Anyway I’m a big believer in natural consequences
Like, for example, our dear rogues today
Both of them were told, separately and together, that the party would be spending the night at the ruler’s manor to discuss a job in the morning
(Drow rogue’s player missed the last two sessions so he got lost during a dramatic fight and had to be recovered, so he was told separately that his friends would be back soon and they’d all stay the night)
And, well
Our dear halfling rogue also has the ADHD, and pretty regularly forgets important details like “sneak up those stairs to whisper what we saw to the party”
(He got to the top, forgot why he came, and yelled back down the stairs to ask what he was meant to be doing
I love him with every part of my soul he’s secretly my favourite
He’s also the one who decided to assert that the ranger isn’t fucking her dire wolf companion, not because no one was, but because he personally was fucking the dire wolf and he’s not sharing
He is not fucking the dire wolf there was no need for this)
So you can guess what happened right after halfling rogue found drow rogue once the rest of the party went to bed
Halfling explained 3-4 times that the rest of the party went back to their inn, in a city they teleported from
The other players made distressed noises and tried to correct him every single time
But the rogues were ass deep in Thee most generic schlocky “your needs are more important than mine” shounen ass scene of all time, and Did Not Listen
Partner’s leaning in beside me whispering to let them just get it done and then send them to bed
But you see
I also have ADHD
And I like natural consequences
And drow rogue in particular needs to learn to pay attention beyond their current YA trope of the day, we all know halfling rogue is doing his goddamn best but he’s also down to commit to the bit with me
Literally everyone in our 8-person party tried to correct them on where to go, including me twice
We had three separate scenes about people being shown to their rooms, or asking to be led to their rooms
We described the hallway and the wing in detail, the number of doors, that all but one of them would have their own rooms (because the drow rogue got left behind and the ruler didn’t see him)
My mercy has limits and my desire for crack does not
So they go, find someone to teleport them, and go back to the inn
And don’t notice til morning that none of their friends are here cuz they rolled garbage insight and assumed their roomie probably bunked with the others instead so they wouldn’t wake him
And then got a Sending-text from the warlock asking where the heck they are since they have a job to do
The cleric had to go collect them they wanted to walk after I told them it was a full day’s ride on horseback
(To be fair this might be because their horses are eldritch abominations that our halfling rogue is fucking terrified of and the party did witness them stomping a demon that nearly killed the barbarian to death the night before)
#big gay dnd problems#pasha’s paw patrol#rip the rogues’ attention spans#natural consequences#if you don’t pay attention#the consequence is that i let you sit in your bad decisions#note: i do not expect this to help i’m just making it fun for me as well as them#if i just keep fixing it it never gets better#evidence: 4 years of play

Yes, that is what happens when you break a lot of very serious laws.

your love returns in tragedy (ID in alt)
#farcille#falin touden#marcille donato#dungeon meshi#dunmeshi#coming face to face with the consequences of acting out of love - marcille u will always be famous#dunmeshi is really a series that keeps on moving bc it's about so many different characters and centered on the journey#rather than like... introspectively on one singular individual so i dont think we see marcille dwell on it but we can see her fatigue#her shock and surprise in the recent ep “don't hurt her she's just confused” Gah. desperately trying to grasp everything thats going on and#not to lose hope. bc undoubtedly the remains she put together was falin's - that short moment of reprieve the party had was with falin#she was able to bring her back her magic did it!! but the violence the fatal swings was not falin at all.#just pondering about holding that guilt... it's such a huge responsibility to be in charge of life in the first place and yet it is#a burden she'll keep trudging with. defying the natural orders to keep the people she love alive... i Lauv her...#also shared sentiment with the rest of the fandom but God. Chimera Falin... she is Everything....#ruporas art

Got Guilt?
Guilt is not my favourite thing, but it is a useful thing on occasion. #mentalhealth #recovery #guilt
How do you feel about guilt? I’m not a fan, but it’s useful when it’s not overly abundant. Too bad too much is so often. What’s guilt got to do with it? I call myself the Queen of Guilt though I’m aware there are pretenders to the throne. Guilt is among the most ubiquitous of our emotions. We start feeling guilty young and we keep at it our whole lives. I suspect we’re hardwired for guilt.…

They dump their bulky backpacks, weighed down with tools, food, poisonous chemicals, plastic piping, and tents, and begin cutting trees and clearing the ground, manually and with herbicides. Then they set to work laying out waterlines, building check dams, and digging into the soil before planting thousands of cannabis seeds.

I'm sorry but some of you really overestimate how pro-god Orym is
#just because he is the most pro-god of bells hells doesn't mean he is actually pro-god#some of you heard “the gods are watching” and took that as his only view of the gods#and a lot of you forget that he is oyrm of the air ASHARI#you know? the people who primarily worship the natural world?#we've heard his mother (in-law) and leader say how they worship the natural world#it's not a stretch to say that orym was raised on those views#orym has stated over and over again about his worries about the potential environmental consequences of releasing predathos#and more importantly orym has always talked about how many people have died and could die as a consequence of releasing predathos#some of you think it's “ew ludinus wants to kill the gods”#when really it's “ew ludinus is willing to kill people and potentially destroy exandria in order to kill the gods”#i'll probably make a whole post with all my evidence when i have the time#orym of the air ashari#orym#critical role

never understood the arguments for gender essentialism about whether something is or isnt biological or natural like i dont think nature gives a shit abt who gets to have tits buddy. dont think nature needs you to be offended on its behalf here. join a fjord conservation acivist group maybe
#like if THIS is the hill one is going to die on i can think of several things that are more unnatural and have greater natural consequences#than particular combinations of chromosomes and pronouns#if thats what we're talking about

Leave wildlife alone. He probably bites.

