A crash very rudely wakes you up, sharing the same level of poise as a cartoon cat while your heart very nearly bursts out of your chest, you jolt up from the cushions. Trying to catch your breath, you scramble on the couch and peer over the back of it, looking to the ground to find your boyfriend with a desolate look on his face, “What are you doing?”

Your eyes wander to his knee, secured with a complicated black brace, which he was supposed to be staying off of for the next week so that it could properly heal. “Lying on the floor,” he answers, staring blankly at the ceiling as he does.

Raising your eyebrows, you start to untangle yourself from the crocheted blanket you fell asleep with, “Why?”

Spencer sighs from his spot on the floor, “Felt like it,” he mumbles, bringing his arms up to cover his face.

“Did you fall?” You ask, getting off of the couch and crouching down next to him, noticing the way one of his crutches was twisted in the tassels of your area rug. Quietly, you pick both of his crutches off of the floor, resting them against the arm of the couch before reaching out and gently shaking his shoulder. “Do you wanna get up?”

All you receive in response is a groan, so you sit fully on the floor, maneuvering your hand around his arms so that you can smooth his hair back. “I want to walk,” Spencer complains, putting his arms down to his sides.

You frown at him, your ministrations on his head faltering, “Well, I can help you walk back to bed.” He insisted he was fine when you left him to go lay down on the couch, but obviously he had decided he needed something else.

“I want to walk alone,” he corrects himself, finally glancing over at you.

The tears in his eyes are enough to break through your cheery demeanor, “Oh, Spence.” You pout at him sympathetically, reaching out your arms to help pull him to a sitting position. “I’m sorry, baby,” you whisper, cupping his cheek in your hand.

He simply held no familiarity with being taken care of. Spencer was an independent being first. Once a caretaker, always a caretaker, but now, the roles were reversed, he simply couldn’t get around without your help. “I just wanted to do something on my own,” he admits mournfully, “I can’t even get a book without…” his voice trails off, “Did I wake you up?”

You shake your head quickly, “No.” The lie easily slides off of your tongue, saving him from the guilt of waking you up. Honestly, it was time for you to make your way to bed anyway. “Ready?” You ask him, eyeing him cautiously as he leans to the side in order to put all of his weight on his good leg.

Taking both of his hands in yours, you pull him gently to a standing position, helping him hobble over to the couch so he can lean on the back of it for support. “Thank you,” he mumbles bashfully, ducking his head so that his hair covers his face.

“Do you want some tea before bed?” You ask, skimming your palm up and down his upper arm. You had scoped out a tea that was used in herbal medicine, ordering a bunch of it off of a sketchy website to help Spencer try and manage his pain.

He foregoes a response, shaking his head, “I can make it.”

You smile softly at him, “I’ll make it, Spence. I know you don’t like it, but I really need you to rest.” You squeeze his upper arm comfortingly, “You got shot a week ago, please let me take care of you.”

He looks up at you, “I don’t want you to have to take care of me.”

“Fine,” you acquiesce, “but you owe me.”

Spencer raises his eyebrows in confusion, “I owe you? What do I owe you for?”

Crossing your arms in front of your chest, you tilt your head back slightly, “Letting me take care of you is the ‘My co-worker had to call my girlfriend on a seemingly random Tuesday afternoon to tell me I had been shot in the line of duty’ tax,” you inform him dutifully.

“Okay, yes, Garcia could have worded that phone call better,” he cedes, flicking some of his hair over his shoulder.

Looking at him in disbelief, you cock an eyebrow at him, “Yeah, it’s right on up there with the anthrax poisoning phone call. You’re already on thin ice with me,” you warn him, mostly meaning it in jest.

Each of these phone calls had sent you into such a tailspin that the BAU had to send someone to get you, and they weren’t experiences you were likely to forget. ���I’m sorry,” he whispers, studying your expression with sad brown eyes.

“Don’t be sorry,” you instruct him, “Just let me take care of you! You take care of me all the time—it’s only fair.”

He chuckles lightly at your comment on fairness, the sound enough to make the butterflies in your stomach flutter, “Okay,” he says, “Okay.”

Ducking your head and having him loop his arm around your neck, you beam up at him, “See how much easier things are when you agree with me?”

He lets out a breathy laugh, using you and the wall as support as the two of you make your way back to the bedroom, getting him down on the mattress with practiced dexterity. “I’m certainly seeing the benefits,” he says, smiling up at you as you sweep his hair behind his ears.

Leaning down, you press a tender kiss on his forehead before stepping away, “I’ll go turn on the kettle. What book were you trying to get? I can grab it and maybe you can read me to sleep tonight.”

“You want me to read you to sleep in Russian?” He asks after rattling off the title to you, a smile on his face even though you can’t see it.

