I finally convinced myself to repaint my Mystic Kids Miri in (mellowed) normal pink skin. She’s an old gal, I’ve had her since 2013, maybe 2014, I think?
Let’s compare the Faceup to her old one:
Her new Faceup turned out much brighter than her previous. It bothered me for years now that her eye detailing didn’t match her wig as she’d been wearing a dark blue wig forever years.
Commissions are open!!

💕 or 📖 from the get to know me meme (for you)
Oh my…I’m super flattered and honestly a little amazed that I got questions for myself (I figured it would be mostly characters with maybe an ask thrown in here and there for my OC’s). So I’m really happy about that but at the same time, god, did you pick the two hardest questions for me ahaha! Like, these are super, duper tough for me to answer! I’ma try my best though!!
Your two top fave fictional characters?
Impossible to answer. Simply impossible. There are so many really great, nuanced, interesting characters out there in so many different forms of media. There are so many characters I really love and have developed deep bonds with over the years and to pick just two is impossible. It’s also really hard because, as I’ve admitted before, my favourites are always constantly changing. Even for just my fandoms on here, my favourite characters are constantly shifting and changing for the most part. Outside of the fandoms I write for on here, Watson from Sherlock Holmes, Ron Weasley from Harry Potter, Leo from the Heroes of Olympus series, and Frank from Hold Me Closer, Necromancer are some of my favourite literary characters. For video games, it’s Link and Princess Peach all the way for me, because I was raised on a babysitter’s Nintendo and first loves die hard. To try to give a better answer, I’ll also give my current favourite two characters from each of my fandoms, but remember that in like, two months, these will likely have changed:
For KHR, it’s currently Tsuna and Haru.
For K, it’s Fujishima and Shouhei, currently.
For Servamp, it’s Tsurugi and Yumi and Jun. Just all three of them.
For Iruma-kun, it’s Ifrit and Kalego.
For Bungou Stray Dogs, it’s Fukuchi and Fukuzawa.
For Nanbaka, it’s Hajime and Samon.
For Eyeshield 21, it’s Kid and Agon.
For The Vampire Dies in No Time!, it’s Ronaldo and Shot.
For JJK, it’s Panda and Bernard.
For Dogs, it’s Badou and Giovanni.
For Mashle, it’s Dot and Finn.
For A3!, it’s Tsuzuru and Sakyo.
For S8, it’s Shadow and Reki.
For YYH, it’s Kuwabara and Yusuke.
For Demon Slayer, it’s Zenitsu and Rengoku.
For Assassination Classroom, it’s Karma and Rio.
For Black Cat, it’s Sven and Charden.
For Bleach, it’s Renji and Akon.
For Blue Lock, it’s Ego and Bachira.
For Buddy Daddies, it’s Miri and Rei.
For BNHA, it’s Fat Gum and Mirio.
For Chainsaw Man, it’s Power and Hirofumi.
For Deadman Wonderland, it’s Senji and Karako.
For Fairy Tail, it’s Lucy and Rogue.
For Gangsta., it’s Nic and Hausen.
For GetBackers, it’s Emishi and Ginji.
For Gintama, it’s Gintoki and Kagura.
For Golden Kamuy, it’s Asirpa and Ogata.
For Haikyuu, it’s Daichi, Suga, and Asahi – all three are tied in a great big bow like a giant present and they’re where a vast majority of my love is going. And lust…some of that most definitely.
For Hunter x Hunter, it’s Ging and Chrollo.
For High Card, it’s Chris and Vijay.
For Hinomaru Sumo, it’s Hinomaru and Yuma.
For Joker Game, it’s Sakuma and Jitsui.
For Karneval, it’s Gareki and Yogi.
For Kuroko no Basuke, it’s Taiga and Midorima.
For Magi, it’s Jafar and Sinbad.
For Yowamushi Pedal, it’s Makishima and Sakamichi.
For Mob Psycho 100, it’s Shigeo and Dimple.
For Naruto, it’s Sasori and Deidara.
For One Punch Man, it’s Zombieman and King.
