Mythical Lore | Morgan Le Fey
Morgan le Fey  [Source]
The Tale of Morgen Le Fey, the roots of Morgan Le Feys history are a cloudy mixture of Celtic mythology and legend,  She first appears in writing in the twelfth century but was likely based on much older figures from Celtic folklore and mythology.
Few witches in literacy history have been as influential - or as maligned - as Morgan le fey. She is seen as either the Healer/Ruler of the Mystical Island of Avalon.
OR the Arch Villainess of Arthurian legend, for more than nine hundred years Morgan popular perceptions of Witchcraft.
Tumblr media
Morgan Le Fey has been linked to some deities, such as Morrígan the ‘phantom Queen’ of Irish Myth associated with battle and prophecy.
The Mari-morgans of Breton folklore who, Siren-like, lure sailors to their doom.
The most direct influence is Modron, Etymologically linked to Dea Matrona, the divine mother goddess of ancient Gual. Modron was a divine figure in Welsh mythology connected to the court of King Arthur.
In these celtic stories, we can see glimmers of who Morgan Le Fay would become; an otherworldly figure, a voice of death and prophecy, a divine figure of creation and creativity.
Morgan Le Fey; In one account of many, Morgan of Vita is a renowned healer and scholar, one of nine ethereal sisters living on a mystical island of Avalon. The best of the nine, Morgan was known for her beauty, skill in mathematics and ability to shapeshift.
“...That art is known for her beauty. She he can change shape and cut the air on new wings in the manner of Dedalus. When she wishes she is in Brist, Carnot or Papie when she wishes, as she glides out of the air into your lands.”
Her magic is depicted as art comparable to the creative force of Dedalus, the great inventor of Greek Mythology.
What makes her essential is not only the fine art of magic but of healing, Morgan's knowledge and power are the only thing that can restore a mortally wounded Arthur to health, and her skills the best hope for the future of Britain.
______________________________________________________________
Tumblr media
Then begins a literacy descent from being a ruler of her own right to becoming the villain. [Image Source] As literary pieces paint her with suspicion of her magic.
Morgan studies healing, astronomy and magical arts then uses it to further her own terrible hatreds and jealousies. She grows entangled in an elaborate love triangle with Queen Guinivere and her adulterous lover lancelot. By trying to expose the affair
“Chastity-revealing horn.”
She goes as far as to create an otherworldly Shadow realm, ominously called the Valley of No Returns, that she traps Lancelot in three times.
Thus the transformation still associated with healing and Avalon, literature increasingly links her beauty and power with dangerous instability.
In vita she was described for her inner creativity goodness, transforms into a sign of sexuality run amok, authors depict her as licentious and prone to jealousies. Her power that was once the only hope for Arthur and the future of Britain, becomes a force of corruption and darkness.
She is shown as a central threat to Camelot and the world as she tried to kill Arthur and his knights through demonic Monster servants, deadly seductions and elaborate plots involving green knights.
She is also always entrusted with Arthur once he is mortally wounded and she takes him away by Boat to Avalon.
Morgan Le Fey is connected to the Fea in that she is someone who is able to understand that type of world and can be one with that type of magic, especially through celtic origins of fea.
And that is how they see her as one not unlike the fea, both kind and cruel how their morality and tokens change on a whim. How they can be both neutral or give help for a price. Or plain mischievous for no reason other than they want to. Uncontrollable and hard to understand and something they cant contain. Morgan Le Feys image has changed due to misogyny warping her image into a figure of evil, jealousy and cruelty and fickle in her actions when she decides to save Arthur or in this case save a man.

Lavellan Joining Solas in the Fade - the Least Risk for Thedas in the Long Run
Solas, as a former spirit, is a man who has to navigate emotions rather than embody them.
Solas: A spirit does not work through emotions. It embodies them. Varric: But he isn't a spirit, is he? He made himself human, and humans change.
His life seems to have been one of extremes. And spirits reflect so who he surrounds himself with matters - or lack thereof considering what isolation does to him.
Like all humans/mortals, Solas’ has to deal with emotions but as a former spirit who embodies and reflects, then the presence of someone who understands him (sees him) is important.
Simply put, he needs help processing his emotions. (Don't we all though?)
Logically, the best thing for Thedas in the long run is for Lavellan to be with Solas in the Fade. (Any high approval Inquisitor really - because they symbolize connection, friendship and some non-romanced Inquisitor players really cared for Solas.)
