Regardless of president results (since that'll be a while yet still) at least Josh Stein won NC and Jeff Jackson is looking favorable for Attorney General so some light in this tunnel thus far

progression of my day today: woke up to the worst election results on the planet (which drove me to drinking at 10am on a Wednesday morning), wrote our office's statement on the election loss, ran around booking locations to have post-election consolation conversations with constituents, had a collective angry election post-mortem convo with my boss, welcomed a new intern, fielded angry/terrified/scared messages and calls from colleagues and friends in and out of politics, broke down crying while talking to my mom about the election

overall: shit's not good, y'all

If you live in Pennsylvania, Michigan or Wisconsin it is of the utmost importance you go vote blue.

PA has the most electoral votes of all the swing states and historically speaking has a good chance of turning blue.

MI and WI also usually go blue in presidential elections and based on what I've seen of current electoral college map predictions, the three of them combined could likely win Harris the election regardless of whether or not she wins the other swing states.

The other swing states are still very important, but those three are some of our best shots at beating Trump.

Living in a crucial swing state is a fucking mess in the lead up to an election like i'm getting seven million texts a day, gotten FULLY stopped in traffic on three separate occasions this week because candidates are visiting (police cars everywhere, highways closed, etc), and you genuinely will need a snowplow to clear all the campaign signs once this thing is over plus I had to wait three hours in line to early vote last week BUT I DID IT

said when someone becomes pregnant their body is no longer their own

called a woman who had an abortion a “heifer”

ironically, has paid for at least one abortion himself

calls for abortion to banned in all cases and abortion providers to face massive punishments

said feminism is the work of the devil and his minions

referred to gay people as filth

referred to transgender rights as demonic

said loving god and being an LGBT ally are mutually exclusive/incompatible

wants to revoke the rights of same sex married couples

wants to completely REMOVE science AND history from elementary schools

called for the elimination of the NC board of education

has called for the censoring of teachers

various antisemitic and islamophobic comments

shared misinformation about the holocaust

North Carolinians, we MUST do everything in our power to keep this man from having any power over us. I would appreciate if non-North Carolinians would share this as well, as this man is a danger.

Even by extremely low MAGA standards, North Carolina Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is a hotheaded lunatic who belongs in a straitjacket rather than in political office. Yet Robinson is now the GOP candidate for governor of the Tar Heel state.

Recently Robinson visited a North Carolina church to preach hate and killing.

Mark Robinson, the extremist GOP nominee for governor in North Carolina, appeared to endorse political violence in a bizarre and extended rant he delivered on June 30 in a small-town church. “Some folks need killing!” Robinson, the state’s lieutenant governor, shouted during a roughly half-hour-long speech in Lake Church in the tiny town of White Lake, in the southeast corner of the state. “It’s time for somebody to say it. It’s not a matter of vengeance. It’s not a matter of being mean or spiteful. It’s a matter of necessity!” Robinson’s call for the “killing” of “some folks” came during an extended diatribe in which he attacked an extraordinary assortment of enemies. These ranged from “people who have evil intent” to “wicked people” to those doing things like “torturing and murdering and raping” to socialists and Communists. He also invoked those supposedly undermining America’s founding ideals and leftists allegedly persecuting conservatives by canceling them and doxxing them online.

An irony is that Robinson himself could be described as one of the "evil" or "wicked" people he rants against.

His latest blood-curdling diatribe again shows how hypocritical Republicans are about displaying the Ten Commandments. Robinson was in a church, no less, ranting about the necessity to kill people. Robinson is to Thou shalt not kill what Trump is to Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

The fundamentalist extremist GOP effort to put the Ten Commandments everywhere is more like dogs wanting to mark their territory than attempting to spread morality.

While I'm no Biblical scholar, Republicans seem a lot more like the Pharisees and Sadducees which Jesus used to complain about than like the Apostles.

And you have to wonder about the hypocrisy of the Lake "Church" which would invite a hate-filled psychotic like Mark Robinson to preach killing on church property.
