Yellow is such a cheery color and I love looking at these tiny but intricately detailed blooms. I especially like their soft feathery centers and green striped buds. I probably would have never chosen this plant as it wasn't blooming and looked a bit pathetic, but my dad was like, grab it, it's only a dollar. It turns out, bulbine is rather hardy here in TX, easy to propagate from cuttings, and has darling blooms. Now I want lots more.

The Rowan tree is depicted as the tree of life. It's the protector and friend to the fae.. Its berries and leaves can be used to help protect yourself from a multitude of illness . Although, you cannot eat the berries raw as it has a very tangy taste and can make you sick ,because when its raw it has a certain bad sorbic acid. But, when heated up or frozen that acid breaks down into a good sorbic acid. It's also considered a #superfood The Rowan tree has become a very rare tree its origins go back to England but nowadays it's no where to be found in that region. You can find them in the Scandinavian regions, parts of Canada and in the Northernmost regions in America. Left, Monarch caterpillar.

Top right, gulf fritilary caterpillar.

Bottom right, 8 spotted forester moth caterpillar. 

I found all 3 of these little guys in my garden. It makes me so happy because I used to live in the country and rather took the pollinators for granted. Now living in the city for 3 years, I've worked hard to attract and protect the few pollinators that come by my garden. This year I've been so excited to see more than ever and even a species I've never seen before, the 8 spotted forester moth caterpillars. Last year I started taking in a few caterpillars and released them when they became butterflies. I had lots of gulf fritilaries and 5 monarchs. This year I've already found several gulf and monarch eggs, plus 7 forester cats. I can't wait to watch them grow and change.