In the Atonement ending where Solas goes alone, he enters the Fade with a clear purpose and a healthier state of mind. This is good, yet Thedas is left to trust that his atonement will lead to lasting stability. Even with his resolve, Solas will still be alone in what he sees as a prison of regret. While he may have found some measure of peace upon entering, Thedas can only hope that years of isolation do not erode his convictions.
The Fade is fluid, shaped by thought, belief, and emotion. Left alone, Solas alone defines his reality – so what happens if, over time, his belief in himself wavers? If his purpose falters?
I believe Lavellan’s presence benefits both Solas and Thedas - she is a safeguard.
By being there, Lavellan acts as an anchor. Her presence prevents him from slipping too far in either direction, giving him someone to share the burden of his emotions - and hers as well. How many times do we feel better when we talk out our feelings with those we love?
Solas created the regret prison – that's how he sees it. But Lavellan changes its nature by refusing to see it as a prison at all. It’s why she tells him it won’t be terrible if they’re together. She reframes his exile, turning it from a sentence into something else - a path walked alongside someone.
She sees him as a man capable of change echoing what Varric says: "...and humans change."
If she refuses to see him purely as a monster, if she holds to the truth that he can remember his original purpose and find redemption through atonement - then the Fade prison will bend to that belief. Which means eventually, I believe they can find a way out of it. If spirits mirror what they encounter, then being in the Fade with Lavellan means Solas is continuously reflecting someone who loves him, who challenges him emotionally, who refuses to let him forget his humanity. Someone who sees him.
Lavellan was forced into the role of Herald, then Inquisitor - eventually accepting her path. She made decisions that shaped Thedas, choosing what was best for the world over personal preference or wants.  So how lovely, that a personal choice rooted in love now finally aligns with her role as a leader, continuing to protect Thedas.

Manticore
Manticores hunt similarly to Komodo Dragons; they sneak up to prey and stick their venomous quills into it. They then follow their prey until it succumbs to the venom's effects, and finishes it off by crushing the windpipe with their jaws, dragging it up a tree to eat in safety.
A little larger than a house cat, they have quills on their tail and base of the neck, and the oil follicles excrete venom that runs through small grooves on the quill. The venom is a depressant, and causes paralysis and hallucinations. It takes around an hour to take full effect. If you manage to get to safety or the manticore can't find you the venom will wear off in about a day. They are immune to their own venom, but distant subspecies of manticore may or may not be immune to each other's venom.
Manticores eat medium to small animals from deer and insects to foxes and skunks. They rarely attack animals that are likely to attack them or be defended by pack mates, as manticores aren't strong enough to defend themselves or fast enough to run away (their top speed is around 15mph, and they can't maintain that speed for long.) One of their favorite prey items is livestock because they are stuck in a small area, so they don't need to be tracked far. They are easily dissuaded by guard llamas.
Manticores are reverse countershaded and utilize dazzle camouflage to confuse and startle would-be attackers. (their "face" serves a similar function) Their threat display consists of standing sideways to the threat with their back arched up and head directly facing the threat. They sway slowly side to side and curl and lash their tail. They tilt their head side to side so the perspective illusion of their face is slightly noticeable. Their quills stand up and their mane poofs out and they make a sound that's a mix between dry heaving and rasping. They have a slight stink to them like the musk of a fox that intensifies when stressed.

🍬🌽Pumpkin Drake (candycorn morph)🌽🍬
Happy Halloween, goblinfam! Hope all of you are having a wonderful time 🎃🍂
Some lore:
With their long bodies, stubby legs, and more or less vestigial wings, Pumpkin Drakes are here to claim people's jack o' lanterns as their own!
Domestication and breeding has led to wonderful and curious-looking morphs in this species which are not observed in their wild counterparts. The candycorn morph is a fairly new colouration, but has proven to be extremely popular amongst younger magic users.
Pumpkin Drakes are a rambunctious species. Even in places where there are an abundance of pumpkins, they can often be seen in scuffles with others of their kind for what they consider to be the best pumpkin to nest in for the next few days. Pet Pumpkin Drakes can be housed in pumpkin-shaped receptacles, but it is recommended to give them access to a real pumpkin at least once a month.
When a pumpkin has been obtained, these small dragons will proceed to hollow it out, eating the flesh and seeds in the process (they are omnivores). With jack o' lanterns, the work of emptying out the pumpkin has already been done for them, so it's no wonder more and more wild Pumpkin Drakes have been seen in neighbourhoods during the Halloween season!
Wild Pumpkin Drakes are rarely phased by interaction (when treated with respect), so be sure to be on the look out for one (or more) on your porch, or wherever you have jack o' lanterns! 🎃🐉

Interviews with the Mythical
Human Reporter: What do you mean you invented Christmas?
