Nation Revealed AU Where Nations Have Human Identities.
Okay this idea has been stuck in my head for over a week now so I have to rant about it
okay so some Nations have human jobs, and all have human identities. so some Nations go to school while some have jobs, I personally think Austria would be a music teacher, and Greece would work at an animal shelter!
So in a nation reveal au, imagine the chaos with their co-workers/school friends when it does get revealed!
Hong Kong's school friend: hey Leon you're not the NP of Hong Kong are you?
Hong Kong: No, we don't even know if we have a NP
Hong Kong's school friend: yeah we do NP England confirmed it
Hong Kong: Umm
Hong Kongs school friend: and we even have a picture of them, look
Hong Kong: shit...
Or Austria's students finding out and just asking him so many questions
Austria: for the last time me and Hungary are not dating or married!
Austria: Yes I did fight in wars, now on to music
Austria: yes I met Motzart.
Austria: why are you so concerned about my love life, yes I did marry Spain but we are divorced... he ended up dating my sister (Hungary and Austira are siblings in my AU)
Austria: Yes nations can have kids, I have two, now for homework-
Or America working at a police station and his coworkers are freaked out that he has killed people... and fought in the civil war.
Like this would be comedy gold (IMO) especially if you mixed it with a monster AU (I will most definitely post more about this AU)

“Zuko?” Ming searched for the Prince in his silence. He was staring intently out of the window, mouth blown wide open, eyes distant and awed and sincere. Oh. His whisper was a fragile, breathless thing.
“We're here.”
Ming’s doubts and concerns are hers alone, but that doesn't mean the rest of the Crew doesn't share them. This sudden mission, Zuko's change in attitude, his obsession with the Water Tribes...
Ming tries to discover the root of it all in For the Spirits Chapter VIII: Make You Stay, but will Zuko let her in?

f1blr edit challenge: 2/4 current/recent drivers → Alex Albon
This interaction between the three British drivers took place when a Sky Sports interviewer asked them about their karting days. In reply, Russell said, “I actually not sure we did kart against each other. Lando and I karted when we were… [Norris interrupts and says when he was a baby] when you were a baby”.After stating the same, Russell added, “Lando and I looked up to Alex [Albon]. Alex was our hero“. Immediately after, Norris also agreed that Albon was indeed his hero.[x]

do you have any katara x azula hcs??
Tumblr media
Oh boy oh boy DO I. I have a lot! Buckle up because this'll be a long one. I'll start with typical couples questions then share headcanons that don't exactly fit anywhere else.
The most affectionate: Katara, by a landslide. She's generally more in tune with her emotions and not as easily flustered as Azula is, so she's more comfortable showing her love. In private, however, Azula is very lovey dovey.
Who said I love you first: Azula. Katara was ready to say it for ages but didn't want to pressure Azula into saying it back if she wasn't ready, so she waited for Azula to tell her on her own time.
Favorite physical feature about the other: Katara loves Azula's hands. Azula loves Katara's hair and is constantly playing with it. (But her actual favorite of Katara's features is the way her mind works. She's captivated by the way Katara thinks through problems.)
Who is most likely to carry the other to bed: Azula. She's taller and more muscular so she can actually bridal carry her and make it all romantic. Katara can only lift Azula up by her legs— Azula's muscle weight makes her kind of heavy otherwise.
Big spoon and little spoon: They switch, but usually Katara is big and Azula is little.
Who initiates kisses: Katara.
Who kisses the hardest: Azula. She's so touch deprived she can't help it.
Miscellaneous headcanons:
• Azula only allows Katara to touch and do her hair. Hair is sacred in Fire Nation culture and only direct family members (or servants in more noble households) are permitted to touch an individual's hair. It's viewed as an immense sign of disrespect when any part of the body is touched unprompted, but especially hair— such a bold act may be considered so ungracious that Agni Kais may be called to settle the matter of dishonor. This especially applies as rank increases. For example, members of the royal family are considered untouchable.
Katara is never explicitly given Azula's permission to handle her hair; she probably isn't even aware of this aspect of Fire Nation culture. She just kind of starts doing it for her out of love, because Azula's still not very good at it. Azula never once rejects her advances, despite the implications that Katara must be equivalent to family if she's been given hair touching privileges.