#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#a-qing#xiao xingchen#xue yang#shout out to our girl a-qing for seeing the downfall this man would cause at minute one of meeting him#Something to be said about the differences in their 'blindness' also having figurative consequences.#xxc is blinded to consequences by his own naivety. He helps who needs helping because that's what he feels is right.#meanwhile A-qing is falsely blinded; she wields naivety as an outwards illusion while knowing full well that not everyone is worth saving.#She's one of my top 5 fav mdzs characters and I refuse to be quiet about it.#XXC is the kind of person who wants to save baby birds that fall out of nests. Alas. He should have followed the rules of nature:#'If you care - leave it there.'#The little rat man you found is so full of diseases. He bites. He will pee on all your belongings. Do not take him home.#No matter how sad he looks!!!!#For those who don't know what xxc is speaking Spanish: It has become a little inside joke. No significant lore: He Just Knows how.#Everytime he does I am blowing a kiss to the Spanish speaking mdzs community. I will consult you guys on slang as this arc continues.#(Playing around a bit with paneling and layout. To improve means to experiment!)

I actually find it really bizarre and counter intuitive that clinically speaking, you cannot legally be diagnosed with a personality disorder until you're at least 18. The reason given for this is because "the personality has not fully developed before this age" like ???
Ah yes, my favorite strategy. Not diagnosing the problem until it's already been virtually cemented into your brain for life! Wouldn't it be easier (and more painless) to address the problem before it's fully developed?
#im also certain that the age that personality fully forms at is not a universally agreed upon number#like idk. maybe this raises less questions about age and more about the potential consequences of pathologizing personalities#it feels a little fucked up to me that some mental illness are 'just' mental illnesses while others are deemed a thing synonymous with you#and i can understand if some people with personality disorders do really heavily identify with their disorders#thats fine!#i also think the average person has a concept of personality which is relatively stagnant and thats just not realistic tbh#i mean if you think personality is stagnant then yours probably is so in rhat sense youre not wrong#but personality can absolutely change and i dont think it makes you a 'different person'#i think its a natural progression#anyways. got a little derailed but the point im trying to make is#lets find a way to give people with personality disorders a more realistic hope for recovery without invalidating them#and also lets maybe try to treat personality disorders preemptively so they don't get worse

The worst thing about this is how he's vaguely smug about it. Like he's expecting the Magat/white supremacist community to rally around him and give him a trophy and $250 K per year for life.
“I fucked around and found out,” says racist piece of shit.

Cdream be like: You can't put yourself in the Prison anymore bc of the woke >:(/lh
That man is a mess like it's facinating how messy his vision of reality is for others and himself
it is fascinating fr, and does remind me of how we'd talk a little bit about how his perspective may betray what kind of environment this guy might've been in pre-dsmp. the stick-up-his-ass about rules and rule-following, the neuroticism about conflict, and the ease with which he jumps to punishment as being the appropriate response to people who cause problems (a perspective that, quite evidently, to a certain extent, does apply to himself, doesn't it?) all seems quite indicative of someone who lived in an environment where punishment being the natural consequence of stepping outside the lines was generally something that went unquestioned. of course, this is speculative, and it's not that a #tragicbackstory is necessary to explain what the fuck is up with c!Dream, and it's hardly about justifying the choice to abuse a teenager into behaving, lmao. but while exile served his goals and exile was a lot of petty, spiteful cruelty for petty, spiteful reasons, i do think there's something to be said about how clearly c!Dream hadn't expected c!Tommy to respond quite so severely to exile and how he thought he would be "fine" with potatoes in the prison and the language he used both about exile and his own early prison stay about shit like "getting better" through punishment. of course, punitive justice as a norm is kind of ingrained in our own society (just look at the rhetoric around deserving in this fandom, lmao, which speaks more than well enough for itself) and of course that reflects onto the dream smp as well, considering how many of the characters talk quite freely about the idea of punishment/deserving/what have you, but few characters are quite as obviously a stickler for rule-following as c!dream and exile and then prison are uhhh definitely on the more extreme end of things. anyway. just some food for thought
#my asks !!#tw abuse#it's part of why i get a little uncomfortable with the rhetoric about abuser/victim that is so common on the internet these days#bc there's often this notion of these two categories as being mutually exclusive completely distinct groups of people#and well honestly being abused normalizes abuse to a person? many people who think beating a child is fine actually were beat themselves#if you live in a world where the framework exists that punishment is the natural consequence for breaking the rules#then you will believe and often later on enforce the idea of punishment as the natural consequence for breaking the rules#there's stuff with c!dream re: this topic that's more speculative and there's stuff that's less so#(especially if you look at the weird ways he seems to be about his own redemption to c!wilbur during pogtopia)#(and that in relation to the consequences of the revolution)#but anyway. just a little ramble

we are such a fucking tragedy, you and i
#fall out boy#fob#ybc#youngblood chronicles#*mine#*art#id in the alt text#eye strain#potentially anyway...figure i might as well just to be safe#this pose was a nightmare and im still not happy w it...#i messed up the lighting in this but who cares#anyway consider this a spiritual successor to that patrick and andy piece#ybc and the nature of physical touch is so rich a theme i could write a whole thesis on it#and for these two. the only times patrick and joe lay hands on each other in the physical world it is in death#it is while patrick is corrupted into a murderous version of himself laying hands on his friend to kill him#as joe frantically fights him off. refusing to do so lethally and dying because of it.#the next time they touch it is joe hugging patrick in forgiveness in heaven#their physical presences exist in collision with one another; with an explosive and a far-reaching impact#and then gone and disseminated into nothingness. with little but the cratered remnants left behind#they are the consequences. they are the fallout.#the narrative resonates from the magnitude of what transpires between them. in guilt and in desolation and in silence#they are a TRAGEDY
