Sasuke feels really touched and starts acting like a Yandere, being really nice to Naruto in his withdrawn way and getting really mad whenever someone says something bad about Naruto.

Sasuke is on the verge of leaving the village forever. Naruto has other ideas.

Thoughts: If you thought the last one was sad, here's a happier version. I read this fic back when I didn't have an AO3 account and would desperately keep the tab open as to not lose it. This fic is heartbreaking in it's beauty and lifting in it's sweet moments. A blessing, this fic is a true blessing.

Summary:

Instead, he comes up with a poorly thought out idea to tell her he is dating someone already. All he needs to do to convince her is to show her a photo of the guy. He just needs to get a picture of someone so ridiculously hot she will know it's hopeless. He actually has someone in mind, a guy he'd had a one-sided thing for from his gym. Although, the guy is sort of an ass and probably wouldn't agree to posing for a picture. Naruto decides to ask him anyway. What's he got to lose?

There's no way I can analyze the Team 7 dynamic before saying a bunch of stuff about Sakura.

Most vital parts of her character in relation to the theme of the story get completely overlooked in favor of #GirlPower, making her just part of a ship or hating her without taking a moment to really dive in how she exists on the Naruto world.

What do you mean you can't remember Haku's speech on how in the shinobi system people want to become tools for the people they love and how it connects to Sakura later becoming a medic nin?

What do you mean you can't see how she was not given proper continuation to her Naruto classic breakthrough in the Chunning Exams + after the Sasuke Retrieval mission? And before someone can say her only realization was has been useless all that time, it's even more important!! She knew she had been unfair to Naruto for treating him so bad and expecting him to shoulder all her burdens like nothing, that she did a disservice to Sasuke too by not acting as her teammate but basically asking him to rescue himself and Naruto it failed. She makes a promise to herself to grow for her and not someone else, to become a kunoichi and focus on her career instead of letting times drag her around, she makes herself a promise that she won't be powerless anymore, because her friends deserve it and she deserves it.

Naruto Classic even makes a point of letting her go back into her old ways out of stress and the minute she notices what she has done, what she did to Sasuke and Naruto, she apologizes to him (Naruto) and promises to burden the weight of the promise he made with him— that's why, back then, Shikamaru and Tsunade were able to smile to both Sakura and Naruto, seeing their courage in the face of Sasuke leaving.

Shippuden just repeats and exploits those scenes in new ways, bringing Sakura back at the start for the sake of drama or ship baiting. What Sai told Sakura and how it leads to Sakura fake confession makes no sense given the hospital room scene!!!! She knows she hurt him, she saw it back then!!!! She knows he suffers for her and that's why she promised to go after Sasuke with him next time! She apologized for her behavior and she worried about Naruto's wellbeing and she ran to ask to be Tsunade's apprentice because she knew!!!!

It makes no sense!!!

Her arc in the Classic is supposed to be about how she doesn't have a definition of herself that she feels belong in the world, so she hides behind pretences. During their presentation, you learned more about Sasuke than Sakura. She was on the same level of Kakashi revealing nothing about her life. The Chunning Exams start with Kakashi all worried that her lack of confidence/independence would force her into the exams. She realizes how little she has truly work on her own self during the Sound shinobis attack and cuts her hair, swearing she'll do better. It's her sense of self HIDDEN SO DEEP WITHIN HER, what break a technique that is not supposed to be capable of being broken.

The Classics portraits Sakura as being annoying and naive and causing damage through ignorance but it always Sakura to grow. She learns and she's able to keep that knowledge. She's neglected by Kakashi in her training, but she's able to seek a sensei for herself —and that's an important thing for her! She's not waiting for someone to teach her or recommend her! She has agency now! She has gone so far, evolved so much!

Sakura offering herself as a puppet to Chiyo is not about lack of independence, it's Sakura showing that she acknowledged and accepted the Shinobi philosophy of being a weapon. She's still Sakura, too sentimental, too willing to jump to shield the life of another, but now it gives Tsunade's energy. Those women turn weakness into power, love and fear into determination. Sasori allows them to kill him because the battle was never about the knifes and always about the dispute on points of views.

It's a battle of philosophies: Chiyo and Sakura won

But after that? There are moments of importance and coherence, but the story starts regressing her progress in favor of some angst with Naruto or Sasuke and it kills their dynamics. The storytelling is messy —not cohesive enough. Contradictions start to appear everywhere. It's not even a form to being depth into her characterization, it's clear it's nothing but indecision, confusion, too many lines to take so you take several and end up mixing it.

The Sakura from the Classic was unknowable for her teammates. Naruto couldn't see her struggles because he was too young. Sasuke could see it, but he didn't want to engage with it 'cause he had his own agenda. They had their dreams and they were her dream. They were far more developed and on a different stage of their storylines, while Sakura was far behind, a late bloomer.

Her whole story is about her trying to catch up with them not in power, not in importance, but merely on the idea of having work on herself enough that she can't stand on her own and do something on her own and mean something of her own, without them, outside of them, so their dynamics can mature too.

Must mention that I'm not talking about romance at all, but you can't avoid it a lot because romance is one of the obstacles in their relationships. The love triangle and later the nostalgia encourages them all to see the others through the lenses of idealization or through memories. It's not until the end of the Classic that the masks fall, with Sasuke forcing it. He forces Naruto and Sakura to grow, the same way the violent reality of the Waves arc forced them to face the nature of the shinobi life.

The main conflict of part 1 is that they were kids.

Then Shippuden (with all the love in the world, I love Shippuden so much but wait a minute) goes the coward route. It pretends to be all mature and political and then avoids the real problems, never continuating that personality traits presented in the Classic that would lead Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke to take different decisions that what they took later on the manga.

Naruto wanted to semanticsize the word shinobi after Zabuza! Sakura questioned the system right then and Kakashi had to give a speech about it!!!! The real context of Sasuke leaving is not "oh no, Sasuke you can't be a rebel!!", it's the knowledge that Orochimaru wants to experiment on him and he already has without Sasuke's consent and he (Sasuke) was in real danger by going forward with the cursed mark! The other kids only knew about Orochimaru through the tell of how he killed the Hokage, but Sakura and Naruto fought with him on the Forest of Death!!

Sakura says all she says to try and stop Sasuke for leaving because it is a director callback to their conversation after Naruto transformed in Sasuke and tried to kiss her. Sasuke said Sakura made him sick because she didn't know what how lonely was horrible and dared to talk about it without knowing and saying stuff like she would be better without her parents. So Sakura tries to tell him on that night, look! I'm feeling it now! If this is how you were feeling then stay! Or take me with you! She plays with the fact he must remember that conversation. This time she's not thinking "I want to overwhelm him with sex appeal", mouth full of words she doesn't comprehend. She's saying "I love you!" because she still doesn't comprend how Sasuke feels, but she knows how she feels now.

She's gone a long way, but she still has further to go and Sasuke would never mess with her own development. He would never do that to her. He can't talk to Sakura, she won't get it, she still has to learn about the world, so he won't waste more words. So he thanks her. Who knows what for, but he thanks her. Her ignorance's annoying to no end but he appreciates how she, despite the barriers, tries to reach him anyway. She lacks the words or the method or the strength, but she tries anyway.

For him.

It's very much the same with Naruto. She turns herself into a weapon for them both and she even internalizes the cruelty of the shinobi world, that she had to treat Sasuke like the enemy and fight him like the enemy and stop him for commiting more crimes (view from the Konoha perspective), but she fails. She can't. She does the same thing Tsunade did to poison the people she loved and tried to solve it on her own, but in both cases they were lying to themselves. They wanted an easy way out. I kill you, it's over, I don't have to deal anymore with the pain your own decisions bring me because I can't stop you, you're your own person. They KNOW it and the fold under the knowledge of it, okay?

Naruto is a jinchuriki and they are hunting him to kill him and she can't do nothing, because going on with those missions is Naruto's decisions and not hers. She's selfish in wanting them save and sound! It is bad and it is human! She is erasing them as their own persons! She loves them so so much! She acts several times on her desire to go back and pretend everything is okay and then her friends have to correct her, sometimes gentle or sometimes reprimanding her. As tempting as it is to close your eyes and pretend, it can't be. That's the only reason why she didn't fell for the lure of the Eternal Tsukuyomi: her whole life has been about learning why that living of illusions won't bring happiness to anyone.

Shippuden somehow traps her in that realization like a personal hell. I love you both. You are willing to sacrifice your wellbeing for your dreams. I can't do nothing. I can only cry and ask you to stop and do something reckless and try to use myself as a living shield. But I can't do nothing. You are your own beings and you will destroy yourselves if you want to. I can only sit, wait and see if I can mend you later. I can only deal with the afterwards. I can only control my reactions to your actions.

Making her a medic is amazing because she has to wait for one of them to start bleeding to come in the scene. They will never allow her to fight for them in the way they did for her in the Classic, for multiple reasons —including just how important is agency and free will for both Naruto and Sasuke.

