On TAZ-

Wow that sounds like I’m about to summarize some sort of discourse but I promise I’m not. I guess I’ll say that I really like this show and I will keep listening even if my worst fears come to pass, so keep that in mind!

For reference, I started listening near the end of Amnesty.

I’ve noticed, with the past few arcs- really since Ethersea- the narratives have just… not been fulfilling their promises, so to speak. They’ve been placing a lot of guns that don’t go off. What I mean by that is, the characters are great. Excellent, really. Lady Godwin? HELL YES. Emerich Dreadway? Fuck yeah! And so on! And the settings and premises have been epic- the goofiness and also horrifying nature of Engrave, the mad and thrilling world of Steeplechase- these things are COOL AS FUCK.

and then the actual narratives keep flopping?

And honestly, I notice it most in the endings, because you can really tell when an ending doesn’t land. You feel the sense of disappointment. But with vs. Dracula, for example, I could kinda see leading up to it that the ending couldn’t really BE anything special, because they lowkey didn’t set themselves up for it.

They spent the campaign fucking around in Engrave, finding clues and solving problems and not really experiencing any particularly meaningful character arcs or growth or, idk, forming relationships? So there wasn’t much to pay off, I’m not gonna lie!

Of course it doesn’t feel quite as dissatisfying when you’re in the thick of it, because they’re funny and the stuff is cool and- oh hey! Lady Godwin’s been turned into a werehorse against her will?? that’s got some real potential for a LOT of allegories and exploration of some fun character development! And then it’s kinda played as a joke. And then they do that again and again.

And they actually said that that was a move they made intentionally, in the TTAZZ. I’m not quoting them perfectly here, this is from memory, but I do remember them mentioning that they wanted lighthearted comedy without the burden of real life story stuff. And I get that, honestly, but… it’s not the choice I would’ve made. I do think you can keep a lighthearted tone while also, idk, forming relationships and wholesomely engaging with some amount of emotion. And sometimes going way too deep is funny as a tone shift!

But I digress. One thing that’s also popped out to me is the almost complete lack of any kind of romantic storyline or even references. This becomes obvious if you’re in a fandom because everyone is always dying to ship SOMEONE, and you can tell when people are really getting desperate. I don’t blame them for not wanting to roleplay romance with their family, and I do think stories lacking romance are COOL and SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED!

However if you can’t find ANYBODY to ship together… that may mean you just don’t have character bonds. The growing popularity of the PC polycule is interesting to me; I wonder if it’s partially because

a) none of the pcs have significant relationships outside of their party and

b) even within the party, there doesn’t seem to be much chemistry between any given pair of characters…? I hope I’m making my point well here- the PCs all seem equally close and have more or less the same relationship to all of their compatriots with little distinction, meaning, essentially, no shipping fodder that doesn’t involve just all of ‘em.

Either way, it makes me wonder if I can blame the “Graduation has too many NPCs!” critique. They really stopped giving the parties tag-along main NPCs after graduation, with the exception of maybe.. Urchin? Kodira? Shlabethany? Poppy? and even they get relatively little “screen” time. Steeplechase has great NPCs, I love them to death, but none of the PCs seem to ever have one on one conversations with NPCs or each other that do not explicitly focus on the plot. And I think that’s part of why the characters feel so underdeveloped despite having spent a lot of time with them- because in this character-driven genre, we get very little insight into their feelings or motivations or even their rudimentary backstories.

I started watching Fantasy High recently and it made me realize a couple things about TAZ.

1) Recently, TAZ has sooo few core NPCs, and it’s weird that the characters aren’t doing more one-on-one purely character based scenes. And that makes it really tough to develop them.

2) TAZ is- and I should have realized this before- one of many good dnd podcasts. They’re probably looking for a niche they can master.

And it sounds like they’re trying to get back to that old “Here there be Gerblins!” energy. They’ve referenced it so many times in recent TTAZZes- they wanted to be job-focused, allowing story stuff to happen organically, so they tried a more open world vibe with Ethersea. They wanted to be less afraid to kill stuff, so they tried playing criminals (and were still afraid to kill stuff). They wanted to be silly and light on character, as they tackled with taz vs dracula. Now they’re trying to bring in the silly cartoon vibe with Abnimals. I think they’re trying to make that family-friendly, funny and goofy show their niche. Something other actual plays can’t be better at them at.

And honestly it kinda makes me sad, that they keep trying to go back to Balance while ignoring everything they learned during it. Because I loved Dust. Because I loved Amnesty. Because I loved Ethersea. I loved these past arcs! But they keep doing their brilliant characters dirty for some reason!!! And i don’t know why!!!!

You know that meme about people who ask questions in movies and then the person responds “Have you ever been to a movie before? You watch them and the information is revealed.” There have been so many times in TAZ recently where information has Not been revealed and if they keep doing it the audience will stop bothering to suspend their disbelief, because the trust just isn’t there.

