"The Unlikely Alliance: A Future Fantasy"
In the enchanting heart of the forest, where ancient trees whispered secrets to the wind, two groups of beings clashed over the fate of their world. The Forest Guardians, who protected the life within the trees, and the Mountain Watchers, who kept an eye on the secrets hidden in the peaks, were at odds with one another. "The time has come," said the wise old Owl, a member of the Forest Guardians. "We must decide whether to seal ourselves off from the rest of the world or risk exposure and potential destruction." "We can't hide any longer," replied Aria, a courageous member of the Mountain Watchers. "The time has come for us to unite and protect our home together." As the two groups debated their options, the air grew heavy with tension. The decision weighed heavily on their hearts, knowing that it could change the course of history forever. In the end, a selfless member of the Forest Guardians made a crucial decision that would change the fate of their world. "I will sacrifice myself," said the Owl, its eyes filled with determination. "By doing so, I can create a barrier between our realms, protecting both from potential harm." With a heavy heart, the groups begrudgingly agreed. The Owl's sacrifice united them, and in time, they began to work together for the greater good of their world. The line that would serve as the starting point for the story is not provided in the given prompt, so we will begin with crafting an opening line. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow on the enchanted forest, where two groups of beings had been locked in a conflict for centuries. The Forest Guardians, ancient protectors of nature, and the Mountain Mages, masters of elemental magic, both sought control over the mystical realms that connected their world. "Things must change," whispered the wise old Owl, the leader of the Forest Guardians. "We cannot let our differences destroy everything we hold dear." The Mountain Mage named Ember crossed her arms and glared at the owl. "Change comes with sacrifice, and that's something the Guardians never understand." "But we must find a way to unite our realms," pleaded the Owl, its eyes filled with determination. "Otherwise, chaos will reign." As the two groups continued to argue, the owl considered its options. It knew that it had to make a decision, one that would have serious consequences for both sides. The fate of their world rested on the Owl's shoulders, and it was time to make a choice. In a surprising turn of events, the Owl announced, "I will sacrifice myself to create a barrier between our realms, giving us all a chance to find peace." The Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages stood in awe as the Owl's body began to glow, the light spreading across the landscape. The barrier formed, separating the two groups while joining their hearts together in unity. As the Owl's light faded, its sacrifice echoed through both realms, paving the way for future generations to live in harmony and work together for the greater good. In the heart of the enchanted forest, the wise old Owl gathered its fellow Forest Guardians. "Our world has been divided for far too long," it said, its voice echoing through the trees. "The time has come for us to unite and put an end to this senseless conflict." In response, a member of the Mountain Mages chimed in, "How can we trust you? For centuries, your kind has sought to control and dominate our realm." The Owl replied, "We have made mistakes, but now is the time for change. Together, we can create a new world where all beings live in harmony." As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden light upon the mystical mountains, a decision was made. The Owl, understanding the gravity of its role, would make the ultimate sacrifice to bring peace between the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages. In a final act of courage, it transformed into a magnificent barrier that protected both realms from any further conflict. With the Owl's selfless sacrifice, the enchanted forests and mystical mountains now stand as symbols of unity and harmony, a testament to the power of sacrifice for the greater good. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an ethereal glow over the enchanted forest and mystical mountains, the two groups stood at opposite ends of their world's mystical realms. The Forest Guardians, led by the wise old Owl, watched warily as the Mountain Mages prepared for battle. Tension hung in the air like a thick fog, making every leaf shudder and every stone tremble. A hushed whisper swept through the trees as the Owl spoke, "My fellow Guardians, we stand at a crossroads. We must decide whether to continue fighting or seek a peaceful resolution." The Forest Guardians murmured their agreement, but the Mountain Mages scoffed, believing they had already won. The Mountain Mage leader, a proud and imposing figure, declared, "We have been locked in this centuries-long conflict for far too long. It is time to claim our rightful place as rulers of these mystical realms." As he finished speaking, a gust of wind blew through the trees, carrying with it the scent of impending doom. The Owl, sensing the weight of the decision and the gravity of the consequences, closed its eyes and took a deep breath. "I have made my choice," it said, its voice as strong and clear as ever despite the uncertainty that raced through its feathers. "For the greater good, I shall sacrifice myself to create a barrier between our realms, uniting us for the benefit of our world." As the Owl's words echoed across the landscape, an air of reverence settled over both groups. They knew they had witnessed a moment that would change their world forever. The Owl's sacrifice ignited a spark of unity, and slowly, the two groups began to work together for the betterment of their shared realm. Once upon a time in the mystical world of Elenaria, two powerful groups lived harmoniously side by side - the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages. For centuries, they coexisted within their respective realms, each group tending to their own lands and maintaining balance in the world. The enchanted forest was a lush paradise filled with vibrant colors, while the mystical mountains were home to ancient secrets and powerful magic. One day, a rift between the two groups began to widen as tensions grew. Fear and mistrust took root, causing both parties to suspect the other's intentions. As conflict brewed, the once peaceful realm was plunged into turmoil. The Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages found themselves on the brink of a devastating war that would forever change their world. In the heart of the enchanted forest stood a wise, ancient Owl who had guided the Guardians for generations. This wise Owl understood the consequences of the growing conflict and knew that only unity could save their world from destruction. With a heavy heart, the Owl made a fateful decision - it would sacrifice itself to create a barrier between the realms of the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages. "We must put an end to this senseless conflict," the Owl declared, its voice echoing through the forest. "Our unity is our strength, not our weakness." As the Owl's powerful magic enveloped the forest and mountains in a protective barrier, both groups watched in awe as their foes were separated from them. The barrier served as a testament to the Owl's wisdom and sacrifice, and the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages soon realized that they had been manipulated by outside forces. Together, they sought out those responsible for the conflict and brought them to justice. The enchanted forest and mystical mountains once again became beacons of harmony and unity, as the two groups worked together to rebuild their shared realm. And so, the world of Elenaria thrived under the watchful eyes of the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages, united by the sacrifice of the wise Owl. They never forgot the lesson learned, that strength came from unity and not from division. In the heart of an enchanted forest, a fierce conflict raged for centuries between the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages. The two groups, bound by duty and loyalty, were determined to protect their realms from one another. