i just have feelings about how gales good ending is becoming mystras chosen again and gaining her forgiveness and she just. gets away with putting him through hell for a year+ with his isolation and trying to figure out how to feed the orb and then consuming artefact after artefact all the while she could have stopped it at any point but she was too mad at him to even tell him the truth of it all. she just gets everything she wants in the end

hello Anon, thanks for the question, and, my idea of grooming on Gale's relationship with Mystra is kinda complicated, ear me out:

first thing first, Gale was a prodigy even as a young boy, and we understand that as a magician (similar to all the people who follow a religion) he worshipped Mystra, and she was always a presence in his life.

people will say that just because he was an adult, the grooming part doesn't count, but this is wrong.

Grooming someone mean that we have power over him, influence, and we have a big part on the shaping of the mind of the person, and Mystra did all those things (remember Gale have a deep bond with the weave than others), maybe not necessarily over present when Gale was a child, but more than there when he became her lover.

the power dynamic in their relationship was deeply unbalanced, she had all the power, while he was literally at her hands and feet to worship her.

Gale had so much stress, feeling never enough , and we see that if we try to romance him, he is trying so much to impress TAV/DURGE, because he believe he need to do more(after all, romancing a litteral god...lot of stress).

because is feeling of not enough that he will absorb the globe and Mystra will chase him away like nothing, and don't let me start when she ask him(not really her, she send someone else to tell him, like sending a sms, what a bitch, do it yourself coward) to kill himself like he meant nothing.

this is shadow grooming and nothing will convince me differently.

I’m so fascinated by the writers’ choice to make Gale so obviously not-over-Mystra (still calling her “my beloved”, conjuring her image to stare at) and then pretty much immediately infatuated with the player character to the point of telling them he’s forgotten his goddess.

When Gale falls in love, he falls hard.

I'm sorry, but running into Elminster again post act 2 and getting what's basically the confirmation that Mystra is omniscient (already assumed on my part) and knowing what happens if Gale detonates at the end of act 2, aka the Mindflayer 'zombie' Apocalypse, is a trip when the "Mystra is the goodest bestest ever Goddess." Fandom exists.

So she serves a god of martyrdom and compassion, and many clerics of this God unknown for doing things like giving up their last meals to feed the hungry, taking the clothes off the back to close the needy, giving away their last time in order to provide it to those who have no money-

He found instead a woman who is beyond practical who looks every moment straight in the eye and who serves a higher type of compassion then the basic easy types that you would find from those who do not look too closely at others.
