Hey, Ms. Secret Service! - Chapter 1Â
Working at the NCIS as a pilot you met a bunch of strange and slightly crazy people.Â
Tim was unfortunately shy, but so cute! Since he was the probie in Team Gibbs he was pranked by his teammates Tony and Kate very often.Â
Tony was very good looking and a womanizer, but in all honesty, he didn't get as many women as the teamleader Gibbs.
That one was a silver fox, which talks rarely, but had a quick mind and very fascinating ice blue eyes.Â
A woman was a member of the team, too. Her name was Kate and she always seemed to have to prove herself. At every opportunity she tells the people that she was approved yankee white and was handpicked to protect the president in the secret service. Oh, man.Â
She could be nice, if she wanted. But most of the time she bickered with Tony and was a little bit arrogant, as if she was the best of the best. To that you only rolled with your eyes.Â
Yes, she protected the president, but the others were really good, too.Â
And you? You were just a trained pilot who flew several missions since you completed your pilot training. Your duty was to fly the people in a dangerous place or to fly them out of there. Okay, you had just done that multiple times, but that's your job. No need to get pretentious.Â
In this point you were like Gibbs. Nothing goes without coffee and you had completed numerous commitments, but you didn't spoke of them.Â
So you continue to observe the team, roll occasionally with your eyes and think your part.Â
One day Kate was particularly bitchy. And she was once again going on about âI was handpicked to protect the presidentâ and looked at you as if you were a bug under her shoes.Â
Gibbs seemed to like her, so you tried to keep your calm. But every person has a point of no return and explodes.Â
So you just looked up at her and said coolly âthat's nice. But I don't want to be yankee white. I'm only here to fly your asses out of dangerous situations and that's enough for me.â
âYou are very self-confident yourself!â she immediately argued. To that you narrowed your eyes and answered âyes. Yes I am self-confident. Because if I am not self-confident up there, I am dead. And with me my possible passengers.â
With that you sipped from your coffee, turned and walked back to your desk. Leaving Kate standing behind you and gaping at you like a fish. Nobody said a word and there was a lot of tension in the air.Â
Gibbs stood slowly at his desk and looked at you both âany problems?â You both answered ânoâ shaking your heads, so he said âgoodâ and sat back in his chair again.
An hour later you packed your things. Seeing that, Tim asked âY/N, where are you going?â
âFlight Training. Today with an airplane, because the helicopter needs to be repaired. You wanna come with me?â you answered.Â
He considered âyeah, I would very much like to go and watch.â
Turning to Gibbs he asked âBoss?âÂ
Gibbs looked up considering the question and said âgood idea, McGee. Since we have no case to solve at the moment, we are all going to watch. Tim, get the truck. Y/N, you with me. Let's go.â
With that he threw the keys to Tim, got his own keys, gun and badge and walked towards the elevator with everyone running behind and following him. And so you all headed to the airport.Â
The drive to get there was mainly silent as it was always with Gibbs. But just as you pondered why you had to drive with him in the car and how it had come that now the whole team was watching you, he said âwhat are you training today?âÂ
Surprised you answered âlanding with a standing engine and getting out of a spin. Haven't trained this for 3 months.â
âWhat plane are you flying?âÂ
âToday a Cessna T206H a very reliable and flexible bush plane - it's one of my favorites.âÂ
To that he only nodded and then you were on the airport, exiting the car and walking to the others.
But before you could say anything you heard âhey, Y/N! You ready to crash and burn?â You were greeted laughingly from your former flight trainer and now friend, who was patting you on your back.Â
âHey John! Of course! I'm as ready as one can beâ you greeted back.Â
âI'm taking Sally today. Is she ready to fly?â
âYeah, you can directly start with the pre-flight check and then start.â
âThat's good. You know she's the best next to the little sheepâ you nodded.Â
âYeah, I know you love them bothâ he laughed.Â
Then you took a look at your colleagues who were standing nearby and asked him âLook, since the weather conditions are really good todayâŚthink it's safe to take passengers with me for the adventure?â
John looked at Kate, Tim, Tony and Gibbs and began laughing out loud âthese greenhorns? They don't look like they know what awaits them. But yeah, no problem. But make sure that they will clean the plane, when they puke because of fear.â The two of you were laughing madly.Â
âOkay, see you for the instructionsâÂ
âYeah, I'm comingâ
Then you turned to Tim, Tony and Kate looking shocked towards you and said shrugging your shoulders âwhat? That's normal training. You have to train this so that you know what to do, if the worst case happens.â
Gibbs only narrowed his eyes âyou sure of what you do?âÂ
âYes. I've done this multiple times. Sure, there is always the possibility to really crash and burn, but when you are thinking about that, you should not flyâ you stated.Â
Looking to Kate you smirked devilish âhey, Ms. Secret Service. Already crashed today?âÂ
She only blanched horrifiedâŚ.Â

The character of Tobias Fornell (played by Joe Spano) was part of the very first episode of NCIS, but without a history with any of the team then. That was retconned as Spano kept appearing, with Fornell and Mark Harmonâs Gibbs ending up going way back. And so the prequel, NCIS: Origins, has a rich history with which to play with Austin Stowellâs Gibbs and the young Fornell (Lucas Dixon), who has now been introduced. (Itâs a relationship Stowell wants to explore.)