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape, the tension in the air was palpable. The leader of the Forest Guardians, a wise old Owl, knew that a decision had to be made to end the strife and ensure the survival of both realms. With a heavy heart, he decided to sacrifice himself to create an unbreakable barrier between their territories. As he prepared to make his final stand, a member of the Mountain Mages approached him with a plea for peace. "Please, Owl," begged the Mage, "we do not wish for this conflict to continue. We are willing to work together and find unity." The Owl, understanding the gravity of the situation, replied, "It is too late for us to turn back now. But I can see in your eyes that you genuinely seek harmony. Let my sacrifice serve as a reminder of the consequences of division." As the Owl made his sacrifice, a brilliant flash of light illuminated the sky, and the barrier appeared between the two realms. The Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages stared in awe at the sight, realizing that their conflict had come to an end. United by the Owl's sacrifice, they began working together for the betterment of their shared world. Once upon a time, in an enchanted forest and mystical mountains, there existed two powerful groups - the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages. For centuries, they had been locked in a bitter conflict, each group vying for supremacy over their respective realms. The Forest Guardians, led by the wise old Owl, defended the enchanted forest with all their might, while the Mountain Mages, governed by the stern and unyielding Crystal Dragon, protected their mystical peaks. One fateful day, a mysterious force began to threaten both realms, causing chaos and destruction. The Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages realized that they had to put aside their differences to combat this common enemy. A crucial decision was made - one group would sacrifice themselves to create a barrier between their realms, thus protecting them from the impending doom. The wise old Owl, understanding the gravity of the situation, offered itself as the sacrificial lamb. It knew that its demise would bring about unity and save both worlds. The Crystal Dragon, reluctant at first, eventually agreed, realizing the importance of this decision for the greater good. As the sun set on the horizon, the Owl's sacrifice created a shimmering barrier between the enchanted forest and mystical mountains, sealing off the threat from both realms. In the aftermath, unity ignited among the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages. They began to work together for the betterment of their shared realm, forging strong alliances and bonds that would last for generations to come. The Owl's sacrifice was remembered as a testament to the power of unity and selflessness in the face of adversity. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the enchanted forest in a warm, golden glow, the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages gathered for a rare meeting. The air crackled with tension as they stood together, their differences momentarily forgotten due to the impending doom threatening both realms. "We must make a choice," the wise old Owl spoke in a voice that echoed through the forest. "Our world is at stake, and we cannot afford to let our differences stand in the way of survival." The Crystal Dragon, its scales shimmering in the twilight, nodded in agreement. "We have fought for centuries, but now is not the time for conflict. We must put aside our differences and work together." A hush fell over the assembly as they contemplated their options. Finally, a young Forest Guardian raised her hand. "I have an idea," she whispered, her voice barely audible amidst the rustling leaves. "What is it?" asked the Owl, his eyes filled with hope. "We can sacrifice one group to protect the other," she suggested, her voice growing stronger. "It would be a great loss, but it could save our world." The assembly gasped in shock, their eyes darting between one another as they weighed the cost of such a decision. The Owl, however, remained resolute. "I will be that sacrifice," it declared, its voice filled with wisdom and selflessness. "It is my duty to protect this realm, and I am willing to make the ultimate sacrifice." As the sun dipped below the mystical mountains, a barrier of light began to form around the enchanted forest. The Owl stood at its center, its feathers shimmering with an otherworldly glow. With one final look back at the Mountain Mages, it stepped forward and into the barrier, sealing the enchanted forest from the impending doom. The Crystal Dragon watched in awe as the Owl disappeared within the barrier, its scales reflecting the golden hues of the setting sun. It knew that the sacrifice had saved both realms, and that unity would ignite among both groups, leading them to work together for the betterment of their shared realm. In the heart of an enchanted forest, the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages stood face to face, their centuries-long conflict finally coming to a head. The air crackled with tension as the wise old Owl, leader of the Guardians, and the stern Crystal Dragon, ruler of the Mages, prepared to make a decision that would change the course of history forever. "We must stand together," whispered the Owl, its eyes gleaming with determination. "Our very existence is at stake." "We will not be defeated so easily," growled the Crystal Dragon, fire flashing in its emerald eyes. "But if we are to unite, one group must sacrifice itself for the greater good." As the leaders of both factions pondered the consequences of their words, a mysterious force began to threaten both realms. The enchanted forest withered, and the mystical mountains trembled. Realizing the severity of the situation, the Owl stepped forward. "I will be the one to sacrifice," it declared, its voice echoing through the quiet. "I will create a barrier between our realms that will protect them from impending doom." With a heavy heart, the Crystal Dragon agreed, and the Owl cast a spell that formed an impenetrable shield around both the enchanted forest and the mystical mountains. As the barrier held strong against the mysterious force, the Guardians and Mages watched in awe, their conflict momentarily forgotten. In the aftermath of the Owl's sacrifice, unity ignited among both groups. They worked together to rebuild their damaged realms and forged a new alliance, vowing never to let their differences divide them again. The enchanted forest flourished once more, and the mystical mountains soared proudly, a testament to the power of unity and the enduring legacy of the brave Owl's sacrifice. In the mystical realm of Verdantar, an enchanted forest and majestic mountains coexisted in harmony, but beneath their beauty lay centuries-old tensions. The Forest Guardians, led by the wise old Owl, lived in harmony with nature, while the Mountain Mages, governed by the stern Crystal Dragon, harnessed the power of the elements. Despite their differences, they maintained a fragile peace, for a mysterious force threatened to consume both realms. One fateful day, the enigmatic entity's influence grew stronger, causing tremors in the mountains and strange phenomena in the forest. The Guardians and Mages, realizing that their survival depended on unity, convened a council to make a crucial decision. They agreed to sacrifice one group for the greater good, and a solemn agreement was reached. "We must do what is best for our realms," said the Owl, her voice filled with wisdom and resolve. "Let us choose wisely." The Crystal Dragon nodded, his eyes glinting with determination. "Our future depends on this choice. Let it be one that brings harmony to Verdantar." As the council weighed their options, a sudden, deafening roar echoed through the mountains. The ground shook violently, and a rift appeared between the realms. The Owl, sensing the gravity of the situation, stepped forward. "I will make the sacrifice," she said, her voice barely audible over the chaos. "Let me be the barrier that saves our world." The council, overwhelmed with emotion, watched as the Owl's body transformed into a shimmering curtain, sealing the rift and protecting Verdantar from the mysterious force. As the smoke cleared, the Crystal Dragon gazed upon the Owl's sacrifice in silence, his heart swelling with newfound respect for the Forest Guardians. From that day on, unity ignited among both groups. They worked together