For One Piece, it’s Luffy and Smoker.
For Ronin Warriors, it’s Rowen and Kento.
For Ouran, it’s Honey and Haruhi.
For Saiyuki, it’s Gojyo and Goku.
For The Royal Tutor, it’s Heine and Bruno.
For Tokyo Revengers, it’s Mikey and Ken.
For Soul Eater, it’s Maka and Stein.
For Durarara, it’s Celty and Shinra.
For Kekkaishi, it’s Tokine and Shishio.
For 07-Ghost, it’s Frau and Hyuuga.
For Windbreaker, it’s Mitsuki and Tasuku.
For Beyblade, it’s Kenny and Madoka.
For Black Clover, it’s the whole of the Agrippa family because their designs are cool and Zora.
For Mystic Messenger, it’s V and Jumin.
For Ikemen Revolution, it’s Fenrir and Sirius.
For Class of the Titans, it’s Neil and Odie.
For Gravity Falls, it’s Stan and Wendy.
For Ultimate Spider-Man, it’s Danny and Peter.
For The Covenant, it’s Pogue and Tyler.
For The Mighty Ducks, it’s Averman and Fulton.
For The Outsiders, it’s Dally and Pony.
For Hold Me Closer, Necromancer, it’s Frank and Sean.
Fave book?
I have a lot of books that I dearly love. Much like with characters, it’s really impossible to just choose one. The list of them all that I think are fantastic would fill whole pages. I read a lot of different genres though, surprising because it’s a large part of what I write, pure romance remains the only thing I don’t enjoy reading at all. Mostly because I find them either very formulaic with cliched characters or I find the romances they portray to be vaguely (or in some cases, not so vaguely) toxic. There are a few exceptions to that rule as there are a few romances that I did enjoy, but largely because of other factors within the story. There’s a Harlequin series, of all things, underneath their paranormal romance series, called the Bloodrunners and I enjoyed those. I also enjoyed Dante and Aristotle Discover the Secrets of the Universe. I read a lot of biographies (mostly recently read Britney Spears biography), adore cozy mysteries (currently reading the Murder, She Wrote novel series) and not so cozy mysteries (excited to start the second book in the John Ceepak mysteries). I also read a lot of urban fantasy (big fan of the fantastical noir tropes, with Who Censored Roger Rabbit being a fantastic example and I do enjoy the Dresden Files). Horror though? That’s my jam. I’ve been a huge Stephen King fan since I was around eleven and I really love Grady Hendrix. I also am not someone who feels I need to keep myself to reading only adult novels. I love kids books. I recently revisited and read all the classic Goosebumps books for a wave of nostalgia and despite being written for kids, I love the Percy Jackson series and own a lot of both the Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys novels. Of course, the classics are always worth reading. I reread Alice in Wonderland and The Little Prince quite often, along with the Anne of Green Gables novels, Little Women/Little Men, and Frankenstein quite often. Basically, I just really love books and always appreciate any good recommendations for new ones.

I will try?
Tall cream boy in pink sweater, pink wig, and tie-dye dark pink pants is a Switch - ah shoot, I've already forgotten. I thought they said Ajeong? (Sorry, I should have written this stuff down. Note to self - take notebook next time.) Hey @blacksheepdolls - who is your boy?
Tall girl is my Dollmore Trinity Elysia holding a - either a Pukifee or Realpuki (the owner said Realpuki at the meet but tagged it Pukifee on Facebook, and considering I forgot my dolls all the time, heh).
Doll with black messy wig in all black is my Fairyland Feeple65 Medusa Angela on the Impldoll Star Model 63 cm body.
Cream kneeling doll with pastel rainbow wig is my Supia Doll Rosy on the DF-H 68-cm muscular female body.
In the brown Adirondack chair is Doll Chateau Sharon (I love this sculpt). Behind her in a high back chair in a pastel pink wig is Mystic Kids Miri (1/3 scale doll).
Between Sharon and Rosy is a Volks SDM doll. Behind her was a Volks SD10 doll - Mio, possibly (they didn't remember, either).