• Azula has never actually killed anyone, despite what some may believe about her, but she is still incredibly protective over Katara and will take any lengths necessary to keep her from harm. This is especially the case during the resurgence of the New Ozai Society, when the Gaang is residing in the capital to help Zuko handle the rebellions. Katara becomes a major political target given she's the princess's outsider girlfriend, and sometimes Azula will come back to the palace late at night caked in blood that isn't her own. No matter how big or small the threat is, if Katara's name is mentioned, Azula handles it. She earns the nickname The Red Spirit for her vigilantism.
• During the early stages of their relationship, Katara flinches whenever Azula uses her firebending. She tries to play it off, but Azula notices every time. To combat this as gently as she possibly could, Azula made it a point to use her bending solely in very specific contexts, like warming Katara's hands for her on colder days. They're small steps, and it takes a very long time, but Azula is patient. She understands that Katara grew up associating fire with destruction.
• Jumping off of that, Katara does eventually grow to find peace with fire. Her favorite aspect of Azula becomes her fingers— she kisses them all the time. Individually, all at once, over her knuckles, on her palms, she can't get enough.
• The first time Katara uses her bloodbending in front of Azula is also the first time Azula ever remembers feeling genuine fear over anyone's power that wasn't Ozai's.
• Azula loves Katara very deeply, but when they spar (which isn't often), she refuses to let Katara win. She's too competitive for that, even when it comes to the love of her life.
• After Aang and Zuko, Azula and Katara are said to have the best offensive chemistry. They developed a combo move that incorporates Katara's water and Azula's lightning (low charged) to stun multiple rebels at once. It really helps get fights sorted out faster.
• Azula is beyond possessive and gets jealous very easily. She's also incredibly clingy, probably from a lack of childhood affection. Her biggest fear is Katara leaving her.
• Before they even began dating, they were tentative friends. During this time, their fights and arguments were intense. Never physical, but Azula could be pretty mean— she had to be, growing up. Being ruthless is what kept her alive. It took her a long time to realize that talking to Katara that way wasn't going to keep her around. Like Katara's journey with fire, Azula's journey with keeping tabs on her emotions and expressing herself properly was a long one, but Katara was patient.
• Katara is bisexual, and Azula is lesbian. Katara only ever semi-dated Aang before settling down with Azula, whereas Katara is Azula's one and only.
• Azula struggled a lot with internalized homophobia, even after Zuko abolished the ban on same-sex relationships that Sozin put into place. She projected a lot because of it, but one night out at the Fire Festival with Katara and seeing two girls kiss under the decorative lights was enough for her to realize that that's exactly what she wanted with Katara.
Some NSFW-ish headcanons below:
• They switch, of course, but Azula's the tall bottom and Katara is the short top. This took a lot of time for Azula to accept since she's so used to being in control, but it was important for her to be fully vulnerable when getting intimate.
• Katara is a tongue kisser. Azula had no idea how to kiss until Katara taught her.
• Katara is reserved about PDA. She'll give her a peck or two but keeps it classy. Azula, once she gets really comfortable, is insane about it. She doesn't care in the slightest what anyone else thinks. As far as she's concerned, Katara is hers, and she's not going to hide that for the sake of anybody else's discomfort.
• Azula is about 95% of the time a pillow princess. Katara doesn't mind this at all— if she did, they wouldn't be together. They both find their dynamic perfect, and the bonus for Azula is that she gets to keep her nails long. When Azula does give, however, it's absolutely life changing.

Earthquake Reveals Aztec Snakehead Beneath Mexico City
Researchers are conserving a rare snakehead from the Aztecs that still retains its painted colors from hundreds of years ago.
An earthquake last year revealed a big surprise beneath a law school in modern-day Mexico City: a giant, colorful snakehead from the Aztec Empire.
The snakehead dates back more than 500 years, to when the Aztecs controlled the area, which at the time was part of the flourishing capital of Tenochtitlan. The sculpture was discovered after a magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck Mexico City on Sept. 19, 2022; the seismic event caused damage and changes in the topography, revealing the snakehead beneath a building that was part of a law school at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) said in a Spanish-language statement.