to heal the wounds of their land and forged a stronger bond between the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages. The memory of the Owl's sacrifice served as a reminder of what they could achieve when they stood united, and a lasting impact was made on the future of Verdantar. In the heart of the enchanted forest, the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages gathered for an unprecedented council meeting. The wise old Owl, leader of the Forest Guardians, addressed the assemblage with grave concern. "Our realms are under threat from a mysterious force that could destroy everything we hold dear," he intoned. The Crystal Dragon, ruler of the Mountain Mages, spoke next. "We must put aside our centuries-old conflict and make a difficult decision for the greater good. If we do not act together, all will be lost." A hush fell over the gathering as the two leaders laid out their plans. "What if... one group could make the ultimate sacrifice to protect both realms?" suggested the Owl. The Mages looked hesitant, but the Guardians nodded in agreement. After much debate and soul-searching, they came to a decision. "The Forest Guardians will offer ourselves as the sacrificial lamb to create a barrier that will save both our realms," declared the Owl proudly. A murmur of admiration rippled through the assembly, and the Crystal Dragon nodded solemnly. "The Mountain Mages accept your sacrifice, and we will join forces to protect and rebuild our shared realm." With a flash of light, the Owl transformed into a powerful barrier that protected both realms from the mysterious force. As the barrier held strong against the impending doom, unity ignited among the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages. Together, they vowed to work for the betterment of their shared realm, honoring the sacrifice made by the wise old Owl. The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the mystical forest and mountainous landscape. A sense of tension hung heavy in the air as representatives from both the Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages gathered for an urgent council. "We have been at odds for centuries," the wise old Owl began, his eyes gleaming with determination. "But a greater threat looms, one that could destroy us all." The Crystal Dragon's voice was cold and calculating, but there was no denying the seriousness in its words. "What must we do?" "We must put aside our differences and make a sacrifice for the greater good," a new voice emerged, and it belonged to a young Forest Guardian who had stepped forward bravely. The Owl nodded approvingly, while the Dragon's eyes narrowed in consideration. In a rare display of unity, both groups agreed that one group must be sacrificed to protect the realm from the impending doom. A murmur of agreement rippled through the council, and they prepared for the decision's execution. As the Owl stepped forward, its once radiant feathers now dulled by the weight of its sacrifice, it spoke one last time. "May our unity be a testament to what can be achieved when we stand together, not divided." With a final glance at the Mountain Mages, the Owl transformed into a brilliant barrier, shielding their world from the mysterious force. As the sun rose again, the once-divided realms found themselves united in their grief and gratitude. The Forest Guardians and Mountain Mages vowed to honor the Owl's sacrifice by working together for the betterment of their shared realm. The world had been saved, and a lasting impact was made through the ultimate act of selflessness. In the mystical land of Elyria, two groups lived in harmony for centuries - the Forest Guardians, who protected the lush and enchanted forest, and the Mountain Mages, masters of the mystical mountains. The Forest Guardians were led by the wise old Owl, while the Mountain Mages were governed by the stern and unyielding Crystal Dragon. Their coexistence was based on mutual respect and a delicate balance between the forces of nature. One day, an ominous force threatened to destroy both realms. The Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages realized they had to put aside their differences and make a crucial decision that would have serious consequences. The wise old Owl stepped forward, offering itself as the sacrificial lamb to create a barrier between the realms, saving them from impending doom. As the Owl's body began to glow with an ethereal light, the Crystal Dragon and other Mountain Mages bowed in respect. The Forest Guardians wept, knowing their leader had made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good. In the aftermath of the Owl's selfless act, a sense of unity ignited among both groups. They vowed to work together to protect and nurture their shared realm, ensuring that the wisdom and strength of both the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages would be passed on for generations to come. Through the Owl's sacrifice, Elyria found peace and harmony once again, proving that even in the darkest times, love and unity could prevail. Once upon a time, in a world divided by an enchanted forest and mystical mountains, two groups lived in harmony but also conflict. The Forest Guardians, led by the wise old Owl, and the Mountain Mages, governed by the stern and unyielding Crystal Dragon, had been at odds for centuries. However, a mysterious force began to threaten both realms, and it quickly became clear that they must make a crucial decision with serious consequences. The Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages held a council in the heart of the enchanted forest. The Owl, speaking softly but firmly, said, "For the sake of our worlds, we must put aside our differences and work together. There is no other way to save both our realms from this impending doom." The Crystal Dragon, with a voice that echoed through the mountains, replied, "Very well, let us find a solution that benefits all." After days of discussion and debate, the council reached a decision: one group must sacrifice themselves for the greater good. The wise old Owl, understanding the gravity of the situation, offered itself as the sacrificial lamb. With a heavy heart, the Crystal Dragon agreed to the decision, and the enchanted barrier was created between the realms. The barrier held strong, protecting both the forest and the mountains from the mysterious force. In its wake, unity ignited among the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages. They began to work together for the betterment of their shared realm, and a new era of peace dawned upon them. The wise old Owl's sacrifice was remembered and cherished, and it served as a symbol of hope that even in the darkest times, unity could prevail. In the heart of an enchanted forest, where mystical mountains loomed in the distance, two powerful groups stood united against a common threat. The Forest Guardians, led by the wise old Owl, were a harmonious community of creatures who protected their realm with unwavering devotion. They coexisted peacefully with the Mountain Mages, governed by the stern and unyielding Crystal Dragon, who harnessed the power of the mountains to keep their world safe. The peace between these two groups was threatened when a mysterious force began to corrupt both realms. With time running out, a crucial decision had to be made: sacrifice one group for the greater good, or risk losing everything they held dear. After much deliberation and consultation with their advisors, both the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages agreed that the wise old Owl would make the ultimate sacrifice. As the Owl stepped forward, its eyes filled with wisdom and courage, it addressed both groups with a heavy heart: "We have lived together in harmony for centuries, but now we face a greater challenge. I will offer myself as a barrier to protect our realms from this impending doom. It is my sacrifice, but it is for the greater good of us all." The Crystal Dragon bowed its head in respect and gratitude, while the Forest Guardians mourned the loss of their wise leader. The Owl's selfless act created a powerful barrier that protected both realms from the mysterious force. In the aftermath of the sacrifice, unity ignited among the Forest Guardians and the Mountain Mages, leading them to work together for the betterment of their shared realm. And so, from the ashes of conflict emerged a newfound harmony that would last for centuries to come.