When people say she's useless? Or have no place in the narrative? Or bring nothing to the table? Or speaks in no way about the failures and cruelty if the shinobi system? When people don't get that she's Naruto and Sasuke narrative foil in terms of her arc being narrated in a completely different way with different aspects? That's she's all they're not or can't be or can't have or weren't allowed to be? When people erase her from the dynamics of Team 7 and don't see the gaping hole they left in her absence?

It makes me utterly insane. All members of Team 7, the original and all the Shippuden versions, are relevant to the themes. All of them.

Sorry this took so long to answer. I'm just going to do the Konoha 12 for now since if I added all my fave Boruto characters it would probably go over the post limit.

Naruto: He needs a cheerleader - someone who is always in his corner no matter what. They don't have to be loud like he is, but they do need a sense of humor, because his love language is corny jokes. Loyalty is everything to him.

Sakura: Sakura wants to be taken seriously as an equal, but she also deeply wants to be pampered and protected. Obviously she can hold her own in a physical fight, but a partner who can "rescue" her from the rain with an umbrella or give her breakfast in bed will make her swoon regardless.

Sasuke: Sasuke is kind of like a cat: if you chase him, he'll just run away and hiss at you. He needs to be the one who initiates things. Because of his trauma, he can act very hot and cold, so his partner has to be patient and let things happen at his pace.

Kiba: For him, I think the perfect match would have to be the whole package: His soulmate. His best friend. His eternal rival. Kiba has gone through every iteration of enemies-to-friends-to-lovers there is, all with the same person.

Hinata: Her ideal relationship has zero conflict and 100% unconditional acceptance. Her father destroyed her self-esteem growing up, so even as an adult, she will soak up compliments like a parched flower.

Shino: Like Sasuke, a relationship with Shino needs to go at his pace, because if a partner pushes him too fast, he will close up on himself like a pill bug. 5. What do you wish someone would ask you about [insert fic]? Answer it now!

So, the asker for this question wanted me to go ahead and pick a fic, so I'm picking The Art of Love because I've always wanted people to ask more about the Shadow Kami introduced in the last chapter I posted.

My wheelhouse with writing is very much worldbuilding, and I think Naruto in particular is a series that has some great building blocks but some egregious holes as well in the worldbuilding. Inconsistencies, contradictions, and just a general lack of consideration for any other part of the shinobi world that wasn't Konoha. And even then there are still holes, and I always have a lot of fun filling them in.

However, the Nara clan's jutsu is not one of those big glaring plot holes. I straight up just thought, 'what if some of the ninjutsu used in the world is actually rooted in ancient magical practices?'

The idea that the Nara clan's Shadow Technique is more than just ninjutsu kind of struck me out of nowhere. I wasn't necessarily intending to do it, but once I had the idea, it really just took root. I figured, if anything could be given a different and more enigmatic origin, it would be the Shadow Technique from the Nara Clan.

I still have a lot of work to do with it, but I am excited with what's begun.

In TAoL I really needed something that would help Shikamaru, Team Eight, and Sai while they searched for clues as to what was happening in the world, and I wanted to really push the stakes up. Shikamaru is already poised to lose the woman he loves, but what if he's so willing to do anything to save her that his humanity is also on the line? The power he has from the Shadow Kami isn't limitless but it's certainly great. Yet there are still consequences--but again, those are consequences he'll gladly face in order to save Temari and her brothers.

The Shadow Kami are dangerous, though. They aren't animals you can tame, it's not a 'technique' you can master. The Shadow Kami are gods--or one god. the shadow kami are one and millions, always branching off and coming back together, and it's an overwhelming thing to touch let alone give over your body to.

There's one particular aspect (or form) to the Shadow Kami--the aspect that the Nara made their pact with in the first place--that acts as both guardian of the clan, a source of contact with the shadow Kami, and also someone to watch that the clan never falters from their initial pact. The clan hasn't actively acknowledged the pact or practiced the worship of Shadow Kami that they once did, but the pact still holds and hasn't been broken, and Shikamaru knows about it because he was obviously poised to take his father's place as the leader of his clan. he had to know.

there are prophecies in ancient scrolls and all sorts of powers Shikamaru could tap into. but he didn't have time to prepare or study, so he just kind of goes all in and is like 'yeah here my body is yours to use in exchange for your power'.

if he can learn to work with and live with the shadows, he'll be neigh unstoppable, but they'll never leave him. he'll never look how he used to or navigate the world how he did, and because of this--assuming he survives--any children he has would also be touched by the shadow kami... less so, but still. he's altered the course of his family's future entirely with this. so depending on what happens in the end, this will.

as with all my worldbuilding, the shadow kami holds across multiple fics even if it never comes up or is irrelevant to the plot. for instance, in Absolution, when a member of the Nara clan interrupts the final day of the Festival of Rain, it's because something has happened with the shadow kami that Shikamaru must tend to. what happened and why isn't necessary to Absolution, but it was necessary that Shikamaru leave Suna for a while and it works well because the reason Shadow Kami have made themselves known is because of Ruri's birth. again, all things that have no relevance to the actual plot of Absolution, which is why I can share that.

Before you even sit down he’s already patting his lap for you to come and sit with him and he doesn’t understand why you’re acting brand new. “Y/n what are you doing?”, he asks, watching you place your plate down and sit on the chair beside him. “It’s dinner time”, you reply, knowing exactly what’s coming next. “Why do you act like this baby?”, he sheepishly asks before patting his lap again. “Come sit here and stop messing around babe”. And you’ll give in like you always do to entertain his whining and give him soft kisses midst conversation.

When you’re done eating he will place his head on your chest and hold you close while you run your fingers through his tangled hair. And you two will just sit like this and talk about anything and everything before turning all the lights off and snuggling in bed.

Yes Naruto is always holding you throughout the night. He will even scoop you up and plop you right on top of him in the middle of his sleep, wrapping his arms and legs around you like you’re some kind of teddy bear.

Of course you can sit in his lap and cuddle while he’s pooping. Absolutely does not mind. Sometimes he’ll call out to you when he’s there or when he’s heading there. I wouldn’t say he’s a cuddle bug, more of a cuddle butterfly…if you catch him you catch him if not then you’ve missed him. That’s on you.

Usually feels bad about starting his day without cuddles from you. He’s so used to you snuggling into him every morning that he will wait for you to wake up or go back to sleep until you wake him up for some cuddles. He won’t ever admit it but it’s the perfect way to start his day.

He needs space when he’s feeling a little too warm though. He doesn’t like being touched or touching you when it’s super hot. It annoys him when your skin sticks together and then you have to separate like velcro.

He’s more the type who’s comfortable as long as your comfortable. He’s just going to lay there and you can use his body all you want lol.

He loves you but you gotta stop waking him up so early in the morning to ask for cuddles. He will just sleepily throw his arm over you and pull you close to him then he’s back to sleep.

He does things sometimes to tempt you into holding him or being held by him when he doesn’t feel like asking you. He’ll have a big stretch in front of you to get your attention, deeply hoping and praying that you’ll wrap your arms around him and snuggle into his chest. He totally wasn’t expecting it the first time he did that and now it’s his go to move and that always melts his heart.

He loves to lay his head on your lap or tummy during his afternoon naps. He didn’t request for you to join him during his cloud watching sessions but always complains about how lonely he gets up on the building. Therefore you’re there to massage his scalp while he watches the clouds, dosing into a blissful nap. You’ll nap with him when he’s in the mood to cuddle but when he has his head on your lap or tummy you just like to listen to him lightly snoring while reading or going through a few scrolls.

Hold him and snuggle your head into him , relaxes him when he’s up thinking in the middle of the night. You’re like medicine to him, he could swear it’s magic how you always help him feel better.

Shika is okay with you being in the bathroom with him and doesn’t mind you hanging around even when he’s pooping. He will let you hug him from behind while he’s peeing but that’s as far he will go with that. No sitting on his lap while he’s pooping. Just no. Why would you even want that?

Have you written a complete character analysis about Neji somewhere? I love hearing your thoughts and would like to know more in detail :)

He's not an easy character to crack, I have many questions about him. Why did he talk about irreversible fate while going against it so frequently during Chunin exams? Were those subconscious spur-of-moments? Then why did he step outside his boundary and learn Head family arts? Did he ever try to follow his own philosophies at all, or was it all talk so someone could prove him wrong? (On this flow, do you think Neji pre-talk-no-jutsu would've given up against Kidomaru?)

The way nobody stopped him from spilling state/clan affairs seemed strange to me too. I also find it weird how Kumogakure wasn't accused but rewarded after trying to steal Hinata. Hiashi was simply being defensive.

I also wondered why Lee, Neji's teammate, never could sway Neji's belief (before Naruto) in spite of defying own limitations and becoming a respectable full-fledged ninja. (But I get that he isn't a protagonist so he can't be the one Neji would be indebted to.)

