“She’s your ex-wife?!” How the fuck did I not know this?! This is what I get for not researching the humans I decide to work with. “Everett, why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t think it was important! Why do you care so much?!”

This made me pause. Why did I care? Wait, that’s an easy one. “Duh. This woman is literally evil. Sure, I was going to kill humans, but it was to save the planet as a whole. She just wants to kill humans so she can win the most money.”

Everett blinked at me. “I can’t believe you’re trying to pass off what you were going to do as less evil. Juna…”

But before he could continue, I turned at the sound of something breaking the ocean's surface. Namor came waltzing up to the beach, stopping when he was waist-deep in the water. 

He held his hand out and called to me in Yucatec Maya. “My sunlight, why do you let the humans continue to drive you to the end? Come with me.”

“Who the hell is that?!” Everett’s voice broke the moment and it took all my self-control not to knock him over with a giant wave.

I turned towards Ev with a glare on my face and he gulped. “You know, you’re right. Why should I care? You want to deal with her evil? Fine!”

He watched as I ripped off my jacket and kicked off my boots. “Juna?”

“See you around, Agent Ross.” He winced at the formality of the title as I turned and walked into the ocean, not caring about the weight the water was putting on the jeans I was wearing. Soon, everything would be lightweight. 

Namor took my hand and gave a smile to Everett, an edge to the look. “Good to meet you, Agent Ross.”

I knew Namor was gloating and at that moment, I didn’t care. Namor was right; I didn’t belong with the humans. Even after everything that happened. Maybe I should take my place at Namor’s side.
