“Instinct is all it is, really. It always points you to what someone wants, Shuri,” and more so than the first use of her name, she’s thrown by the way that he looks at her, like he just knows.  How could he possibly know? “You don’t know what I want,” she protests, but the words ring hollow, spoken more to convince herself than him. It’s a bare-faced lie too, she realizes, even though the dizzying proximity of his frame in front of hers has her weak in her knees. Tells her she knows exactly what she wants. What she’s wanted for a long time, really. “ Don’t I ?” he murmurs, and he’s closer now, much closer, when did she let him get so close, anyways?

This is a scene from the very first nashuri fanfic ever, written before BPWF even came out! It's a fanfic I adore and one I'm currently in the process of making a podfic for! So many thanks to @wakandawinterprincess for writing and sharing that amazing story with us!

Here's Chuck looking like an absolute fool and brushing Havok off. It's actually quite cruel.

Smug bastard. I wonder how many people think that X looks like a target. He looks like an Apple-brand pharaoh, but Mags is even worse.

I'm convinced this was Charles' idea, because this is the first time Mags has looked anything but fabulous in his entire life. Same white and gold colour scheme, but he somehow found a hat that looks worse than Party Cerebro. Normally cockblocking Havok is a move I'd support, but he and Chuck are being corrupt bastards here. Top hat with a gold band, an ill-fitting 3 piece suit, and an ugly cape. Embarrassing.

Here they are side by side being upstaged by a man who usually wears underwear and nothing else. Chumps.

I don't believe Jumbo Carnation was responsible for these abominations, but clearly some planning has gone into it as they match. It's gotta be Chuck. We know Mags changes into better clothing by the time he meets with Wanda, so at least he knows it.

He did just successfully spearhead the terraforming of Mars. Much better outfit for celebrating yourself in. I'm surprised they didn't wait until *after* The Hellfire Gala to proposition Namor. Sure, it's been a good first year for Krakoa, but they know Namor's mindset well and he's not going to be impressed by what they've achieved.

Terraforming Mars, on the other hand, is so impressive that not even Namor could turn his nose up. Maybe they didn't actually want him on the council because he's a very difficult person to get along with. That hasn't stopped them before, and Namor does have a lot of experience ruling. If so, they're probably just stroking his ego to keep him as an ally.

Atlantis did fall not very long after this so it's a little surprising he'd join the Avengers (who don't like him, to put it lightly) instead of joining his former allies who've gone intergalactic and have the ability to restore his kingdom. I miss The Submariner under the purview of the X-Office. He has more history with the FF and Avengers but I think he's more interesting when in the X-Men's orbit.

DC and Marvel both love Atlantis. And their interpretations of Atlantis are usually pretty similar, but I see some differences. I still want to compare it to the Greek and Roman stuff Rick Riordan writes about. DC's Atlantis feels more Grecian, I guess. Aquaman's Orange Chainmail or whatever reminds me of Camp Half-Blood. And Namor is Roman backwards, and he just screams the regal and imperious attitude of characters like Octavian at Camp Jupiter.

But there's so much more than that. DC and Marvel both delve into the prehistoric culture of Atlantis. Paul Kupperberg created Arion, the ancient sorcerer from DC's Atlantis. But Marvel's Atlantis has Kull the Conqueror and figures like the sorceress Zhered-Na (who died for predicting atlantis's fall, and then led a cult onto the mainland). Roy Thomas and Steve Gerber really fleshed out Marvel's Atlantis. So we have different writers, and different backstories, but it all goes back to sword and sorcery style mythos.

So this is why I really think we just need to have a reveal that DC and Marvel's two seperate versions Atlantis were seperated by the gods ages ago, perhaps during the time of Kull and Arion. The gods knew there would be fighting between their children, should they ever meet, and so they hid them from each other. I mean, come on! It makes so much sense! Rick Riordan's ideas and concepts just work perfectly in this setting! Why do I feel like I'm the only one who's noticed this!?

The King of Atlantis currently had her slung over his shoulder, his arm wrapped firmly around her legs. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't break free. Shuri struggled harder, beating her fists against his back. It was like hitting a vibranium wall. Nothing but pure muscle, rendering her attacks useless and painful.

She didn't need to see his insufferable face to know he was smirking at her pitiful attempts.

He was carrying her through the forest, no doubt heading towards the ocean. Once he reached the water, he would be near invincible and there truly would be no escaping him.

When The Wakandan Elders try to pressure Shuri into an arranged marriage, she runs away. She isn't happy with who finds her. Comic Book Namor x Shuri.

Did you know Namor can turn people into Atlanteans? He has the technology for this. Now of course he tried to weaponize it and the superheroes stopped him but that was the wrong approach anyway.

He should be selling this in coastal areas. As global warming gets worse and sea levels rise and living above the waterline becomes more and more untenable every day, the prospect of becoming a mermaid and living under a king who cares about his people is going to make people on the coastline salivite. All he needs to do is offer it as an opportunity. Sell your belongings , give the kingdom the proceceedes and ditch the surface world. Come and experience Atlantis .

And of course the surface worlders will give him flack. "Oh Namor, why are you exploiting global warming?"

"Because every time I try to fight it everyone has a problem with it. Fine, you want to expand my kingdom? Then I'm recruiting subjects." Then he pushes a button and the song "under the sea" starts playing from his commercial.