Front middle in red/purple is a vinyl limited Volks Dollfie Dream - going to need help with the character. Is this a Sailor Moon doll?
The 1/4 Fairyland Fairyline Hyde with rabbit legs belongs to blacksheepdolls. Someone is looking for another pair of 1/4 rabbit legs, if you know someone with a set to sell.
Tall man in chair with facial hair is a resin Granado boy, and man was his outfit amazing. Pretty sure it is Cain. Like Iplehouse, Granado boys take small (12 mm) eyes.
White doll in blue dress with horns is a Gem of Doll Capricorn Shipher fullset, and man if that outfit wasn't gorgeous (and complicated). Her owner might be buying my Elysia, heh heh heh. (The owner really liked Elyisa. I liked finding a sucker volunteer to carry Elysia around.)
The quintet of dolls, top right, with the Battat brown horse are all Resinsoul, and their owners make the clothes and painted the dolls. Incredibly talented pair - Aeon's Wares (on Etsy) makes clothes, and the spouse makes props. I traded clothes with them for my noisy sewing machine.
The headless doll being held by another Resinsoul boy is an old 1/3 Dreaming Doll body in search of a head. I brought a Mystic Kids blank Miri head, but it was too small. Also - I owe the owner the heel feet.
spring meet-up at inniswood metro gardens. I had a great time meeting everyone and gushing over all the gorgeous dolls! can't wait for the next one.
I won't be tagging all the sculpts bc there's too many lol.

Finally!!! Ready to the photoshoot!!! I finished Ancily's outfit. I made her to one of my best friends, so I hope, this doll will help her with the writing.
The clothes set includes:
✦ elastic velvet / lace shirt ✦ corset waisted lace skirt with lining ✦ velvet cloak ✦ headband with roses and skulls ✦ velvet / lace gothic bag ✦ elastic tulle stockings ✦ necklace
plus I made eyes to her too.
I know I know... pants and bra are still missing, and it would be cool to make gloves too, but I was too tired to make those items too :(
Worked several nights on the set, but worth every minute ~

Note: OC is a lawyer but the author knows nothing about law except the three law subjects she took last semester. errors. ah. there will always be errors here bc english isn’t my first language. anyway!!! enjoy!
Jimin wasn't lying when he said you were a mess. This was evident to Jeongguk the second he stepped inside your apartment.
Pile of cardboard boxes and papers were cluttered all over the floor, causing him to feel uneasy. The faint colors visible in his eyes didn't help to calm his nerves. It was as if he suddenly became hypersensitive to his surroundings.
He assumed that your house wasn't really that untidy, but as stated, the colors made it seem like it was untidier.
"Hi there, buddy." Jeongguk forced a smile at the cat glaring at him. He remembered Jimin telling him that your cat was a bitch. The fury pet was making this strange, scary sound. Jeongguk suddenly wished you were here to stop the cat from attacking him.
He wasn't expecting you to lock yourself inside your room the moment you realized that he was your soulmate.
He was so startled by your reaction that his first instinct was to run after you. The thing was, your cat was blocking your bedroom door—stopping him from intruding your personal space. It was obvious that the little animal didn't like the fact that Jeongguk invited himself inside your home.
Jeongguk didn't know why you were hiding from him. In your defense, you were embarrassed. What were you supposed to say to your soulmate? How were you going to explain to him that the reason why you looked like a mess was because of your demanding job?
Being a civil lawyer was exhausting. One second you're negotiating settlement with the other side's attorney, then you would just find yourself filing motions in court and of course, there were many instances where you're standing before the jury and judge to present a case.
Expertise wasn't the only thing necessary in law. You also needed a great amount of empathy so that you could understand your clients. You cared for them a lot; this was why it was such a big deal for you whenever they choose to omit facts.
You hated it when your clients were being dishonest, you didn't need them to be innocent. You only wanted them to tell you the absolute truth so that you could properly defend them. It wasn't like your job was easy. The fact that most people living in your world see in black and white was already a pain in the ass. Earlier this day, you had a client who was suing a businessperson for selling fake whitening products. She claimed that she spent a whopping two thousand dollars to get that fair skin tone. Sadly, it didn't work.