I don't think I ever have! Back in the day I mostly wrote fanfic and shitposted ... but I like writing meta now so I'm glad to receive asks that give me the chance to. 😊 To offer my thoughts on your questions:

A) Fundamentally, I think Neji does not want to believe in irreversible fate, but at the same time, believing in fate is his security blanket. Those who have suffered from depression may understand this paradox: it does not feel good to be depressed, but it is familiar, and gives you an excuse to not engage with the world.

Neji is deeply cynical and like most cynics, striving to be apathetic and unmoved, tied into a general trauma response. As Hinata reads him for filth:

This upsets him deeply. He's projecting his sense of helplessness onto others and when they say "No, I do not feel helpless, I choose to keep fighting," it always sets him off because it suggests that he is lacking in some way. That he is weak. Considering the only good thing fate ever did for him was make him a genius, you can imagine how this is a direct attack to what little good he has. Giving up fate for the bad it has brought him would also give up the comfort of 'You can't lose. At least in this way, you are not vulnerable.'

Throughout his fight with Naruto he asks Naruto why he fights so hard. He says he'll kill Naruto but just stands there and keeps talking to him. As you say, he wants Naruto to change his mind. I wouldn't say he didn't believe in his own philosophies, but it was only because he was a smart guy who couldn't see another option.

This is why the emphasis of the fight is Neji being told he's using fate as an excuse to be passive, and Naruto himself calls Neji out for saying it's all pointless but still fighting. Neji was not at harmony with his own worldview, and that is why we see him act in a contradictory manner.

B) Related to the above, but: Neji learned the head family arts because he could. You can see it as a rebellion (the heir can't learn this, but I can, hah) but we have to consider what being a 'genius' means in the Naruto universe. It's not that they don't work hard too, but it means being blessed with a natural talent. Really think about this feat:

"Independently recreate it on his own." This suggests that Neji didn't just creep on Hiashi trying to teach Hinata this technique (not sure Hiashi ever bothered trying) but Neji knew about the kaiten in theory and managed to reverse engineer it, and did the same thing with 64 palms, and teaching himself to perceive tenketsu in battle. These are 'genius feats'.

What do you do when you are that talented? You have to find new things to do or you go crazy. Even Shikamaru, World's Laziest Genius, loves his board games. They need an outlet. Neji's talents could only lead him to upward growth, and this was a natural extension of that -- so it was more than envy, or frustration at seeing Hinata fail at it*, but just doing because he could, and his genius compelled him to.

*In his fight with Hinata he remarks "So this is the full extent of the main branch's strength?" which suggests to me he knew she was a general failure, but not how great a gap existed in their skills, so I think he wasn't intimately familiar with her training and skills by this point of their relationship. Thus at the start of the match he mostly derides her for not being leadership material, being passive, etc., and not so much on what she does not or does know as a ninja.

C) I'm torn on this. I think in a sense, yes, because the text reinforces this with Neji stating:

OTOH, Neji also thinks of his dad's "Neji, you ... more than anyone else, you've been blessed with the genius of the Hyūga clan." twice in this fight. (Curiously the official translation drops the "Neji you must live/survive part.) He thinks of it right before he states more explicitly that instead of being unable to lose:

To me this creates a duality where Neji wants to win this fight for Naruto and his comrades because Naruto saved him from the darkness and he wants to help Naruto do the same with Sasuke, and because he is a true genius he can't lose, and Neji wants to live because his dad wanted him to live. So in a way it's a mix of both? That he needed both of these talks to motivate him to survive this fight.

What gets me is that ultimately we are supposed to think of Neji as spiritually free at this point. He is so willing to sacrifice himself here and the war because his narrative arc was fulfilled and he was at peace with himself. In this sense, Naruto's TnJ had a somewhat lethal effect on him.

D) Really the only people in that arena who might have reason to shut Neji up are Hiashi and Hiruzen, and despite their respective flaws I don't think either of them are the type to. Both of them care for Neji as family (Hiruzen includes Neji along with the rest of the Konoha 11/Konohamaru in his 'The Village is Family' final thoughts.) Neither of them was a fan of how the whole Hyūga Affair went down.

Hiruzen's fatal flaw is that he's exceptionally passive. Hiashi is, of course, burdened by guilt and feels a responsibility to Neji, and this patterns most of their reactions to hearing Neji tell his story: Hiruzen gazing on, and Hiashi having trouble watching:

And of course, Neji is ultimately wrong. If anyone actually tried to confront either of them about this they have a roomful of witnesses to back them up and make it clear Hizashi sacrificed himself. This being a ninja village, I also don't think anyone is particularly moved by the idea of one person being sacrificed for the greater good anyways. Remember that Sakumo was driven to suicide by the decision to put saving lives over the mission in part because of how the village ostracized him after the fact. The idea that Hizashi wouldn't willingly take the L would probably make him look worse in their eyes.

E) Kumo is a very powerful nation. They have two tailed beasts, one of whom is the second-strongest tailed beast (and they were both in the hands of successful jinchūriki) and we're told that at a time when every other village started to disarm, Kumo did the exact opposite:

They are a serious threat, and I can see why Konoha didn't want to risk war resuming with them. Even if we see this purely from the POV of Part I, Konoha had been devastated by the Kyūbi not long before and lost its Hokage and was coming off a war and their jinchūriki is an untrained kid so they weren't in a great position.

From the POV of the series as a whole, I think that the Byakugan was not Kumo's only goal and they also wanted to resume the war, or at least didn't care if it happened. A says "In negotiations between shinobi, concessionary behaviours are taboo." They probably thought Hinata would have a powerful Byakugan, yes, but it was also a way to force Konoha's hand so they wouldn't have to stick to the peace treaty which went against their village's ethos.

Basically, my personal interpretation is they wanted Konoha to seem in the wrong, and even better start it, presumably so they wouldn't be able to get allies/Kumo could better sell resuming the war to citizens who were a fan of the peace treaty. And of course Kumo denies the kidnapping and Konoha can't exactly prove it happened. (Hyūga house needs CCTV.)

As Neji says:

They could have just gone "My b, didn't know he was going to do that, he went rogue, we had nothing to do with that," and instead they decided to double down and start pushing Konoha's buttons. This is not the behaviour of people who want peace. Even if it was 4D chess where they wanted Hiashi's body all along that was playing with fire, but they were confident enough to keep trying which says to me they knew they could get away with it.

I still think Hiruzen could have handled it better, like STEP ONE WHY WASN'T ANYONE MONITORING THIS ENEMY NIN? Step two why did they report this shit. They should have just said "Yeah this mf went rogue, what do you want us to do about it?" You have ninja who can copy anyone's appearance. Fake the Head Ninja leaving and taking off in the opposite direction! Why did they tell them that Hiashi was the one who killed him? Sometimes honesty is not the best policy!

F) Lee couldn't beat Neji! Neji losing to Naruto is kind of essential to him changing his perspective. (Neji also didn't know everything Lee could do, he's surprised to learn about Lee using the Gates.) After Lee loses to Gaara Neji hits us with the classic:

A Pyrrhic victory is a win where you suffer so much loss it's ultimately a defeat. The fan translation puts it better, I think, as he says "The heavens will not allow a pawn that can only seek victory at the cost of himself to advance." Short-term victory does not change your lot in life. This ties into my theory that the TnJ leads Neji to be far more self-sacrificing and run against his previous desire to survive. He came to see the value in putting your all out there, regardless of the consequence.

If Lee had ever managed to beat Neji, I'm sure it would have had a big effect; as it was, Lee's beliefs were just constantly invalidated by his inability to win.

What are your full thoughts on Sakura's confession to Naruto? I've seen some fans blame it on Sai as he "emotionally manipulated" Sakura into doing all she can to stop Naruto which led to the fake confession.

Thanks for this ask @dinainwater 👍🏼 I always wanted to talk about that arc where all the characters' motivations were clearly set up. Sorry for the late response, Sakura’s prompts always makes my skin crawl.

I never knew that Sakura wankers would retort to such tactics by shifting the blame on Sai. I've said this in many posts and I don't mind repeating it here. Sakura was always written as a narrative tool to propagate the main characters, Naruto and Sasuke. This was always the case right from chapter 3.

This is also the arc where Team 7′s loyalty was put under the microscope for us viewers to observe. What will Team 7 do, when they hear about Sasuke who turned into a wanted Criminal??

SAKURA’S FAKE CONFESSION 

Let’s start with Sai. He is also a member of Team 7. Sai doesn’t give a damn about Sasuke and he doesn’t have to. Because he never knew anything about him. But Sai really cared about Naruto more than Sakura ever did anything for Naruto combining Part 1 and Part 2. Unlike others, Sai started to care about Naruto because he saw something in him that reminded him of his brother Shin. Naruto didn’t have to prove anything to him to win his friendship like he did with Neji and others. In fact, Naruto hated him in the beginning.