What is Montrose’s deal? What on earth was Carmine Denton’s whole thing? Tell me more about Zoox’s feelings, about Devo’s past, about Amber’s future. Show me how Lady Godwin feels about the body horror that is her life- like, seriously! WHY DID WE HAVE TO COMPLETELY DISMISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS GENERATIONAL TRAUMA IN MUTT’S LIFE FOR A JOKE??

Do you remember in Steeplechase where the boys were getting medical attention or something- i don’t remember, but they were all in one room and only talking about The Plot. And Poppy literally banged on the door (speaking for both Justin and me, tbh) and was like “does anyone want to share any feeeeelings??” and they were like NOPE! and they moved on!!

like. cmon. you can’t just put a character like montrose out there and then leave them severely underdeveloped to the point that what would be interesting in proper context, with audience insight, becomes confusing and chaotic.

I just wish they would take their stories as seriously as we do.

It feels to me like they don’t believe in themselves, and it makes me sad. Maybe they didn’t get the response they wanted from Ethersea and so they’ve been trying to pivot, hoping to recapture whatever it was that earned them a loyal audience.

Again, I love them. They’re so funny and I’ll keep listening until the day they stop making this show, and when it happens I’ll cry.

But i KNOW they have more in them. Remember the “we’ll grow gills” monologue from Justin in the Prologues? Remember Travis’s SOLID acting with Devo? Or his awesome choice to give Lyndon/Beef a clearly delineated work/irl identity? His excellent narration and prose? Remember when Montrose described being lonely?! Remember all those moments where Shit Got Real and you cared??? The nanofather said some dope shit! dracula and victor and sweater dracula had such a wild dynamic! Clint’s acting in Dust 2- I can’t remember the characters name right now- was ASTOUNDING, I genuinely didn’t know he had that in him and it blew me away!

I’m not referencing Balance on purpose, both because the fandom is way to hung up on it and because I want to prove that you don’t even have to look at Balance, or even Post-Balance arcs, to see this kind of good cool stuff!

GAAAAAAAGHHHH!!! I want them to have fun. But also. We’re starving out here.

Ok so yellowjackets s3...Some time ago I posted (here) some thoughts and theories and I'm doing it again because since then we've gotten more things about this season.

There's not much here because some things I wrote before I keep thinking the same, and others I just forgot or are too much of a guess to put here

I keep my opinion on Ben's trial, im almost sure about that, but I'm not so sure that they killed him. Now I kinda think he kills himself? Idk its just a thought based on that redacted promo where Kevin says something about someone falling from somewhere, I just think it's Ben. But I'm just sure that in the dinner scene they are eating him

we just saw almost everyone here, even Mari and all the other non-important characters that could be dead at a dinner, which from the clothes we know involves cannibalism so...that's it

Back to something I said about Mari in that last post, I don't think she's dying anymore, at least not like that and not now

We saw her being hunted and Shauna biting her, and the clothes indicate that they are the same scene.

But here we see her with a bandage on her hand, which I believe is covering the wound from shauna's bite. So she's not being eaten alive.

in that redacted promo they say about finally knowing a character's full name, maybe it's Mari because that's been a thing in the fandom and they know it, so maybe she'll at least get more lines this season or something.

I think this also happens with Melissa, I said this in the first post and I still think so, we see some scenes of her with Shauna, so maybe she will have a more important role in s3. What also makes me think about adult Melissa, but I changed my mind about this because it would be very obvious and they wouldn't have put it so obvious like that in the trailer.

I think this video already makes Lottie's entire arc very obvious to us. We saw Lottie losing her connection with "the wilderness" in s2 and we know how important that was for her. She feels guilty about everything she caused (they say its her fault) and tries not to be that kind of leader anymore, but people keep seeing her like that, so she tries to connect with "wilderness" again. I think this season we will see a much sadder and more suicidal version of Lottie

I think this suicidal version of her will be subtle and she can connect with Travis (not in a romantic way, obviously, that would be terrible) we see some scenes of them together and we know that he lost his brother and ate his heart, so maybe he is feeling guilty. We also know that Lottie is a person who likes to help even though she tries to free herself from this role as a religious leader.

In the adult timeline we see that Travis and Lottie have something of near death experience and suffocation to get closer to "the wilderness” and I think that could start this season. In the first trailer we see a hand, which I believe is Travis's, on Lottie's neck which could be this ritual, but we also see them fighting, so I'm not sure about anything in that part.

I think this season they get even more into this cult and ritual thing, based on trailers.

We know that this season Nat is the leader, replacing Lottie. but we see this being questioned by Shauna with the support of the others, and she withdraws leadership from Nat. which I think may indicate that Nat was helping Ben, which irritates them because they think he sets the cabin on fire.

it was said that this season we will have a much higher body count, that being said: Ben and another girl dead, they probably killed some other character in the adult timeline, adult Van will die or almost die AND adult lottie dies!