The opposing side asked your client this: how can you say that the products don’t work when you can’t even see colors?
You were shocked to learn this. Your client was subject to a color test for eyes. She said she could see colors when in fact, she couldn't. Actually, the only reason why the vendor sold your client the whitening products was because she also lied to the seller. The latter's rule was that she wouldn't allow people who see in black and white to purchase her products. This was so she could protect her business' image from fraudster like your client.
Things like this often happened in court. The one you encountered were usually easier to resolve, unlike what criminal lawyers face. This, however, didn't mean your job should be taken lightly.
What happened in court today actually took a toll on you. Your boss humiliated you in front of your colleagues, saying that he couldn't believe an experienced lawyer like you would make such rookie mistake. This made you feel like a loser that's why you decided to go home early to rest. You knew you couldn't work when your heart was this heavy.
You ran yourself a bath the moment you reached your apartment. Jimin was bombarding your phone with text messages to remind you that Jeongguk, a friend of his, was going to drop at your place later today since he was interested to be your roommate.
You simply replied 'Yes, I haven't forgotten. Stop pestering me,' to your best friend. Truthfully, Jimin hadn't shut up about this guy named Jeongguk since last week. He kept telling you that he was the perfect replacement for Seulgi, your former roommate.
You just shrugged it off. Honestly, you didn't care if Jeongguk was the perfect roommate or not. At this point, you would take anyone in. You seriously needed someone who could help you with the household chores.
The warm water grazing your skin made you feel sleepy. Before you knew it, you're off to dreamland; however, your little slumber was disrupted by loud knocks coming from your front door.
"Shit!" Your eyes went wide upon realizing that your supposed to be new roommate was already at the door. As if to confirm the horror, your phone rang.
Jimin was calling.
"Where the hell are you? Jeongguk is in front of your door!"
"I know. I'm so sorry! I fell asleep." You got out of the tub, hurriedly putting on your bathrobe.
"Talk to you later!" You ended the voice call, rushing towards the door. Unfortunately, you slipped on the wet floor.
You whined in pain. Luck was truly not on your side today, but instead of getting annoyed, you simply stood up and went your way to the door.
"I'm sorry, I was in the shower. I swear I heard you the first time you knocked, but I was panicking so I slipped down the floor and I..." You were already blabbering right after opening the door. You hadn't seen your future roommate's face because it was easier to lie without looking at someone in the eyes.
You didn't know why you told him you heard his first knock, when in reality, you didn't. You guessed you just hated disappointing people. What happened with your boss today was something you couldn't let to be repeated again. You couldn't bear to irritate another person.
You kept yourself busy as you reasoned out. You ran your hand through your wet hair, eyes widening when you saw your fingers covered in soap suds.
"Oh, my God!" You were panicking again. This time, you finally looked at Jeongguk to see his reaction.
It was like the world stopped.
No. You did not see colors instantly. What you felt was something strange—mystical perhaps. It was just like how they described it in books and movies.
You thought people were exaggerating about what they claimed they felt when they met their soulmates.
Apparently, they were not.
You know the feeling of finally seeing the rainbow after the strong storm? It was like that. Except this was way better. Your young self was probably rejoicing now. Being able to meet and look in your soulmate's eyes was dazzling.
The colors were becoming visible now, it was faint—this was in contrast to the embarrassment you were feeling.
You suddenly became very self-conscious with what you looked like. You were wrong. Your young self wasn't that happy because she wasn't expecting to meet her soulmate like this.
You were aware that you looked awful. The bags under your bloodshot eyes were probably so deep. The soap suds in your hair made you appear ridiculous. The most horrifying of all? You were wearing a bathrobe designed with the face of your favorite cartoon character.
"Uh—"
You ran away, locking yourself in your room before Jeongguk could finish what he was about to say.
