C’m’on, Namor Nation, where’s the humor?

OK. Someone at least has to be not even remotely serious about the Talokan theme.

When I first saw the topic, I thought of this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the Wakanda Forever movie when we see Talokan denizens playing this mesoamerican ancestor to basketball underwater.

And I said to myself: underwater? But it changes everything with so different a gravity! It’s easier to reach the hoop! Then, the devil constantly sitting on my shoulder started cackling, obviously, when we got to know more about Attuma in the movie and this competitive streak of his.

So… Here’s a doodle, because frankly I’m too tired, I have too little time, and I very much hope someone who draws better will give me a good version of this one day. (I BEG YOU. I NEED THE LAUGH.)

Attuma is totally the one who’ll get too enthusiastic and competitive and will find himself going right through the hoop with the ball. AND GET STUCK. To Namora’s utter delight. And Namor’s utter despair. (Because imagine the number of Talokan youths he has seen in the same predicament over the centuries… right?)

Namor Week 2023

Day 4 - Alternate Universe

Miyamoto Namor was created by Greg Pak and Steven Segovia. He appeared in X-Treme X-Men (2013) 10 and 11.

In his universe, he left Atlantis to fight for Imperial Japan and Xavier brought the British over to the side of the Axis, who won WWII. After the war, Xavier killed the leaders of his allies to rule supreme. Atlantis then flooded the world, killing most of the surface dwellers. While Namor was confronting Atlantis, Xavier destroyed them in a sneak attack.

Miyamoto Namor had been searching for this evil version of Xavier for a decade, when X-Men team of variants appeared and discovered Xavier, prompting a long over due clash between the two mutants of Earth 13410.

Shuri’s eyebrows shoot up. Her eyes widen in disbelief, then narrow, and she actually does growl this time. “Choose your next words very carefully,” she warns, left hand flexing at her side. “One swipe of my claws and I could slit your pretty throat for your insolence.”

Namor hums. A lewd grin tugs at his lips as his eyes flit to her mouth, then to the shimmering gold of the necklace resting against her collarbones. “I am well aware.”

She shoves past him without another word, skin prickling, heart racing, fingers twitching with the urge to wrap around his neck and squeeze.