Sai, a guy who couldn’t understand any feelings, has slowly started to understand something and he started to help/save Naruto without any motivations or expectations.

Well, I feel Kishi meant to parallel Sai with Sasuke not only in terms of looks but also when it comes to protecting him. 

That’s why Sai went to Sakura to call her out for being a lazy donkey by dumping all the works on Naruto whereas she was sitting on her cool Ass without doing anything.

Well, I want everyone to put yourself in Sai’s place. What would you have done?While Naruto is getting beaten up for Sasuke’s sake and Sakura is sitting there leaving everything with Naruto to deal with the rough parts.

Now the wankers may make silly excuses like, ‘Naruto asked her to leave it to him’.

I am asking them, ‘Well, That didn’t stop Sai from not following what Naruto was about to do. He was worried about Naruto and followed him to see what he was going to do. And defended him from Karui’s attacks. Why couldn’t Sakura do this?’.

All these panels proves,

Sakura doesn’t give 2 shits about Naruto. But Sai genuinely cares about him a lot.

Emotional manipulation is when someone uses their own feelings to make the other person feel guilty. I am pretty sure you all know who manipulated whom emotionally throughout the series. 

Sai was simply acting here as the viewers’ voice. I don’t know about how viewers felt about the confrontation scene. I felt that Sai was asking what I was feeling about Sakura, the whole time!!! 

Simply put,

“Just now, Karui beat Naruto into a pulp. He just doesn’t want to worry you by telling this. But why are you sitting simply without worrying about what’s happening to others? Do you really care about Naruto, a bit? You made some shitty promise with him some time ago and I don’t even know what it was. But he means to carry on that promise for the rest of his life because he likes you. Don’t you think you should take responsibility for putting such a burden on him?”

Now, This is where things get really interesting. Sai just observed Naruto’s behaviour around Sakura and concludes that Naruto is bearing all this pain for Sakura and to an extent for Sasuke but mostly for Sakura.

Sai comes to this conclusion because he never knew what happened between Naruto and Sasuke in part 1. He never saw their interaction or what’s going on between them. But Sakura does. 

Sai feels deeply empathetic towards Naruto’s sadness and doesn’t want him to get hurt anymore. Hence he is calling her out for her insensitiveness when asking Naruto to make a Life Time Promise. Sai went one step ahead and added that everyone relies on Naruto too much. As a friend, Sai thinks that they all should shoulder Naruto’s burden. 

There’s nothing wrong with Sai and his perspective.

Also, if he really intended to manipulate her, Sai shouldn’t have to tell Naruto about everything that had happened with Sakura and his Academy friends when he met him in the Land of Iron.

Even the most sensible Shikamaru thinks Sai was right.

For me, All of her Academy Classmates were speaking sense. Because, they were just observers. 

Simply put, Sai and Everyone thinks that Sasuke has joined Akatsuki, the organization which destroyed their Village to the ground and was also hunting Naruto. But Sakura’s promise is putting Naruto’s life at danger because they feel Naruto is doing these for the Life Time promise he made 3 years ago before all of her Academy Classmates because everyone knows that Naruto never go back on his words.

Where is the emotional manipulation here?

The only problem from their opinion is that they never factored the extent of Naruto’s and Sasuke’s relationship into the equation and it’s not their fault. Because no one knows. But Sakura knows, atleast a bit if not entirely. We, the audience knew what happened in the VoTE1.

Sakura openly acknowledged to Sai that Naruto considers Sasuke as his brother. She even saw Naruto fall into the ground and bawling like a baby when Sasuke left with Orochimaru.

Can’t she put 2+2 to know that, Naruto is not just doing this for her??

Well, Since when has she ever been emotionally perceptive of others’ feelings? She always thought everything revolved around her. So, it’s not really surprising. 

Well, in this scene I genuinely thought, She was going to do something good once and for all. 

What Sakura could have done?

She should’ve confronted to them like a strong woman (as much as her wankers portrays her to be), ‘Naruto is not doing this for me. He may love me. But He is doing this not just for me. I knew about Naruto better than anyone. He truly wanted to save Sasuke for himself as well. We all should talk about this to Naruto and decide later.”

But she didn’t!!!

Later Sakura went on and proposed to Naruto pathetically and got rebuffed. She really thought Naruto would believe her proposal. She still thinks ‘Naruto is an idiot’. Even Kiba couldn’t believe this bullshit. 

‘Sakura, You Dumb Biashhhh’, This is what Kiba must be thinking inside.

This is just another way for Kishi by dissing her and telling us that ‘Sakura never reached any emotional maturity. She is a self-absorbed girl who thinks that she is the center of everyone’s life. Sai, who spent very little time could understood Naruto better than Sakura, who was with him for a long time’.

From Writing point of View, 

Up until that point, Kishi tried to build some platonic crush between Naruto and Sakura. But he decided to break that crush by making Naruto reject her Fake Confession and prefer Sasuke over Sakura.

Furthermore, He used her as a tool to make Naruto and Sasuke meet under the bridge, which was the iconic scene of the entire Series and that’s the moment, that particular Arc was leading upto. The writer is telling us that, 

Even though Sakura wholeheartedly love Sasuke, when things don’t go well, she is not a person who will try to understand why Sasuke is doing whatever he did so far. Instead, she plunged right at him.

Even though Naruto likes Sakura, Sasuke trying to kill her will not evoke any kind of rage as one would display for their loved one when they gets hurt. Which means Naruto places Sasuke higher than Sakura.

Even though Sasuke plunged into the depth of darkness, seeing Sakura would not evoke any kind of positive feelings in him. But Naruto can. 

Even though Sasuke turned into a killing machine, and the entire world turned upon him including his former Team, the only person who will stand with him will be Naruto, no matter what.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Sai has nothing to do with her delusion. Sai simply spoke his perspective about Naruto and his pain, excluding Sasuke (because he didn’t know about him). As someone who knew both Sasuke and Naruto, Sakura should have a better judgement in this matter. But she didn’t. She made a fool out of herself by taking a worst decision to confess dishonestly before Naruto and tried to kill Sasuke without understanding what both of them are going through. 

Even if you live with this woman for 100 years, she is incapable of understanding anyone.

Shino Aburame Multiship List and my personal takes that no one asked for but I'm sharing anway because I just want to give Shino more love and maybe if anyone else has a take they can share? Idk! This concerns the Rookie Konoha Nin (Sai Included <3)

Shino.Hinata 7/10

Seems obvious enough on why it makes sense. In canon Shino, and Kiba, very much act like the older brothers she never had. They learn to rely on each other and get along more than others might expect at first. They're both from Noble Clans, and so obviously have a certain amount of pressure on them (though surely Team 10 felt the same way. And Sasuke, probably? maybe?), and that kinda helps their connection. Natural, soft, cute. Kind of dramatic when you start involving clan politics and things like that (or maybe that's just me lol). Unfortunately, despite my fondness for variety, I seriously can't help but mainly think of this ship as unrequited on Shino's part when I consider it more seriously and romantically. Something about... the trick your mind plays on you when you associate with someone frequently enough that you get a crush on them? Hm, I prefer their relationship as soft besties, supportive and not messy with romantic feelings. But yeah, they'd have a super cute and soft domestic life together for sure when I push past canon and just enjoy them together as a couple.

Shino.Kiba 7/10

When it comes to shipping Kiba and Shino, I just like how goofy it could get. Canon certainly provides fuel with these two being the only two not married or with children. I know Kiba has Tamaki, but just like so many other things in the series, Tamaki's introduction as Kiba's love interest feels... forced and last minute. As a ship, I like to think think of that classic ambivalent relationship where Kiba is super jealous of Shino, but realizes he's actually into Shino later on. Meanwhile Shino is annoyed as fuck, but also misses Kiba's company regardless. They didn't just magically become friends, there were a lot of hours put into their relationship! But because of that, they get along in a much more personal level compared to Kiba and Choji or Naruto and Shikamaru. So after that, just a lot of typical awkward and moody feelings because I think it's hilarious when lighthearted. More serious and angsty, the more I feel like it's not such a great ship, especially when it's pushed WAY too far by others in fandom and I see Kiba characterized as the token fuckboy (what?) and Shino as a passive nerd (WHAT?) that takes his shit willingly (W H A T ! ?) Shino 100% would never go down without a fight. That or he'd just leave to fight another day. But he's never gonna just STAND THERE? And Kiba? Kiba LOOKS TOUGH but Shino's probably made Kiba cry unintentionally, like, at least TWICE since teaming up as Genin!