Your heart was beating so fast as you stared in the mirror. The disgust you felt intensified. God. You looked horrible. You mentally cursed the brand of the mascara you were wearing. So much for claiming to be smudge proof! Curse yourself too because this wouldn't happen in the first place if you only refrained from crying over your boss' mean words, but it seemed like you never learned. You just scolded yourself from crying easily, but here you were, tears were painting your cheeks once again.
"No..." Your lips quivered. You were stronger than this. You weren't going to ruin your chance with your soulmate.
Determined, you quickly changed into a sage dress. Your hands were trembling because of your new found excitement. You loved colors ever since you were a kid. The fact that you couldn't see them didn't stop you from learning its meaning. You studied good color combination before. You were aware how to aesthetically match the hues. For instance, you knew that you would look ridiculous if you wore a neon green shirt and bright pink jeans. You were always careful in choosing what to wear, so now that you could finally see colors without referring to your color palette generator, you were beyond happy.
When you looked decent enough, you decided to finally face your soulmate. The first thing you saw as you opened your bedroom door was Jeongguk sitting on your couch—this was a very shocking scene. No. You weren't surprised because he was casually plopped down on your sofa, what you didn't expect was to see Miri, your bitch of a cat, to be so comfortable on Jeongguk's lap. Your pet looked at peace; the usual hiss she was making was replaced by a silent purring. Her bambi eyes mirrored your soulmate's same big, doe eyes.
You cleared your throat to get Jeongguk's attention.
"I let myself in, I hope you don't mind." You couldn't decipher what he was feeling. Jeongguk's voice was soft, but there was no hint of emotion there. His expression was also unreadable.
Jeongguk tore his gaze away from you when he realized that you were staring. As if this wasn't already awkward for him, you went on to say something that made him more uncomfortable.
"I've been waiting so long to meet you! Are you going to move in with me now?" You plopped down beside Jeongguk, squeezing your body between him and the arm of your sofa. Miri hissed since she was astounded by your sudden action. Actually, Jeongguk was surprised too. Your couch was pretty spacious; he didn't understand why you had to press yourself beside him.
Jeongguk also didn't know why you sounded so hopeful. The sparks in your eyes caused him to scowl; however, this didn't stop you from speaking your hopeless thoughts.
"We could do a lot of things together! I had planned everything since I was young!" You giggled. You didn't know why you were so comfortable telling him things. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that you two were soulmates.
However Jeongguk was confused with your weird idea of wanting to do all of this romantic stuff with him. The uneasiness he felt couldn't be contained anymore when you abruptly talked about dating—as in dating him.
"Whoa, whoa..." He cut you off, arching his brow and moving away from you. "Slow down, will you? I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Oh." You blushed, immediately realizing that you had gone too far. "I'm sorry I got carried away. I was just excited to meet you." You couldn't help but beam at him.
Jeongguk continued to raise his brow at you.
"Why? Are you really that desperate to find a roommate?"
It was your turn to raise a brow at him.
"N-No, I just..." You breathed in, unsure of what to say. "I'm just happy to finally meet my soulmate."
"Soulmate?"
You flinched because of the bitterness in his voice. His innocent eyes turned dark, he was glaring at you. Miri was startled once more. She jumped on your lap because she was getting scared of Jeongguk.
"I'm sorry to break it to you, but I don't believe in soulmates." The word 'soulmate' sounded so rough coming from him, making you flinch again.
Many people had told you that you were good at gauging the feelings of other people, this was why your heart skipped a beat when you saw pain and anger crossed Jeongguk's feature. It was as if he was betrayed by someone.
"It's the most absurd thing I've heard in my entire life. Only stupid people believe in soulmates. I mean—" Jeongguk sucked in a breath. He was so annoyed that he didn't even know how to express his thoughts without breaking apart. "It's limiting the possibilities for people. Why am I required to fall in love with someone I barely know? Why should I leave the person I truly love just because a person meant to be the love of my life," he paused, quoting the words love of my life in the air. "Helped me see colors? It's like forcing me to do something I don't—no, I can't do. It's such a burden. Love can't be bought. I refuse to be with people just because they helped me."