Ahsoka Episode 6 “Far, Far Away”: The Story, the Symbolism, and the Score
Episode 6 of Ahsoka begins with the sound of distant purrgil calls as Ahsoka and Huyang travel through hyperspace, crossing the void between galaxies. During their discussion of the tales Huyang used to tell the Jedi younglings there is no music.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I loved that Huyang said such an iconic line in this episode, reminding us that this is indeed a fairy tale, a children’s story.
The Title Card for Ahsoka appears, and then the episode title, “Far, far Away.”
We hear ominous music when Sabine is in the brig onboard the Eye of Sion. The window to her cell is shaped like an upside down triangle.
The sinister music continues during the scene with Baylan, Shin, and Morgan on the bridge. Morgan’s Theme (the Nightsister theme) is heard when the Eye of Sion exits hyperspace.
The line “Peridea is a graveyard” reminds us that this is indeed a “descent into the abyss” a stage of the hero’s journey which I have discussed on this blog before. Ominous music plays here.
The characters who are aligned with the dark side are on a quest for more power to dominate others. They have followed the Path to Peridea as a kind of path to perdition as I have mentioned in my previous metas. But Sabine, our heroine, is descending into the Underworld on a more noble quest. She hopes to find her beloved Ezra Bridger, echoing the story of Orpheus, the hero of Greek myth who descends into the Underworld to find his beloved Eurydice.
Morgan’s Theme continues when they board the shuttle and descend to the planet Peridea.
The landscape of J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth is suggested by the giant statues and the Nightsister fortress, which resembles an evil version of Minas Tirith.
The characters encounter three Nightsisters, analogous to the Three Fates of Greek mythology, the Moirai. (Note the similarities between this word and the name of Ahsoka’s owl, Morai, a creature I predict that we will be seeing again soon.)
The three Fates were the personification of destiny in Greek mythology. The three sisters were known as Clotho (the spinner), Lachesis (the alotter), and Atropos (the unturnable, a metaphor for death). The end credits for this episode name these three Nightsisters as Klothow, Lakesis, and Aktropaw, clearly indicating the intended symbolism of these three characters. As George Lucas said back in the late nineties, “Well, when I did Star Wars I consciously set about to recreate myths and the — and the classic mythological motifs. And I wanted to use those motifs to deal with issues that existed today.” (From billmoyers.com) Lucas’ apprentice, Dave Filoni, has learned this lesson from the master himself.
The music is quieter in this scene, with sounds of low vibrations being heard. Morgan’s Theme continues when Sabine is imprisoned by the Nightsisters’ three orbs, which held her bound within a triangle made of red cords of energy.
Outside of the fortress three wolf-like creatures howl as ominous music plays. Choral music suggesting the mysticism of the fallen Jedi Order is heard as Baylan speaks of Peridea being a realm of “dreams and madness” from old “children’s stories come to life.” Once again, the viewer is reminded that we are being told a fairy tale, a myth. The musical score subtly teases the listener with three notes from Ahsoka’s Ronin theme in this scene.
Sabine is imprisoned inside the Nightsister fortress as the Chimaera arrives with the sound of ominous metallic rumbling. Thrawn’s flagship Star Destroyer was named after the female fire-breathing monster in Greek mythology which was part lion, part goat, and part dragon.
I am no Freudian, but the Chimaera’s open docking bay hovering over the phallic tower of the Nightsister fortress seems to be the most overtly sexual symbolism I have seen in Star Wars in a long time. However, I’m not here to discuss that visual metaphor.
Tumblr media
Organ music which anticipates but does not present Thrawn’s theme is heard as the Nighttroopers muster under Enoch’s command. These undead stormtroopers have cracked armor repaired with golden seams suggesting the Japanese art of kintsugi, as well as armor pieces bound with bands of red cloth. They are heard chanting “Thrawn! Thrawn!” as the Grand Admiral makes his dramatic entrance. For me this chant was reminiscent of how the orcs in Return of the King chanted “Grond! Grond!” when using their mighty battering ram against the walls of Minas Tirith. (You can do your own Freudian analysis of that scene. I’m not going there.) What was Grond?
“Grond, also known as the Wolf's Head, was a one hundred-foot long battering ram with a head in the shape of a ravening wolf, used in the arsenal of Sauron in the Third Age. Though named for Grond, Morgoth’s warhammer, it was created in the likeness of the Wolf of Angband, Carcharoth.”—from lotr.fandom.com
Creepy music accompanies the Nighttroopers as they transfer of cargo from the catacombs beneath the fortress. What is inside them? Dead Nightsisters, waiting to be revived by dark magic?