Dixon appeared in Episode 6 when Franks (Kyle Schmid) and Wheeler (Patrick Fischler) met with an FBI agent for intel on a case. That agent called over âTobiasâ to share what heâd found, which the young man did while snacking on tacos, much to Franksâ annoyance. He also rubbed Franks the wrong way for not thinking of the obvious fact that just because their person of interest had an alibi for a murder didnât mean he wasnât potentially buying intel from the killer.
â[Fornellâs] such an interesting character, and of course the original Fornell played by Joe Spano, who I just adore â Gina [Lucita Monreal] and I both really think itâs poetic that Fornell appeared in the pilot of what was then Navy NCIS, âYankee White,â and to bring him in early I think was a really a no-brainer,â co-showrunner David J. North tells TV Insider. What helped seal the deal? âWhen we found an actor that we just thought had Joeâs look and mannerisms down perfect.â
Will Dixon return as Tobias? And what will we see between him and Gibbs, since there is that backstory to explore? âWe would love to see Young Fornell come back,â says North. âAnd stay tuned. That might be happening sooner rather than later.â
There are quite a few other characters across the NCIS shows whose younger versions could show up on the prequel. All North would say is that we âpossiblyâ will see others this season.
âI donât want to give anything away with that. We really wanted to keep it secret about young Fornell appearing, and I think it was better that we did that,â he explains. âPeople were really, really surprised. But I definitely saw on the internet there was a lot of talk after Episode 6. So we want to hold those, keep those close to the vest.â

NCIS Reaction: Yankee Whites
Wench (@scripted-downfall) reacts [with (maybe) occasional asides by Jezebel (@typicalopposite)]
The honorable Introductory Conversation, for your viewing pleasure:
Wench: Iâm only halfway through my workkkkk. Jezebel: OOOOOF *two minutes later* Wench: Ya know what, heck it. Episode now, work later. Cool? Jezebel: YESSSS. Donât forget to send me the link too. I wanna watch with â ď¸ I can just work while I do it Wench: kjl;kadjf okay. I'm gonna dish out some soup first, though. Jezebel: đđđ ok! Wench: I'm gonna get coffee too Jezebel: You bastaddd Wench: Oh shit, I already had coffee Jezebel: đđ Wench: I thought I'd finished that half an hour ago a;lskdfj. Clearly it's not doing its jobÂ
I know that our random introductions are amazing, so I gift you with more! Anyway, on to the epâŚ
â â â
That opening screen felt like the opening to a Dark Angel alskdfj
New guys are always suspicious; never trust new recruits
[Kateee]Â idk who Kate is, but sheâs apparently important
Well, I guess they know each other. But still
Always expect problems. YES! Exactly!
[Welp. Look at that. A problem] Maâam, what art thou doing. [This isnât even my reaction. I canât help it]
Wait. Didn't he already meet her?
Well shite, buddy's dying.
âWhatâs wrong with him?â DO YOU NOT SEE THE FROTH MADAM ASDLKFJASLDKFJALDKFJ
The president is the murderer, obviously
Whoa, damn. That's an impressive boat
LOGAN Er. Tony. I mean.
âIf we had our own jet-â kasjdf;lksadjf
"Details are sketchy" I see you, Sketchy-from-Dark-Angel reference
alksdjflaksdjf THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T TALK IN ACRONYMS
âNCIS. Never heard of itâ They never have
âOnly if youâre dyslexicâ Damn, Logan, go off
Loving the recurring conversation about the jet alskdfj
[Ducky] idk who Ducky is either, but cool!
Y'ALL. STOP TALKING IN ACRONYMS.
Y'all, please, consider the foam. Please. That is the best clue you've freaking got.
