea of him being a scary, entitled actor like Jim thought he was in real time, having his big break taken away from him on top of his hero having an attempt on his life, and getting away with it in spite of Jim’s change of heart? 

Firstly, I would have altered it where the sense of entitlement was there already and not the adorkable, excitable fanboy that I know and love being the first meeting with Jim. He’s still excited, but tries to put on an act, showing how insecure he really is. Jim just wouldn’t be having it since, like Drake, he’s stubborn, proud force to be reckoned with. Instead of being sad that Jim is flat out ignoring him, he’s visibly angered that Dewey was getting the attention and not him.

Jim, I wouldn’t change too much outside of him being less of a murderous villain, and more of a grouchy hasbin that just wanted to finish what he started before the original show was cancelled.

Launchpad would be the key to Jim having his mini arc to understand what DWD means as a whole, while Drake, at first seeming to understand, gets “killed” anyway.

While Jim feels guilt over what happened, he and Launchpad decide to go on as a team in Drake’s memory. Meanwhile...a costumed crusader’s clothes turn red, yellow and black, plotting already to enact revenge on the very person who he believed set him up.

Cecil smiled to himself when he heard his boyfriend's evil doppleganger's voice. Something about it felt.. off but he pushed that feeling to the side as he went to give his boyfriend a hug.

"Work let me take the weekend off so I was thinking I could surprise you, Carlos and the kids by coming here," he said, making his way to where he heard Drake's voice.

"Drake? Are you home babe?"

NegaDrake pauses when he hears his dopplegangers name being called. This stranger has ultimately given away their relationship right off the bat and he can’t help but smile slightly, thinking up ways of ruining Dorkwing day. 

“Right over here...babe.”

Dr. Reginald Bushroot had been a patient man, at one point in his life. Probably before he’d gotten mutated into a half-plant, half-duck monstrosity, but that was neither here nor there. This was not the Negaduck he was familiar with, but all the same, he’d found his way to reggie’s hiding place...

And, when he’d tried to defend himself from the intrusion, he’d had the gall to stab him! Right in the stomach. It hurt, of course- pain didn’t stop just because you couldn’t technically die to normal means.

What it did do, though, was make the scientist who did his best to adhere to pacifism angrier than he normally got. Grasping the other duck’s coat, he huffed out a bit as through cracks in the old greenhouse floor, thick vines began to creep out, moving as though to entangle the intruder’s legs.

“You know, if you really were Negaduck, I’m pretty sure I’d be mulch by now. But even though you’re not him, I don’t think you’re any better for this city than he is, so maybe you should be the one who ends up fertilizer instead!”

Tonight could not have gone worse. He didn’t dare say that out loud, of course- as an actor, he had a lot more superstitions than some people assumed, even if some of them were silly. But dealing with his dimensional duplicate - though he wasn’t entirely sure how closely they were similar - just made things all the more unpleasant.

That got even worse when he caught a knife from this Nega Drake, catching him in the abdomen. He’d managed to feint back far enough that it didn’t penetrate too deeply, instead getting stuck in the heavy kevlar of his costume...

But worse still, he’d managed to kick his alternate away at the same time, and now the knife was just... there.

Drake couldn’t resist a wry, pained grin.

“So are you gonna want this back or can I keep it?”

How does the negaverse work with the reboot? Since negaduck is just a guy

Well lol in dwd there were two different origin stories for negaduck and one of them didn't involve the existence of a negaverse so it's alright he was just a guy there too

Anyway I figured Jim would partner with some evil science people and they'd somehow create the Negaverse using science or magic or whatever. I think Jim would sneak in and kill NegaDrake so he could take his place as NegaDuck. It'd be very intense and dramatic

Thinkin’ about Negaduck and the Negaverse.

My pitch: Negative does not mean bad.

1. consisting in or characterized by the absence rather than the presence of distinguishing features.

So, assuming Darkwing Duck’s verse is the Posiverse, that may mean PosiDrake’s life is characterized by what was in it, while NegaDrake’s life was characterized by what was not. This would go for the rest of the cast too. Perhaps the only traits the Negaverse and Posiverse have in common are neutral events.

Second proposal: the people are, deep down, the same. Their lives were different.

Drake Mallard was a dweeby kid. He was tiny, and he was cowardly, and he was bullied. That is, up until his future self changed his life. From then on, he shaped himself in the image of this supposed stranger.

Drake Mallard lived in a nice city filled with good people he wanted to protect. He went out and restored order by force. He became the savior.

Drake Mallard lived in a treacherous metropolis filled with bad people he wanted to be protected from. He went out and restored order by force. He became the bully.

Drake Mallard loved living as his alter-ego; he poured his soul into being the best he could be, at the cost of living a normal life. He wanted to be worthy. He needed to be known. A powerful adversary finally presented himself, and one thing led to another. He found Gosalyn, who was alone, didn’t fit in, needed protection. He adopted her and gave her what she needed.

Gosalyn was rowdy and often found herself in trouble. Drake balanced his life of fighting by becoming a doting parent to shield her from harm. He did his best to be the kind of rolemodel he had needed; he didn’t want her to hurt further.

And so here they are, Darkwing Duck and Negaduck, the same person. I’m willing to bet Negaduck is so absorbed in crime to distract himself from the good in the world; he seems to have quite an adverse reaction to it.

{ ☆ } Felton would... Hell, he’d lay down his life for Drake’s at a moment’s notice, despite his overly-vocal claims of the opposite. Mostly said in jest, now that he looks back at it. Which in itself is odd, the snarky shit usually so careful to unwaveringly keep up his selfish facade. It’s one of his few layers of protection, after all. Where he’s from, one would be stupid to give up ANY means of staying alive, no matter how bullshit they may be. Usually that’s most of what you’ve got to work with... But damn it, he’s grown close to the vengeful mallard.

Really close... One might even say he cares about the bastard.

Felton just hadn’t planned on being one of those to actually DO so. He still doesn’t; at least, not in those exact words. But as he regards Drake, eyes wide with surprise he can’t shove down before it’s too late, brow slowly knit in disbelief. Not of the others statement— a quick study of Drake’s expression and body language makes it clear he’s not deceiving him —but the fact that it’s being said at all; being felt... Honestly, Felton hadn’t thought Drake would risk ANYTHING for him, let alone his own ass. And he’d been fine with that. Expected it.

What he hadn’t, was for Drake to have his back... Albeit, as long as Felton has his. A smart sentiment. Smarter than Felton, not that the seemingly-proud duck would ever admit that either.

But what he does offer is a small chuff of a laugh, studious gaze replaced with a grin, grateful but not overly-soft for fear of reading more into what could just be a show of faith. Extending a hand for a shake, Felton says with more composure than he actually feels,  ❝  Well, heh... Luckily for you- ... I would.  ❞  A beat of quiet before he adds through a slightly softer smile,  ❝  Each and every time, you fucking show-off~  ❞   { ☆ }