Vampire: I mean just that, we invented the entire thing up.
Human Reporter: But we have documents, records of-
Vampire: All fabricated during the 3rd century as you call it.
Human Reporter: But why would you do that?
Vampire: Long term plan to subvert the day Christ was born.
Vampire: We gathered and felt that if we could slowly subvert the holiday with something less Christian we could dilute the faithful.
Vampire: Eventually we took a step back and you humans corporatized the holiday all by yourself to the point many associate it with our “Saint Nic” over that zombie boy Jesus.
Human Reporter: How would you say that has played out?
Vampire: I watched a woman throw a child like a football all to get the last Christmas day sale Toaster.
Vampire: It’s going swimmingly. ------------------------
Shape shifter: Oh yes I knew him.
Human Reporter: You knew Vincent Van Gogh?
Shape Shifter: This will be a short interview if you continue to question everything I say.
Human Reporter: I was just surprised since you look so young.
Shape Shifter: Such things as aging function differently for us.
Shape Shifter:  We appear old because we wish to feel the ravages of time.
Shaper Shifter: We appear young because we wish to bask in the depravities of youth.
Human Reporter: So are you immortal like vampires?
Shaper Shifter: *scoffs
Shape Shifter: I wish they would stop referring to themselves like that; the arrogant bastards.
Shaper Shifter: Vampires age slowly, but they age all the same; and I’ve yet to meet one that didn’t find a stake through the heart a grievous inconvenience.
Human Reporter: You are dodging the question.
Shape Shifter: Because I don’t have an answer.
Shape Shifter: The only way I imagine I can die is if I change into something dead, but I have no idea what that feels like so in the back of my mind there will always be a part of me alive meaning I am never really dead.
Human Reporter: Sounds like a maddening state.
Shape Shifter: Gogh said the same thing before he asked to paint me in my natural state.
Human Reporter: Really? What was it like being in one of his paintings?
Shape Shifter: Let’s just say he wasn’t always paranoid. ---------------------------
Human Reporter: So you take being a wolf seriously.
Werewolf: So?
Human Reporter: I mean, really seriously.
Werewolf: What kind of stupid question is that?
Werewolf: You take being human pretty seriously for being a human.
Human Reporter: But that’s just it, you are half wolf and half human; but your more animalistic side seems to take more precedent.
Werewolf: *Snarls
Human Reporter: I mean from what we do know you still form packs and groups with other werewolves even when in human form, you organize yourself like a pack being led by an alpha, etc.
Werewolf: I see what you’re getting at.
Werewolf: The animal tendencies are more…overpowering than human ones.
Human Reporter: Aren’t they the same?
Werewolf: No, they’re not.
Human Reporter: Could you elaborate?
Werewolf: Do you want to leave with your head?
Human Reporter: Yes.
Werewolf: Than this interview is over. ----------------
Human Reporter: Do you have a moment for an interview?
Sphinx: Only if you answer my riddle.
Sphinx: What walks on-
Human Reporter: The answer is man.
Sphinx: ……
Sphinx: I haven’t even finished.
Human Reporter: I mean…..it’s not exactly a secret riddle.
Sphinx: But how can you possibly know it?
Human Reporter: Oedipus recorded the answer after he solved it.
Sphinx: *Defeated sigh
Sphinx: I knew I should have just killed that little man.
Sphinx: What else did he write?
Human Reporter: That after he solved the riddle you were so distraught you flung yourself into the sea to commit suicide.
Sphinx: That lying sack of shit! --------------------
Human Reporter: So does your pumpkin rot and you need to collect new ones or is it just eternally ripe?
Headless Horseman: Through the pumpkin That is what you are opening with?
Human Reporter: Well I just wonder how that thing could be still fresh after almost 300 years.
Headless Horseman: *Tilts neck down to show severed neck muscles and spine
Headless Horseman: None of this is freaking you out?
Human Reporter: If I’m being truthful I did interview a zombie before meeting you and they also were missing a substantial amount of flesh.
Headless Horseman: Did you just fucking compare me to a zombie!?!
Human Report: You technically are undead in a sense.
Headless Horseman: They made a bloody movie about me! It had Johnny Depp and I was played by Christopher Walken!
Headless Horseman: They made a tv show about me!
Human Reporter: With respect they’ve made more shows about zombies.
Headless Horseman: *Storms off and kicks over a stack of boxes while swearing in german ----------------
Human Reporter: Thank you for your time.