There was silence after Jeongguk's long speech of the reasons why he didn't—or as what he claimed—couldn't love you.
Jeongguk wetted his bottom lip. The silence was making him hate himself. He hated himself because he saw the tears forming in your eyes, an obvious sign that you were hurt because of what he said. But most importantly, he hated you.
It was unlikely of him to hate someone he just met—or to simply hate anyone at all, but everything about you was making him mad as hell.
He hated your hopeful eyes, he hated your beliefs, he hated that you were the person hindering him from being with Red.
He knew it was unfair to blame you since Red chose to leave on her own, but he still couldn't help himself because the idea of soulmate was what urged her to leave.
You were Jeongguk's soulmate and for him, it meant nothing. So with a furrowed brow, he stared hard at you as he said this:
"I'm making you choose right now. Either accept me as Jeongguk, your tenant or Jeongguk, your soulmate. But just so you know, I will never stay with you if you treat me like a soulmate."
His word stung, though you were aware that the only way to make him stay was to choose the former option. At least this way, you got to be with your soulmate.
The colors you see were starting to fade away and it was okay...

It’s safe to say that the COVID content drought is just about over. Netflix prides itself on being the most, let’s say, prolific streaming service in the game. With its list of new releases for May 2021 it’s once again revealing why.
There is a lot going on for Netflix this month and it all starts with some high profile original films. Zack Snyder’s latest zombie effort Army of the Dead premieres on May 21. That will be preceded by Monster, the adaptation of Walter Dean Myers’ classic YA book, on May 7 and Amy Adams Rear Window-esque The Woman in the Window on May 14.

Netflix’s TV offerings in May 2021 are just as packed. The adaptation of Millarworld superhero comic Jupiter’s Legacy arrives on May 7. That’s followed by the final season of Castlevania on May 13, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 3 on May 21, and the second half of Lucifer season 5 on May 28. What’s this we spy with our little eye on the schedule? Is that another season of Aziz Ansari’s Master of None lined up for this month? That appears to be the case. So too will Ryan Murphy’s latest effort, HALSTON, premiere in May.
Of course, every month also needs a refreshing of library titles. Notable films arriving to Netflix’s stream on May 1 are Back to the Future, Zombieland, and Scarface.

2020 Year in Review
Thanks to @i-am-just-a-kiddo for tagging me! I modified the format a bit, but it was fun! Also, none of these are ordered because it was hard enough to pick top 5s and I didn’t feel like ranking them in addition to that.
Again, anyone who wants to do this, consider yourself nominated by me. My answers are under the cut because though I tried very hard, I failed to keep them short.
Movies/TV shows: I combined these since I’ve seen less than 5 of each oops
1. Tientsin Mystic - Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful cinematography. The plot went off the rails (in a fun way) in the second half but I was impressed with the intricacy of the setup in the first 12 or so episodes, and the central trio were wonderful.
2. Parasite - Its genius has been explained by people who can do so much better and more eloquently than I can, so I’ll just leave you with the coldest take ever: it was really, really good.
3. Midnight Diner - I’d seen Tokyo Stories previously, but I went back and watched the older series when they came to Netflix and absolutely loved them. Seeing the origins of the regulars and getting some unexpected emotional stabs made it unforgettable.
4. The Devotion of Suspect X - The book is one of my favorite mysteries, so I was ready to be disappointed, but ended up being pleasantly surprised with how well the adaptations maintained the heart of the novel.
5. Mulan (2009) - Watched it to cleanse Mulan (2020) from my brain. It was perfect - hearbreaking story, amazing and realistic characters, beautifully done fight scenes.
Songs:
1. почему (zemfira) - I continue to love zemfira. This song has been in my spotify wrapped for the past 3 years straight.
2. スマトラ警備隊/四角革命 (soutaiseiriron) - I’m cheating by adding two songs since I couldn’t decide which was more representative. I promise the music is good and I don’t just like soutaiseiriron because of the physics name, even if that’s what caught my attention at first.
3. Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd) - It’s been one of my “comfort songs” ever since I was a kid. A big one from the early days of quarantine.