It really hurts me to think that adult Lottie is going to die but we don't see much of her in the trailers of this season, but Simone says that Lottie is more involved with the other characters this season, so I really don't know what to think...

I'm not saying a lot of things I think about this season and a lot of theories, because I don't remember and because it's a lot. Just remember that all of this is my guess and I will most likely be wrong.

I'm seeing now that i never talked about my reasoning for Kanna, Q-taro, and Mishima, so if I may indulge myself further ...

Kanna as the Lonely

a bit of an obvious one - she's defined from the moment we meet her by her loss and the absence of her sister. her position in the group as a whole is also weakened by her isolation with Shin - even if it seems from the outside he's manipulating her, that separation makes it a little hard for Sara to trust her at times ...

she's absolutely someone who's strengthened by her bond with others tho, as we see in 3-1 when she actually gets to work with everyone. it's just up to us whether she gets there or not.

Q-taro as the Buried

ohhh I'm so sorry but I'm so proud of this one. first of all - he literally dies in a coffin. what I really enjoy about this assignment is the whole idea of being trapped tho.

Q-taro constantly feels trapped in his life, and takes big risks to get himself out of those situations - he felt trapped in the hospital, and he was so desperate to get out of the Death Game that he stabs everyone else in the back to do it.

Mishima as the Eye

this is definitely moreso related to his AI (haha. get it.), considering he gets more of an omniscient view of the Death Game proceedings.

he's also a bit of a narrative sacrifice, allowing the other participants to learn about the inner workings of the Death Game ... idk. this one's a bit abstract but I think it fits, especially considering that his death only happens because of a lack of prior knowledge.

and uhhh how about dummies for a bonus round!

Ranmaru as the Corruption - he's sooo toxic it's not even funny. maybe I'll still draw this someday, I have a fun composition in mind.

Mai as the Hunt - she's the one who's most forward about the game Midori puts them all up to. she actually betrays Q-taro for her own survival, though he's far too kind to let that be the end for her.

Hinako as the Stranger - do I have to explain her. do I have to

Hayasaka as the Buried - guy's stuck in a dead-end job doing morally questionable work for an all-powerful company ... guy's as buried as it gets.

Kurumada - I used to have him as the Flesh for kinda superficial reasons but since his minisode I feel like he may also be Hunt tbh ... it's all about the "strong eat weak" mindset, after all.

Anzu - honestlyyy I have the weakest vision for her. I'm not really. a fan. of her minisode so I'm not taking much inspiration from it. I enjoy the Vast tho for her just cuz that's always a fun idea with performers and such. you could always go Stranger for clowns but I feel like that doesn't fit her personality much

thank you!! they're my favorite child and everyone's friend < they are extremely socially maladjusted. a lot of dak-wai's endgame is still kind of up in the air for me LOL but i actually am more settled on an 'epilogue.'

i know during the reddit ama that epler said something along the lines of neve/bellara just get cured of the blight when elgar'nan dies but that is not the truth in my heart. bellara does not look perfectly healthy in the post-finale romance scene to me. to ME it's romantic to be a grey warden and have a blighted wife.

i am willing to accept that the nature of the blight has changed by the end of veilguard and so being tainted is not as severe of a death sentence. so first priority is finding out exactly what bellara's outlook is, which involves spending some time in lavendel consulting with antoine and evka and probably emmrich. possibly bellara has to go through (a modified version of?) the joining which is fun/fucked up to me. congratulations you have a new thing in common...! it's like tragic but sweet to me idk. dak-wai trying very hard not to panic about the whole thing because they don't want to stress bellara out, and then helping her deal with warden nightmares... in my beautiful mind also bellara still has some strange blight magic powers because i think she deserves them yay 💕

long-term, they stay in the lighthouse. somebody has to watch over the crossroads, bellara is nowhere near done studying it and the eluvians, and i don't know if either of them would really have another place to settle down? they're both still involved with their respective factions but the lighthouse is home. though, while dak-wai wants to help the wardens rebuild, i don't think they're sticking around afterwards. the nature of the blight has changed, their perception of the wardens has changed after learning about isseya, and their perception of themself has changed over the course of the game. they're not just waiting for the opportunity to die for someone else anymore, they want to enjoy their life - however long or short it may be - with the woman they love.

In practice what this means is they get nearly blown up by artifacts in arlathan like 20 times in the year following the events of veilguard. but they do it together ❤️

Thoughts I had while reading TCF/LCF chapter 15

Oh the hunting rabbits. Once again Ron is being a little shit and he even tricked poor Choi Han into helping him.