"Looks like a natural death to me" I'M SORRY?!!??!?! WHAT THE- WHAT
Stop. talking. about. food. and focus. on the possible. poisoning. [Just wait lol]
I. I'm not sure this is how things are supposed to work.
alaksdjflsakdjfl;ksadfj THIS TIME IT'S LOGAN (er. Tony) WHO'S STUCK STARING AT THE CONFLICTUAL TENSION FROM THE OUTSIDE
Y'all, handshakes aren't supposed to last that long; now you're just holding hands (cough cough)
They're. Taking the plane.
I once again am about 99% certain this isn't how things work
This. Is veryyyy suspect.
lkjas;ldkfjas; Tony, sir. Now who's a cocky, "happy-go-lucky sociopath."
Y'all, please stop ranting about a model on a magazine and FOCUS ON THE DEAD BODY
I greatly appreciate the Air Force One references
How do you not know liver temp stuff; it's in, like, any CSI episode. Which clearly exists in this universe
I'm sorry, why. Why. Please stop. Liver temp isn't that accurate
[Good luck keeping up with all the rules]
Tony is indeed Alec-coded, ngl. And I actually like him okay in this one, thus far. Cocky little shit? Yes. Decently acted? Thus far. Aka: not bad, currently. [Jezebel: đđđđđđ]
MA'AM DO NOT PUT YOUR GLOVES OVER YOUR MOUTH THAT DEFEATS THE POINT OF GLOVES
I swear, every single organization in these kinds of shows are represented as the underdog. CTU in 24; NCIS in, well, NCIS; CSI in, oh yeah, CSI. Yâall donât have to make your organizations cool by making them the unknown-but-not-to-be-underestimated group
I'm. I'm sorry, but what is Tony's job? Is he the crime scene photographer/sketch artist or an interviewer or-? [Comedic relief â ď¸] NOOOO [I mean he is] FAIR
THE PHOTOGRAPH SCENE IS BEAUTIFUL
"Or the only presidential detail you'll get will be walking Spotty"Â ngl, walking the dog doesn't sound too bad
"Where's the body?" "I don't know" ⌠Not that convincing, bud
âNever say youâre sorryâ What rule is that?
Oh, damn, no crocheting it? That poor rule feels so unappreciated
alksdjf They're going to solve the case off of that few-ribs-and-coleslaw evidence, I call it now
NOOOOO TONYÂ ASJLDFKJA;SDLKFJA;LSKDFJÂ Oof
Okay, I admit, that was hilarious
Was that President Logan from 24? I only got a glimpse (I think it was)
â â â
So, I confess that I kinda forgot until a bit past halfway, but Iâm gonna keep up the midpoint reaction thing for these. SOâŚÂ Â
It's more enjoyable than I've expected thus far, I'm gonna be honest. Currently --- and idk how I feel about saying this, but... *sigh*, I guess I will --- Tony is indeed top character. Then Ducky. Then, I guess, Kate, but I don't feel strongly. [Yusss! Successs! đđđđ love it! Also. You havenât met Abby yet] This is true! It does kinda annoy me, however, that they stillllllll seem to be ignoring the fact that the guy had white foam coming out of his mouth because THAT IS A SYMPTOM THAT CAN GIVE THEM A HEADS-UP ABOUT WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN THE AUTOPSY but anyway⌠*clears throat, calms self* Not bad thus far! [â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸]
Now Iâm gonna go get that coffee. Back in a few :)
â â âÂ
Coffee is obtained; onward we go!
ABBY NAME DROP
"What's this?"Â "A mole"Â Buddy, leave it to the experts aslkdfj
Sir. Sir. Why are you trying to sleep on the autopsy table. [Cause buddy donât sleep] AND AN AUTOPSY TABLE WILL HELP? [Be prepared for sad ass back story for Gibbs. Idk what ep]
Health snacks are poison
SEE, SOMEONE HAS ACTUAL BEDS
"Bless you"Â "What are you, my priest?"Â "... Curse you?"Â Abby, I like you already
HER GLOVE. Iâm obsessed [đđđ]
lkajsdlfkjsad;lkfj not going after the diet!!!
How can anyone trust what NCIS says at this point? They're legitimately lying constantly.
I. Don't trust this "natural death"
He said please! [I love that you say that⌠Just wait] ABBYYYYYY
Y'all, it wasn't a stroke.
CHECK THE DRINKKKKK They don't mention shit unless it's important
Oof. The Ted-centric scene is a bit sus- OI WHAT DID I SAY
I confess that I didnât expect him to die, but whatever. I called it.