4. 赤い月 (Kitri) - This was a big j-music year for me clearly. Someone recommended Kitri to me in September and I fell in love with their funky, dreamlike style. Also, after playing BOTW earlier this year, the music video sparks panic every time the titular red moon appears.
5. Nocturne (Kaija Saariaho) - Saariaho is probably my favorite active composer, and this is my favorite of her works. I was considering putting down something more Romantic instead, but I listen to that stuff all the time, while 2020 really had me revisiting some more unique pieces, and this one in particular.
Books:
1. Death’s End (Liu Cixin, tr. Ken Liu) - Yes, this was the year I finally read that series. I have many philosophical disagreements with certain messages that appear in the books, but the fact that they prompted that kind of thought is rare enough to warrant a spot on this list.
2. The Roman Elegiac Poets (ed. Karl Harrington) - Technically a textbook, but I’m putting it here for the poems it contains and not Harrington’s additions (which I didn’t particularly like). Catullus 101 had a huge impact on me when I read it for class a few years ago, so I picked up this book to see some more of his elegiac poetry and loved what I found. I’ve also developed a new appreciation for Ovid, and will probably be taking a second look at the Metamorphoses this year to see if I like them more than I did the first time.
3. Dune (Frank Herbert) - I reread it in anticipation of the upcoming film adaptation and loved it as much as I did the first time. It’s full of things I love - intricate politics, engaging science, deep worldbuilding, and of course, space.
4. JR上野駅公園口/Tokyo Ueno Station (Yu Miri) - This one was a challenging read (for my Japanese level anyway), but I’m glad I got through it. Came for the ghost narrator, stayed for the unexpectedly deep sadness it inspired.
5. The Idiot (Dostoevsky, tr. Volkhonsky/Pevear) - This might be my new favorite Dostoevsky work. I don’t know how to explain it other than that while I never really knew where it was going, everything somehow still made sense.
That’s it for my year in review - I hope anyone reading this has a wonderful 2021!

You know, its strange to think that I've been in the bjd hobby for so long yet ive only owned bjd's for a short time during university when I finally had the money and was allowed to buy one on account of me no longer living with my parents. I've had 5 dolls in total and the two I think I miss the absolute most is my tan iplehouse rex and my pink skin mystic kids miri. My rex was the first doll I ever bought, and I remember ordering him to a friends house to avoid my mum finding out about it, and she had to pay like 300kr to get it from the post office!!! I was hella embarrassed, but incredibly grateful
I stuffed him unstrung into my backpack and started going home, and of course I saw a celebrity at the train station but was unable to leave my backpack but also unable to carry it any longer because Rex was 70cm of like pure resin and he was HEAVY. So i ended up not saying hi, because he was also on the phone. The guy in question was William Spetz
I spent like 2 hours on a train and then 45 mins on a bus until I was finally home and finally strung him up! He was my favourite doll alongside my MK miri mostly due to how much struggle went into getting him
However when I got my Miri I felt bad about having Rex because he was a recast. I tried justifying it to myself because I had always wanted to join the hobby for real and finally got my chance at a fraction of the cost, but eventually I gave in and sold all my dolls, including my Miri who I only sold because I was moving abroad and needed the money, and I still miss her!! She was so adorable and I loved playing with her
Ever since selling them I've thought about rejoining the hobby, but I didn't want to freak out my boyfriend as I knew these things were kinda unsettling to a lot of people. But recently I was unable to resist the urge as I got paid extra and told my boyfriend I wanted to get one, which he wasn't against since it was my money and our relationship is loving and supporting eachother even though we have strange hobbies lol
So I started looking around as I was really interested in getting a smart doll or a dollfie dream, as I feel they are even easier to customize and more harmless then a heavily detailed grown man doll you know, anime dolls get a pass. So I sent my boyfriend a link of the one I was planning on getting, and since he was at work his boss saw it and thought it looked really cool
And today she arrived, my dollfie dream Karin. Her name is Mima, but my bf and I call her Karen when we talk about her. He asked if he could send a photo to his boss and he sighed heavily when I made her dab for the photo
I definitely think im gonna be more endearing in the hobby now, and have decided to go against buying anymore recasts. Because of my past I feel as though I am in no position to judge, but for myself I will only be buying legit dolls from now on. Mima is going to be spoiled however, since I really have no plans of getting another doll anytime soon, but will definitely make and buy her stuff
Its weird how my connection to this hobby has evolved, but today I woke up sick as hell and got my hands on my first doll in years, and it feels really good. I think I wasn't in a mature enough state of mind when I first joined properly after lurking for years, with my first doll being a recast doll château alberta. I was too impatient and wanted one now and not later and so I grew tired of them quickly. But I have big plans for Mima, so onwards and upwards I suppose!