Ron may not have caught the rabbits but I imagine it was still his doing

On, Hong and Hans continue to be precious and adorable. Hans tries to take such good care of him. Love that he took the time to prepare jerky for them. He’s so sweet. I said it before I’ll say it again. Another day, another reason to love Hans

And Hans is right. Their sassiness is cute. Cute and terrifying. This novel does that type of thing better than most

The image I have in my head of Choi Han just peacefully sat eating his soup next to Cale and the kittens as all the other knights keep just glancing at him in uncertainty and Cale internally curses him for catching rabbits of all things, while Hans tries to get the cats to pay attention to him. I love it. It’s times like this I wish I could actually draw.

Choi Han asserting dominance. Also the start of Choi Han’s weird well I didn’t manage to kill them but I did manage to cut off a limb and permanently maimed them thing that happens a couple times that I remember. These bandits then Redika.

And the vice captain learns a valuable lesson luckily before he pisses off Choi Han too much

That must be humiliating for the bandits, having to admit they lost to 5 knights even if one of them was really strong. All their bandit friends and rivals will make fun of them. They become the laughing stock of the bandit community. And all because they tried to steal from Cale Henituse while Choi Han was there. Big mistake

It’s so fun watching Choi Han terrify and intimidate people. And he seems so pleased with himself.

Choi Han also enjoys messing people but I guess that makes sense. I feel like to be an ally of Cale’s you have to be a little shit at least slightly. It’s a fairly big part of the job description.

I feel like everyone likes messing with Cale tbf. He’s fun to tease and mess with

Ok it’s time to discuss the whole conversation Choi Han and Cale have here. First of all him saying I’ve never seen so many bandits before instead of just saying yeas as an overall answer is really smart form the author. Lets the audience know that this probably isn’t the first battle he’s seen, just with bandits and in-world, he’s lying without lying, because why would the trash Cale have seen a battle? He hasn’t left the Henituse territory in what, 2 years? And no one calls him out on this so it must be true that he’s never encounters bandits or a battle. In this story wording is everything. Ok so I know Choi Han doesn’t really know much about Cale but the whole “this must be your first time facing death” thing is really interesting to me. It shows how, when Choi Han thinks of death, he thinks of battles and violence.  Because even if Cale has never faced a battle before, illnesses still exist, right? Like, there are many ways you could die, and many near death experiences you could face that have nothing to do with violence. That’s without taking into account the KRS element. And this thinking does make sense. Most of the death he’s seen has been due to violence. I just think it’s interesting that, in Choi Han’s mind death is associated most with battles and violence. But the thing is I don’t think at this point Cale really thinks anyone at this point is going to kill him, but he is still nervous around them purely because they’re dangerous and main characters and he doesn’t want to get involved, or so he claims. I don’t think I actually explained that how I meant. Basically he’s  scared of the possibilities of what they could do but realistically he knows these things won’t happen, at least subconsciously. Idk Cale, maybe he keeps talking to you because, and this might be a stretch and I’m really grasping at straws here, but maybe the reason he keeps talking to you is that he likes you. Or maybe that you keep answering him. Idk though.

Ok and this the whole I trust in my heart I’ll be okay. Now, he’s talking about the Indestructible Sheild, and we know that and it makes sense to us… but no one else knows he has the indstructible shield. So when he says he doesn’t need to know martial arts, points out the people around him as a reason why and then says that he trusts in his heart he’ll be okay, all they hear is I trust you as my guards to keep me safe. Of course that motivates them, you’ve seemingly just put your full trust in them to keep you safe not just because it’s their job and they’re supposed to, but because you, as a person, actually trust them to do it. And then you’re somehow shocked when they want to train more. They want to ensure that your trust isn’t misplaced. Cale, I know you know things they don’t, but this is why we’re careful with what we say.  Because Choi Han isn’t a mind reader so for him all he knows is what he sees and here’s so for Choi Han, this is that conversation word for word, starting from:

Choi Han: Cale-nim, do you not study any martial arts?

Cale: no need

Choi Han: shouldn’t you at least have the strength to protect yourself.

Cale: I have plenty of ways already *looks at the people around him* you can see them too right? *smiles* *pats heart* I trust my heart. I will live.

And funnily enough that’s also what everyone else hears. They don’t know about the indestructible shield, so to them when he says about trust, he’s talking about them. He’s so clueless, so dumb, and somehow so good at motivating people. This may happen a few more times, me showing a conversation without Cale’s thoughts to show what everyone actually hears just because I feel like it proves some of my points better and explains it better than I could. It also gives you a better idea of which conversation I’m talking about. It won’t be constant or all the time but when talking about misunderstandings that could’ve been avoided if Cale just remembered people weren’t mind readers who knew what he meant, I’ll occasionally do this. As I said it probably won’t be often. But anyways, I know a huge part of Cale’s character is that he’s oblivious and causes misunderstandings but how does he not realise they’re obviously going to think he’s talking about them here? What does he plan for them to think?