Leprechaun:  Pay my fee, lest I shall flee.
Human Reporter: *Reaches into pocket and tosses three gold coins.
Leprechaun: *Catches coins, takes a bite on each, then pockets them.
Human Reporter: You’re the only creature I’ve met that’s actually charged for an interview.
Leprechaun: Fools and half-wits waste fortunes with words said free, but I’m neither lest I’m paid handsomely.
Human Reporter:  Bit of a rhyming theme going on I see; very poetic.
Leprechaun: Words and songs are my crafts by trade, but none still finer than my cobbler days.
Human Reporter: What makes Leprechaun gold more special than normal gold?
Leprechaun: A simple question gets a simple answer.
Leprechaun: No gold is finer than the ones I gather.
Leprechaun: Through trade and trick I make my wealth, and by deceit and death I keep it still.
Human Reporter: You’re saying you’ve had to kill to protect your gold?
Leprechaun: The penance is clear, there’s no debate.
Leprechaun: You take my gold, I take your life. ------------
Human Reporter: What is it like to be the neck tie for a god?
Nag Vasuki: You would mock an immortal being?
Human Reporter: Do you not coil yourself around the neck of the literal god of destruction?
Nag Vasuki: I do.
Human Report: Then that makes you a neck tie.
Nag Vasuki: *Lunges across table and bites reporter in the neck, delivering a lethal amount of poison before storming off to get a bagel. ---------------
Human Reporter: Why do you eat children?
Baba Yaga: Why does a raging river drown those lost within its grasp?
Human Reporter: Because a river is part of nature.
Baba Yaga: As am I.
Baba Yaga: There is nothing more unforgiving and unrelenting than that of nature, and in their youthful bliss many young find themselves lost within its tangled woods of thorn and wood.
Baba Yaga: I, like nature, stand at the gates of great change that children must face; be it for great joy or misery.
Human Reporter: Are you saying you eat children because they refused to adapt?
Baba Yaga: *chuckles
Baba Yaga: Only the unlucky ones. -------------------
Human Reporter: in hazmat suit Thank you for the interview.
Nuckelavee: Through the hanging mouth of a horse and its rider man Save your false gratitude.
Nuckelavee: I seek neither your accolades nor your ponderous questioning.
Human Reporter: Then why did you come at all?
Nuckelavee: For all of humanity to know that their end will soon be at hand, and it will be by my machinations shall you fall.
Human Reporter: Forgive me but you remind me of the four horseman.
Nuckelavee:  *laughs
Nuckelavee:  Ah yes, the fear of the southerners was so rich when they first laid eyes on me.
Nuckelavee: They had come to preach the word of their god, so it was only fitting I made them scream out to their savior as I peeled the flesh from their bones. The look of abandonment they gave was so amusing I allowed the last of them passage back to their stone temples.
Nuckelavee: So wrought with horror they were that when they scampered back their minds could not conceive such malevolence as a singular being.
Human Reporter: So you are claiming to be the inspiration for the four horsemen?
Nuckelavee: There can be no other.
Human Reporter: If that was the case are you not upset you were depicted as such?
Nuckelavee: In the end I shall feast on you all; what mind have I to care for such trivialities?

This is my depiction of RÉRIR, also known as the Rächer of Solnari—one of the Five Sinners of Khaenri’ah mentioned in the Archon Quest "Bedtime Story."
The name Rérir comes from Germanic myth, where he is known as a mighty ruler who avenges his murdered father and becomes the ancestor of the legendary Völsung bloodline—a clan of tragic heroes and cursed legacies.
His title, "Rächer of Solnari," may translate to Avenger of the Sun-Corpse—a poetic nod to:
Sól (the Norse sun goddess)
Narfi, son of Loki, who may symbolize death or decay.
Symbolism in the Art:
Sword Upright: Rérir holds his blade like a gravestone—a symbol of justice turned to penance. The sword is massive, sacred, and unmoving, as though weighing the sins of an entire kingdom.
Facing Left (Past): He gazes back—not to fight fate like Surtalogi—but to mourn what was lost. The leftward gaze invokes remembrance, regret, and the passage of time.
Freckled, Scarred Face: A weathered man whose beauty lies in grief and survival. Every line tells of battles fought, oaths broken, and hopes extinguished.
Sunlike Halo + Sword Lightburst: “Solnari” may mean sun-corpse—and so Rérir is framed in dying light.
Armor Grid Motif: Like Surtalogi, his armor is patterned with structured alchemical geometry, marking him as a product of Khaenri’ah’s elite warriors.