Shino/Shikamaru 8/10

This is a ship where it would just be me shipping characters I simply like together. Lots of fans do this. I know Shikamaru is just a truly young and immature boy that deals with anxiety and low self confidence and grows into a man that is absolutely smitten by that one woman who wakes up and chooses violence everyday. I already love that, ShikaTema is my favorite canon ship in Naruto. But I also have this idea where Team 10 is literally the Queer Team in my head. Ino-Shika-Cho are all some kind of queer, and I just love them being so close and friends and just... yeah. ShikaCho and InoSaku, yeah? But in a world where I play up the drama in my head, Shikamaru and Shino I personally ship later in life? And... they're more interesting to me because it's NOT easy to apply a romantic relationship to! But it's still plausible in a way that I feel they would make the other "feel things" and not strictly romantic things, but compared to ShinoKiba and ShikaCho, ShikaShino is "Smart Guys Go Goofy in the Head Over Each Other" while KibaCho is "Childhood Friends Who Drifted Apart and are Reconnecting". Mostly Shikamaru who's initiating it and Shino resisting at first, but we all know Shikamaru is the best strategist of his time. It's not manipulation, it's understanding and effort and also building a better friendship as a base? Shino's still unpredictable, but that's what makes it so fun to weave as a story.

Shino.Choji 5/10

Honestly I didn't think about this ship too much before? The whole Cho/Butterfly thing with Shino associated with Insects gives way to some superficial jokes, but tbh, as I wrote this, I feel like Shino would be the one who falls for Choji first? Not because of the butterfly thing, but because of simply how caring and kind Choji is. He's so loyal and human with his insecurities and yeah, he's a dumb boy, but at his characters core, he is a GOOD character that was wasted, much like Shino. And even though ShikaCho is, like, obviously it, if Choji were to extend even half of a ShikaCho level of friendship to Shino, I think it's only logical that Shino would fall first because Choji is simply just kind and grounding in his own way. Similar in a way to how I see Shino.Hinata, but even more fucking confusing because Choji was a problem child, Shino is just Like That and also gay?? Oh yeah, and they're Dads work pretty well together? And they're both Nobles too? But literally the two Nobles that not even the common people take all that seriously lmao... Shino and Choji would be so shy I think though, that'd be cute.

Shino.Ino 8/10

Okay, so I actually LOVE flowers, and I do like learning about insects. Bugs and flowers go together very naturally. In world where Ino wasn't terrified of bugs or in love with Sakura (I NO SA KU) I could probably ship Ino and Shino pretty fondly actually. Especially when you take into account that Shino had a CANON glow up and though canon always writes Ino as a little superficial, all in all, I also like a sensorXsensor ship. Ino realizing she doesn't actually have to BE a Yamanaka sensor to "read" Shino because all she had to do was pay some fucking attention lmao. And I love me some petty Shino, and Shino being gently fixated on Ino because he was canonly in 2nd place because Ino's charismatic ass was 1st back in the academy (at least concerning the rookie 9 lol). I also see this ship as ambivalent, but not as argumentative as Shino/Kiba and more just getting to know each other with time, getting over first impressions! You can change them! I ALSO headcanon that Inoichi was the closest of his InoShikaCho team to Shibi back in their heyday, Inoichi actually having enough comfort in Shibi to straight up yell at Shibi about stuff and junk, and Shibi taking... most things to heart. (AKA Inoichi helped Shibi get with Shino's Mom lmao She was InoShikaCho's classmate). The Good Libra/Aquarius Ship

Shino.Naruto 3/10

Naruto is constantly disrespecting my man Shino. However, if Naruto were ever to come out of the closet (BECAUSE YES) and realized what a babe Shino really was later in life, and how GOOD at his job Shino really is, and how Shino is surprisingly gentle and caring with kids like Iruka-sensei was when he was still an instructor, Naruto's whole idea of Shino could do a 180. Shino, bug boy who blew off a kids arms off because HE COULD. Shino, ever the stickler. Shino, who ACTUALLY threatened Naruto to never speak of that one mission ever again. Shino who holds grudges and aimed his murderous aura at Naruto more than once... And then you have Shino, who just wanted to know that Naruto cared about him as a friend, but instead you get dumbass Naruto suddenly all in Shino's business and really acting WEIRD and Shino is really unsure how to handle it all, but he's not easily impressed, so Naruto just keeps trying. That, or like... I get a 2000's movie vibe from these two somehow. Like... American Pie levels of stupid, or Fired Up but not quite GR!ND... closer to Blades of Glory but DEFINITELY NOT Superbad or later... It works out in the end and it's not THAT funny but it still makes you laugh?? Naruto is the dumbass but Shino gets knocked off his high horse and gets dragged along with him for the ride and that's the best part lol

Shino.Saku 2/10

Equally matched in intellect... Otherwise I don't know.... how... But I think... Maybe Shino came in handy with the Chakra reserves? Sakura was on her way, being the top notch medic nin she is, but Shino was able to keep the Pt/Victim stabilized with chakra replenishment via his Kikaichu? New found respect? Not a very likely ship, though I can see their professional relationship very well! Aburame specialize in Ninja Arts, obviously, but do y'all realize just how handy bugs can be when it comes to medicine and treatment? Shit is pretty cool! Medical honey infection control, sterilized maggot debridement, oil beetle cantharidin wart removal, fruit flies can even be used to detect cancer? (Idk lol)

Shino.Sasuke 5/10

Again, if Sasuke ever were to come out of the closet. But even so, it's so crazy how Sasuke is able to recognize Shino and just be like, "Oh, it's you." Shino REALLY down about not being able to bring Sasuke back, and Sasuke becoming aware. Or Shino ACTUALLY on the Sasuke mission and being ESSENTIAL in the success of the mission and Sasuke, defeated, KNOWING IT, and hating everything, but as time goes on, being thankful, even though it's often overlooked. Sasuke and Shino becoming closer friends, apart from their respective teams. Both from Noble Clans... I just want them to be friends tho tbh

Shino.Lee 6/10

I can see it, but it's kinda hard!! Lee and Shino can be equally intense. But it's the difference between Sunlight and Gravity. Like, Lee is such a good boy though and when I ship Shino and Ino, Lee gets to sweep Sakura off her feet. And Shino ADMIRES Lee, he really does, and I can see him standing up for Lee and Lee really appreciating it too. But idk, this would be one of the slowest of burns, but it WOULD be cute now that I think about it! Like, legit it'd be so positive awwww...

Shino.Neji 6/10

Kind of like a combination of Shino/Hinata and Shino/Sasuke? Shino absolutely ready to murder Neji after what happened to Hinata, but then Hinata and Neji slowly build a relationship, and Shino is happy for Hinata but still weary about Neji. Neji being kind of priss and uneasy around Shino, but they both care about Hinata enough to try and get along. Smart, tolerable, very much about the Shinobi mentality. Mutual respect? Admiration from afar? Hinata getting tired of their prideful shy boy bullshit and planning shit with Kiba and Lee and TenTen? Idk lol (As far as crack goes, I've seen more KibaNeji personally??? It's an odd one!)

Shino.Tenten 6/10

Can be a case of pairing spares, but regardless of canon, it could be cute? I do love that Tenten has some sass of her as well! As with Shino and Sasuke I would have liked these two to be better friends than anything else, just for a chance to see their dynamics?? I'm more of the headcanon that Tenten and Shino are both queer and ACTUALLY Tenten is THE mean lesbian who also didn't realize she was a lesbian but also doesn't grow into her queer self until later. Same with Shino but he's just SO quiet about it, not mean because if it. He's just mean lol. They're mean together.

Shino.Sai 8/10

Bro, these two get along so well!! I feel like there's already a lot of mutual respect between them when they first meet. They size each other up some, but keep it light and don't do anything unecessary. They're both very "clean". BUT, unlike Shikamaru and Neji, and like Sasuke but he's always absent, Shino and Sai are just so weird in themselves and I think that's part of the fun. They made up their own little fucking club in the games SPECIFICALLY to mess with Naruto, like... they can both murder you easily on their own but then you see them together and they have that soft boy/enby aura about them?? I also ship it asexually, but also unbelievably and almost embarrassingly romantic "as time passes". They're own brand of romance. A slow but very natural and warm burn. Yet you don't get to see those moments. They're not for you <3

okay so i made a long rant once so i will make it short this time so. first, their dynamic is just so good and fun to watch like you can say whatever you want about sns but one thing you will never get to call them is boring. two, they have every trope i love im not joking sometimes i feel like kishimoto wrote sns after reading my ship bingo or whtv. and three, they are just both batshit insane which is very pleasant to me.

i also have said this before and i dont think its unpopular other people agree but still. i hate when in fics or other fanworks post canon people make sasuke act like as if he has to atone or even beg naruto for forgiveness for leaving the village etc etc. for one is not in character for either of them and two sasuke has nothing to atone for, even naruto himself knows this.

Which Naruto characters would replace the MHA characters more accurately in MHA AU?

Here is what I think:

Naruto Uzumaki ➡ Mirio Togata

Naruto is a lot of things but nervous and shy isn't one of them. Izuku may be the protagonist of MHA but Naruto is like Izuku only in terms of his desire to protect everything that breathes, oblivious towards the blatant interest of opposite sex and their determination to succeed.