The Aztecs built temples and pyramids and worshipped a number of deities, including Quetzalcoatl, who was often depicted as a snake. However, it's unclear if this sculpture depicts him, the archaeologists said.
The sculpted snake is 5.9 feet (1.8 meters) long, 2.8 feet (0.85 m) wide and 3.3 feet (1 m) high, and it weighs about 1.3 tons (1.2 metric tons), the INAH said. Several colors — including red, blue, black and white — are preserved on the sculpture.
Tumblr media
Color was preserved on about 80% of the sculpture's surface. To keep it preserved, an INAH team lifted the snakehead out of the ground with a crane and constructed a humidity chamber around the sculpture. This chamber allows the sculpture to lose humidity gradually, with its color being preserved, María Barajas Rocha, a conservationist with the INAH who worked extensively on the sculpture, said in the statement.
While other snakehead sculptures have been found at Tenochtitlan, this one is particularly important for its preserved colors, said Erika Robles Cortés, an archaeologist with the INAH.
Tumblr media
"Thanks to the context in which this piece was discovered, but above all, thanks to the stupendous intervention of the restorers-conservators led by Maria Barajas, it has been possible to stabilize the colors for its preservation in almost all the sculpture, which is extremely important, because the colors have helped us to conceive pre-Hispanic art from another perspective," Robles Cortés told Live Science in an email.
The sculpture's "sheer size is impressive, as well as its artistry," but the survival of the colors is remarkable, said Frances Berdan, a professor emeritus of anthropology at California State University, San Bernardino who was not involved with the excavation. "The survival of black, white, red, yellow, and blue paints is particularly interesting — one gains a good image of the visual impact of such sculptures as they were arrayed about the city center," Berdan said in an email.
Tumblr media
In addition to its preserved colors, the snakehead's size is notable, said Bertrand Lobjois, an associate professor of humanities at the University of Monterrey in Mexico who is not involved in the excavation. The "first time I saw this serpent head, I was dazzled by its dimensions," he said in an email.
Lobjois also praised the conservation work that allowed the colors to survive, noting that "the conservation process allows us to appreciate the naturalistic approach of figuration" the Aztec artists used.
This work is ongoing and will continue at the site into next year.

Gonna post my thoughts on the Hetalia Nations Revealed AU. Always a fun one to chat about. ( ̄▽ ̄)
We call it an AU but it’s actually pretty accurate. The part about nation-people not being a secret, I mean. I recently reread the webcomic and canon leans into NPs being public knowledge. Obviously their bosses are aware of them, but there’s lots of strips where NPs interact with members of the public as well. There are strips starring humans who don’t recognize their NP (that one soldier in France, Lisa, Davie, etc.) but they’re fewer in number. We all know Heta-canon is flexible so, for this post, I’m coming down on the side of “people know.” Here’s how I headcanon it all working:
Nation-people are common knowledge to the extent it would be really weird if you met someone who wasn’t aware of them. It would be like talking to a guy and he says he’s never heard of religion. Like, any religion. In the whole world. Not even the concept of it. You’d be all: “Whaaa?? Man, how?? Did you grow up under a rock?” It’s like that for NPs.
NPs are more than human and so aren’t too bothered by us. In a nice way. They still love their citizens but it’s not a relationship between equals. More benevolent demi-deities existing alongside the mundane. This is where I differ from some interpretations of this AU, I think. I can’t see the NPs as being weak and helpless around their people. They’re partially representations of the Earth itself and nature is much stronger than humanity. Like that panel where Francis was getting harassed by historians? Only happened because he allowed it. NPs let humans get close to them when they choose, but they can lose them if they wish. That’s what France did when he’d had enough. The historians blinked and he was just gone. Slipped away like a breath of wind. Leaving two very disappointed academics to continue their argument, lol. The only exceptions are their bosses. NPs have to obey any direct order given by them.
Have to, have to. Compelled in the old fae-like way. NPs are completely under the control of whoever’s running their country. The one who has the final say is the head of state, but they can and do delegate if someone else holds the true power. Kiku directly obeys his emperor, for example, but the emperor obeys Japan’s Diet. So the Prime Minister gives Kiku his orders through their symbolic ruler. If a country’s government is overthrown then that control passes to the new ones in charge. NPs don’t get any choice in the matter, sadly for them. When an NP starts obeying the “other side” then the writing’s on the wall that the regime change has succeeded.