You laugh from your spot in the kitchen, “God, yes. I can’t think of anything better.”

[Although you rarely see the triple crochet stitch] It's also incredibly wise to learn how to chain, make a slipknot and how to make a magic circle/ring/whatever else it could possibly be called. Magic circles are MAINLY used when making amigurumi [Which is basically the art of making little creatures using crochet]. Chaining/Making slipknots are for other projects. [I'm unsure what the primary one is for making clothing since I've only ever made like- Hats/scarves] Also for any beginner crocheters: Please for the love of god use STITCH MARKERS!!!!! Stitch markers will be your bestest of friends!!!!!

THESE LITTLE GUYS!!!! THESE ONES!!!!! It's v frustrating when you lose your place and have to basically redo your ENTIRE project bc you don't exactly remember where you messed up. You should ALSO make sure you're using the right hook size[s] for your yarn as well. There's multiple ways you can figure out which hook size is right for what yarn size!

Also another thing is that nothing's final in crochet. You can take it apart over and over again until you get your desired result!!!!! So don't feel like you NEED to finish a project if you're dissatisfied with it. Work it up Undo it Try again It's all about patience and practice!!!! And you can make a whole shit ton of things with crochet too. - Clothing - Toys - Accessories - Blankets - Pillow cases Hell I've made fucking- Doilies and shit with crochet. There's USUALLY a pattern for everything [Although most of them are unfortunately behind paywalls </3]. You can look up either written patterns or video tutorials! I picked up crochet after my grandma died from cancer bc she enjoyed it a lot when she was alive. My whole motivation to even do crochet is to become skilled enough to make something in her honor. So it's become something like- Super fond of and really proud of for picking up and slowly getting the hang of!!!! And I'm more than happy to talk about it if anyone's ever interested! Hello, anon! (Sorry for taking my time with answering, I had a lot of thoughts)

Such a lovely question! I do indeed have many headcanons about AruAni and other characters I enjoy. I've shared some modern hcs about Armin and Annie specifically here too, if you wanna check them out.

Since you're giving me the opportunity to share some more though, let's do post-canon hcs instead. I think it'd be a nice change.

Armin cooks, Annie eats.

I know Armin is a busy man, but I'm positive he likes to take a break from his packed schedule to make a treat for his girl. Sure, he's not the best cook ever, but he tries and every dish is created with care and love poured into it. Annie enjoys the attention (and the cooking) quite a lot, too, so it's not like she's planning to stop him any time soon.

Armin's curiosity reaches unprecedented highs.

With the whole world at his disposal (well, what's left of it), Armin is finally free to go wild. He wants to learn it all and learn it all NOW! At first he turns to Annie for trivia regarding the outside world, and it's a sweet moment of bonding for them, sharing information about the world as they get to know more and more of each other as well. Soon, however, Annie is no longer enough. She's a surprisingly patient teacher, but she simply can't keep up with the level of detail Armin wants to go into, and frankly she doesn't care enough. So she urges him to find another tutor.

And Armin doesn't find one. He finds fifty.

Turns out, no one is an expert in everything, and Armin wants to know E V E R Y T H I N G. From exotic animals to foreign policy, to current tech, to theology, he's curious about it all!

Of course, a sane person cannot retain this much information, so what ends up happening is Armin going from one hyper specific interest to the next at an alarming rate. Jean and Connie worry about him initially (surely their friend is finally losing it), but when they eventually confront him about it, he confirms that he just enjoys the ride more so than the actual knowledge. "Most people have learnt bits and pieces while they were growing up," he says, "I have a lot to catch up to, but I'm not beating myself up about remembering it all." Jean and Connie are appeased. As long as he takes care of himself and he's happy, there's nothing else to fret over.

Annie takes up a sport.

Listen, martial arts are well and good, but there's only so much effort you can put in them when you're not in active danger. Annie maintains her training regimen for a while, but without a purpose it turns stale and repetitive. Still, she enjoys the physical activity and the challenge, so she's pretty bummed about it, until someone (probably Pieck) suggests she start playing a sport.

I'm not sure what exactly would fit her best. A solitary sport is more in line with her personality, but perhaps a team sport would help her build relationships and come out of her shell a little. I kinda want to say badminton, but I might be thinking that because I'm partial to it myself.

Mikasa is living her best cottagecore life.

After her return to Paradis, Mikasa would be in mourning, so I think that in order to heal mentally she'd choose to live somewhere relatively secluded. In my opinion, a cottage much like the one she shared with Eren in the paths and the one she lived in with her parents would be preferable to her than living in a city, where everyone would demand her attention.

