#nano word count

I try to not define myself by this but it looks so depressing.

I decided that I'll consider NaNoWriMo a success even if I only write one sentence but this is hard to look at. At the same time I am glad I've even written this much.

Anyone else struggling with this, I hope you know you're not alone and it's okay to go at your own pace! NaNo is not achiavable for some and it's fine if you're one of them. It's also totally fine if you succeeded last year and not this year. You are great!

Wait, so nanowrimo is going through a 'promoting ai in a creative not for (the organization's) profit community where people may or may not choose to share their wips and are required (iirc) or encouraged to upload their finished first drafts to the website for an official word count' controversy AND a 'harboring groomers and abusers in their forum volunteers and IRL meetup volunteers and not removing them fast enough' controversy at the same time?

i was rereading different parts of the royal au and i got to neil calling andrew "my star" and my mind immediately added north to it and i read it as "my north star" and then i remembered that that's the star people always use to find home. cause andrew is neil's home.

Ways to add to your Word Count (For Nano):

Write any scene (it doesn’t have to be in order).

Write dialogue.

Outline or write some plot points.

Don’t delete. If you remove a scene, a paragraph, a line: count it. You wrote it. It counts.

Write setting descriptions.

Write character descriptions.

Write last line ideas.

y'all i've been upset about nanowrimo's shenanigans since last year, when kids weren't safe, and now there's this AI shitshow, and i want to cry about it again, because nano has been SO IMPORTANT to me since 2008--it helped me hack my writing process and make a bunch of cool shit, and i've written so many stories i love using it as a jumping off point. but. we gotta protect kids, and we gotta get the fuck out of here with AI bullshit.

so. the decision i have come to is that i will still be participating in nano. but now it stands for "now a's [that's me] novel writing month." i'm still going to write a book in november, and i'm still going to shoot for the 1,667 words/day (even though my finished projects wind up way longer than that, invariably), because i've structured my creative life around this routine, but i won't be using their site any more.

i will also not be tagging my november project posts as nanowrimo, but i WILL still be tagging them as "nano[YEAR]" (because that's been my tagging system for untitled projects for uh. years.). and it's now a's novel writing month :)

NaNo Day 1

1882 Chenford-related words written so far. I'd say it was a good first day of writing.

I'm not writing a novel. I don't have the time or the energy to create something entirely new. My goal is to write as much fanfiction as possible.

If anyone wants to join on this adventure, please, let's have a bit of fun together.

Lost electricity this evening and so that meant I lost any motivation I had to write, so I guess I'll just catch up on commenting on fanfics and submit more to the quotes page. Which honestly is an equally productive use of my time. Before the motivation was lost I had little Tiramisu bunnies whispering - we get some jealous Timothy so that's going to be exciting to write. Jealous Timothy is just another version of season 2 Timothy where all focus is on work because distractions are dangerous... and Lucy's a big ol' distraction in a very delightful package. Who knew.

Finished NaNoWriMo!

It’s my first year doing NaNoWriMo, and I’m busy with school and stuff, so my goal was only 10k words, but I reached it!

Since I finished early, I’m aiming for 11,000 by the end of the month and to write everyday.
