It’s really interesting how 99% of g3 haters complaints can be shut down with the words

“Your nostalgia is not more important than the careful and valuable representation g3 affords people who do not often get it.”

You don’t have to try and explain why changes were done. Because reboot resentment caused from nostalgia bias is inherently illogical and kneejerk. You can’t out logic the fundamentally irrational.

It’s more effective to quickly and firmly highlight how selfish that mindset is making them.

How they’re prioritising their own petty comforts over others finally being fully seen. Often for the first time in their lives.

Ringo's Love of Jive Dancing

Playing skiffle with Eddie Clayton introduced a welcome way out from the street-corner existence Richy Starkey had known more than a year. It would take a long time to remove himself completely, but being with a group was an alternative to “walking” with the gang, and when he and Roy weren’t doing one or the other they were often dancing. Both were athletic and acrobatic jivers, accomplished rock and roll dancers able to flip, flop and fly their female partners, hold them up in the air and send them scooting through their legs.

Richy was a good jiver and so was I. We used to go to all the hops, to the Rialto and the Cavern, and girls liked to dance with us because we could do it. We had denim suits and denim jackets so the lads and girls in the Cavern called us “the Binmen.” We had regular jiving partners and loved it. But we were seriously threatened in the Rialto one night. Some feller got stabbed in the face with a pair of scissors and I was told, “You and your mate are next.” We were out of there like a shot. We didn’t like that at all. That was me and Richy—out the door.

I started my first real job this week! I returned to the company where I did my internship last year (mandatory for my university programme), but I'm a proper employee now. Since I was already familiar with the environment, settling in went fairly smooth, and although a few things are different now (ie as an intern I was never required to join meetings), I quickly got back into the loop. I do web development stuff :)

I remember now how time consuming and exhausting a full time job is though🫠🫠🫠 I still need to adjust to the new routine so if I'm being more absent that's probably why. I'm really glad it's finally weekend and I can rest a bit now😭

Tbh some days are harder than others! I like to think I’ve gotten a lot better at simply not logging on when I expect there to be those sorts of posts - also making sure that the blogs I follow are the only ones I wanna see on my tl. Sometimes, like earlier today, I just channel my energy into making gifs and only come on tumblr to post those and leave lol

Obviously, I still see stuff if I go looking in his tag or something slips thru the cracks, and some days I write out a whole rant and then delete it (it can be v therapeutic just to type your feelings, even if you never post it). Also having someone/people who I can talk to about it can be pretty helpful. Or even revisiting a Carlos thing that makes you smile! I’ll sometimes just go thru his tag on my blog and inevitably something silly he did will make me laugh and I feel (mostly) better 😂❤️

Other than that, I think just recognizing that everyone’s opinions are just that - opinions! Pro sports is one of the areas in life that people can be the most opinionated/vocal/vitriolic about online but it’s bc it inspires such passion in people. Personally, I like to channel my passion for f1 in positive ways - it makes me a happier person and it’s the whole ‘be the change you want to see’ in the fandom philosophy haha

its wip wednesday and guess who ISNT writing pokemon fic for once? [dipper pines voice] this guy!!!

anyway yeah the gf hype train got me, ok? dipper being canonically kinda angsty about his parents got me. i've always thought it'd be interesting if in the space between when stan's memories get erased and the twins' birthday party it actually takes some time for stan to get his memories back. cartoon logic suggests it happens right away, but well. where's the fun in that! tl;dr this fic is basically "what if stan remembers mabel (and everyone else lol) better and sooner than he remembers dipper" because it's been like 10 years and i'm still not over dreamscaperers. i guess

You’re being all worry-y!” “I am not!” “You are, and it’s not gonna help with anything! It’s only been a couple days. Mabel has been tossing and turning in her sleep these past few nights, muttering nonsense Dipper isn’t even sure he wants to try to understand the meaning of. As for him, every time he closes his eyes, he sees Bill again. The moment he turned Ford to gold and burned the journals, holding his sister hostage, shaking Stan’s hand… Whenever he does manage to fall asleep, it’s that same dream he’s been having all summer. Not worth it, too hard, forget about it, I’ve had enough. This doesn’t do much to curb his worrying the next morning, which has him feeling defeated before he’s even made it to the breakfast table. Mabel attempts to cheer him up with a glass of Mabel Juice in spite of his vehement refusals, while Stan walks into the kitchen and says, “Sheesh, why the long face, kid?” Dipper rubs at his eyes, sighing. He looks around the kitchen suspiciously. “Where’s Great Uncle Ford?” Stan shrugs. “Said somethin’ about going into town.” “Really?” Mabel frowns and scratches at her head. “Does he even know how to do that?”