Mirio, on the other hand, is optimistic and shares same sentiment towards helping others. He, like Naruto, is not the brightest student and can be dumb and goofy. He is also a jokester of sorts and makes fool of himself like Naruto. Both of them are very hardworking and train themselves to master hardest techniques.

Naruto's quirk: Pressure control

Sakura Haruno ➡ Kyoka Jirou, Ochako Uraraka

Jirou is cool, smart, level-headed and quite aggressive. Sakura is book smart, is dry when she wants to be, isn't afraid to put people in their places when they show disobedience or act silly, and has leadership qualities. Both are self-conscious of their looks and bodies and have aversion to horror settings.

Ochako and Sakura are both strong willed, both work hard to be useful to their friends and don't want to left behind. Both are competitive, friendly and kind. Both become shy in front of their love interest. Ochako wants to become a good hero to support her parents and help people, Sakura worked to truly become a shinobi to stand beside her teammates. Ochako cares deeply for Deku, regardless of her feelings for him, like Sakura towards Naruto.

Sakura's quirk: Super strength

Sasuke Uchiha ➡ Shouto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugou

Both Shouto and Sasuke are cool, quiet, impassive and blunt. They are top students of their class and are popular for their pretty-boy looks and their powers. They both are from influential families and have a strained relationship with their father and older brother who is a villain. They both are intelligent and top of their classes.

Katsuki and Sasuke are arrogant, tend to look down on others and desire to be on the top. They tend to snap at their rivals and often lose their cool in their presence. Both secretly cherish and care for their friends, but are really bad ar outwardly expressing them. They are antisocial and prefer to train over socialising.

Sasuke's quirk: Electricity

Shikamaru Nara ➡ Shinsou Hitoshi

Both are straightforward and clever enough to be one step ahead of the rest. Both are antisocial yet have many friends who are absolute sunshiand are manipulative when they want to be. Both have their mentor's quirks passed onto them – smoking and love for cats.

Shikamaru's quirk: Shadow control

Rock Lee ➡ Eijirou Kirishima

Both are overly enthusiastic about manly things and youth, have optimistic personalities and are insensitive to what people says about them. They care and believe in their friend – Neji/Bakugo – no matter how they shun him away.

Lee's quirk: Speed

Both are not afraid to speak their minds and are very stoic individuals who rarely show emotions. While both are blunt and to the point, they also are compassionate and care for their friends deeply. They are also very supportive and reliable individuals which makes them great partners.

They both have been manipulated by Sensei/Madara. They both wanted to ruin Shinobi villages/Heros of the world for what they were manipulated into believing a greater cause. They both hide their true identity from the rest of their allies, behind hands and reanimated body. Both, as a child, were kind, compassionate and desired to help others.

Personality-wise, both are similar in some ways – aloof, confident, smart, stoic and cautious. Both often taunt their brothers by pulling on their abilities and weaknesses, however, their intentions couldn't be more different. If Itachi had been a true villain with no martyr tendencies, only rightly placed anger, then he could be considered as true Dabi of Naruto universe.

Both find their wards troublesome and causes trouble to them as much as they could, but they both secretly love them to death. Both have protective steaks in them and always turn 180 on their enemies who dare to pose threat to their kids. Both have distinctive – Aizawa usuallu has his sleeping bag with him and Kakashi always have his porn with him.

Both are revered as idols and are considered the strongest heroes. Hashirama established the idea of 'will of fire' and All Might is considered the 'symbol of peace', which is an idea of goodwill. Both are jubilant individuals, brimming with positivity and strength. They are always shown smiling and have inspiring personalities that are well-liked by others. Hashirama, like Yagi, have serious streak in him which is in contrast to his normal, cheerful attitude.

Need I say? The boss villains whose powers rival the likes of Hashirama and All Might. Madara is better person than Sensei of course, but both are terrifying, manipulative, have animosity against Hashirama/All Might and can be considered the Symbol of Evil. Both are power-hungry, ruthless and manipulative. Despite their merciless nature, they also seem to love their younger brother.

Tsunade Senju ➡ Healing girl/Chiyo Shuzenji

Both are old women. Like Chiyo, Tsunade is kind and compassionate, but also harsh and chiding towards crazy and reckless people. They are both expert doctors.

I had so much fun comparing the characters of my two favourite fandoms for this post. As far as abilities goes, I am happy with this list. I think Fire Control is the most overused ability ever. Gravity manipulation is my favourite ability; if you can increase and decrease the gravity then you are nearly the strongest person. Madara is that. It's insane how strong he is in Naruto, I didn't give him all that credit here.

Shino is the weird wicked smart bug kid that names all of his beetles and will enthusiastically show them to you and he seems cold and emotionless most of the time but he hears everything and will show up at your house at 4 in the morning like “I heard you were talking shit about me, bitch.” Hinata is the sweetest ray of sunshine that cares about her friends more then literally anything else and because she’s a rich girl she’s friends with Sasuke but on the down low she’s so kind and she hardly ever talks about her personal issues but like every single one of the 9 would suplex her dad if they ever got the chance no questions asked.

Lee is weird and straight laced but also really loud and annoying, like a teachers pet that even the teacher doesn’t know what the fuck is going on with. Neji hates the fucking world and wants you to know it (and like fair king tbh fuck it up) but he also gets the best grades ever and is super loved by all his teachers even though he could out curse any sailor at any time regardless of circumstance. Tenten is weird she acts normal and is absolutely ordinary but everybody gets the feeling that one day she’ll snap and murder everybody in the room and like they love her but they keep their fucking distance if they value their heads.

Inoshikacho is like that one groups of friends who have nothing to do with eachother if their parents weren’t friends but they’ve been stuck to eachother like super glue ever since elementary school and there’s no going back now bitch. Ino is kind of a bitch and she talks shit but she has a moral compass for the most part and is genuinely a good person overall but spite her and she will fuck you up and ruin your life just because. Choji is laid back and chill and really really well adjusted and commonly gives sage advice out of nowhere because he’s probably the most mentally stable out of all of them tbh he just eats chips and tells jokes. Shikamaru is that kid who could probably outsmart Albert Einstein but he won’t ever turn in his fucking homework because of executive dysfunction so he just. He just sit there. People tends to think of him as a stupid stoner but he secretly knows everybodies secrets and darkest insecurities by heart.

And don’t even get me fucking started on Team Taka. Suigetsu is incredibly slutty but will also fight you for funsies and he looks harmless but he can fuck shit up if he feels like it aswell as get himself into the weirdest most convoluted situations you’ve ever seen. Karin is smart and tells it like it is always, everybody values her honesty and wit. She holds the brain cells, and only her. Juugo is a big scary looking tough guy that also owns a hundred different animals and feeds the squirrels and birds and meditates all the time even though he looks like a truck. Ino Yamanaka

🌼Ino would be similar to Sakura. She’s the clingy and delusional Yandere. She thinks her and her darling are perfect together and there’s no way her s/o will be able to go anywhere without her.

🌼Also the manipulative Yandere. Ino can be so charming if she wants to be and how can her darling reject her when she looks so gorgeous and asks so sweetly? Her abilities can be useful in here as well since she might use them on the darling to control them without them realizing it. But just like Sakura she’ll use the ‘Please don’t act like Sasuke’ card on her s/o to guilt trip them. To my huge surprise I can see her as the controlling Yandere. She wants her darling to rely and trust her with everything they do. She wants them to depend on her as much as possible.

🌼Ino doesn’t have the calmest and most patient character and everyone will notice her jealousy. They should better leave her darling alone before Ino snaps and starts throwing a tantrum. She’s truly scary when she’s jealous.

🌼Why killing when her jutsu is so much more effective? She can just control someone with her jutsu and make them screw up big without doing much. Since she has been taught by Tsunade she isn’t all into killing. With her mind controlling jutsu she can cause much more damage.

🌼I think given her charm she’ll be most likely able to go into a relationship with her darling. She doesn’t really like the idea of kidnapping her darling and why do that if a little bit mind controlling is all that is needed? But she would only do that if she confesses to her darling and they reject her or want to break up with her.

🌼Ino would be a really gorgeous and charming girlfriend and it might be able to work out in a more or less “normal” relationship if we put her terrible jealousy and her wish that you depend on her aside. But the moment she’s forced to use her jutsu on you is the moment it gets twisted since she’s able to control you without you even realizing that you’re being controlled. You were just about to break up with her? Suddenly it feels like you fall in love with her all over again. How could you even think about leaving her? She has you wrapped around her fingers when she does this. Don’t get the wrong idea. She wants you to love her without needing to use her powers, but a little push might help, right?