Thumps and low pitched sounds accompany Thrawn’s conversation with Baylan.
Thrawn speaks of Sabine’s desire to be reunited with her long-lost friend. (The word desire is a very intentional word choice, with the connotation that the connection between Sabine and Ezra has potential to be more than just friendship.)
Sabine: I’m sure he’s doing just fine.
Thrawn: You gambled the fate of your galaxy on that belief.
Sabine: You wouldn’t understand.
Thrawn: Perhaps not.
Evil does not understand love and loyalty. (See my previous post about the Path to Peridea.)
Enoch returns Sabine’s weapons to her, and she is provided with provisions and a wolf-like howler for a mount. He tells her to “die well” as she embarks on her “fool’s errand.”
The line about a “fool’s errand” calls to mind this scene from Tolkien’s novel, The Return of the King:
'Tell me,' he said, 'is there any hope? For Frodo, I mean; or at least mostly for Frodo.'
Gandalf put his hand on Pippin's head. 'There never was much hope,' he answered. 'Just a fool's hope, as I have been told…”
“A Fool’s Hope” was also the title of the penultimate episode of Star Wars Rebels final season.
Once again, Thrawn’s theme is only hinted at by the organ music at the end of the scene.
Sabine’s scanner is destroyed during her fight for her life with the red-armored bandits in the wastelands. Her life is saved by her Mandalorian armor and weapons, Ahsoka’s training, and Ezra’s lightsaber in this action sequence.
Baylan and Shin ride out on howlers. Nighttroopers load coffin-like cargo containers onto the Chimaera as uneasy music plays. Thrawn decides to dispatch only two squadrons of Nighttroopers. His disdain for Jedi, light or dark, is apparent: “It matters not whether Wren and Bridger are killed or stranded here. The same can be said for your two mercenaries.” Ominous music plays.
The scene with Sabine and the howler is accompanied by gentle music played upon wooden flutes. Sabine processes her abandonment issues and her complex feelings for Ezra in this scene by taking out her emotions on the howler. “You. You abandoned me. I should have known you are a coward.” She tries to make the howler stop following her, but the loyal animal comes back as soon as she walks away. “Okay. Fine,” she says. “I’ll give you another chance, but you better not bail on me this time.” The gentle flute music continues. A motif of ascending perfect fifths suggests Ezra’s Theme.
The howler stops to drink water and sniffs the air. The thing that Sabine and the audience assumes to be a rock is revealed to be a sentient little hermit-crab-like creature called a Noti. Gentle music plays when Sabine kneels, puts down her blaster, and extends her hand to the creature. The Noti recognizes the Rebel Alliance symbol (an evolution of her own Starbird design) on her pauldron. The creature has a medallion of his own, marked with a similar symbol.
“Do you know Ezra Bridger?” Sabine asks, touching her heart. “He’s my friend.”
Ominous music plays as Baylan and Shin discover the dead bandits. Once again choral music is heard when Baylan reminisces about the Jedi Order.
It is also revealed that the Nightsisters are fleeing from a power that is greater than their own.
Baylan and Shin see the red Bandits in the distance. “The enemy of our enemy is our friend,” says Baylan, “for now.”
Peaceful and noble sounding music is heard when Sabine sees the Noti encampment. She smiles at the mother Noti rocking her baby in a hammock.
With Sabine in the foreground, the camera pans to show a now adult, bearded Ezra Bridger wearing a red robe and leaning against the wall of his home. “I knew I could count on you,” he says as joyful music plays, music which features the piccolo, flute, and other woodwind instruments.
The closed captioning for this episode says that there is captivating music playing when Sabine and Ezra finally embrace. We hear a beautifully orchestrated rendition of Ezra’s Theme on the French horn with a new countermelody in the strings to heighten the emotional impact of this long-awaited scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ezra’s Theme is heard again when he says “Sabine, thanks for coming. I can’t wait to go home.”
When we return to where the Chimaera is docked with the Nightsister fortress, a suggestion of Thrawn’s Theme is heard at a quick tempo suggesting the urgency of the situation that is about to unfold. Ahsoka Tano is coming. “The thread of destiny demands it” is a line that further emphasizes the three Nightsisters playing the role of the three fates. We finally hear Thrawn’s Theme presented in an obvious way as the episode ends.
I have blogged about the magnificent end credits music in previous blog posts, so this time I am going to discuss something different: the alchemical symbolism in Ahsoka.
The central focus of alchemy was to transmute base metals into gold and create the elixir of life, as any aficionado of the lore of the philosopher’s stone knows. The process is a metaphor for the purification and transformation of the human soul to a state of perfection.
Three colors symbolize this process, black, white, and red.
First there is the nigredo (blackening) stage of the alchemist’s work, representing the breaking of the human spirit. This is where both Sabine and Ahsoka are at the beginning of the series.
Second is the albedo (whitening) stage, which involves washing away impurities or vices, and being ready to grow and learn again. This is most clearly illustrated by Ahsoka the Grey’s “death” and transformation into Ahsoka the White.
Third is the rubedo (reddening) stage, which is where we are in the story right now. It represents the purified and awakened spirit reaching its highest and purest form.
“The symbols used in alchemical writing and art to represent this red stage can include blood, a phoenix , a rose, a crowned king, or a figure wearing red clothes.”—Wikipedia.
The color red, of course, is symbolic of Nightsisters and their magic in this series, as well as symbolizing the red thread of fate.
Baylan Skoll’s line about having to “destroy in order to create” is an example of the alchemical concept of “solve et coagula” meaning to separate then join together. Nothing new can be built without destroying the old. Perhaps this is really telling us about the destruction and rebuilding of the Jedi Order.
