My absolute favorite book for the month was The Sunshine Court. It’s one that will stick with me for a long while and it’s one that I’m gonna have to reread before the next book comes out.

Moonstruck - Onley James (Necessary Evils, book 3)

Synopsis

Atticus Mulvaney is the eldest son of eccentric billionaire, Thomas Mulvaney—a role he takes very seriously. Atticus takes everything seriously. Like his brothers, Atticus is a psychopath, raised to right the wrongs of a broken justice system. Unlike his brothers, he’s not very good at it.

Jericho Navarro is no psychopath, but he is a vicious killer. Like Atticus, he also has a secret life. To most, he’s just a mechanic. But to a ragtag group of social misfits, he’s Peter Pan, teaching them to eliminate those who prey on the weak with extreme prejudice.

When Atticus and Jericho come face to face over a shared enemy, their accidental meeting ends in an explosively hot hookup neither can forget. But they have nothing in common. Atticus is a buttoned-up closeted scientist and Jericho is a man on a mission, determined to find and punish those responsible for the death of his sister. Still, Jericho can’t stay away. And, truthfully, Atticus doesn’t want him to.

As Jericho’s mission begins to bleed into Atticus’s life, two separate but equally brutal families will need to learn how to fight together to take out a common enemy. But no amount of brute force can show Jericho how to scale the walls of a psychopath’s heart. Can Jericho convince Atticus that, sometimes, the couple who kills together stays together?

Moonstruck is a high heat, intense psychopath romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It features a fumbling, sexually confused maniac and the dominating, unapologetic gang leader who can’t stop tormenting him. As always, there’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, more killers than you can count, and enough explosive chemistry to level a city block. This is book three in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

My Thoughts

As the oldest Mulvaney son, there has been a lot of pressure on Atticus to excel; to be the best. But Atticus isn’t quite like his brothers. He doesn’t enjoy the thrill of the kill. But lucky for him, Jericho does.

Jericho is his own brand of vigilante justice. Mechanic by day, merciless killer by night. Along with his brother Felix, they have their own crew of vigilantes who go after those who get away with atrocities. So when Atticus and Jericho meet unconventionally, it’s only natural that they’re drawn to each other.

Atticus fascinates me. He’s not at all like Adam or August, from the previous books. While he is also a psychopath, he’d much rather use his laser-focus on other ventures – usually involving his lab, research, and grant applications. So when his attention is wrapped up in the mystery behind Jericho’s sister’s disappearance and death, he does what he can – work behind the scenes to get answers.

But Jericho isn’t a man who needs to be taken care of or protected. He can do that for himself. Instead, Jericho needs someone he can take care of, and that someone is Atticus. Slowly, but surely, Atticus trusts Jericho with the parts of himself he’s hidden away – some of those softer parts he hides from his family. And it works well, because Atticus and Jericho communicate, every step of the way.

As the Mulvaney’s team up with Jericho and his crew to unravel the horrific truth behind Jericho’s sister’s death, it’s pretty clear that this is going to continue into the next books in the series. As the cast of characters continues to grow, so to do all the connections, and potential for shenanigans.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Random Togami Headcanon 12

The are many different ways that Byakuya functions that makes one question. Specifically, what he can and can ingest. Tldr; he's decently immune to toxins and poisons and can casually drink bleach like it's nothing. The heir DOES get a bit loopy though if he's had too much bleach. At the same time though, when Byakuya takes a nibble at like, any fast food, he feels pretty grody. Horrible. Freaking disgusting from the inside out. Like, he just can't eat chicken nuggets or fast food or super SUPER processed foods. Even then, he'd never voluntarily eat any of those things. Besides, why would he WILLINGLY ingest something that gives him stomach cramps that, despite it being very apparent he's uncomfortable, denies that he has stomach craps. Yeah. His stomach is just, bizarre. Like, it can handle freaking poisons in small portions but grease just kills the poor thing! And, that's not even talking about the physical parts of it which are also a bit sensitive though it's manageable. Also, I swear. This man just wants to forget he's a mortal human being the majority of the time. And, not in like a Gundam way. Just in a sad way. Not that Gundam's way isn't sad. It's just less pathetic. There are smaller examples like Byakuya forgetting to eat or hydrate because he's too absorbed in his work. Bastard tries and fails to work like a machine on numerous occasions. It also doesn't help that he DOES feel hunger but it's faint enough at times where he can just ignore it entirely or easily not even notice he's hungry. Then, there are other examples which are just like, functions he wishes he never had at all. In better cases and examples, he can call it what it is and still deny. Like, he can still say the name of what it is without feeling intense disgust. This includes stuff like being out of breath, sweaty, and just physically and emotionally drained in general. The last one is because he's all about productivity. So, when he can't be productive, it drives him up a wall and out of a window at mach speed from the pure emotions he feels about it. In another example, he could be sweating his ass off and just acts like he doesn't at all or that he is not in fact sweating at the moment. It's either that or he just pretends he doesn't notice mentally, regardless of the evidence such as panting lightly or feelable, forming pit stains. He fucking hates those stains. Worst examples however... Gosh. He is so particular and picky but also just physically uncomfortable. Basically, there are the functions that he will never wish to even say the name of because he: 1. Hates the function's that much. 2. Hates the fact that he has no control over the fact that, when these function's happen, they happen and there is nothing he can do about it to change the outcome 3. Hates how the words sound which makes him feel more disgusted as a whole which is also why he refuses to say them at all 4. Hates how these functions are seen as "comedy" to some for weird reasons he will never understand nor wish to 5. Hates how these functions make him feel I feel ya, man T-T But yeah. Genuinely does not help that this man is all about control in his life. So, majority of the times, when he can't control something, his first response is to get mad and upset about it. Though, bodily functions he doesn't like are like, it's own category. Like, this isn't like him not liking his laugh because he's embarrassed and unused to it when he's unable to stifle it in. Despite his aversions to laughter, it's something he could learn to enjoy and work with. It could also be something he might even want to do more frequently depending on the circumstances. These functions are not those (also i am not naming them cus i am literally the exact same thing like, what i am describing, i feels it in my bones so only speculation for u. sorry. i legit just don't like seeing or hearing those words like, ugh! why can't one find different terms that sound less archaic?!)