âHeâs here because his gut is still churning, isnât it?â At least itâs not poisoned (yet)
NCIS = Naval Criminal Investigative Service, I see
Yâall. Why are you eating. On a plane. Where you canât see the preparation. When a guy died there. Yesterday.
Maâam, the fact that you feel the need to justify your choices is telling. This is very Max-justifying-Eric-coded, just saying
âEveryone on-board has been vetted by usâ Yeah, and the body was allegedly secured by you too, but that ended up being Tony, so.
I love Abby's necklace
That hair is not laboratory-regulation-compliant, but I ignore this for style
"Doesn't appear to be a robbery" Y'ALL. THE FOAM. I'M BEGGING YOU.
Abby, you're adorable and I love you
I SAIDDDDDDD THAT IT WAS A TOXIN. I SAIDDDDD [You did indeeeeed]
You know, maybe, if youâd considered what poisons cause frothing at the mouth, youâd have gotten there faster
Oh, damn, poor... uh. first dude. I feel bad for not knowing his name
Damn, Alec-coded characters get no rest; leave Tony alone [Moooood]
Two people in the bathroom isn't suspicious at allllll
THEY WERE THERE FOR A DRINK. IN PUBLIC. HOW DO YOU THINK SHE GOT THE POISON SOAKED INTO HIS UNIFORM IN PUBLIC. THEY WEREN'T DOING COITAL SHIT IN THE DAMN BAR (Just to be clear, I understand that it was a test. But still. It's a stupid test.)
Gibbs, you're kinda an ass. Just saying. [Tis true. You grow to love him but he is lol]
This is so hectic. The President's whole staff boutta get killed by snakes that aren't even in the room. [And another one bites the dust. Iâm tired of these mfing snakes on this mfing plane ]
Y'all. Pay attention to the suspicious guy who immediately turns away
LKSAJFDLKADSJF THE MOVIE. THEYâRE DOING THE BLOODY MOVIE
Iâm crying. Thatâs hilarious.
But also. How tf did Air Force One not change stuff after the movie.
What was the plan there. How was that possibly gonna do anything.
Oh, no, not the paperwork
Kate gonna go work at NCIS⌠Maybe you can have relationships with supervisors there
"Pull that crap at NCIS, I won't give you a chance to resign" mmmhmmm
"FBI this", "Secret Service" that⌠Poor NCIS, getting no love on the television
ngl, I don't think I'd *want* that attention. Attention means attention for the good, but also attention for the bad
AND WEâRE DONE!
â â â
Unlike Jezebel, Iâm cool enough to give you my summary reaction at the end of the liveblogging post, soâŚFirst episode was decent! I'm not in the practice of judging a show by the pilot --- The X Files proved that one, as did Dark Angel (well... the entire first season was misleading, technically) and a number of others --- but it was decent! And I'm willing to keep watching for (currently) Tony and Abby, so. I'll do another episode today, I think, and then switch back to my work. See if I can fit in another at the end of that. Savvy? [Sounds good đ]

NCIS: Origins is coming! And with the show, which will focus on the origins of one Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon in NCIS and Austin Stowell in NCIS: Origins), set to premiere on CBS on October 14, it's worth revisiting the question of what we already know of the backstory of such an iconic character. Gibbs was, after all, the lead character on NCIS for almost two decades. CBS might be launching a whole new show about his roots, but we already know a fair bit about him.
And what we know we learned over 19 seasons of NCIS. In NCIS: Origins we will meet Gibbs as a newly-minted NIS agent under the tutelage of Mike Franks (played by Muse Watson on NCIS and Kyle Schmid in Origins), a role he begins right after the death of his wife and daughter. But we've already met Franks and gotten the backstory on the murder of Gibbs's wife and daughter on NCIS. So, before NCIS: Origins digs deeper into the story of Gibbs, we've compiled a list of the episodes it might be a good idea to re-watch to get a sense of who the man really is.
"Yankee White" â Season 1, Episode 1
Sasha Alexander, Pauley Perrette, and David McCallum, NCIS Paramount+/Screengrab
The series' first episode, which follows the backdoor pilot on JAG, sees Gibbs basically explain to the audience what NCIS is about and why it's important, as the team investigates a mysterious death on Air Force One. It's also the episode that sets the groundwork for Gibbs' famous rules, which we're likely to revisit on NCIS: Origins. Among the famous rules are Rule #6: "Never say you're sorry," Rule #12 "Never date a coworker," Rule #18 "It's better to seek forgiveness than ask permission," and Rule #91 "When you decide to walk away, never look back."