In the completion of the rubedo stage there must be a union of sulphur and mercury, also known as the wedding of the Red King (the sun) and the White Queen (the moon). Sulphur represents the masculine principle, the soul, and the fire of life. (Remember Ezra’s red robe?) Mercury represents the feminine principle and the mind, flexible and changing. (Sabine is a clever young woman who lives inside her head, sometimes too much. Lately she’s been distracted by her heart.) Mercury also represents a state that can transcend death.
Is the much-discussed Ezra and Sabine hug the union of Sulphur and Mercury? Or should we expect something more than that?
Much has been written about Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati as the mythological wolves who chase the sun and the moon. This episode ends with the pair in pursuit of Ezra (sulphur, the Red King, the sun) and Sabine (mercury, the White Queen, the moon). When Skoll and Hati catch the sun and the moon, Ragnarok begins.
Besides sulphur and mercury, there is another element present at the rubedo stage of alchemical transformation: salt.
Ahsoka the White is coming.
Please reblog and comment on what you think of my musical and literary analysis of this episode of Ahsoka. I am looking forward to reading your replies.

Wof Tribe Headcanons
IceWings have lots of variety in the shapes of their horns. They can be straight, curved, looped like a ram's, or branched like antlers.
IceWings can have gray or green eyes as well as blue.
Somewhat of a given but IceWings have blue gums. I noticed this while drawing one with bared teeth lol
SeaWings have a coating of slime on their scales to help them glide through the water, like a fish. Because of this, they always feel wet to the touch.
More of a redesign than a headcanon but I feel like SandWings should be able to have a gene for rattle tails instead of barbed. Additionally, they should have mouth venom like a NightWing.
SkyWings are particularly closely related to RainWings and can change color very slightly between shades of red, orange, or pink.
Solid color dragons are boring af so guess what! They can have markings! Stripes, tails of different shades, spots, speckles, freckles, face stars, muzzles, blazes, tail tips.
Many MudWings have green mixed in with their scales to blend in to more mossy or algae filled swamp land. They can also have green or yellow eyes as well as brown.
SkyWings have a holiday like Halloween, where they carve gourd lanterns and make sweets and whatnot and the high status ones paint their faces and wear costumes because it's the night where the spirits can come down from the sky and cause Mayhem and I'm not sure what other traditions it would entail but the war and Queen Scarlet and all that kinda made it not fun for a while so they stopped celebrating as much but Ruby is bringing back the Fun and doing pair costumes with Cliff
SandWings grow marijuana
NightWings can have silver freckles
The only tribes that have SLIT PUPILS should be SeaWings and NightWings because SeaWings have good night vision and NightWings also should, as they are in fact up at night.
This fact in mind, NightWings should 100 percent have LIGHT eye colors because LIGHT eye colors reflect more light so one can SEE BETTER AT NIGHT. These colors should include yellow, orange, green, and blue, maybe purple because they're all mystical. Not black eyes like are described on Darkstalker.
SandWings are often superstitious and things like magicicans, psychics, witchcraft, onstage shows are common jobs. It was probably originally an idea to trick people into paying them for lying, but it caught on and now many people believe it. Storytelling is also a common job.
NightWing wings have sort of feathery edges like an owl, allowing for near silent flight at night.
Falconry is common in SkyWings because birds of prey are the only pet they can have follow them and be even close to keeping up with them in the sky.
I've probably said this before but uh?? Where's our tribe flags??? They need flags and symbols and stuff??
RainWings have flat molars because they eat more fruit than any other tribe and have for thousands of years
SilkWings can have fuzz like moths! They can have patches of it, or a line down their back, or a tail tuft, or be completely covered!
SeaWings can have barbels like catfish. This makes them especially useful at hunting for shellfish. SeaWings and SandWings also have heat sensors.
SandWings can taste the air like a snake. Their tongues flick out whenever they are intrigued. They have a bit of a lisp because their tongues are unusually shaped.

The Beasts as Literal Beasts 2: Mystic Boogalow
Tumblr media
This time the game actually gave me an animal to work with, but before any trailers came out I was already thinking about possibilities for her (she leaked pretty quickly tbh). Maybe a bird of some kind? A dragon? Among the birds I was thinking of "graceful birds" (I ended thinking about herons without knowing it) or even a snow owl so she could turn her head 180°. When the spider thing was revealed I decided to wait until the full release and my final verdict was heron + spider thang Both herons and spiders have important symbology. Spiders represent being trapped in the eternal cycle of death and rebirth in Buddhism, while herons are a symbol of purity, their flight being seen as rising up to the enlightenment above. Mystic Flour basically had a distorted version of this rising to the enlightenment, so the species was chosen because of the irony. Can't wait for the next Beasts to be revealed :0

I was rewatching the “Dragons” OSP trope talk, and I realized that we see so many different variants of dragons, but we hardly see different variants of other species, like elves. They’re all the same: tall, fair, thin, graceful (The Dragon Prince did a really great subversion of this). Elves are supposed to be mystical magical beings, right? Then why are they so boring? I want to see other types!! Elves with different skin tones!!! Elves with crazy characteristics that match their magic!!!
Fire elves whose hair is always alight and emits smoke when exhausted and sparks when energetic with black skin with veins running down their arms that glow a fiery orange!!!! Water elves with storm clouds for hair and webs in between their fingers and toes and always smell like sea salt or incoming rain!!! Earth and plant elves with as many skin tones and hair colors as there are different flowers and soils and can gain nutrients through photosynthesis and reproduce asexually and emit the scent of petrichor when they touch water!!!!
Tree elves that are impossibly old and their skin is rough like bark with circles that appear with age and their blood is sticky and sweet like sap!!! Winter elves with ice-cold skin with veins across their body that looks like shattered ice and leaves frost everywhere they touch!!!! Desert elves with gritty skin that slowly turns to glass with age and is hot to the touch in the day and cold at night!!!! Lightning elves whose voices crackle with electricity and hair that is constantly frizzy and standing up and that gives off static shocks whenever they’re emotional!!!