Shikamaru Nara

🦌That’s a hard one to grasp as a Yandere, but let’s see. Shikamaru is the obsessive and aware Yandere. This guy is terrifying smart and knows that his feelings can’t be seen as normal. He might even feel a bit ashamed that he feels that way. He might appear uninterested in his darling when he talks to them, but that’s a lie. He sneaks slyly questions or sentences in to get a reaction from his darling. Their language, way of speaking, movements, behavior, he’ll analyze it all carefully and attentively. This makes him a perfect manipulative one. He doesn’t really want to use that on the s/o, but sometimes he can’t help, but let the one or other sentence in to get the wanted reaction from them. He knows what he has to do and say.

🦌A stalker. This gives him the perfect opportunity to analyze his darling when they’re confronted with other situations and he also knows that if he spends too much time with his darling others might get suspicious. To be honest, stalking them is such a drag, but he has no other choice. I guess after he lost his sensei he might also become the overprotective one, realizing how fast he can lose people in this world.

🦌Shikamaru is pretty chill about his darling interacting with other people. He doesn’t have much of a problem. But he gets jealous when he notices that you show a liking to someone or the other way around, he knows it from the body language and the behavior. If he is stalking them he won’t interfere as long as no one gets too touchy. If he’s with his s/o at that time he reacts passive aggressive towards the other person.

🦌That’s too much of a drag. Shikamaru is very reasonable with the people around his s/o. He’ll rely more on manipulation and might spread some rumors about them or might humiliate them in public with his shadow possession jutsu. To bring this guy to kill someone they would have to attempt to kill his darling and hurt them. Then he’ll get flashbacks from how his sensei died and will come up with a cruel strategy how to get rid of that person.

🦌He’s as mentioned ashamed that he feels like this and will try to avoid this possibility. But if he witnesses his darling getting harmed his overprotectiveness will get the better of him. He’ll use manipulations to bring the s/o “willingly” to stay in their house, telling them that he’s just worried and that he doesn’t want to lose another person precious to him.

🦌Shikamaru is a very chill Yandere as long as he isn’t triggered enough. He tries to not show his Yandere tendencies too much and with him it might be able to have a not too messed up relationship. But don’t underestimate him. His intelligence makes him really dangerous for you and those who managed to anger him enough.

Karin Uzumaki

♦️Karin is the clingy and lovestruck one. You do remember how she acted towards Sasuke and it’s much more worse with her darling. There’s no space left to breathe and she’s absolutely the type to force her affections on her s/o. Cuddles, kisses, holding hands, whatever you can think of. Her darling is in her eyes the most beautiful and amazing person that has ever walked on this planet. Obsessive and more than just obvious with it. The type to steal your clothes and wear them.

♦️Also the overprotective Yandere. She was used and mistreated after all in her past because she’s an Uzumaki and has no intention on ever letting something like this happen to her darling. Delusional, she believes that everything is fine between the two of you and that you are in love with each other. Probably even a small masochistic because do you remember the scene in the fight with Killer B where Sasuke bit her so that he could heal and her reaction to it?

♦️Bad temper! She starts yelling and cursing as soon as someone looks at you. It’s honestly a bit embarrassing for her darling. If someone dares to make a comment about her s/o they need to hold Karin back or else she’ll smack that asshole.

♦️She does have a bad temper and curses at anyone near you, but dogs who bark don’t bite. Most of the time. Karin beats the living shit out of everyone who doesn’t treat you like the perfect being she thinks you are. As long as no one hurts or makes her darling cry that’s enough for her. But god forbid the person who sinned that badly to scratch her darling or make them cry because then Karin will lose it.

♦️It’s not kidnapping. It’s spending time with the love of her life. Karin requires a lot of time with her s/o and if they ignore her or don’t want to spend time with her she’ll see it as a sign that they want to spend time with her. She has the key to your house and will invite herself in whenever she wants too. Don’t ask her how she got it. Trying to escape won’t be from use either, she’ll just sense your chakra and will always find you.

♦️Karin is a terrible Yandere. Not because she’s mean or hurts you, but because she’s so extremely clingy. She mistakes every sign of rejection you show her for the complete opposite. Her jealousy is horrible as well and people will start to avoid you because they don’t want to get yelled at. She steals all of your things and wears them herself. In short she’s annoying.

Shisui Uchiha

🍂Shisui is the aware type of Yandere. He knows that this isn’t really love, but something darker and is ashamed of it. He is the overprotective Yandere. He feels still guilty for letting his friend die back then because he refused to help him and is on a daily base faced with dangerous situations and he swore to himself that he will protect his s/o.

🍂Shisui is also a stalker, choosing to watch from a distance. He’s very sharp in noticing smaller details, making him an obsessive one as well. This guy has also talent for the manipulative type since he can see through the emotional nature of others and is in general a very clever person.

🍂Shisui hates himself for feeling this way and wishes his darling to be happy. With the amount of patience he possesses he can stand a lot of talking and even slight flirting. He only starts feeling jealous when his s/o shows very strongly that they like someone.

🍂Shisui wouldn’t kill if it isn’t needed. Most of the time he can give persons a warning and can discuss the issue more politely with them. If someone won’t stand away from his darling despite the warning he’ll use genjutsu at first and trap them in with their greatest nightmare. He only kills as a last resort when someone exposes himself as a serious threat to his darling or is about to tell everyone about his unhealthy felling for the s/o. Then he sees himself cornered.

🍂He would really, really like to avoid this topic for preferably forever since he would never be able to look at himself properly again when he does this. But here again, if he’s cornered enough and with no other options left he’ll do it. Two possibilities where this might happen are when you’re either attacked and he couldn’t protect you or when you find out about his obsession with you and try to warn his clan and ask for help.

🍂Shisui can be a great boyfriend as long as he isn’t triggered enough. He has a lot of patience and awareness of his feelings mixed together with amazing self control. But he’s also really dangerous. He is respected by his clan and the third Hokage, he possesses strong powers and is really smart what makes a more than deadly mix for those who anger him enough and for you because you won’t be able to escape him. And don’t forget that even though he is really calm and gentle with you that this doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. He hates punishing you, but he’ll do it if you give him no other option. He’ll use genjutsu on you if he punishes you.

Mei Terumi

🔵Mei is the lovestruck, delusional and obsessive Yandere. She adores her darling a lot and believes that they are the person she has waited for her whole life and this fuels her desire to get to know them better as often and much as possible. This makes her the clingy type as well and the both of you will often be seen doing PDA.

🔵She’s also the manipulative type. Let’s be honest, Mei is beautiful and very witty and charming and also the Mizukage. She has the looks and powers and she can make her darling almost enchanted with her if she wants too.

🔵She’s rather sensitive to the topic of her darling being with other people, but she can hold for a short while on. But she loses her cool rather fastly when someone insults her darling. Then she’ll threaten to kill that person. She misunderstands things often so there’ll be a lot of people who she threatens to kill. Not like anyone would dare to make a move on the Mizukage’s darling.

🔵No villager is dumb enough to harm the s/o so there might not even be a reason for her to kill someone. Her darling is greatly protected by the Shinobi of Kirigakure and Mei herself. If a villager however does harm the s/o there will be harsh and cruel punishments, but she won’t kill as long as the person apologizes and won’t do it again. This is special treatment for villagers. If it’s someone from outside the village then this might turn out really ugly.

🔵Mei won’t kidnap them if they don’t reject her affections or are in danger. She’s someone who likes to show her darling off to the village and who likes it when the both of you are seen together. She loves it when people talk about how happy and great you look together.

🔵Mei is the type to spoil her darling if they behave well and to be honest you should consider yourself as lucky to have her as your girlfriend. She has everything someone could ask for. However, Mei doesn’t fear to manipulate, bribe and blackmail you if she has to since she believes that you are meant to be together. I can see her as someone who would go as far as paying people to attack you so she can step in and save you so you’ll see her as a hero. She really just wants to take care of you. But I think it isn’t necessary to go that far since she already has you hooked up with her charm and wits. It is hard to not fall in love with this woman here.

Yugito Nii

🐅I didn’t see much of her, but I tried my best. She’s the aware type of Yandere. She knows that her feelings aren’t normal and will try to control them. She does have her tailed beast under control, but she can’t be careful enough. Also on the bit stricter side, not terribly, but there are some things she wishes her darling would act to her opinion accordingly on and she will scold them if they don’t act the way she wishes them to.

🐅She’s also the overprotective Yandere. Even though she is now respected by everyone she was hated when she was younger and there might be still some people who hate her and might use her darling as a bait. Also the manipulative Yandere. She’s calm and smart and will manipulate her darling if she’s forced to.

🐅As mentioned rather calm. She’ll let her darling interact with other people and can control her jealousy. But when she realizes that she reaches her limits she will come in and interrupt the interaction. She’ll never admit openly that she’s jealous since she’s a pretty proud person.

