"Coffee in the morning is a must. It's almost a state of emergency when you've run out of coffee filters and all you need is that one cup to get you started. Will a sock work? Will an old t-shirt? How bad would it be to just drink the grinds? I bet gritty coffee would actually pep you up a bit faster. It'd be chokier....and it would be a good idea to brush your teeth straight afterwards, to avoid black bits all over your teeth...but love will find a way. You will drink that coffee at any cost.  I'd probably use an old (clean) facecloth...if I had to."

homegirl has THE STUPIDEST NAME EVER. he’s the director’s model minority stereotype pawn. he’s a sweetheart he’s a goofball he’s socially anxious he just wants to do the right thing he’s trying to be what everyone else wants him to be while simultaneously questioning his entire life. his hair is clearly bleached and his voice actor said that if you ever find a gay man with bleached hair you know he’s going through a crisis. he represents mixed race issues with “the blood of gloreth” being whiteness which the director used to put him on a pedestal and then discarded him when he began to fight against/question her system. he is rightfully angry when he goes to question the director whereas before he’d been keeping it all hidden. he smiles at the best possible moments in his dialogue. his armor is gold. he’s physically and verbally affectionate. he’s a dork and his hair smells like lavender. he’s allergic to olives. he’s dating public enemy number one. he chopped his boyfriend’s arm off. he changes his worldview when he realizes the system he’d perpetuated was hurting people. he throws himself into hugs. his boyfriend hates freestyle jazz. he just wants to solve the conflict without people getting hurt.

This is something I brewed myself that I’m really excited about. I’ve been getting into learning about mead (fermented honey) both because of its history with the ancient peoples of Northern Europe and also because of the flavors, process, etc. Also, I think turning something created by the flowers and bees all around us into a delicious drink is a pretty cool way of interacting with the natural world and the ecosystem surrounding us. 🌸🌼🐝🍯👉🏻🍺 So this is a style of mean known as a “braggot.” A braggot is a mead made with BOTH honey and malted barley. I used pilsener malt, and a locally produced honey from @swarmbustinhoney It’s their fall wildflower honey made from bees that pollinated wildflowers that bloom specifically in the fall. The honey had this amazing smoky flavor almost like honey and maple syrup combined, and these flavors do come through in the finished product. I used mugwort to bitter it, which would have been consistent with a braggot made in the dark ages or ancient times when various herbs were used in the brewing process before the advent of hops. I used an ale yeast (s-04) to ferment it. In addition to the honey characteristics, there are some strong fruity and citrus notes. I’m thinking this was imparted from the yeast as we had a few hot days during its fermentation.