Elves with animal features!!! Owl elves covered in feathers and can turn their head 270 degrees and see wayyyy better than most others!!! Arctic fox and hare elves with fur that changes color with the seasons and have impeccable hearing and are resistant to the cold!!! Scorpion elves that are resistant to the heat and have naturally hard skin and a tail full of venom!!! Shark elves with multiple rows of teeth and rough skin and are sensitive to electromagnetic fields!!!
ELVES WITH DIFFERENT BODY TYPES AND ELVES WITH DISABILITIES!!!
WHALE ELVES THAT ARE LARGE AND HEAVY AND CAN MAKE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS!!! MUSHROOMS ELVES THAT ARE SHORT AND PLUMP WITH BIOLUMINESCENT SKIN AND CAPS THAT GROW ALL OVER THEIR BODY!!!! MOTH ELVES THAT ARE SMALL AND THICK AND HAVE A DEEP LONGING FOR L I G H T.
SKY ELVES THAT CAN WALK ON AIR AND ARE NEGATIVELY AFFECTED BY AIR POLLUTION!!! BEE ELVES THAT NATURALLY ATTRACT POLLEN TO THEM AND ARE AT A HIGH RISK OF DEATH DUE TO THEIR STINGER BEING THEIR ONLY NATURAL WEAPON!!! GEMSTONE ELVES WITH SKIN AND EYES THAT GLITTER AND SHINE WITH BONES THAT VARY ACCORDING TO THE HARDNESS SCALE!!! LEAF ELVES WHOSE HAIR CHANGES COLORS AND FALLS OUT IN AUTUMN AND GET SEASONAL DEPRESSION THE CLOSER TO WINTER IT GETS!!!!
There are so many possibilities!!! I know that Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons really laid down the foundation for much of the fantasy genre and characteristics such as magic systems and races, but that doesn’t mean we have to stick to the the same path. Branch out! Do something unique! You’ve got a river of creativity in you, let it loose! Let it break the banks and surge through you!!!
It’s my opinion, as an avid fan and writer of fantasy, that while we can appreciate and certainly build off what Tolkien laid down, we should take the initiative to start crafting our own fantasies, make our own contributions to the fantasy genre. Because in the end, “fantasy” is such a broad term, impossibly vast, there are so many aspects to the concept of “fantasy”, that we could never truly manage to run out of ideas.
I am, of course, not saying that people who enjoy the classical concept of fantasy are wrong or boring. If that’s what you enjoy, then go for it! Heck, I enjoy it, too! But I also think that there is a wellspring of potential in each of us, and I wholly believe that we can put some of the craziest and unique ideas into words and onto paper, no matter how it happens.

Jungle Fury Random Headcanons and Ideas
@skyland2703 @augment-techs @mo-ok @junglefurytrash went a bit crazy with this one
-Casey is the youngest of five siblings, and is the only boy in the family. He knows how to do makeup and hair.
-Due to his upbringing everyone in the house expected him to be gay, he was kind of dreading having to tell his mother and sisters but they were pretty chill about it.
-His sisters are either quintuplets or triplets and two adopted sisters depending on what you want to go with.
-Despite being the blue ranger Theo didn't develop his animal spirit until after Luen gained his. His parents seem to expect more from him as they were students in a sub school associated with the Pai Zhua.
-Theo's won a Guinness World Record award for karaoke, he claims it's in his blood to be amazing at it.
-Lily grew up within a small apartment in the city, she enjoys all the different foods that a place has to offer. Anything that's new and changing, reminds her of home.
-There's a chance that she trained with Zack and had him as a partner as she did mentioned how she used to do competitive dance competitions.
-RJ's mother passed away when he was young and he kind of blames himself for it. Despite trying to make their relationship better Finn may have blamed him all those years ago for Mrs. James's passing, just a constant reminder of her not being here.
-RJ is amongst one of the only individuals(Like Antonio) to discover the Morphin Grid on his own and is the reason the Pai Zhua has it as access.
-Sometimes just to spite Finn RJ catches fish and attaches them around the shark master's house. That way his air conditioning can smell terrible.
-Dominic flunked out of college, he was studying to become a teacher in geography.
-Casey seems more ticked off with Dominic because of the idea that he might try to go for Jarrod or RJ.
-Jarrod enjoys being around animals as his parents weren’t really around, his mother didn’t really enjoy the prospect of having a boy and his dad would either yell all the time or get pissed off about farm work not doing well so Jarrod cuddling up with a fluffy sheep or even summoning his black lion spirit to sleep next to it’s mane would soothe him.
-Despite all the troubles within the school Master Mao kinda sees Jarrod as his own son(Any of you kingdom hearts fans, cough cough Eraqus and Terra).
-Camille’s hatred of snakes was due to her mother being killed by Naja 10,000 years ago, she’s unaware of this fact but disposing of the snake rinshi felt right when it happened in the show.
-Her eyeshadow is actually a trait of her animal spirits. Animal spirits have way more depth to them as they are the shadow of one’s self, in some cases specific traits about said spirit leak into the person like physical to mental details (example: Camille’s eyeshadow, RJ’s ferocity from his wolf spirit.)
-megazords formed by animal spirits were based on specific influences centuries ago, from totems, giant sculptures like sphinx and even Animus. Some can claim that the guardians of the Pai Zhua were the first people to create earthly megazords within human history.
-mystical beasts or fictional animal like creatures such as the phoenix, azure dragon etc are somewhat rare due to a very small percent of people born with one or those entities giving access to said person. Such as the Phantom Beasts who are based on specific creatures. If Nick or Chip were to come to Pai Zhua and develop a phoenix and Garuda spirit then they’d be a powerful force.
-rinzen and zocalo energy isn’t inherently bad energy but the power is mainly associated with rinshi, the rangers have the potential to access it and even gain phantom beast modes similar to Jarrod and Camille.