My version of Roo AKA Root Of Evil and some headcanon of her:

Roo is based on Angra Mainyu/Ahriman from Zoroastrian Mythology

For those who doesn't know who is Angra Mainyu:

The most common theory of Roo was her being Eve, I headcanon her that the reason why Roo looks like Eve because she needs a body and since Eve is the first human who committed sin, Roo took over her body ( Don't ask me why, I thought it would be a cool concept that she possessed Eve, besides it kinda like how Kenjaku took over Geto's body in Jujutsu Kaisen, also demonic possession would be a neat if it exist ij Helluverse).

Roo can manipulate and possessed anyone, doesn't matter if it was a demon, angel or sinners . Perhpas the reason why Lilith left Lucifer and Charlie, because she can manipulate her and how dangerous she can be if she ever knew Charlie's existence.

Roo needs more power because she is not really strong on her own. That's why she uses Alastor as her pawn/toy and her treatment to him is probably far more worse than Valentino's treatment to Angel Dust or Mammon to Fizz (I can imagine Roo is greedier than Mammon himself, since she is the root of evil), this can also mean why Alastor disappears for 7 years and how he desperately wanted to be free (one of the harsh treatment to him was stitching his mouth to make sure he smiled all the time, poor Al)

I also headcanon that Roo's personality is extremely sadist, manipulative and can be a bit of possessive to her subject. But she can get bored if her "toys" are useless and would tossed them away in a horrible way (When it comes making an antagonist, I always make them as sadistic, manipulative, psycho, backstabbing, and a bit abusive kind of villain, haha😅)

Like Vox, Roo can spy others with her eyes and since her eyes are all over Hell, she can watches anyone (and possibly picking her new "toy"). Just imagine how fucked up it will be if those eyes were all of her disposed "toys" that died during extermination

Roo's chains can come into any color, her main chain was the same chain as Alastor.

I also did headcanon Roo can changed her appearance to persuade her victim to made contract with her, I imagined that Roo can also make herself look like Lilith and since there is another theory that Alastor making contract with Lilith, Roo probably shapeshift into her and based on my previous headcanon, this is the reason why Lilith left, so Roo can't manipulate her and her family (other than she still thinks that Roo is Eve)

Completely aware that she can't be destroyed since good can't exist without evil

belial is the worst tsc villian ever because his motivations make no sense and are quite frankly stupid. why did he spend a whole book putting an enormous amount of effort into possessing Jesse and killing a grand total of five people and very briefly summoning his brother to earth to fight one (1) Institute... like in what way did any of that help achieve his ultimate goal of crowning himself King of England I don't get it. mind you he's a literal Prince of Hell and claims he's the one who gave Lucifer the idea to rebel against God like truly why does he care this much 💀

Straight up the most emotionally moving moment in their series. I laughed, I cried, I cheered.

I mean, did I want to see him and his friends down in a basement with Vegas in a raincoat? Did I want to see them in the Mulvaney brother's murder cabin? Sure. If I'm forced to watch them abuse and assault Sky twice, then I think I deserve a little on-screen torture, but I'll take what I can get.

Maniac - Onley James (Necessary Evils, book 7)

Synopsis

Thomas Mulvaney was just a child when an error in judgment cost him everything. He vowed then that he would do anything to atone for his mistake. And he did. He never strayed from the right path. Until Aiden.

Aiden Mulvaney doesn’t exist. He’s a lie created by the father who disowned him and by Thomas Mulvaney, the only man Aiden had ever begged to love him. But that was years ago, when he’d still believed in fairytales. Before Thomas rejected him.

Thomas has spent years trying to have Aiden in his life while keeping him at arm’s length, but Aiden’s done with half-measures. He’s done with Thomas the martyr. He’s just done. So, he’s kept his distance. Trouble is, now, someone is threatening to expose a secret that affects them all.

My Thoughts

Thomas Mulvaney is the patriarch of the family. Always in control. Always has the answers. Always supports his sons. And Aiden is hopelessly in love with him – has been since Thomas took him in as an angry teenager with a thirst for vengeance and violence. But Thomas keeps his distance, keeps the walls up. Until he needs Aiden’s help.

The past has come back to haunt Thomas, and he reaches out to the only man he knows won’t deny him the help he needs. Together, they set out to uncover who could possibly know the Mulvaney family secrets, and is determined to blackmail Thomas, or tear his family apart from the inside out.

It doesn’t take long before, in classic Mulvaney fashion, getting to the bottom of the case turns into a family affair. All of Thomas’ most important people �� including Calliope! – are called in to work the case. And in the meantime, Aiden works on Thomas’ walls. And he succeeds.

Aiden isn’t the vengeful 16-year-old he was when Thomas took him in. He’s built a life for himself – away from most things Mulvaney – and he’s proven that this time, they can make things work. They can build a relationship on equal footing, and they can be happy. Together. And there’s nothing Thomas wants more, his own trauma be damned.

As they wrap up the case, Thomas and Aiden weather the scandal storm together. And they do what they were meant to do – be happy, support their eccentric, large family, and take out the trash exactly where it belongs. Happily ever after.