This is why I can’t feel sorry for him when these misunderstandings happen. He actually brings it on himself. Honestly reading these conversations while taking out his thoughts really helps you understand what everyone who isn’t Cale sees and hears and really puts it into a new perspective where it’s easier to understand their reactions and the understandings, and shows how utterly avoidable these reactions and situations are. And it actually makes it more entertaining for when you read his surprise or confusion. Like it’s easy enough to understand anyway but when put like this it’s like yeah there’s not really another way they could’ve taken that with what they know

So honest question how many times do you think the characters in this novel have looked at Cale and thought he was being cute and it’s just never mentioned because Cale never noticed it? Like they’ve just looked at him and gone “aww!” I reckon for Ron it’s a daily occurrence he’ll never met. And anytime he sees money or is presented with good food and gets happy or excited. When he interacts with Raon or the cat siblings. When he says certain things or does certain things. Because Cale is kind of adorable in his own right and just doesn’t realise it, doesn’t realise how precious he is, and I feel like everyone lowkey platonically simps for him and I think that’s perfectly valid. Again they have weekly gossip sessions where they just gush and worry about him. Ooh they share photos they took when he wasn’t paying attention, not embarrassing ones, but just moments they thought he was being cute.

Wait so the lemonade is specifically prepared by Ron, right? And the lemon tea by Beacrox? I love that the implication here is that Ron brought lemons along for the sole purpose of teasing Cale. Like that’s hilarious. God I love Ron and the lemon torture sm.

Yes, Choi Han motivated Hilsman. I’m not gonna say he didn’t but once again Cale doesn’t realise he’s also motivated him, and he’d probably be horrified if he knew. But Choi Han does also motivate Hilsman and provides some sort of level Hilsman wants the knights to achieve. Choi Han teaches him not to underestimate and encourages him to get stronger just by being present, but Cale encourages them with words and boosts their morale. That’s what’s he’s best at raising morale, boosting confidence, anything that has to do with speaking really. He somehow knows even without realising it what people need to hear to motivate them. The best way to put it is Choi Han is physical motivation and Cale is mental/emotional motivation, if you know what I mean. I’m bad at explaining things but hopefully you get my point.

My god they’re so dumb. The cave is right behind the villa so, logically, something goe wrong, those living in the villa will be killed first. Dumb, arrogant, careless. There are so many ways Venion and the Marquis are so dumb. The worlds where Taylor dies and doesn’t take over this family? I have no hope for them. Maybe one of his siblings is better? Idk, we don’t really know much about the other Stans but I can’t imagine they’d be much better if they have this Marquis as their father.

Honestly Venion is so pathetic. I can’t wait to see him get destroyed again. I remember the torture being satisfying to read the first time. I can’t imagine that will change

I’m sorry I know this probably isn’t the intent but Hans walked over with Choi Han when Cale was upset/angry and my brain just went aww he brought the emotional support Choi Han and I can’t unthink it. Choi Han  is so emotional support and I love that. like I know that’s not really what/how it happened but idk I like the idea of, whenever Cale is upset or angry, someone just going to get Choi Han. The kids are already there obviously.

Cale: I just want to get Choi Han away from me

Also Cale, whenever Choi Han goes literally anywhere away from him: stay safe, and take this medicine, and hurry back and - *continues to act like a concerned parent and fuss about Choi Han*

Choi Han, who lost one family and has quickly gained another: I’ll never let anything happen to you and I love you and I’ll never leave you for too long and- *continues to platonically simp for Cale and is just so happy because he has somewhere to return to and a family and all the things he thought he’d lost forever*

Choi Han calling Cale sir just feels so weird to me. Like Cale-nim fine, but sir? Idk it doesn’t feel right.

Ah yes, Cale’s bad feelings. You’ve gotta love them.

Cale really can’t catch a break, can he? Choi Han leaves his side for two seconds and this BS happens. Well, guess that settles it, Choi Han can never leave Cale again. Every time he does, things like this (Marquis Stan’s carriage) happen. Or he brings back more people than he left with, and that’s clearly Cale’s thing, it can’t be both of their thing.

Once again, Cale gets involved when he doesn’t really have to. If Choi Han punches Marquis Stan I think that would be deserved. Probably for the best he didn’t though. That would not end well for Choi Han as funny and deserved as it would be.