🐅It would be rather easy for her to dispose her enemies since she’s a jinchuriki, but that would break all the trust the villagers now have in her. Trust that she worked her ass off for. So she won’t kill unless it’s not a very serious situation where you’re being attacked and the enemy is dead serious about killing her s/o. She isn’t someone who misuses the power given to her unless she faces a strong enemy.

🐅She wouldn’t want to use such methods if there’s a way to avoid it. She would only does it if someone targets her darling. Yugito will most like be able to talk her darling into staying at home in such situations since she knows what she has to say.

🐅Yugito is a proud and wise woman who is sometimes a bit harsh on you, but she also knows that she shouldn’t feel that way and will try to not show her Yandere side too much. She’s also reasonable with you and would never force you to anything unless you’re in danger. And she does have a soft spot for you even though she doesn’t show it too often.

Yagura Karatachi

🐢His Yandere type depends on whether he was at that time under Tobi’s control or not. If not he’s the obsessive, calm and aware one. He knows about his wrong feelings and will try to keep them under control. He is very calm and composed, but can also be very talkative and curious when it comes to his darling and might steal here and there some things from them. I can also see him as the overprotective and clingy type. Kirigakure has this brutal ritual that everyone has to undergo in order to become a genin and became the jinchuriki of the three-tailed at a very young age. He might be able to handle all this, but he isn’t too sure about his darling and will try to stick to their side as long and often as possible.

🐢If he’s being manipulated from Tobi then he’s the obsessive, aware, possessive, manipulative and violent type. He’ll be much more forceful with his obsessive tendencies and will steal whatever he likes from his darling and uses his influence to get all the informations he wants. He still knows that his feelings are wrong, but now he doesn’t care anymore and will just take what he desires. Shamelessly blackmails and threatens his s/o to get them to stay with him and at least pretend to love him or else he’ll kill their closed ones. He’ll be more willing to hurt them both, physically and mentally if they don’t behave. Also the controlling, isolating and removal type. He wants to control his darling’s life and if they anger him he’ll not only make sure that they never see other humans again, no, he’ll also kill everyone they love so he’s their only option left.

🐢If he’s not under Tobi’s control he’ll hold on for a while, but he gets jealous rather fastly and will after some time tell the other person politely to go. If someone mentions his rather childish looks he might have a small outburst since this is a sensitive topic for him. If both of you are in private and you pay attention to something else he might even have a more childish reaction and pout for your attention. If he’s being controlled then it’s unlikely that he has reasons to be jealous since he keeps his darling somewhere locked up, but if they pay attention to something else then he’ll have a scary outburst. They should better pay attention to him if they don’t want to get punished.

🐢Yagura is the Mizukage and holds some power which he will use to ruin someone’s life if the situation calls for it, but only if someone really gave him a reason to. That doesn’t count for the manipulated Yagura. If he finds out that someone searches for his darling which is kept in a safe house that person is as good as dead. Same goes for if his darling loves someone else even if it’s just sibling-like love. His possessiveness of being the only one to own their heart shines through in here.

🐢Yagura tries to hide his Yandere side and since he’s the clingy one and is most of the time near his darling there’s no reason for him to lock them in. Only if he’s needy for their attention and love or if there might be danger he’ll keep his darling trapped in a place. If he’s being controlled then there’s no question that he’ll kidnap the s/o almost instantly after discovering his dark feelings.

🐢It’s kind of obvious that he’s all messed up after put under Tobi’s genjutsu. He’s nothing, but terrifying and will use any means necessary to ensure that you can’t escape his grip. But before that he’s a much more easier Yandere who was much more patient with his darling and far more harmless. He’s not to blame, it’s Tobi’s fault.

Utakata

▪️Utakata is the aware and overprotective Yandere. He knows that these feelings he has for his s/o are dangerous and tries to cover them most of the time up. He experienced some shocking events in the past and believes that his master has betrayed him and since he went rogue he’s constantly hunted by the hunter-nin from Kirigakure so it’s understandable that he’s very overprotective.

▪️Also the possessive and slightly harsh, yet at the same time soft and desperate Yandere. He left his village and everything he ever trusted and believed in was shattered so he grasps almost desperately onto the only thing that this world left him. You. He has problems in acknowledging his strong feelings for his darling and might sometimes be a bit mean to them because of this, but he can also become really gentle and caring if he wants to be. He doesn’t have anyone left anymore so all he really wants is at least one person who he can trust and love.

▪️He’s constantly on the run so there aren’t many chances for him to be jealous. If they do come under people he’s fine with his darling talking to other people since he knows that they won’t stay long anyways. However, if someone gets too close to his darling he does step in. He can come over as quite impolite with his way of speaking and is the type to act passive aggressive.

▪️He has already enough troubles with being hunted down so the last thing he wants to do is killing someone and dealing with all the problems. It isn’t very smart to kill someone because this might lead to the hunting-nin finding him faster and he’s also the type who wants to avoid troubles. He only kills someone if this person attacks his darling and won’t back off.

▪️He needed to kidnap his s/o in order to keep them with him. He didn’t want to do it, but he couldn’t fight his inner desire.

▪️Utakata isn’t the worst one from this list. He has patience with you and knows that he ruined your whole life when forcing you to come with him. He is angry with himself that he feels this way and will sometimes let his frustration out on you, but he apologizes later on and tries to make it up for you. But the circumstances you’re under are pretty bad. You’ll most likely never see your family again and can’t even contact them because the Hunter-nin might find out about it. It’s exhausting to wander from place to place.

Fuu

🐛Fuu is the lovestruck and clingy Yandere. She’s so in love with her darling and sees them as pure beauty. She supports whatever her darling does and believes that whatever they say is right. If someone disagrees with her darling’s opinion this girl won’t stop arguing with the person until they admit that her darling is right. She’s all over her darling and probably one of the biggest fans of PDA.

🐛Also the delusional Yandere. She’s convinced that her darling and her are perfect for each other and that no one else is better for her darling than her.

🐛She gets fastly jealous since she’s needy for her darling’s attention. She’ll clinge desperately onto her darling’s arm and will constantly tug on their sleeves or poke them until they give her attention. If someone makes her darling uncomfortable or gets too touchy with them she’ll interrupt quickly and won’t stop talking about how they shouldn’t do this and that you are already taken and and and.

🐛I honestly can’t see her as someone who would ever attempt to kill someone, she’s way too innocent and social for that. She’s more the type to embarrass the person in public.

🐛She also isn’t the type to kidnap. She’s basically glued to her darling’s side 24/7 so there’s no need to kidnap them. The closest that gets to kidnapping when she forces her darling to let her spend the night in her house for a pyjama party.

🐛Fuu is a pretty innocent bean and a very tame Yandere. You can easily manipulate her since she’s almost blinded by her love for you. Would never harm you or manipulate you. The only thing annoying in here is her constant need for attention and that she smothers you in affection.

🎇Does anyone even remember him? He was so briefly introduced, but for some reason popped in my head up whilst I was doing this so I decided to put him in. C is the aware and strict type of Yandere. He knows that his feelings are completely wrong and was at the beginning annoyed by this because it kept him distracted from focusing fully on his duties, but eventually he learned to accept them. It’s more than important for him that no one finds out how forced his relationship with his darling is and expects them to behave properly. This makes him the controlling one since he needs to make sure that his darling doesn’t get the chance of telling someone how he really is.

🎇Also the obsessive, possessive and manipulative type. I can imagine him as a really charming one who is talented in lying and will get his darling to dedicate most of their time with him. He has never experienced such abnormal feelings and that sparks his curiosity in why he feels this way about the s/o. What is it that makes them so special? He doesn’t know, but he’ll make sure to find out. His feelings also lead him to the point where he’ll become incredibly possessive over his darling, wanting to keep them for himself.

🎇He dislikes it when his darling spends time with other people and enjoys their presence. The only persons where he will hold back if they want to talk with his s/o are Darui, Killer B and the Raikage. But with everyone else it’ll be different. He’ll start telling his darling rumors about their family and friends. You want to see them? How funny. He overheard them talking about how annoying you are recently. Due to his manipulation you’ll start to avoid and isolate yourself from other people.

🎇He has a high position and is respected by the Raikage so he has to be smart about this. He’ll rely more on manipulation in such situations. Killing would only be used as a last resort and he has to plan carefully for this so that no trace will lead to him.

🎇Kidnapping is under his dignity. He makes it smarter. He’ll wrap his darling up in enough lies until they believe that they can’t trust anyone except him and will come willingly to him. If you should however try to escape him he’ll lock you up in a dark and empty room, not letting you see any sunlight or even the trace of a human anywhere near. Not even he will spend much time with you, only bringing you food and then leave. He keeps this up until you beg and cry for his attention and affection.

🎇If he would be a Yandere he would be a horrible one. Manipulative Yanderes are never funny to be with. He’ll have you think that you’re alone in this world and will make you paranoid around people so that you won’t leave his side. He’ll manipulate you until you’re exactly like he wants you to be. Dependent on only him.