They aren’t considered fully human and so don’t have the same rights and privileges we do. I’d imagine there’s been many high profile court cases about stuff like this in the modern era. Just what an NP can be ordered to do by their bosses before it becomes abusive, how culpable they are for crimes committed by their nations, etc. “The Nation of [x] vs. Nation-Person [y] in the case of Historical Crime(s) [z].” I don’t think much would have been accomplished over the years, lol. No country is going to let their NP go to a foreign prison. Plus the NPs always have the “magically compelled” defense to fall back on. So no progress, just lots of debate. NPs are considered somewhere between guardian deities, ordinary people, and “things” in the broader public consciousness.
Yes, they have social media. No, it has not always gone well. I bet after a few instant-major-historical-event cases of careless and/or hot-tempered NPs calling their bosses assholes on twitter, NP accounts were mass nuked. They were reinstated only after their bosses gave them loooong lists of subjects they weren’t allowed to talk about. Afterwards their posts were all fluff about hobbies and personal interests. Doesn’t stop foreign governments, economists, gossip channels, NP enthusiasts, and curious people combing through every tweet, post, and video to try and guess what the NPs are “really” talking about. So many conspiracy theorist channels, oh god. Even thinking about it is making me tired. 😂
NPs have two homes: a work address and a personal one. The former is usually located in their capital and is either where their boss lives or close by. So Alfred has a home at the White House, Arthur has one on Downing Street, etc. However most NPs don’t consider these their real homes and only spend time there while doing government work. Ordinary, if nice, houses and apartments out among their people is where they like to live. These can decorate them to match their personalities the way they can’t official residences. They use their power over the land to make sure no humans can find these sanctuaries unless the NP wants them to. Stops NPs being swarmed by paparazzi, tourists, and fans 24/7.
De-anoning to say it was me that sent @forsoobado137 the money ask. So just repeating what I said there. All countries put their NP’s face on their money. Along with the state’s name, the NP’s human name, and a picture of the actual land they represent. The money can have other famous people on it too, just on the other side. Governments have been doing this since money was invented and some of the only surviving visual records of ancient NPs are pictures on coins.
Any human being knows an NP and the country they represent just by sight. Unless it’s somewhere they’ve never heard of. Then all they know is that they’re looking at a nation-person. I imagine it would be considered a huge faux-pas to let it slip you don’t know an NP’s country name. Like telling a Holywood A-lister you don’t know who they are at a red carpet event. 😭
NPs have many default jobs, mostly related to their governments. One of them is being in their nation’s armed forces. They’ve always done this ever since the first age of empires. They even led armies and were seen as good luck charms in the past. Soldiers tend to make up the bulk of the humans the NPs remember most fondly. The relationship between Francis and Joan of Arc is one of the best known historical examples. Whether an NP actually enjoys their time in the military depends on their personality. Which is in turn influenced by how warlike the actual country is and has been. If your NP falls in battle, it’s one of the worst war omens possible.
Speaking of death, I headcanon that NPs can die from illness or injury. Or at least their human bodies can. They’re tougher than we are, but not unkillable. They’ll come back so long as the nation itself survives. True death for an NP is reserved for when the civilisation they represent stops existing. If an NP dies in a foreign country, they’ll crumble to dust and regenerate somewhere deep in their heartlands. The place they were originally “born” from the earth. Only a select few very high up in government know the location of their NP’s birth/rebirth place. This also happens if they die on home soil and their body is destroyed. If they die at home and their body is okay, they’ll heal and wake up after a few hours. If the country isn’t doing well it takes longer for its NP to come back.
Speaking of countries not doing well: NPs get sick either when their economies go bad, or when there’s an epidemic among their citizens. A lot of European NPs can chalk some of their early deaths up to the Black Death. When an NP get “depressed” it’s code for a financial fever. Nothing can be done but keep them comfortable until the economy picks up.
Hetalia is so fun to post about, my god. Such a prime series for theories and headcanons. You feel me, gamers?