I mean chances are, before he got out of the carriage, they didn’t really know Choi Han was with him? I’d say it’s a 50/50 chance they knew before then, but also it seems like these people are just like that, and would’ve reacted the same if Choi Han wasn’t with Cale, only maybe even worse.

the chapel is a likely location for the gold at the moment? once again, battler didn't find any secrets but he's a dumbass. there's text on the chapel that they don't give us probably because it'd be too much of a hint? george says "i think it went 'm' 'b' 't' 'q'" and we get no info as to what that means. even if his last theory was "happy halloween maria" is referring to the virgin mary (lol) i'd like to know what he's referring to here

my theory for the kanon & jessica Locked Door is my theory for basically all the locked doors. the door is open, it is locked while open, Crimes happen, the key is placed inside the room, and then it is closed with beato outside the room. i wouldn't call this "locking it from the outside". this isn't possible with every kind of lock but they don't let us inspect the lock. the alternative is a servant's key being stolen and returned without noticing

battler is pretty foolish to be so certain that none of the 18 were involved in the murders. player-battler didn't see kanon and jessica's fight or the adults at the chapel, does he only see what piece-battler sees?

if battler was defeated and believed in beatrice but I, the player, didn't, would that still be game over? i'm seeing scenes he doesn't that are trying to convince me magic is real...

the pieces can't say "we saw (fake?) kanon use magic" in front of piece-battler but the instant he's not in the room they can. of course

humans evolving to combat demons? das crazy

so i've been thinking. about the shinazugawa family. and how both sanemi and genya each have a special thing about them that seems to help them survive against demons. and that got me really thinking.

humans probably developed certain traits to survive. during the demon slayer canon, demons had been around for at least a thousand years, which is plenty of time to create defense mechanisms against this overpowered apex predator.

so stuff like marechi and the whole demon eating thing are probably some sort of genetic mutation passed down through families, with marechi being the most common given that it's a blood type and not special organs.

this may also apply to mitsuri's increased muscle density; none of her siblings or parents were ever mentioned to have this, so it's likely either a recessive gene or mutation. this ties in to her increased appetite- her body dedicates most of the nutrients and sustenance she eats towards her muscles, so if she doesn't eat enough, she'll starve easily.

it's safe to assume that there's some sort of drawback to these traits, though. including mitsuri's increased danger of starvation. i also like to think that marechis have a natural resistance towards death- you can't kill them as easily as other people. however, they have poor eyesight (sanemi's colorblindness, even though it was trauma induced that doesn't just happen) and are more prone to conditions such as albinism (which sanemi likely has some form of. look at his hair. i'd say kyogo isn't the father but they look way too similar so. albinism it is).

as for the special digestive system/demon eating one, that is nowhere near as common as marechi or enhanced senses, but it's certainly happened a few times before. it was mentioned in the manga that kokushibo had encountered a slayer who did the same. there are likely other similar abilities, and the tradeoff is the lack of innate talent.

innate talent could be considered a dormant gene, and fighting demons can activate it in most people who have it. it was mentioned in regards to genya, who said he lacked it and it was the reason he couldn't use breathing styles. innate talent involves increased reflexes, the abillity to use total concentration breathing, and requiring less sleep. this particular trait is usually associated with enhanced senses and unusual hair and/or eye colors. some of these people have the potential to unlock the demon slayer mark. those with innate talent are also less likely to scar, which is why almost every character in that show has perfect skin.

enhances senses... where do i begin. i mean, they're observed in various people throughout the series, the prime examples being the main characters- the "kamaboko squad". those with enhanced senses are a subgroup of the innate talent group- you can have the first without the second but not the second without the first. however, they're also seen with many "survivor" characters- those who have survived the impossible or are the only ones left. these were simply developed to help evade and combat demons, and the people who have them are more likely to move up the ranks.

well. it's time to discuss yoriichi. the world really said "oh look a child to test our new invention on" and threw the demon slayer mark at him. he has innate talent, though it seems to be the most prominent in him as he not only has the potential to develop the demon slayer mark, he always had it and the power it granted. yoriichi never had any descendants, so this type of natural power was never really seen again. yoriichi was the first to truly utilize innate talent to the fullest, creating breathing styles that suited everyone's individual skills (and enhanced senses, if they had them). he really jumpstarted the whole shebang, honestly.

i'm done writing for now but i might make a follow-up/sequel to this sometime. idk.

Captain America #5, Case #1: Captain America and the Ringmaster of Death

Steve and Bucky go to the circus on their day off, where they happen to run into General Blaine

Bucky plays a game of chance, and we learn that Bucky's lucky number is the number 7.

Unfortunately for our dynamic duo, their day off (? Idk, they're both still in uniform?) is about to get ruined (as it usually does) because the ringmaster of this circus just so happens to be a nazi sympathizer, with intentions to murder the nazis' biggest foes. This is the usual assortment of high ranking military officials, FBI Agent Betty Ross, and of course, Captain America himself, and Bucky.

The ringmaster chooses who's going to be his next victim by spinning his Wheel of Death (TM), because all comic book villains have to have some convoluted way of committing their crimes.

Once again, our villain uses a member of a vulnerable population to do his bidding, against his will.

The murder method of choice in this instance is to let the tiger out of its cage (Yes/YES/The tiger is out), which then promptly kills General Blaine and, I guess, tries to eat him.