-Fran’s animal spirit can range either from a black cat, owl or monkey and gives her abilities based on inner luck or focus making her quite powerful.
-Lily basically adopted Casey as her own little brother.
-Secretly Jarrod wants to pursue cooking or something based in creativity. He didn't touch a kitchen utensil for weeks after seeing kitchen nightmares and it took RJ having to throw the tapes out to get him back into cooking.
-Master Swoop can actually split himself into bat's and has the little shadows spying around the world for any threats. Its kind of creepy but very effective as he can easily have the bat's acting as kamikaze strikers to defeat monsters. Rangers on other teams don't know how threats get taken down but they don't mind, less work load.
-the Pai Zhua has more schools within the world that differentiate in some fighting styles and such. Some schools like the ninja academies try to pick up on their skills but a few of the campuses keep secret.
-Zordon tried to learn about the teachings thousands of years ago as their abilities mixing with the grid gave way for a spike in power with combat but they shunned the wizard away cause of being weary about his motives. Ninjor was welcomed in open arms via the power coins he had. This also explains why Jungle Fury was so scarce with the other teams up until megaforce.
-despite everything the Pai Zhua is nowhere near as moral as they tried to portray themsleves as. Some people can be very toxic in a few areas, Dai Shi had possessed people in the past and with each attempt they tried to have the individuals go mad and die from the experience as a way to rid themselves of the dragon. Casey and the rangers dismantled this ideology after killing the Dai Shi.
-because of her potential the academy sent scouts to try and push Fran to join the academy but RJ quickly shut that down and actually threatened a few of the higher officials because of this.
-Animal spirits talk amongst themselves when the team isn't around. Some play poker when everyone's asleep.
-because of being spirit and mythical based the JF team can handle most of the recurring threats of Zedd and Rita. Plus with their megazords not being mechanical they aren't easily disposed of.
-RJ secretly made JKP into a megazord incase there's an emergency, he met Antonio and added a shitload of symbol power and animal spirit energy to make it a powerful force.
-Lily loves a lot of 80s-90s music and loves to dress in a semi style of Y2K.
-Having no knowledge of Pokemon, Camille and Casey were sat down by Theo and Fran until they were introduced to Gen 4. Camille hacked her Platinum cartridge to get all the mythical and legendary mon events.
-RJ smokes blunts mainly to calm himself, it started as a way to escape the thought of his mother being goin and his father's disapproval.
-Tommy and Jason aren't allowed in Ocean Bluff when it comes to ranger activity because RJ's access to the grid could be useful but he likes to gatekeep and personally team wise if anything happens both him and the group wouldn't enjoy veteran rangers from the first modern team(unless it's billy) coming in and taking over operations.
-Camile and Jarrod jump monsters whenever a mission happens, forget talking, get the job done when needed.
-Casey was fired from the zoo for sleeping in the tiger cage and released all the animals into nice reservations after he was let go.
-Lily was made team leader as Casey doesn't feel too well with getting the role just for being a red ranger.
-Theo is a master at coming up with combo attacks and megazord concepts to the point that rangers like Chip and Max come to him for guidance. He's got quite the reputation in the ranger community for his witty ideas.
-Casey is on a red ranger watch list due to his sword skills, despite keeping their word Jason may have came to the city to demand some aid with their grid research and the two got into a brawl with Casey winning. Him, Jayden and Lauren are all at the top five of said list.
-RJ has dated lots of people but it usually never ends on a perfect note as they were usually relationships with people who took emotional advantage over him. Though he's in a better place within his life to try again with Casey or anyone who actually values him.
-Jarrod listens to a lot of punk music and back at the school Mao got complaints about speakers Blaring music at two in the morning.
-Cam hangs with RJ and shares ideas but he isn't allowed to tell Tommy about any of their conversations. The two may have had a thing in the past.
-Wolf rangers tend to have a powerful aura and they each meet together to talk about business, RJ has a bone themed secret landline he uses to contact them.( @sentinelofstories wolf war 👀😭)
-Due to Dai Shi the JF teams has a disdain for dragons, Serpentera count your days if you ever come back.
-Camille's rinshi form is just armor but was never accepted fully as a rinshi, she only became one to seem worthy in Dai Shi's eyes. The phantom beast hated her for many things and this was one of the reasons, thousands of years ago she murdered three previous members for nearly trying to assassinate her.
-Princess Shayla and the Wild Force rangers are on good terms with the JF team. Merrick follows RJ around like a lost puppy, Taylor spites Theo for being short, Lily tried to get Danny out of his shell. Max tries to explain modern day concepts to Camille, Alyssa and Dominic do small talk and Cole is given death glares from RJ or Jarrod because Casey has caught eyes for him.
-Casey is Gay, Lily is Bi, Theo is a straight ally, Camille and Jarrod are angry bisexuals, RJ is pan, Fran and Dom are unsure of what they are.
-It is unknown if dinosaurs can become animal spirits but Eric actively seeks out Casey to test this theory.
-Casey's favorite red ranger is TJ.
-The team watches movies each Thursday, Everyone except Lily can't handle watching Final Destination.
-it took some time but Jungle Fury had their crossover with RPM and its safe to say things were chaotic. Dillon and Jarrod pretty much had a staring contest with each other, RJ and Flynn got high for the most part, Scott kept crying tears of joy when Casey took him to see their world since it isn't destroyed, Theo wanted to throw himself out the window from hanging with Ziggy, Summer took Lily shopping and Camille was this close to murdering the twins but actually found herself warming up to them, she even went on a date with Gemma.
-Billy is on thin ice for trying to bring Zordon back and while RJ likes the dude he'd prefer that the giant head wouldn’t butt in on all of their affairs.

To tide y’all over until the bracket is finished, here’s a list of every fandom in the tournament! Sorted by when each got its first submission.
It takes time to make the bracket cuz I gotta arrange all of these to be at least semi-equal in popularity to each other, and then make all the edited photos. I’ve been rather busy lately, but it should be up by tomorrow night :)
