i just have feelings about how gales good ending is becoming mystras chosen again and gaining her forgiveness and she just. gets away with putting him through hell for a year+ with his isolation and trying to figure out how to feed the orb and then consuming artefact after artefact all the while she could have stopped it at any point but she was too mad at him to even tell him the truth of it all. she just gets everything she wants in the end

hello Anon, thanks for the question, and, my idea of grooming on Gale's relationship with Mystra is kinda complicated, ear me out:

first thing first, Gale was a prodigy even as a young boy, and we understand that as a magician (similar to all the people who follow a religion) he worshipped Mystra, and she was always a presence in his life.

people will say that just because he was an adult, the grooming part doesn't count, but this is wrong.

Grooming someone mean that we have power over him, influence, and we have a big part on the shaping of the mind of the person, and Mystra did all those things (remember Gale have a deep bond with the weave than others), maybe not necessarily over present when Gale was a child, but more than there when he became her lover.

the power dynamic in their relationship was deeply unbalanced, she had all the power, while he was literally at her hands and feet to worship her.

Gale had so much stress, feeling never enough , and we see that if we try to romance him, he is trying so much to impress TAV/DURGE, because he believe he need to do more(after all, romancing a litteral god...lot of stress).

because is feeling of not enough that he will absorb the globe and Mystra will chase him away like nothing, and don't let me start when she ask him(not really her, she send someone else to tell him, like sending a sms, what a bitch, do it yourself coward) to kill himself like he meant nothing.

this is shadow grooming and nothing will convince me differently.

I’m so fascinated by the writers’ choice to make Gale so obviously not-over-Mystra (still calling her “my beloved”, conjuring her image to stare at) and then pretty much immediately infatuated with the player character to the point of telling them he’s forgotten his goddess.

When Gale falls in love, he falls hard.

Just some smutty bloodweave angst that was rotting in my brain below the cut, I have no excuses

“Please, don’t be cruel,” Gale exhales with a ragged sigh as the vampire takes his hand away from his twitching length. Gale was seconds away from the point of no return, left to dangle on the edge of his release for the third time that night.

Astarion caresses his face with fingers that reek of Gale’s needy hole he had been teasing, the filthy gesture making Gale whimper with need.

“Then give yourself to me,” Astarion murmurs against his lips, pulling away when Gale tries to hinge forward and properly kiss him. “Submit, and I will allow you the pleasure you seek.”

He’s heard this before, or something like it. Gale opens his mouth to his reply, yet he finds that no sound is able to be made.

“And if you please me? If you’re a good boy for me?” Astarion’s voice cracks as his grip tightens around Gale’s jaw. “I’ll give you more than just pleasure. I’ll cherish you, indulge your every desire to its fullest. Say it. Say you’ll be mine.”

Gale’s throat goes dry at Astarion’s promise, his touch and his words eerily similar to those of his goddess before she took from him that first time, claimed him for her own. The similarities positively unnerve him, feeling a creep of shame rise with the bile in his throat that he’s back at the same place he started, so many years ago.

And yet? He finds the words sweeter, more enticing falling from the vampire’s lips. It strikes him then he is caught inside the fire again, falling for Astarion at a pace that frightens him. He’s more than willing and eager to extinguish the flames of passion that consume him. All it will take is casting himself into Astarion’s sea of debauchery and drowning in it.

Gale swallows thickly, letting the unthinkable words slip past his lips before he has a moment to doubt them.

“I’m…yours.”

I'm sorry, but running into Elminster again post act 2 and getting what's basically the confirmation that Mystra is omniscient (already assumed on my part) and knowing what happens if Gale detonates at the end of act 2, aka the Mindflayer 'zombie' Apocalypse, is a trip when the "Mystra is the goodest bestest ever Goddess." Fandom exists.