Since the vast majority of these cases are written to be like murder mysteries, and there's always 1-2 (or more) murders per case, I feel like the American Army has to be on the verge of running out of high ranking officers. Either that, or they're promoting people to general after, like, a week. The life expectancy of a general stationed near Camp Lehigh must be about the same as the life expectancy of a captain on the Death Star.

Steve magical girl transforms into Captain America, and then kills the tiger with his *bare hands*.

Steve, that tiger was probably mistreated, underfed and starving. Ahem. Anyway.

Then we get another installment of my favorite Captain America trope: Steve getting in trouble for doing Captain America things when he's supposed to be on duty.

While peeling potatoes, Agent Ross stops by, and Steve uses *himself* as his own secret identity to bolster his argument. Never change, Steve.

Betty goes to warn the defense commissioner that he may be next, but the warning comes too late, as he's already in the process of being murdered, this time via the snake charmer and a venomous snake.

Steve also turns up at the defense commissioner's, opting to ditch potato peeling duty, but, obviously, doesn't get there in time. And Betty gets kidnapped by the circus performers.

The ringmaster is not thrilled that Captain America decided to get involved again, so he decides to spin his magical wheel of death, and what do you know, it lands on Captain America.

Me thinks Betty Ross might be developing a bit of a crush.

As expected, Steve turns up and finds Betty dangling from the top of the circus tent. And then he and Bucky swoop in on a trapeze(!) and rescue her.

And finally, the villain is defeated, Steve disappears into the night, and Agent Betty Ross laments that she didn't even get to thank him.

Okay, the oracles helped me more than these cards, I was confusion for a minute. You have no patience with “the before”, 7 Wands at the bottom and Defense at the bottom of the oracles, it’s an absolute no from you from anyone who may try. Pride is here too, it’s playing into this, but it’s an afterthought. Justice is the main goal, you’re being logical, and feeling you are morally justified in being defensive of something. An apology. Good news for someone else. Maybe your own good news that someone acts a way about. You expect support from *your* people, I’m getting this is one of them, not just some random acquaintance.

Judgement rev:

You may have misjudged someone, or they’ve misjudged you, probably both. There could be someone in the middle feeding you both information, could be someone’s partner. If not, then you just refuse to reopen the door to someone who has stabbed you in the back 10 times, in your mind this is a betrayal and you don’t need people like that in your life. If someone hurt you, this can just be saying YOU’RE not going to do anything, why would you? Is it what you want, no, and that’s where all of this confusion plays in your head. Theory! I think Hasegawa is the culprit here based on three four things:

1. Yanagi, Mai, and Hiroaki didn’t find him in his dorm — hinted by Yanagi saying “Where the hell is Hasegawa?!” — so he was somewhere else at the time, but somewhere near by.

2. While they were in the pool, Hasegawa said “How did we start a fire?” — like as if he was included. It would make more sense for him to say “how did a fire start?” or something like that if he wasn’t involved.

If he’s the killer, I’m betting it was either an accident (like he was trying to help Watari and Hama out with the PC, he accidentally started a fire and burned someone to death, panicked and fled) or that he just . . . Gave up. Like had some depressing thought that they were never going to get out (like the scientists would kill the survivors anyways because they’d want to get rid of loose ends) so he fell into a “I’m going to put myself and everyone else out of our misery already” mindset. Which he probably wouldn’t have fallen into if he had his meds to help him think clearly, but he doesn’t.

A few things saving Hasegawa tho!

1. Bro is a terrible liar and he genuinely sounded confused — not much weight to it, but still. I don’t think he learned how to lie that well in under 3 weeks. If he is lying the self-preservation is really helping his acting skills.

2. He could have just been in Kamimura’s room instead. I doubt that they were looking for people in other people’s rooms. If he was in Kamimura’s room saying goodbyes and all that, they he wouldn’t have heard the knock on his door, but would have eventually heard the commotion.

3. He said “we” because he was just referring to the student body in general, because he knows one of the students must have done it.

4. In general, Ken values human life and I don’t think his fear of the dark +(mourning Kamimura) is necessarily equal to the stress Hitomi was under and he doesn’t have a tiger. But I might be wrong about that.

5. He opted to stay in his room because last time he went he got bonked so hard that he was knocked unconscious. Like, idk how food worked for him but he has water in his bathroom. He could probably do it.

I hope it’s not Ken but I am preparing myself for it to be. I really want him to get out.

yeah i feel like it's unlikely but maybe that's just delusion,, I feel like he might be a red herring for a bit with his absence but I just can't see him having actually done it yk? but ig we'll find out :')

LMAO sorry, I was scrolling down and Idk how tf I deleted it, I just noticed now that you mentioned it. And don't worry, more than privacy issues, it's because of the language. The report is in spanish and since I'm majoring in veterinary medicine, it's full of words and terms that may not be too familiar.

Anyways, to summarize, I was given three diseases that cause necrosis and I had to follow up a number of cases of said diseases:

-Cutaneous vasculitis in dogs and cats (specifically speaking of vasculitis that develops in the pinna (the visible portion of the outer ear): pinnal vasculitis).