During her time living alone, she takes up every hands-on hobby imaginable: fishing, hunting, crocheting, knitting, foraging, cooking, making preserves, making yarn (and yes she has sheep in this scenario), chopping wood, whittling etc. She goes to the town every week to sell her creations and buy what she can't make and everyone is in awe of her talent and dedication. It's a great way to keep her mind from drifting to a dark place and, as an added benefit, it's quite the conversation starter, so she ends up forming bonds with her neighbors as well.

Spencer had met y/n at his local library seven months ago. He noticed you helping kids get the books they were looking for, at first he didn’t care because you were just doing your job as a librarian. but then he started noticing how you would always help the kids with the words they couldn’t understand. he started noticing smaller things about you too, how you would always sit crocheting or knitting something at the counter, the way you would giggle quietly while reading something funny or cute in your books or how your lips pursed and your eyebrows furrowed when you read about the frustrating things the main characters would do. One day Spencer finally worked up the courage to talk to you, he was asking where a certain book on philosophy was. He knew exactly where to find it, of course he did! He had been going to this library for years, but he just had to talk to you. You had smiled and put down your project and walked him over to the philosophy section and carefully grabbed the book off its shelf before handing it to him. “If there’s ever anything else you need help with you know where to find me!” you had said cheerfully before walking back to the counter. After that he would find any excuse to talk to you. After he came back from long cases he would make sure to go to the library the very next day so he could see you. You would always greet him with a smile and say his name cheerfully, “Spencer! It’s been a while, I’m so glad you’re back!” Eventually after three months the short greetings would turn into long conversations about your respective days. He started feeling more comfterble around you and would ramble about the books he read. He was rambling about psycology one day, he interrupted himself and quickly apologized. “Why did you stop?” you asked, “oh, I thought you weren’t listening.” he said. You looked down at your project and then looked back up at him, “No! I just focus better on what you’re saying when I’m doing something with my hands.” you responded. “you’re not bothered or annoyed by my rambling?” he asked. “No, I love when you go off on your tangeants! It’s like everytime we talk I learn something new!” You said cheerfully. He blushed slightly then smiled before he continued his speech. Your interactions weren’t just listening to him talk though, you would often bring up random theories and facts about whatever book you were reading. Sometimes he would stay until closing hours and just talk to you, you would text while he was away on long cases. Eventually his coworkers started noticing how he would smile at his phone or how he would decline going out with them to go to the library.

“Hey Reid do you wanna go to the bar with us after work?” Morgan asked, “No I’m going to the library.” 

“Okay, what’s going on with him? He’s always been antisocial but this is the twelfth time he’s blown us off in the past seven months!” Emily said. “Maybe pretty boy has a girlfriend.” Garcia said while sipping her coffee. “What? No way” Morgan responded. “Think about it, he’s always running off to the ‘library’ whenever he can or smiling at his phone.” Garcia said. “The library thing could be a cover.” Emily responded. “Or he’s meeting someone there!” JJ said. “Only one way to find out.” Morgan said while grabbing his coat. “Well come on! Let’s follow pretty boy and see what he’s up to!”

The library, 19:30pm:

“I see him! He’s talking and laughing with some girl!” Garcia said. “SHH, we need to be quiet or he’ll know we’re here!” Emily said in a whisper scream. 

in the break room the next day:

“Well now we know what he’s been up to for the past seven months.” Emily said. “Why didn’t he tell us he had a girlfriend?” Morgan asked. “They might not be dating.” JJ said before taking a bite of her sandwich. “Oh come on did you see the way he looked at her! That was a look of love.” Morgan said. “Maybe he just hasn’t told her yet!” Garcia said. “What are you guys talking about?” Spencer questioned while entering the kitchen to make his third cup of coffee for the day.

ok yes I think abby loves to spoil her girl!!! I got another ask about this but on the flip side (abby spoiling her girl) just a couple hours after this one, my two nonnies (if ur not the same person) are in sync!!

ive realized a lot of my way of learning things is truly fuck arnd n find out bc i dont hv the patience to actually learn the foundation also my mind is always working n it's like if i have a specific idea for smth i want to do i will more likely do tht thing is tht idea is usually beyond my skill level n i just try to search what i need as i go along which isnt always possible or successful n then trying to get help even online from more advanced ppl sometimes come with them being irritated tht ur a beginner who hasnt even really learnt anything but wanna do complex things off the work of others like ahhh i need to sit and be patient n take it step by step i wld learn much more like when i did the sewing course I realized how much simple shit i cldve learnt on my own if i hadn't just futiely chased attempting to sew things i wanted atm. it was also my biggest set back with learning to crochet and why i stil can't code idk literally like once i learn two or three things my brain starts getting ideas™ n i hv to immediately try them n i can rarely find smth exact to teach me how to do what i want to do also bc i dont know the terminologu of the skill sigh i am truly my own biggest hindrance
