Two people in Japan listen to a radio broadcast from the Central Broadcasting Station of Osaka through a small set held by the woman. The exact date of the autochrome is unknown but is thought to be from the late 1920s or early 1930s.
I found this on the National Geographic website while looking for new desktop pictures and I just love the heart pattern on the woman's haori. Those are the real colours of her outfit, as nearly as the autochrome process could capture them. It's always fun when you find an old picture with something that at first looks strikingly modern and realise there were a lot of styles in the past that you just didn't know about.