Jolene got a new wig! I may have gotten it in a size too small (curse her awkward 8in head size!), but she wears it well regardless so I’m still happy with the purchase. Now I just need to get her a better outfit...

Miri Project
Reta o Ngahere Hau
(Language: Maori)
(Letters of Forest Wind)
(*Note: Not direct translation)
Unfinished
March 8th to 22nd, 2017
There was once a kind and wise woman that lived the trunk of one of the enormous trees in The Great Forest.
The woman was just human, in a world filled with beautiful magicks and astounding creatures.
Despite being born into the realm with no magic whatsoever, she was not bitter about it.
Her kindness won the hearts of many.
She lived a full life filled with love and adventure.
There was nothing she regretted.
______________________________________________________________
The woman lived alone in the tree trunk.
Her children have moved on some time ago.
Her husband traveled around the world helping those in need and discovering lost places.
The forest was home to faeries, nymphs, and centaurs.
Many mystical creatures visited her in her home, but when they had to depart it left her with an empty heart.
She was happy, yet lonely in The Great Forest.
It was rumored she was the last of her kind.
Many of the creatures started to show sympathy when they heard of it.
But what could they possibly do?
______________________________________________________________
They were misfits.
Outsiders.
Thrown out for their free spirited minds.
They had rebellious natures.
But were pure of heart.
One moment helping an old farmer control the winds so that they didn't tear down the new crop, and the next hunting down the giant wolves who stole a young lamb.
Help the poor soul of whoever may hurt one of their acquaintances.
They had the power of the wind.
Admittedly, not strong enough to change the course of the air currents of the world, but enough to do little good deeds here and there.
Such as helping a kid get his kite down from a tree, diverting a tornado from a village, and helping local fisherman get wind in their sails to head off in the early mornings.
The village didn’t mind the kids so much.
They never caused trouble- not too much anyways- and helped whenever they could with their abilities.
Some local couples and families had them over for dinner in the evenings, and the street vendors tossed pears and fruit their way as they ran laughing down the streets in the mornings.
They always caught the delicious fruit.
The vendors would purposely try to make them miss, by throwing it at their heads, but the wind controllers just shrieked, giggled and used the air to manipulate the food into their outstretched palms.
After consuming the delicacies, the group of kids always ran towards the jagged cliffs out looking the sea.
The first time they jumped the villagers shouted and the other children screamed.
They weren’t aware at the time that the kids weren't anything but normal, and looked on in fear and a mixture of awe and surprise. The kids had created little gliders with the staffs the carpenter of the village gave them for hiking up the mountain.
They twisted, twirled, swooped, and looped on the wind that they had some control of.
And as kids, of course they couldn't help but to show off.
______________________________________________________________
The woman married a Hero.
One who was destined to save parts of the mystical world.
She knew that he couldn’t have many ties, but his heart was too big and he shared compassion wherever he went.
Regardless of the fated obligations he had, he still went down and proposed,
in the very forest she was currently in.
The woman sighed as she watched the small rodent animals frisk outside one of the windows in the trunk.
She was reading in a chair, her head propped up by her arm that was bent on the table.
The afternoon sun rays filtered through the massive treetops, splashing the forest floor in dapples of light and warmth.
It was too late in the afternoon to read anyways.
She pushed her chair backwards and started to stretch her sore limbs.