"One Shot, One Kill" â Season 1, Episode 13
This Season 1 NCIS episode explores Gibbs' Marine Corps past, which is likely to be something NCIS: Origins explores much more deeply, particularly as the show picks up right after Gibbs has left the service and is just starting with NIS. In the hour, Gibbs goes undercover as a Marine recruiter while he tries to track down a sniper targeting Marine recruiters. Gibbs is a former U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper, and this NCIS episode is the first to really explore how his military service translates to his leadership at NCIS.
"Hiatus" Parts I & II â Season 3, Episodes 23 & 24
Perhaps the most important episodes in understanding the character of Gibbs, "Hiatus" Part I & II see the character survive a terrorist blast and relive moments from his past as he's unconscious. The episodes also serve as an introduction to a character who will play a central role in NCIS: Origins, Mike Franks, Gibb's mentor. He was played by Muse Watson on NCIS and will be played by Kyle Schmid in the prequel. "Hiatus" Part II is also the episode where we find out about the death of Gibbs' wife and daughter. NCIS: Origins is set to pick up right after their deaths.
"Requiem" â Season 5, Episode 2
Mark Harmon, NCIS Paramount+/Screengrab
It's not until Season 5 that we get to explore Gibbs's family again, in an episode where Gibbs helps a childhood friend of his daughter. The hour, which was meant to be the show's 100th episode, but ended up being the 101st, sees Gibbs hallucinate his wife and his daughter and get some closure by their reassurance that everything is fine. Of course, this is also the episode where Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) has to save him and said friend of his daughter from a sinking car, in one of the most action-packed moments in NCIS.
"Judgment Day" Parts I & II â Season 5, Episodes 18 & 19
Mike Franks returns to NCIS in "Judgment Day," which makes this two-parter another essential watch before NCIS: Origins premieres as a new, albeit younger, version of both Gibbs and Franks is introduced to audiences. The two-parter also sees the death of NCIS Director Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly), who dies protecting Gibbs, and the first appearance of Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll), who is still in the role of Director in NCIS Season 22.
"Heartland" â Season 6, Episode 4
NCIS: Origins is set to introduce us to a younger version of Gibbs, and one of the biggest influences on him is his father, Jackson Gibbs, played on NCIS by Ralph Waite. "Heartland" introduces the character as Gibbs investigates an ambush that leaves one Marine dead and another one injured, as it turns out he shares a heartland â Stillwater, Pennsylvania â with the remaining victim. This episode establishes that Gibbs and his father haven't spoken in 16 years and reveals how Gibbs met his first wife, Shannon.
"Life Before His Eyes" â Season 9, Episode 14
Mark Harmon and Clare Carey, NCIS Paramount+/Screengrab
A life-or-death situation leads Gibbs to reflect on the most important moments in his life in this episode, which includes flashbacks to the character leaving home, joining the Marines, meeting his first wife, witnessing the birth of his daughter, fighting in Desert Storm, finding out his wife and daughter are dead, meeting Mike Franks, and becoming an NIS agent. If there's one episode you need to watch before NCIS: Origins, it's this one.
"Honor Thy Father" â Season 11, Episode 24
NCIS pays tribute to Ralph Waite, who passed away during NCIS's eleventh season, in an episode that sees Gibbs find out that his father died from a stroke and has him return to his hometown of Stillwater, Pennsylvania. The hour mostly focuses on Gibbs reminiscing about his past, with the episode revealing that when Gibbs was young, he built a small wooden boat with his dad that they named after his mother. NCIS: Origins is set to feature a younger version of Jackson Gibbs, played by Robert Taylor.
"The Arizona" â Season 17, Episode 20
Widely considered one of the most emotional NCIS episodes, "The Arizona" sees Gibbs help a 95-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor, played by Christopher Lloyd, verify his identity. This causes Gibbs to come to terms with his military service, at one point even confiding in McGee that when he came home after his service, he felt like half a person. Considering when NCIS: Origins picks up, this is surely something that will be revisited in the prequel.
"Great Wide Open" â Season 19, Episode 4
Mark Harmon, NCIS Paramount+/Screengrab
The last episode for Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS sees Gibbs follow a case to Alaska and then decide to stay there and enjoy the peace he's found â a peace he hasn't felt since his first wife Shannon and daughter Kelly died. It is, in many ways, the end of Gibbs' story, except it isn't. We will see, and hear, Mark Harmon again in NCIS: Origins. It's just that we will see him in the past, telling us the story of how he became the man we met.