-Epizootic haematopoietic necrosis virus or EHNV, an infectious disease that affects fish (it appears to affect only rainbow trouts and redfin perchs in the cases that have appeared near my country. In other parts of the world it can affect a large variety of other fish) and causes necrosis in the liver, spleen and haematopoietic tissue of the kidneys.

-Necrotizing fasciitis involving severe systemic toxicity (necrotizing fasciitis type II or streptococcal necrotizing fasciitis), which is a very rare but lethal bacterial infection that affects the skin and soft tissues.

For the first one, I had to treat 5 patients with different stages of necrosis (some had to get part of their ears removed (partial pinnectomy) to prevent the necrotic tissue to affect other areas), and write down the treatment I gave for 2 months and give a report on the outcome. Fortunately, the 5 doggies are now okay, even if part of their ears had to be amputated.

For the second one, I had to go to a fish farm where they had similar cases to EHNV a few years ago, to talk to the person in charge of those cases and collect data of, again, treatment and the results of it

Finally, for the third one, I had to do a thorough investigation on cases about necrotizing fasciitis since, fortunately, imo, is a very uncommon disease. Most of the cases could end up in death but recently, the mortality rate has decreased a lil bit since the diagnosis it's more efficient now. Surgery to remove the necrotic soft tissue is also more advanced (at least, where I am from and currently live, such surgeries where nothing more than a fool's dream to perform them in animals) and we're more accurate with the antibiotics we prescribe.

That's about it, a whole ass book if you ask me, but pretty important since we have to add this information to our (my classmates and mine's) medical knowledge and experience. This is the result of a whole semester's work 💀 and it was kinda cool seeing and visiting a fish farm for the first time.

In that game, the list of impressive games have gradually dwindled to something smaller; Either because of the impending end of flash, or the crowd of old web users getting significantly older.

Here's a list of cool games and accounts I thought were pretty impressive for their time (in no particular order):

1- PAULHTML5 :

This guy makes impressive HTML5 games; which at the time (2011), not many people could run well. the outrun and doom clones are my favourite. (3d pacman too)

2-Secret Base:

They made a few indie games I liked, notably Bytejacker with its sleek presentation. I hated it at the time for its inclusive indie game nods, but it grew on me eventually; a lot of work when into it.They also made Tobe's hookshot

3-IntMain:

One of my favourite games; SuperPuzzlePlatformer was made by this fella. He also has a website That may or may not be still around at AndrewMorris.net

4-Jamus-SE:

I've poured a ton of hours into Ronin: Spirit of the Sword; Its this 80s Dungeon Crawler RPG Clone. it was one of the games that got around flash's limitations, it was also really well done. I don't really care much for the dated henty drawings, but it was probably done for the clout back then in 2003. (Hard to say). Excellent game 5/5

5- RissKiss:

I had to move back home in Autumn 2011; when I did I wanted to make a football game cuz fuck idk; RissKiss beat me to it with SuperStarFootball. It didnt run very well at the time and left something to be desired, but I grew up with a small undesirable percentage of sports games, wondering how they were programmed (like Ascii pro moves soccer), so this impressed me, for what it did with its limitations

6- MoFunZone:

If you remember Starcraft Madness UMS maps, Miragine War plays very similar to those; you pick a bunch of units to prepare, and send them toward the enemy base; its a lot like the Overmind/Madness UMS games from starcraft bnet.

7- FreeAsNerd:

I didnt really like Fixation at the peak of the indie game hype, but the loading screen and the blocks disappearing from cigarette smoke make for an interesting game, although stay away from it , if indie game tropes aren't your thing.

8- Pigpen:

There aren't many games like SpriteSmash where I can play as either Jack from FightClub, or Light Yagami from Death note. I didnt get very far but fwiw its a funny game.

9- Raitendo:

FreeWill has a neat mechanic. His joke indie game knock offs came out during a time when people were sick of the hype surrounding them?? something like that. I had a giggle idk

10-LIDGAMES:

HandHeldVG, was too meta for me; you break out of a gameboy near the end, (SPOILERS). I forgothow though.

As time went on, the list of cool games kinda dwindled, and more of the concentrated games without gimmicks or heavy NG lore would go to kongregate, but as flash is slowly coming back, sites like orisinal and picapic (LED tiger game simulator site which isnt working) are making a tiny resurgence, although not like it once was during their heyday.

This isn't a top10 list of great games -- Don't go looking for your favourites: Abobo, SmashFest etc aren't listed cuz that game already rules and couldn't impress me any further if it tried. These are games that personally inspired or intrigued me.

I'd later go on to make my own Contra Clone, Tetris Clone, and an ActionRPG with a rewind function (which Ive reuploaded several times with much shame involved), inspired by the authors above

So whatever.
